Felfire, Sandor
The ground cracks open, splintering beneath your party, and a huge, vacuum-like gust makes it impossible to escape. The flagstones which compromise the floor of the crypt give way, and the group falls into a chamber below. There's a grinding sound up above.

Felfire essentially may choose to abandon Spring, Face, and Sandor now and go write down what she memorized from the book, or remain behind to help them out of the tomb whose traps she triggered.

Summer Seas
You're aboard the Pillager's Fancy. Chip has gone somewhere below deck, and you've just finished your lesson with Doc Peg. You wonder where your mother is, and also recall that you have the opportunity to follow Cauterized Cut to get your passport.

Where am I? In the city.

[lemon] 299406

Find Smitts and see if he can share a drink with me.

Felfire [Necromancer] 299407

>>299395
Fuck.
"You guys alright?"
Okay this is not bad at all. I can think of something.

"I am…"
Do I see anything?
Do I have a torch or something?
'1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Wf+6 299416

>>299404
You are at the main gates of the city. You've noticed quite a ruckus has gone on in Stonebriar today. Orphans in this morning, then gang members making a mass exodus, and now seemingly a battalion of naval ponies are marching in the gates. Your documents are reasonably genuine-looking, and the tired gatekeepers didn't give you a second glance.

Well, no better coastal city to disappear in than Stonebriar…

>>299410
>>299406
You knock on the first mate's cabin, whose handle is made out of gold, and Smitts calls for you to come in. When you open the door, you see him at the far side of the room at his desk, reading. Above his desk, on the wall, is a huge spear that you recall seeing last time you visited.

"Yes, Mister Chip?"

>>299407
The grinding continues on. Yours wits now collected about you, you realize a new floor is rolling out from your peripherals, closing you down below. If you want to escape in time to write down what you learned, you'll need to flee now. Otherwise, you'll be locked down with the rest, and forced to find an alternate way out.

>>299412
The pit you're in is not pitch black. You're in a rectangular chamber about ten feet wide and thirty feet long. At the far end of the chamber, there is a lit torch. By the light of the torch, you can see symbols on the floor between you and the light.

Light Heart [Warlord] 299419

"I cant think of anyone besides you on to whom I can share a drink with."
I enter the room bringing the bottle with me.

"So is it okay to drink right before the eve of battle?" I fill one cup.

Wf+6 299431

>>299419
You're in the Mercantile District. From here, you can access the Military District, the Lower Class District, the Upper Class District, and the Middle Class District. Notably, you see suited ponies escorting carriages out of the city, and uniformed naval ponies marching into the city and forming ranks or disappearing into the Military District and Lower Class District.

Besides that, you note an ice cream parlor, toy shop, cobbler, dress shop, and a few other stores. One central plot of land is completely barren of a shop, which seems odd for such a high traffic area.

>>299424
"It depends on who you ask, I think. I imagine that Thirsty Umlock will be downing an entire cask even as we open fire on the city. That's where his epithet comes from, you see."

>>299422
You cross the floor and depress several triggers immediately. A hailstorm of bolts fires out from each side of the wall, knocking you to the ground in the middle of the hallway, helpless. Roll to Tolerate Ancient Poison.

Spring Water and Face look openly concerned about your new status as a pin cushion.

Wf+6 299434

"Yes, you'll have to forgive him his trespasses. He tends to view everyone as a slab of meat, not just you. I think he might have used Summer's own front leg if he didn't think it would break her concentration."

>>299443
"Yes, the crypt of the Horror dynasty? Supposedly it was trapped to all Tartarus and back as a means of stopping graverobbers. Notoriously paranoid, those Horrors were. Why?"

>>299441
You're having trouble getting to your feet without stepping on any more symbols. Spring Water waits at the edge of the runes, clearly wanting to help, but unable to edge close enough.

>>299444
You have your last paycheck from before you deserted. Some hundred-odd bits, which is good, because you don't have a thing to wear on you at all. Literally. Not only do you not have a change of clothes, you're naked aside from your tools.

Felfire [Necromancer] 299448

>>299446
"Because this place was made by the same crazies who made that one."
Look up.
"I could try blowing the top up, but I'm sure it'd close again."

Can I send one of my minions to pull Sandor free?

Sándor [Knight] 299449

>>299446
Are the ones I stepped on deactivated or they just pressure plates that would reactivate?

