PirateQuest: Chapter 2.10: Heads Will Roll Wf+6 337906

As you walk out of the bank, you find a city engorged with flame. The mercantile district square, an hour ago bustling with cheerful laughter and dancing, trading and storytelling, worship and life, is now abandoned and alight.

The cobblestone ground is pockmarked with missing slabs and debris from structures is everywhere. To your left, the candy shop collapses outward, front wall falling onto the street with a clattering CRASH.

Before you, a train of carriages awaits to carry out the contents of the vault. Better get it loaded up quickly and get out of here: it looks like it's taking a beating, being the hub district and so close to the military district.

Okay, the money can wait just a teeeeeny tiny bit, I'll get my share anyhow.
Can I get the corpse of Spring somewhere safe somehow for the resurrectionist?

Summer Seas [Cleric] 337912

I look around to see if Mellow Marsh is around here.

"Now where is that gray pegasus? He promised me a cut."

>>337906
I have a heart condition, heavy lifting is bad for my health. I need to get my nurse back to this world somehow.

You arrive in the Middle Class District to find a large bubble around Humble's house, a sort of dark blue hue. A cannonball collides with it and bounces off ineffectually.

You see Mellow Marsh at the door, inside the bubble, beckoning you in.

You arrive at Humble's and drop off your gold.

Inside, you find Fullmaster Abilio maintaining the shield, looking a little fatigued. "No portals… ships are moving."

Mellow Marsh pulls out a map of the city with several target locations that are viable for looting.

The Goldenblood Estate - UCS, the house of the Lord-Mayor
The North End - UCS, a cul-de-sac of some of the richest and most influential ponies in Stonebriar.
The Holy Ascent - UCS, a local landmark that is used for celebrations. Most of the rich ponies were here for a celebration today, and are probably still there, hiding out. This is the location of Class Warfare, and was the location of The Apostolic Ambassador.
The Armory - Military District, where the best weapons of the local army are kept
The Komodo Vault - LCD, Where the Komodo Yakuza keep their dirty money from drugs, prostitution, and gambling. You visited this place in Slum Sorrows.
The Order Santuary - LCD, Where the Order of the Virtuous keep their tithes.
The Celestial Temple - Mercantile District, Where the greedy priests of Stonebriar keep their tithes.

You can also rob houses, but none of them will have as much loot as any of this locations.

"I can bring you to the one who brought Ms… Mr. Hearts back."

>>338083
"I am not sure about that, let her speak."

Summer Seas [Cleric] 338089

>>338078
Alright.
I try to lift Spring out of the carriage.
'1d10'
>>338083
I begrudgingly heal her.
'1d10+2'

Roll #1 2 = 2

Light Heart [Warlord] 338092

>>338087
Motion over to Rosemary.
"I must have my nurse back."

>>338089
'1d10+2'
>>338088
"…Bring him over here!"

Roll #1 7 + 2 = 9

Tony [Trickster] 338095

>>338087
"Skulk off? The whole freaking city knows I'm with you blokes now! I want my cut. But you're right, things did go a bit bonkers, so I can give ya some information for it instead."

Emrille [Gunslinger] 338096

>>338087
Sigh, and take out a doubloon.
"You will be missed, my friend… your sacrifice will be remembered…"
Kiss the doubloon goodbye and give it to Terebonne.
"I want you to revive Spring Water for me. The unicorn healer. Mother of the filly."

Wf+6 338098

>>338089
Humble's house is considered Safe. Most rolls insta-crit. This one does.

Wounds
Tony: 3/5
Light Heart: 4/5

>>338092
She nods. "Ya know of da terrible price?"

She sort of jingles her purse.

Light Heart [Warlord] 338100

>>338098
"I have heard of such a thing, yes."
Give her one of my doubloons

Felfire [Necromancer] 338101

>>338098
Walk over to Terrebonne and lie down beside her saying nothing.

Emrille [Gunslinger] 338103

Chip(DD knight) 338104

>>338089
I pulled Terrabone and present her to Summer.
"Here she is."

Summer Seas [Cleric] 338106

>>338104
I grab all of my doubloons and hold them out to her.
"Please bring my momma back!"

Emrille [Gunslinger] 338107

>>338106
I sigh.
"Don't worry Summer. I already paid."

Chip(DD knight) 338108

>>338104
>>338096
I then look at Terrabone and whisper.
"Their gold, not mine."

>>338106
I give a toothy smile.
"Perhaps one or two will suffice."

Wf+6 338109

>>338096
"So be it. Da corpse?"

>>338104
She takes the corpse and sets it on the couch. She begins to mutter a chant, and the room darkens briefly: something you didn't notice before in her near pitch black room. Then, she stabs her hoof into the lower back, and Spring Water awakens with a start.

Emrille [Gunslinger] 338112

>>338109
I sigh and lower my head, then step back to let Summer close.
"Your momma's back…"

338113

>>338109
Roll to learn from what she did.

