Somnambula has finished translating the book.
You also all gain access to 1 skill point for beating the Carnival.

"This book speaks of two witches. His master, Rotunda the Poxmother, takes up most of it. It was by her hand that these spells were first born, and through his that they were refined.
There are also some mentions to another witch, Catrina, who he was seeking at one point, but gave up the effort."

461826

>>461819
I'll take Tumble.

"I think we should take out Rotunda first. I don't want a repeat of this carnival."

461827

I will take Tumble.

"Info on where they might be hiding?"

461829

>>461819
"I've heard of both. Rotunda will probably be easier to find."

461830

>>461819
I'll keep it for now.
"Does it mention anything about where they are?"

461831

>>461829
Oh, and I'll keep it floating for now.

461832

>>461819
I'm spending that on Bolster.

461833

>>461827
>tumble
I meant Misogi.

"Rotunda is mentioned to have taken residence, at least at time of writing, in Misery Mire. Due southwest of here.
Sadly I'm not too well versed about those lands. I know they are dreary, dank and dark, and I think there is a town there by the name of Privilege. Built there by some rich merchant because the land was so cheap, I hear."

461835

>>461834
I look at Danner.
"What should we do then?"

461837

>>461834
"Looks like we have our next tartet then.
To Misery Mire!"

461838

>>461835
"You don't need a mandate to figure out the connection there. Misery Mire is made for a plague witch."

461839

>>461834
"A mire? Oh well."

461840

>>461838
"I suppose so.
When shall we leave?"

461842

>>461840
"As soon as we are able. It never hurts to be prepared though."

461846

>>461842
"I've still got enough shots of my machines for everyone in this party, that's all I need."

461848

>>461842
Somnambula hands the book back
"Why not take a detour via the capital then, and report to your Inquisitor Lords?
Or perhaps you have closer outposts too. I wouldn't know.
In any case, if this was all, this is where our paths split. Maybe the carnival can help you along further if you need help."

461852

>>461846
"I'm about as ready as I'll ever be."

>>461848
I shake my head at her in disapproval.

461853

>>461848
"Sounds like a plan."

You leave behind Somnambula and her carnival, and head due southeast, towards Misery Mire and the town of Privilege.

If you feel the need to stock up for the road ahead, you can visit the town that the carnival stopped near.

461895

>>461889
How much cash to I have in addition to my hundred crowns?

461897

>>461889
Maybe I should stock up on food, if I still got enough money.
But nothing more.

461900

>>461889
Not at all.
I can just eat grass and flowers if I need food.

461903

>>461895
Considering you were resorting to pickpocketing before getting it, I'd wager not much.
Also none was found on you when you got searched.
>>461900
Yeah lets see how well that turns out
>>461897
Really I'm just asking because you can get some info there if you want it now and not later.

461908

>>461903
What are you implying?

461912

>>461908
Whatever he is implying, I'm not letting you eat possible contaminated plants.

>>461903
Okay, but off-screen I bought some water, some vegetables and hay.
Look around for someone who looks like he knows things about the Mire '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

461913

>>461873
Excuse me, but who do you think you're impersonating.

461918

>>461912
Indeed you run into an old familiar face. The Ringmaster
"Misery Mire? Headed to Privilege then, are you?
My carnival toured there once."

461922

>>461918
"Ringmaster, what a coincidence.
What brings you here?"

461923

>>461903
I will keep my money then.
"I have everything I need. Let's go."

461927

>>461922
Oh wait how silly of me.
We're still near the Carnival.
Scrap that.

"You did, anything you could tell us about it?"

461929

>>461897
>>461895
"If you want, you can turn in the bounty for this guy."

461933

Also, DM I'm going to get Phase Aura with that skill point.

461938

>>461927
"It's rather… unique. Indeed the place was almost split in half. One half owned by the rich, the other by their workers and servants.
The rich area was spacious and remarkably nice for the landscape, while the poor areas were cramped and more fitting a place called Misery Mire.
We did not stay for many nights, but had many guests, rich and poor."
>>461933
Remember to update your sheet

461943

>>461938
"That must cause a lot of tensions between the two classes?"

461951

>>461929
"I want that very much. Where do I do it?"

461958

>>461943
"If it did, we did not notice. The poor worked for the rich for the most part, and guards kept things peaceful."

461961

>>461958
"Interesting. Were there any tales of witches when you were there?"

461979

>>461961
"I don't really recall any, unless you wanted to mock the less fortunate looking rich folk. Like that fat short old lady who owned the run down castle in the mire.
I'd laugh but if I owned a dump like that I'd be pretty haggard too."

461981

>>461951
"We need to find a town big enough for a watch. Obviously this guy managed to avoid getting a bounty on his head, but we do offer a finder's fee for any unknown hedge wizards."

461984

>>461979
"I see. This might come in useful.
Thanks, mister Ringmaster."

461989

>>461981
"Would that Mire place have one?"

461991

>>461989
"They might, but I doubt it. If it's merchant run, it might have been overlooked. No telling how deep Rotunda has her fingers in it as well."

461992

>>461984
"No problem.
I only wish I could offer more."

461993

>>461992
I walk away again.

461994

"Hmm. We should stop by whatever town you humans keep your kings in to get the bounty before someone else does."

462003

>>461993
>>461994
>>461991
You can probably flag down a few Inquisitorial scouts in town if you want to go look for them

462006

>>462003
Wasn't I pretty much the only one left here?

462015

>>462003
I'm waiting until we leave for the witch.
I'll claim my bounty later.

462019

>>462006
This is a different town than the one you all started in.

462021

>>462006
"Are there any Inquisitors in town?"

462039

>>462021
"I'm not sure. We could go look for some if you want."

462042

>>462039
"Yes, please."

462045

>>462042
>>462003
And off I go to look and quickly get the bounty.

462046

>>462042
Well then, let's see if we can find something.

Roll #1 3 = 3

462051

>>462046
I guess not.

462054

Fucking autoupdate.

>>462015

462055

>>462054
"Did you hear that, Dusty?
Sounds like a peculiar place…"

462057

>>462055
"Things like that don't last. One day the poor folk will get sick of it and start a huge revolt."

462058

>>462057
"Unless the witch that book talks about is on the side of the rich…"

462060

>>462045
>>462046
>>462051
Looks like the scouts have moved on.
So should you.
The trip to Privilege will take at least a day on foot

462061

>>462060
Time to move.

462063

>>462060
Moving moving moving.

462064

>>462060
Then let's go.

462065

>>462060
Journey of a thousand miles, starting with a single step. Let's get the rest of those steps done with.

462066

>>462058
"She helps them out and in return they leave her alone. That sounds like a possibility."

462074

It is a lonely road, but at least it should be rather safe.
Roll to make the trip safe an uneventful.
Collective MIN20 to make it to nightfall without anything special happening.
You may choose to roll a die smaller than 1d10 if you want shit to distract you.

"Ruins! A ridge! Let's go!"
I take off and climb down the cliffs.
[1d10+1]

462102

>>462091
Bah, ruins. Nothing good but only trouble it wi…..