Light Heart [Warlord] 299450

>>299446
Well that's just a tad bit indecent, isn't it? Go find a tailor instead then. I need something to wear that isn't too flashy and expensive. Just something nice, yet simple. '1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

Wf+6 299452

>>299449
You have no way of testing to find out. You do notice that the whole of your body is on a spiral symbol.

>>299448
Felfire does, though. Your von Blackwald zombie marches off to Sandor's aid and is immediately torn apart as soon as he crosses a triangle-bearing stone. The body is riddled with steel bolts.

Face remarks, "I see what you mean. You could probably just fly over the trapped floor though, right?"

>>299450
At the tailor, you find a mare ready to pack up and leave the city, which affords you a great deal. You find twenty bit deals on a nice white sun dress, a very function-oriented black form-fitting piece, and a twenty five bit deal on an impossibly poofy gown. Any of those pique your interest?

Chip(DD knight) 299453

>>299446
"Well what do I expect from such creature." I pass him a shot.

"As to why I'm here, is the preperation been made for the invasion or is there something needs done?"

Sándor [Knight] 299454

>>299452
"I hate traps…"

Felfire [Necromancer] 299455

>>299452
"I asked you to come, we leave together. After all if it wasn't for you I'd have never made it on the ship.
I owe you my life, for that."
Well now. Zombie torn apart.
Turn to the unicorn.
"Can't you levitate him out of there?"

Light Heart [Warlord] 299456

>>299452
Sun? To hell with the sun. Go with the form-fitting piece. Can I barter to lower the price even more? '1d10+2'

If not just pay up and put it on, then leave and start walking about town a little bit to see if I can find anything worthy of interest.

Roll #1 5 + 2 = 7

Wf+6 299458

>>299453
"Most of the infiltration team is progressing smoothly. I've traded intelligence with Abilio: the Lieutenant's group has set about disabling the lower cannons, though they'll need a key to get to the upper ones. We'd like to remove some key players from the city as well, notably Master Hammond and Major Mudwallow. Aside from that, and robbing that you can get done ahead of the assault will save us time later. Abilio did mention to me your position on restoring Spring Water's age, incidentally. Aren't you growing bold? Even an offer to watch them at night in the brig! How noble."

>>299456
She refuses to do less than fifteen. She insists that price is at-cost and she can't afford to be losing money on her stock at a time like this.

>>299455
She nods. "Right, I was just worried. If I mess it up, he could fall on another trap and it could kill him in the condition he's in. If I was a little closer, I could at least heal the wounds he has."

Felfire [Necromancer] 299459

>>299458
"You saw where the traps start. What's the best you can do? I'm not the bonehead here."

Sándor [Knight] 299460

>>299458
"I can try and jump if that helps."

Light Heart [Warlord] 299461

>>299458
Oh well, fifteen is still practically theft.

With that covered, see what else I can get from this mare.
"Why are you leaving town exactly, if you don't mind me asking?"

Chip(DD knight) 299462

>>299458
Wow, this guy knows his stuff.
"Uhmmm… I just want to make sure… they are not conspiring to escape… and stuff." I avert my gaze and take a shot.

Wf+6 299463

>>299459
"In the dark and at this distance, there isn't much I can do. I'm already at the edge of the trapped stones."

>>299460
Face starts this time, "No, what if you land on another trap?"

>>299461
She gives you a look. "Haven't you noticed everyone's in a panic? There was some big mass killing over in the Lower Class District, and now the navy has come to town. Plus rumor has it there's a feud between the Order of the Virtuous and Holy Guard that will result in more bloodshed today. If that weren't enough, there are rumors of pirates outside the city, and the local orphanage burned! This day is only going to get worse."

>>299462
He gives you a chuckle and slaps your back. "I did say that I wouldn't just you, Mister Chip. What do I care, as long as it doesn't distract you from your work? Perhaps don't let Abilio in on your endgame, though. He's a little bit conservative, for a pirate."

Sándor [Knight] 299464

>>299463
"I meant I jump, and you have less distance to do with your magic."

Felfire [Necromancer] 299465

>>299463
How is the room shaped? Could it be possible to fly over and pull Sandor away?
"I don't see many other solutions, bonehead."

Wf+6 299466

>>299463
I wouldn't judge you**

Light Heart [Warlord] 299467

>>299463
"So, it's truly that bad then? Why is there a feud between these two… groups? They both sound religious."