Roll #0 1 = 1

Light Heart [Warlord] 338114

Summer Seas [Cleric] 338115

>>338109
"Momma!"
I grab her into a tight hug and pepper her face with kisses.
"You're back…"

Wf+6 338117

>>338113
You don't learn shit. You almost feel like Grogar is laughing at your ineptitude. Roll for pride damage.

338119

>>338117
M-mhu pride!

Roll #0 6 = 6

Tony [Trickster] 338120

>>338095
Still waiting for an answer.

Chip(DD knight) 338121

>>338115
I scratch my head.
"Its good to have her back." I give an awkward smile.

Chip(DD knight) 338123

>>338073
I then look at Mellow Marsh.
"Any news on the ship?"

Wf+6 338124

>>338100
She repeats the process for Rosemary, who awakens with a similar gasp.

"Uh–? AH! My– What happened?"

>>338095
"Very well then, what do you have for me?"

>>338115
She returns the gesture. "Summer! I missed you so while I was gone. It's a relief to be back, but there's so much… so fast…"

She seems oddly composed and comprehending of what happened compared to Rosemary.

Wf+6 338126

>>338123
Marsh nods, mid conversation, and dismissively remarks, "They're bombarding the military district now."

Emrille [Gunslinger] 338130

>>338124
Look at Spring.
"You should stay here with your filly. I'm sorry for that. It was my fault."

Hung my head and walk out of the house before she can respond.

Summer Seas [Cleric] 338132

>>338124
"I missed you so much too…"
I softly tear up as I hug Spring.

Light Heart [Warlord] 338133

>>338124
"You died, miss Rosemary. Now you are back however. I need my nurse with me."

Tony [Trickster] 338134

>>338124
"For one, I know the Order of the Virtuous won't be giving you lads much trouble. They're going to attack some ceremony with the Holy Guard today. I also know something else, something worth a lot of money, but I'll need to hear I'll get my cut from you first."

Wf+6 338140

>>338134
He considers your statement. "Hey Chip!"

He turns immediately to the dog at his side. "Did this blowhard and braggart make a difference at all in the fight with the big golem in that vault?"

Felfire [Necromancer] 338141

>>338124
Neigh slightly and approach the sheep.
"Terre, how did you do that exactly?"

Chip(DD knight) 338142

>>338126
>>338132
I then look at Summer and Spring, then look at my body, then look down before approaching Mellow Marsh.

"So, what are the plans for today? How is the assault going?"

Emrille [Gunslinger] 338143

Aww, fuck it.
I need to let out some steam.
Find a nearby house and kick down the door.
'1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Chip(DD knight) 338144

>>338140
>>338140
I scratch my head.
"Yeah.. sure. Dont remember much, it just goes too fast."

Wf+6 338145

>>338141
You take no pride damage, you are a very modest pony.

"It is nawt someting dat can be explained so easily, but da short answer is, I just shove da soul back in!"

>>338143
Are you sure? Actions outside of Humble's house will make the clock continue counting down.

>>338142
>>338144
He shrugs. "So be it, then. You'll get your cut, thief. Out with the information, then."

Emrille [Gunslinger] 338148

>>338145
Oh, I didn't know that
Just stay outside the house then, but inside the bubble if possible.
Practice my aim without actually shooting.
'1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

Wf+6 338149

>>338133
She gives you a weak smile.

"Um… thank you? I appreciate that you care…"

Summer Seas [Cleric] 338150

>>338145
"I wanna go home momma… can we? All the stupid pirates are going to be busy! We can escape right now!"
I hug her a bit tighter.

Felfire [Necromancer] 338154

>>338145
Think about it for a second, then cock my head and give a satisfied mumble.
"Sounds good enough."

Tony [Trickster] 338155

>>338145
"Well mate, something got the Komodo Yakuza real scared this morning. They were anticipating an assault." Look around "I guess those wankers were right. So instead of waiting for you to go and blag them, they moved all of their money out of the city. Nothing left."

Chip(DD knight) 338157

>>338145
I look at map provided then to Mellow Marsh.
"What can you tell me about these locations?"

Wf+6 338158

>>338150
She gives you a very conflicted look. "I… I want to so badly. There's nothing I've wanted more than to take you away from them right this instant… but I don't think I can. Not yet. I want to explain, but I can't. I need time…"

>>338155
He nods. "Well, that eliminates one stop, the Komodo Vault."

>>338157
"Most of the notes are already there. I can tell you a few more specifics if you ask about one in particular. Also… there's the matter of the military district. There's two more targets we can go after, but not for loot, if you're feeling brave and have extra time."

Light Heart [Warlord] 338160

>>338149
"Loyal ponies are hard to come by. So yes, I do care. As I take care of anypony that does well in my book. Did you expect me to simply leave you to rot?"
I give her a condescending look

Felfire [Necromancer] 338163

>>338158
Can I take advantage of the insta-crit here to raise two skeletons?

