No.48105

This is the thread we'll be using for the beginning of our splotchbutt escapades.

Remember: We're going into a hard mode of sorts. I won't hold your hand or pull any punches when the time comes. I WILL nudge you if I think you're lost/confused, and will always explain things to you if you need it to happen. So don't hesitate to ask.

Your goal, as always, is to reach an intimate relationship with our chosen pony. How you get there and what you do are entirely up to you the players, within reason.

With that said, we'll be underway shortly. I can only hope it ends up meeting your collective expectations.

Get ready, because it's time!

If I ask whether a choice decided by multiple people is final or not, please take that time to reassess if it's your final choice or not.

Also, I'm trying to give you limited roam. You won't be able to do everything you want, but I want you to have and make choices on your own instead of me providing like, 3 choices.

“…Seems…..conscious…..ready!”

Your head feels light as you try to raise yourself to a sitting position, only to be gently pushed back into a lying position by an unseen form. Your eyes can't seem to focus and you blink them rapidly in the bright light of the room you're in. A mix of gruff and soft voices filter in and out, but you can't make sense of any of it. God your head hurts, and who the hell keeps pushing you onto your back? You want to sit up and see what the hell is going on, dammit!

“…istance…..can't…..”

With a growl you sit upright pulling your arms hard against whatever is holding them down. There's a moment of resistance, but there's a loud crack and then they're free. The first thing you do with them is wipe your eyes, which feel stiff and tired. How long were you sleeping? Who tied you to your bed? Why does this not feel like your bed at all, actually? You blink rapidly and start looking around the room when a figure you don't recognize lurches at you aggressively, stubby limbs and hardened body appearing menacing in your hazed mind.

I apologize if formatting dicks this up.

How do you react?

Just before the figure crashes into you, you shift your arms and deflect your attacker to your left. A surprised yelp sounds through the room followed quickly by the sound of metal hitting a wall. The sound does nothing to help your headache, making you wince and curse.

You quickly look about the room, trying to get your bearings, stopping when you realize you're surrounded by a small horde of metal clad…ponies.

A few of them have spears, pointed menacingly at your face and torso, a look of grim determination on their faces. You look past them to see a pair of very nervous looking ponies, one in a doctor's outfit while the other has a nurse's cap, shivering in the corner of the room, which you rapidly realize is an infirmary room.

Slowly, so as not to appear threatening, you raise your hands into the air in a signal of surrender.

"What…what's going on? Where am I?" you ask the room, "Who are you?"

"You are in Equestria," a stern, womanly voice sounds from the right, behind the wall of metal clad stallions, and a single soldier moves out of the way to reveal a much larger, white horse, with a strange multicolored mane that flows as though in a breeze, "And I am Princess Celestia."

The shock of a talking horse passes surprisingly quickly as she continues, "You were found in the palace garden, unconscious, and so we brought you here to ascertain if you were alright."

Her eyes narrow slightly, "I'm inclined to believe you're hostile after throwing the captain of my guards across the room like that. Perhaps you'd care to explain yourself?"

"I…what? I wake up tied to a table, and you want ME to explain myself?" You shake your head before putting a hand to it, "This has to be a dream. Talking ponies…"

A small prod from the end of a spear to your left informs you that no, this is not a dream. Not a dream at all.

"You will address the Princess as such!" the guard who prodded you intones menacingly.

Celestia's expressions softens a bit before she quiets the guard and takes a step closer to your bed side.

"I apologize for having you restrained, but without knowing what you are or if you were dangerous I had to take the precaution. You appear to understand me, and seem intelligent, so I will ask you; Do I have your word that you will refrain from throwing any guards or any hostile acts, so that I may release my guards and we can together discern how you arrived in my land?"

"Is it wise to trust a creature we know nothing about so implicitly, sister?" another feminine voice chimes from the entrance, and both you and Princess Celestia turn to see a shorter, dark blue pony with a blue and also flowing mane enter the room. She wears a black crown with a crescent moon, showing that she too is royalty.

"Ah, thank you for joining me so quickly Luna," Celestia addresses the blue pony, "Would you please check on Shining Armor for me?"

"I'm…fine, just got lucky," the captain says, clambering back into a standing position while shaking his head, his purple armor showing no worse for the wear. Seems the sound was worse than the accident.

"Back to my question," Celestia says, becoming serious once more, "Will you remain peaceful, or do I need to restrain you once more?"