Wf+6 299468

>>299465
It's a big rectangle. Sandor has made it about twenty feet away from the group. You could try lifting Sandor, but if you fail the roll, he will fall, almost certainly to his death, and you'll be in the danger area as well, even not on the ground.

>>299467
"The Order of the Virtuous are dirty, scheming poor people. They just want to overthrow the upper class, and they'll kill anyone to do it. The Holy Guard are Celestia's chosen! They thrive in all parts of her serene empire. In fact, it's rare for the Holy Guard to visit this city, but the ambassador's daughter is being initiated into the guard today. It's Children's Day."

Wf+6 299469

>>299464
She shakes her head. "What if it doesn't work fast enough? You could still die."

Felfire [Necromancer] 299470

>>299469
"Do you see other solutio…."
She's a filly! I should be able to lift her closer flying!

Wf+6 299471

>>299470
Correct. You easily pick her up, given that she has been shrunken to filly age, and fly her close to Sandor. There, she's able to get him back to the picture of health.

Turns out that Chip may have inadvertently saved Sandor's life with his sex-obsessed mind.

Light Heart [Warlord] 299472

>>299468
"Oh my, lot's of excitement in this city then. Tell me about the daughter of this ambassador. Why is she so special?"

Wf+6 299473

>>299472
She raises a brow. "Why is the daughter of an ambassador special? Haven't you answered your own question?"

Felfire [Necromancer] 299474

>>299471
"Nice going girl. Can you lift him up back to safety now?"

Sándor [Knight] 299475

>>299471
"That's better. And now?"

Chip(DD knight) 299476

>>299463
"Ahahaha…. ha. Uuhhmm… thanks I guess(?)" I blurted out as I hand him a shot.

"Yes, I admit it, plus it will be a safe place to conduct such act. I can imagine what the others would do to me if they ever know what will happen behind those doors."

I then arrange my seating position.
"You mentioned a key to the upper cannons?" my eyebrow raise in curiosity.

Light Heart [Warlord] 299477

>>299473
"I think you're misunderstanding me. Why would a daughter of an ambassador join this Holy Guard? Just how important are they? You'll have to excuse my ignorance, I'm not from Equestria."

Wf+6 299478

>>299476
"Yes… only a few men in the city would have access to the key. The naval commander, Master Hammond, is head of the city watch, and would have one. Major Mudwallow is the senior Equestrian Guard official in the city, and would also have one. Useful, since they're both already targets. Major Blackwald also probably has a key, and there's also the head of Stonebriar's navy, Colonel Rhett. The Colonel is probably the least desirable choice, as he is a legendary pirate hunter. We've clashed before."

>>299477
"The most important function of the Holy Guard is ceremonial. They're warrior-priests. They represent the faith of the empire, but they also are some of the best-trained. It's rare that the Holy Guard are called to solve a problem, but they are rarely unsuccessful. As for why some posh ambassador's daughter wants to join? I'd presume it's to follow her mother's hoofsteps."

Wf+6 299479

>>299474
"That would be twice as risky as if you tried to pick him up, or if I tried to lift him from a distance, I think. Either of us messing up could make him fall."

Face interrupts. "Don't you think there's something to the symbols on the floor? Your zombie didn't kick it until he passed the second marked stone, a triangle."

Sándor [Knight] 299480

>>299479
"Spirals are safe I think."

Felfire [Necromancer] 299481

>>299479
Okay let's inspect those symbols.
How many and in which shape?
Also, what's at the end of the 'minefield'?

Light Heart [Warlord] 299482

>>299478
"… Warrior-priests… right. I forgot how religious Equestria was. Hmm… who is in charge of these Virtuous ponies?"

Chip(DD knight) 299483

>>299478
>>299478
"Well, going after two ponies would be better than going against one. So when will the assassination be conducted?"

Wf+6 299484

>>299482
"An enigmatic pony called the Provost. I don't know anything about such a ruffian."

>>299483
"Landgrave is trying to put together a party to kill Hammond. Conversely, Mellow Marsh is trying to stop Sunnyskies from accosting Mudwallow every second that passes."

>>299481
Map soon. At the other end of the field is a torch, lighting the chamber slightly.

Felfire [Necromancer] 299485

>>299484
"Well let's test Sandor's theory…"
Bite my lower lip and fly back, putting the filly down.
Then, sent my skelly towards the runes, making him walk only on the spires.

Chip(DD knight) 299486

>>299484
"Mellow Marsh stopping Sunnyskies? But why?" I put down the bottle and shot glass.