>>462094
>>462095
I just frown as they go on ahead. Let us observe first what will happen before I follow.

462106

>>462096
Must be old, since it has clearly not seen any upkeep in ages. They also hold no notable historical value, so this was probably built for some long since passed war that did not end up being all that remarkable.
>>462094
>>462095
>>462098
You can hear some rustling in the nearby bushes, and see faint smoke trails from campfires near the ruins

462111

I use Stealth and investigate the bushes.

462113

"Need a ride, little pony? Climbing might be difficult for one your size."

462115

>>462106
Hmm. Ideal for hiding in. I go after the others.

"What do you see?"

462116

>>462106
Well now, this is getting exciting.
Try to take a closer look at the campfires.

>>462106
Uh oh. Hide in a cloud!

Roll #1 10 = 10

462133

>>462113
"Uhhmm… well that would certainly help."
I then go next to him and wait.
"Please."

462137

>>462133
I'll squat down and motion to my back.
"I will likely be easier if you hang on that way."
I'll readjust my satchel so that it provides at least a little footing for Snow.

462138

>>462137
Climb his back and just scrunched
"So the idea is to stay in the ruins for the night?"

462144

>>462138
"So it seems."
Now, let's carefully climb down. '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

462145

>>462111
It seems there are some bandits here… lying in wait. They seem to have noticed >>462118 the good doctor.
>>462121
From up here you can see that indeed the ruins are populated by a band of bandits.
…all of them men, though not all human.

462146

>>462145
Have I noticed they noticed me?

462147

>>462145
What do you mean not all of them human? Capra? Ponies?
Hmmm… Get my mecha limb to Sharpen my sword.

Roll #1 9 + 1 = 10

462155

>>462145
I'll sneak up behind one that's a bit separated from the others. Once I am behind him I'll hold my hand over his mouth and my knife to his throat.
"Hello there. Lovely day, isn't it?"
[1d10]

Roll #1 10 = 10

462176

>>462146
Nope. You are oblivious to the danger.
>>462147
Some capras, some ponies, a big hork…
And your sword gets downright DEADLY.
>>462155
He freezes up
"where did you come from?"

462179

>>462176
Can I sneak up next to the others?

Roll #1 10 = 10

462180

>>462176
Oh my, I might make a good spy.
Getting so close and not being noticed!
Do I notice anything more now? '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

462184

>>462176
Alright, just wait for the others to make their move. Keep an eye on the doc.

462185

>>462176
"The shadows. Why don't you tell me a little about yourself and your friends? I can be very friendly if me and mine aren't threatened."
What race is he?

462208

>>462179
Easily.
You're trained to do this sort of shit.
>>462180
It seems the bushes have eyes…
>>462185
He's one of the capras
"We live here. Just us. We sometimes raid caravans or rob travelers.
I just do as asked, ok? Hammer is the boss around here, not me."

462211

>>462208
"I would hate to have to kill another Capra. How about we all get through here unmolested, okay?"

462213

>>462208
>>462144
So since the colt wizard and I have made it safely down to the ground, we should probably catch up with the others. '1d10' to catch up with the one I can see, which would be the doctor.

Roll #1 4 = 4

462220

>>462211
"I'm not really in a position to argue, am I? Look, if you want, I can tell them to let you into the camp."
>>462213
You see the doctor, but no sign of anything being wrong

462222

>>462208
Excellent. I'll continue to keep watch from above. No reason to intervene just yet.

462223

>>462220
>>462180
"What are you doing running off by yourself, doctor? The place may look abandoned, but we don't know what sort of beast may have made it a home."

462226

>>462220
"Good enough."

462227

>>462208
That's not right.
Investigate the bushes '1d10'

>>462223
"Shh, there's something in the bushes…but I don't think it has seen me yet."

Roll #1 6 = 6

462231

>>462223
Just cling to him.

>>462227
"There's people here!?" I whispered quietly.

462236

>>462227
I'll raise an eyebrow.
"You stick out like a sore thumb, though."
I'll cast another glance around. '1d10'
>>462231
"There might be. Be ready to defend yourself."

Roll #1 3 = 3

462237

>>462231
"I don't know." I say not so quietly."

>>462236
"Don't worry. I don't think they've seen us."

462239

>>462226
"Then would you mid letting me go?"
>>462236
Can't see shit captain, except that the sun is setting.

462241

462242

>>462239
I let go of him and move back into hiding.

462243

>>462242
"What's the word?"

462248

>>462243
"We are getting into camp."

462251

>>462227
You run face to face with a group of bandits!
However >>462242 one of them, a capra, tells the rest to put their weapons away. This is no place for a fight.

He then clears his throat and points towards the ruined fort
"I can take you to meet the boss if you'd like a safe place to sleep."
He keeps glancing behind himself, looking rather spooked

462254

>>462251
Well, well.
"How very… hospitable of you."

462256

>>462251
Oh I'm staying in my cloud for now.

462259

>>462251
>>462254
I just frown.
"You think we will fall for that?!"

>>462254
"Lets get out of here, dont listen to them!"

462260

>>462251
"How nice of you!
I hope I didn't spook you, I have quite a talent for being unnoticed besides being a doctor."

462262

>>462248
"Huh."

>>462251
"Awfully considerate of you. You're not planning anything untoward?"

462263

>>462260
"No… it wasn't you."
>>462254
"We can be most reasonable, bandits or not.
I doubt either party has much to gain from unnecessary combat."

462267

>>462262
"That's more up to our boss, Hammer. He's the one who makes the calls."

462268

>>462263
"Quizical statement. But I suppose I won't ask further.
Please lead the way, mister."

462270

>>462263
I'll nod.
"Especially since those who don't flee would find that a bandit's life doesn't exactly end rewardingly."

462271

>>462263
"No. We're not after your type, provided we keep everything we came in here with."

>>462267
"Well then should we be talking with him?"

462275

>>462262
"I can be persuasive when I have to be."

462292

The capra leads you into the ruins, past some sentries that guards the remains of the drawbridge leading to he main gate. Or the framework of one. The gate itself is long since gone.

Inside the ruin walls, which, though broken, are still tall and offer great protection, is a camp of tents. Some bonfires offer light, and several bandits, all of them apparently male, huddle around them, cooking meals, drinking and laughing.
One tent stands out in particular as it's bigger and made of tusks and hides rather than canvas like the rest.
Some parts of the fort are also still standing, like the rear gatehouse and parts of the old central building and tower.

462296

>>462292
I look around.
"Do women not take to a life of crime, or is being in the middle of nowhere around so many men what scares them off?"

462297

>>462292
"What a jolly band!"

462300

>>462292
I'll keep quiet, but stay alert.

462305

>>462300
>>462292
Same as Red.

462316

>>462296
"Lets just say nobody here is all that big into women.
Least of all Hammer.
Though some keep insisting Cudgel is a woman, but I never bought that talk."

462324

>>462316
I cock an eyebrow.
"Oh really? How interesting. What can you tell me about hammer?"