You give her your word, citing you'll only fight if you feel threatened. You don't understand what the hell is going on, or how ponies can suddenly talk, but it's better to play along than risk getting killed.

Celestia nods and motions for the guards around you to stand back. The clatter of hooves and armor snapping into position echo in the room as Shining takes his position to your left, giving you a gruff look before standing to attention with his fellow soldiers.

"Good, now, if you'll follow me, we can move someplace more comfortable than an infirmary. Captain, please lead the way to the garden. We will show our guest exactly where he was found."

The one known as Shining Armor salutes, then leads a handful of his men ahead. You move to follow, and your legs threaten to give out on you. Suddenly you feel weightless and tingly, and when you look at yourself you find yourself floating and covered in some kind of blue energy. You panic, trying to touch the ground with your toes and flailing your arms a bit at the unexpected experience. When you drop to the floor you look about bewildered, what the hell?

"My apologies, you looked like you were going to fall." You look around to see the shorter blue horse bowing her head. During this time you notice that she also has a horn and wings. What…?

Before you can ask, a guard nudges you ahead into the caravan of soldiers. You follow their steady pace, a hundred questions in your head. You look around the inside of the castle you're in, observing art, furniture, and some landscaping as you head towards the garden that don't look entirely alien. The only difference is that most of them feature horses or ponies in some way.

"Are you alright?" Princess Celestia asks from behind you, a guard standing between the two of you for her safety. "Please, try to relax, we'll do our best to explain when we show you where we found you."

You slowly walk to the blast area, looking down into it to see if you can make out any pattern other than "circular."

After a few moments looking at it, nothing comes to mind. It just appears to be a few concentric circles.

The Princesses and a few guards stand beside you, looking at the circles as well.

"We've had scholars from all over Equestria come to view these, to try to discern if they meant anything," Celestia explains, "Sadly, nopony can give us a meaning. To us, they are just circles."

You tell her it's the same for you, and she shakes her head sadly, "Well, perhaps it's nothing then. There were no traces of magic during our investigation, so I'm unsure what to think of it."

"Who found me?"

Celestia motions to Luna, her sister if you recall correctly, "Princess Luna found you at night. Luna, please, tell him what you saw."

Luna clears her throat, "We were patrolling the castle grounds three nights ago when we discovered you, lying upon the ground. There were no lights, no magic, nothing to signify when or how you arrived. You were just…there."

"Well, thank you for bringing me in, at least. And for saving me from falling on my face back there, I appreciate that." you say.

You're visibly shaken, causing the Princesses to ask urgently if you're alright, one of the guards stepping forward to check you. You wave him off and tell them you just need to sit down for a bit, before promptly sitting square on the ground. You take deep breaths and slowly push back the sense of panic that threatened to overtake you.

The nurse pony you saw in the infirmary shows up moments later with an ice pack and thermometer, refusing to leave until she takes your temperature at the behest of the Princesses. Satisfied that you'll be alright, she leaves, warning the Princesses that you should be given time to recuperate.

>>48416
[I did forget to address this, my mistake.] You're wearing a very loose set of bright white clothes, made for someone much larger than yourself.

When you asked about the clothes [which should've been earlier, my bad] you were told that the things you were wearing when found were little more than rags. As such, they quickly gave you some clothes fit for a minotaur, since you resembled one on first glance.

The dinner provided by the Princesses and their chef is…different. Perhaps logic should've shown that meat would be a rare commodity or that they'd be against it's consumption, or something. Whatever reason, the table is free of any meat products.

Luckily it's not just greens and hay. Fruits and vegetables are abound, but lasagna and other pasta dishes are provided as well, a variety of red and white sauces provided for your consumption.

And boy do you consume. You eat a massive amount of food, not feeling full until well into your seventh plate of the various goods on the table. The Princesses stare in awe, only regaining their composure when a servant brings everyone a cup of tea and a slice of apple pie for dessert.

Celestia takes the moment to tell you how things are going to go.

"You arrived through means unknown, but you have made it clear you aren't hostile. I thank you for your cooperation in all of this, I'm sure it's quite terrifying to land in an unfamiliar place with no recollection of how you arrived." You nod as she continues, "That said, I cannot allow you to exit this castle until I deem you fit to interact with our citizens. This means you will have to learn how to read our language, since I'm assuming you do not know how to currently, as well as basic etiquette and hierarchy principles.