Light Heart [Warlord] 299487

>>299484

>>299487
The pub in this district is a bustling place, with people clearly in the mood to ease their anxiety with a drink. It's stuffed to the door: you're not sure you'll be able to get a drink here for a while.

You also locate a tavern in the lower class district, but it's swarming with naval ponies.

>>299490

He nods. Not wanting to take a risk on you falling through Tartarus, he lifts you up with magic and sets you down on his back.

"Hold tight, little one."

Then he trots through the burning world of Tartarus and, moments later, comes out the other side, in Humble's home. Most everyone has left: the only ones still here are Humble, Marrowbone, and Cauterized Cut.

"Of course, dear. Let's go."

Abilio heads back to the ship, and you head out through the front door. CC escorts you through the mercantile district into the upper class district, flashing her city identification at the gatehouse. Soon, you're walking through a neighborhood of the most impressive houses you've ever seen. Most of these touring manors is several times the size of the triage center on one floor alone, and they're all at least three stories. You notice a number of large water features, and every estate is protected by a wrought iron fence. Soon, you arrive at Primrose Drive, and head down the street until you get to the last one in the cul-de-sac. Number fourteen. The Goldenblood Estate.

>>299528
Yes, they fired when he crossed the stones.

The skeleton… is safe! Nothing happens when he steps on the equal sign.

>>299527
"Certainly, Mister Chip. Keep safe. Wouldn't want those fillies to be lonely at night."

You knock on Abilio's door at the end of the hall only to hear him just arriving through the gate. He lets you in and summizes, "You want a trip back, I imagine? I'm turning into quite the ferry service today."

Wf+6 299537

>>299526
He looks up miserably, but then brightens a bit.

>>299553
She gives you a kind nod.

>>299558
She shows identification at the gate, and you're welcomed into the estate. The entryhall is a warm chestnut color. The lower floor is in a swarm of servants, picking up from a party this morning. A butler pony approaches.

"The master of the house, Lord-Mayor Goldenblood, has requested you wait for him in the third sitting room, just beyond the drinking parlor, on the second floor, as the first floor is being cleaned from this morning's party."

In spite of the ongoing cleaning, the first floor already looks pristine.

You hear some things toppling downstairs, and as he finishes, some guards burst into the room and shut the door behind them.

"Whats your plan then." I whispered to Ruxiang.
"I rather like to take this as discretely as possible."

Light Heart [Warlord] 299729

>>299723
"Oh. Well thank you. Nevermind all this then."
Put the journal in my bags. What time is it right now?
How long until the assault?

Sándor [Knight] 299730

>>299727
"So are we leaving or what?"

Felfire [Necromancer] 299731

>>299730
"Yeah I got all I needed.
The others wanted us to do some stuff but… I dunno if I still want to."

Chip(dd Knight) 299732

>>299728
"I rather not go on the front gate, maybe if we circle around their is a side gate with less guards that we can enter."

Sándor [Knight] 299733

>>299731
Follow her.
"What sort of stuff?"

Wf+6 299734

>>299729
It's one o'clock.

The assault is a triggered event, but ideally, after five. If you wander into the military district or middle class district, you may link up with the pirates.

>>299728
He shrugs, from outside the door where the secretary can't see him, then makes a leap and disappears up to the second floor.

>>299730
>>299731
You head out of the crypt, not triggering any other traps. Face bounds out after everyone else after a moment of delay. "I've gotta go back to the ships first. You guys do whatever you want."

Summer Seas [Cleric] 299736

>>299724
I look up through my tears, and dash over to the group of Order ponies, ducking behind them and hiding from the rest of the room, giving an apologetic look to CC but otherwise saying nothing.

Felfire [Necromancer] 299737

>>299734
"Yeah sure, whatever."
No undead?
Make my way back to Humble's home.
>>299733
"Can't remember, can't care. Killing ponies mostly. Maybe it'll cheer me up."

Chip(dd Knight) 299738

>>299734
Wow, what a nimbful climber is he? Should have asked him to do that, how stupid of me.

……

Does he look good?
'1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

Wf+6 299742

>>299736
"Come on! We don't want to risk you in combat! Your role is too vital, your life, too precious."

They flee the manor with you on their back, sending out a telekinetic pulse to hold back the mayor and his group. At least no one had to die.

>>299738
He's incredibly rough and calloused, and the place where his wing is severed is not pleasant to look at.

