To train them is my cause.

It encourages it, through arcane means not fully understood. Some call this pseudoscience "voodoo breeding", but you can't argue with results. Well, you can. Mostly by calling it voodoo or pseudoscience.

You wonder if Pokemon actually have a nature at birth or if that develops over time. Of course, it's the classic nature vs nurture argument.

You quickly traverse the remainder of the terrain and make it to Amber City with no incident.

Hit 3 times!

Azumarill used Bubble Beam!

Azumarill L20 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Rena L18 [▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░]

You spot a few low-hanging berries, but they're protected by a fearsome Pineco…

Amber City! My first real city I didn't grow up in! What's it like?

Pineco? That's not that fearsome! They do tend to explode though…
Let's just keep moving. Selfdestruct is not fun.

Roll #1 8 = 8

"Once more. Fury Swipes" '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

So how about those breeding plans?
Need to know fast. I'm feeling tired… might want to go and nap soon…

It's… nothing like Phlox at all, except size maybe! While Phlox was a beautiful city, inside and out, Amber City is… not. It's a lot more spartan. There's trash on the streets. Grime. Apartments and city smog. Cars everywhere. And most of all, the buildings are… bland. They're just cement, brick, and mortar. There's no art, no color… it's all very thrown together. The other thing is the abundance of radio antennas and power lines running everywhere. It shouldn't be a surprise: the local Pokemon are Electric type, not psychic. And they prance about like they own the place. In the trees, you see families of Emolga. On a nearby power transformer, you see a few Joltik getting a buzz. Down an alley, a Voltorb rolls off to who knows where. Pidove dot the skies.

You try to grab a Kasib Berry, but a Mankey flexes at you. Ooh, so fierce.

Hit 3 times!

Azumarill used Bubblebeam! It was super effective! Rena fainted!

Azumarill L20 [▓▓▓▓░░░░░░]

Rena L18 [░░░░░░░░░░]

You can rent a box for just 150P a day. Dittos are a little more expensive: 500P a day. You know it could take 2-3 days to get an egg. Finding your own Dittos would definitely save a lot of money in the long run.

Ah, well. Let's see what race mixing does.

Swamp out Ampere for Purple Haze, put the two in.

Mankey… A fighting type huh?
"That berry will be mine! Go Wilbur! Gust!"

Roll #1 6 = 6

Well, that's…kinda depressing actually. I mean, it's nice to see so many Pokemon, but does it have to be so…dirty? What do they have here of interest?

"That did a lot more than I expected.. Sorry Rena.." Send out Solaire.

Deposited in the breeding box.

They're staring each other down…

Well, there's the St. Mendel Academy for Inheritance Research – the breeding academy, and next door to it the Amber City Gym. Not far are the Breeding Suites for serious breeders and the Inheritance Research Laboratories: a man on a nearby street corner is calling out, asking for paid test subjects at the lab right now. And of course, at the latter two, there are protesters complaining about bad conditions and forced breeding using chemicals.

It was super effective! Mankey used Fury Swipes – hit three times!

Mankey L20 [▓▓▓▓░░░░░░]

Wilbur L18 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

>gauis is here
>need to meet him
Fuck it.

Go walk around and find this guy the voice in my head is telling me to

'1d10' "Give it a taste of your Acid, for Rena's sake!"

Roll #1 4 = 4

Protesters? I'll go listen to them for a bit.

Wow! That was stronger than I thought!
"Finish it!"

Roll #1 5 = 5

Looks like I just need to walk out

You walk outside and see the protesters.

"Are you here to join us, brother? We're here to defend the rights of Pokemon against Pokemon Mills. These 'scientists' – if you can call this science – are forcing Pokemon to breed over and over for their entire lives, often times using chemicals to force them on each other. The conditions are terrible, and a Pokemon deserves more in life than a tiny box and a gob of transformative goo, don't you agree?"

Mankey fainted! Wilbur reached level 19.

It was super effective! The Azumarill fainted!

Solaire reached level 20!
Rena reached level 20! What? Rena is evolving!

Startle her out of evolving.

Am I hearing this?

Please respond fast I can;ttt

"Uh…maybe? How do you know all this?"

I smile and pluck the berry, then hold it out to Wilbur.
"You want it?"

byt aht I mean the protester speaking with Jakee

Rena is evolving no more!

He coos at you.

"You can have it. I bet it's tasty!"

Keep moving toward the town rolling to trasverse. '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

"I disagree. The pokemon are kept humanely and happy. We would not harm them, after all, we need them. You also misunderstand the mechanisms of these chemicals: we push and encourage the inevitable, not force their hands. It simply hastens what will happen anyway, nothing we do can make a pokemon breed if it doesn't want to. And if they do want more, well, why don't you ask them themselves?"

"I haven't mentioned yet how much we have learned have been applied to improve YOUR lives. How do you think your pokemon could have had the medicine it was given while sick if not for us?"

"They're totally transparent. You can go in and rent out a box right now. They rent out dittos and sell the chemicals right there, too. They don't need to hide – they have all the power."

Wilbur seems pleased by the sweet taste.

You reach a blockade with warning signs.

"That's a fallacy. Your research has nothing to do with medicine. That argument is on par with saying, 'you should be thanking us, because other protesters have demonstrated against dictators, you are today not in chains'. Your experiments are sick and twisted – Pokemon live out their entire lives in boxes because of your obsession with mass production of new Pokemon to sell to the highest bidder."

Cursed? "What is this…" Let Blink out. "Hey blink, what do you make of this?"

Good, very good.
Now, let's advance.

Roll #1 2 = 2

Blink submerges for a moment and then re-emerges with a little hardhat fashioned out of mud.

You wander around for a while until an acorn hits you in the back of the head. It's Aipom!

"Yes, and? People want pokemon. Pokemon whose numbers have dwindled down in nature to a point of danger because of how beloved they are. We keep them alive and well and ensure people can continue to have the pokemon so beloved. Is that wrong? Besides, I'll have you know that no sane breeder would use only boxes. Care for our flock is of paramount importance."

"Hey! Wilbur, Take him down a notch! Quick Attack!"

Roll #1 6 = 6

"That does sound pretty shifty."

"But we have reserves for that sort of thing now. And isn't creating designer pokemon for the upper class is just another by-product of the league's growing regulation of what we do?"

Laugh a bit and then look around and particular try to see above the barrier '1d10' "Are you saying there are rocks?"

Roll #1 10 = 10

"There are hundreds of cases of breeders using exclusively boxes. I saw you go in there and walk up to the box desk yourself! You're condemning these Pokemon to a terrible, unfulfilling life."

Aipom used Scratch!

Aipom L20 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Wilbur L19 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

"And Gust!"

Roll #1 2 = 2

You can easily climb over it.

Blink meets you on the other side, popping up from the dirt.

Aipom used Scratch! Forgot to carry over damage from last combat, applied

Aipom L20 [▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░]

Wilbur L19 [▓▓░░░░░░░░]

"Ask them that themselves. They wouldn't do it if they didn't like it, would they?"

"We do, yes, but they don't keep up. We do need to populate the reserves, too. I can't much about the league's policies on this sort of thing, though. I'd like to look at it in greater detail."

Ho ho ho.
Return Wilbur.
"Have a rest. Lyra, you're up!"

Smile a bit and check out the area, I bet there are some cool items '1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

"They have no choice! You're the one who puts them in the box and pumps them full of chemicals!"

Aipom used Scratch!

Aipom L20 [▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░]

Lyra L18 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

You run face-first into a low-hanging branch. Ow! The good news is you think you see the town up ahead.

"Electro Ball! On the double!"

Roll #1 9 = 9

"Ow, I wish I had a helmet.." wait a tree? Investigate the tree, I bet it has something interesting '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

"Me either, but a city like this really doesn't look like a healthy environment to be raising pokemon. Look how filthy it is!"

"'Pumping' is a misnomer. It's simply adding onto what's already there. Please, calm yourself, and look at the facts. Don't give into sensationalism or fear."

"If it's already there, then why the additives?"

Aipom L20 [▓░░░░░░░░░]

Lyra L18 [▓▓▓▓░░░░░░]

The tree is mundane, but you see a Floette watching you from the upper branches.

"What you're saying is literally insane. You're choosing to IGNORE the facts in favor of telling yourself it's all okay. Because if you just think of them as tools like you do, it's that much easier to justify to yourself that a life in a little box doing nothing but producing offspring is a good one."

"Speeds up time."

"It's been like that all my life. We make ample use of virtualboxes when we can't take them out to the routes. They're nearby."

"Hmm. Maybe I should give you a demonstration myself someday. I need to go for now, but I'll contact you again! Don't give into the luddites. Think for yourself."

scan it with the pokedex, be sure to pay attention to its type this time.

"Finish it with Quick Attack! Go!"

Roll #1 7 = 7

"We'll weather whatever you throw at us!"

Can't hear him walked off already

doo doo doo

"That's it? It's not enough to let them work at their own pace?"

Frillish is fast asleep…

Floette hurt itself in confusion!

Floette L20 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Venom L15 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓]

Do do dododo!

Now, let's take a look around this city! What's there to do around here?

Roll #1 10 = 10

'1d10' "that made a dent, keep it up Venom!" tackle again

Roll #1 1 = 1

This city is a bit like Adapt City. Unlike Amber City, Vanilla City, and the little towns you visited, there are no wild Pokemon in the streets. It's a very efficient city with wide streets and a number of restaurants. From here you can see the most prestigious academy in Tianxia up on a hill, and of course the Battle Tower.

The attack missed!

Floette hurt itself in confusion!

Floette L20 [▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░]

Venom L15 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓]

Whoa, the Battle Tower? That sounds interesting! Let's check that out!

Roll #1 6 = 6

Shake shake shake

Gotcha! Floette was caught!

Venom reached level 16!
Venom reached level 17! Venom wants to learn Leech Life!
Venom reached level 18!

This towering colossus is for young trainers who want to be the best, like no one ever was. It's a gauntlet of training that can end in great riches – or fiscal defeat.

And there are a lot of windows, too! Neat.

Oh my. Can I sign up somewhere?

get rid of.. Disable.
Smile at Venom, "I knew you could do it."
Name the Floette 'Daisy'

"So long as it holds it long enough! Sleepy, come back! Go, Lucas!"

Looks like I have that mystery container now. Any locks or so? If not, seems I should open it to check the contents.

Yes, there is a definite lock on the front of it. It has no markings except for the solitary letter S.

Battle Tower… there's a lobby at the base, if you think you're tuff enuff.

Venom shakes a little bit, pleasantly.

I'll head to the Pokemon center to get my brand new teammate healed up and fighting fit.

Do do dododo

"Your Pokemon are fighting fit. We hope to see you again."

So, is there a shrine or something here?

I'll head back out to Route 10, and put Typhoon into the front of the party.
Gonna start searching around for something for him to train on.

Roll #1 6 = 6

I think so!
"Excuse me, can I sign up for the tower battles?"

Guess I have no choice but to be a mule for this thing. I'd rather not risk any safety features for now. I'll head to Server Valley and heal up my Pokes.

Your intuition tells you, based on the number of wild Pokemon here, probably so. You've yet to see anything that jumps out as shrine-y, though.

There's a grumpy Pineco in a nearby bush.

You're in charge, Typhoon!

"Of course. You stand in the mighty enclave of Tycoon Tiberius, first among equals of the Tower Tycoons of Tianxia. We have two programs: Amateur, for average level 25, or Expert for average level 50. You are limited to one Pokemon, and there will be seven consecutive battles."

Roll to traverse Route 1 with no further incidents.

"Oh… level 25? I should probably come back at a later time then. Sorry."

Skating down this route with my pokehomies and some tunes coming from my Music Player.

Roll #1 4 = 4

Let's see what you've got.
"Go Typhoon, Tackle!"

Roll #1 10 = 10

Well then let's go follow some. Maybe they'll lead me somewhere.

"Good luck, then. When the time comes, visit each of the Battle Towers to test your might."

You and your homies are confronted by a landshark! Wait, no, it's Relicanth!

A critical hit!

Foe Pineco used Tackle!

Pineco L5 [▓▓▓▓░░░░░░]

Typhoon L4 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

In the nearby trees, you spot Emolga storing nuts. There are Joltik on the power lines, siphoning power. You see a Voltorb rolling down in an alleyway. A little flock of Magnemite fly in from the western side of town.

Oh right, I should Pokedex this wild pokemon.
"Great job, go and hit him even harder! Tackle!"

Roll #1 2 = 2

Well it's not gonna be in a tree, and I hope it's not in a power line, so…maybe down that alleyway?

"Lucas, use Foresight!"

"Canvas, you first. Try to hold out for Pallet and Pincel."

"I will!"
Damn! I need to train more!
The academy and the gym are for later, let's go train first! Now I know route 9 is some kind of a reserve or something… so let's head east instead and see what we can find outside of this city.

Huh. I guess it's nice for them to leave out free meals, but that doesn't look very safe. Besides, aren't those things known for exploding?

Let's keep looking!

Rock Tomb!

Relicanth L15 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

Canvas L10 [▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░]

Where shall you search next? Nothing here gives off much of a shrine vibe to you.

Well I am sort of out of my element. How about near that breeding institution again? It did seem lively.

"Don't let it scare you, Lyra! Electro Ball!"

Foe Gastly used Sucker Punch!!

Gastly L22 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

Lyra L18 [▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░]

Frillish used Absorb! A critical hit!! It was super effective!

Water gun wasn't very effective…

Pearl L15 [▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░]

It was a complete miss! Pineco swung back around with a Tackle!

Pineco L5 [▓▓░░░░░░░░]

But it failed! Foe Gastly used Confuse Ray! Lyra was confused!

This isn't gonna work, "Take a break Typhoon."
I'll return Typhoon and throw out Storm.

Roll #1 10 = 10

Yeah, I guess they wouldn't really want to hang out here. Hmm.
Oh hey, how about the source of all this electricity? There has to be a power plant somewhere, and electric types would naturally gather there.

OF course it knows absorb… I should have taken the time to pick up an electric type…
"Pearl, come back! Sleepy, you're back up!"

"Pallet, I'm afraid your up next."

Struggle Bug '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

Put her back in her ball.
Send out Wilbur!

Pineco L5 [▓▓░░░░░░░░]

Storm L6 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

You head over where the signs indicate a Power Plant. There seem to be a lot of electric types congregating outside. It's a very industrial area… not like your pleasant, clean, residential and commercial Phlox at all.

Relicanth used Rock Tomb! But Pallet evaded the attack!

Rock Tomb!

Sleepy fainted!

"You'd have to ask the Master himself! I do know he knows a lot about generating energy though – he's the foreman of this power plant! If you want to beat him, I recommend having an Electric Type."

Good job everyone, let's get you some rest. Pokemon Center!

You hike into town, and you are immediately struck with a sense of unease that you can't explain. Although this town is quite pleasant and filled with cheerful people and Pokemon, something seems very odd. Roll perception.

You head back. Do do dododo!

"Really? But aren't' they not very effective against each other?"

Well, this is it, isn't it.
"Pearl, you're the last one. We're not going without a fight, though! Use Water Gun!" '1d10'

Typhoon reached level 5. Typhoon learned Tail Whip!
Storm reached level 7.

"The Shrine Keeper here probably isn't going to want to fight you traditionally!"

A critical hit! Frillish fainted!

You come to the odd realization that you are the oldest person you see here. There are tons of children all over this town – playing, or going about business, ranging from preschool to nearly as old as you are – but not a single adult in sight. What?