This does not mean we will not take care of you or help you learn these things. You will have a room to sleep in here in the castle, you will be instructed in these things you must learn, we will help you become an upstanding citizen of Equestria, so that you can go out and interact with this world until a way back to yours has been found, if it can be found.

Until you accomplish these things, you are not to leave the castle grounds. My guards have been instructed as such. I apologize in being forthright but this is not negotiable. I cannot have someone going about the kingdom unable to fend for themselves.

Is this understood?"

Celestia and Luna, who sit beside each other across the short table from you, lean towards one another and whisper at your question.

Based on body language, Luna is suggesting something while Celestia listens intently.

After a few moments of the whispering back and forth, the two of them nod and resume their more relaxed but still regal postures.

"Since you are a…peculiar case, and Luna seems to have taken a liking to you-"

"Sister! We found him! It is natural to wish for his well being!"

Celestia smiles before continuing, "As I was saying, since you are a special case with special circumstances, Luna and myself will instruct you, instead of a standard tutor. This keeps in line with keeping you secreted away until you're ready to interact with society as well.

You bow your head, almost hitting the table in the process, thanking them for their kindness, "I don't know how I got here, or exactly what's going on, so, thank you. I'll do my best to adjust."

Because there really isn't an alternative, you think to yourself.

"With all that's happened, I wonder if I'll have problems sleeping tonight," you joke, laughing nervously.

"If you need to talk, don't hesitate to contact a guard. One of us will be happy to talk to you if it will help ease your mind. Just remember that during the night I will be sleeping, and Luna will likely be patrolling, as she often does around the castle grounds."

You notice through one of the many windows that let in the fading light that it is rapidly becoming dusk. Luna looks out as well, and excuses herself from the table, "We…I mean, I, must prepare to raise the moon this night. Excuse me."

Celestia then has a pair of guards show you to your quarters, a relatively spacious and clean room with a bed, dresser and mirror, an adjoined bathroom and some commodities for hygiene. A book or two lay on the dresser, but you can't read them so they're pretty useless for the time being.

Upon further inspection, your room has a small balcony, big enough to fit one, maybe two, people. You walk to the entrance of the room and ask one of the guards if it's possible to watch Princess Luna raise the moon.

The guard shakes his head, "She's already begun the process of lowering the sun in it's final steps before she can raise the moon, any disturbance now could be disastrous."

"Wait, so she lowers the sun too?"

He sighs, apparently annoyed at being asked what he considers rudimentary questions, "As foals we learn that when Celestia raises the sun, she casts a spell that raises it to it's apex, then lets it gently descend to a resting position. Before Luna returned from her imprisonment, she also cast the next spell, that finalizes the sun's descent and does the same actions for the moon."

"Princess Luna was imprisoned?"

He sighs again, and the other door guard takes over explaining for his frustrated comrade, "Princess Luna was overtaken by a being known as Nightmare Moon, who sought to overthrow Celestia and make it night forever. Celestia imprisoned Nightmare Moon in the moon for a thousand years. Only recently did Nightmare Moon return, though she was forced out of Princess Luna, who now resumes her duties as Princess of the Night.

I'm sure Princess Celestia could explain it further, if you'll wait until your lessons."

You thank the guards for their explanations and head to your balcony to watch the sun set and the moon rise. It seems hard to imagine that tiny blue pony raising something like that, magic or no.

Just a quick tip, Aspirant.

If you're using it's in a possessive there is no contraction, so it's just spelled its. In this context "…the sun reaches its apex…"

Also, if you're finishing a paragraph with speech and beginning the next one with a continuation of the speaker, you should still close the speech marks and open speech marks in the next paragraph.

Not to be pedantic, it's just some advice because I know you like to write!

You stand quietly on the balcony, leaning against the elegant railing on the far side of it, trying to avoid vertigo by looking down.

Instead you have your eyes on the horizon, watching the sun gently set until it's no longer visible. Only the last rays peek out, creating an orange sunset that makes you feel relaxed for some reason. The sensation is peculiar, and you briefly wonder if it's something that happens every sunset. Or maybe it's just you?

Your thoughts are interrupted a few minutes later, when the moon silently creeps into view, rather quickly now that you look right at it. You hear…something, and look up to see Luna flying in place just past a balcony coming off an incredibly tall spire of the castle.

