Crypt Quest 2 Campfire 420222[Last 50 Posts]

The party stands inside the government district outside of a bank after cashing their checks. Four guards stand by the doors to make sure that the party does not reenter while the safe clean up the mess made by Bessy's party cannon. Crowds of ponies, donkeys, and ostriches move up and down the streets on their way to work. It is not yet noon, and the party has the day to do with what they wish.

Payment/loot for the mansion job:
Dreamkicker: 200 marks, old gold ring meant to be worn at base of tail, book about vampires, magic skilbook, basic magic weapon
Brutus: Crumbled buffalo sized helmet that causes visions when touched, book of poetry written by a knight, basic magic weapons
Pomelo: 200 marks, basic magic weapon
Andelia: Old club made of dark wood that causes visions when touched, basic magic weapon
Happyhorn: 50 marks, orange unicorn horn that causes visions when touched, old silk ceremonial Inquisitor minotaur outfit, basic magic weapon
Olga: 200 marks, free minion, basic magic weapon
Muddy Morass: 200 marks, basic magic weapon
Bessy: 200 marks, party cannon
Correct me if I forgot anything.

Olga [Lifebinder] 420223

>basic magic weapon

What choice do I have?

I'd like it to be a ring to add onto my staff.

andelia [druid] 420224

Looks fine to me

Campfire 420225

That works. Basically they have a simple enchant enchantment that lets them do damage to ethereal enemies like ghosts and elementals.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420226

The entire day?

"Hey Pommy, what should we do?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 420227

I stretch and shake off a bit of my sleepiness.
"Well, what now? Do we go find more baddies to whack? Or should we take a little shopping trip?"

Olga [Lifebinder] 420228

"My hooves are tired! I will be… sitting along benches if you want to go shopping. Hornbeard, why don't you follow them?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 420229

"I dunno about you, but another bath after all that sounds great."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420230

You forgot Pommy's hat~

"I don't know how much 200 marks is going to take us, particularly if we plan on fighting whatever it is that is harming this city.

"We might need to find more money."

"It's no time for naps and baths. You're worse than lazy undergraduates."

Andelia [druid] 420231

I smile "well who knows what other trouble there might be. We can ask around town if you want to find more baddies."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420232

ALSO Bessy's 10/10 hat too!

"So we should go look for more work?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 420233

"What, didn't you learn anything about personal hygiene in those fancy learnings of yours? Gross."

Pomelo [Preacher] 420234

"Well we have three of us each with however many marks we got, so that's…"
I move my hooves in the dirt, lightly writing out math equations
"That's this many!" I hold up two hooves in the air.

"Oh, good idea! But what if we ask a bad guy? There's no way he'd tell us to beat his butt!"

Andelia [druid] 420235

"We might not get many jobs if we're dirty. A bath would be okay."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420236

"Fine. Baths. A quick one at someplace small that won't recognize us and throw us out."

I check his math. Is it right?

Campfire 420237

"Are you sure, mistress Olga? If something happens I won't be here to help you."

Andelia [druid] 420238

"Pommy be careful not to trip. But I think we will know if its a bad guy or not."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 420239

"Hey, there's hope for you yet!"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420240

"Silly Pommy!"
I start hopping around, telling him the math in a sing song voice.
"200 is just 2 with two zeroes after it! And 2 plus 2 plus 2, or 2 times the 3 of us, is 6! So all together we have 600 marks!"

Pomelo [Preacher] 420241

"I dunno… I don't want any more mean mares to throw us out again! Besides, I don't wanna go back there without proper materials."
I wink my eyes in an obvious manner

"Alright, I knew you had a good eye Andy!"

Pomelo [Preacher] 420242

I hop around with her
"Haha yeah! That's exactly what I said Bessy! Thanks for singing out for the rest of 'em."
Big bro hug on Bessy!

Olga [Lifebinder] 420243

"Not like the damned Inquisitors want anything to do with us now!"

"It's fine. Go out and explore the world as it is a bit!"

Campfire 420244

He looks carefully at the party before moving closer to Andelia.

Andelia [druid] 420245

"If you're tired maybe we should find a place for you to lay down. Are you still feeling weak from the mansion?"

Andelia [druid] 420246

I smile at him. "Don't worry too much, Olga is tougher than she let's on."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420247

"Baths first, and then we go find work, okay?"

Stop a passerby and ask where the nearest bath is.

Pomelo [Preacher] 420248

I grumble
"If any meanie mares lay hooves on me this time I'll never take another bath with you ever again… this week."

Campfire 420249

She looks down her nose at you.
"A group of beggars looking for a bath? Have I walked into a joke? Try the residential district. I doubt the people at the city's public bath would let you in."
She huffs and walks away.

Olga [Lifebinder] 420250

"I am not! I just… need a rest, is all."

Lean a bit more on my staff.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420251

"Waaaait! We'll be right back!"
I grab Pomelo and toss him up on my back then go darting off towards the nearest bath store.

Roll #1 10 = 10

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420252

I smirk a little.

I scowl. "Maybe we really do need baths."

Go to the residential district and go into the first bath we can find.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 420253

"Man, is everyone in this town a snob?"

"Whoa, you okay, crazy?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 420254

I hold on tight!

Andelia [druid] 420255

I mix up a natural remedy. "Don't be shy about your needs." '1d10+2'

Roll #1 6 + 2 = 8

Campfire 420256

Hornbeard looks at you, worried.

You find a card on the ground from Bob's baths, located in the market district. You doubt that the city's government district would have many shops in it.

You leave the party and the government district. After passing many stone houses you see a wide, plain building whose signage indicates that it is a bathhouse. However, you also remember that the city has a large, free bathhouse elsewhere in the Residential district.

The remedy is mixed, but it will not keep for very long.

Olga [Lifebinder] 420257

Take it and drink.

"Thank you child. I'm not as young as I used to be! Those inquisitors don't know what they're dealing with, I'll tell you that. Get ready to go back in…"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420258

Go to the big free one and wait for Bessy and Pomelo.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420259

I head over to that store!

Andelia [druid] 420260

"Here you should try thus ogla, it should make you feel better." I hand the remedy to her. And go after the others

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 420261

I'll head for the large one as well.

Andelia [druid] 420262

"We will be ready."

Pomelo [Preacher] 420263

Well… look around on the way there. Any stores that look like they'd sell any kind of bath items with enchantments? '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

Campfire 420264

You feel your tiredness leaving you.

You go back to the city's historical baths and wait in the plaza as creature's of all sorts come and go, talking and laughing with each other. After several minutes Happyhorn and Brutus are the only ones to show up.

You see a few shops dedicated to bath supplies, but non of them look like what you are looking for. Soon, both of you arrive.

You leave the government and it's tall spires behind as you enter the residential district. Before long you have passed it's tightly packed, multifaimily building's behind and entered the hustle and bustle of the merchant's district. All sorts of creatures in all manners of dress, or lack thereof, quickly come and go. You ignore them, them various shops, and the various people calling out over the noise of the city to advertise for a shop or a service. Before long you arrive at a large building with a big sign on top. The foreign words are written in the local language, but they are made of giant soap bubbles. Underneath, in small letters, it says Bob's Baths.

With Dreamkicker and Happyhorn, or with Bessy and Pomelo?

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420265

I hop inside!
"I need the most potent bath salts you have!"

Andelia 420266

I better follow bessy and pomelo.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420267

Wait outside.

Any wanted posters or help wanted notices or anything?

Olga [Lifebinder] 420268

Ah, never mind.

Any shops selling religious or spiritual good around? I could use some incense.

Pomelo [Preacher] 420269

"Wait, salt! We're not cookin nothin Bessy! We need SUDS. Bubble bath mix and all that!"

Andelia [Druid] 420270

"wait, last time you brought bubbles into the bath you were kicked out! Just buy soap."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420271

"Ooooh, duh! That's right! Thanks Pommy!"

"But… but…"
I whimper at her and give her puppy dog eyes.

Andelia [Druid] 420272

I shake my head "Bessy, we can't cause more trouble in this city."

Pomelo [Preacher] 420273

"We didn't even bring any in! We prayed for em! But there wasn't nearly enough…"

I whimper at her too.
"Pleeeease Andy? We won't get kicked out of anything! There's always whatever private baths at whatever inn we stay at!"

Andelia [Druid] 420274

I sigh giving way under the double puppy dog eyes "Alright.. but you two better not get kicked out of anything."

Campfire 420275

You join them in the store.

A donkey steps out from behind a counter.
"Follow me miss, and tell me what sort of potency you are looking for."
He starts leading you, Pomelo, and Andelia through the large, aromatic store.

"Bubble bath? we have all sorts. Tell me what kinds of colors, scents, and bubble sizes you want and I will find them for you."

Not in the government district, but you've got the feeling that you can find all sorts of shops in the merchant's district.

There is a largeish board covered in bills near the entrances to the two bathhouses.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420276

Look at the board. Anything interesting?

Roll #1 9 = 9

Pomelo [Preacher] 420277

"Oh oh! Bath Bubbles! Lots of bubbles! Bubbles that make more bubbles until the whole place is like covered in bubbles!"
I spread my arms out for emphasis

Andelia [Druid] 420278

I keep a sharp eye out, these salemen might be cons. '1d10' to notice anything odd about them

Roll #1 1 = 1

Olga [Lifebinder] 420279

"Going to see the merchant's district. You kids be good!"

And go off there.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420280

"Yeah! The biggest bubbles you can make!"

Campfire 420281

You see a bill that was posted by the local farmer's council asking for aid with a pest control problem; the reward for this is unusually large. There is a help wanted ad asking for "discreet individuals wanting to advance the fields of science and magic" that was posted by a Doctor Frank Intense. The reward for this one seems a bit small. There is an add asking for adventurers to gather and discuss ways to combat the vampire menace. The reward for this one is moderate.

"Follow me."
He leads you past a few isles then down one and waves at a pegasus employee flying overhead before pointing at something on a top shelf. She grabs it and drops it into his grasp. he then leads you all to a small basin full of water in the middle of a sloped, tile floor.
He drips a single drop into the water, and it is soon full of bubble the size of a foal. These multiply and spread until they have covered a good portion of the tile floor.
"Interested? The law requires me to warn you that these are not to be used around children, or by children, or by those with the minds of children."

You are certain that this must be the nest of vampires that are plaguing the city. The bath soaps and other scents here must be masking the smell of blood and death.

You see several different shops in the merchants district that might meet your needs. Some cater to specific dieties while others are more general in what they stock.

Pomelo [Preacher] 420282

I hop up and down and clap my hooves
"Yesyesyesyesyes! This is perfect for responsible adults like us! How much?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420283

I gasp in amazement.
"We'll take them! We'll take theeeem!"
I hop up and down with Pomelo.
"Yeah! How much?"

Andelia [Druid] 420284

I look frightened of the bubble and the salepony "What's dangerous about the bubbles?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420285

Take the bills and put them in my saddlebag.

Olga [Lifebinder] 420286

Deities… we must here ward off the Night Herald, so…

Look for some Celestia relating things.

Campfire 420287

"Fifty marks for the bottle."
He shows it to you. It's the size of Pomelo's hoof.

"There have been…incidents of goat kids and ostrich chicks getting caught in the bubbles and either suffocating or floating away. It's a safe product so long as it's used responsibly. Oh, and don't drink it. You wouldn't think I would have to tell anyone this, but I do."

You place the three job bills in your saddlebag. Bessy, Pomelo, and Andelia are still not here.

Oddly enough, there are no Celestia dedicated shops here. There are plenty of shops selling items that will allow you to praise the sun though.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420288

Read a bit from that book about magic.

Roll #1 4 = 4

Olga [Lifebinder] 420289

Sure. The sun must ward off the night.

What are available? Any… torches?

Andelia [Druid] 420290

I frown "I think you should get something safer.. you have something that can make a lot of bubbles, but isn't so risky right?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 420291

"Hmm… ya sure you want 50 marks for it? You suuuure you don't want some of that payment in song?"
Can the noncombat effect of inspire get me a slightly better price? Whip out my instrument and play a song '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

Campfire 420292

You make it through a few pages, but reading outside is difficult. Life as a professor has spoiled you.

There are plenty of sun shops selling holy torches. You've got traditional wooden torches, more modern metal ones that are renewable, and even magical ones that shine with sunlight instead of firelight.

"Like I said, madam, they are perfectly safe if used responsibly."

You sing a song about how much you love bathtime. He smiles.
"Tell you want. I can knock the price down to forty marks, but no lower. This stuff isn't very common."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420293

Any food vendors nearby?

Pomelo [Preacher] 420294

Buy it!

"Come on Bessy! Let's go find Dreamy!"

Andelia [Druid] 420295

I shift uncomfortably "Right.. can we leave now?" '1d10' note where the doors and windows are.

Roll #1 6 = 6

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420296

"We'll take it!"
I pony up 40 marks and buy a bottle of the stuff with a great big excited buffalo smile.

Or not!
"Thanks for the bath bubbles!"
I head out with Pomelo to find DK!

Muddy Morass 420297

Where are we?

Olga [Lifebinder] 420298

Sunlight… yes.

"How much for a bit of sunshine for a pilgrim seeking salvation, shopkeeper?"

Andelia [Druid] 420299

follow them closely.

Pomelo [Preacher] 420301

"You okay Andy? You're lookin' a little nervous there… Are ya sick?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420302

"Are you alright Andy?… You don't look so well…"

Andelia [Druid] 420305

I smile "lets just enjoy our day, there's nothing to be done about it just now."

Campfire 420306

There is that fruit vendor you all met when you first came to these baths. there is a long line of different creatures waiting to buy fruit from him.

You now have Superbubble Supersoap. There is an extensive warning list written in a language you cannot read.

There are a few doors marked with signs that you can only assume say STAFF ONLY in the local language. There are a few large windows at the front of the shop by the entrance and exit.

The three of you leave the shop and make the long walk to the merchant's district. You can all see Dreamkicker standing by himself in the plaza in front of the city's historic bathhouses.

In the merchant's district by yourself, or with all of the party except for Olga in front of two large bathhouses in the residential district.

"The Sunshine torches? One hundred and eighty marks."

Olga [Lifebinder] 420308

"One hundred and eighty? Why… such a pity. I was hoping to find some light as I came here, but all I have to really spend is One Hundred and Fifty. My grandchildren need some other things, and I would loathe to deprive them if I spent it all on this torch…"

Pomelo [Preacher] 420309

"Well if you say so. But if you're feelin' sick just tell me and I can heal you right up!"

I run up hug Dreamkicker from behind
"Heya Dreamy! We're back!"

Andelia [Druid] 420310

I wave at Dreamkicker and guide our group over to them.
"it was just all those strong smells in one place, bothered me ya' know."

Muddy Morass 420312

I guess I'll go on an item hunt, first. What's my basic magic weapon?

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420314

I join in on the hug too!
"Whatcha lookin' at DK?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 420315

"Ahh, sensitive nose. Gotcha."
Boop her on the nose

Campfire 420316

The pony behind the counter examines his hoof.
"Sorry miss, but these are blessed by the sun itself and in great demand during these troubled times. These are your best friend at night with vampires roaming around, because these things can kill the little freaks."

State the items you are looking for and roll, please.
The magic weapon is whatever you took from the armory in the mansion. If you didn't take one then tell me what you want.

Andelia [Druid] 420318

I blink and then smile returning the boop "Show Dreamkicker your new soap silly"

Muddy Morass 420319

I want a magic fist-weapon. Like a boxing glove full of magic lead or something.

As for what I'm searching for? Let's see… we're hunting vampires next, right? I guess I better go get some stakes. Steaks would be nice, too. '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420321

Meet up with them.

"Are we ready? What took you so long?"

Andelia [Druid] 420323

"Fancy bubble making soap, barely legal stuff."

Pomelo [Preacher] 420324

I scrunch at the boop and rub my nose

"We had some shopping to do and I got this really super neat bottle of bubble bath mix with a whooole buncha boring writing on the back of it!"
I shove the bottle in his face

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420327

What's the back say?

Olga [Lifebinder] 420328

"Ah! Well, in that case… I understand. Let me see your metal ones."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420329

Roll #1 8 = 8

Campfire 420333

Magical, leaded boxing glove, check.
You find a shop with a large mechanical gryphon and diamond dog standing on top and waving at the people that pass by. The shop has pictures of various cuts of meat on the windows. Next dooor is a shop marked with holy symbols and broken fangs.

You can't read it, but you bet one of the locals can. If only there were some way for you to learn the language.

He takes out a few metal ones and lays them down on the counter.
"These come in all sorts of styles. The nicer ones have internal fuel reservoirs and only need oil and a wick to burn. The less expensive ones just like a wooden torch, but do more damage if used as an impromptu weapon and are less likely to break. You've got a choice one a hundred and ten marks, or seventy marks."

Muddy Morass 420335

Okay, let's try out the spooky hunter shop first.

Kick open the door and zoom in. "Aiight I need to talk to some kind of vampire expert."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420336

"I think it's something about how dangerous it is! The guy at the shop said the bubbles from this can pick up foals and float them up up and away!"

Andelia [Druid] 420338

"it makes bubbles big enough to suffocate goat kids with a single drop, and don't let anyone drink it."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420340

"Just, uh, be careful with that, Pommy."

Go into the bath house and get ready for bathtime.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420342

Yeah! Let's go!
I hop over to the bathhouse too.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420343

"Bessy, unless we want a repeat of last time, you and Pommy are going to need to split up.

"Is that okay?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 420345

Follow them! Any places that aren't taken in there? '1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420346

I immediately stop falling and look crestfallen.
"B- But… but… but me and Pommy always take baths together! Ever since we were little!…"

Andelia [Druid] 420348

"Cheer up, you can take your bath with me this time. and your bubble stuff has more than enough to share." I look in the mare's side for an open private bathtub.

Andelia [Druid] 420350

Roll #1 4 = 4

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420351

"But… but… I- I've never taken a bath without Pommy! Never ever!"
I plop down on the ground and start shivering.

Campfire 420352

"Riiight here, sir."
A pegasus with his mane slicked back with mane grease motions to you from behind a counter.
"What can I get for you, my fine hunter of nocturnal monsters?"
The wall is lined with all sorts of wooden holy symbols with as many staked ends as possible, cloves of garlic of dubious freshness, holy water blessed by every sort of religious official you have ever heard of and many you haven't, bags of sand, mirrors, sun paste, and more.

You stop before entering to caution Bessy and loosen the straps holding on your saddlebag.

All of the smaller rooms are packed full, and all of the private rooms are taken. The main bathtub is crowded.

There are a few empty ones, but it looks like the cleaning staff haven't gotten to them. Rinsing the tubs out with water should fix them up just fine though. You quickly run back out to finish your conversation with Bessy.

Andelia [Druid] 420354

"Well, if we hurry we can get an open tub.." I put a hoof on your shoulder "Hey, you can't take Pomelo with you everywhere can you? Its the rule here that mares and stallions bath separately.."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420359

"I guess not…"
I sniffle and follow her into the baths.

Pomelo [Preacher] 420360

"A dumb rule too. Hmph!"

"Sorry Bessy… just this once."
I nudge Bessy and show her the bottle
"Why don't you take some with ya?"

Muddy Morass 420361

Point at the bags of sand. "What are these for?"

Prod the bags of sand. Do they feel like breasts?

"And do you have anything made of silver? Wait, was silver for werewolves? Hm…"

Andelia [Druid] 420362

I smile "It won't be so bad.." I get the tub ready and splash a bit in bessy's face with a smirk

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420365

"C'mon, Pommy."

Can I find anything? Maybe the right bath is just hiding behind all of these ponies and such. See 'ems through the crowd.

Roll #1 5 + 2 = 7

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420366

"Oh. Okay…"
I take half and put it in one of my bottles, THEN follow Andy.

I don't even flinch as she splashes me, still too sad from having to take a bath without Pomelo.

Olga [Lifebinder] 420368

"I take good care of my things, but I need ease of burning."

Take the hundred ten one.

Andelia [Druid] 420369

I frown "Come on now, add a drop of your bubble stuff."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420370

I pour half of the half that I have in the bath with the saddest frown on my face.

Pomelo [Preacher] 420371

I sigh and follow him

Andelia [Druid] 420375

Stir up the bubbles as she does so, "That's probably too much.. but okay"

Campfire 420379

They feel like teats. You are reminded of that time you fought against those ponies that were infected by evil mushrooms.
"You jest, my fine fellow. Everyone knows that vampires are obsessive compulsive. simply spill the bag of sand where they can see it and they absolutely must stop until they have counted every last grain! Thirty marks! We have a few silver odds and ends. They're good for both vampires and werebeasts, but most effective against the latter."

You open your third eye and quickly spot a family leaving one for the private rooms and the cleaning staff moving in. It should be ready soon.

You run some water through the tub to get rid of the hair then plug the rain and fill it up. It is big enough to comfortable fit both you and Bessy.

He slaps a few vials of oil and a few wicks on the counter then lays out a wide selection of metal torches in different styles.
"Take the one you want. The extra wicks and oil are free."

The tub quickly overflows with bubbles which fill up the room. When Andelia stirs the bubbly water the bubbles get so thick that they lift you up until you are both touching the ceiling.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420381

Push my way towards the opening bath and claim it as soon as they leave.

"Found a spot."

And then take a bath and stuff.

Muddy Morass 420383

"Hmmm… I thought it was bad luck to spill sand. I suppose that's what the mirrors are for, eh? Use them as a shield so it will curse your enemies when they break them."

Andelia [Druid] 420384

I laugh and push a bubble toward Bessy. "We're flying Bessy"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420386

Roll #1 10 = 10

Pomelo [Preacher] 420387

I plop down in the bath and dump some bubble mix in. Little more than half of what I have
"This'll feel nice after spending all that time in that big creepy house…"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420390

As the bubbles start to form and fill the room, that finally breaks my funk and I immediately brighten up, a wide smile appearing on my face.

"We're flying! We're flyyyyiiiing! Weeeeeee!"
I try to propel myself around!

Roll #1 8 = 8

Campfire 420394

The water is warm and relaxing. the lack of the noise of the crowd outside, or a large, hairy buffalo most likely makes this the most relaxing bath you have had since coming home with Pomelo and Bessy.

He pauses for half a second then smiles wide.
"Yes, that is exactly what they are for. you can also use them to check to see if someone is a vampire, because everyone knows vampires have no reflection. Such a multipurpose item normally goes for a very high price, but mine are quite reasonable."

The large bubbles fill the tube and extend about a foot beyond the lip of it. Dreamkicker looks pretty funny through all these bubbles.

After a few tries you figure out how to "swim" through the sea of bubbles.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420396

Get clean~

Roll #1 3 = 3

Andelia [Druid] 420397

have you ever seen an earth pony fly? '1d10' try to keep up with bessy. "you're pretty fast."

Roll #1 1 = 1

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420398

scrub harder dammit

Roll #1 2 = 2

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420399

that's not how it fucking works

use the horn and the sponge

Roll #1 1 = 1

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420400

aw screw it

Muddy Morass 420403

"Nah, I've got mirror pills."

Go look for a stake blessed by Celestia. "Hey… are these REALLY blessed by Celestia? How come she doesn't just kill vampires herself?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 420406

Drop a few more drops of bubble mix and relax
Rolling to not doze off '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Campfire 420409

Your thrashing in the tub fills the room with thick bubbles and presses you and Pomelo against the ceiling. you try to run a slight electrical charge through them, but this makes them pop which sends you both belly flopping into the tub.

A bubble gets in your mouth and you start to choke.

"Of course they are. She would have killed them, but they are technically citizen of this country so that would have looked bad among the politicians. You know how they are."

You are wide awake after all that.

Andelia [Druid] 420411

Shit.. uh, pop it by biting it? '1d10'
Make a universal sign for choking -hooves on neck- so bessy can notice what's happening

Roll #1 9 = 9

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420412

"Maybe you shouldn't use so much of that, Pommy."

Get scrubbin' again.

Roll #1 9 = 9

Pomelo [Preacher] 420417

I get out of the tub and shake myself semi-dry
"Woohoo! That was sooo fun, Dreamy! Oh man, if only Bessy could be here for this…"
I stare at the tub for a second, then light up with a smile.

Open the bath door and put a few more drops in the tub, making sure to have some bubble mix leftover. Is that enough to send some bubbles out the door?

Muddy Morass 420419

"Is this Sun Paste washer-friendly?"

Campfire 420420

It pops pretty easily. After watching Bessy for a bit you learn to swim in the bubbles too.

Scrubadubdub, two dudes in a tub.
You are now clean.

It sure is. the bubbles spill out into the hallway.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420421

I rush over to her and try to help her out!

Roll #1 6 = 6

Campfire 420423

"Certainly, but you are supposed to rub it into something a vampire would wear."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420425

"Wh-what are you doing?"

Get out, dry off, prepare to leave quickly.

Muddy Morass 420426

"I've heard that vampires can be easily identified in sunlight because they start to sparkle. Is that true?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 420428

"This is the kind of fun you can't keep to yourself, silly!"
How far do the bubbles go? '1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

Campfire 420432

She helped herself and is fine now.

You are dry and ready to go grab your things.

"Some do. Most breeds smoke or burn though."

Pretty far. You can hear surprised voices coming from the main bath area.

Muddy Morass 420434

"Do you price-match with the Amazon?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 420438

My tail wags and a huge grin appears on my face
"I'm happy now! Come on Dreamy, let's go."

Walk out inconspicuously. '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420441

Follow and try to be inconspicuous.

Roll #1 5 = 5

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420444

"You okay Andy?"

Campfire 420446

"The Amazonian pack of diamond dogs isn't much interested in doing business with anyone that isn't a male diamond dog, and even then they only want one sort of business."
He waggles his eyebrows suggestively.

You walk out whistling a little tune. everyone is too distracted by the bubbles to spare you a second glance.

You walk a bit too quickly, but soon you and your stuff is back outside.

Andy is sleep.

Muddy Morass 420451

"Alright, well, thanks for your help."

Leave the shop and look for a new one. '1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

Pomelo [Preacher] 420452

Patiently wait around for Bessy while whistling

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420453

I guess I swim over to Pomelo then.
"Hi Pommy!"
I wave to him.

Pomelo [Preacher] 420454

Give her a big hug
"This bubble stuff is so so neat! We're gonna need a whole lot more to take home! Did ya have fun with Andy?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420455

Am I still in the bubble or did that finally wear off?

Olga [Lifebinder] 420456

I'll just take those, then.

Now, look for some incense? Those dedicated to warding off Grogar, maybe?

Campfire 420457

You spot another vampire hunter shop at the back of an alley.

You swim out of the room and walk the rest of the way to Pomelo.
You are now outside in the plaza.

It's still in the room.

"Incense to ward off the influences of the dread ram? We've got that, the same stuff you can find a a necromancy shop. They aren't perfect, but you get eight sticks for five marks."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420458

I show the others the flyers I found.

"If we need money, these could work."

Muddy Morass 420460

No way this could go wrong!

Go check it out. But first, let's look the part. Put on my best vampire hunter disguise. '1d10+2'

Roll #1 2 + 2 = 4

Pomelo [Preacher] 420461

"We could always use more money! What's it for?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420462

"One's for some sort of pest extermination. Worth a lot. Another is for some sort of research opportunity, and another is for fighting vampires."

Campfire 420464

Nothing too important will be happening from now until the quest resumes, unless you want to keep playing. Feel free to keep talking.

You put on your Dan Hellsinger costume and walk in. A skinny unicorn stops stocking a shelf and turns to look at you as you enter.
"An aspiring hunter? You've come to the right place, my friend. Will you be looking for a starter kit?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 420466

"That sounds like fun!"
And that's it for me. 'Night.

Pomelo [Preacher] 420467

"…None of those sound all that fun… But researchin' stuff is right up your alley! Let's check it out!"

And I'm done for the night. Thanks for running!

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 420468

"Yes, this might be a good opportunity."

done too. Thanks!

Muddy Morass 420469

Thanks for runnin

Campfire 420470

Goodnight. Thanks for playing.

Campfire 421711

I think we can just resume from where we left off.

Everyone who I expect will be here right away was outside the bathhouses last time and had finished bathing.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 421712

And I'm somewhere, serving as Happyhorn's mobile platform.

Andelia [druid] 421713

I think I nearly died on a bubble and probably went to wait outside for the others

Campfire 421714

Happyhorn took you to the bathhouses and most likely left you outside while she went to take a bath.

You are outside with Dreamkick, Bessy, Pomelo, Hornbeard, and maybe Brutus.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 421715

Well, the mess on my back is full of doggy bags of breakfast foods, still, so I suppose until she pops out of her bath to "clean house" I'm stuck waiting.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 421716

I show everyone the flyers I got here:

"We need more money. I would recommend either the pest control or that research project."

Andelia [druid] 421717

I look completely lost "You found us jobs already? What does that Flier say?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 421718

I suppose he does need some cleaning up here.

Campfire 421719

You can see Dreamkicker showing Andelia some fliers.

There are three of them.

Campfire 421720

That would require some action on your part.

Right. Well since I'm done with the bath, I'll do what I can to clean house up there.

Roll #1 2 = 2

Campfire 421722

Lots of the food has spilled out of the bags and into his fur.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 421723

Oh boy.
"There should be a comb of some variety up there, I think. Or there was at one point."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 421724

"This is absolutely disgusting."

"Oh geez. Sorry about this, big guy."
Let's try again.

"Little bit, yeah…I don't even remember eating up here!"

Roll #1 10 = 10

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 421726

"I had asked Pomelo to secure a few bags in case you got hungry."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 421727

"You did that for me? Aww, you big ol' softie…but it's hard enough on you with me nesting up there. You didn't need to make a mess of yourself!"

Campfire 421728

Careful work with the comb is able to pick out all the small bits of food you cannot pick out with your hooves. You toss it all away then get started on reforming your little bunker. You make good use of the fur left sticky by the food and are able to reinforce your little bunk so that it will retain its shape better. Once that is done you comb clean fur over it to keep our own coat from becoming sticky. After it is all said and done your buffalo bunker is better than new.

Andelia [druid] 421729

I try to change the topic "Well.. there are quite a few of us.. I think it would be better to go to the vampire extermination meeting, see what they know. I am curious about the Dr's offer, maybe we can send someone to see what he requires?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 421730

"Well, you were asleep at the time, and I thought most goats wouldn't want to miss breakfast."
"If we manage perhaps to track down that first group of vampires that attacked us when we arrived at town, I wouldn't mind going on the hunt, as it were."

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 421731

"I dunno. What's in your starter kit?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 421732

"Yeah, but I shouldn't be eating up here!"

"There! Good as new! Better, even!"

Andelia [druid] 421733

I lean in close "That soap shop would be a good place to start, all those smells must be covering up something! "

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 421734

"Just seems easier, and besides I'm sure you'd tidy up after you were done."
I'll nod slightly.
"Then perhaps that's our first stop."

Campfire 421735

He pulls sets a small box on a counter and opens it.
"A few holy symbols of the most popular religions, several stakes, a small mirror, bandages, lamp oil, a flare, and my specialty: resistance pills. Each one of these can also be bought separately."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 421736

"Maybe, but how polite would that be?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 421737

"So, decisions? Where does everyone want to go?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 421738

I'll chuckle slightly.
"Likely less polite than sleeping on someone for a few hours."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 421739

"For vampires or rats?"

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 421740

"That doesn't seem like such a bad deal. Why are you in an alleyway?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 421741

"Well, one might lead to the other, to be honest. You never quite know, in large cities. Though I'm a bit too large to be hunting rats. There wouldn't be anything left."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 421742

"So Vampires. Fine.

"Andelia? Happyhorn? Your votes, if you please."

Campfire 421743

"Lower property cost. It also lets me see whoever is coming. Can I go ahead and ring this up for you? Only thirtyfive Marks."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 421744

"Well you are comfy."

"Between vampires or rats? Well you guys want to go for the vampires, right?"

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 421745

"Wait a minute, let me take a look at this stuff, first."

Perception on the junk. It IS junk, right? He's in an alley!

Roll #1 3 = 3

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 421746

"There's also the choice of that doctor."

Campfire 421747

The light levels in here are pretty low so you can't see it too well, but it looks okay.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 421748

"Glad you think so. Wouldn't do to have my ranged support goat think I'm uncomfortable."

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 421749

"Okay, but you gotta tell me what's in these pills before I buy anything. I got allergies!"

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 421750

AWIYE '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

Campfire 421751

"Various herbs and other natural ingredients."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 421752

"One 'Dr. Frank Intense.' Yes. Please read the fliers.

"Or do I need to do that for you, as well?"

Campfire 421753

His answer stays the same.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 421754

I'll frown at her.
"I don't carry books around for show, unicorn."
And I'll take a look at the flyer he's talking about.

Campfire 421755

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 421756

"Huh. I dunno if I would have anything to offer there."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 421757

"Wonder why the reward for hunting rats is larger than the one for vampires? Maybe they're unusually large rats?"
I'll consider the doctor's ad.
"I'd need to speak with this doctor Frank before I agree to sell my body to science. Last I need is to wake up sewn together and with bolts stuck in my neck."

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 421758

"Okay… Eh, alright, I'll take a kit. What's could possibly go wrong?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 421759

"Yeah, same here. He might even think we're one!"

Campfire 421760

He swaps the kit for some of your marks.
"I hope to see you again."

Andelia [druid] 421761

"well, the reward is nice enough to go ask about the doctor, Vampire hunting would help us. we want to stop the evil vampires."

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 421762

Alright, go track down the others.

If they're not together, prioritize

1. Brutus
2. Pomelo

He seemed like the nicest of the bunch…

Roll #1 1 = 1

Campfire 421763

They are together. You find in them in the residential district outside two large public bathhouses.

Campfire 421764

Keep talking if you want.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 421765

"Let's try rat hunting. That seems safe and it pays well."

Andelia [druid] 421766

"Alright, but I don't know why you're so worried about money, we can just stay at the nature temple."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 421767

"I gotta admit I'm curious about the reward there."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 421768

"The large reward is rather curious."

Andelia [druid] 421769

"It seems pretty simple to me. City guards are too busy to do it, and the hired blades don't see it as worth their time. This whole culture is rather stuck up, they probably think killing rats is what you buy a pet cat for not something for an intelligent creature."

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 421770

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 421771

"But a reward this large? That's even more than what's offered for hunting vampires? Suspicious at best, unless the number of rats they're dealing with are at plague levels."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 421772

"First thing I thought of. Maybe they're facing an outbreak of some kind."

"Rats and dosh."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 421773

"Business opportunities, Morass. We've three options, but it seems we'll be handling a rat problem first."

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 421774

"Fine by me. I got some vampire killin' stuff but I figure stakes kill rats, too."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 421775

"Their time will come, so I'd hang on to those."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 421776

"They could be vampire rats."

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 421777

"I brought a mirror, too. So I guess we'll be able to check."

Campfire 422328

The sun has nearly reached its peak as the party stands and talks outside the two largest bathhouses in the city. Many ponies, donkeys, ostriches, and others pass all of you as they come and go to and from the bathhouses. Many of the passersby speak with accents unlike the ones in the city, which may explain why the party is getting no hard stares here.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422329

"So, shall we go while we still have some daylight left to us, or wait?"

Andelia 422330

Stare all they want too, long as they don't threaten us. "So, lets see about these rats?"

Campfire 422331

>is not getting hard stares here

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422332

"So what now?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 422333

"I think we're gonna chase some rats!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422334

"I wonder if there are any Pongarian textbooks published in Equestrian."

"Yes, to the address on that flier."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422335

"Then let's not waste what light we have left."
And we'll go.

Andelia 422336

hopefully I can read the address. '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

Pomelo [Preacher] 422337

"Let's go then!"
I head off in that direction

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422338

Onwards to that address!
I start hopping over there.

Roll #1 6 = 6

Campfire 422339

The party heads east towards the cramped temple district. Buildings of all shapes, sizes, and styles occupy the narrow streets here. The party passes tall towers that lean precariously, wide buildings that rise no more and a story high, a wide plaza with a fenced off ruin, small shacks that cover hols in the ground, a building made of thick and dark stone, a forest, and a hoofful of inns. The walk through does not take very long and soon the party passes through a gate in the thick stone wall surrounding the city and into the adventurer's district. The building are made of wood and mostly flimsy, the streets are dirt, the merchants loud, and the smells terrible. The party can see signs offering all manner of things here, including magic that lets foreigners read, speak, and understand the local language. If the party continues east they will eventually arrive at their destination in the farmland.

I'm almost certain I've said this a couple of times before, but the party earned a skillpoint after killing the possessed minotaur. If you have not spent it yet please do so now or tell me that you are hanging onto it. I also need to know if you guys want to reorganize your skills to 1.4.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422340

So is Scholar cool?

Also I have no particularly opinion either way on updating to 1.4

Magic spells for learning language? I want to check that out.

"This could be some sort of scam."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422341

I'm holding onto it. Have all the 1-point Knight skills, not enough for a multiclass.
"It could, or it could be at least a primer for the local language. I don't know about you, but I'd rather know when we're being insulted."

Andelia 422342

I am saving it so I can get read intentions

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422343

Did I spend mine? I forget tbh. If I didn't I'm saving it either way.
I look around for…
party supplies

Pomelo [Preacher] 422344

I need to check out 1.4 first but I'm gonna save my point for now.
"Bleh, this place looks gross…"

Wf+6 422345

How many skill points are we supposed to have? I might use this opportunity to reorganize some points so I'm a little more useful in fights.

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 422346

"I don't know about you, chief, but I'm gettin' insulted just lookin' at these natives."

Andelia [driud] 422347

"I don't think Its worth our time to stop."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422348

I'll shrug.
"As you like, Morass."
"Well, you never know what you might find in these little run-down places."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422349

Also a roll if needed

Roll #1 10 = 10

Campfire 422350

There are several different vendors. Their signs vary from painted one cardboard to actual wood, and everything in between. The prices and quality of each will probably be different.

You see a wandering group of party priests. They'll have what you need.

Campfire 422351

You should have 7 total and 1 to spend right now. They skills I have on your character sheet are AWIYE (2), Compassion (1), Disguise (1), and Escape Artist (2).

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422352

Look over one of the high quality ones. How familiar am I with this type of magic?

Roll #1 6 = 6

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422353

I walk over to them!
"Do you guys have any fireworks?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 422354

I hop on her back and wave at the priests as we approach
"Oh man, fellow priests of the pink cloth! Hiya!"

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422355

"Aiight, as long as you're gonna be wastin' time, I'm gonna stop by the temple for some serious business. Come pick me up when it's time to hunt rats or vampires or what have you."

Go off to the Temple. I haven't even prayed since I got here!

Campfire 422356

It's mind altering magic. So long as the caster knows what he is doing there is very little chance of any permanent brain damage.

The goat leading the ground winks at you.
"Only for a good buffalo who promises not to set them off where they might set a bunch of stuff on fire."

They greet you with the super-ultra-not-really-very-secret greeting that all priests and priestesses of Pinkie Pie know: a mixture of hoofshake, hoofbumps, pats on the back, and friendly hugs.

You wander back to the temple district. There are more temples here than there are buildings in some villages. You will need to be specific about what temple you are visiting.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422357

I'll just browse the stalls. Any books on learning the local lingo? '1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422358

Speak to the shopkeep wizard.
"What are your qualifications to be using this sort of magic? I want to see a degree from an accredited institution of magic."

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422359

Come on, obviously I want to go to Celestia's temple.

But if there are multiple, maybe go for the most humble looking one. I don't like hanging around fancy Inquisitors.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422360

"Oh please! I'm like, the super saftiest buffalo around! I Pinkie Promise you that one!"
I even do the motions too for a Pinkie Promise.

Pomelo [Preacher] 422361

"Don't worry, Bessy's the best behaving buffalo there is! She wouldn't never ever ever set anything on fire that didn't wanna be on fire!"

Andelia [driud] 422362

I don't really want to be here, this is a tourist trap.

Campfire 422363

There are plenty of books that offer to teach how to speak the local language. There are lots of old textbook volumes for a reasonable price, and a few books that offer to teach the language in as little as a week. These are, understandably, expensive.

The unicorn looks and smells like a peasant, but speaks with a high class Canterlot accent.
"Don't have one, but I've been doing this for about six months now and nopony has killed me for melting their friend's brain. You know how some jobs require a university degree or life experience? I've got the second one."

You look and look and look, but there is no temple dedicated to Celestia. There are plenty of temples dedicated to the sun, however. The biggest, most impressive one is on the east side of a large plaza with a fenced off ruin in the center. The doors stand wide open and from inside shines a light as bright as the midday sun. Above the entrance is a large sun made from goold leaf to catch and reflect the morning sun. The top of its tallest tower is lined with golden leaf and reflects the sun's rays no matter where it sits in the sky. There are many temples of the sun scattered throughout the city. Each of these are dedicated to different aspects of the sun like warmth, fire, light, growth, punishment, the summer, and many that don't make much sense.

"Well, a word and a Pinkie Promise are good enough for us. Show 'em the fireworks, guys!"
A zebra steps into an alleyway and takes off his saddlebags. After loosening the straps holdding the bags shut he jumps back as all sorts of fireworks come bursting out.
"Take whatever you want! Remember, Pinkie Pie loves you when you're having fun!"

No, that would be the bar over there called "The Tourist Trap". It is quite empty.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422364

I'll get the first two volumes of the reasonably-priced language texts. I can read them while we camp.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422365

"I hope you understand, but my brain is important to me. I'm not having anyone but an accomplished neuromancer go rummaging through there. You'd probably track some of that smell into it.

"So what about books? Pongarian primers and textbooks? How much would they cost?"

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422366

Okay, but I explicitly said I wanted the least impressive one. Go into it and find a nice spot to pray.

Yo, are ya there Celestia? It's me, Muddy Morass. You keepin' track of my good deeds down here? Wha-bam! Punched some ghosts. Wha-pow! Resisting temptation to steal. I'm like a freakin' saint of your holy word or somethin'.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422367

I take a bunch of roman candles and sparklers and cherry bombs and smoke bombs!
I then suddenly go shifty eyed.
"Do you… Do you… Have any…"
I look around again.

Andelia [driud] 422368

Well, in any case I don't have any money, so I'm just waiting for the others to get done.

Pomelo [Preacher] 422369

I hop and clap at the fireworks, then wipe a tear form my eye.
"It's so pretty… you're doin' the Ponk's work, fellas!"

Campfire 422370

You reach for your money, but only come up with some of the old coins in the mansion.

"Of course, of course. I've can send you to ponies with foal's books, textbooks, Learning Sighorsoarian for Dorks, books that can teach you in a week, and magic books that can pronounce the words written in 'em. Tell me how much you got and I'll say what you can afford."

You go into a shanty without a roof. It lets the sun shine right in, but you've got the feeling that they couldn't afford the roof.
Roll for your prayer.
Are you on the same computer that you are logging into Steam on?

An earth pony goes shifty eyed as well and leans over to your ear, somehow craning his neck up a foot or two so he can reach.
"What sort of pie?"

You wait.

One of them laughs and claps you on the back.
"We sure are! Hey, are you the drinking kind? Are you even old enough?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422371

Roll #1 6 = 6

Pomelo [Preacher] 422372

"Am I! …Am I?"
I take a second to think
"Well, yeah! I drink all the time. Root beer, cream soda, strawberry milk, oh oh banana milkshakes too!"
I drool a little.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422373

Roll #1 10 = 10

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422374

"100 marks. And this ring."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422375

I maneuver myself to balancing on just one hoof, leaning in so that I'm whisper in his ear.
"High capacity assault pies."

Campfire 422376

You notice his eyes go wide for a second when he sees your old coins.
"Hmmm. That's not enough, but I've got a feeling you need the books more than I need the money."
He reaches out to take your coins.

He pulls and banana milkshake out from behind his ear and gives it to you.
"I meant the harder stuff, but that's fine. We're here to help everyone have fun, and that is what were are going to do!"
He pulls out some purple, fizzing drink and downs it.

Hello, Muddy. What can i do for you?

He looks that the ring closely. Roll.
"Mmmm, it would make a good finders fee. For 100 marks you could get one of those talking books. 80 for the week books, 65 for the Doorks book, 50 for the textbooks, and 10 for the foal's books."

He leans back and balances on his tail.
"Do you have a license?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422377

I'll hold them back.
"Not so fast, shopkeep. Your reaction belies the truth."
I'll put all but one of the coins back in my coin purse, and then hold up the one I've got left.
"Now, are you going to tell me the proper value of these, or do I take my business to an honest merchant?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 422378

I shift my eyes left and right
"Oh! You mean… coffee! Nah, I'm tryin' to quit the stuff, thanks though."
I sit on top of Bessy and drink my shake.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422379

Roll #1 10 = 10

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422381

Innit supposed to be the other way around? I'm supposed to do stuff for you, right? You don't like ghosts, right? I beat up some ghosts. I dunno, this shopkeeper said you don't like vampires either, but I think he might have had an agenda or somethin'. Anyway I figured I'd ask for guidance or somethin'. I kinda lost track of what I was doin' here, I guess? Maybe I shoulda read that card better before I showed up.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422382

Wait I got this
I produce my special PSL (Party Supply License)
Done in only the finest crayon and bearing only the shiniest of holographic smiley face stickers.

Campfire 422383

He scowls.
"Fine, fine. Give me four of those and you've got your books."

"You're a stronger goat that I, little one."

It's one hell of a finders fee. you pet you could get a least a hundred marks for them from a collector of antiques.

I am glad you put those souls to rest. I am feeling generous. If it is guidance you want then ask me a question and I shall answer it as best i can. Perhaps about the shopkeeper with an agenda?

He pulls you deeper into the alleyway where a bear with an overcoat is wearing. The bear opens the coat and inside are all manner of pie fit to be thrown by hoof or fired from a party cannon.
"Now, we are going to have to ask for money for these. Not much, but these are harder to make than balloons and streamers."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422384

And I'll fish him out three more coins, and take my books.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422385

Hm. Keep the ring.

"Give me the book with the talking pronunciation guide. That would prepare me in a week?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 422386

I'm up, I'm up!

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422387

"Just getting a few books on learning the local language. Here, find a spot for them."
And I'll pass them up to her.

Andelia [driud] 422388

I wonder if the others are doing okay? Go check on Dreamkicker. "Hey, you finding everything you need? We shouldn't waster all our time here.."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 422389

Take them up and look at the covers. What are the titles?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422390

"How much for each one?"
I marvel at all the pies available for sale.

Pomelo [Preacher] 422391

"W-Wow! A bear bearing ballistic pies… neato!"
I look the bear up and down, then lightly nibble on his coat.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422392

Should I trust these guys? They seem kinda shady. I dunno if this equipment is good, and whether or not is something you'd want me to do.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422393

"Pommyyyy! It's impolite to nibble on a bear's coat!"
I pull him away.

Campfire 422394

You give him three of the coins. You have two left.
These books can be read once a session with a roll of a d10.

He nods and leads you to an earth pony selling books. they exchange words and the earth pony hands you a book.
"100 marks."

The party stopped in the adventurer's district on their way to the farmland outside of the city.

"Speaking Sighorsoarian Year 1" and "Speaking Sighorsoarian Year 2"

"Five marks per pie."
The pony has also donned a trench coat. His collar is turned up to hide his face.

The shopkeeper and his employees are all vampires and everything he sells is designed to endanger the purchaser. They are connected to the vampires that are plaguing this city.
Her voice goes faint for a moment.
I have other prayers to attend to. I hope what I have told you is satisfactory.

The bear gently scratches your ears with a claw.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422395

"Anything you're interested in, Little one?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 422396

Sniff them a bit and throw them in a fuzz pocket.

"You think we're gonna be here a while?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422397

"I'll take ten!"
I hoof over my hard earned marks.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422398

Aiight. Thanks for your help. I'll tell the others.

Go regroup with the group.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422399

"Likely no, but did you want anything while we were?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 422400

"Nah, I'm not really that hungry yet."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422401

"Then we're just waiting on the others.

Pomelo [Preacher] 422402

"Aw fiiiine."

Campfire 422403

He gives you the pies.
"These will add a little unf to your cannon blasts."
His smile disappears and a grim look replaces it.
"Don't eat these. These are made to keep you and others safe, not for having fun."
He scratches his chin with his hoof.
"Well, I guess they would be fun if you used them for target practice. Or hunting. Yeah, they can be fun."

You are back with the others now.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422404

"I'm gonna be using them to teach a buncha meanies a lesson! Thanks for the pies!"
I smile and give him a hoofbump, then hop away.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422405

Take the books. Rejoin Pommy and Bessy.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 422406

"Where'd they all go?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422407

I'll gesture towards the others.
"That way, I suppose. Might as well join them."
And I'll rejoin DK, Pomelo, and Bessy.

Andelia [druid] 422408

"Shopping. "

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422409

"Yo, I went to the temple and chatted with the Big C. She says there are a bunch of shopkeep vampires selling gear to get customers in hot water. I guess that includes my starter kit, too. They're apparently linked to the other vamps, too."

Andelia [druid] 422410

I look alarmed. "Well, its a good thing I didn't buy from them."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422411

"That's distressing. Are you certain?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422412

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422413

"Pretty sure Celestia knows what she's talkin' about."

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422414

Direct that at >>422412
as well

Campfire 422415

You take the magic talking book and he takes 100 of your marks. You now have 100 left.
You book is read with a d10+2. You can read it once a session.

You books can be read once a session with a d10.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422416

I frown.
"That's not right at all!"

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422417

"Oh! Right! You guys are good with magic, right? Maybe you can take a look at the gear for yourself and confirm it."

Show them the starter kit I bought.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 422418

"Yeah, she usually knows what's up. How'd you get to talk to her anyway?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422419

"The Sun Princess was here?"
I'll raise an eyebrow.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422420

"Whaddya mean? I just went to the shantiest temple in the city – the one without a roof, and prayed."

Andelia [druid] 422421

"Everyone please check over the things you bought. " '1d10+1' to help them check for evil enchaments

Roll #1 7 + 1 = 8

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422422

I'll take another look at my stuff, too. '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422423

"Ah. Well, that explains everything."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422424

Roll #1 10 = 10

"Huh. Never thought of that before…"

Roll #1 2 = 2

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422426

see'ems on the starter kit I guess

Roll #1 1 + 2 = 3

Campfire 422427

All of your stuff is fine.

Everything you bought looks fine, even the started kit stuff. Maybe you aren't looking hard enough.

Nope. They are lethal assault pies.

All of your stuff looks good.

Everything in the kit, with the exception of the pills, is very low quality merchandise that will break easily. The only exception to this are several pills which contain, as hard as it is to believe, a vaccine against vampirism. That Pegasus probably got sunstroke and imagined talking with Celestia.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422428

"You idiot, this kit is a piece of crap. Forunately those pills there contain some sort of vaccine for vampirism. Best keep those on us at all times."

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422429

Maybe not. Look closer. Look closelier. Now, look more closelier. '1d10'

Frown. "Hey, chief, I think Celestia knows what she's talkin' about."

Roll #1 7 = 7

Andelia [druid] 422430

"Really?…" '1d10+1' to check the kit

Roll #1 4 + 1 = 5

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422431

"Why would the PRINCESS want to talk to YOU? You probably talked to some insane hedge wizard in the Everfree forest and got confused."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 422432

Well it's a good thing I didn't buy anything then. They're out to get me!

"Well have you ever talked to a princess, brainiac?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422433

"I did not believe there was such a thing as a vampirism vaccine."
"Why not go pray for yourself, unicorn? You couldn't possibly be jealous of Morass, could you?"

Campfire 422434

Everything inside the kit looks good, which is suspicious considering what Celestia told you. The pills are filled with a thick, bright red substance.

It's got all the basics a vampires hunter might need, plus some little pills full of a red liquid.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422435

"Uhh, because I'm world-famous reformed master thief Muddy Morass, duh. Hey, you better at least take another look at it, aiight?"

AWIYE '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

Campfire 422436

Resolve that amongst yourselves.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422437

"No. The Princess doesn't just talk to anypony, goat."

Andelia [driud] 422438

"Looks fine too me."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 422439

"She seems like a nice mare to me."

"You think?"

Andelia [driud] 422440

"Yeah, I don't see anything wrong with it."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422441

"Well, have you ever tried praying to her? She might be more receptive to humility."
"The red pills seem rather suspect, personally. But I will defer to your judgement."

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422442

"Don't you guys have some vampire friends? Those two that threw the party, right? I think I'm gonna go ask them what they make of it."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422443

"I don't pray to the princess like some yokel."

Andelia [driud] 422444

"Fine, but we should get moving to the rat thing now."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422445

"Then I suppose that's why she doesn't talk to you."
"They do, yes. But that might have to wait until after we take care of the rat problem."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 422446

"Probably, yeah. When it comes to vampires, I don't really trust red stuff."

"Good idea. Last thing we need are vampire rats."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422447

Let's go!

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422448

Let's goooo already!

Campfire 422449

The party takes their things and leave the noise, crowding, and stink of the adventure's district behind them. Before long the torn up road become a wide dirt road marred by old cart tracks. A wooden slat fence runs on either side of the road separating all travelers from the corn, grains, and other vegetables being grown in the fields. After a little over half an hour of walking the party sees a small collection of houses and a few other buildings further down the road.

Bessy, Pomelo, and Dreamkicker
You all recognize this place. The three of you stopped at the inn here for lunch when coming to the city.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422450

"I remember this place. It stank of dirt and rotting vegetables.

"I suppose the rat infestation is fitting."

Pomelo [Preacher] 422451

"Wait, is this where the rats are? I don't remember seein any rats when we came by before."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422452

"Perhaps they were hidden, or at least not mentioned the last time you were here."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422453

"This is where the rats are?"

"But we didn't see any at all!"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 422454

"Yeah, rats tend to do that. At least until they start stealing all your stuff."

Pomelo [Preacher] 422455

I tilt my head
"Steal my stuff? Like my new neat hat, a-and my new slingshot and my poncho and my Dreamkicker and my Bessy?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422456

"Usually food, or small bits of cloth for a nest. So they might take parts of your hat, but not the whole thing at once.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 422457

"I dunno…enough rats and they'd probably use the whole thing to sleep in."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422458

"They probably can't steal Bessy. Not unless the rats are the size of ponies."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422459

"Even then I don't think they could steal me!"

Pomelo [Preacher] 422460

I pull my hat down tighter
"Then let's beat em up before they get a chance!"

Roll #1 2 = 2

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422461

"Follow me, doc."

Look for rats. '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422462

"But how would it fit in their nest? Suppose they could build around it…"
"Perhaps we should look for the pony who put out the call for help, first?"

Campfire 422463

Neither of you see any rats. There aren't any ponies around either.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 422464

"They're rats, it would be their nest!"

"…shouldn't this place be full?"

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422465

"Probably livin' the houses. Or underground."

Pomelo [Preacher] 422466

"So… do we start diggin'?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 422467

"Well that's no place to live. I would know!"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422468

"Well, if there was a public call for ratcatchers, then I don't think there'd be many customers, little one."
"Perhaps the owner is around?"
I'll head towards the front of the building, and open the door.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422469

Follow him.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422470

I follow him and look around for the owner too!

Campfire 422471

The three of you open the door to the largest building, which has a sign with a picture of a corn cob on a pillow hanging over the door. The innkeeper, a fat earth pony stallion, looks up at you three.
"Hello there. Looking for beds and a meal?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422472

Start scanning around for ponies.

Roll #1 1 + 2 = 3

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422473

"We're here about the rat problem!"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422474

"Actually, we're responding to the call for rat hunting."

Campfire 422475

You go blind and fall over.

He looks confused.
"Rat problem?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 422476

I grab his head and aim it at where Bessy and the others went.
"I think they're on the right trail Dreamy."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 422477

"Agh! My eyes!"
try to stand up and regain my vision

Roll #1 10 = 10

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 422478

"In the flyer here."
I'll produce the flyer.
"Didn't you put the ad out?"

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 422479

"Hey, tough guy, you alright, lemme give you a hoof."

Campfire 422480

Your vision is back, good as new.

He walks out from behind the counter and looks at it.
"Oh. That. No, that's not for rat hunting. Talk to he pony in charge of the farmers about that. He'll be coming in for lunch soon."

Dreamkicker is bolstered.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 422481

"Not for rat hunting? What is it for then?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 422482

"Wait, huh? Who would just lie on a flyer like that?"

Campfire 422483

"Monsters. Listen, I'm not supposed to say much. Big Plow is the one responsible for hiring adventurers."

Campfire 426111

The party is inside an inn outside the city. The innkeeper has given you all large glasses of cool water to drink. Outside of the inns are several houses lived in by farmer ponies, and beyond them are the fields the farmer ponies farm. The party has been waiting for a few minutes when a loud group of large earth ponies enter the inn. They stop talking and laughing as soon as they see all of you. The largest of them, a brown coated and tan maned stallion, speaks.
"Are all of you here for the job?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426115

"Yes. Now what's this about 'monsters?'"

Andelia [druid] 426118

Bessy [Soothsayer] 426119

I nod.
"Yeah! What's the job about?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426121

"If you're the one who put out the ad for the rats, we're your hunters."

Pomelo [Preacher] 426122

"Yeah! We're chasing some rats around, right?"

Campfire 426127

"There are monsters that live out in a cave in the forest to the northeast of here. They come out at night sometimes and kill livestock and farmers, sometimes even breaking into houses to get at the ponies inside. Normal weapons don't hurt 'em, or else we'd have killed them all already. We're sick and tired of buying new animals and burying dead friends, so we put together most all our money to make a reward."

"Rats? Where'd you get the idea that we have a rat problem?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426128

"If it really is rats…"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 426130

I frown.
"Those sound like great big meanies! We'll take care of them alright!"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426131

"I knew it!"

Pomelo [Preacher] 426134

I shrug
"Rat, big mean monsters, same thing. Now where are they so we can beat 'em up?"

Andelia [druid] 426135

I frown at dreamkicker "I guess someone misread the flier, but no problem, we can bust these ghosts for you."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426137

"It did say 'rats' on the flyers. But if they're a bit bigger and meaner, well, that's no skin off my snout."

Campfire 426139

"Good, good. Can I see all of your weapons? I don't want to send you all out without the right weapons."

"I told you already. They're in a cave in the forest to the northeast of here."

"Hah! I wish they were ghosts."

"I wrote the flyer and I'm pretty sure it doesn't."

He moves forwards, intending to check your weapons.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426140

Show him my crossbow and dagger.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426142

Do the same.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426143

Hold up my shield. The greatsword can be a surprise later, because precautions are fun.

Pomelo [Preacher] 426144

I dangle my slingshot in my mouth.

Andelia [druid] 426152

I show him the boomerang and mace. "If they aren't ghosts what are they?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426154

"It said "pest" problem. Monsters do seem to stretch the definition a bit."

Campfire 426158

He looks at all of your weapons and frowns.
"No, these won't work. The look like the might be a little bit magical, but whatever the enchantment is it isn't enough. Aren't you adventurer's supposed to have bunches of mag weapons that catch fire or shoot lightning or are made out of silver or other magic metals?"

"Bloodthirsty monster, like I said."
He shakes his head when he sees your boomerang, but nods when he sees your mace and spear.
"There. Those are adventurer weapons. Those should kill them just fine."

"We've already two bands of wanna be heroes walk off the job and badmouth of in the adventurer's district. I had to change the wording to get responses, and the reward is more than enough to make up for it."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426162

"I'm an academic, not an armory."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426164

"How would you know they're insufficient if we haven't tried them yet? They can hit ghosts, at least, so your pests shouldn't be that much harder to pin down."

Pomelo [Preacher] 426166

"Uh… I could shoot magic metals at bad guys. I could also shoot normal rocks and say they're magical if that helps any…"

Andelia [druid] 426167

I light up in realization "Oh, Vampires, Well, I understand now. "

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426169

"Awww, what? We just got these things…"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 426171

"But these worked just fine against ghosts, what could those monsters be that they wo-"

"Oooooh. Vampires…"
I scrunch my face up as I think.
"Uh… do you have any silverware mister?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426173

"Even my nonmagical shield worked pretty well against vampires. It took a bit more work, but the heads come off just the same."

Andelia [druid] 426174

"I'm surprised you don't have any silver after our last adventure."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426175

Much of our luggage was lost… or eaten… on the way here, I'm afraid."

Pomelo [Preacher] 426177

I burp then smile.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426178

"Didn't you need that stuff?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 426179

"Naaaah, probably not!"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426181

"Huh. Living out of a sack? …that's what I do!"

Pomelo [Preacher] 426183

"We still have pleeeenty of stuff. A little nibble or three isn't much."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426187

"I always thought it was more fun to scrounge."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426188

"I personally believe in preparing ahead of time."

Andelia [druid] 426190

"Well, that's a good practice, but if you knew there were vampires around.. you should have prepared some silver weapons."

Campfire 426192

"I don't know what the word means, but I hope it means adventurer."

"Ghost hitting enchantments aren't the same as flesh-and-blood killing enchantments. We learned our fair share about them when we had to chace thee ghosts out of the old Cottar place."

"You know killing magic? Good, that will work."

The ponies laugh.
"No, vampires are the one thing we don't need to worry about out here. We don't have silverware, miss buffalo. A thief stole every last piece of silver in our little town."

He speaks to everyone.
"If you don't have weapons made out of a magic metal like silver, and don't know any killing magic, there a re a few mages in the Adventure's district that can increase the oomf of your weapons. If you need money for the enchantments I can give you a forward on your payment so long as you leave some collateral."

Pomelo [Preacher] 426194

"Aw. How much do ya think those cost?"
How much do I have again?

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426195

"I wasn't expecting them, really."
I'll frown slightly.
"It would seem we don't have much choice in the matter…"
Fishing out the old book of poems, I'll hoof it over.
"Be very careful with this, please."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426197

"Awww foof. How much is it?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 426198

Never mind, 160!

Bessy [Soothsayer] 426200

"How much is it all gonna cost? And what's it gonna do?"

Andelia [druid] 426201

"Uh, right.. so these monsters need to be killed with silver, or magic, and they suck blood.. but they aren't vampires because that's impossible in your town?" I sigh "Right.. well, at least I don't have to buy anything.."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426203

"If you keep having difficulties in getting adventurers to come out here and solve your problems, perhaps you should give us the money to get the enchantments."

Campfire 426206

"About forty marks for the simple ones. I think the mage's sale line was "It can make a stick as dangerous as a sword".

He looks at it.
"A book is collateral for forty marks? No, leave something valuable, like your shield."

He facehoofs and grumbles something.
"No. No they don't suck blood."

He groans audibly.
"Is it my accent? I said I can loan you the money if you leave collateral."

If you bought books, remember that you can read them once a session.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426210

"A loan isn't the same thing as giving us the money. One requires us to pay back the money or it's debited from our eventual payment. The other is free money.

"Do I need to explain it to you in apples and dirt or whatever it is you barter with around here?"

Uh, read my books when I get the chance.

Roll #1 2 = 2 / Roll #2 6, 6 = 12

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426212

"Hey big guy, you got anything else up here?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426213

"My shield is my weapon. And that book holds great sentimental value to me. Not to mention it being an antique."

Pomelo [Preacher] 426214

I pat him on the side.
"Dreamy, don't we already have enough for those? Maybe we shouldn't demand free stuff from him before we do anything…"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426215

I'll think a moment.
"There's the other shield, I suppose. The one with an eagle on it."

"Really? It's awfully cozy…"
What else can I find up here?

Roll #1 2 = 2

Campfire 426220

"It's not a loan, stickhead. I can give you some of your reward early, but you need to leave something of yours here so I know you won't disappear with the money."
You crack open your books and start to read about magic and the local language. You make some good headway in each of them.

"That works."

A soggy doggy bag full off ruined pancakes.

Andelia [druid] 426222

"What If I stay here and wait for them to get their gear enchanted, would that work?"

Huh. That might go good with a songbook…
Page through what books I can find.

Roll #1 1 = 1

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426228

"Then don't call it a loan. But what you have described is a loan, given that we will be spending money that will be ours on something we would not otherwise have spent it upon."

"No. It's the principle of the thing."

Andelia [druid] 426229

'1d10' read intentions on this guy to be sure.

Roll #1 5 = 5

Bessy [Soothsayer] 426230

I scratch my head.
"…Why can't we just go get the enchantment thingies now?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426232

"Wouldn't you need something as well?"
I'll whisper up to Happyhorn.
"Do you suppose they're starting to make this more difficult than it should be?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426233

"Prolly. I doubt these guys have much to offer us in the first place…I'm starting to wonder if they can even pony up the reward."
I giggle.

Campfire 426234

They look at each other.
"That works. If you guys don't come back for your friend we, uh, keep her or something?"

You find a picture filled magazine entitled Buffalo Girls: Watch Them Come Out Tonight. Someone must have stuck it in Brutus's hair as a joke.

"Whatever. You friend offered a solution if you want to take it."

They want those monsters dead.

"If you have enough money we aren't stopping you."

Pomelo [Preacher] 426237

"Well, we can! I think"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426238

I still have something like 2 or so of those ancient coins, correct?
"In that case, we'll be back presently."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426239

"Huh. Hey, this yours?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426242

Stay here and try to teach them why having us spend our own money on enchantments is not some sort of favor.

Roll #1 4 = 4

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426243

"Is what mine?"

Andelia [druid] 426244

I nod "Right, I'll see you soon." sit down and drink some of that water they offered earlier.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426246

I take a bite of the magazine.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426248

"No, now I'm curious. What did you find up there?"

Bessy 426249

"Psst. Do you wandna just go get those enchantments now?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 426251

"Kinda… otherwise we're gonna be here til the sun sets."
I scrunch my nose and hop on her back

Campfire 426254

"Alright. We'll be waiting. Your friend can go if none of your are getting lended money."

He shacks his head.
"The favor is us giving you your money before you earned so you get a chance to earn it."

"If we aren't giving them money you can go with them."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426255

Dangle it in front of his face.

Bessy 426259

"Let's go then!"
And off we depart to find the… enchantment-y place!

Roll #1 5 = 5

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426260

"Exactly. And given your stated inability to get adventurers to come out here – indeed, they go back to the city and 'badmouth' your job rather than perform the deed – you should be a bit more forthcoming in your reimbursement for expenses."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426262

I'll blink once or thrice.
"No. No that is not mine."
I'll glance at Pomelo, and then shake my head.
"No, that's silly. He would think it covered in girl germs. It must have been those twins."
Well, since I don't know the proper exchange rate for them, I'll take the advance, if Andy's staying here.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426265

"If you say so~"
Pull it back up.
"So we gonna go off after the two-pack or sit here and listen to brainiac give another lecture?"

Andelia [druid] 426268

"Okay, I'll try to hurry them along, which way to the enchanter's?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426269

"We will make as much haste as I am able. That unicorn is filled with more hot air than the entirety of the Canterlot air fleet."
And back to the Adventurers' district we go… with a quick stop at an antique shop, if we can find one. '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

Campfire 426274

Pomelo, Bessy, and the rest of the party? leave and return to the adventurer's district. Before long everyone who went is able to find Mage Alley, a street full of mages selling their magical wares. After a bit of talking you are able to determine that the enchantment the farmer was talking about will charge an object with enough magic to cause physical damage to a flesh-and-blood creature, even if the weapon normally could not hurt it. The more expensive enchantments allow the weapon to boost the damage of a weapon, give it temporary elemental damage, or even disguise what the weapon looks like.

He just gives you a dirty look.

"Go past the purple inn, turn left at the open sewer, turn right at the burned down hatshop, then follow the smell of magic."

You find one. It doesn't look like it has much money, but you feel that they will buy the coins for a fair price.

zulu 426276

Go back to reading.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426277

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426279

I'll stop in.
"Hello? I'd like to get something appraised."

Andelia [druid] 426283

I do want to go with to the magic alley, and find a decent looking enchanter for the others. '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

Bessy [Soothsayer] 426284

"Do you think this is the place Pommy?"

Campfire 426286

You start skimming through your two books, but the farmers have gotten under your skin and you cannot concentrate.
I'll let you read the books a few times in a row next time Dreamkicker visits a library so you can catch up on the missed opportunities. Dreamkickeer does have the book about vampires though. You can roll for that as much as you want so long as you give me an idea of what you are looking for.

An old donkey looks up from behind the counter.
""What is it, sonny? Give it here so I can see it."
He speaks with a whistle.

There are so many enchanters, and none of them look like what you would call decent.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426288

I'll take out one of my remaining ancient coins.
"This coin is quite old, and I was wondering if I could get an accurate, and honest, appraisal for it."

Pomelo [Preacher] 426289

"I think so, Bessy! Let's get to spendin'!"
Go to whichever mage is can enchant our weapons to damage monsters.

Andelia [druid] 426290

Well.. maybe there is one that seems trustworthy? '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426291

Well I did roll above. I just didn't know if you noticed or not.

Look through the vampire books about ways to detect them.

Roll #1 4 = 4

Bessy [Soothsayer] 426294

And I follow!

Campfire 426296

He squints at it then bites it before dropping it on the counter.
"Twenty marks each."

You spin around in place and pick the one with a horn enchanted to flash different colors, Bessy following along. He offers you the basic spell for forty marks.

Not really. You are glad you are here with your friends. This place is pretty shady in a wizardy sort of way.

And I already responded to your reading roll.
"A vampire can be detected by its fangs, thirst for blood, fear of the sun, pale coat, drawn looking face, and dislike of garlic."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426297

"For coins that haven't been seen for centuries? I may not know much about coin collecting, but it seems to me that's a rather small amount for a coin so old."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426299

"They might just not be that rare."

Pomelo [Preacher] 426301

I hold my slingshot up to him along with 40 marks.
"Lay it on me!"

Andelia [druid] 426302

Yeah, its a good thing.. If I'm near brutus read intentions on the sales clerk. '1d10' "Maybe they are just common coins?"

Roll #1 7 = 7

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426303

"Maybe. But still, you saw how that other merchant practically stumbled head over hooves trying to cheat me out of them earlier."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 426304

I drop my cannon and my sling, and 80 marks.
"Me too!"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426305

"Well then some pony needs to get their story straight, huh?"

Andelia [druid] 426306

"Well, these are enchanters, not bankers, they might not know the true value."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426307

We're in a different shop.

Andelia [druid] 426308

…oh.. well I'll just keep looking for a reputable shop. Someone with a friendly face, and all that. '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

Campfire 426309

"Grave robbery means old coins show up on the market all the time. Sad but true. 'S why I'm getting cremated."

"Everyone here is as greedy as a goat in a tin can factory. I'm too old to care about separating rubes from their money."

His horn lights up with a rainbow of light and blasts your weapons so hard it kn knocks him over.
"Bam! Weapons enchanted! You could shoot apart a werturtle with those things now!"

He wants to look and act as impressive as possible to draw in customers, but won't cheat them.

You see a dirty unicorn with a kind face and a Manehatten University diploma sitting on his little cart from which he sells spells and earns money for his earnest enchantments..

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426310

Where do Vampires like to live? Besides Crypts.

Roll #1 6 = 6

Bessy [Soothsayer] 426312

I gasp and giggle at the show of his magic.
"…What's a werturtle?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426314

I'll nod a little sadly.
"That is unfortunate. Here you are, then. Two coins for forty marks."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426315

"You sure about this? We don't even know if that old fart was right about what we'll be hunting."

Pomelo [Preacher] 426317

I clap at his display

"I think it's a turtle that's not a turtle anymore, but were one. So it's like, an ancient dead turtle or something!"

Andelia [druid] 426318

"Hello there, " I give him a hoof shake. "Do you have any enchants that let you effect undead?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426319

"Better safe than sorry, I suppose. Besides…"
I'll think a moment, then look to the shopkeep.
"You wouldn't happen to know any enchanters that charge a fair price for good enchantments, do you? Or at least any you'd recommend?"

Campfire 426321

"Aside from family or empty crypts, vampires enjoy living in places that offer concealment or demand respect. Dark caves, sewers, old castles and fortresses, old mansions, and dungeons of various sorts. Freshly turned vampires will sometimes attempt to continue living in their own homes."

"A pony that turns into a giant, angry turtle when the moon is full! Strong jaws, a shell as hard as rock they cad hide instead, and they don't make any sound at all! Why, I seen one once! True story!"

You exchange your coins for forty marks.
"Pleasure. If you know anyone else with old things send em my way."

He bows and shoots a hoofkerchief out of his horn.

He shakes your hoof with a firm grip.
"Sixty marks for an improvement over the basic spell that will let you hurt zombies, vampires, and other undead too."

"What manner ah beastie you two going after?"

"All the mages in Mage Alley offer the same prices. It's illeagle, but any guard that goes to arrest them forgets why he went there."
Be blows out, causing his beard to flomf around.
"Mages, can't trust 'em."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426322

Best way to kill vampires?

What's a good way to lure vampires?

Roll #1 4 = 4 / Roll #2 7 = 7

Bessy [Soothsayer] 426323

I clap again at the display.
"Hey mister mage, what other kinds of enchantments can you do?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426324

"We don't really know. The old innkeeper was annoyingly vague with the details."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426325

"Unfortunately, it seems we'll have to. Thank you for your help, and I'll keep you in mind if we happen to find any other old oddities or valuables."
"Not to mention the farmers who put the ad out for their pest problem. Maybe if we hit up the previous adventuring groups that they hired, we'd get a better idea of what we're up against."

Andelia [druid] 426326

"Oh, then you're just the thing we need. I'll be right back"
Go find the others so I can tell them about this guy. '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426327

"Yeah, provided they didn't skip town after being told they'd have to pay out of their own pocket to do the job they signed up for…"

Campfire 426328

"At this time the ways to best kill a vampire are still being researched. The current practice is to cut off all their limbs, salt the wounds, and burn each piece in a separate fire. Staking is an unreliable method at the best of times, but will at the very least slow down a vampire."

"A good lure for vampires is the smell of a bleeding, scared individual. This will draw them in nearly every time, but one must be aware that all but the most foolish vampires will check for ambushes and, if possible, ambush the would be ambushers. A vampire from a different bloodline can also attract vampires. If you have captured one, or have been turned but continue to fight, this is a viable option."

"All sorts of things!"
He suddenly turns bright yellow.
"I can make things change color!"
Drums boom.
"Make noises!"
A clump of mud lifts off the street and hits a vendor on the other side of the road.
"And throw things at unicorns who keep making faces at me even though I tell them to stop!"

"Greatful. Stay safe out there."

You don't need to roll for that.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426329

And then we're out on the street again. To the Adventurers' district. And we'll see if we can't find the previous applicants to the Farm Pest Control Job. '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426330

Will holy symbols protect us? What are good defenses against vampires?

Roll #1 8 = 8

Andelia [druid] 426331

Well, I guess I'll grab Bessy and Pomelo?
"Hey, I think you should check out this guys' stand."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 426333

I gasp in amazement at the wonderful show, and giggle at the joke at the end.
Then I scrunch my face.
"Hey Pommy… DK's taking an awfully long time… should we go back and get him?"

"Oh hi Andy! Huh? What guy's stand?"

Andelia [druid] 426335

"I think I found a good enchanter, I'll show you to him, he seems like an honest pony."

Pomelo [Preacher] 426336

"Yeah… I'm starting to miss him. Also I'm worried he's insultin' us out of a job."
I also scrunch and hop on her back.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 426337

"Oh. We already got ours Andy, sorry… we're gonna go get DK though! Be right back!"

And with that I hop back to the inn.
"Hey DK! What's takin' ya so long?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426338

"I am waiting here. Those were the terms of the loan. I'm the collateral."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 426339

"…What loan?"

Andelia [druid] 426340

"Right, I'll go look for Brutus then." and I went to find the buffalo. if you need a roll for that '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426341

"…don't even talk to me right now."

Campfire 426342

No luck. There are hundreds of adventures in the district, and much more in the city. On top of that you have no idea what the adventurers your are looking for look like.

"A holy symbol is most effective if the wielder is a worshiper of the represented diety. Effectiveness can increase if the vampire was a follow of that deity before it became a vampire. The size of a deity's following can affect the power of the symbol."

"We never gave ya any money."

You find him near Mage Alley.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 426343

I scratch my head.
"What'd I miss?…"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426345

I scratch his head too.

Pomelo [Preacher] 426346

I shrug.
"I dunno. Maybe it's some sorta whoever talks first loses kind of game?"

I… scratch her head
"Is this a game too?"

Andelia [druid] 426347

"Hey, Brutus, did you get enchants?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426348

"It could be!"

Campfire 426349

"He sat there readin' his book and stayed quiet."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426350

"Are we all here? Where do we need to go to do this job, peasants?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426351

"Not yet. Was looking to find out what we were up against first, but I've had no luck finding the previous adventurers the farmers mentioned."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 426352

"Nah, we had to stop by the pawn shop first."

Andelia [druid] 426353

"Well, I scouted out a guy that looks trust worthy. I'll show you to his booth since you still need an enchant."

Pomelo [Preacher] 426355

"Stayed quiet? …Oh!"
I give a sigh of relief.

Campfire 426356

"I think that big buffalo, the goat, and the mare are still missing."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426357

"Lead the way, then."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426358

"Urgh. Stupid slow-witted…"

"Shall we go find them?"

Hand the stupid innkeeper that ring or something. Tell him that if he tries to steal it I'll cut his balls off.

Andelia [druid] 426359

I show them the way to that old man.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426360

"Ho there, elder. How are your prices?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 426362

Head off to find them.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 426363

"We're right here silly! Now where's that place where you want us to go?"

Campfire 426364

"If you aren't getting money from me to buy things I don't need your stuff."

"Forty marks for an enchantment that will let your weapons hurt even the toughest monsters, sixty for the same plus magical damage to the solid undead, and you don't look like you can afford anything else."

They are in Mage Alley.

"The other one. The one with the armor. We want you to go to the forest to the northeast. There is a cave there with monsters. Kill them monsters and come back to get your reward."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 426365

"Let's freaking go already. I'm tired of the smell here."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426366

"Since I use a shield as a weapon and a defense, you wouldn't happen to have any defensive spells available, would you?"

Campfire 426368

His horn glows.
"You've only got forty marks. That's enough for a basic weapon enchantment, and that's all."

Pomelo [Preacher] 426369

"It's not that bad Dreamy. Just a little hint of.."
I sniff the air.
"…I think mold and stale bath water?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 426372

I'll sigh.
"Very well, then."
And I'll hold out my shield, the one I got from the Inquisitor mansion.

Campfire 426373

I plan on running again on Thursday night. If you catch me making things complicated or trying to be secretive yell at me over Steam.

Campfire 427282

The party sits in a country in surrounded by a few houses and many large fields full of grains and vegetables. The innkeeper has provided cold water for the party to drink, but has otherwise stayed out of their hair. It has been nearly ten minutes since the party sat down and the town has stayed quiet, but now the tramp of hooves and the sound of loud voices can be heard approaching the inn. The door swings open and in come many large earth ponies with dull, earthy colored coats. They all stop talking when they see the party, and the largest on approaches them.
"Are you the adventurers here to kill the beasts living in the northeastern forest? If not, would you like to be? The pay is good."

Campfire 427283

We'll be waiting for about ten minutes for zulu. Feel free to talk or do whatever.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427285

I nod.
"Yeah! We're here about the rats!"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427286

"We are."

Pomelo [Preacher] 427287

I wave my hand around.
"That's us! Ready to smack around your little pest problem!"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427289

I wave.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427292

"Yes. Let's begin."

Campfire 427295

"Rats? No, they aren't rats. They're bigger and meaner than rats."

"Alright, you had best set out soon then. You'll find their lair in a cave in the forest. If you don't have any healers in your group you might want to visit a temple when the job is over because they've got a pretty nasty bite. You'll get all of your reward when you get back."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427297

Check my crossbow and proceed.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427298

I'll nod.
"Anything you can tell us about them?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427300

"Pommy here can heal us all up just fine!"
I give him a hug and pat his head.

And with that, I follow DK.

Pomelo [Preacher] 427301

I jump up and hug her back.
"Yeah! I'm pretty good at that!"
Follow them!

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427302

Campfire 427304

"They're about as big as ponies and smarter than they look. Chances are if you see one, there are more you don't see."

Dreamkicker's crossbow is in good working order. You all stand up and leave the inn. The sun is starting to come down from its noon position and you can see the forest the farmer mentioned far off in the distance. The pony sticks his head out the door.
"Try to make it back before nightfall. Lots of nasty things outside when the sun sets."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427306

Try to find that cave.

Roll #1 5 = 5

Olga [Lifebinder] 427307

Do I at least have my torch and incense?

Pomelo [Preacher] 427308

I help him look! '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

I look too.

Roll #1 8 = 8

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427311

Off we go, into the wild forest.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427313

I help too!

Roll #1 4 = 4

Campfire 427314

You do.

The four of you look around the town for the cave, but cannot find it. The stallion that hired you all is watching with a puzzled look on his face.

While the others look around you hit the road for the forest. Are you sure you want to continue without your friends?

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427315

I had assumed Happyhorn was still on my back, and we were scanning the road.
Well, I'll wait for the rest to catch up, then.

Pomelo [Preacher] 427316

"No big creepy caves around here, so nooo monsters! Job well done gu-"
I notice Brutus walking off and hurry after him

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427318

Well you should have assumed "we go into the forest first," Campy. Just trying to expedite things.

Go into forest and look for cave.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427319

"I don't see any cave around he-"

"Wait up for me!"

Campfire 427323

File: 1370568669087.jpg (534.86 KB, 900x675, forest.jpg)

Oh. I thought she jumped off to look around.

All of you begin the trek to the forest, and by the time you arrive the sun has nearly reached the horizon and the light has just started to grow dim. The last of the fields stop here, and broken wooden rail fences separate the fields in the valley from the forest that grows up the gentle slopes of the mountain. The trees here are tall and thin, but plentiful underbrush makes it difficult to see very far into the forest. There is an old, poorly-maintained path that leads into the woods.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427324

"Oooooh… spoooooky!"
I make ghost noises and shuffle around like a ghoul, then stop because of a giggle fit.

Pomelo [Preacher] 427325

I huddle next to Dreamkicker
"Bessy, come on… t-that's not funny!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427326

"It'll be fine. We've handled worse things than ghouls."

Start down the path.

Unless I say otherwise, I'm probably staying on top of Brutus.

Well let's take a look around here. Anything unusual?

Roll #1 9 = 9

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427328

"Are you certain walking into a forest during the coming night is the wisest idea? Tree roots are practically invisible in the dark."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427329

I immediately stop and pull him close to me.
"I'm sorry Pommy! I- I was just making a joke… shh… we've faced worse things than ghosts and ghouls! We'll be okay!"

Pomelo [Preacher] 427330

"Well we can't just camp out here. We got a job to get paid for! I think Bessy's got a light on her."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427331

"I have a lantern!"
I pull out my pink lantern and light it.
I still have that, right?

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427332

I take out my lantern, too.

Campfire 427335

You advance into the forest. The trees cause the light to become even dimmer as you, and the sound of stalks of grain swaying in the breeze is replaced by the sounds of creaking trees, rustling branches, the shuffle of your hooves through fallen twigs and leaves, and the sounds of small animals moving through the forest. It is not quite dark enough yet to require a lantern, but yours provides a little light and lets you see a little further.
Perception roll.

You can see some tracks on the path. Some of them look like they were made by ponies, but others look more bestial.

You sure do. Pink light, barely visible in the light the sun is still providing, shines out from it.

Olga [Lifebinder] 427336

I'll save my light for later.

Keep going.

Pomelo [Preacher] 427338

Head down the path too!
Rolling if I need to or to see if any danger's about

Roll #1 7 = 7

Campfire 427339

You walk through the forest with Hornbeard staying close beside you. Before long you catch up with Dreamkicker.
Perception roll.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427340

I'll keep my shield ready, and stay alert for things. '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427341

Roll #1 2 = 2

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427342

"Oh hey, tracks!"

I point.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427343

Does the Survival bonus apply to perception checks too?

Roll #1 1 + 3 = 4

Olga [Lifebinder] 427345

Roll #1 6 = 6

Campfire 427348

As you catch up with Dreamkicker and Olga you catch sight of a a few sticks sticking out of a bush shift before becoming motionless.

You keep your shield held up as you walk along the path on three legs. You do not spot anything out of the ordinary for a forest.

You notice a bush on the right side of the branch rustling oddly. Before you have a chance to defend yourself a…bird flies out of it and away into the forest.

You can use Hornbeard to help with these checks in the future because he is alive.
You see a few thick branches rise out of a bush on the left side of the path. Before you have a chance to shout…

A large timberwolf leaps out of the bush it was hiding in and bites you hard on your back leg. It shakes it's head back and forth to try and pull your leg out from under you, but cannot knock you over.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427349

"Dumb birds.

"Gah! Bessy!"

Shock the Timberwolf!

Roll #1 1 = 1

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427350

I try to throw it off of my and blast it with the canon!

Roll #1 6 = 6

Shoot it!

Roll #1 3 + 1 = 4

Roll #1 10 + 1 = 11

Pomelo [Preacher] 427354

I immediately jump to Bessy and heal her

Roll #1 9 + 2 = 11

Olga [Lifebinder] 427355

Skillfully (?) ram my staff into its mouth.

Roll #1 7 = 7

Campfire 427358

Another large timberwolf down from a treebranch and lands on your brack, driving you down onto the ground as it's fangs tear apart the back of your neck.

You kick the wooden wolf free and spin around, kneeling so you can blast it with party supplies. The timberwolf stands up and shakes off as much of the batter and balloons as it can.

A third large timberwolf leaps onto Brutus's back and sticks a paw with sharp brambles for claws into your fluffy bunker. Your face receives several scratches and your are forced to stay hidden, unable to get your shot off this round.

You spin around and slam your shield into its side with all the force you can muster. The timberwolf is thrown into the air and breaks into several chunks they spray dark sap as they sail off into the forest.

You charge your horns with the magic of laughter and headbutt her wound, healing it instantly. The explosion of healing magic fillls Dreamkicker and allows him to stand back up and throw the timberwolf off him.

You can roll for Hornbeard too.
You jam the butt of your staff into the mouth of the timberwolf that was on Dreamkicker's back, and break off a few of its teeth.

Campfire 427360

The entire party is at full hits and full wounds.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427361

Sling a stone at its head! Break it!

Roll #1 3 + 1 = 4

Campfire 427362

Except Happyhorn, who is at 3/5.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427363

Let's keep it rolling, then. As I was aiming for the one Bessy was attacked by, I'll take care of the dog on my back. Slam it into a nearby tree. '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

Pomelo [Preacher] 427364

Let's try glorifying Bessy!

Roll #1 9 = 9

"Get off!"
Kick it in the face!

Roll #1 3 = 3

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427366

Struggle to get away!

Roll #1 10 = 10

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427367

Oh. Uh, use that to shock something.

Olga [Lifebinder] 427368

Hornbeard attempts to continue attacking the wolf's mouth by ramming objects into it.

Now, look for a corpse!

Roll #1 4 = 4 / Roll #2 8 = 8

Campfire 427369

You sling a stone at the wolf on Brutus's back. The stone misses as the timberwolf Olga is fighting tears itself free of her staff and starts trying to chew your face off.

You slam into a nearby tree, causing the timberwolf to claw its way further into Happyhorn's bunker to stay on your back. It's claws tear at your skin as it does so.

You recite a passage from the Book of Parties, lifting Bessy's spirits and strengthening her resolve to win.

It snaps at your legs as you try to kick it, and is able to snare of of them in its mouths. The pain becomes so great as its teeth scrape against bone that you can think of doing nothing but getting your leg out of its mouth. The wolf is suddenly blasted out of the hole and off Brutus's back, but takes a small chunk of you with it.

Controlling the flow of electricity so that only the timberwolf is shocked, you call down the thunder and strike the Timberwolf on Brutus's back causing it to fragment as it flies off his back and into a tree. The timberwolf breaks into a few large pieces that leak dark sap, but as arcs of electricity jump between them they reform and the wolf stands back up.

Hornbeard tries to jam a rock into the timberwolf's mouth, but the timberwolf just opens wide and chomps down on his hoof as it enters his mouth. You spot a small, decaying wold on the side of the path.

Roll #1 2 + 1 = 3

And I'll set my shield and Slam into the one that's reforming. '1d10+1'

"Don't worry Happyhorny I got ya!"
Bolster Happyhorn

Olga [Lifebinder] 427373

You mean wolf?

I'll take anything. Raise the wolf. Hornbeard needs to get free.

Roll #1 6, 8 = 14

"Splinter-sucking piles of driftwood!"

Explosive shot!

Roll #1 2 = 2

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427375

I throw an Explosive Shot at the group of timberwolves!

Roll #1 6 + 2 = 8

Campfire 427376

You strike too soon and your shield passes through empty air, allowing the timberwolf to reform inside your guard and bite your leg a few times before retreating.

>Trying to use Fire Shot without specialist ammo or unlocked Campfire's horn.
You nearly set your crossbow on fire while trying to light the bolt. Distracted by trying to get the raw wood of the bolt to catch you do not notice a timberwolf attacking until it as already scratched your side with its bramble claws.

Happyhorn is surrounded by a faint pink aura.

The wolf raises to its feet and moves to your sidde as fast as it can. Hornbeard grabs another rock and starts smashing the timberwolf's head until it falls apart. Hornbread is able to retreat to your side before the timberwolf reforms.

The pink aura fades as you compartmentalize the pain and crawl towards the entrance to your bunker to achieve a good firing position.

You strike both wolves with explosive projectiles launched from your sling. The explosions light up the night as large wooden chunks and dark sap go flying every which way. Smoking, both wolves reform.

"They- they- they came back! They're not supposed to do that!"
I start panicking,

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427379

Roll #1 2 = 2

right, sorry.

Okay, let's try and get a better view of the situation. Rolling to reestablish Vantage Point.

Roll #1 5 = 5

Olga [Lifebinder] 427384

Either way

Light my torch! Hornbeard defends.

Roll #1 3, 6 = 9

Campfire 427385

The Introduction to Creatures of the Equestrian Forests you took to take care of you Nature Knowledge credit taught you that the only ways to kill a timberwolf are to burn it to ash, or break it until it stops reforming. Keeping your eyes on the wolves this time allows you to stay free of their jaws and claws.

Your legs lock up as you start to panic, giving the timberwolf that Brutus knocked away from the path the perfect opportunity to latch onto your leg and start chewing.

Bit and pieces of the wolf break off as you slam it with your shield, but it retains its form.

You jump up to a low branch. Survaying that batle you pinch your nose shut with a hoof and hum a very faithful reddition of March of the Kazoo.
+2 to all rolls next turn.

Your minion is knocked to the side as a timberwolf charges at you and tries to latch onto your neck. Hornbeard starts beating it with his rock but it isn't enough.

Brutus is moving too much for you to get a stable vantage point.

Shoot the one Brutus just hit!

Roll #1 10 = 10

Campfire 427391

It sinks to the ground then springs up as your shield passes over it. Its jaws latch around your thick throat but do not pierce very far.

It roots its paws into the ground and shakes its head as you try to kick it, causing you to fall over and the skin and muscle on your leg to tear.

Three small bolts of lightning leap from your horn and smash into a timberwolf, shattering it. The three bolts arc up from the smoking pile of timberwolf and strike another, causing it to burst apart in a shower of blue sparks. Each stand up a few seconds later as the smell of burnt wood starts to drift through the air.

Before any of the large timberwolves have a chance to attack the downed buffalo you help her to her hooves as you run your magic through her wounds.

Quickly looping Brutus's thick wool around you back legs you dive off his back. Hanging upside down you fire several shots at the Timberwolf, which shatter and does not reform as a large puddle of sap spills out of it. With your gouty agility it is easy to swing back up onto Brutus's back. As you resume your firing position you send a telepathic message to the surgeons in the city, telling them to go home because you will be doing all the operating now.

Switch targets and hit Bessy's opponent with knockout shot.

Roll #1 7 = 7

Olga [Lifebinder] 427398

Better heal myself first.

Minions keep trying to hold down the wolves!

Roll #1 5 = 5 / Roll #2 8, 10 = 18

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427399

Should have been linked there.

Campfire 427400

You charge a timberwolf that was just about to pounce on zulu. It breaks into a few large, dripping chunks as you hit it.

You walk up to the reforming timberwolf and point your crossbow at the reforming creature's head. As soon as its eyes light back up you pull the trigger and fire a bolt into its head. The wolf collapses into a few large chunks annd does not move as a large amount of thick sap spills out of it.

The bites and scratches hidden under Brutus's thick fuzz vanish as you heal him.

You lose it completely. Your eyes roll back into your head as you trample the timberwolf underhoof. You stampede and bunch off tree after tree, running over the timberwolf each time your cross the road. By the time you calm down enough to control yourself all that is left of the timberwolf is a bunch of sappy sticks, most of which are stuck to your legs.

You sit back and keep watch for more tangos as she panics. You do not spot any.

You minion keeps watch for more targets while Hornbeard gives you the moral support needed to successfully cast your spell.

The large timberwolves are all dead. Brutus and Bessy: the places where you were bit, while healed, burn like hot metal was pressed against them. Happyhorn, your untreated bite burns and festers on your leg. Hornbeard favors his bitten hoof and grits his teeth.

Roll #1 7 + 2 = 9

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427402

"Well that was a… tree-t."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427403

I'll grimace slightly.
"So this is what they meant when the bites were different. Poison, do you think?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 427404

I notice Hornbeard gritting his teeth
"What's wrong? Not feelin so hot after that fight?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427405

And I'll just stare blankly at him as he makes a pun.

Campfire 427406

Happyhorn's wound vanishes.

Happyhorn: you can still feel the pain of the wound.

He speaks through gritted teeth, tears welling up in his eyes.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427407

"I-I hope not…What is this stuff?"

"It still hurts…"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427408

I wince from all the bites.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427409

What do I know about Timberwolf bites?

Roll #1 3 = 3

Smack him on the butt with my stick.

Roll #1 7 = 7

Campfire 427411

Not much. Maybe they have some sort of poison?

A solid smack. It leaves a red mark that lasts for a second or two.

Pomelo [Preacher] 427412

"Still hurting…?"

"Oh no, poison?"

Pull Hornbeard's hoof close.
"Lemme test something…"
Can I use heal to cure his pain? '1d10+2'

Roll #1 2 + 2 = 4

Campfire 427413

So long as nogoat is smacking Dreamkicker's butt, yes. Try again.

Pomelo [Preacher] 427414

Alright, again!

Roll #1 2 + 2 = 4

Campfire 427415

Keep trying.

Pomelo [Preacher] 427416

Maybe Bessy is more curable?

Roll #1 9 + 2 = 11

Campfire 427417

Frustrated by your failures, you end up overcharging your horns and release a burst of healing magic. When you stand back up you see that everyone as been healed and cured.

The sun is starting to dip below the treeline. There are less than a dozen large chunks of timberwolf scattered around the path, and a lot of sap and sticks stuck to Bessy's legs.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427418

"Whoa, how'd you do that?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427419

"So, do we press on in the night, or camp here until daylight? I doubt the night will pass peacefully, though."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427420

I clap in amazement at the suddent outburst of healing ability!
"Woo! That was amazing Pommy!"

Also I try to get all the sap and sticks off me.

Roll #1 4 = 4

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427421

"I don't like the idea of staying in one place for long."

Olga [Lifebinder] 427422

"Fortify ourselves. Evil spirits in woods prey upon those foolish enough to travel in darkness."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427423

"Better than marching through the night."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427424

"Then we travel by lantern-light? Whatever's out there will see us plain as day, though."

Campfire 427425

You can't get the sticky stuff off you, but manage to keep from spreading it around. The sap is oddly red in the pink light of your lantern.

There is still enough light left to travel coming from the sun, but at a slow pace. The two lanterns in the party provide more than enough light to counteract that.

Pomelo [Preacher] 427426

I wipe my forehead and sigh
"Whew! A whole buncha messups just means a biiiig success is building up!"

"If we fall asleep in one spot we're just an easy snack!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427427

"Fine, we camp here, make a fire, and sleep in shifts."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427428

"Or we can try to make our way back to the inn."

Olga [Lifebinder] 427429

"We can use what light we have to fortify ourselves for the night better, or press on till there is no more light. Either way, be wary of the bogeyhorse lurking in the night."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427430

"I didn't expect all of us to sleep at once. We would take turns watching while the others slept."
I'll nod, and start gathering up bits of timberwolf. They burn well, right?

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427431

"And take half of the next day to come back out, making just as little progress? Either we keep going or we stop for the night. One or the other."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427432

"We're not burning the timberwolf. That's disgusting."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427433

"The bogeyhorse?"

"Why can't we just keep going? It's not that late! We'll be at that cave in no time!"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427434

"Wood is wood."
"Then we'll need torches, in case the lanterns go out."

Pomelo [Preacher] 427435

"Yeah, I don't wanna stop here! I'm not even sleepy yet."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427436

Party Survival!
I try to procure some kind of lights!

Roll #1 7 = 7

Campfire 427437

I'm not seeing any mention of tents or sleeping bags in any of your inventories.

They should.
Roll, Brutus.

You capture some fireflies in jars without managing to burn yourself. You poke a few holes it the tops of the jars so they can breath.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427438

Roll #1 4 = 4

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427439

How much light is that giving off?

Olga [Lifebinder] 427440

"The bogeyhorse! Night creatures! They attack those who are alone at night! should you hear incessant cackling in the forests at night, run and find your companions, or if you have none, run, run and never stop!"

"Would you like to donate some hairs to burn, then?"

Campfire 427441

You gather the soggy, sappy chunks of timberwolf and get thick red sap on your legs.

Enough to light up the path for a few feet if you make a perimeter with them.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427442

"Stop frightening the buffalo, you old ninny.

"And if we really must stop, then perhaps Brutus should knock some firewood down."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427443

Oh, that's going to be a bother to clean.
And it's probably flammable. Aren't there any dryer pieces of them left? '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

Campfire 427444

Nope they are all pretty soggy and…squishy?

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427445

Ew. I'll set one of the squishier ones down, and clear the ground around it.
"Could one of you light that? I'm not certain how flammable the sap is, and I seem to be covered in it."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427446

"Well we should have enough now, shouldn't we?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 427447

I look down the path.
"Can't we just go with the lanterns we have? It's probably gonna get darker soon…"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427448

I shiver and move a bit closer to Pomelo and DK.
"Th- that's just a silly story… right?"

I'm just gonna go and gather many many more
Make a few of those firefly lanterns!

Roll #1 5 = 5

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427449

"When has she been right about anything?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427450

Look if we're going to do this, let's speed it up, okay?

"I'll take the first watch."

Look out for monsters.

Roll #1 10 = 10

Pomelo [Preacher] 427451

I gulp and hug her
"I wouldn't let no mean big… scary… spooky… boogeyhorse.. touch my friends!"
I shiver a little

Pomelo [Preacher] 427452

Why are we stopping to caaaaamp
I stay up with him

Olga [Lifebinder] 427453

"I know ponies like to tell stories of the bogeyhorse like it's a joke, or something to scare bad kids, but the truth is far more terrifying! There are also Night Trolls, those who come out in darkness to capture goats, or ponies, of buffalo, and transform them into monster like themselves so they can have children with them!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427454

I guess it makes sense from an IC perspective, sorta.

Once that's done, someone else should roll for watch and stuff.

Campfire 427455

The sun dips below the treeline and fog rises up from the ground, creating a blanket as deep as a goat's back. The light from the stars and the fat moon cast their soft, silvery light down upon it.

You try to catch more fireflies but singe your hoof when you miss with your jar.

Saved for when the others bed down.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427456

Not really. It's barely dark! It was light when we just came here! It's been dark for a grand total of maybe an hour!

"So I guess we're camping up now?… Why are we camping in the woods? It's scary here…"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427457

"Go to bed, Bessy. Everypony go to bed. Brutus, I'll wake you up for the next watch."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427458

I'll nod, and settle down on the ground.
"You warm enough up there, little one?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427459

I nod and settle down on the ground and try to get comfortable.

Pomelo [Preacher] 427460

We got lanterns, weapons that can take on vampires, a job to get paid for, and it's not even pomelo's bed time…

"But I wanna stay up with yo-"
I immediately fall over next to Dreamkicker and sleep.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427461

"Perfectly!" Just don't roll over!"

Campfire 427462

You stay up and keep your eyes peeled for danger as the others go to sleep. After an hour you spot several things coming up the path from deeper in the forest. They are moving towards the camp. As they get closer they slow down and stop. The light from the jars does not extended far enough to make out what they are, but the front creature looks like a pony with longer ears. It speaks in a braying voice.
"Hello? Who are all of you?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427463

Great. More peasants.

"Get up. All of you get up. We have company.

"We're a band of adventurers attempting to eradicate this forest's pest problem. And you?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427464

I'll snort once or twice, and blearily open my eyes.
"My watch already?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 427465

I roll over and stretch next to Dreamkicker
"Nngh… what? Who's where?"

Look up at the creatures in front of us and yawn.
"…We don't want any."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427466

Grunt and roll over.

Campfire 427467

He looks back at the shapes behind him before speaking.
"We're the last group they sent. You shouldn't stay here, the forest is full of monsters that will eat you alive. Our camp is safer."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427468

"Who are you guys?…"
I rub the sleep from my eyes.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427469

"Who sent you?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427470

I'll blink once or twice.
"If you're the last group they sent, then where are your torches? There's plenty of deadwood around that you needn't walk about in the dark."

Is it a bogeyman?

Roll #1 7 = 7

Pomelo [Preacher] 427472

I grunt and stand up.
"You're not tryin' to take the job back are you…? We need the pay for… stuff!"

Campfire 427473

"We're the last group that the farmers sent to kill the monsters. There's a lot they didn't tell us and now we'rre trapped her. Come with us, our camp is safer."

"What do you mean?"

"Carrying torches makes you too easy to see. Put your fires out and follow us before the monsters find us."

There's no cackling, so probably not.

"We don't care about the marks anymore. We only want to live."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427474

Scan them.

Roll #1 9 + 2 = 11

Pomelo [Preacher] 427475

Nudge him
"Should we follow 'em?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427476

"What do you think DK? What should we do?…"
I yawn.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427477

"Hold on. There's something odd about them."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427478

I yawn.
"Then how the heck can you see annythin' outhere?"

Campfire 427479

The group is four members strong: three ponies and a donkey. The donkey's coat has two dully colored splotches on his flanks and two lumps on his back. The ponies all have smudged cutiemarks and one has an oddly sized horn, another has wings that are too big, and another is freakishly stong.

"We follow the path. You don't need light to know the path is the place without a bunch of trees and bushes. This place isn't safe. We really need to get back to our camp."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427480

"There's something wrong with them. They seem… wrong."

Speak to the donkey.

"Why are you out here in the middle of the night?"

Olga [Lifebinder] 427481

"How long have you been here for? Why do you not go back?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427482

"Where is your camp? Why'd you leave it?"

Campfire 427483

"We heard fighting and came to see if there were survivors. The longer we stay here the more likely monsters are to find us. It's not safe here."

"We lost count. Monsters patrol the edge of the forest to keep us from leaving. We think the farmers tricked us and are evil. Please hurry before the monster hear us."

"On the slop of the mountain. I already told the unicorn why we left. Please come with us quickly."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427484

Look at him but say nothing.

Pomelo [Preacher] 427485

"They ruined our nap. That's pretty wrong of 'em."
I cross my arms
"Let's just go and check it out. If they try anything funny we can smack em around."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427486

"I don't trust them… but perhaps they could help us find out what's wrong with the forest."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427487

"Yeah… they interrupted our sleeping! Buncha meanies…"

Campfire 427488

"Would you have liked to be eaten in your sleep? Come back to our camp and you will be safe."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427489

"We had a watch…he saw you comin'."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427490

I'll yawn widely for a moment, and then look to the other three.
"If it's a trap, even tired we should be strong enough to take them. But we've nothing to lose by working together, suspicious though they are."

Pomelo [Preacher] 427491

I nod and yawn

I stumble towards them

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427492

Follow beside him.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427493

And I'll follow suit.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427494

Stare at them as he goes past.

There's something wrong. There might be.

Do I know anything about monsters that might take the guise of lost travelers to lure others into danger?

Roll #1 5 = 5

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427496

Campfire 427497

"Good. Put out your lights and stay quiet."
They turn around and start along along the path deeper into the forest.

There's all sorts of monsters that are rumored to do that. In fact, there are too many for you to narrow down what these might be if they aren't who they say they are.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427498

Plodding along in the dark sure is fun. And the trees are too thick to let in any starlight, aren't they? '1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

Too late to say anything.

Send my wolf minion out before me and have Hornbeard my my side, then proceed carefully.

Roll #1 9 = 9

Pomelo [Preacher] 427500

I sleepily shuffle along
"We almost there?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427501

Turn on farsight so I can see, climb on top of Bessy if–- if it's okay~ and direct her

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427502

Nothing bad is going on… is there?

Roll #1 2 = 2

Pomelo [Preacher] 427503

I hop on too and lay down on Bessy's back
"Hey, I didn't know you liked it up here too Dreamy!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427504

"It's an undignified concession to the reality presented to us, Pommy."

Pomelo [Preacher] 427505

I tilt my head.
"So yes? Those words mean yes, right?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427506

"S'comfy, right?"

Campfire 427507

Far too thick. The party is traveling along is total darkness, staying together thanks only to the sounds of others walking nearby and the occasional brush or bump.

Your wolf warns you of things you might trip over and Hornbeard lets you lean on him when you get tired.

With your magical vision you direct Bessy around every root and rock.

You can't tell, it's pitch dark.

After who knows how long of following the path the party emerges into a clearing. The light from the stars and the full moon let the party see a little bit. The slop grows steeper here, and several large boulders dot the sides of the path as it goes up the mountain. The group you all joined keeps walking.
"Almost there. Hurry. We have shelter in a cave."
Everyone roll a 1d10-2, except Dreamkicker who should roll a d10.

Roll #1 8 - 2 = 6

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427509

Shelter in a cave? Wasn't that where… I'll ready my shield, just in case.

Roll #1 1 - 2 = -1

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427510

Does Survival count for anything here?

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427511

I begrudgingly grumble something.

Roll #1 2 = 2

Pomelo [Preacher] 427512

"Wait, a cave? Aren't we supposed to be lookin' in one for baddies?"

Roll #1 3 - 2 = 1

Campfire 427513

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427514

Roll #1 10 + 1 = 11

Olga [Lifebinder] 427515

Roll #1 8 - 2 = 6

Campfire 427516

You both hear a stick crack in the forest behind you. Looking back you can see several abnormally large wolves and bears watching from the forest behind you. They seem to be waiting for something.

None of you see anything moving asides from your friends and the four people you met.
"Hurry. To the cave."

Your trained eyes catches movement along the mountain. Squinting, you can see a few abnormally large wolves and bears lying as still as they can. Glancing behind you, you see more of them along the treeline, creating a box to intercept the party if they go anywhere but up the mountain. Their even spacing leaves you no doubt that they are intelligent. The fact that they were already here tell you that they knew you all were coming.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427517

"Wait a moment. I distinctly remember that we were looking for a cave filled with monsters. This doesn't feel right at all."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427518

"No, it certainly doesn't. Why not light up the night, since we're safely at the caves?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427519

"Well we are being followed…"

Pomelo [Preacher] 427520

"Huh? By what? I don't see nothing followin' us."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427521

I put a hoof up to everyone's mouth.
"Shhhhhh! There's super big wolves and bears trying to ambush us! We gotta keep going… they know we're here and they've boxed us off! These ponies really were bad news…"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427522

I'll perk up slightly at that.
"So we wait until we're in the caves, and then only so many of them can attack at once."

Olga [Lifebinder] 427523

Stay low.

Keep moving.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427524

Look again at those ponies.

Roll #1 2 + 2 = 4

Pomelo [Preacher] 427525

"Oh no… so we're trapped?"

Campfire 427526

"You must have misheard. The cave is safe."

"No point in stopping to light the lanterns. We are almost there. Keep going."

"Nothing is following us."

You can't get a good look at them. Something from further up the mountain is throwing your vision off.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427527

Farsight further into the cave.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427528

Can I see anything about those pones?

I slowly nod.
"We're completely trapped…"

Roll #1 2 + 3 = 5

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 427529

"Wouldn't it just make it easier for them…?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 427530

"I believe there is plenty point to it. Caves are even more treacherous to explore in the dark than forests are."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 427531

"Weeeelll… not compleeetely trapped… We can still go up. But that's it."

Pomelo [Preacher] 427532

"That's not good… maybe we can run up and lose 'em?"

Campfire 427533

You can see the mouth of the cave up a steep incline, and next to it a large round stone can can be rolled over the entrance by somepony outside the cave.

They look sort of strange, but that might just be the shadows that are being cast on them by the boulders they walk by.

"The cave is safe. Hurry up and follow us."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427534

"They're going to trap us if we go inside. There's a rock that they'll roll to shut us in there."

Confront the ponies.

"What are you trying? What are you, really?"

Roll #1 8 = 8

Olga [Lifebinder] 427535

Get ready to light the torch.

they told us not to do it, when light repels Night Creatures. They're up to something.

Campfire 427536

They look at each other, then start laughing. The donkey speaks.
"We are trying to get you fools into the cave, but this is close enough. We told you the the truth when we said who we are, well, were."
He grins, the light of the full moon reflecting off his eyes and the eyes of his friends.
"Now. Walk into the cave or we can drag you in beaten, bitten, and bloody."

You get your torch out as Hornbeard prepares his flint and iron.

Pomelo [Preacher] 427537

I stand behind him and glare at the strange party

Campfire 427538

Pomelo [Preacher] 427539

Good point for it yeah

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 427540

Campfire 427541

Campfire 428141

The party stands in a clearing on the slope of a mountain. Behind them is the dark, fog-filled forest. To their left and right are steeper portions of the slope. Ahead of the party is a path leading up the mountain into the darkness. Standing at distant intervals, several larger-than-normal bears and wolves form a cordon that leaves only the path up the mountain unguarded. The donkey and three ponies, large and malformed, watch the party with eyes that shine in the light of the full moon.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428142

"I'm not going into that cave. I'm no fool."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428143

"To be fair, we were rather fools for following them without lights."
I'll ready my shield.

Pomelo [Preacher] 428144

I nudge him
"Bessy said the way up is clear. M-Maybe we can run up and lose 'em or something? Or anything that isn't standing here being surrounded by scary growly animals?"
I gulp

Bessy [Soothsayer] 428145

"It's the only way to go…"

Campfire 428146

"Yes you are."

As you raise your shield the four of them step back and several of the wolves start growling.
"Do you think you can kill all of us?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428147

"Truthfully? No. But I can at least hope to slow enough of you down to give the rest a chance to escape."

Pomelo [Preacher] 428148

Look at the way up the mountain.
Does it only lead to the cave or no?

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 428149

"Hey, why would I leave you?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428150

Look around with farsight. What do I see?

Roll #1 5 = 5

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428151

"Because dragging you down with me would be a waste of your life and talents."

Andelia [druid] 428152

"Well, we should bring a torch with us."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 428153

"Stop it Brutus, let's just go…"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 428154

"And have you waste yours? No deal!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428155

"Nopony is dying. Now shut up and get ready to fight."

Campfire 428156

"What makes you think all of us are here with you?"

The only light you have are the light of the starts and the full moon. All you can see up there is darkness.

On your three sides there are at least five creatures pacing back on forth, but there may be more that are hiding behind rocks and trees.

"Feel free to bring as many as you want."

"Don't sound so sad. We're a sporting sort. Whichever of you can find your way out of the cave and survive until daybreak gets to go free."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428157

I'll just sorta sigh.
"Why, though? Why did you start hunting here?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 428158

"Wait… you're doing this as a game?!"

Pomelo [Preacher] 428159

"This… this doesn't sound like a fun game…"

Andelia [druid] 428160

"We'll all be surviving. Its just unfortunate that you and your kind will all be dead by morning. We're monster hunters you see, and you're the monsters." '1d10' to look imposing

Roll #1 8 = 8

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 428161

"Not in the least…What do you expect us to do in this cave?"

Campfire 428162

"That's something to ask the leader, not us."

"A game for them, a job for us. Do you have any idea how embarrassing being a werdonkey is?"

"Maybe not for you guys, but you will all learn to love it eventually."

They aren't scared of you, but they certainly are afraid of your weapons. They back off out of your spear's reach.
"Yes, but there are more us us than there are of you."

"Fail to find your way out in time."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 428163

I frown.
What's the position of all of them + the wolves right now?

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428164

"Assuming we do go into the cave, your leader is likely going to stand between us and the exit, isn't he?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 428165

I lower my ears and sigh, then look around
"Are.. we going in then?"

Andelia [druid] 428166

"More that will be dead. Such a shame that you bear that curse."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 428167

"Yeah! We'll take him!"

Campfire 428168

File: 1370656157813.png (39.93 KB, 1292x1548, mountain path.png)

Like this.

"Maybe. He does his own thing."

He shrugs.
"You get used to it."

All four of them start laughing.

Andelia [druid] 428169

"Lets just go, someone light a few torches and we'll head in. "

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 428170

"I don't really see much choice if they're gonna laugh at us like that."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 428171

I sadly nod.
"I think we'll have to…"
I light my lantern and produce the firefly jar again. Is that enough light?

Pomelo [Preacher] 428172

"Alright. Let's go in and beat these dummies at their own game!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428173

Stay on Bessy and check around for stuff with see 'ems

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428174

Up we go, then. To the cave.
Can I see anything about our "guides" in the light? '1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

Pomelo [Preacher] 428175

I follow, staying under Bessy as I walk

I stare into the cave.

Roll #1 3 = 3

Andelia [druid] 428177

march after her confidently.

Campfire 428178

It is. The light from your lantern and firefly jars allow the party to see eight werbeasts positioned light in the drawing above. It also lets the party see the mouth of the cave and a large stone that can be rolled in front of it from the outside.

Looking through the ground, you can see a river flowing out of the mountain down and east of your current position. You do not see any werbeasts that the lantern does not reveal.

The donkey's coat has two dully colored splotches on his flanks and two lumps on his back. The ponies all have smudged cutiemarks and one has an oddly sized horn, another has wings that are too big, and another is freakishly strong. All of their eyes catch and reflect the moonlight.

You cannot see into the darkness of the cave.

The party advances up the mountain, and as they do the donkey and ponies fall back until they are walking directly behind the party. Soon you all reach the mouth of the cave. There is absolutely no light coming from within it, but it smells lived-in. To the left there is a large, round stone taller than Brutus, and in front of the cave is a deep groove for it to rest in. The donkey speaks.
"The rules are simple. Whoever can find their way out of the cave before the sun is halfway over the treetops and remains uncaught until then gets to go free. If any of you want to surrender now, go ahead. The plan isn't to kill any off you, but we won't shed any tears if we do."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428179

"And what happens if we lose?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428180

"What do you mean 'uncaught'?"

Campfire 428181

"You get killed if you cause to much trouble, or join the hunt if you value your life."

"I mean unsurrounded and unpursued. If we don't know where you are or you are already out of the forest when the sun reaches halfway above the trees you are free to go."

Pomelo [Preacher] 428182

I take a few steps in
"Yeah? W-Well just hope we don't catch you!"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 428183

"Yeah? And what guarantee do we have?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 428184

I mutter under my breath.
"Those big meanies and jerks are going to get what's coming to them…"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428185

"And if we decide to stay and fight in a good position until there are none left to pursue us?"

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 428186

"Hey, there's the spirit, tough guy."

Andelia [druid] 428187

"Yea, whatever, we'll just kill anyone who 'pursues' us."

Andelia [druid] 428188

'1d10' I don't believe him but, read intentions to see if he's lying about allowing us to live if we escape.

Roll #1 10 = 10

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428189

Track the river beneath us upwards. Is there some way to reach it?

Roll #1 8 + 2 = 10

Campfire 428190

They laugh.
"That's the spirit!"

"You saw how suspiciously high the price was for this job didn't you? You went to the usual places to try and figure out what the reason was, didn't you? There are a few adventuers and monster hunters that have managed too escape and warn others off this job. Me and my friends didn't listen, of course. Our mistake."

"You might win, you might lose. There are more of us than you see here, and we are all going to be going after you one way or another."

He's telling the truth. You can feel bitterness from him because at least one of his companions managed to escape while he was caught.

The river originates high in the mountain and flows down through a series of caves before connect to this group of caves and flowing out of the mountain. It can be found on the righthoof side of the cave system and the way out is hidden by false walls and floors. A dark power from deep inside the caves keeps you from seeing any more detail than this, however.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428191

Well, let's head in the direction of those false walls and such.

"Follow me, everypony."

Dig hooves into Bessy and point her in the right direction.

Pomelo [Preacher] 428192

Follow them in

Andelia [druid] 428193

"We didn't see anyone that previously took this job. "
I follow you.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428194

I'll keep an eye on the four fallen adventurers, and follow after Dreamkicker.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 428195

I sadly begin walking where DK is directing me.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 428196

Slowly tread after him giving a little sarcastic salute to the monsters as we go.

"Hey, sayonara pally."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 428197

I glare at them as Brutus goes past.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428198

Once we're out of earshot…

"There's a river that likely leads out of the mountain. I think we should attempt to find and follow it.

"As I see it, our captors have made a crucial error: They will likely 'hunt' us piecemeal, while we remain united. They have done the dividing for us, and all we need to do is accomplish the conquering."

Look around for a false wall or something.

Roll #1 2 + 2 = 4

Campfire 428199

You do not know where they are. All you know is that the there are caverns that the river runs through, and that the one that leads to the outside has false walls and such hiding the exit.

As the last of your step inside four large werbears walk up to the stone and roll it into place. It falls into the groove with a loud thunk. The light from the lantern and firefly jars Bessy is holding reveal that the tunnel continues forwards and that another tunnel branches off up and to the left.

Your third eye can see no false walls or such in this tunnel.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428200

"Yes, but as a group we are only as swift as our slowest member."
I'll look up towards Happyhorn as best I can.
"That means you'll likely have to share with the elder, little one."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 428201

I shudder.
"I can deal…so long as we all make it out of this mess."

Andelia [druid] 428202

"We will." I say confidently. look down the left path '1d10+1'

Roll #1 7 + 1 = 8

Pomelo [Preacher] 428203

I shudder as the way out closes

"So just let 'em come at us one by one so we can kick their butts?"

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 428204

"Hey, big deal. I've fought loadsamonsters in my time. Do I look dead? No way."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428205

"The river is on the right side of the caves. In any case, our main goal should probably be to descend."

Astral project down the current hallway. What's down there?

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 428206

"Do you think they'll hunt us in here?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428207

"Probably. They'll have to burrow through the ground, but they've likely got at least one diamond dog leading that charge."

Campfire 428208

It snakes back and forth and stretches upwards. You think you can smell some food at the end of it.

There is another path leading up and to the left. There is a path that leads down and to the right. The main tunnel stays level and turns to the left.

Pomelo [Preacher] 428209

"Right. Let's find our way out then!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428210

"Down this hallway. There are some stairs leading further down."

Let's keep going down this hallway.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428211

Well, he's going down first, so I'll cover the rear.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 428212

I follow his lead!

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 428213

"We should probably move then…"

Pomelo [Preacher] 428214

Followin' while staying under Bessy

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 428215

"Hey uh, not that a tough guy like me can't manage some stairs, but ain'chu afraid somepony's gonna trip here in the blinding darkness on stairs? We got like one freakin' lantern."

Follow after them.

Pomelo [Preacher] 428216

"Three! Bessy's got two, and Dreamy's got… uh… the rest!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428217

"We have several lanterns."

I give him my lantern. I can see fine with farsight, I suppose, and with whatever Bessy's got.

"You know, there's enough room up here for you, too, Pommy."

Andelia [druid] 428218

"Down?! Wait a second, we want to go up I'm pretty sure."

Campfire 428219

The party walks forwards and soon comes upon a tunnel leading up and to the left, and another tunnel leading down and to the right. The main tunnel bends to the left but stays level.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428220

I'll cock an ear. Do I hear anything? '1d10' That isn't us, I mean.

Roll #1 1 = 1

Bessy [Soothsayer] 428221

"Yeah Pommy. You don't have to stay down there!"
I ruffle his hair a little.

"I'm fine! I'm protecting Bessy down here. Dreamy can keep a watch up above."

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 428226

"Hey, pretty sure we should stay near ground level. Don't know how deep this place could go, y'know?"

Take a look down the left, using my newfound lantern. '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

Andelia [druid] 428227

"I'm pretty sure we should go left and up." I start that direction.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428228

"That's one possibility, sure.

"But, as I previously pointed out, there's a subterranean river that runs through this mountain. It's likely that it eventually exits the mountain."

"I don't think that's a good idea."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 428229

"What if we end up going below ground?"

Andelia [druid] 428230

I sigh "Why not?"

Campfire 428231

From the tunnel that goes up and to the left you hear the sound of gagged, muffled voices.

Too scared to leave the shelter of Bessy's legs you crane your neck out as far as you can and try to look down the tunnel, but your neck isn't long enough.

You open your third eye and look into the chamber at the end of the tunnel on the right. There are a few barrels of trash and, at the bottom of them, are silver weapons.

The two of you can see that the tunnel is short and comes out into a room. None of you can see into the room because of the angle, but what little you can see of the room is dry and empty.

You burn your cheek with the lantern as you raise it and nearly drop it.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428232

I sigh harder and mockingly.

"Because of the reasons I just described."

Andelia [druid] 428233

"You want to risk drowning in some under ground river? No thanks."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428234

"I hear something from up and to the left. Sounds like voices. Could be pursuers, could be prisoners or other captives."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428235

"It looks like there are some silver weapons down there. This," I point down the right path, "is the correct way to go."

"Excellent point. We should abandon the likeliest exit we know of in favor of blind supposition because maybe it might have some risks associated with it."

Pomelo [Preacher] 428236

"But Andy, he said it leads out of here! We might not even gotta swim in it!"

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 428237

"Aiight, well pursuers wouldn't make noises, right? They wanna be sneaking and the like. I figure I know a pony up in Canterlot who'd appreciate it if we free captives in a place like this. You want me to go take a look?"

Throw on my best were-pony disguise. Imitate the most intimidating one of the group we saw earlier as best I can. '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Bessy [Soothsayer] 428238

I tilt my head.
"It could be anything… maybe one of those meanies trying to play a trick on us!"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 428239

I frown.
"Who would just leave silver weapons down here?"

Andelia [druid] 428240

"I hope that horn of yours can make an air bubble, because rivers are made of water, not air, and underground rivers have little reason to make air pockets." I say.

"We'll go look at the weapons first, some of them are probably good."
"I agree with you Brutus, I think the left path does have something up there, and we should go there after we check out those weapons."

Campfire 428241

The river you saw can be walked alongside as it does not take up the entire width of the tunnel.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428242

"Especially considering who they would be used against."
I'll follow Morass up.

Andelia [druid] 428243

"They said they were fair sports, so that's probably why they left them, and.. actually they probably can't touch the silver because of their curse."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428244

"I know for a fact we can walk along the river."

Campfire 428245

You put on a hat with a stuffed bear's head on top of it.

I don't think Morass moved yet.

Andelia [druid] 428246

"You know for a fact we can walk along the river all the way to safety?"

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 428247

"Hey, hey, and what about captives? I get that some of you guys may not have as many scruples as I do, but if there's even a possibility there are some innocents in here, we can't just leave them chained up in the dark. Do your magic see-through-walls thing!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428248

"The portion I saw, at least.

"Now we can take the path to the left in order to satisfy your curiosity, we can stay here arguing until our captors attempt to eat us, or we can head towards the only possible exit we know of and not waste any more time."

"I find it profoundly unlikely that there would be any more captives here."

Astral project up the left stairway and see what's going on there.

Andelia [druid] 428249

"If we pick up the weapons first we'll be able to save the captives much more efficiently " '1d10+1' look up the left path.

Roll #1 1 + 1 = 2

Andelia [druid] 428251

I shake my head "Its not my curiosity that makes me want to take the left path." I shake my head angrily "I'll follow your path, but if it turns out that your river path is a bust, we'll be too close to the water line for us to dig out.."

Campfire 428252

In the room up and to the left you can see three werewolves moving around some ropes, sheets, sleeping bags, andd other items. In a corner of the room are piles of saddlebags, packs, pouches, sacks, and other things. In addition to the path you shot your soul through there is a another tunnel leading down and to the right.

You grab a jar of fireflies from Bessy to give you more light, but drop it. The fireflys quickly escape and leave the party with one less light source.

Roll #1 5 = 5

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 428253

"That room has three werewolves in it. So, if we can conclude our argument, I believe we should take the path I chose."

Point Bessy down the right side, if she'd be so kind as to move.

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 428254

"Aiight, well good. Some verification is all I wanted."

Trot down the stairs.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 428255

"Well, they did say that anyone who was left over was either killed or joined them, sooo….maybe we should go down."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 428256

I frown at the fireflies flying away.

I nod and move down the right tunnel.

Andelia [druid] 428257

"Sorry.." I try to collect at least one back in the jar. '1d10+1'

Roll #1 10 + 1 = 11

Follow under

Olga [Lifebinder] 428262

Go with them.

"Wild Hunt…"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 428263

You're currently sharing buffalo space with Happyhorn, for the sake of speed.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 428264

"You got any ideas, golden oldie?"

Olga [Lifebinder] 428267

"The only idea I had would have been to flee before we even set foot here, but it is too late for that!"

Campfire 428268

Child of Gaia: passive; you gain a +1 bonus to rolls when fighting in natural environs (forests, natural caves, etc.)
You strike a match you find sticking out of Bessy's bags and lure the fireflies back to you, then stick them all into a jar.

Everyone roll a d10.

Wercreatures strike from your flanks and attack each of you before jumping out of counterattack range. One of them bites Bessy savagely on her leg.

No worries, Andy.
Both of you wind up at the back of the group when entering the cave and so are not hit during the ambush. There are two werwolves and one werwarg that is twice as large as the werwolves.

The werwarg grabs your neck in its powerful jaws and shakes you, then drags you pack as it retreats out of the range of your friends.
You have been grabbed. DC8 to escape and once free will have a -1 to all rolls until healed.

The werwarg continues to shake you like a rag doll. You can feel your skin and muscle tearing apart around its teeth.

In the future remember to say how many targets you are attacking with explosive shot.
You fire an explosive bolt right into the middle of them. Both werwolves are knocked off their feet and and the werwarg is shaken, but maintains its grip on Muddy.

You focus on a healing spell and feel your strength return to you. Hornbeard and your wolf rush forwards. Hornbeard trips over a rock and bloodies his nose against the ground, and your wolf smashes into the werwarg and knocks it to the ground. Despite that, it maintains its grip on Muddy.

Everyone who is not currently Helpless is now protected from Helplessness for three turns.

You fry one of the werwolves with your lightning.

You shoot another one with a ball of streamers and festive tablecloths.

Muddy is now bolstered.

You stab the werwarg with your spear. The silver sears the flesh it punctures but the werwarg does not let go of Muddy.

Roll #1 1, 9, 9 = 19

Campfire 428313

You stab the monster in the neck and the flesh around the blade starts to bubble. The werwargs wines in pain, but does not let go of Muddy.

You try to aim a shot at the warg, but one of the werewolves scrambles back to its paws and leaps onto Brutus's back, clawing at you.

There is a small pink flash and you feel your bruises disappear.

You slam your shield into the werwargs side and are rewarded by the sound of breaking ribs. Blood flows out of its mouth and onto Muddy's neck, but it refuses to die or let go.

You fire your crossbow at the werwolf on Brutus's back. the bolt pierces all the way through the werwolf and knocks it off of the fuzzy bull.

The small room fills with smoke.
+1 to all attacks for the next five turns.

You slip free of the werwargs jaws and stand up. Blood pours out of your neck and down your front legs.

One of the werwolves pounces on Hornbeard and digs into his gut with its jaws. Your undead wolf bits down on the werwarg's neck and pulls, ripping out its throat in a spray of blood. Because the werwarg is dead you start beating the werwolf attacking Hornbeard until it collapses.

Muddy's neck glows pink as the damage repairs itself and the bite vanishes. Muddy's rolls are no longer at -1.

The werwolf convulses and catches fire as it dies.

The last werwolf leaps at you and bites an unprotected area of your neck.

You lower your head and charge at the werwolf hanging off Brutus's neck; diving and sliding along the ground so that you do not hit him. The werwolf is caught on your horns and smushed against the wall of the room.

You mix up a quick potion and pour it over Hornbeard's wounds then help him to his hooves. they quickly stitch themselves shut.

Your wolf collapses as the spirit possessing it moves to the werwarg. Blood drips from the large hole in its neck ass it stands up and walks over to you.

Combat ends as the last wercreature dies.
Bessy, your wounded leg festers and burns. Muddy, your bite, while healed, continues to burn under your skin. Hornbeard doubles over and looks like he is about to be sick.

Your third eye cannot see any false walls here. It cannot see a river either, so going with what you have seen so far this is obviously not the way out.

You focus on thoughts of the sun, but it flashes silver. The skin where you were bit prickles as thick, grey fur grows from it.

He just shakes his head and stays doubled over.

You focus on your healing spell and thoroughly heal Bessy's leg, removing the wound and the curse. Charged with healing magic you see Muddy's condition get worse, although not incurably so. Despite what you have seen, you cannot muster the strength to heal him right away.
For you healing Muddy's neck is DC6 instead of DC8 like it now is for everyone else.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 428347

"Man…I hope you can keep doin' that through the night."

Pomelo [Preacher] 428348

"There! All better! At least I think so.."
Pat both of them on the back

The party has just defeated two werwolves and one warwarg. The healers saw to the wounded and saw the price of them slacking or failing in their duties as Muddy Morass sprouted thick, grey fur from a bite wound. They were able to fix the problem, however. Aside from the party and the corpses the cave is empty. Up and to the left lies the main tunnel, and further up and to the left lies a large room where Dreamkicker mentioned seeing four werwolves messing with several items and saddlebags.

The party has until dawn, still many hours away, to escape the caves and the werwolves. If they fail, the consequences could be dire.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 430321

Hmm. Wonder if those were the lycans from the other hallway, or if this was a separate ambush.
"Let's keep moving."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 430322

"Looks like we have to, huh…"

Pomelo [Preacher] 430323

There wasn't anything of interest in this room, right?

Roll #1 7 = 7

Andelia [druid] 430326

"Of course we will have to fight them. "

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 430327

"Well, we could just sit here until morning comes and fight all of the wargs and wereponies until we're overrun, but I get the feeling we'd rather hoof it before we get bogged down."
"Only if we walk into a trap."

Andelia [druid] 430328

I nod "Maybe we can dig our way to the underground river you all wanted to take?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 430329

"That's awfully pessimistic, Andelia."

"Then let's leave this room and go back to the main corridor."

Campfire 430330

Absolutely nothing. It is completely barren.

There is nothing in here except the party and the corpses.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 430331

"And if these weren't the three I heard earlier, then they're still up there, so be careful."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 430332

"Dig to an underground river? That sounds really hard…"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 430333

"It appears I was wrong about the weapons. Perhaps something is interfering with my magic."

"And unlikely to yield much in the way of results before our captors choose to attack."

Back to the corridor!

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 430334

"Yeah, we're under a mountain. Last time I checked, only a diamond dog could hope to do that."

Andelia [druid] 430335

"pessimistic or realistic, they told up up front they would try to hunt us. as part of their game."

Pomelo [Preacher] 430336

I bounce after him!

Bessy [Soothsayer] 430337

Onwards to the corridor!
Are you still riding on me?

Andelia [druid] 430338

"you're the one who wanted to go to an underground river and not fight anyone. I don't see a way to get there from here." I turn away my cheeks a little red. as I follow

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 430339

Yes, I think so

"Well, yes, and Pommy always says that he intends to clean up my library, but that doesn't mean it actually gets done. Particularly when I hide some of the books."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 430340

"To be fair, they had no reason to lie. And if they're half as wolf-like as they seem, they'll be tracking us by scent. So let's make haste to any sort of water so we can throw them off."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 430341

"I'm pretty sure there's more than just wolves out there looking for us."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 430342

"Well, that's probably true, but it's safe to assume they'd probably be traveling in groups, and each one probably has at least one tracker."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 430343

"I'm not suggesting that they are lying when they say they plan on hunting us. I am saying that we might avoid them if we are skilled and careful and quick."

Pomelo [Preacher] 430344

"Hey, I clean up page by page!"

I nod.
"Right! So we should hurry and try not to smell so they can't find us!"

Campfire 430345

The party returns to the main corridor. It runs north and south, staying level in both directions. To the right is a tunnel that leads downwards which goes to the room you all just came from. To the left there is a tunnel that goes upwards and leads to a room the party has not yet visited.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 430346

Well, we originally came in from the south, right? So we go north. Or vice versa, if we came from the north.

Pomelo [Preacher] 430347

I point north
"I don't think Dreamy saw anything bad this way…"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 430348

"The room I saw with the werewolves did have a tunnel leading further down. It might be the only way to get futher down into the caves, but perhaps not."

Andelia [druid] 430349

"Let's keep going straight."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 430350

"So where we goin' DK?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 430351

"It's our only lead right now."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 430352

"Well, do you want to get into another fight, or do you want to go as long as possible without a fight?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 430353

"Can we go a little longer without having to fight something?"

Andelia [druid] 430354

"We can try if we go straight."

Pomelo [Preacher] 430355

"Then let's hurry and stop smellin' up the place with our trackable-by-wolfies sniffables!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 430356

The party follows the path as it curves to the left. Ahead it continues to curve, but to the right. To the left there is a tunnel leading up. To the right there is a tunnel leading down. The party can hear the sound of dripping water coming from the left tunnel.

You cannot see any traps, but there is a room up and to the left with two entrances. Inside it are a werbear and three werwolves. There is water dripping from the ceiling. Farther ahead, although you cannot see where, there are six werlions coming down the main tunnel. They will arrive in several turns, and now that you know they are coming you will know to listen for them.

"The hall on the left goes up a bit into a room with more of them. I say we take the right corridor, quickly."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 430361

"Dripping water? Does that have anything to do with the underground river?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 430362

Oh, and do I know anything of geology that might tell me why there's water dripping from the ceiling?

Campfire 430367

Just dripping water.

Geology? Pffft, yeah right. The professor was an asshole so you dropped the class on the first day and found another one to satisfy the required credit. Maybe there are stalactites in there. Some of the pictures of caves you have seen have had drippy stalactites.

You keep your eyes on the floor to keep from tripping or slipping as the tunnel loops down to the right. You stop when you come to the bottom of it and find that it now starts to go upwards.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 430368

"All right already, just don't want to meet another cave party down here. Let's go, big man."

Andelia [druid]