Tony [Trickster] 338165

>>338157
"Glad to see another Dog all the way out here mate" I offer Chip my hand.

Summer Seas [Cleric] 338171

>>338158
"Huh? B- But they're the whole reason you… you… I don't want that to happen again…"
I bury my face in her chest.

Chip(DD knight) 338172

>>338165
I look at the newcomer and give him a toothy grin.
"We need all the help that we can get our paws into. Just know how to survive and your're welcome."

>>338158
I look at my fur.
"I am brave but I also like to survive. Out of curiosity, what are these two targets that you are speaking of?"

Wf+6 338175

>>338160
She gives a melancholy look. "I'm… not sure what I expected. It was so fast… I died? It was so painful… I was awake… I remember it now…"

>>338163
You certainly could if you didn't empty the yard of skeletons in all your other visits here.

>>338171
She wraps an arm around you. "It wasn't their choice, it was mine. I am not asking you to forgive them, but to wait. I don't know how I can give you a fair explanation without time, so please, Summer…"

She gives you a pleading look. "Please be patient with me. I have seen so much in this brief time."

338176

>>338175
I had a feeling you'd say that.
But sure I must feel something around!

Roll #0 5 = 5

Summer Seas [Cleric] 338179

>>338175
"D- Did you see Luna when you were…?"

Light Heart [Warlord] 338180

>>338175
"Do not fret. For the amount of times I nearly died and got reanimated, I'm still alive and fine. Can I count on you being there for me 100%?"
I give her an expectant look

Wf+6 338181

>>338172
"Well, striking at the watchtowers would make our final assault easier, for when we move in range to use the really brutal short-range cannons. We can't get fully into the harbor safely while they're up."

He pauses. "The other isn't so much a target as TARGETS. Abilio wants you to take Marrowbone out and thin the enemy troops."

Tony [Trickster] 338182

>>338172
I turn back to Mellow

"Is there a healer around here? I need to get myself fixed up."

Chip(DD knight) 338183

>>338181
"Hmmm…. the watchtowers is a good target indeed."
I look at Sunny Skies.
"Can we blow it up?"

Wf+6 338184

>>338179
She hesitates, then gives you a quick nod, then hugs you even tighter.

>>338180
She hesitates. "I…"

"Okay."

Wf+6 338185

>>338182
He points at Spring, Summer, and Rosemary.

Chip(DD knight) 338186

>>338182
I point at the two unicorns hugging each other tightly.
"Just ask nicely, the child has been through a rough time."

Felfire [Necromancer] 338187

>>338181
My hears perk up.
"Hey I like this idea already! Just why I'm here!"

Summer Seas [Cleric] 338190

>>338184
I give her a look of understanding and also tighten my hug.
"Um… so what should I do?"

Wf+6 338191

>>338190
"We need to go with them for now… But that doesn't mean we can't stop some of the damage… We should try to stop them from killing more ponies if we can, and steer them toward the Holy Ascent. You can heal the plagued ones there, and the pirates will probably get their money without need for more violence. Hopefully that will be enough for them… And we can go in peace."

Light Heart [Warlord] 338192

>>338184
"Good. Once this is over, you will be rewarded gratuitously. For now, stay strong and stay at my side."

>>338181
"Mister Abilio, where do you suggest we go next?"

Tony [Trickster] 338193

>>338185
>>338186

I nod and walk to Rosemary.

"Excuse me. I've been told you're the one to got if I need healing."

Wf+6 338194

>>338192
"In terms of military strategy, I'd target the armory. You can get the watchtowers and thin the enemy lines while you're there. Other than that, the upper class district is the most worthwhile for gold, I'd guess. I'm not here for logistics."

Light Heart [Warlord] 338195

>>338193
Rosemary can heal you, yes '1d10'

>>338194
"We are rather fatigued after our encounter with the golem. Tackling the armory sounds… troublesome."

Roll #1 5 = 5

Felfire [Necromancer] 338196

>>338194
Wait for him to finish talking.
"Hey Abilio, I wanted to help thin out the enemy numbers, when do we start?"

Chip(DD knight) 338197

Wf+6 338198

>>338194
>>338195
Heals automatically crit.

>>338196
"When you're ready."

He gestures to Marrowbone, silently standing by the door. He has a huge, purple-tinted orb balanced perfectly on his back.

>>338183
"You could, but it would be a waste. If we took control instead, we'd have cannon towers at our disposal. That means less guards for you to deal with on the roads. How you deal with them is up to you, though."

Felfire [Necromancer] 338199

>>338198
"Anything I should know about him before we go?"
Cock a brow questioningly.

Summer Seas [Cleric] 338200

>>338191
I nod.
"Okay… so we're on a mission from Luna?"
I sniffle.
"Can we get some sunglasses?"