462328

>>462316
"Oh wow. Most interesting."

462334

>>462316
"Well your leader seems responsible enough It seems. I take it you dont hurt women and escort them safely I hope."

462348

>>462324
"Big, burly, had a rough history with women and now preaches about how bad they are for you.
Fan of wood carving, too. But that fact's hard to miss."
>>462328
"…it is?"
>>462334
"Depends on the day and mood and whatnot.
We have it good out here. We don't want to make so much noise we get the royal army here to clean us out. So we offer a fair trade. Give up your money, and there will be no trouble."

462349

>>462316
"Huh. Policy or preference?"

462355

>>462348
"Wood carving? well, everyone needs a hobby. What about Cudgel?"

462358

>>462349
He shrugs
"Well I always liked nights out with the lads more myself."
>>462355
"What about Cudgel? He's loud and likes to show off. I think it's because he feels insecure for some reason. Usually likes to sleep atop the tower."

462360

>>462348
"Well it's not every day one sees a brotherhood like this without struggles.
Lots of men would lose it after some time being seperated from women like that."

462362

>>462358
"Oh. Were we meeting Hammer or not?"

462365

>>462348
I scrunch.
"Bandits indeed."

>>462349
>>462355
>>462360
I whisper.
"I dont feel safe here, lets get out while we have still time.

462370

>>462365
"Give us a chance to work something out."

462375

>>462365
"Patience. Don't judge someone by their looks!"

462378

>>462365
I shrug.

462379

>>462362
He points at the fancy tent
"That's his."

462383

>>462379
"Alrighty."
I walk into the tent.

462387

>>462379
Keep stalking from my cloud.

462390

>>462379
I walk in.
"Hello, good sir."

462392

>>462379
>>462383
>>462390
I just huff before walking inside along with them

462393

462408

>>462383
>>462390
>>462393
>>462392
A mountain of a man wearing a huge horned skull, a cape of furs, some belts and a wolf torn in half as a loincloth looks up from the large wooden statue his carving with his axe and turns around.
As he stands up, it becomes evident that he towers above all of you.
"Yes?"

462410

>>462408
Hide behind Red and let the grown ups speak with this man.

462412

>>462408
I give a polite, theatrical bow.
"A charming capra told us we could spend the night here."

462416

>>462408
"Hello good sir."

462419

>>462408
I just size him up, but say nothing.

He is always so eager to avoid conflict and make peace with any threats he meets. Then, at times he is right.
It is rare indeed to see an Inquisitor in these parts, for one, so I take it you are no ordinary band of travelers.
Perhaps we can, indeed, come to a solution that will be both beneficial and harmless to us all."

462427

>>462426
"That sounds like an excellent idea."

462429

>>462426
"What did you have in mind?"

462431

>>462426
"These are troubling times for many."

462447

>>462431
"And how. You know something must be going wrong when Privilege stops moving any trade caravans."
>>462427
>>462429
"Well, as mighty as my lads are, we aren't the only bandits in these lands. And quite frankly the petty rivalries between bands are bad for us all.
If you could go meet up with my… rival of sorts, Mulan of the Rouge Rogues, and… convince her to stay up north where she belongs, I think we could all become great friends.
Of course, I'd need some proof of the deed being done."

462450

>>462447
"What a coincidence. We are traveling there right now."

462452

>>462447
"A written surrender, or a head?"

462456

>>462452
"Cut off the head and one of those other cavernous snakes will grow to take its place.
Why don't you cut off her tits or something, bring those back? That should send a message."

462458

>>462456
I just frown upon hearing this.

462461

>>462456
"That seems like rather much you're asking for simply allowing us to sleep here for a night."

462462

>>462456
"Or make things worse. A woman are angry enough without cutting off their tits."

462469

>>462462
"Let's just call it payback."
>>462461
"Or you know, we can all go burn down her camp together. Have a gay old time.
But if you aren't the killer types, I suppose I could settle for something else. Namely, a certain book."

462476

>>462469
"A book? What kind of book?"

462477

>>462469
"What book?"

462478

>>462469
"A charming story, I'm sure. But what exactly do you want from them?"

462480

>>462469
"Book? What book?" I raise an eyebrow.

462482

>>462476
>>462477
>>462480
"A very special book of spells, written by an apprentice sorcerer. It is said to be a liberal translation of Witchtongue, and that it grants great knowledge and power to any that read it.
I would love to have a book like that. And last I heard, it was being kept at the castle in Misery Mire."
>>462478
"I want them to back off trying to move in on my southlands. Bandit wars are not good for anyone, bandit or bystander."

462484

>>462482
"Frankly, a book like that would be far better off in state hands."

462485

>>462482
"Hmmm. Our inquisitor might not agree with that."

462486

>>462482
"That sounds like a deal?
But the Mire is such a long way.
I suppose you could let us spend the night here right? Before we leave?"

462490

>>462482
>>462484
"Why, Frankly I'd like it better in my hands."

462491

>>462484
>>462490
"I doubt it holds anything that would interest a real mage, since it was made by an apprentice. I'm mostly curious if it's true that it works for anyone."
>>462486
"Perhaps.
If you can pay for it."

462494

>>462490
"Not a chance."

>>462491
"You're not really making a good case for yourself here. Thank you for the information, but I think we'll be on our way."

462495

>>462482
my eyes gleam.

>>462490
>>462486
>>462485
>>462484
"I'd like it better if we own that."

462498

>>462491
"I'm getting confused here.
What exactly was it you were going to give us in return for that book?
Because I was under the impression it was spending the night here?"

462499

>>462491
"I thought the book was payment."
I shake my head.
"Enough talk of books and killing. Perhaps there is another way a night here could be payed for?"
I take a suggestive step forwards.

462500

>>462495
"I would have preferred we had our own witch, but you will do in a pinch."
>>462498
"Obviously it was in exchange for our lives and possessions. He is a bandit, after all."

462501

>>462500
"In that case, I'm quite sure we do not have to make a deal.
We are quite capable of keeping our lives and posessions."

462504

>>462498
"I could offer further help in the future, were you so kind as to help me expand my collection.
I know many things and places, and can guarantee your safety on the roads of the south."

462505

>>462501
"Says the one who walked straight into an ambush convinced he was undetected."

462510

>>462505
"Maybe I was wrong about that.
Suffice to say, I could have handled myself in combat."

>>462504
"Tempting. Very tempting. I shall have to talk with my companions about this."

462516

>>462510
I'll just shrug.

462518

462520

>>462499
He raises a brow
"Many ways. Gold. Food. Company."

462521

>>462520
"I can do company."

462522

>>462516
"We don't all fight in the same way. I'm sure you're a far greater fighter That doesn't mean I don't have a few tricks up my sleeve if worst came to worst, Master Red.
What do you think of the bandits offer?"

462527

>>462520
"What kind of company are you talking about?"

462528

>>462522
"If they try to take from me anything I'm not willing to give, then they will find themselves worse off for it. And there is little in the way of gold or food I can offer. What I assume their definition of company is is also off the table. Therefore all I have for them is their lives."

