Your mother, Spring Water, is comforting you outside Humble's house. She seems to think that if there is a chance to stop the Heretic's Plague, it should be done.

Marrowbone, AKA Culled Cline, has revealed himself as the grandmaster apparent of the Blacktongue Cult — a position he does not want. You have taken the Unbreakable Vow, which makes it impossible for you to reveal his identity, meaning you can never tell Dolly her search is over. Conversely, he has agreed to offer you training if you bring him back the Book of Succession and throw Dolly off his trail.

You last left off trying to coax Spring Water into bed, but that filly crying about her morally ambiguous problems really killed the mood.

"I really wish those guys were more organized. I've been running around all day long trying to sort stuff for this evening."

The Lieutenant seems to grow frustrated with your chatting and orders everyone to form up and directs the group into the Mercantile District.

You're all outside the Merchants' Guild bank. It's pretty fancy: marble columns, gold leaf plating in the upper reaches. Ornate facades, and even flying buttresses. Inside, you can see some large lines and a great number of employees, filling out paperwork and speaking with customers.

"We know of a back entrance through a vent. Sneak in it, past it and inside the vault. Stay hidden from the golem, get our loot and go."

Mostly low-yield accounts in comparison to the main vault. Still, there's no way you're getting out with the money without controlling that hall.

"Hmmm… do you guys think a fire would make those tellers and those ponies inside run out for cover?" I scratch my chin.

"Or run away and alert the guards. If we try that we need to seal the enterance and close everyhing, but then again, the guards might corner us."

"Any other exit we can take if we are cut off from the main one?"

"Hmmm… I dont know, what do you mean by that by the way Emrile? Call the guards for what?" I look at him.

I look at the sun, we need to do this fast.

He informs you that there is only one entrance/exit. Which is fortunate in a way: only one place to stop civilians from fleeing to warn the guard.

I tilt my head towards my rifle.
"If somepony gets fidgety, well, too bad for them. If they make a run for it, even worse."

"Okay, once we have control I can place my pets at the entrance and threaten to blow them up if anypony tries to get near them.
That should buy us safety."

Go in through the main door and look over the room.

Please proceed to take place near the walls with your forehooves in the air. I would like to warn anypony that is feeling heroic today not to try anything cute. As much as I would like to avoid casualties, we have enough explosions with us to blow every single one of you to the afterlife three times in a row."

"Oh, and this is a hold-up. I though I'd mention that."

Your cudgel swings very wide, and he goes for the gut. You take three hits.

They've closed the gap, and your pistols aren't very helpful for close quarter combat. You're overpowered and pushed back, taking two hits.

You're at the locked entrance door to the bank, on the inside. There's a panic of civilians, and guards advancing.

You panic and send a bolt of electricity at Chip instead of a bolt of healing magic.

He has four wounds left.

Spring covers your mistake, though, and tops him off, good as new.

The civilians are flooding to whichever corner of the hall seems least occupied. As none of you are near the door, a great many of them are now pounding on it, attempting to get it open.

Spring helps drag you out, a little worse for the wear, though. No longer helpless.

The other guard is looking worse off by the second.

You manage to heal a lot of the ponies that were shot in the legs, but you can't salvage the three dead.

You run out of rope after the guards. Huh. Who'd have thought to bring enough rope to tie up fifty or sixty ponies?

There's a rumble as the ground quakes slightly. The teller's transaction desk is entirely bowled over. There, standing imposingly, the size of buffaloes: Lesser Treasury Golems. Two of them.

One makes some sort of mechanical screech, and they charge.


That was fun, guys. Glad we finally started the heist! You've got the crowd under your control and you're moving through steadily! I'm sure we'll finish next time, on Saturday.