You spot an annoying Aipom in a nearby tree.

2spooky! A Drifloon drifts on by! You're in charge, Durian.

"Probably not but we're gonna try anyway!"

Hell yeah, let's keep looking.

Roll #1 9 = 9

Well, do they still have a pokemon center? '1d10' keep looking around.

Could it be? An exceedingly rare Munchlax is hanging out in a nearby branch. Better not let any of these other trainers find out…

They do indeed! You'd know that red roof anywhere.

You head out into the big city, like a sheep.

Drifloon used Omnious Wind!

Drifloon L20 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

Durian L19 [▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░]

"Now, Rollout!"

Roll #1 2 = 2

"Alright, Pearl, this is gonna be tough! Use Agility!"

Well, then to the pokemon center. Rolling to check it out for anything weird. '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

"Hey there, want some food?"

Hey, you were the one who suggested it. Now let's see what I can find. Do any of the routes out have something I can use?

File: 1386886783943.png (379.04 KB, 2418x998, routes.png)

Super effective!

Drifloon used Omnious Wind!

Drifloon L20 [▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░]

Durian L19 [▓▓▓░░░░░░░]

Wailmer used Hurricane. The attack missed!

Pearl's speed sharply rose!

The weirdest thing to you is that nothing else seems too out of the ordinary… for a society with all these children and no adults out supervising… well, common sense tells you that something should have happened. You've had to watch little kids before, you know they get into trouble or scrape their knees or something. They definitely run around irresponsibility. Why is everything so orderly here? Those kids who ARE playing are staying out of trouble. Weird.

You head into the Pokemon Center. There's no MART in this one, and it's really ancient. There's a PC here, but it's one of those super old models. Only one light is on, which leaves the building kinda oddly dark, though there's plenty of light streaming in through the windows. There's also no attending nurse… I guess you can use this as an opportunity to try to figure out how the healing machine works.

Come to think of it, the light still is bright considering the hour. Usually in Winter, the sun has started to get quite low, but it's almost as if this glen really is perpetually in autumn.

I meant you were like

Well, see the map for yourself:

Munchlax eyes you suspiciously from its branch, but seems hungry enough to listen.

Super effective!

Drifloon used Omnious Wind!

Drifloon L20 [▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░]

Durian L19 [▓▓▓░░░░░░░]

Keep rolling out!

Roll #1 6 = 6

Drifloon used Omnious Wind! Durian fainted. Use next Pokemon?

"Pearl, use Take Down!" '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

"Lyra! You're up again! Electro Ball!"

Roll #1 5 = 5

"It can't be that hard.. And you know I really do like autumn.. I bet Venom and Rena don't thou, bugs usually hide in autumn.."
go up to the healing machine and figure it out. '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

"If you want to come down and hang out with me for a bit, we can go into town and I can get you whatever you want to eat, as much as you want too."

Let's try that west road.

Super effective! Drifloon fainted.

Lyra reached level 20.

Durian reached level 20.

Pearl hurt by recoil!

It wasn't very effective…

Wailmer L16 [▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░]

Pearl L15 [▓░░░░░░░░░]

It seems easy enough. You set your Pokeballs on the machine and press a button. It glows and makes music.

Do do dododo!

West Road… The Magnemite are out in force tonight. Whole swarms of them. There's plenty of tall grass for other Pokemon to hide in, too.

Munchlax seems confused by what you're saying. You're probably going to have to show, rather than tell.

Of course, you are on a route full of berry trees…

"This place is rough! Let's go get you all patched up."
Back to the pokécenter!

Roll #1 6 = 6

You retreat. Do do dododo.

I shake the nearest tree to try and get some berries. If any come down, I'll hold them out to Munchlax in the friendliest way possible.

Forgot the tail end '

Roll #1 8 = 8

Right. Has enough time passed that an egg should have been laid now?

Let's get back out there, I have to train more.

Roll #1 7 = 7

Neat, now boot up the PC, put up Blue and Willow.

Magnemite! Neat! Scan!

You get a handful of random berries and attempt to lure down the Munchlax. It seems tentatively interested in your offering and slowly creeps down the side of the tree toward you.

You check in on the box and there is no egg yet.

Just when you think you're safe, it's Misdreavus, from behind!

But Willow was already in the box…

Deposited Blue into the PC. You have one slot open.

Magnet Pokemon
Type: Electric/Steel
Status: Wild
Apx Level: 15
The units at the sides of its body generate antigravity energy to keep it aloft in the air.

Party check then?

These Ghost types are sneaky!
Lyra is in front right?

"Thunder Wave!"

Roll #1 6 = 6

"It's ok, I won't hurt you. Eat whatever you want."

Roll #1 10 = 10

Well let's get started. Go, Mils! Confuuuuusion!

Roll #1 5 = 5

File: 1386888054402.png (199.72 KB, 1646x1391, Teams.png)

Misdreavous used Confuse Ray! Lyra was confused!

Misdreavous was paralyzed! It might not attack!

By blind luck, you seem to have selected a berry blend that creates a flavor that Munchlax likes very much. He scarfs it down, then gives you a look that seems to insist for more.

You… probably should have taken a closer look at what kind of berries those were. You remember that there are five different flavors berries have – guessing right could cement your friendship, and guessing wrong could anger it!

It wasn't very effective…

Magnemite used Thunder Wave! Millie was paralyzed, she might not attack!

That's right!
"Hit it with an Electro Ball, Lyra!"

Roll #1 9 = 9

Hm. This might take a bit of doing. Use Growl!

Roll #1 7 = 7

I'll glance at the tree I shook berries from, as well as the other nearby trees.

Well, okay. I guess just one slot is fine. Lets go outside and talk to somebody.

It may have been prudent to use the hormones… eh, let's see the results without.

Right, of all the routes around home, I haven't been to West Road. Let's walk there.

Oh, let Mismar out. I wonder if he has any special attachment to this town.

Magnemite used Magnet Bomb!

Foe Magnemite's attack fell!

Magnemite L18 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░]

Millie L15 [▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░]

Let's see… ugh, the first three trees nearby are obviously bearing different kinds of fruit, but they're all red. One is small and oval-shaped, the next is similar, but with a yellow coloration near the bottom. The third has weird, jutting appendages. The last nearby berry looks very different: a light green with yellow streaks.

Misdreavous used Mean Look – Lyra can't escape!

Misdreavous L20 [▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░]

Lyra L19 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓]

There are plenty of kids about, all viable options. Other than the Pokemon Center, you don't see much else in town except a few houses and a daycare center. There's a pond nearby where some baby Pokemon are playing.

You head out the western gates. Nearby, Jake is battling Magnemite.

let out Daisy and see which direction she goes. '1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

That's fine!
"Another one Lyra!"

Roll #1 9 = 9

Okay, that's enough of that. Go, Heinz! Use Incinerate!

Roll #1 4 = 4

Hmm? Oh right, that guy.

Switch Mismar for Owlene. Can I help him?

Green with yellow stripes, let's hope he likes it.

'It doesn't matter what's in me, everything is riding on Pearl! And I have faith in her! Pearl, one last take down!" '1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

Daisy, being a Fairy type is naturally attracted to kids, so she floats off on her flower toward the day care.

Certainly, but you could scare off the Pokemon.

Magnet Bomb! Not very effective.

Magnemite L18 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░]

Heinz L13 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Thunder shock! A critical hit! Heinz fainted!

Magnemite L18 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░]

Heinz L13 [░░░░░░░░░░]

You pick the only Bitter berry in the bunch to give to the Munchlax – but he wanted a Spicy berry, which would have been any of the other three options!

Angrily, he retreats back up his tree.

A critical hit! Wailmer fainted!

It almost seems as though the rain slows, and then stops… in the aftermath of your battle, the field is quiet in the misty aftermath of the 'rain'.

"You've surprised me, trainer! You did find refuge from the storm – in your Pokemon team. For besting me and learning that you can find refuge in any cataclysm with your friends, you've earned the Cavern Badge. May you always have a Cavern to take shelter in, metaphorical or not. I'd also like to give you TM55 – TM55 contains Scald. Use it to burn your foes as you wash them away."

Got 2500P for winning!

Misdreavous used Astonish!

Misdreavous L20 [▓▓░░░░░░░░]

Lyra L19 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

Oh geez. Go, Nightlight. Ember!

Roll #1 4 = 4

Let's try one of these pokéballs!
"For science!"

Roll #1 5 = 5

I'll sigh in dissapointment. Guess I should have paid more attention in Berry class.
I'm going to go look for a trainer battle.

Roll #1 2 = 2

I'll just be dumbstruck for a minute.
"I can hardly believe it either…"
I'll square my shoulders a moment, and then look Wallis in the eye.
"Thank you for the lesson. I accept the cavern badge, and the TM, with pride."

Scare off? Not an option.

"Need any help?"

Send out Trish. Spider web the magnemite.

Roll #1 4 = 4

Magnemite used Thunder Shock!

Ember was Super Effective!

Magnemite L18 [▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░]

Litwick L15 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

Magnemite was webbed.

It wasn't even close!

You spot a trainer nearby, lock eyes, and join battle.

YOUNGSTER KYLE wants to fight!

"I LIKE SHORTS! They're comfy and easy to wear!"

He nods. "Good luck to you, then. The water level will rise again once you ride the buoy back out."

It's paralyzed right? This is going to be tough…

Roll #1 9 = 9

I'll turn, but stop.
"Actually, I have one question. In the Phlox shrine, and maybe even in this one, I noticed that the pokemon who lived in it reacted negatively to me. Is that just because I'm from the city, or is there something they can see that I haven't learned how to yet?"

Again! Also, scan its catch rate.

"I think I can do this. I've caught tougher ones."

Roll #1 9 = 9

"You're in charge, Typhoon!"

Follow her around, she seems to have a better clue than me right now. "Alright Daisy, who do you think we should talk to? Just go up to them." And talk to whoever she approaches.

You're sitting right at 24%.

Shake shake

Shake shake

Shake shake shake

Gotcha! Misdreavus was caught!

Give a nickname to caught Misdreavus?

"I don't know about the Phlox Shrine, but you would know if the Pokemon here didn't like you."

Catch Rate: 25% (Current: 60%)

Magnemite used Thunder Shock!

Ember was Super Effective!

Magnemite L18 [▓▓▓░░░░░░░]

Litwick L15 [▓▓▓▓░░░░░░]

YOUNGSTER KYLE sent out Rattata!

They're staring each other down…

Daisy doesn't understand what you're saying. You literally just caught her, she is still mostly wild.

Instead she floats over to a window and stares in the daycare, because Fairies like kids.

"Go, Tackle!"

Roll #1 9 = 9

… What's its gender?

Roll #1 1 = 1

I'll chuckle a little weakly.
"Yeah, I guess so. Here's hoping your next challenger puts up a good fight, Shrinekeeper."
And I'll make my way to buoy, sneezing once before riding it back to the exit. And then I go get everyone healed up.

"It's still difficult, though. And nice Litwick"

Switch out for Owlene.

Rattata L5 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Typhoon L5 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Do do dododo

Roll #1 2 = 2

Now Astonish!

Roll #1 7 = 7

"Don't give him any ground, Tackle!"

Roll #1 6 = 6

Eh', fine just return her and send out Solaire. "Hey, help me out buddy, I'm not sure who to talk to here." and then open the daycare and follow him. '1d10' does anyone here look like they want to talk or anything?

Roll #1 3 = 3

Right, and with my newfound wealth… Three potions is 900P, three pokeballs for 600P, should probably pick up a burn heal for Crimsonborough's shrine… if I can actually get one. That might be something that needs two certifications.

"I'll call you… Emma!"

This daycare is full of preschoolers! But there's noone looking after them…

Wait – there is an adult here. It's that bespectacled man. You remember him! He used to hang out in the Mint Town Calligraphy school – and you saw him hanging out outside that sauna that was the Poison Shrine. He was even up there in the observation room at the Bug Shrine.

He gives you a friendly wave.

Emma was sent to slot 6.

You attempt to pay with incorrect change and the clerk catches you for trying to pull a fast one. "I can tell you're from the city."

Rattata L5 [▓▓▓▓░░░░░░]

Typhoon L5 [▓▓▓▓░░░░░░]

Thundershock missed!

Magnemite L18 [▓░░░░░░░░░]

Litwick L15 [▓▓▓▓░░░░░░]

That's it! Go, Pokeball!

Roll #1 6 = 6

"Well done Lyra! You handled that expertly."
Must keep training. Pokemon, trainers, whatever!

Roll #1 10 = 10

Roll #1 6 = 6

"Decent throw there!"

"Oh, right… things are more expensive out this way. Sorry, I forgot. What's the difference I owe you?"

"I've had practice!"

Gotcha! Magnemite was caught!

Kawaiiiii. A rare Litwick is on the road!

Lyra, you're in charge!

Rattata L5 [▓░░░░░░░░░]

Typhoon L5 [▓░░░░░░░░░]

"It's 300P more… so that's 1800P in all. We do have Burn Heal, though, for 200P. That's 2000P overall."

"Lyra, Thunder Wave!"

Roll #1 9 = 9

"Typhoon, return. Get ready to go, Rain!"

Roll #1 1 = 1

"Congrats. I wonder where you might be able to evolve that into a magnezone some day. You have some nice pokemon with you. "

"Hey, you haven't even seen them all yet."

Whisper to Oddish "hey Solaire, keep an eye out for me okay? I've seen this guy an awful lot, its kind of strange"
Approach him with a smile "Hey, I've seen you before! You were in the Bug Shrine. How did you get around the barrier?"

"Litwick and Magnemite. Those two are pretty strong on their own. I saw a guy with a Larvesta and Riolu, you know? Pokemon in their youth before they grow strong are fascinating. "

"Thanks! Sorry about that."
I'll hand over the balance.
"You wouldn't happen to know of any berry shops, would you? Or poffins?"

Litwick was paralyzed! it might not attack.

Litwick used Ember!

Litwick L19 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓]

Lyra L19 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Rattata used Tackle!

Rain L5 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

"YO! CHAMP IN THE MAKING! Barrier? Oh, it doesn't matter. I guess you're here to challenge the Fairy Shrine! Makes sense after all those places you've been! Anyway, you should know – the Fairy Gym seems frozen in time. It'll be all about your moves if you want to beat the Shrine Keeper! Don't let looks deceive you!"

"Berry shops? Not this far north. Berry trees prefer more southernly climates, but they make poffins in Phlox."

"Go, Tackle!"

Roll #1 1 = 1

"I'm from Phlox, actually. I was hoping to find berries so I could make my own… Thanks, though. Looks like I'm heading south next… not that there's much further north to go, right?"I'll crack a small smile.

"Now, Electro Ball!"

Roll #1 5 = 5

Rattata evaded the attack.

Rain L5 [▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░]

"There's just snow up north."

Litwick used Night Shade! A Critical hit!

Lyra fainted!

Litwick L19 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Use next?

"Again, Tackle!"

Roll #1 8 = 8

Send out Wilbur!
"Gust it!"

Roll #1 4 = 4

"Uh-huh. Well, have a good day."
And then I'll leave the store and see if there's a ferry or something so I don't have to head through Phlox again. Cruise tickets might be expensive, but it'll put me right in Fandango city.

He-he's gone

Sigh and go back to check my breeding box again

Litwick used Ember!

Litwick L19 [▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░]

Wilbur L20 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

Foe fainted!

"Wah! No waaaay!"