462529

>>462520
"Knowledge, if you dont offer that then I dont know if you have anything that can satisfy my needs." I just close my arms grumpily.

462533

>>462527
He puts on a little smile and sits down heavily on his soft, fur covered bed
"Why don't you stay and find out?"
>>462529
"I know much about many things, little one. But I thought you wanted to rest."
>>462521
"Excellent~"

462538

>>462529
"You don't want the knowledge he's offering, little pony."

462539

>>462528
"I see. In that case I don't think wee can make a deal."
I look at the Capra.
"Unless the capra is covering the charge?"

462540

>>462527
>>462528
>>462529
"Go find us a place to sleep."

462548

>>462540
"…."
I just walk out of the tent.

462549

>>462533
"In this place? I doubt it?"
I then yawn.
"Though rest does sound good."

>>462538
Just raise an eyebrow
"Any knowledge is welcome, I doubt he has any knowledge of the arcane arts but if he does its worth trading spells, or pillaging it if I can." I then yawn again.

462550

>>462533
"Yes, keep wasting more of my time, bandit. I'm sure we're known for our patience."

>>462540
"Are you serious?"

462552

>>462540
I'll nod slightly.
"Are there any rooms not in use? A corner will do if none are available."
>>462549
I'll pick you up.
"He doesn't want to teach spells, little pony."
And then we'll head out of the tent.

462554

>>462550
"I'm expecting payment from all of you later. Payment of a more shiny sort."
I toss you my stuff.
"If anything is missing I'll be taking it from your purse."

>>462533
"Are we doing this now, or are you going to wine and dine me?"

462559

>>462554
"You sure you don't need….protection?"

462560

>>462552
"Who knows." Just snuggle as he carries me off.

462561

>>462554
"Feisty, aren't you?
How very refreshing."

462563

>>462554
I throw up my arms.
"Whatever. This nonsense is getting reported as soon as I get out of this podunk region."

>>462559
"His goat hole, his choice. Don't bother."

462564

>>462559
"You're a doctor of the magical sort, aren't you? If I catch anything I'm sure you can make it right."

>>462561
"Feisty? Wait until I get on top."

>>462563
"Whatever, Iggy. Just keep my stuff safe."

462565

>>462563
"Yes, but prevent….you know what, just do your thing."

I walk out.
Look for Dusty.

462567

>>462565
I have become one with the cloud. Dusty is gone, her mortal form changed beyond recognition into a soft looking cloud.

462568

>>462564
"Right, right. You're already losing enough as is."

462569

>>462568
"If you want to pay gold instead go right ahead."

462570

>>462567
Well, that seems more comfy than sleeping between a bunch of bandits.
I'll leave you there.

Go look for a place to sleep. '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

462571

>>462560
Pat pat.
Now, let's look for a suitable overhang or corner that doesn't expose us to the elements, or to the other bandits. '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

462576

>>462564
His massive hand grabs you by the tail
"You sure seem full of confidence. Let's see how long that lasts."
Roll to get to be on top

>>462570
>>462571
The safest bet would probably be the ruined tower, if you don't mind sharing the space with Cudgel.

Roll #1 5 = 5

462582

>>462576
How bad can it be?
Walk over.

462583

>>462576
…That is probably no place for a little colt. But it's not like I have any better ideas. If Cudgel tries something, he's dead, though.
To the tower.

462585

>>462582
>>462583
Is that your choice?"

462588

>>462576
"Longer than you, I bet."
[1d10+1]

Roll #1 4 + 1 = 5

462589

>>462585
"It can't be that bad…
Besides, now that that capra is paying for it, the least we could do is have a good nights sleep."

462590

>>462585
"Do we have much of a choice? We could try setting up our own tents, but I doubt they would be secure."

462592

>>462582
>>462583
There is one tent set up at the very top, with a small fire built in front of it.
A single bandit sits around up here, roasting a rabbit.
>>462588
It seems your agility is no match for his sheer size and power.
Prepare your anus

That's probably Cudgel. I'll let the doctor do the talking.

>>462590
Just rest.
"are we near?"

462597

>>462592
"Hello there. Mind if we spend the night here?"

462599

>>462589
I frown.
"We should be doing a lot more than our 'least'"

>>462590
"Probably."

462600

>>462599
"If we wanted to go on a rampage or something, it's a bit late now."

462603

>>462600
"Let's just be done with this night."

462605

>>462594
And what a good river you are~
'5d10'
>>462597
She turns around to look at you.
"Oh, you must be the lot who came in with Katar earlier."
Yeah… that… might be a she? Maybe?
A really… mannish she?

Roll #1 4, 3, 3, 6, 10 = 26

462607

>>462603
"Indeed we are.
Your leader has allowed us to stay here for the night.
I hope you don't mind if we sleep here."

462609

462612

>>462605
I'm not one to judge. S/he's probably got enough of that with the other bandits.

462614

>>462605
Not horse enough.

462618

>>462605
>>462594
"I will give it to you, Capra. You stood up to the test well…"
He gives you a friendly pat and lies back down, reaching for his pipe
"What's your name?"
>>462607
"Oh? Here?
I…
…go right ahead. Just keep your distance."

462619

>>462618
"Tityroi."
I grab something to eat and lie down too.
"Nice set up you got here."

462620

>>462618
"Certainly.
We wouldn't want to intrude upon your privacy."

Go sit a bit away from the fire on a bedroll.

462621

>>462618
I'll nod.
"Fair enough."
Is there a corner I could sit against? '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

462622

>>462618
I just sit down for the night.

462623

An inconspicuous cloud will stalk your location from the air.

462626

>>462623
I know.
I don't have to see it to know.

462628

>>462619
"It has kept us well fed and safe for many years. We are like family here. And it pains me to see any run away from us, like that one… traitor."
He clenches his fist a bit, but then just grins ans scoops you up onto his lap
>>462621
Several. There is even a lower floor that is entirely empty.

462630

>>462628
Grand. Go there, just beyond the door. Settle down in the corner, after making certain there are no spiderwebs '1d10', and then pull a blanket over myself and the now likely sleeping colt.

Roll #1 9 = 9

462631

>>462628
I snuggle into his lap and examine what parts of his outfit I can see. The furs are nice, I guess, but real clothing is better.
"Traitor? Tell me more."

462632

>>462628
I'll go sit in the corner and take a nap.

462633

>>462631
He left his loincloth wolf on the back of a chair, but kept the skull and cape.
"Enjoyed our hospitality for years that one. Then ran off into the night without a word."
>>462630
Must not be a lot to eat here for spiders. Aside from some dust and leaves the place is spotless.

462635

>>462633
"Any idea why?"

462636

>>462630
I wanted to sleep with the colt.

How many skill points to gain stasis or time exit?

462637

>>462633
Good. Settle and then keep the blanket around myself and the small pony. He is tiny, but warm, so he'll make an excellent ward against the night's chill.

462638

>>462635
"I guess he was just an ingrate."
He starts flicking your tail around with his finger
"Now, we still have a lot of night ahead of us, Tityroi."

463086

>>463075
You leap at the darkness and strike it.
You feel your blade impact on thick, dense flesh. As you pull it out, you can see some dark blood drip off it.
From the darkness, steps forth a great beast. As tall as a great warhorse and rider, and indeed not too dissimilar in appearance. It has the body of a mighty, muscular stallion, but in place of a head it has the body of a man with skin of midnight black, curved horns, and piercing, unblinking eyes.
It turns its gaze from Katar to you, and you can feel its voice inside your head, even though its mouth does not move.
WHERE LIES THE DARKNESS THAT IS THE MIRROR OF A MAN'S SOUL?

I take a few steps back.
"What are you and what are you doing here?"

463099

>>463086

463100

>>463086
Is my sword still sharpened?
"What?"

463104

>>463100
it is.
>>463091
You are terrified.
This is entirely understandable. That thing could probably break your spine with one arm.
>>463097
>>463099
Its lips do not move, but its gaze pierces your very souls as its reply booms through your heads like a roaring storm.
YOUR KIND HAS GIVEN ME MANY NAMES. SUCH AS THE NIGHT SEEKER.
I SEEK THE DEEPEST DARKNESS. THE FROZEN SHADOW. THE STONE OF MIDNIGHT.
A DARKNESS SO ABSOLUTE, IT REFLECTS NOT THE FACE OF A MAN, BUT HIS SOUL.
FOR MY MASTER NEEDS IT.
DO YOU HAVE IT?

463108

>>463104
"I've never heard of it, and I doubt some two-bit bandits would have it. It sounds like something witches would have."

463111

>>463104
"Wedon'thavethat."

463113

>>463122
"Who is your master?"

"I doubt you'll ask us to answer you over a cup of tea, am I right?"

"Tirek, Lord of Midnight." I nod "I will remember that."

463132

>>463130
"If you say so, Night Seeker."

463133

>>463130
I'll have to remember that.

463135

>>463122
"Well come back later then. All you are doing now is wasting everyone's time."

463141

>>463131
>>463132
GOOD.
>>463135
It turns its gaze back at Katar, who whimpers something almost inaudible.

The Night Seeker then crouches a little, and leaps high into the air, galloping away across the sky.
As it leaves, the moon and stars come back into view.
Katar covers his head and shivers.

463142

>>463141
I look at Katar.
"Why was it after you?"

463143

>>463141
Flutter back to my cloud and go to sleep again.

463145

>>463141
I sit down next to Katar and pat him on the back.
"There there, it's alright now."

"I… I know that thing it spoke about.
I've heard talk of it… I think I know where it might be… and… it knew I knew."
He points a trembling finger to the gatehouse ruin he ran from
"I was there… with a few others… and… he just appeared. Killed the others without so much as changing expression. Then got inside my head."

463152

>>463150
I put my arm over his shoulder and squeeze him closer.
"Tell us more about that thing it was after."

463156

>>463150
I frown "He killed them? He's that strong?"

463159

>>463156
"Well there were two. He threw one off the wall. Just kinda hit the other with the back of his hand. I think it broke his skull…"
>>463152
"It's some kind of… stone. A gem, perhaps. As tall as a man and as black as the night sky.
I heard some eccentric rich guy from Privilege bought it some time ago."

463166

>>463159
I look a bit scared. "And.. he's gonig to come back later?! What if we don't have the stone!?!"

463167

>>463159
"It's a good thing that's where we are going. How are we going to explain the deaths to Hammer?"

463173

>>463166
He just looks up at the now clear skies
"Let's hope that you do…"
>>463167
"Beats me. Do you think he'll buy a story about the Night Seeker all of a sudden just killing them both to get to me?"

463177

>>463173
"Maybe. Did you have any reason to kill them?"

463178

>>463173
aren't there any extra blankets here? '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

463179

>>463178
No.
Cudgel took two.
>>463177
"…no?
And do I look I could punch a man's skull in half?"

463183

>>463179
"Alright then, you should be safe. If you aren't you could tag along with us. I wouldn't mind not being the only goatman in the group, especially if you are just as sneaky as I am."

463184

>>463179
darn. I suppose I'll just lay next to Katar, he can use me as a blanket or something.

463191

>>463183
"…I could?
…I'd hate to leave the others behind but… your offer does sound terribly nice."

463195

>>463191
"The humans with us are a tolerant enough sort. Just explain what happened to hammer and why you want to leave so he doesn't send anyone after us."

463196

>>463179
Well that was disturbing.
I'll have lots to think about.
Is that fire of Cudgel still going?

463197

>>463196
It's kinda weak, but alive

463204

>>463197
Go sit next to it to warm myself a bit.
That gave me the shivers.

463216

463221

And so morning comes.
You all feel as rested as you can, and Hammer has agreed to let Katar come along with you to seek out the dark stone the Night Seeker wants.

Misery Mire and Privilege lie due south.
If you have no further desire to talk to anyone here, you can head out.

463222

463223

>>463221
I probably didn't sleep anymore after that.
Wash my face a bit in water and I'm ready to leave for privilige.

463225

>>463221
I check my shirt and belongings before leaving.

463228

"I've been to Privilege before, so I think I can show a decent route there."

463246

>>463221
Okay.

1 point for Time Exit?

463248

>>463239
I nod at this.
"Looks like these guys are not that bad at all it seems."

463250

>>463248
"Don't judge anyone by their looks."

463253

>>463246
Yes, if you want it to work like Stealth.
You can refine it later for additional power.

463258

>>463245
Oh? What's the gift?
I thank Hammer before leaving with my friends.

463259

>>463245
Just follow in silence.

463263

>>463250
"hmmm… fair enough, intuition is a must now that I think about it."

>>463245
Look at him.
"Where will you take us?"

463267

>>463253
I want to be able to, say, use time exit in the middle of a fight and turn things in our favour in an instant, like a time stop. So I guess I'll spend more points refining it later.

463279

>>463258
It's a little polished wood carving depicting a stylized man in robes standing atop two boulders.
>>463267
For one point, it only works as Stealth.
Upgrade it later for a stronger Time Stop.
>>463263
"There is a mountain pass that lets us skip some of the tiresome walking if you don't mind a bit of climbing."

463282

>>463259
"Did you get some sleep, Dusty?"

463286

>>463279
Does it do anything or is it just a gift?

463287

>>463282
"Tons. It's been a while since I slept in a cloud."

463288

>>463279
"Climbing is fine."

463294

>>463287
"I have to say I couldn't quite catch sleep again after that…thing showed up."

463302

>>463294
"They did warn us about the Night Seeker."

463304

>>463286
It shows you are good enough buddies with Hammer to get one of his carvings. Many bandits will respect that, but some others may instead dislike it.
>>463288
"Good, good. Then let's veer a little to the west"
He points at some visible hills
"It's a bit way up, and through some rocky terrain, but will save us several hours"

463305

>>463294
"I am sorry. would you like me to carry your things?"

463306

>>463304
Get to walking.

463310

>>463302
"It didn't bother you at all? The way it spoke?"

>>463305
"That's quite allright, I'm happy to carry my own things, Miss Stardust.
Besides during a journey like this you shouldn't carry too much."

463312

>>463310
"I'm just happy it didn't try to kill us, doc."

463315

>>463304
Alright.

>>463304
"Did you bring ropes for the non-capras?"

463317

>>463310
I step closer to you "Then all the more reason I should carry it for you. You're already tired Doctor Coltstien. I'd be happy to help."

463318

And soon enough you come to the pass Katar mentioned
"Here we go. Now, watch your step around here. It's been a while since I last was here, but I doubt the footing has gotten any better."

You leave the nests be, and climb back up to the path.
It seems you haven't angered anything.
Katar wipes his brow
"Lets try to avoid doing that again. I'd hate to anger the harpies."

463351

>>463349
"There are harpies here?!?"

463352

>>463349
"Indeed. I can't hit flying creatures."

463353

>>463349
"Harpies? … We should keep moving."

463354

>>463349
"Harpies?"
>>463346
"…Hobbies? I don't have those."

463355

>>463349
"Harpies? Geez."
I keep on moving.

463358

>>463354
"Well, there must be something you like to do?"

463363

>>463358
I nod. "Helping humans."

463366

>>463353
>>463354
>>463355
>>463366
"Yeah, harpies tend to nest here. This place is kinda remote, but there is enough here to eat, like mountain goats and unwary travelers, so they can keep the little ones fed."

463375

>>463367
"Well let's keep going."

463376

>>463363
"Besides that…like have you ever played chess? Me and Dusty play it quite often. Or cards?"

>>463367
"Let's hurry then."

463377

>>463367
"Are we talking or walking? I'd rather be walking."

463378

>>463382
"Never tried to win, yourself?"

463387

>>463382

463390

As you keep heading up the path, you come across a rather large, tall cliff
The path goes down beside it, but another path leads atop it.

463392

>>463384
"no, not on purpose. I tried to make it close, that was when she smiled most."
>>463387
"The raised me, I was their pet, but they were my family. I never thought of it badly.."

463394

>>463390
"Katar, what can you tell us about the paths?"

>>463392
"Oh, so you were half kid and half slave?"

463395

>>463390
"High or low road? The former might have more harpies."

463397

>>463394
"No, I was not a child, they had children, and they were treated differently than me."

463399

>>463392
"Awww. You're nice pony. What are you doing these days?"

463402

>>463394
>>463395
"I went up there once. It's a dead end, but I remember I saw an altar or grave or something up there. Can't remember why, but I kept my hands off it."

463403

>>463382
"Well, maybe you'd like to play a game then sometime.
And me and Dusty can teach you how to play chess?"

>>463390
"The down path?"

463405

>>463402
"Should we pay our respects, then? Perhaps the dead can allow for a safer journey."

463407

>>463402
>>463405
"Let's take a look at it. My curiosity is piqued."

463408

>>463397
"That's horrible."

>>463402
"Hmm."

>>463405
"It might give us luck."

463412

And suddenly Danner exited powersave mode

463414

>>463408
"…It is?"

There is a strange looking, massive stone near the middle, and what seems like a sarcophagus near the edge.

The ornate sword is clearly magical.
There is also a small enchanted seal on the sarcophagus, which occasionally pulses, sending a nearly invisible bolt of energy to the odd, large stone.
Looking around, there are ten of them around this place, on the rocks, trees and ground…

463437

>>463427
It vaguely looks like a crouching human, but very very vaguely.

But Privilege looks surprisingly nice. Partially built on stilts, and with tall, well built buildings.
Also… parts of it seem to be smoking.

It long predates Privilege, but never amounted to much due to a lack of hygiene which made it into a breeding ground for disease. But then, such was life in the mire back in that day.

But what brings you all to Privilege? Here for some business, or pleasure?"

466103

The buildings are grand and tall, but have few unifying elements. They were probably all funded, designed and built by different people and groups.
The Grand Inn is a very large, many floored building. From the looks of it, it could house hundreds with ease.
The strong, stumpy building near it must be the watch house.

However… I cannot guarantee your safety if you go there."

466174

>>466172
How lucky. Let's go in and check the menu.

466175

>>466172
"Occupational hazard, captain. You are sure this is somehow contracted by the living?"

466176

>>466171
"But you're still very young."

>>466172
"That will be fine. I should see him as soon as possible."

466178

>>466172
shiver and try talking to one of the people with a rash, one who doesn't look busy.. "Um, excuse me, but do you work around here?" '1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

466179

>>466172
"I see, and I thought there is no one overseeing the sick patients."

>>466176
I frown.
"I am young but I can help. What do you suggest? That I stay here?"

466181

>>466179
"No I am merely saying you should stay within sight of me while we're in that area."

466182

>>466178
He turns to look at you
"Oh, hello little pony. I own one of the restaurants."
>>466174
Meat and mushrooms seem to be today's specialty
>>466175
>>466176
"All we know is that people are getting sick and that the dead are walking. Even if they are not related, they are both very very bad for us."

466183

>>466182
"Really? Which one?" I smile.

466184

>>466182
It'll do. I'll have an order of that.

466186

>>466181
I smile.
"Then thats decided, I and Iron Dust will follow you to the area. Dont worry I'll stick close by."

466189

>>466182
"Sounds like a good enough place to start on."

466190

>>466186
"Okay. And if you feel bad at any time, you must tell me our Iron Dust immediatly."

466191

>>466183
"The lieu d'aliments de haute qualité, over there"
He points at one of the buildings
>>466184
Soon enough the waiter brings you a large plate of lean strips of meat and large friend mushroom caps in a dark sauce.
>>466186
>>466189
"…very well. Here."
He slides a badge over his table
"Show this at the gate between town halves and you'll be grant passage."

466193

>>466191
Right, ready to move.

466194

>>466191
"Do you have any masks or other things that will keep me from having to smell sick people?"

466195

>>466191
"Oh, I see. You must be a very good chief, is your restaurant popular? " I glace over there, does it look busy, and do people look sick when they come out? '1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

466196

>>466191
Lean meat's good, but it could stand to have a bit of fat on it.
Do I get what I pay for in terms of taste? '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

466197

>>466196
Yeah, I probably did. I guess there's a reason this place is cheap.

466199

>>466191
grab one

>>466190
I nod

466201

>>466191
I take the badge.
"This to mark the clean ones?"

466204

>>466201
"Perhaps. Its also a badge to let us through in and out I suppose."
Pin the badge to my hat.

466205

>>466195
Yes.
Yes they do.
"I am just an owner. The thanks belongs to my chef."
>>466196
>>466197
It sort of tastes like random swamp critters and mushrooms picked off rotting logs…
>>466201
>>466199
>>466194
>>466193
"The badges will mark you as authorized to enter the restricted zones. Ask downstairs at the test lab if you want protective gear. Mordstein should have left plenty of spares."

466207

>>466205
"Thank you."
Go down to get myself some good old medieval doctor gear

466208

>>466205
"Uh.. How long have you had your chef?"

466209

>>466205
…I think I've finished, then. I'll pay my tab and head outside.

466210

>>466207
"Eh.. alright."
Go follow the doctor and see if they have some of the protective gear that are designed for a pony and pony my size.

466211

>>466207
I follow.

466213

>>466208
"Oh, many years. He is a genius in the kitchen, if not very good with people. My other employees often joke he'd not let them stop working even if they dropped dead in the kitchen."
>>466207
>>466210
>>466211
Several brainy looking types are down here, examining various diseased organs and lumps of meat
"Headed to the restricted areas?"
>>466209
Starburst is talking with someone out in the street

466216

>>466213
"Yes, we would like some protective gear. Have you by any chance discovered how the disease infects people yet?"

466217

>>466213
"That we are. What can you tell us about this affliction so far?"

466218

>>466213
"Yes. The chief said you had gear for us?"

466219

>>466213
I'll head over there. She's naive enough to be led off somewhere if left alone. A wonder it hasn't happened already.
>>466208
I won't interrupt, though.

466220

>>466213
I chuckle nervously. "Oh, he sounds like a very nice person. You must be luck to have such a hard worker!" Are the others nearby?

466221

>>466213
"Yes." I grin.
"Anything to tell us on what to expect? What to cure and what to avoid?:"

"Oh! And also, a protective suit and mask for someone as small as me. If its a available."

466224

>>466216
>>466217
>>466218
>>466221
"Do you want the new prototypes or the old tested models?"
"As for the disease, it seems to transfer via fluids… we think. But its origins are a mystery."
"A witch did it."
"We don't know that."
"Trust me, a witch did it."
>>466220
Most are still in the watch house
Red is nearby

466226

>>466224
I look at my two companions upon hearing the word 'witch.'

466228

>>466224
"Any reason why I should chose the prototypes over the old ones?"

466229

>>466219
I walk over to you. "Uh, I think we should check out this restaurant, lieu d'aliments de haute qualité.." I point at it. "Particularly their chef.."

466230

>>466224
"What the doctor guy said."

466231

>>466228
>>466230
"They aren't made of sheep bladders."

466232

>>466229
I'll look where she's pointing. Is it the same place I just ate?

466235

>>466231
"Eh… whats its made of?"

466236

>>466224
Single out that one.
"What makes you say that?"

466237

>>466231
I scoff.
"Well sheep bladders do tend to be very protective. But if you say the new prototypes work just as well, I have no issues testing them."

466239

>>466232
No, it's a fancier, expensive one.
>>466236
"I've seen plenty of disease in my time, but this isn't natural."
>>466235
>>466237
"The new ones are made of airtight sailcloth and a few valves. Essentially the same, in theory. And less… meaty."

466240

>>466239
"Yes, the rising from the dead is new. But do you have any proof?"

466241

>>466239
Good. Though I might want to get whatever passes for a health inspector to look at that one.
"Well, then, no time like the present. Let's check it out."

466242

>>466239
Shrug "Well everything for progress."
Not like I'll die from it.
Put on one of them suits.

466243

>>466239
"Better to wear something not made of someone who was alive before." I frown.
"Any size for me?"

466245

>>466241
>>466239
"Do you, have a plan to talk to the chef Mr. Red?" I follow you inside.

466246

>>466245
"Not particularly. Mostly I wish to observe."

466248

>>466240
"Well for one, most medicines do little to nothing unless they contain antimagical components."
>>466241
>>466245
The waiter looks at you
"Table for… two?"
>>466242
You grab a mask and strap it on.
>>466243
After some tinkering, they manage to pad out a mask enough to fit over your face.

466251

>>466248
"That is pretty damning. Have you identified any magic inherent in the plague itself?"

466252

>>466248
"Not today. We're here to observe the head chef. Very hush-hush, as we're from the Restaurant committee."
I'll hold a finger up to my lips for a moment.
"And of course, you can't let him know we're here, otherwise our observations will be tainted."

466253

>>466248
"I'll take the sailcloth stuff, please."

466254

>>466248
I stay quiet.

466255

>>466253
Allright, wait for the rest.
Look at our capra friend.
"Make sure it fits perfectly."

466257

>>466248
Put the mask on and put the robe/suit on me too.
"If there is magic involved then it will be hard for the normal citizens to heal it themselves through using household cures. They really need healers like us."

>>466251
"How do I look?" I prance a bit.

466259

>>466251
"I'm a doctor, not a wizard."
>>466252
>>466254
He raises a brow and looks you over
Roll to seem legit VS perception

>>466253

466260

>>466259
I am completely legit. Obviously this guy has never seen a Secret Shopper before. '1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

466261

>>466255
I sniff.
"Just because I'm not human doesn't mean I don't know how to wear cloths."

>>466259
I suit up.

466262

>>466259
"No clerics in town?"

466267

>>466259
>>466260
You have such an intense staredown you can feel parts of reality unravel around you.
The borders of truth and lies blur and crack as your wills clash in an eternal duel that will echo into the deepest realms of the divines far above. This is the battle the entire world revolves around. This moment, where it will be decided what, from here to eternity, will be seen as truth and falsehood.
The very concept of facts is bent into hideous, impossible contortions by your matched powers, every blow of implication and counterobservation further hammering it into a form impossible for any but an omniscient outside observer to understand.
And as you reach the climax of this clash, truth itself collapses in a crescendo of infinite potential, destroying all that once was known and accepted, washing over the universe in a wave of raw energy comprised of white lies and half truths burning with the intensity of a million newborn gods fighting for supremacy.
And at the end of this cataclysm stands a new reality, which is exactly the same as the old, except the waiter shrugs and points you towards the kitchen door.
You may enter.
>>466262
"Not many, no.
A few might be visiting."

466270

>>466267
"Thank you. Come along then, Starburst."
And we'll go to the back.

466272

>>466267
"We need to get this evaluated by one."

466274

>>466267
"What do you humans worship, anyways?"

466275

>>466270
>>466267
Follow as bravely as possible. "That was.. impressive" can I see anything odd about the food being served? '1d10'

>>466275
"It all usually comes down to willpower and acting like you belong."
I'll keep an ear out and an eye on the head chef. '1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

466278

>>466267
I then arrange my things and get myself ready.
"So are we heading out or do we have somethings needed to do first?"

I then look around.
"Come to think of it, where are the others like Red and Star?"

466280

>>466277
>>466275
>>466270
The head chef is… a capra.
A fat one at that, with a neatly trimmed mustache.
He seems to be yelling at one of the other chefs, who is clearly not listening.
…or alive. But he is till moving, groaning a bit as he chops up some vegetables.
>>466274
"Ask someone who does. Me, I put my faith in gold and my own hands. That's why I came here in the first place."

466282

>>466280
"Well, that's not… healthy. We should likely inform the others."

466284

>>466280
Right, we going?