Tony [Trickster] 338201

>>338195
"Thanks a lot mate." I walk back to the rest of the group, ready to go looting

Wf+6 338202

>>338199
"Well, his tongue isn't in his mouth, so don't expect him to be chatty."

>>338200
Another quick nod. "Please be patient. I promise you an explanation soon, but we need to control the damage here before it gets out of hand."

Felfire [Necromancer] 338203

>>338202
"Not that. I was talking about him and the orb."

Chip(DD knight) 338204

>>338198
"Alright then, its settled." I smiled.
"But I need a team…"

Light Heart [Warlord] 338206

>>338204
"Last time we did something involving cannons, it almost ended badly. I'm not certain I'm willing to risk more of the same."

Emrille [Gunslinger] 338207

Yeah, fuck that.
Find a nearby house and blast down the door.

Tony [Trickster] 338208

>>338204
"I can go with ya, I want some payback."

Summer Seas [Cleric] 338209

>>338202
"Okay… y- you won't have to…"
I gulp.

Felfire [Necromancer] 338211

>>338204
"Which route do you take, pal?"

Chip(DD knight) 338213

>>338206
I shrugged.
"Cant force you."

>>338208
>>338211
"Taking out the towers so that our ships can use their powerful close range cannons. Plus they can dock safely afterwards."

>>338202
"Will it be only us? Are there other operatives that can help?
"

Felfire [Necromancer] 338215

>>338213
"I can accompany you along the way, wanna do some fancy stuff with ponies on the street…"
Try to hide the devious grin.

Roll #1 7 = 7

Wf+6 338218

>>338213
"Most of our crew not on the cannons are already out looting the city. That means when you reach each of the loot points, you'll find we already have ponies on the ground clearing it out. You won't have help for the watchtowers, but an assault on the armory is already underway. Perhaps completed by now, and only waiting for pickup. You're not in this fight alone: the whole crew is working toward victory. No pony stands idle. Hundreds have been mustered."

Felfire [Necromancer] 338220

Wf+6 338222

>>338203
"It's a weapon. It's easier to demonstrate than explain."

>>338218
"They WILL have help for the watchtowers, though! Marrowbone can accompany them."

Chip(DD knight) 338223

>>338215
"Then you're Felfire."

>>338223
"I will accompany you after all then."

"I am not forcing you… I dont think its a good idea. I already busted by body just for you to be safe Summer."

Emrille [Gunslinger] 338235

>>338231
Kick it open walk in with weapon raised.
"Anypony who is still in this hole and tries to do anything is good as dead! Now you'll march right the fuck out of here, give me your money and jewels and anything valuable, and I'll let you live. That clear enough?!"

Wf+6 338236

"I do… so let's get a move on then! C'mon!"
I start running off in the direction of the Holy Ascent.

Wf+6 339022

>>339016
Spring guides you through the city. It's a pretty traumatizing experience: half of the structures are burned out or collapsed, and stray explosives and cannonballs are still flying. You manage to navigate through the upper class district, and get stopped by a patrol, but they let you go almost immediately. You don't look like a threat at all, and they're pretty shaken.

You approach The Holy Ascent and find a large purple bubble around the site, not unlike the one Abilio had protecting Humble's house.

Summer Seas [Cleric] 339031

>>339022
I huddle close to Spring as we walk through the husk of the city, stopping when we get to the bubble and pointing at it.
"What's that?…"

Wf+6 339034

>>339031
"It's a magic shield… to keep out the Order, and those cannonballs."
You already know what it is. This was part of Seed Sower's master plan, remember? The bubble keeps attackers out and the disease in.

As you near it, you can see perhaps a hundred finely dressed ponies, nearly all of whom are panicking, though from symptoms or assault you cannot say. It's hard to see how progressed they are from this distance.

At the edge of the bubble, you see a very concerned unicorn guard standing, watching you.

Summer Seas [Cleric] 339044

>>339034
Right. But Summer probably didn't remember because of all the drama that's happened. She just remembered the vague plan, not necessarily specifics.
I slowly tug on Spring's leg and try to get her attention towards that guard.
"Um… momma? Are we gonna sneak by that guard?"

Wf+6 339047

>>339044
She shakes her head. "What good would a shield be at stopping assassins if we could just sneak past?"

She walks you up to the guard. "Please, we need shelter from the attack. I'm a doctor! I can help, just let me in!"

The guard seems uncertain, but ends up shaking his head.

Inside the inner bubble, ponies are between shock and terror. Some of them have collapsed, straining to breathe out of their noses, while others are running around madly for fear of the cannonballs that can't even get inside. None of them even appear to be helping one another.

After a moment, you see the two of them look at you. Spring immediately panics and tries to scream something, but the Provost just looks at you gravely. As Spring clings to you, you feel tears drop onto your skin. Seed Sower approaches you with a knife, and while Spring is distracted, she cuts into one of your ears.

She sticks her peg leg into your hooves and whispers in your ear, "I made this plan today because I believed in you. I came here alone today because I believed in you. I risked everything because I believed in you."