Got 180P for winning!

Typhoon reached level 6.
Rain reached level 6.

You have a choice between a cruise ticket and an inexpensive fairy. The cruise promises to be excellent both in opportunities and leisure, but it's a staggering 5000P. The ferry is a simple 500P, but will just take you straight to Fandango.

What kind of moderner wants to go so deep into the rural regions, though?

Nothing new. Watch pot never boils.

"Another Gust!"

Roll #1 9 = 9

The kind who needs to balance the odds against the gyms he's going against. It would be stupid to not think other gyms won't have fairy types, and poison types are one of the strongest against them. I'll take the cheap ferry.

Litwick used Ember!

Litwick L19 [▓▓░░░░░░░░]

Wilbur L20 [▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░]

To hell with it!
"Pokéball go!"

Roll #1 6 = 6

Bah. Any trainers around to spar with?

Shake shake

Lyra reached level 20.

On a route? Surely. There are mostly Hikers and Super Nerds here.

mf '1d2'

Roll #1 2 = 2

"Good job, both of you."
I'll head back into town and get them healed up, and purchase a Poke Ball.
I'll swap Storm into the lead, and pay a visit to East Road to look for Pokemon.

Roll #1 9 = 9

This spooky road is infamous for its Ghost types.

You spot a girl trainer who seems to have just caught a Pokemon nearby.

"Well done!"

Another female?
"How about… Freya!"

You ride the ferry to Fandango.

Soon, you find yourself at the docks, ever-busy with fishermen.

Freya was sent to the PC.

I'll wave to her.
"Hey there, feel like battling?"

Roll #1 9 = 9

"Uh? Sure do!"

Let's head into town. See what's up with this place.

It's a pretty small town, like the others you've been in lately. Mostly residential, but a number of fish shops. The style is pretty traditional. There's a little adventuring shop near the docks.

Besides the roads out of down at the gates, there's a dirt road up northwest that leads into a smaller forest that isn't walled off by the city.

"Wait, you actually look kinda tough…how many badges do you have?"

"Two shrine badges and a cert. You?"

Mismar to front. Challenge a Hiker.

Hmm. Wonder what pokemon live there?
Before I forget, I'll use TM55 on Pearl, replace Charm. Then I'll hit the center and swap Eggward for Cinder, and Pearl for Fish. He needs some training… let's put him at the front of the party so I can switch him out when I find something.

"Nada, not even close to getting one. How about we swap phone numbers and battle once I stand a chance?"

"That sounds like a plan!"
Swap numbers with him.
"You're a city trainer as well, aren't you? If you ever go visit some shrines, watch yourself. There's a lot of people out there that don't like cityfolk."

Uh-uh… guy?

"Yeah, I once met a guy who had a Larvesta. He helped me catch my Pinsir."

"Oh, did you? what was his name? I don't see a lot of Larvesta about."

"Chris, I think. He was also from Phlox. And the forest up on the northern road is full of them. They're all over the trees in the evening."

"Oh, that one! I met him before. He had nice Pokemon with him. By the way, I don't think I have your name?"

"It's Jake. You were that guy who was arguing for the breeding center, weren't you?"

"Yes, it was me. I'm Arthur. It's good to meet you."

"Yeah. What were you doing in there anyway?"

"Left my Grimer and Gastly in there. Hoping to raise a Gastly with enhanced poison attributes, myself, so it's the first project I've done since I graduated from school! Before that, I bred Mismar here."

Show my Staryu.

I look at it.
"Really? And how'd you do that?"

"Learned about what makes up a Pokemon. Their genes.. and how to pass them down. How to make a Pokemon's progeny better. We use lots of dittos, they really like doing it."

"Yeah, I bet they do. Sorry, but the whole process just seems soulless to me."

"Does it need to have a soul? It's a means to an end. That end is whatever gives anything meaning, doesn't it? It's safe and harmless, that should be enough."

"I can't agree with that. There shouldn't be any 'means to an end' there. It does really sound like you're just exploiting them. What happens to the parents then? Do they get to raise their children?"

"It doesn't exactly work like that. Eggs raised in captivity hatch with pokemon that are… functionally adult. You could say the entire childhood takes place within the egg. The parents continue doing whatever they were doing, though Might have to trim down my team sooner or later. I hope someone can take care of a Grimer, at least.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with exploiting pokemon if they're treated well. Aren't we all exploiting them by catching and bringing them with us? But we mutually benefit, so no harm is done."

"Doesn't that depend on the species though? Besides, there are pokemon out there that have family structures and show child-rearing behavior. And I've never been sold on balls. About the only member of my team that seems to like them is the Porygon."

"Porygon is remarkable, really. It's a Pokemon made by humans, for humans. You have one?"

"And yes, Pokemon do have these structures, but they're mainly seen in the wild. In captivity, these behaviors myy occur, but they're less significant. A trainer is able to fill many roles for a Pokemon, thankfully."

"Yeah, I found it living inside a broken Pokedex on Route 5. He really seems to like Poffins for some reason."
"Anyway, I guess we can be many things to them, and I love all of my friends, but I don't think we should be substitute parents as well."

"A Pokemon's personality would have been programmed into it, of course. It wouldn't be complete other wise."

Show the Upgrade.

"See if you can get yourself one of these. You'll see your Porygon grow."

"And, well, I guess that's your view. Proof shows otherwise, but it's fine if you're not comfortable with it, I guess."

"I suppose. I'm happy just being friends with them. It really should be up to them whether or not we put them through something like that in my opinion. Where'd you get that anyway?"

"True. I do wish I could understand my Pokemon more. It's taking a long time, but I can read them a little better than before."

"Oh, and, it was from the Server Valley Box servers. Where the box system is located. The guys there were awesome, they gave it to me."

"Hmm… you might be able to use it better. Do you want it?"

"Phlox City has lots of places that might help with that. I have a bunch of their poffins here with me. I think DC would like that disc though, if you're offering."

"Let me try some of those poffins, and I'll give you this. Where are you from, anyway?"

"Phlox son, born and raised. Got my starter from the shrine there."
I give over some poffins.
"Sorry, they're not the highest quality. The gourmet stuff is pretty expensive, and money isn't easy to get when you're a trainer."

"I should know. I'm saving for a reserve license, TMs, equipment, and the occasional luxury for my Pokemon. It's hard."

Hand him the disc.

"Take good care of your Porygon. Being artificial makes it no less alive and real, you know?"

"Don't I know it. He nearly attacked me for one of those things at first! But I'm sure he'll appreciate this. Thanks."
Take the upgrade.
"Say, you have a dex, don't you?"

"Yeah, I do. What of it?"

"Thanks for the advice, I'll keep that in mind. By the way, I'm Kenneth, what should I put your name down as?"

"But Mister, you use moves in every pokemon battle, what's different here?"

"They're more important – you'll see!"

You're both still on the West Road.

Gave up on learning Safeguard.

"Wanna register?"

I believe I'd just gotten into Fandango, and was looking around.

Relicanth nicknamed Camo, after his scale pattern.

"Alright everyone, we've probably taken on more than we can today and added a new friend. Let's head back to Server Valley and get ourselves fixed up and this thing opened."

Register him all properlike.

Do do dododo.

It's a pretty small town, like the others you've been in lately. Mostly residential, but a number of fish shops. The style is pretty traditional. There's a little adventuring shop near the docks.

"Right, I'm going to go check on my pokemon again. See you around."

Go back to Amber, breeding center. Check for egg

First step, let's find out what is in this container. For that, we'll need a Locksmith, so we'll use the search feature in our Pokedex to track one down.

"Sweet. I think I'm gonna head back into town. Where are you heading off too?"

Naming the Magnemite Jeeg.

Or that.
Back into the city.

"Back to town, too. You're going to go get your Magnemite, right? Going to get pokemon myself."

I wonder if I should bring more than just Cinder… Nah, we'll be fine.
Anyway, with Fish at the front of the party order, I'll walk into the Adventure shop. See what they've got for sale, and maybe I can gather a bit of information about the local area. Maybe there's a shrine here, too.

"Yeah, probably. I'd like to see what he's made of. I need to do some more training as well."

Looks like you have an egg waiting…

The GPS function leads you to a shady looking dive in the underbelly of downtown Server Valley, far below groundlevel in the twisting tunnels of the underworld. The sign reads:

There's an older man working the counter and he gives you a friendly nod as you enter. Looks like they have a few items… Pokeballs, Greatballs, Potions, Super Potions, Mail, Escape Rope, and food.

Take it.
How long to hatch?

It feels cold and it's not moving… it will take a while to hatch.

You settle up your bill when you collect the egg. Leave your Pokemon here to continue breeding?

No choice but to move forward. Make sure my gear is in place and Pallet is securely on my head, not carrying anything dangerous. Go ahead and walk in.

"Good day."
Hmm. Escape rope might be useful at some point. Wonder how much it is?
"Pardon me, but how much are the Escape Ropes?"

Nah, take them out.

How do they look?

So, this place is still pretty grody. What's down south?

Calling this place a shady dive was probably an understatement. There's a meathook hanging from the ceiling with a computer case impaled on it. The whole shop is full of computer guts and disassembled locks. A burly man in a suit glares at you as you walk in – he seems to be with another man in a suit. They're both wearing flag lapel pins – but the flag is not Tianxia's. There's a lanky albino behind the counter arguing with the second man in a suit, who seems to be upset about something.

The burly suited guy coughs as you approach, and the second suited man seems to grow frustrated and stands up. "We'll be in touch. Come on, let's go."

With that, the suits take off. The albino stares at you expectantly. "Well?"

see >>5083

"600P, young man."

They seem disinterested in each other. Purple seems pleased to see you, Gastly is detached.

Sorry, Purple, but for the interests of the child, I need to have Gastly with me, wait, actually, why not both of you?

Deposit Owlene. Bring Egg, Gastly and Purple Haze with me.
Go to west road while trying to recall how eggs hatch.

"I'll take one, please."
That puts me at 480p.
"So, I've just come into town from the ferry, and was wondering if you might be able to tell me what sort of pokemon to expect in the woods around here?"

Put the container on the shelf.

"Found this container and I thought it looked cool, but its locked. How much to open it?"

Hm. Let's head further south then. Maybe I can spot something interesting by looking really hard over those safari zone fences.

You don't have enough room for the egg in your party.

Failing to report all earnings will result in a 400P fine. File an immediate earnings report.

He slides it closer and takes a look, dragging a magnifying glass over it. He taps it a few times with a little hammer and then licks it.

"Got bad news for you, kiddo. This is psysteel. It's intelligent: no one can pick this lock, or, well, maybe… yeah, no one . No chance you have the key, then… I could smash it open, but that could damage what's inside. Where'd you get a box with this kinda metal?"

There's not much but grass this close to the route. The Safari Zone is huge, after all. Most of the sights are on the path itself: This route is full of Stunfisk and other badlands inhabitants.

"Found it while practicing with my pals here." Point to Pallet. "I thought it looked like a nice surface to practice my tagging on, and that's when I found it."

"You were kinda jumping around getting this lock open, care to enlighten a noob like me?"

Stunfisk, huh? Probably not a very good matchup for little Heinz. Well, let's see what we can find.

Roll #1 4 = 4

Mismar, Trish, Kala, Egg, Gastly, Purple Haze.

Should be safe to put in Ampere now.

Now go to West Road while trying to recall how eggs exactly hatch.

Earnings to date: as of before the Cyan shrine, you had me at 680P. I received 400P from the minion, and another 2500 from Wallis, putting me at 3580. After that, I went shopping and got charged more than usual at the shops for three pokeballs, three potions, and one burn heal. Totaling 2000P, which brings me down to 1580P. Then I got a ride on the ferry, which cost 500P, leaving me with 1080P. This Escape Rope, which costs 600P, will therefore bring me down to 480. Accounts verified.

I guess its time to see, give him a nod and head into the day care.. I mean shrine..

"Clopped it dobby for the resonance frequency. I ain't fillyin' you, malchick. Had a messel it might answer my yahzick. The uh… yahma here, see? Had to smot inside to see the shifting lomtick. Even my polyclef can't open that. All part of the rabbit."

You spot a nearby pack of Helioptile. You're in charge, Millie!

"Poison types, mostly… Keep an eye out for Ekans and Beedrill, especially. You might want some Antidote – we have that, too. And food."

A bunch of preschoolers are playing inside here, but there are no adults supervising them.

Well, some of them are "playing". Most are reading or watching TV. It's all pretty orderly for a preschool class.

Eggs will hatch over time from the warmth of being close to a person holding them.

I'll look at him a little curiously.
"How would the food help? As a distraction?"

Awww here it goes. Double Team!

Roll #1 8 = 8

I should make a strap of some kind to hold the egg. For now just hold onto it.

Mismar to front. Let's do some training in West Road. go look for Hikers.

"Guess it's going to stay as mystery box then. I wonder why anyone would just up and leave this thing?"

"Eh, maybe it was some guys idea for a letter of resignation. His, or her's, loss. It'll be a might nice box for me to practice my skills."

Step on out, and head towards the Pokemart again. I need another Pokeball before I head out to Phlox.

Huh, sit down with one of them. Have Solaire out next to me. "Hey. What are you reading?" I'll try to start a conversation.

"Well, I've noticed that over time if people don't eat they die of starvation."

There are a few Hikers here. You lock eyes with one at random.

"Ho ho ho. Here to fight, huh? Okay, here we go!"

HIKER BYRON wants to fight!

HIKER BYRON sent out Graveler!

You're in charge, Mismar!

Evasiveness rose!

Foe Helioptile used Thunder Shock! The attack missed!

"Good luck, nadsat loony."

You head into the MART. 200P for a ball.

She looks up. "This? It's May's Winnetou – it's uh, about natives and settlers in early Unova."

She blinks at you. "I don't think I've seen you around town before. Oh! Are you here to visit the shrine, or are you immigrating?"

I'll laugh a little.
"Well, that is true. How much?"

"Ho ho! Mismar! Water Gun!"

Roll #1 6 = 6

Roll #1 9 = 9

I have 1615P, right? Pay the person if I do.

Talk to the salesperson at the Mart.
"So, hear any word on cool stuff that's happening here or in Phlox?"

"I'm traveling to see all the shrines! I'm Emily." I smile and pet oddish. "And this is Solaire, my partner."

"It's honeyloaf. The honey will stay fresh forever, but the bread will go stale if you don't eat it. It's 500P a loaf, but you look a little short on funds… we could work something out, maybe."

Super effective!

Graveler L25 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Mismar L18 [▓░░░░░░░░░]

Done and done.

"All the way down in Phlox? That's a long way when Server Valley is so busy. There's always something going on, but I guess you're a little young for clubs, right? You like Rock-types, by the looks of that Shuckle. Have you ever thought of visiting the Big Dig, out west? They resurrect Fossil pokemon here in Server Valley."

Foe Helioptile used Thundershock!

Helioptile L17 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Millie L15 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

She gives a pleasant smile. "Well, good to do it while you're young. Your Oddish looks cute. You should get… him, or her? A bow while you're in town."

"What did you have in mind?"

Blink confused. "What you mean? You aren't planning to go on a journey yourself in a few years?"

Give it another shot!

Roll #1 2 = 2

"You can do it! you're faster! WATER GUN!"

It's a double weakness, remember?

Roll #1 6 = 6

"That sounds Fantabular, actually. After I get a little culture from the towns with Contests in 'em, I might just deviate out there. Thanks a bunch."

Head out with my new Pokeball, make sure all my Mons are with me, and head north to Phlox."