466285

>>466282
"Shouldn't we do something?" I ask nervously.. "It might not be so easy to get back here again.."

466288

>>466284
Do you want to split the party or go get the others?

466289

>>466284
I put on my mask.
"We are. I am just waiting for you two."

466290

>>466284
I'm ready.

466291

>>466285
"An inquisitor can go wherever he likes. And we don't know how many more zombies he has working the kitchens. We could swiftly be outnumbered, and you don't seem like much of a fighter."

466294

>>466291
"Ah, but I think.. if we just knock out the chef.. maybe the other zombies would just fall down?"

466295

>>466288
Get the others, I suppose.

466297

>>466295
They were last seen going into a fancy restaurant

466298

>>466294
"That's not how they work, unfortunately. Also, I did say I was only here to observe. So let us take our observations, and bring it to the attention of the others. I doubt he's going anywhere."

466301

>>466297
Walk over to that fancy restaurant then.

466303

>>466298
I nod. "Okay, lets hurry"

466304

>>466295
>>466301
Follow him there.

466305

>>466301
I follow you.

466306

>>466303
Out we go, then. I'll nod to the waiter on the way out and…
>>466301
>>466304
>>466305
Oh look at that, the others.
"Where is the Inquisitor?"

466311

>>466301
>>466303
>>466304
>>466305
>>466306
And so you all met up.
Form a plan, and we can assume the rest of the party got protective gear too.

466313

>>466311
I'll just say I did.
Here I am.

466315

>>466306
"over there"

>>466313

466316

>>466313
"You, Inquisitor. What are the laws concerning employing undead in places where food is prepared?"

466318

>>466311
"We've got some protective gear and are going to check out the poor half of Privilege."

466319

>>466311
"Um.. well, we did see undead in the kitchen but.. if the chef was the necromancer.. wouldn't the undead.. listen to him?"

466321

>>466311
>>466306
I look at Red.
"Hey, we are going to the slums to heal some of the infected. I assume you guys will stay here in the upper parts to avoid the plague going on, its better to stay though."

466322

>>466316
I cock a brow.
"That would be highly unusual."

466323

>>466316
"Uhh.. what?"

466325

>>466316
"Anyone with sense wouldn't at all. They're filthy, not to mention heretical."

466327

>>466318
>>466321
"I see. We'll have to prepare as well."
>>466325
"Then this chef has no sense whatsoever. He's got undead in the kitchen, and that can't be up to code."
I'll point a thumb over my shoulder at the restaurant.
"So do you want to tidy this up first, or check out the poor section?"

466332

>>466327
"Maybe he doesn't know?"

466333

>>466327
>>466327
Hearing this, I look at Danner and wait for an answer.
"I'd really like to go to the slum though, every minute people will be suffering form the disease."

466335

>>466327
"That's certainly a health violation. I'd like to see it."

466336

>>466327
"What? I need to see this. If what the doctors said is right, he may be spreading this."

466337

>>466332
'He has to know."
>>466333
"Would you rather treat a symptom, or the cause?"
>>466335
>>466336
I'll nod.
"I had thought it prudent to inform you in case their were more than just one."

466339

You man return to the restaurant or go to the servant district.

466341

>>466337
"Well I could heal the living not the dead. If what you say is true, then that undead chef is for Inquisitor Danner not me."

466342

>>466339
We go to the restaurant.
And kill them all.

466343

>>466342
No, we just kill the undead. The waitstaff aren't guilty in this. Probably.

466346

>>466343
You just didn't look hard enough. Obviously they are also zombies

466347

>>466342
"Perhaps put them to rest doctor." I rasie an eyebrow.

>>466343
I then sigh.
"Lead the way sir Red. I'll follow and see if I can help."

466348

>>466346
Zombies don't talk. Or have absurdly high perception checks.

466349

>>466347
"This way, then. We should probably enter through the back so we don't make a scene."
And I'll lead the rest and circle around the restaurant.

466351

>>466347
I didn't say that out loud.
I just said something like "we should check out the restaurant"

466353

>>466346
>>466343
following..

466354

>>466339
I try to sneak into the restaurant.

466357

>>466348
They're french

466358

>>466349
I get myself ready and follow him.

>>466351
Whoops sorry.

466360

>>466354
You enter entirely unnoticed, and may access any area.
>>466342
>>466346
>>466347
>>466353
>>466358
>>466357
And then you lot went back in
The waiter stops you at the door
"Quite a large party you have. I'm afraid you may need to wait half an hour for a table to free up."

466362

>>466360
I wait for Danner.
"Health inspection, sir."

466365

>>466360
Look down and let the others speak.

466366

>>466362
"Yeah, what he said. Show us the kitchen."

466367

>>466360
I'll…
>>466362
>>466366
Just let them talk.

466370

>>466362
>>466366
"Do you have some sort of… warrant, or?"

466371

>>466370
I just keep quiet and look at the two.

466372

>>466370
Wait for the inquisitor to flash his inquisitorial rosette.

466375

>>466360
I go and check out thee boss's office.

466376

>>466372
"I am a warrant. Inquisitor's authority."

466380

>>466375
It seems pretty normal, if decadent.
All the windows are stained glass, save for the ones that offer a view of the town streets.
>>466376
>>466372
The waiter goes a bit pale
"R-right this way sir…"
He opens the kitchen door where several cooks are working on meals and a fat mustachioed capra is grumpily tasting some ingredients.

"This is odd. Where did it go?"
>>466389
And I'll watch this go down.

466391

>>466390
"I.. don't know.." I frown "Maybe coming in a big group scared them?"

466392

>>466380
Well this isn't what I expected.

>>466395

They all flinch and cower
"I ASKED YOU A QUESTION! WHICH! ONE!"
"S-sir it was-"
"IT WAS YOU WASN'T IT!? I KNEW YOU WERE USELESS!"
"N-no sir it was-"
"NO EXCUSES!"
"S-sir I-"
"NO!"
"SIR IT WAS WILFRED!"
"LIKE HELL IT WA-oh. Wait. That's his spot. So it was. Carry on."
The capra then turns back to you
"It was a mistake of one of my senior chefs."

466400

>>466398
I cower away when he yells at me. "S-sorry.."

466401

>>466398
"He doesn't know his job if he makes those mistakes. Where is he? I'll explain to him myself how dangerous slip ups like that can be."

466403

>>466398
I'll look around.
"I don't suppose we could meet this… senior chef of yours?"
>>466400
"There is no need to apologize."
And I'll pat Starburst on the back of the neck.

466404

>>466398
"Uh huh. I'd like to speak to him. I'm sure he knows that the town is in the middle of an epidemic."

466405

Stand back and lower my hat in front of me.
"Dont shout at me like that geez."

You enter the Servant district.
Roads have been blocked off, bonfires started, and Watchmen are guarding houses.

They lead you back to the Watch House, where the research team in the basement is overjoyed with the news
"Perfect! Mordstein has finally found a formula that has at least some guaranteed effect. It's not perfect, but at least we can start manufacturing some sort of a cure now."

466811