You think you see tears in her eyes as well, but she blinks them away. With her non-peg leg, she reaches into her habit and pulls out an icon bearing Celestia's crest, and drapes it around your neck. She gives you a baleful stare for a moment more over your mother's hysterical sobs, and whispers one last thing, "I still believe in you."

She collapses, eyes glazed over, and suddenly, you feel clear-headed. The disease has not left your body, but you are no longer foggy of mind. In spite of all the chaos around you, things seem clear.

You feel a tremor of magic out of the icon. It's some sort of catalyst…

You see a huge crowd of civilians flooding into the Order sanctuary in the Lower Class District.

However, flying really high in the air was probably not the best way to stay low-key…

>>339791

Undaunted, she confidently pulls out the corpse.

"She's going to Terrebonne! I'm bringing her back!"

With that, she goes off, and finds Terrebonne below, on the gun deck, working on the gunners.

Light Heart [Warlord] 339801

>>339799
Good pet.

Take one of my doubloons out of my saddlebags and give it to Terrebonne so she can finally resurrect and I can be reminded of how horrifying the pain was.

Emrille [Gunslinger] 339802

>>339798
Fuck that now
Fly there ASAP, stay high above the shit below!

Wait at the gate of Tartarus

Also use protect on Albio in case someone gets the right idea to shoot him.

"I'm gonna go out and check again for more people… thank you! Thank you!"
I head back out again with Spring in tow to try and find more ponies from the other districts.
We both look.

Wait at the gate, ready to jump in.
Stand besides Abilio.

Tony [Trickster] 339807

>>339806
Me as well.

Wf+6 339808

>>339801
When you awake, it's like being born again, and I don't mean you welcomed the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior into your heart.

At first, you feel warm and dull, like a lazy afternoon in bed, and all of a sudden, an impact. You gasp for breath, and cold air shoots into your lungs.

You're alive. The last thing you remember is choking on your own blood while Rosemary watched in horror.

>>339806
>>339804
>>339807
Wisely, both of you and Abilio decide to wait on the ship side.

>>339802
You see Summer and Spring leaving the Sanctuary.

>>339805
You leave the sanctuary, and find a few stragglers, but you found most of them on your first trip. You probably save twenty or thirty more.

Light Heart [Warlord] 339812

>>339808
Lovely.
I cough and look around to regain my bearings
"What… what happened?"

Emrille [Gunslinger] 339814

>>339808
Land in front of them.
"Hey, what the crap are you doing, we must leave! Now!"

Summer Seas [Cleric] 339815

>>339808
I lead them all back to the sanctuary then.
Or are we already there?

Felfire [Necromancer] 339819

>>339808
Well now, who else is here on the ship, that I can see without moving too far from the portal?

Summer Seas [Cleric] 339821

>>339814
"No! I- I'm staying here to protect the ponies YOU are trying to kill!"

Wf+6 339822

>>339812
"M-medically?" She stammers.

"You bled to death."

>>339815
You basically just told them where to go.

>>339819
You can't see anything from Terrebonne's room.

Felfire [Necromancer] 339823

>>339822
Nevermind then, I have to stay here in case quick response is needed.

Wf+6 339824

>>339821
"Summer," Spring gives you a serious look. "I know with certainty that most of this city is about to be leveled. We need to either return to the sanctuary or the ships now."

Light Heart [Warlord] 339825

>>339822
I blink
"Ah…"
looking over the room, I see Terrebonne
"How unfortunate…"
Return my gaze to Rosemary
"Anything else?"

Emrille [Gunslinger] 339826

>>339821
"I am not trying to kill anyone but if we don't leave know, both you and your mother will die! And even if the barrage of the ships won't kill you, that faggot Reth will, because you helped pirates and you better believe he will kill you."

>>339824
"Thaaaaank you for having sense, now let's go, I spent a doubloon to get you back to life, let's not get that go to waste, shall we? We need to move, quick!"

Wf+6 339827

>>339825
She sobs onto your chest. "I-I was so worried! I won't ever let you leave me behind for anything again! It was torture!"

Summer Seas [Cleric] 339828

>>339824
"But momma! They're pirates! They… they…"
I pause for a moment.
>>339826
I lean into Spring.
"D- Do we really have to?"

Emrille [Gunslinger] 339829

>>339828
"In the eyes of the soldiers here, you are too. If you want to live, you must come with me!"

Wf+6 339830

>>339828
"Luna told me that they are fated to go to Autumnsreach. That is where you need to go to talk to Luna yourself. There may be land routes, but… it will take a very long time, and the road may not be safe."

Summer Seas [Cleric] 339832

>>339830
I stay silent for a few more moments.
>>339829
"…okay."
I start making my way back to the ship, Spring in tow.

Light Heart [Warlord] 339835

>>339827
I gently place my hoof on her head
"Apologies, miss Rosemary. Things got out of hoof, unfortunately. You do look pretty terrible, if you don't mind me saying so."