"Well, what can you afford?"

Thundershock missed!

Helioptile L17 [▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░]

Millie L15 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

You're right, the other was Ultra Effective.

Mismar fainted!

Graveler L25 [▓░░░░░░░░░]

Mismar L18 [░░░░░░░░░░]

To the Trash Route you go. Roll to traverse.

"Hang in there!"

Roll #1 3 = 3

Don't mind the high speed kid with the questionable container, alright?

Traverse. '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

"I'm short 20P for the honey bread."
I'll think a moment.
"You wouldn't happen to need anything delivered or anything, would you?"

"Good work as always!"

"Kala! Use Thief!"

Roll #1 5 = 5

"Oh, no, not me. I immigrated for a reason! Why would I want to travel the world and spend time with adults when I moved here to escape them? You should consider staying yourself. I don't know why anyone would want to grow up."

HIKER BYRON used Full Restore!

Graveler L25 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░]

Kala L19 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓]

He shrugs. "I'll just let it slide. 20P is 20P."

Apparently the native Trubbish do mind! One lashes out – you're in charge, Pallet!

Helioptile L17 [▓▓▓░░░░░░░]

Millie L15 [▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░]

"We got this Pallet."

Struggle Bug '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

"Well, I don't want it to seem like I'm cheating you. There's got to be something I can do to make up the difference? Sweep a floor, wash a display case?"

"Tch. Slowly now… Thief!"

Roll #1 4 = 4

Switch out, Heinz! Fire Fang!

Roll #1 7 = 7

"What do you mean? Why wouldn't you grow up?"

It wasn't very effective…

Trubbish used Acid! It wasn't very effective.

Trubbish L16 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░]

Pallet L16 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░]

"Nah, forget about it. If it'll make you feel better, tell people you liked the loaf as you travel."

"Defense Curl!"

Graveler L25 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

Kala L19 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓]

Helioptile L17 [▓▓▓░░░░░░░]

Heinz L13 [▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░]

"Don't you know? How could you not see the signs, or hear the stories? Haven't you wondered why it is still autumn here? Why it's forever September? Nothing grows in Autumn Glen - not even the people. I might look four, but I've been here almost two decades! This town is full of runaways and others who didn't want to put up with adults anymore and heard the legends."

"I can do that, easy."
I'll hand over the rest of my money, all 480P, and be broke.

"Have a nice day."

Roll #1 10 = 10

"Regain your composure and attack."

Struggle Bug '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

"You too!"
And once we're out of the store, I'll split up the bread between myself and my six pokes.
"Eat up, guys and gals, we've got a whole new section of the world to explore."

Shake my head slowly. "I had no idea, I mean, I did find it a little odd.. but pokemon can do all kinds of things! I saw one that grew a whole field of flowers instantly! Flowers that grow all over the place too!" I say getting more excited.

A critical hit!!

Graveler used Rock Throw! It was super effective!

Graveler L25 [▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░]

Kala L19 [▓░░░░░░░░░]

It wasn't very effective…

Trubbish used Acid! It wasn't very effective.

Trubbish L16 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

Pallet L16 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

It tastes pretty good. The honey is strong.

"I don't know the cause… maybe the Shrine Keeper would know. He's been here longer than any of us. Since the beginning, I think."

"Haze! Remove that curl while you can!"

Roll #1 6 = 6

I'm sure everyone else enjoyed theirs as well. Now, it's time to head into the woods, and see what I might run into.

"Not doubting your ability Pallet, but lets try out the new guy. Camo, you're up! Use Rock Tomb!" '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Just stare at her a moment "…He's here somewhere then?"

Rock Throw! Kala fainted!

That's not good…Rage!

Roll #1 7 = 7

Let's bring up the map.

"Camo, use Rock Tomb again!" '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Togepi L5 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓]

Rena L5 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓]

"If he wants to play that game. Pallet, we're a team, just use Struggle Bug once more." '1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

I think I'll head north, towards Sapshire. Autumn Glen looks like it might be interesting.

"Alright! Bug Bite it!"

Roll #1 1 = 1

Market Road. There's something to be said for the naming scheme: the grass has been trimmed back here, so you can easily make it to Sapshire without fighting wild Pokemon. There is no dearth of them, though. The vast majority are a variety of Poison and Bug types, such as Beedrill, Venonat, Spinarak, Dustox, Venipede, even Skorupi.

Trish fainted!

Use next Pokemon?

Purple Haze! Mud-slap!

Roll #1 1 = 1

Graveler used Rock Throw, but the attack missed!

Mud-slap missed!

Tch. Go, Millie. Confusion it dead!

Roll #1 3 = 3

Again! Mud slap!

Roll #1 1 = 1

Hmm. I should probably pick one up along the way… I'll need one if I run into a fairy-type. A venipede might be a good addition to the team. Let's see if I can't find one of those by itself, so I don't get swarmed by the other bug-types. '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Helioptile used Thundershock!

Helioptile fainted!

Heinz reached level 14!

Millie reached level 16!

Graveler used Rock Throw!

Graveler L25 [▓▓▓▓░░░░░░]

Purple L17 [▓▓▓▓░░░░░░]

You spot a conclave of Venipede swarming over a comb of honey oddly positioned in a tree.

Heinz wants to learn Headbutt.

Well… shoot. Maybe if I toss it just right… Let's hurl a pokeball at one of the Venipede. Maybe I'll get lucky. '1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

You miss, and draw in the whole swarm! You're in charge, Fish!

He can replace Rage with it. Now, I've been wanting to try something…pop out Millie and use Teleport!

"Don't give up! You can do it! Mud slap! "

Roll #1 6 = 6

Oh boy. Well, it's a good thing switching out Fish was the plan.
"Hurry back, Fish! Go on out, Cinder!"

The world begins to warp all around you, and you collapse after a burst of light. When you gather yourself, you're in the Crimsonborough Pokemon Center.

It was super effective!

Oh well. Heal up.

Do do dododo!

This is ridiculous! What are the odds of all of them using the same move like that?
"Cinder, I need you to take out one more, at least! Try to dodge the rest and use another ember!" '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

Keep it with me.

Time to plan out another route from Amber. Let's go through Route 12, back to Phlox.

Attacks weren't very effective. Lucas has 40% instead and not poisoned.

"Do you feel okay Rena? Try a Fury Swipes." '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

Bach home again. I think we've earned some rest. There has to be a park around here somewhere.

"Just hang on a little more, Lucas! You're doing great! One more Quick attack, and we can make this one on one!" '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

Let's walk through quickly.

Roll #1 1 = 1

Sure, in Phlox. You stop by the public park. An old man sits on the bench, feeding the Natu. There's a lady walking her two Furfrous. Aside from that, though, it's quiet here.

What's she sending out?

That's why I love this town. It's so nice compared to the mess that was Amber. Let's pop everybody out for some quality time.

Millie, Heinz, Chopshop, Needlenose, Nightlight, and Dreamcast.

Millie seems at home here and lounges beneath a shady tree, while Heinz bounces about.

Nightlight shyly prods at Dreamcast, who makes odd computer noises.

Chopshop seems to be having difficulty finding a place here, though, and Needlenose is not at home without a pond.

A critical hit! Trubbish fainted! Pallet reached level 17! Pallet reached level 18! Camo reached level 16!

She seems pleased enough at you picking her up. It's odd… you can feel her extremely powerful muscles in spite of her tiny size. You muse on how much strength must be required to project a water gun.

"Finish him off! Acrobatics!"

Kala fainted!

"This is going about as I expected."

"Hng..! Gastly! Curse it!"

I noticed.
Alright, last one before I have to go round them up. Pokeball, go! '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

"Not the best thing that could have happened, but let's keep going everyone. Onwards to Phlox!"

Use the potion on Rena "That Fairy wind is a pretty strong move."

I guess I never really thought about it. She has such tiny fins too.
"Where does all that water come from, anyway?"

"Acrobatics, again!"

The attack missed!

Gliscor was cursed!

Togepi L5 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Rena L5 [▓▓▓░░░░░░░]

You make it the rest of the way without any trouble.

Alright, let's call him… Pillbug.
And then head straight to Sapshire's Pokemon center to get everyone healed up.

"Woah, check out the deco buildings they have going on here, Pokes. It isn't as coordinated as Talentton, but you gotta admire them trying with each house. But first, let's get some business done."

Head to Pokemon Center for healing.

After I pick up my two balls, of course. Don't want to forget those.

"Whoa, too strong. " switch to diglett

"Heh. I thought you would have forgotten Bubble by now. Did you ever know that?"

Do do dododo!

Healed up, good to go.

Do do dododo!

Sapshire is a quiet little town, but what strikes you the most is how full of Pokemon it is. It really has way more than any other town you've seen before – probably because of all the sap leaking out of trees that seems to attract plenty of Bug-types!

Wooden structures seem popular here. Whole packs of Spinarak perch on the sides of buildings, but all the Pokemon seem docile.

Needlenose bends her tube mouth about as in a mild approximation of a smile.

"Ha! Fairy Wind!"

But it missed!

>Seriously, another one

It's gastly out.
"Fitting for what you're doing."

Roll #1 2 = 2

"Go for a mud slap while its aim is down!" '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Thank goodness for that.
Let's swap out Vivi for Pillbug. Don't think she'd like it this far out of cities.
And I'll box Lola and bring out Helia. I'll need her move list. A bit of extra firepower here can't hurt.

"Excuse me Nurse, you wouldn't happen to know where the Coordinator contests are being held, right?"

"I'll take that as a yes."
I give her a pat and take a look at everyone else.

Hypnosis failed!

Gliscor used Acrobatics! Gastly fainted!

Lost health due to curse!

Gliscor L22 [▓▓░░░░░░░░]

Accuracy fell! Togepi made a "Wish!"

Togepi L5 [▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░]

Diglett L5 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓]

Bite Smog Ember Roar

"There's a great little contest hall. Furfrous are the most popular, of course, but anyone can compete. It's down Third Avenue – look for the big ribbon sign!"

Nightlight and Dreamcast seem to like each other.

Chopshop doesn't like it here in the open and is trying to climb a tree way too small to support his weight.

Millie is uneasily eying him from below that tree.

"Soon. Mismar! Water Gun! "

Roll #1 7 = 7

"Now try a Bulldoze!" '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

"Thanks Miss."

Skate on over there, let's see what the other amateur coordinators here have.

The attack missed!

It was super effective! Gliscor fainted!

"I hope you don't think that's the only trick I've got up my sleeve!"

DREAMCRUSHER LYDIA is about to send out Skarmory! Will Arthur change Pokemon?

"Fairy Wind!"

Togepi L5 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

Diglett L5 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

The Phlox City Contest Hall is pretty sweet. There's a lot of abstract street art all over the outside, in bright colors. You head into the lobby and the nurse was right – this place is mostly full of Furfrous. Still, anyone can compete.

Right, now let's head towards Autumn Glen. There should be Togepi there… Or other fairy types.

A small mountain blocks the way west, but there's a path leading to a tunnel out of the western side of town.

"I, too, am not unprepared. "

Leave Mismar out

I'll look over my Pokemon, who are still dirty after that fight with Trubbish. The smell hasn't even washed off of Pallet and Camo. I'll have to watch this one from the stands again and keep an eye on what the trainers do instead.

Let's head that way. I'll have Fish out front so I can switch him back when we run into something. Any trainers along the road? '1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

"Whoa, whoa, whoa big guy. Careful, you don't want to hurt someone out here."
I get underneath him to try and nudge him to a safer perch. One that's not putting my starter in danger.

DREAMCRUSHER LYDIA sent out Skarmory!

"You're in charge, Doombringer!"

Skarmary L20 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓]

Mismar L19 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓]

Looks like they offer all kinds of amateur contests here, and they're free to attend. Which should you go see?

You emerge from the cavern to see the Fall Road, which appears to have earned its name: the trees seem to be stuck in a perpetual state of autumn: oranges and yellows abound. You spot no trainers on the road, however.

Up ahead, there is something of interest: a barricade. There are signs:

The tree as a whole is just too small to support him, and it groans under his weight as he grips the core of the tree.

I'll stick with the amateur Beauty contest, just to take in the local favor. Let's see what the local up and comers decided to bring in.

"I don't think this is gonna work out, Chopshop. Sorry, we'll try and find you someplace nice and dark next time. All right?"

Well, good thing I'm only a teenager. Why would it be cursed, though? I thought Autumn Glen was Fairy territory.
Keep heading on towards Autumn Glen.

He gives you a big, carapaced shrug and hops down, giving the ground a little shake.

You head into the Beauty hall and wait. There are some mosaics… it looks like you're the only one who turned out for the audience except a couple that look to be the parents of one of the competitors.

They're all Furfrous… big surprise, right? There's an initial vote period, but it's only from the judges: you guess that makes sense because the amateurs don't draw a big crowd. Next up is a dressup portion, and the trainers run to big fancy treasurechest prop boxes to start dressing up their companions. Finally, there's an appeal stage. It goes back and forth for a long time, but unsurprisingly, Furfrou comes out on top. I mean, it was four Furfrous to begin with…

Roll to overcome barricade.

I sure wish I were a pretty pony sometimes

Well, it's just a roadblock, right? If I can't go over, I can always go around. '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

Wave to the nice folks if I pass them, then go and see if any of the Furfrou trainers are available.

"Doom bringer? Mismar, water gun it!"

"Atta boy."
I give him a big ol' smack'n rubb on the shell.
"I bet the bug city has loads of places to hide in. You looking forward to when we get there?"

Roll #1 8 = 8

You walk up to the edge of the path to go around, but when you try to it just makes some weird bumping sound even though logically you should be able to walk on the differently color grass.

You don't question this though: it's video game logic.

They ditch the place entirely, for the most part, but the winner stays behind in the lobby to collect her ribbon.

"Deploy your Spikes!"

Spikes were spread across the field!

Skarmary L20 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Mismar L19 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓]

Chopshop twitches his giant claws at you.

"Yo'. Nice job in the competition. Mind if ask what got you into it?"

Welp, up and over, then. It can't be so hard. '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

"Entry hazards… Water gun!"

Roll #1 1 = 1

"It's time to finish this game! BRAVE BIRD!"

Doombringer hurt by recoil!

Skarmary L20 [▓▓▓▓░░░░░░]

Mismar L19 [▓░░░░░░░░░]

Up you go! No problem, you work your way over the barrier and you're safe on the other side.

"Beauty is a way of life in Phlox City, darling! The only losers are the ones who don't compete at all!"

Well, as safe as one can be with a full team of pokemon. Let's keep moving. Admire the scenery for a bit as I do so. Keep an eye out for wild pokemon. '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

"I get where your coming from. Maybe I'll put in Pincel next time I get a chance."

Look down at Furfrou. "How long have you been together?"

"Atta boy. C'mon."
Recall Chopshop, pick up Millia.
"And how about you, huh? You enjoying being back home too?"

"It's okay! Just get rid of those spikes! Rapid spin! "

Roll #1 10 = 10

There's a Jigglypuff practicing on a nearby stump. The town is up ahead.

"This is actually Miss Claudia VII, but she's a spiritual successor to the Furfrou I had when I was a child!"

It strikes you that this woman is quite elderly.

She gives you a banged shrug.

"Roost! Heal up!"

A critical hit!

The spikes were cleared!

Skarmary L20 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Mismar L19 [▓░░░░░░░░░]

A jigglypuff? Practicing? Wonder if it has dreams of contests. that Kingsley guy might like to know about this… Hmm.
Let's dial him up on the Pokegear/dex/phone.

