Here is a link to the gamehttps://soft-lava.itch.io/element-of-justice
For now it has dykeshipping in the intro but that has already seized to exist in a next release.
And you're only gay if you use a trip and aren't contributing anything at the time.
Also, we're pretty low-traffic here, so you might have a better pool of testers if you go to the horseboard. Unless you're just casting your net wide and coming here too, in which case you can ignore me.
If I get home on Thursday then I will approximately have two days to finish this bitch. Thins will go as usual - a heck ton of energy drinks, one pepperoni pizza and a whole lot of self hate.
I am also making Octavia a whole lot darker this time around. More clues are given that relate to why pinkie pie is involved. Every scene and fight you'll encounter will reward you with information instead of being a pretentious gig. Trixie fight is legit now. And most of all, the difficulty of the game has drastically decreased with enemies being harder if you wish them to be harder - it goes with Snips : Snaps, Snails : Two tails dynamic.
I use Nokia Lumia as a phone lol. So I can't reply on /mlp/. Phone's too outdated to support replying so its a read-only mod for me.
Also yeah. I'm a Russian autistic guy so dumb typos are to be expected.
Good news. Right about now a surgeon visited me saying I am free to go home. Yay. I have more days to spend developing the updated game.
God is real. And this god is Celestia wanting this game to roll!
Though Octavia still refers to Vinyl as sunshine.
Remember that lullaby called "you are my sunshine, my only sunshine?"
I think it fits. Heck Lisa fags are okay with buddy so why not calling Vinyl Scratch sunshine. Her fur is white.
By that I mean "Don't take my sunshine away" part. Not "bitch, you cheated on me" part. If you ever listened to Jojny Cash then you'll get what I'm saying.
Monster Berry Creepy + cool. This is my fav. How long does it take you to make a full sprite and what is the creativity process for you?
>>Monster Berry Creepy + cool. This is my fav.
Thank you. I try my best with designs. Having an idea is one thing but making it into reality is a whole different story.
>>How long does it take you to make a full sprite and what is the creativity process for you?
It's very hard. Sometimes I take a break from drawing just for all those thoughts to sink in. The key to making sprites is consistency and when you spend too much time developing a certain sprite is most likely to stick out from the rest in an unfitting way. I'd say the process usually take from 2 to 5 days, assuming I work without being distracted.
Have to agree, Monsterr Berry looks pretty neat.>>3195>I'd say the process usually take from 2 to 5 days, assuming I work without being distracted.
2 to 5 per sprite set right? Or is it just for a singular sprite?>>3196>The houses.
Detailed job. One question, do you have to make different sprite effects for this sort of white out effect or does the game engion handle the light? I assume the former.
to 5 per sprite set right? Or is it just for a singular sprite?
Yes, more like post processing and adding some extra layers and finishing touches.
>>does the game engion handle the light?
It does (to some extent) allow shadows & lighting manipulation but since it's my irst time making something on this engine I just went with drawing everything in photoshop to avoid complications. Still, the game project is messy as hell at this point. I'm afraid of sorting things out because I forgot which stuf does what. And although it's messy, I learned to be more organised in the future.
If you feel like asking anything then please do. I am more than happy to chat in between my neverending one hell of a development routine.
I'll bite. What is your favorite and list favorite aspect of making this game?
My favourite part is realizing that something you make becomes real. Something that starts off as a scrapped stupid idea turns into something beautiul in its own way. Just a mere thought of a shitty game reaching out to someone more than yourself is worth a while.
The creative proccess behind it is not however. My least favoutite part of developing this game is, quite ironically, developing this game. First reason is a creative freedom I am faced with. Since I am the one guy who tells a story, draws sprites and works on gameplay, I have no Idea what is right and what is wrong to do in any of these fields until I try something first. I don't have quality control because my possibilities are limitless to begin with. Second problem is a constant creator's fever. You know, the one that goes along the lines of "It's not the way I want it be so I hate it" kind of thing. A creator can never be satisfied with his own creation. That's just how it goes with people. Also this fever inspired me to add a "compose" skill to Octavia. When used, Octavia will try to compose some music but she'll get pissed because she is not satisfied with what she makes of it.