Emrille [Gunslinger] 339836

>>339832
>>339830
"Let's move, let's move!"
Urge them along and get back!
To the ships!

Wf+6 339842

>>339835
She gives a weak nod in between the tears.

>>339836
>>339832
You head back through the portals, and they close.

With that, Abilio leaves and the cannon tempo picks up. You hear a few monstrous sounding explosions, then a yell from up above.

"FULL SAIL!"

The raid of Stonebriar City has ended.

[Pause]

Light Heart [Warlord] 339844

>>339842
I motion Terrebonne to leave, then pull Rosemary in for a hug. She probably needs some comfort about now.

And frankly, so do I.

Not that I would admit that, of course.

Roll #1 9, 4 = 13

Wf+6 339988

>>339986
Simply gesturing for your superior officer to leave is probably not advisable, but Miss Terrebonne has things to do elsewhere, so she just gives an annoyed look as she goes.

You have your hug, but it's marred by the fact that she's still pretty injured and you're freshly returned to the world of the living.

Light Heart [Warlord] 339990

>>339988
It was a polite gesture!

Miss Rosemary can have her rest, it's been a long day

Felfire [Necromancer] 339991

>>339988
Okay I really need to find somepony to take a look at my wings. Like, really do. Where is everypony anyway? Especially Face, Terre and Doc Peg.

Emrille [Gunslinger] 339992

So I guess it's time for awkwardness.

Go to Spring.
"Uh…hey…"

Summer Seas [Cleric] 339994

>>339992
I give her a cautious look as she approaches.

Wf+6 339996

>>339991
You find Doc Peg and Miss Terrebonne on the main deck of the Pillager's fancy, working on survivors and non-survivors respectively. Face is nowhere to be seen.

>>339992
She's busy hugging Summer in the corner, but looks up at you cautiously. "What is it?"

>>339990
Rosemary retires to your bed in the bunkhouse.

When everyone sleeps, night falls and next day starts.

Felfire [Necromancer] 339998

>>339996
I guess he's happily sharing the bed with some booty.
Let's walk up to the doc and show him my wings, once he's done with more urgent matters.

Emrille [Gunslinger] 339999

>>339996
"I just wanted to say I'm sorry… I thought this thing will be easy fun and money like my earlier jobs, and dragged you with me to that bank, then… yeah, what happened was my fault, and it's not only what I did to you, what I put your filly through as well… so I'm really sorry, even if it means nothing. I paid for your revival too, so Summer didn't have to."

I sigh.
"I don't suppose you even want to talk to me or let me even be near you after this…"

Wf+6 340000

>>339998
That… could be a while. The doctor looks pretty exhausted, and there are a lot of mortally wounded pirates on the ship. Mostly ancillary crew, those that do the praiseless jobs of working the bilge and sails. They get no glory, yet remain in the line of cannonfire.

You take a spot in line. You count thirty or forty ponies ahead of you.

Wf+6 340002

>>339999
She also sighs. "You're not a bad pony, Emrille. You just choose to place yourself in bad circumstances. I hope one day you make choices that are healthier for you…"

She pauses. "Maybe we can talk again tomorrow, but for now, I'd like to be alone with my daughter. It has been a harrowing day."

Felfire [Necromancer] 340003

>>340000
Yeah scratch that. I need a drink. Where are the still able membrs of the crew?

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340005

>>340002
"I understand. Take care."

Look at Summer.
"You are a very lucky filly to have a mother like this."

Wf+6 340007

>>340003
Those that aren't injured are working the sails or in the bunkhouse, resting. A few are wearily celebrating on the deck.

Passing back below the decks, you see Smitts supervising some laborers moving your loot from Terrebonne's room to the locked portion of the hold.

Abilio is no doubt cloistered within his quarters.

Felfire [Necromancer] 340008

>>340007
Did I ever notice alcohol while looking around Abilio's quarters?
Because I think sharing a drink might not be a bad idea.

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340009

I guess I seek out Alibio after this.

Wf+6 340011

>>340008
You hadn't noticed any, but that doesn't mean it's not there, or that, as the captain, he doesn't have it brought to him.

>>340009
You head to the captain's quarters and knock a few times with the large onyx door knocker.

"Peg?"

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340013

>>340011
"No, Emrille."

340015

>>340011
Well go there already. And bring something to wash our mouths with, if I can find it.

Roll #0 5 = 5

Wf+6 340016

>>340013
There's a half-hearted growl from the other side.

"It better be good."

>>340015
You find some good wine in the hold that Smitts doesn't seem interested in defending. He's busy running some sort of tally as valuables are moved into the cage.

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340017

>>340016
I giggle.
"Don't you appreciate the company of a pretty mare after a near deadly raid on a city?"

Wf+6 340018

>>340017
There's audible disgust in his voice. "Why yes. That's why I am presently entertaining a mare."