Are..her eyes glowing? So is her horn, you realize once you squint to try and see better. Her front hooves are raised and she angles her face to the sky above, like she's going to call out to it any moment.

You quickly look between her and the moon, to see it raising at a steady pace, until it's at a 10 o'clock position in relation to the land. The night is now fully bathed in the moon light, and you look up to see Luna flying in place, though her horn and eyes no longer glow.

She floats, perhaps observing the moon or just thinking to herself.

Well, who knew magic was real and that a pony could raise the moon? Maybe you could learn magic. Shoot lightning bolts or conjure stuff like you used to think of doing as a kid.

The thought makes you smile, the first genuine smile you've had today.

"It is a good look on you."

The sudden voice makes you recoil from the railing, towards your room, the beginnings of an expletive leaving your mouth before you recognize the voice and see a certain Princess floating next to your balcony. She must've seen you and moved while you were lost in thought.

"Are you alright? I didn't mean to startle you," she says, a concerned look crossing her face as she flaps her wings rhythmically to keep her in the air.

You know, I enjoy it when people show an interest in what I do and I can teach them about it.

It's a great feeling, having someone listening to you intently while you chat about the stuff you do. Then, as they gain experience, both from you and off their own back, they start to converse with you about it, able to offer up their own opinions on the matter and you can start a decent discourse about it.

Maybe Luna is the same?

Not really.

We wouldnt be quite as intrigued about it

we'd still be floored because of the immensity of what she just did, but when that show's over its all nothing we haven't seen a million times

Plus I still say it's smarter to have a skill of use than waste the only skill slot we get on romance. Nobody said we couldn't consider ourselves an amateur astronomer. Whats to say we dont start studying it in our downtime as we learn to read the language? Without telling Luna? And she one day notices us messing about with a telescope at night?

Thats romantic. "Oh hey that thing that you were basically born to do happens to be my one major skill" isn't.

"No, sorry, I was just lost in thought. Remembered thinking using magic would be cool when I was a kid."

Only after you say this does it dawn on you that you remembered something else from your past. It's nothing significant, but it still excites you to think you're remembering more things.

"You are remembering your past?" Luna asks, a tone of excitement creeping into her voice, "Wonderful! Is there magic where you're from? Have you remembered where you're from, exactly? Can you tell me about it?"

"Woah, uh, I don't think there was magic in my world. And I'm not really certain about that second thing. My mind is still pretty hazy."

Luna looks mildly dejected at this, "I see. I apologize for my questions, it is just exciting to think that there is another world out there somewhere, filled with wonder and mystery!"

You can relate, this land being much like that to you. Though it seems a little daunting.

"Have you remembered how you arrived?"

You shake your head no, cautiously moving back towards the balcony, until you stand on the opposite side of the railing from Luna, looking out towards the moon.

"No such luck? A shame." She's silent for a moment before she gently says, "We will do what we can to make you comfortable here in Equestria. You will find your place among us and live happily as well, I'm sure of it."

You thank her for her kind words just as a yawn racks your body and you stretch your arms. Luna smiles when you're finished, "It would seem you should rest. We can continue our conversation during your lesson tomorrow night if you'd like."

"That would be nice. I think I'd like that. Good night, Princess."

She smiles, floating upward towards the spire from where she cast her spells, calling out "Sleep well, and pleasant dreams."

You step back from the balcony and shut it's paned door, noticing there isn't a lock. Then again, who would need one this high up in a castle?

You yawn again and turn around, heading to the door to shut it. You awkwardly tell the guards you're going to sleep, shutting the doors gently. These doors also don't have a lock. Not that you need one with two guards outside your door.

You brush your teeth with the supplies provided to you that are in the bathroom, and you settle in for the night, turning off the lamp on your dresser as you head to bed and pull yourself into the nice, cool, tightly pulled sheets.

You sort of laugh to yourself as you begin to drift off. You're still not certain how you got here, or what exactly is going on, but all things considered? It isn't half bad here so far. Not at all.

Alright, I think I'm going to be done for the night. Keeps the session at about 4 hours, I won't botch up anything tonight, and we get finished with the intro section.

I really don't even know what we're going to do with all these background characters. A unique one for each path might be a bit much, depending on how quickly we progress through the main path writings.

I guess we'll see. I'm confident in our abilities, I'm just more concerned about time I guess. Like always.