I don't know why but for some reason you can't work on your craft unless some miraculous conditions in your head are met and you just start firing one good idea after another.
I have two lumia phones. One for work and second for playing an outdated version of my little pony from gameloft. If you didn't know, microsoft pulled the phone, pruned its app store and basically killed their own brand. Wat I like about this phone is that it's simple to use, it doesn't bother you with updates, noone will care to cyber attack you, it's good for making calls and brwusing 4chan.
>>3202>That's just how it goes with people. Also this fever inspired me to add a "compose" skill to Octavia. When used, Octavia will try to compose some music but she'll get pissed because she is not satisfied with what she makes of it.
That is art. Maybe I'm being gay here but that is beautiful to me. Something feels like thats gets to an impulse and desire that all artist feel at one point.
>My least favoutite part of developing this game is, quite ironically, developing this game.
How much time do you spend on it daily/weekly?>>3203>an outdated version of my little pony from gameloft.
Any advantages compared to now?
>Wat I like about this phone is that it's simple to use, it doesn't bother you with updates, noone will care to cyber attack you, it's good for making calls and brwusing 4chan.
I remember wanting to get one but never did. I'm surprised that it doesn't bother you with updates as I have older phones that have reached end of support and whine about it. Sounds like a comfy and in a few years a retro experience.
>How much time do you spend on it daily/weekly?
All the time. Thanks to quarantine I have nothing to distract me with (aside from hanging out on 4chan and browsing ponerpics)
I get it. That's the point. A enteral dissatisfaction. >>3206
How much of that is fun and how much of it is madding?
A enteral partial dissatisfaction.
>How much of that is fun and how much of it is madding?
It mostly varies from time to time, ranging from not having fun at all and completely nailing it in a first try.
Right now I'm dealing with some plot holes. Stay tuned for how I'll bring it to resolution.
>>3207>A enteral dissatisfaction.
That honestly sounds like torture. >>3209>Right now I'm dealing with some plot holes. Stay tuned for how I'll bring it to resolution.
>>3212>The new theme of the game is loss of identity.
What was the old theme and how much labor did it take to change a theme?
>killing the protagonist is a boring cliche so feel free to add your two cents regarding what I just told you.
It can be, but it also can be very impactful still. I will need to see the final version before I can decide but what I ask you is how does it make you feel?>>3211>So yeah, I decided for Octy to be depicted as idealistic as possible. She has no flaws when you start the game. She obtains them during your playthrough.
This game feels like it should be a Neo-fandom classic. Like it's the evovled form of shitposts like Luna game and early good concepts like the Story of the Blanks.
>>3214>What was the old theme and how much labor did it take to change a theme?
There was a theme of being edgy for a sake of edgy, to show the world that pony games can be this way. You can see that by pinpointing such scenes as Octavia brutally murdering Snails with scissors or Octavia smashing Vinyl on the head for not paying attention. In other words, all this time until a couple of weeks ago I was trusting my ambitions when in reality I should've done a little less of that. Now I have chosen a different approach to how a story should be told. And that approach is all about rational thinking. Some scenes are distracting, meaningless. Without a proper direction to lead a story, the old version of the game had certainly lost its weight. Appeal comes through simplifying the story elements, organizing them in such a way that they highlight one another, relate to one another. And now that the key to how things should relate (i.e. the theme of identity loss) is now decided, it became much easier to work on how certain story elements are brought to light.
As for how much it took to adjust the game to the new theme, I'll say - not so much. You see, Identity loss was what I've been trying to depict from the start but couldn't quite put my finger on it. And now I am on my right mind to finally finish telling the story in a way that can make it feel compleated and meaningful.
>how does it make you feel?