>>299737
There was not an undead trap, correct.

Light Heart [Warlord] 299743

>>299734
Hmmm…
Right, let's get out of this dump. Go wander around towards '1d2'
1 Military district
2 Middle class district

Roll #1 2 = 2

Felfire [Necromancer] 299744

>>299742
No, I meant, I used Raise Ancient, didn't I raise anything?
So, who's here at Humble's home?

Chip(dd Knight) 299745

>>299742
Then wait for his report.
Also..
>>>299732

Wf+6 299746

>>299743
In the middle class district, you meander kind of blankly, wishing you had somewhere to stay. Roll for luck.

>>299744
I got distracted by your Fervor! You manage to pull out a random Blackwood corpse. You do a double-take when you realize that by coincidence, you raised the corpse of Hero von Blackwood.

>>299745
Also… deleted post?

>>299744
Marrowbone, Humble, and Abilio.

Light Heart [Warlord] 299747

>>299746
'1d10'
Let's see if I can upgrade my accommodation.

Roll #1 3 = 3

Chip(dd Knight) 299748

>>299746
Not deleted sorry for the mistake

Summer Seas [Cleric] 299749

>>299742
"S- So…"
I sniffle.
"Wh- what now?…"

Wf+6 299750

>>299746
Face asks Abilio to return to the ship. Spring Water wants to go, too, in hopes of seeing her daughter, but is informed that Summer is out in the city. You can go too, if you want.

>>299747
You collapse on a bench, looking pretty pathetic, especially given that Green Text keeps trying to rub up against you.

A kindly old pony does approach you, though. "You look quite worn. You poor thing, do you need somewhere to stay?"

>>299748
There are three entrances to the manor grounds, all of which are flanked by guards.

Felfire [Necromancer] 299751

>>299746
Well that's awkward.
I think I'll leave him there.
Once at Humble's, talk with Abilio.
"Did anypony else show up while we were gone? I need to start blowing up stuff already. That damn idiot got himself killed… Again!"

Sándor [Knight] 299752

>>299751
"And we need wine. Red wine."

Felfire [Necromancer] 299754

>>299752
"Yeah, wine could help."
Sigh heavily and fall on my aunches.

Chip(dd Knight) 299755

>>299750
Go to each entrance and see which has the least guard. If there is no choice then we may have to go by force.

Light Heart [Warlord] 299756

>>299750
"I wont deny my current accommodations aren't top notch."
I cock him head, pushing Text away slightly
"Who did you say you are?"

Wf+6 299759

>>299756
"Though our lives are very Humble, what we have, we have to share."

>>299755
There are two at each door, and they look well-armed. It might be wise to come back with a bigger team.

>>299752
>>299754
Humble's gone for the moment, but you manage to search her house effectively. Good only find mineral water and milk, though.

Summer Seas [Cleric] 299762

Sándor [Knight] 299763

>>299759
"ANY FUCKING MAGES HERE KNOW HOW TO TURN WATER TO WINE?!"

Felfire [Necromancer] 299765

>>299763
"Oh stop shouting, c'mon!"
>>299759
Where are Cip and Seas?

Light Heart [Warlord] 299767

>>299759
"So you're offering a place to stay? In this district? For free?"
I scrunch and turn to Text
"Mister Text, I'm afraid this means goodbye for you. Seems my luck has taken a turn for the better."

Wf+6 299772

>>299762
"We protect you… and find your sister. She could be in danger as well."

>>299765
Chip is in the Military District, Seas is at the Sanctuary.

>>299763
Abilio exits through the portal and Faces comes with him.

"I hope you're grateful for this, Wingpony. I had to use a favor for this."

He tosses a skeleton on the ground. It's the repaired remains of Fervored Freedom, ready for raising.

>>299767
She nods. "Your friend can come too. I'm moving out soon."

[Pause]

Chip(dd Knight) 299773

>>299759
Perhaps thats the wisest choice.
"This place will be our target, I will go back and report to the ship and ask if they have men to spare." I said to the two.

Light Heart [Warlord] 299782

>>299772
"Oh don't you worry, he has a house for himself."
Turn to Green Text.
"Go home now. You've shown your worth and for that I'm thankful. But I'll handle myself from here."

Felfire [Necromancer] 299804

>>299772
"You… Why… How…"
Jump on him and give him a hug.
"If you were a skeleton I'd kiss you!"
Then gather the remains and start cleaning them up carefully.
Are we done for the night?
