Still, this is genuinely interesting to me. On the one hand, the company probably doesn't want me walking off with their two weapons. On the other, I'm pretty sure there would be some sort of laws about illegal use of bodies without consent that could be used to at least claim reparations from the Corporation- or threaten them with it to get them to accept the loss of the items.

There's the problem. They're horrible at understanding how things like democracy came to be, and why things really can't go back to the monarchist/dynastic roots that Japan was forced out of at gunpoint- barring some Armageddon-level distasters, of course.

I think I would have enjoyed Kantai more if they'd just skipped the whole revisionist-history thing. Shipgirls from a variety of nations having to fight off an alien/supernatural invasion would have made for a more interesting story than just demonizing the Americans.

I just get a bitter taste from how the Japanese try to sweep things under the rug and pretend nothing happened, or that they were right. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it, and all that.

But that's my point; everybody did bad shit back then, and everybody acknowledges, to some extent, "yeah, that was fucked-up of us." Even the use of the Atomic bombs- which saved more lives than if we'd gone ahead with the ground invasion- is heavily debated and controversial.
Do you think the Japanese would be as conflicted if they'd used the Atomic bombs? I honestly think they'd be completely self-righteous about it. And that's a very dangerous mindset to have.

Yes and no. See, our house, like many houses in West Virginia, is on a hill. This means that the water is getting piped uphill, and thus has low pressure at our house- the water is there, it just doesn't have much push behind it.
A step-up pump is something you connect to the main water-pipe for the house, and basically picks up the slack caused by the water having to flow uphill. In short, it's increasing the water pressure for our entire house- hoses, showers, washing machines and all.

Of course, setting it up means you have to mess around with the pipes under your house. which means 1. going under your house in a cramped crawlspace, and 2. if you don't know what you're doing, you can screw up your entire waterline and have to spend money bringing in a professional to fix what you broke.

Quest: Looking for players

Niyara

What's it about?
You are a group of adventurers/opportunists/scoundrels/? arriving in an outpost recently conquered by a human alliance from elven territory.
The alliance is attracting all sorts of people willing to brave the dangers of living there, because the outpost contains a magical resource of incredible value. Naturally, they want to exploit it.
You have joined the town for whatever reason, perhaps you seek gold, perhaps knowledge, perhaps you just want to escape the law, and now you can do your part helping to build it up.
By excavating the mine, building up a militia, creating a bar, running a farm, ????, it's up to you. I'll leave you guys full freedom in this matter, even to leave the town.

What can I expect?
(Hopefully) Freedom, drama, emotions, and all that other stuff.

No, seriously, I heard you talking about no combat and all.
So I want to focus more on relations between the players and between npcs, so you can forget about large complex dungeons.
That doesn't mean combat is off the hook, if you venture into the wilds, you can expect some shit to happen. But I imagine it more like, you for example see a goblin hiding in the trees, you decide to shoot him from afar, you succeed, it ends. You fail, the road ahead becomes more dangerous. That has advantages for you if you roll good, but disadvantages if they roll good.
I'd like combat to be shorter and more intense.

Okay I'm in. What system?
I have not decided yet. Make a concept of your character and once a system is decided, you can translate it to that system.
Keep in mind, that just because the focus is on rp, you won't succeed everything because of large CHA. If you'd like to create a militia, you'd be taken more serious as a strong guy rather than a pretty boy.

If I don't know the system, how can I create a character?
You can assume a fantasy world with humies, elves, dwarves, etc. Just because the conquered people are elves, doesn't mean you can't be an elf if you want. You can assume there's many different kingdoms. I'm considering running it in the forgotten realms setting, but don't take it too much into account when creating a concept.

So what's next?
Talk to me on steam if you want to join.

Way out west there was this fella… fella I wanna tell ya about. Fella by the name of Jeff Lebowski. At least that was the handle his loving parents gave him, but he never had much use for it himself. Mr. Lebowski, he called himself "The Dude". Now, "Dude" - that's a name no one would self-apply where I come from. But then there was a lot about the Dude that didn't make a whole lot of sense. And a lot about where he lived, likewise. But then again, maybe that's why I found the place so darned interestin'. They call Los Angeles the "City Of Angels." I didn't find it to be that, exactly. But I'll allow there are some nice folks there. 'Course I can't say I've seen London, and I ain't never been to France. And I ain't never seen no queen in her damned undies, so the feller says. But I'll tell you what - after seeing Los Angeles, and this here story I'm about to unfold, well, I guess I seen somethin' every bit as stupefyin' as you'd see in any of them other places. And in English, too. So I can die with a smile on my face, without feelin' like the good Lord gypped me. Now this here story I'm about to unfold took place back in the early '90s - just about the time of our conflict with Sad'm and the I-raqis. I only mention it because sometimes there's a man… I won't say a hero, 'cause, what's a hero? But sometimes, there's a man. And I'm talkin' about the Dude here. Sometimes, there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place. He fits right in there. And that's the Dude, in Los Angeles. And even if he's a lazy man - and the Dude was most certainly that. Quite possibly the laziest in Los Angeles County, which would place him high in the runnin' for laziest worldwide. But sometimes there's a man, sometimes, there's a man. Aw. I lost my train of thought here. But… aw, hell. I've done introduced him enough.