"We can't recover enough… last stand! Water gun!"

Roll #1 2 = 2

"Dunno, huh? You sure seemed happy a minute ago. Lemme guess, it's 'cause I asked about it, huh?"

"How long have you been participating in these contests then? I'm sure you have lots of ribbons like these."

"It's almost a shame to waste health on finishing you off. BRAVE BIRD!"

Doombringer was hurt by recoil!

Mismar fainted!

Ring ring…

Ring ring…

"Oh, do you need to take that?"

Millie boops you on the nose.

"Sorry, but I do. Maybe we'll meet again."

"I'll have to reclaim the rest of yours as payment. Come, Trish! Electroweb!"

Roll #1 7 = 7

I blink.
"…really? Is that what you think?"

It was super effective!!

Skarmory fainted!

Trish reached level 23. Wants to learn Gastro Acid.
Mismar reached level 20.
Purple reached level 19.
Kala reached level 21. Kala wants to learn Ominous Wind.
Gastly reached level 21.

"Bah! I had you! I just overextended."

Got 1100P for winning.

Millie cocks her head at you.

Check whose on the Pokedex caller ID and pick up.

It's Chris.

"Sup dude, whats happening?"

I cock my head right back.

Millie cocks her head even further.

"Your connection is fine, Holmes. What's up?"

I keep up with her.

"Hey, I'm on my way to Autumn Glen, and I saw something a little odd. There's a Jigglypuff out here practicing singing. Kinda reminded me of your contest thing, so I thought I'd let you know. I might be able to catch it to trade with you, or I could leave it here for you to pick up on your own."

Soon you both have your heads on your respective shoulders.

Laugh at her.

"'Dreamcrusher, huh? I hope the only dream that shall truly die here is yours."

Point and laugh. How many youngsters were watching?

Oh, and, Kala forgets ominous wind. Trish doesn't.

"That sounds rad. Thanks for the tip, and you can go ahead and leave the little Poke singing, I'd like to check it out myself and not inconvenience you. I'll head out there when I get the chance."

"Alright, I'll leave it be. Where are you at?"

"You know, we probably look pretty silly right now."

"Here in Phlox. I wanted to check out the Contests like an adult, you know? Still, I could use a few more Pokes and that sounds like a good enough reason to keep moving. Hows about you? How've you been?"

Everyone seems to have split to avoid her.

Give up on learning Ominous Wind? Give up on learning Gastro Acid?

"Hmph. Next time I'll bring more Pokemon, and I'll have to come up with a creative punishment for you. Go, HMSlave! HMSlave, Teleport!"

In a flash, she's gone.

Millie shrugs at you, but gives a playful smile.

I mean, Kala forgets astonish for ominous wind

I can't help but smile back. This has got to be the first time I've seen her do it.
"Hey, you hungry?"

"Phlox? The Cyan ferry to Fandango might be the fastest way here, but costs 500P. As for where I am, I'm on the road to Autumn glen, as I said. Got the Shrine badge from Cyan, though!"

Shrug. What a nasty girl.

… Wow, I was pretty nasty too. But damn, it felt… No, no.

Check egg.

Something's moving inside. You wonder what it is.

It is, in fact. She gives you a little nod.

"Nice, guy! Thanks for the tip, I was starting to wonder what would be the fastest way to get there. I should let you go on then, you have more places to visit, and I have my own things to do. Laterz!"

With that, I want to check when the next Contest here is.

Okay, guess I'm back on the road. Wave to the Jigglypuff, and keep heading towards Autumn Glen.

I take out the poffins and look at everyone else.
"Who else wants some?"

File: 1387436128525.png (92.08 KB, 759x781, the path.png)

That's it for the day. You should come back tomorrow or visit another contest hall.

Doo Doo Doo

You head down into the town. You arrive shortly, and feel something is off, though the locals seem happy enough. Roll perception.

Heinz, Millie, and Chopshop gather round to Poffin up. Needlenose is still where you've got her, though, swirming a bit.

Nightlight and Dreamcast watch tentatively from the distance.

I'll look for another Contest Hall. Meanwhile, I'll start loading a schedule of the Ferry from Cyan City.

"Four of you, huh? All right."
I distribute the vittles.
"How about you two over there? You not hungry?"

And make my way to the pokecenter. If I'm going to be hunting fairies, A dark type like Helia is going to be at a severe disadvantage. Let's bring out Eggward again.

Roll #1 8 = 8

Keep it with me while walking the road back to phlox.

Dreamcast makes odd noses at you.

Nightlight seems hungry but is too shy to approach. You suspect she has a Dandere nature. Just like in your Japanese animes.

It strikes you that you are the oldest person here: everyone out in this town is a kid. There are also a lot of people in general: there are only a few houses, a daycare, and a pokemon center. Not even a shop.

The Pokemon Center is abandoned: only one light is on, and the PC here is ancient! There's a healing… board or whatever it's called in the back, though. You can probably figure it out.

You arrive unmolested.

The cruises have times, but there are ferries all the time.

There's only one Contest hall in this city. You do note that it would probably be faster to go by land than by sea. (3 routes vs 4)

Well, everyone's still fine, but I might as well give it a look-over just in case. An Audino would be swell about now…
Can I make sense of it? '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

It seems like a pretty simple button-press interface.

Yeah, I'll check in with one of the Route 9 Rangers. If I don't catch a Pokemon, I don't need to pay right? If so, I'll start heading down there. Covalent City should have another contest hall too.

Heal up. Check funds. Let out everyone to relax, but focus on Mismar.

Well, thank Arceus for that.
Now, let's head out into the town. Paired with that warning about a curse on the road, a town full of children is kinda suspicious. I'll ask one of the wandering children if there are only children here.

As long as you stay within the fences. And you do. Roll to continue.

Do do dododo!

Mismar attaches xirself to a nearby window.

Roll perception.

He laughs at you. "Of course! No adults allowed in Autumn Glen. Why do you think all the fairies like it so much here?"

I've got an aspiring singer waiting for me, gota go as fast as these skates go.

Roll #1 7 = 7

Silly weirdos. "C'mon you two."

Just a little bit more.

Hope Pallet hangs on.

Roll #1 9 = 9

Nightlight shrinks back a bit.

Dreamcast blasts random noises at you again.

"The atmosphere? I'm curious, though. How did it all happen? What's this 'curse' that's supposed to be out this way?"

Roll #1 5 = 5

You arrive in Covalent City. It's your first time here, and it's an interesting city. It seems… well, it's nothing like Phlox or Talentton. It seems more like Server Valley, but more commercial. You see a lot of cranes and warehouses, but it's not an industrial city: clean, wide streets and plenty of people about. Battle Tower looms above and there are pleasant-looking apartments. You note the local academy: Tianxia State Academy for Pokemon Trainers. It's the most prestigious in the region.

He shrugs at you. "I dunno, and I don't care! But the curse is really a blessing. Nothing grows in Autumn Glen. No parents – ever!"

Hm. You haven't quite puzzled out what's with Mismar yet. Maybe some day.

"But if nothing grows, how do you have food? Plants grow, don't they?"

He gives you a blank look. "You grow your own food? You some kind of farmer or something? How big is your farm?"

Give everyone with me a poffin. But pay more attention to how Mismar takes it

Roll #1 6 = 6

I'll shake my head.
"No, I'm from Phlox City. But food has to come from somewhere."

Well then I'll just go to them and offer a poffin.
"We're all friends here."

I've got a goal to go for. Knowing the place is here though, I'm going to pick up a schedule for any lectures open to the public. These guys must really know their stuff. I'll ask around for the local Contest Hall too as I make my way to the other side of town.

Mismar always seems aloof or distracted… or something. You can't really divine it.

Your party appreciates the food, thoough.

Nightlight shyly accepts, but Dreamcast won't take it.

He shrugs. "I don't care about that adult stuff. Bye!"

He runs off.

Signs point you toward the contest hall down on the east side of the town, at its lowest point near the gate. You spot an unmistakeable ribbon sign.

"Huh. So do you actually eat at all, or are you just not hungry?"

Dreamcast makes more strange noises at you that you can't interpret.

I'll make sure to tag it on my map next time I come by, but for now, I need to shred some more rubber down East Road.

I'll frown a little at that.
"Guys, I think we wandered into a weird place…"

"For our victories, in which all of you played a role."

Distracted, huh? What if that's just Mismar? Lost in thought.

One more attempt to read xis nature.

Roll #1 4 = 4 / Roll #2 1 = 1

You delude yourself into believing that Mismar has a Jolly nature.

Fish flops about, having little opinion here on land.

Traverse roll.

Nothing but the road ahead and a Shuckle on my head. '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

I smile and shake my head.
"You are a wonder, aren't you?"
Is everyone else finished?

Not entirely true: there's that ghost attacking you.

W-wait, g-g-g-g-ghost? Like, yoinks, Scoob! Gastly is attacking from the right!

Yep, everyone is well-fed.

That doesn't seem right.

Feels like some time has passed. Check on the egg.

Atta boy, everyone. Now, let's get back on inside and head south. Time for some training.

It's moving around a lot – you think it's ready to hatch!

And it does seem right because you critically failed a perception test.

Onwards to Route 5, then. Who do you have in front? Roll to traverse or search.

"Pa-a-a-llet, just stay cool and try struggle bug…" '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Moving Mils up front.

Search roll.

Roll #1 4 = 4

Right. Well. Let's keep wandering town. Ask a bit about the local pokemon population. What sort of fairy-types live around here.

Touch the egg, right?

You locate a Trubbish skulking about! You're in charge, Millie!

It was INCREDIBLY ineffective!

Foe Ghastly used Nightshade!

Gastly L20 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░]

Pallet L18 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Huh? It seems cold and it's not moving anymore…

Oh! Baby Gastly must have floated out through the walls of the egg!

There are kids about, but no adults.

Near the center, a girl around twelve is reading. There are little 'uns playing outside the daycare, and there's a young bug catcher not far from here testing his net in the water.

Let's go talk to the one that's reading. She's older than the rest, so she should have some idea of what's going on here.
"Pardon me?"

Eeew. Scan it.

Also, Confuzzle.

Roll #1 10 = 10

Oooh… new life. It's adorable.

Check moves. Does it have an ability?

"It was such a beautiful day too… Wait, I gotta stay fly though. Alright, Camo, come out and use Water Gun!"

Roll #1 8 = 8

And check sex.

File: 1387951667716.png (181.2 KB, 600x600, 600px-568Trubbish.png)

She's reading Regigigas Shrugged.

Trash Bag Pokemon
Type: Poison
The combination of garbage bags and industrial waste caused the chemical reaction that created this Pokémon.

Confusion was super effective! It was a critical hit! Trubbish fainted! Millie reached level 17 and wants to learn Lucky Chant.

It has Levitate and is female.

Night shade!

>Water Gun

Gastly's attack missed!

Gastly L20 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Camo L18 [▓▓▓▓░░░░░░]

I rub her head. Atta girl.
Replace Growl.

"I was wondering if you would happen to have more of an idea about what's going on around here, and what sort of pokemon might be found around town?"

Yes, very interesting… check moves.

"I could've sworn the sun was beating down on me, was it my radio? Camo, try Rock Tomb!"

Roll #1 3 = 3

Noted. She seems to like the rubbing.

"Are you a new immigrant? It's mostly fairies here. They're attracted to all the children."

Night shade! Camo fainted!

Gastly L20 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Camo L16 [░░░░░░░░░░]

"Hmm… Spite, but no Acid. I was hoping for a poison move, since you had a Grimer sire and a mutant mother with acid, ah, well. Welcome."

See how the rest of the team is reacting to our new addition.

"Just passing through, actually. I don't suppose you'd know anything about a shrine that might be in town somewhere?"

"Darn it, if I had paid more attention to the road than the trees flying past me…"

"Canvas, Transform and hold it off for just a little bit."

Does she? That's kinda cute. I'll pick her up and switch directions, heading north this time.

Canvas's Imposter!

They're staring each other down…

She points to the nearby daycare. "In there. The Shrine Keeper has been here longer than anyone else. Many seek his wisdom."

Purple seems interested in it, but none of the others seem to care.

You reach Phlox City with no further molestation.

Great. Now, north again! To the forest!
Put Needlenose up front this time.

What moves does Canvas have now?

I'll nod.
"And if it's anything like the other shrines I've been to, I'm going to need a fairy type to find a proper entrance. I don't suppose you know what shows up around town? I saw a jigglypuff on the way in, but there was a guy who was gathering a team for pokemon contests that would have a lot more use for a singer than I would."

Night Shade
Mean Look

"Down by the stream there are usually Marill… or in the trees and lower patches, Cottonee and Flabebe. There's also a cave up north of town that has some of those Carbink.

Other Fairies wander town, if you keep an eye open, especially around the shrine."

I'mma lookin' for love in all the wrong places.

Roll #1 8 = 8

Time to rearrange the team at the PC.

Mismar, Trish, Kala, new Gastly, Purple, Owlene.

And have the new Gastly come here.

"Your name. It's an important thing for someone who's going to be made great. Do you have any ideas?"

I'll nod again. Carbink would be a decent addition, especially since I don't have any rock types…
"You… wouldn't happen to have seen any Togepi or Togetic around the shrine, would you have?"

"Canvas, give him a taste of his own medicine. Night Shade!"

Roll #1 1 = 1

Indeed, since you've run aground of a Growlithe.

You're in charge, Needlenose.

"I haven't been keeping an eye out, but it's certainly possible. Baby Pokemon in particular mass near the shrine…"

Both Night Shades missed!

Gastly playfully floats about side to side.

Roll #1 3 = 3

"Give it another shot Canvas! Night Shade!" '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

"Hah. Of course you don't. Let's see now… Julia? Julia. How does that sound for you?"

I'll nod one last time.
"Thank you."
Alright, so the day care is the shrine… makes a bit of sense, I guess. Let's head over there and see what's moving around. '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

You must be the luckiest in the world. A third miss.

Yours is Super Effective, though. Gastly fainted.

Canvas reached level 13.
Pallet reached level 20.
Camo reached level 17.

"Too much, too much…"

"But, heh, I guess I should take this as a sign. I need to keep running after that dream of mine."

Head towards Fogmire.

Foe Growlithe used Bite!

Scald was Super Effective!

Growlithe L19 [▓▓░░░░░░░░]

Needlenose L17 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Julia licks you again.

Jigglypuff are congregating about here in the sandbox.

Onwards to Fogmire. Roll to traverse.

I'll leave them to play there. What I'm looking for is a togepi. '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

"Try to slow it down with mud slap." '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Water Gun!

Roll #1 4 = 4

"Interesting. Let's head out. Time for you to see what you must have heard while in the egg."

Maybe some time in Fogmire could give her more familiarity with being a ghost. Let's get to there.

Go down Route 5.

You pass revelers on your way to the gate. They're celebrating something, but you don't know of any holiday today.

Route 5: The Trash Route. Roll to search or traverse.

Growlithe used Bite!

Growlithe fainted. Needlenose reached level 18. Wants to learn Bubblebeam.

Oh no! You kicked a poor Swirlix in the dark by accident and it is attacking!

Togepi slowed down!

"Fairy Wind!"

Togepi L5 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Diglett L5 [▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░]

"Ah, geez, I'm sorry! Pillbug, come on out and help me calm this thing down!"

Let's traverse.

Julia in front.