I feel relief, frankly, that I've found a way to bring a story to conclusion. Of all different ways I've tried to end a story, this one resonates in my heart. I am still worried a little that octavia doesnt turn into a monster if she beats trixie without wearing a hat. Touching a hat logically implies that touching trixie would lead to the same transformation process. But, on the other hand, that's not for me to decide how a player would intepret it.
>This game feels like it should be a Neo-fandom classic
How about a renaissance classic? Some players feel nostalgic about this game, calling it a chilling gift from tender times of 2012, when the majority of pony fandom was into creepypasta and edgy stuff.
>>3215>There was a theme of being edgy for a sake of edgy, to show the world that pony games can be this way.
So it really was an evovled form early creepypasta game.> calling it a chilling gift from tender times of 2012, when the majority of pony fandom was into creepypasta and edgy stuff.
fandom renaissance classic? I like that better.
Do it. Not just for mods but because it'd be a shame for it just to lay unseen in your computer after all that work. and maybe post it to Ponerpics
>>3218>Do it. Not just for mods but because it'd be a shame for it just to lay unseen in your computer after all that work.
I will do that once the element of justice is finally 100% done to the point where I can finally move on to something else.
>>3219>is this one of those X, that DOES something
Is this one of those Chickens that murders cows?
>s this one of those X, that DO something
Is this one of those Chickens that murder cow?
Or "do" and "does" in the sentence? TBH, Does sounds more natural but I don't know what the something is so I can't say 100%.
It is looking amazing. I think this could be a 9/10 game.
It is looking amazing. I think this could be a 9/10 game.
It could but I doubt it ever will. even with a little player base I have it barely evolves to form some sort of a plot discussion or lorefollowing. This might mean two things. Either I'm bad at telling a story or people just don;t like dark stuff.
>>3228> people just don;t like dark stuff.
This would be a shame considering all the lore discussion that happened with even the stupiest meme tier creepy pasta's back in the day.
It's more ironic than that, really. To think that the game about justice won't do justice to the fandom.
It just has to show: when you make content you shouldn't raise your expectations. Otherwise you'll be depressed when the thing you make gets no views, being lost without support you 'think' it deserves. I am myself guilty of taking it too personally since I've tried so hard making my voice heard, imagening the sweet sweet aftertaste of talking to fans. But, as we all know, what's the best way to make a God/Spaghetti monster/whatever laugh? Tell him your life plans.
>What? You plan to have a baby? yeah, sure… here, have a miscarriage.>What? You don't plan to make a family? Here, have an ugly wife with ten kids and a dog.
I feel like a lost guy who has no place in this world. I hardly find an reason to smile, which is good for making a sad depressing game.
Though, I admit the game got a decent attention from 4chan, but it was a shortlived fame.
>>3230>It just has to show: when you make content you shouldn't raise your expectations. Otherwise you'll be depressed when the thing you make gets no views, being lost without support you 'think' it deserves>>3190>I think a lot of it is a lack of attention and promotion over a lack of interest. EqD doesn't do a good job with gaming news. Equestria Gaming is a zombie many people believe for dead. I think, if you can, making a comic or even just some art could help make some hype.
I've seen this be raised by anons on /mlp/ as well. Our gaming infostruture is severly weakened from what it was. So that effort is on you (and me) to a greater extent.
>I've seen this be raised by anons on /mlp/ as well. Our gaming infostruture is severly weakened from what it was. So that effort is on you (and me) to a greater extent.
Personally, once I discovered that some adult babyfur loving furfucks who shit themselves get 11 thousand dollars per mouth from their patreons, I came to my conclusion that the world is just fudamentaly broken as a whole. In all my developer's cincerity, the humanity can go fuck itself in the ass, including myself.
The problem is not with the brony gaming community. the problem lies in us. In all of us.
Looking forward to it
It's been too fucking long. The prototype includes horse pussy though. Beware. Also, Itch.io update will be released as a final build. Let me know if you found glitches.
Yay!>>3238>We'll hopefully meet again when I announce a release on the sequel:
