LAST TIME:
The party bravely and boldly ventured out to the Wasteland, only to find an underground tunnel heading towards the Fortress of High Trotgar, made by a strange insects.
They didn't have the guts to explore all of after encountering some of it's guardians, and went back to the Fort to tell Commander Grit about these news.
Report in, players.

You stand in front of Commander Grit, next to him standing Advisor Golden Words.
Grit speaks up.
"I have heard some bits of information about your mission. I have been told that the Stone family is dead. As sad as that is, I don't give a flying crap about it. Tell me about that tunnel, how long did it go? Are you sure it was headed towards here? Did you see any way to neutralize it or those damned bugs that were digging it?"

After that, he looks at the big pony in armor by the Judge.
"Sergant Colos, state your business!"

The officer glances at Feldspar, then looks him in the eye.
"Sir the Judge requested me to follow him, sir!"

Hearing that the Commander grits his teeth, then says.
"Dismissed. Wait for him outside. I'll have some words with the Judge after we cleared this mess up."

He looks back at you.
"Well, don't just stand there, report already!"

No.42975

"Well, I'd like to report that you are a heartless pony for saying that! Children died down there!"

No.42976

>>42974
Collapse the tunnel maybe? We need explosives.

No.42977

>>42974
"The likelihood of the tunnels reaching the fortress were great, taking into account the direction and shape of the part we explored. It is reinforces with some form of secretion from the worker drones, but it should not be impossible to collapse with some explosives or a few brave diggers. Indeed it should be possible to cave the roof in to flood the tunnel by using the river.
I highly discourage direct confrontation with the bugs. Even our fair strike team had problems with just a few.
That is all."

No.42982

>>42976

"Using the River could backfire if they already reached under us. We'll need someone to get in there, plant the explosives and blow them straight back to the sorry hole they came from."
He turns to the Golden Words, who was listening to the stories with a worried expression.
"Advisor, go down to the Docks and tell the Explosives team they might have some work to do in the Wastes tomorrow."

"Right away, sir!" He nods, then says goodbye to the party, hurring out of the room.

Grit speaks up again.
"Tell me more about these bugs. How dangerous are they? Weapons? Armor? Weaknesses? I'd like to believe you are at least useful as a source of information."

>>42975
"I'm not heartless, but you can't fix dead. I'm not going to weep over a dead family when whole Trotgar could be at danger."

>>42979
Not much happened yet, jump in

No.42985

>>42982
Well the eyes are a weak spot.

No.42986

>>42982
"These creatures, commander, come in varying sizes. The smallest, which I deduct are worker drones that do the actual digging, are weak and cowardly, posing no threat to ponies.
It is the larger type, a sort of guardian if you will, that I caution you about. Even our valiant buffalo faced problems with the great insect beasts. They have large claws and poisonous stingers, as well as hides as tough as plate mail. They are also incredibly resilient, still coming at us after losing several large bodyparts. To make things worse, the tunnels are tight and hard to work in, making overwhelming them almost impossible.
One thing we did not have a chance to try was fire."

No.42987

>>42982
"I'm not asking you to weep, I'm just asking to not discard their deaths like nothing. As for the bugs, they were quite enduring and had sharp claws. Going in unarmored is inadvisable."

>>42986
"Damn those bastards sound bad… I guess you aren't a worthless bunch if you managed to survive that. I'll have to send out an explosives team tomorrow to collapse those tunnels. You have experienced what they are capable of, you can join to help them with their work, but we still need some ponies to investigate in the town, ponies that are not from the guard. I don't want to see your faces first thing in the morning, so I'll have you decide what you want to do now."

>>42987
"Going unarmored into the Wasteland is suicide, filly. And I didn't disregard their deaths, they simply not of concern now that we face a bigger threat. They were stupid to live out there alone anyway. I told them it's dangerous when Eustace's farm was destroyed, but they had to stay. Now that the Stones are dead, only the Picks remain stupid enough to live out there."

No.42992

>>42988
"I was hoping you'd protect me in battle, stalwart ranger~

Either way, the bugs are very dangerous and hard to fight in close quarters like those tunnels."

No.42994

No.42996

"Now now commander, such an outburst. I merely assured you I am a capable leader who you can trust your soldiers with. Why are you getting so confrontational all of a sudden? Is that any way for an officer to act?

But if you indeed require a more thorough explanation, a judge does not operate solo. You might have noticed I am not a young pony by anyone's standards, and I assumed a trained officer like yourself would have understood that I require escorts to assure my safety. Seeing as how that much was clear as day to anyone with eyes, I saw fit to recruit this one as a temporary assistant. You assured us you were very busy, so I saw it fit not to bother you with distractions like official requests or paperwork.
Or an I somehow mistaken about your workload? Would you indeed prefer I come here and ask you every time I need something? Because I can do that, but it will only be a waste of everyone's time."