Roll #1 6 = 6

They're staring each other down…

You arrive at Server Valley. There are more revelers in the street here, but just a small group near the gate.

Atta girl. Replace Water Gun.
Now let's…hm. How about back down south again, through route 12?

Roll #1 5 = 5

"Alright, use Poison Sting!" '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

You arrive at Phlox City. There are revelers near the gate here.

Route 12 it is. As crowded with youngsters and pestmons as ever.

Foe Swirlix used round!!

Swirlix L15 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░]

Pillbug L12 [▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░]

Wait, revelers? Holiday celebrations in effect?

What's the ocassion?

Go up and look at some of them.

If I remember right, that gets stronger the more it's used in succession, kinda like Fury Cutter.
"Keep using Poison Sting! Fairie's are weak to poison!" '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

There are no Tianxia holidays going on currently.

Upon closer inspection, the revelers appear to be Unovans and Kalosian. They don't seem shy about spreading their message:

"Today is the birthday of the Creator, Mirrormas! It is a day to celebrate!"

Based on their foreigner status and verbiage, they're probably Mirrorist Missionaries – westerners that believe the universe was created not by Pokemon, but instead by a being that made humans in his own image. Hence, mirror.

Poison Sting was SE.

Foe Swirlix used Round!

Swirlix L15 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

Pillbug L12 [▓▓░░░░░░░░]

This isn't looking good…
"Come on back! Go, Helia!"

Then what's happening? I'll go check out the party and see what's going on.

Helia L19 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░]

"Alright, now use Smog!" '1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

"How do you all celebrate?"

Might be nice to give Julia some revelry.

"Really? How do you know?"

A critical hit! Swirlix was poisoned!

"It says so in our holy texts. Besides, the day itself isn't very important, what's the difference if we celebrate on the right day or the wrong day? Today is a day for great joy and cheer. Thankfulness for generosity given freely."

"Alright, knock it out with another Smog!" '1d10'

"Well, I can't say I can argue with that sort of holiday. How do you all celebrate?"

"Why, thank you!"

Walk off and check the gift.

Swirlix fainted.

Pillbug reached level 13.

"Celebration involves the giving of gifts. Here, you can have one too."

Got MIRRORIST GIFT. Wonder what's inside!

Inside there is some money and rare candies, but the centerpiece is a strange Pokeball with a silvery, reflective upper half. It is like a mirror.

Oooh, what kind of Pokemon?

A Bronzor?

Send the pokemon out.

"Great job, Helia."
I'll return her to her ball. And since I kinda just walked onto that swirlix by accident, can I take it to the pokecenter to get it healed while I heal up Pillbug and Helia?

"No kidding? Well thanks then. I'll remember this day from now on!"

Let's go back to the park and open it.

Your team is full. Mysterious reflective Pokeball was sent to the PC.

'Fainted' Pokemon flee or something. Pokecenter is still abandoned. Looks like the local kids are harassing an adult man near the entrance to town, though. You pass them and heal up your mons.

Do do dododo

Inside, you find some money, rare candies, and a really odd looking wafer. It has a symbol on it.

Pic related.

Is that…a brain?
I sniff it experimentally.

"Great job, now come from the side with bulldoze!" '1d10'

An adult? This far out? Weird. I thought everyone in town was kids? I'll go say hello.
"Hi there. I thought the road was closed?"

Go to Pokemon Center PC, swap it out for Purple Haze. Check it.

Smells like brain food. Just kidding: it smells like a cookie. You get the feeling this is not for Pokemon consumption based on the fact that it has a plastic wrapper that reads:

"You were pretty tough." smile proudly "So, can I have a hint as to who the leader is?"

A-A Beldum!

With a sex?

What's attract guard?

"Hint? You can go see him right away when you're ready. But he doesn't like being woken up this late, so don't be surprised if he's grumpy! He's in the back room with some shrine aides. Don't forget to heal first!"

You have no idea.

"Hey! He's siding with the adult!"
"Kick him out of town, too!"
"He's too old to be here! He was corrupted!"

Huh. A brain cookie. Strange. Well, merry Mirrormas!
I unwrap and sample the cookie while I take stock of what exactly is left in the box.

Use Pokedex on it.

"Whaddya mean, corrupted? He's just older than you are! And that doesn't mean you can throw rocks at people! That's just rude!"

The cookie tastes pretty good. It's sugary.

2 rare candies.

No entry. How does the PC have an entry for Attract Guard if there's no entry in the Dex? Maybe you can test it in battle.

"Get out town old fogey!"
"Before we start pummeling YOU with rocks!"

They make faces at you. That guy is long gone.

"Alright. I'll be back then. Enjoy your book." go to the pokemon center and I'm guessing there is still no nurse, but it was easy to use the machine last time.

Can I find those group of celebrants again? Still there?

I'll frown at them.
"You know what? Let's settle this like smart people. With a Pokemon battle. You win, I'll leave town with no argument, after healing up my team. I win, I get to stay or go as I please. That sound fine to you?"

Who doesn't like a cookie. I finish it off and pocket the rest of the stuff. This will definitely come in handy later.

Do do dododo!

On the way you see a boy about your age, probably from the city, in town. Some of the kids are yelling at him. He threatens them with a Pokeball in hand, and they take off shortly after.

"What, just because you're a Pokemon trainer you think you can bully us into letting you push your ideology on OUR town?"

"Let's put together a mob! He's a city man!"

"Of course those damn Ringers would be behind this, trying to destroy our town!"

The kids take off, presumably to raise a militia/lynch mob.

Looks like they already moved on.

Takes like sugar. You crumple over in pain from the worst headache you've had in your life. It's blinding. You can't see, you can't think. All you can feel is the pounding of blood in your skull.

What? Go find the kids '1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

What the hell is wrong with these Outer Ringers? Are they all crazy? Whatever. Go after that guy. He's probably not feeling too good after those rocks.

"The hell?"

Go up to the guy.

"Is something the matter?"

You manage to quickly catch up to one of the kids who took off.

"Hey, you better look alive! We're raising a mob to deal with a crazy city ADULT who has come to ruin our town. He started going crazy and threatening us with his Pokemon! I've gotta get the Shrine Keeper to help protect us."

You catch up with him. He's taking a breather, sitting on this side of the barricade.

He raises his hands in mock-surrender. "No rocks, please."

"Don't have any, and I was just about chased out as well. What was that even about, anyway?"

"Eh, I don't know. I am not from Tianxia, I'm a missionary from Kalos."

Oh I responded to the wrong thing.

Check my funds.

"Yes! I saw him threaten you! Can you tell me what exactly happened?"

"Missionary? Like one of those guys from the Church of Arceus?"

"First a really old adult was trying to sneak into the city at night. We repelled him, he wasn't so bad. Then that adult we thought might just be a big kid tried to defend him. We told him he should leave if he didn't like our town, and he threatened to beat us up with his Pokemon to force us to let him stay! It's just like those Ringers to try to force their ideologies on us… why can't we have just ONE city for kids? And besides, if adults moved in, the fairies would leave…"

"No, western worship. I am a Mirrorist. Our faith holds that the universe was created by a being who made Humans in his own image, to serve as rulers and caretakers for all Pokemon. It is our duty to be stewards of this world. I am here on a mission trip to spread our faith to these still pagan lands, no disrepect intended. Today is a great celebration day."

"Oh. You got a pretty rough welcome on a celebration day…"
I'll look at him a little curiously.
"What are you guys celebrating about?"

"Hey, that's enough for…"

Maybe not at the moment. Let's move on to Route 1.

Look concerned. "Alright. I see what happened."
With a determined nod "I've got strong pokemon, so I'm gonna go after that guy. Just go to the temple and stay with the shrine guardians. I'll come find you after I finish with him."

"Good idea. Thanks a lot!"

"Today is the birthday of our Creator, according to scripture: The first day of the year."

Route 1 it is. And what a route! Its shimmering lakes are complimented by mighty, reaching hoodoos and steam vents. Pokemon wander about here.

Let's just traverse. If one does show up, time to start training Julia.

Roll #1 10 = 10

"That sounds pretty important. How do you celebrate it? Do you just walk into towns and hope they don't throw rocks at you?"

Go toward the road and see if I can track down that bully '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

You blow through Route 1 without any encounters. You arrive at the gates of Talentton.

"We celebrate through gift-giving. Here, you can have one, too."

Got MIRRORIST GIFT! Wonder what's inside?

It looks like that old adult is paying him off with a box at the barricade.

Go up to them. "Hey stop!"

"Really? Thanks a lot!"
I'll look a little guilty at the package.
"But I, uh… don't really have anything to give you back."
I'll think a little.
"Wait, I got it! I know it isn't much, but have this pokeball-"

"It's the thought that counts."

Off to Route 6!

Roll #1 1 = 1

"I saw you picking on those kids! What's wrong with you?" I say looking very upset at you.

"Picking on!? Those kids were throwing rocks at this guy and chasing him out of town! What did you want me to do, just look the other way while someone is getting hurt?"

You try to head out the gates to Route 6, but there are renovations going on and the road is closed.

"You demanded to be able to stay in the town if you beat them in a battle. And who is this?"
Who is this mysterious guy?
"I heard you were trying to sneak in."

What the hell?

Fine. Go back through Route 5 to Phlox, then through the Safari

Roll #1 6 = 6

"That's when they were about to start chucking rocks at me! I tried to settle it like a civilized person, but they ran away screaming something about getting the shrine leader to save them."
I'll shake my head.
"Would have worked for me, since the only reason I came here was to talk to and maybe battle the shrine leader, but I left to see if this missionary got hit in the head or anything. Rocks hurt, you know."

He looks foreign.

"I'm a Mirrorist Missionary. I came here to spread the joy of the celebration of Mirrormas and teach the faith to those that will listen."

You traverse the first part of Route 1 without any trouble, observing the Corsola play in the cattails.

Keep rollan

Let's hurry this up….

Roll #1 4 = 4

You're halted by a rogue Relicanth!

You're in charge, Mismar!

Look you over skeptically. "And what would you do if I was the shrine leader?"
"Mirror-o-what now? Why were sneaking in in the middle of the night? Were you lost?"

"Well, talk, first. Then challenge you to a battle, if you were accepting challenges at this hour."
I'll cock my head slightly.
"Are you the shrinekeeper?"

"Mirrorists believe that the world was created by a great being who created humans in his image, to rule and care for all of the Pokemon he filled the world with."

On land? Interesting.

Julia's in front, though, and I switch to Trish.

"Oh Is that kind of like Arceus?? Or is it closer to Mew?"
"No." Shake my head. "But I want to show you something anyway."

The Rock/Water type seems to move as easily through the gravel-y path as the water.

You COULD just run if you want to save time.

Relicanth used Rock Tomb. It was super effective!

Relicanth L20 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓]

Trish L23 [▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░]

"I am not very familiar with the eastern Pantheon, I'm sorry. Unlike your eastern beliefs that assign one domain to different gods, like time or space or victory or creation, we believe that the Creator is singular and omnipotent."

Let's train a little while it's convenient.

"Julia, pay attention! Trish, Electroweb!"

I'll just look confused at her.
Then just bag that gift from the Mirrorist for now so that I don't lose it or break it.

Frown a bit confused. "But how do you know when 'Creator' is happy with you if it represents everything?"
Pull you aside and gesture toward the autumn tree. "Look there. What do you see?"

"Ah, damn. Good work, Trish. Let's see… Mismar! You next! Water Gun!"

Roll #1 4 = 4

"A tree in autumn colors. I know. That's why this place is called Autumn Glen. It's always Autumn here."

"Mirrorism is like all faiths, a matter of, well, faith."

Rock Tomb!

Mismar L20 [▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░]

Repeat! Water Gun!

Roll #1 3 = 3

"Alright, well. This town is special, kids never grow up here. That's why it has special rules."
"Uh.. okay.. so why were you trying to sneak in? Did Creator tell you to?"

"That would explain why they don't know where their food comes from, or how to run anything. The Pokecenter's a mess."
I'll frown a little.
"And what do you mean, special rules?"

"Hopefully everything stays cool and quiet now. Nothing but us and the road."

Roll #1 9 = 9

You arrive in Phlox without further incident.

Gotta get away safely!

You arrive at the swampy gates to the small town of Fogmire soon after that.

Daisy shyly clings to your leg and peaks out at the missionary from behind it.

"Oh, Hm.." pause thoughtfully. "That proves it then. Faires really are scared of adults. And that's why you can't come in Mr. Missionary."

"What a shame. Well, there's a whole continent to witness to, I suppose I can skip one town."

I'll look curiously at the pokemon.
"Are you sure they aren't just shy? I mean, sure adults can look big and scary sometimes, but not all adults are bad!"

I'm going to get my bearings, and maybe an exorcist, but definitely stopping off at the Pokemon Center to get my Pokemon fixed up.

I'll ask the Nurse about any secure routes to Autumn Glen.

Heal up, and go towards Safari Route.

Roll #1 7 = 7

"Sorry! And happy Mirr-o-what's it day! "
Try giving Daisy a bit of doughnut to calm her down.
"She was very brave when there weren't any adults around."

I'll perk up.
"Oh, yeah, that guy was talking about his Mirrormas day thing. Apparently they celebrate by giving gifts to people."

You notice an interestingly-dressed foreigner as you hike over to the Pokecenter. He seems to be giving some kind of speech.

Do do dododo

Nurse is right there: free to talk.

You arrive at the gates to Route 9. A warden greets you warmly. "Welcome to Route 9. Do you have a permit, or are you here to travel?"

"Merry Mirrormas to you, too. Would you like a gift?"

She likes the sugar.

I'll listen in to the foreigner then. Gotta catch my breath after rushing down at full speed.

"Actually… how much would a permit be? For a.. Chimchar?"

"Merry Mirrormas, Tianxians! Today is the birthday of the Creator, and he wants you to know the joy of giving!"

"A permit is 4000P."

"A gift?" Smile happily then let it fade when I realize the word 'exchange' "But.. I don't have any gifts to trade."

One of these chats. Never too old to listen to some cheer, especially after my little encounter.

"He said it was the thought that counts…"
I'll look at the pokeball that I was interrupted in giving.
"But I'd still like to offer this, even though it's not much."
I'll look over at the missionary.

Think about it. I do need some fire and fighting power…

"Alright. Sounds good. How are we doing this?"

"It's not about receiving. It's okay if you don't have a gift. Here."

Got MIRRORIST GIFT. What's inside?

He preaches about the meaning of Mirrormas. Apparently it's a celebration for Mirrorists, a religious group that believes the world was created by a being that made humans in his own image, like a mirror, to rule and take care of each of the Pokemon of the world. Mirrormas is about showing the generosity of giving to mirror the generosity of the Creator. Unlike the Pokemon Pantheon, there is not a single being for each domain of Victory, Time, Space, Sea, Land, Life, Death, etc. Just one omnipotent Creator.

"Sure, thank you very much."

He accepts it.

"I'll print out a permit and then file it away, then we can go out into the field and I'll show you where the Chimchar have been spotted lately."

Ooh open it!

Well, that makes me feel a little better.
"You're welcome. Merry Mirrormas."
Now, let's see what's actually in that package…

"Thank you very much. How many visitors do you get here, by the way?"

go with him.

That's actually pretty nice of them. But what about the Creator? Did he just do all this because he was bored or something?

There's some money, some rare candies, and a strange Pokeball with a reflective top, like a mirror.

There's some money, some rare candies, and a fighting headband with a white feather in the top.

He prints out the paperwork and files it.