Felfire [Necromancer] 340019

>>340016
Snag the bottle and knock on Abilio's door.
"Felfire. Worried 'bout you."

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340020

>>340018
I let out a laugh.
"Ahah, oh fuck, you know how to live. I'll leave you for her then."

Fuck
Go to the Fullmaster or how did they call him.

Wf+6 340021

>>340019
You find Emrille also stationed outside the door. You arrive in time to hear this: >>340018

Felfire [Necromancer] 340022

>>340019
No wait, I guess I hear that. Say nothing.

Wf+6 340024

>>340020
Captain Abilio is known as The Fullmaster.

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340025

>>340024
Aww, fuck
Right

>>340022
"Hey there!"

Felfire [Necromancer] 340026

>>340021
Yeah I guess he wasn't shot that bad then.
>>340020
"Looking for a drinking buddy?"

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340028

>>340026
"Nah. I wanted to ask about stuff, but today was pretty exhausting, so might as well just hit the hay."

Wf+6 340029

>>340026
He WAS shot that bad. But a stallion like Abilio isn't going to let a little thing like a bunch of near-mortal wounds ruin his date. That's why he assumed Emrille was Doc Peg.

Summer Seas [Cleric] 340032

>>340024
I tug on Spring's leg.
"Momma? How am I going to get the collar off now?…"

Wf+6 340033

>>340032
She gives a baleful look. "Hopefully we can figure out who makes the collars and get them to take it off."

Felfire [Necromancer] 340034

>>340029
What a stud. If only a certain mare had his endurance.
>>340028
"Damn. I guess I might as well. Got no bones left to comfort me tonight."
Sadly point at the… thing of copper and flesh standing wre my wings used to be.

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340035

>>340034
I wince, then flap my own wings, glad that I still have them.
"That bank was catastrophic. Like everything in this city after that."

Wf+6 340036

>>340035
>>340034
You can feel the ships slowing and altering course slightly. A large number of ponies and various other races flood down from the upper decks and up from the hold and bilge into the bunkhouses. Smitts passes by you to return to his cabins.

Looks like the ships have probably realigned for the night, so it is possible to cross without wings now.

Felfire [Necromancer] 340037

>>340035
"At least now we can get some rest. Need help with anything before I hit the hay, miss…?"

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340039

>>340037
"Emrille. And I think all I want is some sleep… well, not all, but the best that I can get."

Felfire [Necromancer] 340041

Must be either staring at the moon or in her cabin. Either way, I might make good of this bottle. Check the place where I first met her and then the cabin.

Wf+6 340049

>>340047
In your dream, you imagine you're getting railed by Colonel Rhett himself, his eyes glowing with laughter. He seems to be mocking you, and you can feel the strength and charisma he radiates with every pump. Straight sex: what a nightmare!

>>340048
You find her at the bow of the ship, staring at the night sky.

Felfire [Necromancer] 340050

>>340049
I knew it. Walk over to her and show her the bottle.
"Want to share a drink?"

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340051

>>340049
Aaaaaaaa

Good to know he probably died in that shithole…

Wf+6 340052

>>340050
She shakes her head. "I doan partake, but tank ya fer tinkin of me."

>>340051
Wishful thinking.

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340053

>>340052
A mare can dream!

Felfire [Necromancer] 340054

>>340052
Smile at her, then settle the bottle aside.
"No fun drinking alone, I guess. Want me to leave?"

Wf+6 340056

>>340054
The two of you sit there in silence for a long time. Just when you're about to leave, she points up at a star, and begins to trace through several.

"Dat's Merino. Her domains are clouds and dreams."

You spend a while just listening as she speaks, every once in a while, about the stars.

You could leave in one of the pauses, or stay for the night. If you do stay, roll.

340059

>>340056
Of course I stay. I care about Terre, and right now, I need a friend.

Roll #0 8 = 8

Wf+6 340062

>>340059
Even though you're exhausted, you manage to stay awake until the end.

Finally she picks out one last constellation and names it, and then stands up.

"Good night, Felfire."

It is quiet now, and there is only the slow crash of waves to keep you company. Everypony is asleep except for the helmsman.

It looks like Terrebonne left something behind… On closer examination, it's some sort of rock. You wonder what the significance is.

340063

>>340062
Can I tell anything about said rock?
But yeah, now I should sleep too.

Roll #0 4 = 4

Wf+6 340064

>>340063
You can't figure it out. It doesn't appear to have magical properties.

You retire to Terrebonne's cabin and curl up in your bag at the side of her bed.

–-

Morning.

Felfire [Necromancer] 340065

>>340064
Plenty of exercises to do.
But first, doc Peg.

Gaah
I hope at least waking up is better than my dream was.

Roll #1 1 = 1

Wf+6 340070

>>340066
You roll out of bed onto a pirate stallion that is lying on the ground and nearly impale yourself on his morning wood. Your nightmare was inches away from reality.