"There's a lot of demand out here… the cost helps us run the reserve and make sure the Pokemon have a good life. Some still buy from the breeding mills in Amber City, but this reserve is cruelty-free."

He leads you out of the fenced area deep off the path into a rockier area, near a set of caves.

"We try to create an environment where Pokemon will feel at home. That encourages more Pokemon born and makes sure they'll live happy lives – even if they aren't caught. I wish we didn't have to have a reserve, really, but what can be done for a Pokemon in such high demand? And with the rate that Tianxia's population increases, it's not a surprise. Maybe if people stop believing that everyone needs to go on a Pokemon journey it will lower demand, but I doubt that'll happen."

Deep in a cave system you see little sparks and fires all about. Fire types are lurking here. He points up ahead to an alcove full of pilfered blankets and bananas. Some Chimchar are here, dozing and playing. He points at them and gives you a nod.

He doesn't get too deep into the theology discussion. It seems to be mostly a seasonal 'sermon', focused on the sharing and gift giving.

Neat! Let's let Lucas out as I put the money and rare candies away.
"Lucas, this looks like it would fit you perfectly!"

Check out the pokeball just to be sure its empty and pocket the rest.
"Thanks a lot Mr. Missionary."

I'll ask about what's a traditional Mirrormas gift, since I have at least two people I can give some to.

"Breeding mills, huh? And this place.. interesting."

Send out Owlene.

"So, battle and catch as usual?"

He seems pleased with it and nods approvingly.

Hm? He bows his head a little. Looks like he's willing to let you put it on…

Looks like he's already taken off! You're sure he appreciated it.

Still, the Pokeball is DEFINITELY full.

Then ask away!

"Sure thing… about what level are you looking for? I'm pretty good at picking them out."

Well, that's a step up, at least! Let's tie it on there…
"Just like I thought! Perfect fit."

"Hey Mister, is there any traditional gifts you give for Mirrormas? Preferably something for someone older and someone younger than you?"

Hmm… around 20, give or take 5? That sounds good."

He nods approvingly at the headband.

"Anything – it's the thought that counts. If you can, try to think about what the person would want, prove you know them well. It's okay to share with strangers, too, though. Would you like a gift?"

"That Monferno over there? Level 18ish."

Well, then Press the button "Come on out."

Just smile and say: "Of course. Who wouldn't?"

"Alright, then."

Stalk up to the Monferno, then…

"That should be impossible. Marill's a water/fairy type. I've never heard of one knowing grass attacks…"
I'll look a little confused at Lucas, and then at the green marill.

"I really wanted a Marill too! I was going to look for one before I left here." grin and then in reply to your second statement "What about a TM? Those let pokemon learn things the couldn't normally!"

"Hey miss, sorry to bother you, but I was hoping to get directions from someone local. What's the most sun-lit route to Autumn Glen? I don't exactly have access to a car, as you can see, and I'd like to avoid having to camp out in the woods."

I split up that honey loaf between the team and myself a little while ago. Also, how many rare candies were in the package, two?

"That's right. I'm taking the journey to see all the shrines. Its a tradition where I'm from to send young trainers out to do that." Look down at your Riolu a moment. "You don't seem like you're from a town with a shrine like me.. Why are you interested in battling them?"

Frown at the Dex. "Maybe someone knows more in the cities. Or I can just find out by testing it."

Argh! It broke free!

Fully paralyzed!

"Well, none at this time of night. But if you go by lamp-light, head south to Sapshire, then through the cave to the Autumn Road, out west. Be careful on the roads this late… Strange Pokemon are about."

Noted, and yes.

Try again! throw Poke Ball!

Roll #1 7 = 7

"Well, there is actually a shrine in Phlox. They're the bonding shrine, and much like the gym, they showcase the bonds between a trainer and their pokemon."
I'll grimace for a moment.
"When I challenged that gym, I learned just how little I actually knew about Pokemon, and myself. So, I thought that if I could learn something that important at one shrine, I might learn more important lessons at the other shrines!"
I'll point at the side of my bag.
"See, I started out with Phlox and got the Heart Badge, and then in Cyan City I got the Cavern Badge. At Cyan City, the shrine keeper is very literal about weathering the storm of his pokemon. You'll want to watch out for that place since it's got a constant rain effect."
I'll smile slightly as I look at the badge.
"But I learned that even at the worst of times, my Pokemon will always be there, so long as I have faith in them. So that was a lesson worth learning."

"Maybe its a little too late at night, and I wouldn't know where to get a good gas lamp anyway. This town still seems up at this hour, though, would you know anyone who needs some hired help at this time?"

Smile. "Anything is possible as long as you have your pokemon."

I'll nod.

"Well, if you want to come to the town, I'll go with you to help explain things, right now they think you're just a bully who wants to let adults move in.."

I do have one more, don't I?

Roll #1 10 = 10

I'll roll my eyes.
"Bully. Of course we'd be bullies to kids smaller than us… And anyway, the road's blocked off, so most people just avoid Autumn Glen anyway. Still, I promise I'm not going to try and make adults move in."
I'll scratch my cheek a little.
"Though, if my guess is right I won't be able to get into the shrine without a fairy type to find the door. That's how it worked at Phlox, Crimsonborough, and Cyan City."

Mach Punch

Shake shake

Give a nickname to the caught Monferno?

Look confused. "Oh, no one told me about that rule. I guess I did follow that without knowing, but that's just because I wanted to learn about each type."

"Well, we're both lucky that the different types seem to flock around their respective shrines. There are a lot of psychic and fire types on the road between Phlox and Crimsonborough, after all…"
I'll think a bit.
"You wouldn't happen to have seen a togepi while poking around town, would you have? I was really hoping to add one to my team, and then I sorta tripped over a swirlix…"

Eh, as expected.

…I can't think of one right now. These kinds of things are always hard. Let's send him to box and move on to the next city.

"That's not an accident! The shrines are put up to help the local pokemon and people work together!" I declare.
"I have seen a trainer with a togepi, but I can't say I've seen a wild one."

"Nuts. Maybe I've just been looking in the wrong places, or at the wrong times."
I'll shake my head.
"Anyway, we should be getting back to town. Mind if I put your number in my pokegear? If I see something in my travels you might find interesting, I could call you."

Warden escorts you the rest of the way to Covalent City and sees you off.

"Thanks a lot."

I wonder if that's the general opinion of Amber and breeding?

I never knew. Why?

Walk the path down to Fogmire from Covalent.

"Sure thing. I'll go back and explain what happened to the shrine leader as soon as I see him. He was sleeping last I heard." get out the dex and register you in it.

Roll to traverse.

Number registered.
"That'll probably be in the morning. And I've got to hunt around for a fairy type so I can actually get in the door, so I'll let you go ahead. By the time I'm done, you'll definitely have managed to talk everyone down from throwing rocks."
I'll look at Lucas for a second.
"Right, Lucas?"

He gives you a confident nod.

Oh no!

"I'll do what I can, just don't scare them okay?"
turn around and head back to autumn glenn.

"How scary can I be? I'm only like a foot or two taller than most of them!"

"You have two badges, that's pretty scary to someone with none, or not even a pokemon of their own.."

I'll pout a little.
"Well, I figured they'd have at least one, and then gang up on me."

Frown in return. "I'm sure you can fix this somehow."

"An apology usually works. I'll start thinking of one, if they start thinking of an apology for throwing rocks at that guy. Someone could seriously get hurt if they keep doing that."

"Maybe we can come up with a better way to make people stay away?" I think for a moment. "If you come with something call me."

"If I get a decent idea before both of us leave Autumn Glen, then I'll tell you in person."

"Sounds like a plan." I smile as I start to walk toward the town with Marill.

You are confronted by a deadly Gastly! You're spooked!

You arrive at Autumn Glen. Nobody's out: it's late.

head over to the daycare/shrine.

There are a lot of concerned looking kids of all ages huddled up in here, looking like a disaster hit. A lot of the fairies have come in from outside, too.

What is it this time?

At least Julia gets to learn something. Put her first.

Hey! A gastly! Well, I have one with me, so it's n-not so scary..
Switch from Julia to Kala.

"Of course, the roads probably going to be hazardous no matter what, and I've got an appointment to keep, Nurse. Where can I get a gas lamp?"

Most of them look relieved, including their Pokemon.

"That's good. The fairies were spooked!"

Or fairy. You spot a Togepi in the sandbox nearby.

Nod and say encouragingly "You were so brave to protect the fairies like that."

"Hope they burn for a long time. Where is it, and should I bring anything? I should give an offering in exchange."

Hot diggity. Let's go over and say hello.

"Autumn Glen is almost the only place in Tianxia that fairy-types can be found reliably. If we didn't protect them, there might be no fairies in Tianxia. I know there are a lot or regions that don't have fairies at all!"

Togepi is ignoring you, building a sand castle.

Kala is fast asleep…

I'll start making a small mound of sand as well.
"That's a pretty good castle you've got going there."

"Cool, thanks for the info."

Time to head over to a temple. Since we just got him, I'll have Leo stay out and carry him with me.

Nod again. "I'm kind of worried about the grass types.. there aren't any wild bulbasaur anymore.."

"We're a little short on time, Kala! Thief!"

"All those foreigners and Ringers are trying to erode our culture. Maybe the Shrine Keeper will know what to do. I think someone woke him up. He's in the back room."

This town makes you feel a little uneasy. There are hulking statues everywhere that seem to be watching you. The air is clearly alive with the supernatural: Gastly and Misdreavus flit about.

Making your way, slogging through the knee-deep swampwater and across small bridges to the eastern side of town, you finally come to an old, stone temple. It looks positively ancient, and it is very simple, no vaulted ceilings or arches. A tiered stone pyramid. There's a sign:

Tianxia Temple of Remembrance

Kala woke up! Gastly fainted.

Togepi continues work without acknowledging you.

Let's keep moving. Onwards to Fogmire!

Roll #1 1 = 1

Pretty focused.
I'll scan it. Is it a boy or a girl togepi?

"Alight. Also, there was a confused kid, about my age, even thou he's a city boy, he wanted to understand what was going on. He's a good kid, don't worry about him. Okay?"

Try to clean off some of the gunk.

"A place like this, litte dudemon, we're going to have to be on our best behavior."

Look around for someone who can guide us, or try to find a main door if we don't see anyone.

Downed trees block the route into town. A couple of Golurk and a man are working on clearing them.

"I don't know, I wasn't out there. I'm not really sure what's going on, we all just regrouped in here!"

Nobody's hanging about the outside of a temple this late at night.

The entrance is before you, though. No tricks: it's a public building, and too old for even doors. You wander in the vomitorium into the foyer, which has an inscription etched into the wall.

Here remembered are the ignominious masses not immortalized as heroes.

In the belief that every life has had meaning.

The path splits left and right around the inscribed pillar. There are basins of water all about.

"You didn't see some kids rush in here?"
Look around, the boy from before isn't in this group? '1d10'

Can't we just carefully navigate them?

Roll #1 9 = 9

"Let's head right around this tower through the right, Leo. And the basins aren't to clean brushes okay? We're here for a candle."

I'll let him finish up his sand castle.

They're blocking the gates into town. You might be able to navigate over with Fly, under with Dig, or move them with Strength.

Use of Cut or Rock Smash also might work.

He's over consoling a nervous little girl who's sobbing and tightly hugging her Jigglypuff on the other side of the room next to the crayon table.

"Yeah, of course I did. We all did, they just told us to come gather in the shrine, but they didn't fill us in. I guess they didn't want to upset us with the details while the Shrine Keeper is working out what to do… I understand."

You wander through the halls and it strikes you that the walls are full of inscriptions. In fact, the only places that aren't inscribed are the places that are filled with masks. Very odd. You wander a little deeper into the temple and find a curiously tall and thin man draped in a cloak doubled over another basin, working at something inside it.

He hears you approach and looks up.

"Here for the shrine?"

Dang, this thing is really shaping up.
"Did you want any help, little guy?"

"Yes sir. Specifically a candle to light the way for me. I'm fast, but its no good if a tree decides to be a jerk and gets in my way."

go speak to him. "Hey. everything okay over here?"

I-I don't know any of those moves, do I?

"excuse me, how long is this going to take?"

Togepi ignores you and adds a wood mill outside of the walls on the eastern side of the fortress and a series of watchtowers.

"Oh? Just a candle to light the way? Where are you headed, young man?"

"Yeah, some of the newer kids are just a little spooked, she'll be alright."

He pats her back. It's a really odd sight because it appears that a five year old is comforting a nine year old. "Right?"

She seems to have calmed down to just sniffles now. "…Right."

He looks up. "Sorry, did you need something? You run off that creep?"

He shrugs. "Depends. It's really odd. Not twenty minutes ago these trees were standing on the opposite sides of the path. Almost like we have some ephemeral force trying to stop our way, eh? Heh heh. I'm not even like a government employee, I'm headed south to Fandango City."

Well, two can play at this game. I'll start making a little sand force. Battering rams, siege towers, and little mounds for troops.

Roll #1 5 = 5

"Damn it all. Any idea how to move them?"

"Autumn Glen. A bro of mine called me with a scoop for a Pokemon with some good singing talents he met down there, and I'm aiming to meet it. A coordinator like me always has to be on the lookout for interesting Pokemon."

Pet Leo a bit.

"I sorted it out, the old man was a traveler, and that boy that challenged you was just confused. He's a city boy sure, but he discovered the shrines are a better way and wants to visit them to really understand pokemon. He's a good kid." Smile at the sight, i have to remember they aren't as young as they look.

"I'm just having my Golurk pound on 'em. I dunno."

You blink in surprise when you make much more realistic soldiers than you thought you had the capability to. The sand sticks together perfectly, like clay, instead of crumbling. With little effort details like faces seem to come into being with the press of a thumb instead of fine detailing.

Togepi adds cannons and flags to the keep.

"I see… well, do be careful with all the ghosts about… why don't you get a candle out of that box?"

He points a long, bony finger at a box across the room, brimming with prayer candles.

"Hm, well… maybe we can give him a second chance, as long as he doesn't try ruining everything again. Oh right… the Shrinekeeper will want to know that you got rid of that traveler."

aha, he's gearing up for battle. Well, let's get some cannons of our own set up!

Roll #1 9 = 9

"Alright. I'll go talk to him then." Head back to the shrine keeper.

Bah. I should have brought Monferno.

"Think you'll be done in a bit?"

"Thanks for that. It's hard to see at these times. But, umm, is there a donation box nearby? I don't want to just go ahead and take a candle like that."

"Uh, maybe. Stay, I was thinking… I think I saw a chainsaw up on that old abandoned mansion estate not far from here, by the servants' quarters. That would definitely help if you could grab it. Make sure it has gas in it, though."

They come out just as real as the others. Your head starts to hurt when you think about why your sand artillery are able to roll on their wheels, so you don't think too much about it.

There are a bunch of kids crowded around the back firing off questions for someone in the back, asking him what to do, but you can't see from here, probably due to his short stature.

"No, no, please, be my guest. This is a dark night, I'd hate to see someone trip on the road. Get yourself a candle."

"Why-why not you go there and get it yourself? I'll watch over your Golurk for you. See, I'm not very familiar with that place, and if you saw where it is…"

"Thanks. You're one cool dude. Come on Leo, time for us to leave."

Offer a polite bow, grab a candle, and head back into town and prepare to go down to Autumn Glen.

"Well, I'm not in too much of a rush to go back there either… So I guess we can both just wait it out here."