You'd fear for how amorous he was, but considering he was asleep, he's mostly gasping for breath over all of the wind being knocked out of him.

>>340065
You find Doc Peg cleaning his clinic. It's pretty bloodstained.

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340071

>>340070
"Crap, sorry, sorry!"

Gah, stand up.
"You okay?"

Felfire [Necromancer] 340073

>>340070
How quaint.
"Hello doc. Can you do anything about this or not?"
Give him a faint smile and show my coppery stump at him.

Wf+6 340074

>>340073
Oh, it's not a stump. You still have wings, they're just weighing you down because they're burned through to the bone and covered in inches of copper. You literally have copper wings.

>>340071
He seems a little stunned and just gurgles in reply, but finally he shakes himself to his senses.

He coughs a few times, then remarks wryly, "If, uh, you wanted some action, you could've just asked."

Felfire [Necromancer] 340075

>>340074
That looks fucking sexy. If only I could use them.
Wait for the doc's diagnosis.

Wf+6 340076

>>340074
The Doctor comes over and gives them a look.

"Anything? Can do."

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340078

>>340074
"I just fell out of bed and you happened to be here, so don't get your hopes up~"

Start dressing, get my west, saddle, hat, and gun up and running as I speak.

Felfire [Necromancer] 340079

>>340076
"Good. How much will it hurt from bad to worse, and will I be able to fly again yes or no?
Also, if it helps you, you can take my shape so we can talk."

Wf+6 340080

>>340078
Done.

>>340076
To punctuate his point, he briefly morphs into your duplicate, twirls the knife in his hoof, and the wings disappear off your doppelganger, leaving an earth pony Felfire in front of you.

Felfire [Necromancer] 340082

>>340080
"Okay that's plenty painful. Will the wings grow back?"

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340083

>>340080
Leave that guy where he is for now, go to Alibio again.

Wf+6 340084

>>340082
Earth pony Felfire replies. "A full wing regeneration? It's possible. You'd need to pay for components, and it will be painful. Very painful. You'll have to be awake for it if you want them to be suitable for flying."

>>340083
You knock on his door and get no answer.

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340086

>>340084
Open it slightly and peek in

Felfire [Necromancer] 340087

>>340084
"You know what, isn't there a way to make these fly instead?"

Wf+6 340089

>>340086
You try to pry open the door, but it seems magically sealed.

>>340087
She shrugs. "Maybe. They're awfully heavy, though, and…"

He touches a point near the base of your wings.

"No feeling in them, either. That won't be good for coordination…"

He stops. "Maybe. I do a lot of prosthetic work but it's usually more elegant than this crude clump."

Wf+6 340090

>>340089
"He" should be "she" there, because he's in female form.

Felfire [Necromancer] 340091

>>340089
"Yeah. Not going to fly around with this. So, how long and how much for the new wings?"

Emrille [Gunslinger] 340092

>>340089
"You in there?"

Summer Seas [Cleric] 340097

>>340033
"Do you think they'd be willing to? I don't like having this on…"

Wf+6 340101

>>340091
She gives you one of your trademark looks and replies, "Well, I can be magnanimous and put in the labor for free this time. It'll just be a doubloon for the material costs to replace the grafting base for wings."

>>340092
Annoyed, you finally get a, "Yes, go away Emrille."

You hear some voices go back and forth inside, and finally, a unicorn mare emerges and pushes past you. She doesn't even open her eyes.

"Very well, come in already."

>>340097
She nuzzles you. "I hope so."

And with that, you fall asleep in her hooves.

Wf+6 340104

You dream that Luna watches over you as you sleep. You awaken unsure of whether or not it was just a dream.

340106

>>340101
"Beautiful. I will stop by later, when I feel like I need to suffer some."
Smile at him and leave, go back to Terre's room and look inside the mirror.

Roll #0 7 = 7

Summer Seas [Cleric] 340107

I tug at Spring's hoof again.
"Momma! Momma! Luna visited me in my dream!"

Wf+6 340109

>>340106
Are you using it as a mirror or as a focus?

Bear in mind that you probably want to know Spark of Unlife before you use it as a focus if you want to follow Narrow Moonbeam's advice.

Felfire [Necromancer] 340111

>>340109
As mirror, otherwise I'd have used commune or seance on it.

Wf+6 340114

>>340107
She gives you a smile and hugs you. "Oh? And what did she tell you?"

>>340111
You see yourself in a banking uniform, like one of the ponies from the Merchants' Guild bank yesterday. You're surrounded by gold, and counting it, like a miser. You are starting to think the mirror reflects images from recent events to describe you.

I have to pause for the night. More minis wherever miniquests are sold.

Felfire [Necromancer] 340115

>>340114
That would be too easy now, wouldn't it?
goodnight

Summer Seas [Cleric] 340116

>>340114
"She didn't tell me anything… but she was watching over me! I know it!"
I yawn and slowly get up, stretching.