You grab a candle and turn to go.

Leo gives you a questioning look that seems to ask, Who were you talking to?

gently push my way through. "Excuse me? I think I have solved the problem for now."

Alright, let's test his defenses~
Roll the cannon forward.

"Did you give your farewells to the nice man, Leo? Come on, I'll carry you out so we can get a move on."

This is a sick joke by some higher being. I can feel it.

I am going to kill you one day.

Kala in front. Go back to that hellish place.

There's an infant in the crib, sucking thoughtfully on his pacifier. When he notices you, he plops it out and addresses you with a squeaky smile: "Oh, good. You must be the new trainer in town. A boost, please?"

A nearby kid hops up onto the crib that the Shrine Keeper is laying in and picks up the infant, holding him up to eye level with you. He extends a hand to shake.

"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance: I'm Shrine Keeper Ivan, and I truly appreciate that you've helped protect the town. Now, I gathered from Kara that you're here to challenge the shrine? Or would you rather wait until morning?"

What man? You are alone in this room besides Leo. The only other things in this room are a box of candles and a basin.

You return to Witch Hill. You see the servants' quarters off over some menacing looking dead trees and stumps…

You fire your artillery and the walls begin to fall one by one, but return fire blasts your artillery and soldiers to bits.

They're phantumps and trevenants.

A-avoid them and go over to the servant's quarters

Shake his hand gently, as if afraid to hurt him.
"Well Ivan, it wasn't a problem to clear up really, it was all just a huge confusion. And I'd love to challenge the shrine If you're up for it." must not use baby talk.. must not use baby talk

"Mister must have left his water running or something, cause he left in a hurry. And I know he said not to worry about leaving a donation, but it won't hurt either. We gotta be nice to people who help us Leo."

Look around for a donation box. If I don't see one, I'll leave a small donation to buy more candles for others and head out.

Roll to avoid spooky plants.

"Sounds lovely. I will warn you though: fairies may look cute, but looks are deceiving! This is easily one of the most difficult shrines in all of Tianxia. Don't get discouraged if you need to come back later!"

You depart the shrine, candles in hand.

You are in Fogmire, outside the temple.

"But.. what if I get too old while I'm traveling?!" look worried. "Its taken so long to just get two badges.."

Roll #1 3 = 3

I'll chuckle.
"Alright, that's pretty good! Let's see how you deal with this."
I'll move the battering rams and siege towers up, as well as the troops.

"Hold on Leo, time to head towards Autumn Glen and, hopefully, another friend."

Traverse to Sapshire following the Nurse's direction. '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

You avoid them for the longest time until you trip over a branch and slam into one at random!

…It was just a tree. Whew.

"I don't know if anyone has visited all of the Shrines. Well, except maybe the Hidden Master. Of course… you could stay here if you want while you practice. Even if you remain in Autumn Glen for years, you would stay young. Certainly better than what Karl wants, anyway."

Your trip is mostly uneventful, accompanied only by the quiet chirping of distant insects. Until… you get a distinct feeling of unease. You hold up your candle over your head, but it's not very bright: you don't see anything around you. Fumbling with your Pokedex, you activate its flash light: Hanging in the air all around you, flanking the path, staring motionlessly in unmoving silence are a swarm of Shedinja.

They are perfectly still: their wings do not move at all. There is no breathing. No heartbeat. The only thing that moves is their eyes as they track you down the path…

The front wall is already down, so the battering ram can move directly to the keep, but boiling oil is poured out of the upper windows, causing your men to shriek in pain and drop their ram.

I-I need to focus

Just get to that worker's quarters ASAP god damn

Didn't expect that… Hmm. Let's whip up some archers.

Roll #1 5 = 5

"Well, I'm gonna visit all of them! I've got to, or I'll let mint town down.. and I'll never know how to get the bulbasaurs back.."
Look confused "Who is Karl?"

Turn off the phone light.

Keep quiet.

And carry onward.

Roll #1 8 = 8

It seems you don't need to go inside: the chainsaw is sitting right there by the door.

He escalates the battle by building a dragon out of his sand. It takes flight and swoops down, burning apart your siege towers and sending your troops – archers included – cowering.

"Karl was a student of my Gym. Maybe it will be easier to just have Story Time to explain."

The kids seem very enthused about this and start chanting "Story time! Story time!"

They carry off Ivan and assemble, cross-legged, in front of a big chair, where his carrier deposits him. One of the kids indicates for you to sit with them before the chair.

The wind blows out your candle.

You hear a rattling inches from your face, and your hair stands on end. You feel them perhaps half a centimeter from your skin. All around you. Swarming about, silently.

You continue like this, all senses straining for new information, until at long last you see the lights of Sapshire ahead. By the time you enter the light yourself, nothing is around you, but you still feel strongly as though you're being watched.

"…Kala, could you grab that chainsaw for me? Just bring it here. Yeah."

sit down in the indicated chair and look a little excited, maybe this town is getting to me. "Can my pokemon listen too? I bet they would love Story Time."

Full speed ahead. Keep my eyes on the road before me and head for the nearest lamp post.

A dragon, huh? Well, everyone knows that you need a hero to beat a dragon!
Time to make a Togekiss, a Lucario, and a trainer. The lucario will have a headband. '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

Kala flits over and strains to lift the heavy chainsaw. Ugh!

He miserably scoots it over to you.

"Sure! Everyone can listen. Long, long ago, before anyone here lived in Autumn Glen."

"Except you, Ivan!"

"Right, right, of course. But that's not important, please don't interrupt. Anyway, it all started a long, long time ago – before any fairies even lived in Autumn Glen. The name wasn't Autumn Glen, either. It was Forest Glen!"

You arrive in Sapshire. It's dark out, but you see many trees leaking sap, attracting Bug Pokemon to suckle on the trees.

The dragon blasts away the trainer and the Lucario, but Togekiss cuts through the dragon with an Air Slash, and it collapses on the castle, destroying both.

Togepi gives you a long look. Then sneezes and laughs. You blink and realize you've been playing in a sandbox and none of your 'soldiers' look nearly as animated or detailed as you thought they were. Huh. The atmosphere of fairy town must be getting to you. Maybe there really is something to the claim that this place behaves totally different from the rest of Tianxia.

quick let out the whole party to hear the story!

I'll laugh a little too.
"You got me."
I'll sit across from the Togepi for a bit.
"Say, do you want to join me on my pokemon journey? I think you'd make a great friend to me and the rest of my team."

Give him a poffin.

"Great work."

Take the chainsaw and get the hell back.

I'm going to find a nice bench under numerous lights and park myself as I wait for my heart to stop beating.

Are there other people here at this time of night, or is it mostly just my Pokepals and I?

"Fairies have always lived in Tianxia, and other regions, too, but they're hard to find, because while fairies are attracted to children, they cow from adults. According to town legend, there was a little boy - some say he was an orphan, or at least didn't like his parents - but he was upset that someday his fairy friend might leave as he grew up. It is said that the great caves not far from here are where this town's patron, Dialga, the Dragon of Time lives, or perhaps once lived, or perhaps will live some day. The legend states that the boy went to the Dragon and asked him to stay young for ever so that his fairy friends would never leave, and so Dialga froze growth from ever occurring in Forest Glen that September – the month that would never end. Soon kids all across Tianxia heard there was a refuge to run away to if they didn't want to live under the rule of parents and never wanted to grow up, and Autumn Glen became a place for the kids, and that attracted children. Perhaps ironically, the new fairy inhabitants caused Dialga to leave: dragons are the natural foes of fairies."

"But some people wanted to stop it!"

"That's right – city folk have always disbelieved in this kind of stuff and are always trying to come and impose the rules of their adult government. We had to make a barricade, and most people just ignore Autumn Glen outside of rumors."

"But Karl wanted to stop it!"

"Right, right, please let me finish the story! It's true: there was a kid in this city named Karl – Kara's brother, actually. They are twins and left their family together, more than two decades ago."

Kara looks a little embarrassed about this. No wonder she didn't want to tell you the specifics of the past.

"Karl believed that it wasn't enough to just stop adults from coming into Autumn Glen: the whole world should be like this. Apparently he set out on a great journey to find the legendary Wishmaker, Jirachi – with the goal of turning everyone in Tianxia to children."

Ivan sighs: "A fool's errand. And he's giving up his youth in the belief that he can just wish it back."

Togepi gives you a curious, childlike cock of the head. That deviousness and cunning in design must have been your imagination running wild, too.

He downs it, and you painstakingly haul it back to the place where you met that guy. There's no trace of him, or any trace of trees being downed in the first place…

This chainsaw doesn't even have any gas.

Nobody here but us bugs, cap'n.

Well, and there's a bug-catcher on the other end of town trying to fish a caterpie down from a tree with a net.

You know what?

I'm just going to pop into Fogmire pokecenter. Put Owlene in and take out my new Monferno.

Then I'm going to pull up the map.

I'm not going to think of anything else.

Nah. I'll take out a pokeball, and put it between me and the Togepi.
"Do you want to come along with me?"

This must be a small place if I could see the other end of town from where I am.

I'll head over to the Bug Catcher.

"Yo', need any help with that?"

Listen closely, at the edge of my seat even. "but when did he leave?"

File: 1388559096612.png (380 KB, 2418x998, routes.png)

Fogmire is as swampy as you remember. You pop in and do just that.

Togepi seems a little apprehensive.

Oh yes, very small. More trees than buildings, as it were.

"Uh, you any good at climbing trees? Or maybe you have a Pokemon with Headbutt?"

"Let's see… um, that would be… nine years ago. He'd be about fourteen, physically, now, right?

"It's your choice, but I'd like if you came with me."

"Sorry, no headbutt. But maybe my Shuckle can climb up and get it down for you."

"Hm.. Maybe If I travel all over fast enough, I'l find him, and get him to come back to you before its too late."
and then nod. "I'm sorry was that the end of the story?"

Heal up fully.

Autmn Glen looks like a nice place.

I-I don't feel like staying here right now.

I think I'll keep on the road.

Go down to swamp road. Kala still in front.

Roll persuasion.

"Uh, alright. Be careful."

"More or less. It's the part with Karl, anyway. But I'm not too worried about Karl. Jirachi is said to be the most elusive of the pantheon, and to see ANY mythic Pokemon is a great rarity. Still, if you see him, maybe you could convince him to come home before he gets too old."

Do do dododo.

You depart the town, passing the Goletts which stare at you and the Gastly which flit about the sky.

Roll to traverse.

Togepi nods and taps the Pokeball.

Gotcha! Togepi was caught. Nice deception, you evil rogue.

Give a nickname to deceived Pokemon?

The road is too dark for you to see much, but your trip is uneventful. A shiver goes down your spine, but you figure whatever there is to see, you didn't see it. Maybe it just saw you.

You arrive in Sapshire.

Roll perception.

'1d10' perception .

"Come on out Pallet."

Get him out of the Pokeball. "Alright, if you don't mind, let's help out a bit. Can you climb up and knock that Caterpie off of its branch? I'll give you boost so you don't have to climb too much."

Lift Pallet up as much as possible and send him after that Caterpie.

Fiddle with my pokedex

I don';t want to be alone

Roll #1 2 = 2

That wasn't a roll

"Ha, well, I'm sure everyone has their theories."

It was certainly Ivan. You wonder why he wouldn't want to mention it was him. Still… that means Ivan has been here for as long as this has been Autumn Glen. He must have been an infant when he made the wish… Only a truly irresponsible daycare keeper would let a baby crawl into a dragon's cave, you muse.

You've just met Chris, right? NSABook says he's northwest of here.

Pallet gingerly works his way up the tree with his tentacles-leg-arm-things. Finally he gets to the top, pries the Caterpie loose, and knocks it down into the net.

I'm not deceiving him. If he wants to fight with everyone, I'll let him. If not, then I won't.
And I think I'll call him… hmm. Oswald. Oswald's good.

"No worries. Us trainers gotta help each other."

Wave Pallet back down and give him a thumbs up.

"What are you doing out here so late?"

tilt my head a bit at him. "Well. I guess we should battle if that's all for the story."

So he IS in Autumn Glen

Maybe we can be togetehr a while or something

I need

Let's go now now now

Lee Harvey was sent to the PC.

"Uh, my Caterpie was hungry, so I let him out, but he went too high! I think I need a badge to get him to listen to me."

"Alright. Can someone get me my bag?"

A kid carries over a baby bag, from which Ivan fishes out a Pokeball.

You hike past the only two people in town for the northwest side. They're a bug catcher and a weirdo on roller skates.

There's a cave entrance here.

"There should be a gym nearby you can get one from, and you could wait for a bus to pass by to get there. But, in the meantime, why not make sure you get the food for Caterpie yourself. He'll listen to you a bit more if he trusts you to get him food."

"How long have you been together?"

"Right, lets start off with Solaire!" urge oddish forward. "Don't let your guard down buddy."

"Hey Ivan, do you like being so small?"

Is there not a straight road ahead? I don't need to go past a cave, right?

Ha ha. Such humor. I should probably head towards the Autumn Glen Pokecenter. Give Oswald a chance to meet the rest of the crew.

"It doesn't bother me. Like I said, looks are deceiving!"

SHRINE KEEPER IVAN wants to fight!

SHRINE KEEPER IVAN sent out Togepi!

He shrugs. "Just a couple days. I'm about to start my Pokemon journey."

You need to go through a small cave to get onto the Fall Road.

Passing the mountain range through the small cave, you come out into the reds and oranges of the Fall Road, which seems to fit its name. It seems very much September here, and quite dark, as there are no lamps here.

You head over there. It's still empty. That computer looks ancient… you hope it works.

Alright… let's swap out Sleepy for Oswald. See what he knows.

"That seems to be a theme of this town.. but just, it seems really hard to not be able to reach anything on your own.."
"Solaire, try an Acid." '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Interesting climate. Must be the fairy pokemon or something I don't know much abotu them but they seem cute.

Let's head to Autumn Glen.

"Noice. Remember to always look out for your pokemon and hang out with them whenever you get the chance. You'll be rocking in no time. But I have to part now. I've got a meeting to attend to in Autumn Glen. Catch ya later!"

Wave and get back on the road towards Jigglypuff.

Traverse roll. '1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

You head through a short cave onto the Fall Road, which seems perpetually in a state of autumn. With little incident, you arrive in Autumn Glen at the same time as some city trainer.

With little incident, you arrive in Autumn Glen at the same time as that weirdo on the shakes.

You swap for Oswald. Out the window of the Pokecenter, you see two newcomer boys about your age walk into town.

Out the daycare window you can see two new boys just walked into town.

Ivan chuckles. "I have faith that my family here in Autumn Glen will take care of me – and my Pokemon too. For all your size, you can not fly like a Fearow more than I can, and next to the size and strength of a Charizard, you might look like you belong in a crib! It's true: you could carry me around with one arm, if you wanted to, but a Machamp could do that to you. The thing you have to understand about this town is that… for us, our friendships with Pokemon, with these fairy types… it's more important to us than being tall or physically strong. I think anyone with a true friendship has that beautiful spark of childhood still within them."

Skate off towards the city trainer with Leo on my back since he seems closer.

"Sup dude, are you from here?"

Two boys, and they both aren't Chris? Maybe something happened..

I'll head out of the center, and have both Lucas and Oswald out.

Is this guy following me or something?

Look impressed by his speech. "You really are smart Ivan. I am learning so much from this shrine already!" I say excited. "Of course I want to be with my pokemon forever, so I can understand that."
