You are an adventurer/wanderer/sellsword/pilgrim/whatever on the road with a couple of fellow companions. Having been away from civilization for several weeks, you were happy to spot several smokestacks in the distance as you were walking about in the wild. Deciding to investigate what you assume to be some form of town or camp, you've decided to head towards said smokestacks. You've just stumbled upon a dirt road leading towards the direction of those smokestacks, as well as a wooden sign reading:

Warmest and kindest town around!

Up ahead you spot a small wooden shack. It seems like the forest is getting less denser there as well.

The pegasus appears to be good at least, although you aren't completely sure.

The zebra however, is clearly evil. A zealous worshiper of Nightmare Moon to be exact. The kind of person that exploits other ponies for their own gain.

You approach the shack, noticing there is nopony around outside. You see some clothes drying on a washing line though, indicating that there must be somepony around… right?

You can also see that your suspicions about the forest breaking up were correct. Up ahead you see a river with a bridge leading over it. And further, past the river, you see some rooftops. Looks like a small town in the midst of this huge forest.

You aren't sure what to make of the town. There seems to be a slight hint of fear in this are.

You quickly fly up and over to the town, from the air you can spot a church on top of a small hill. The town itself is comprised of several smaller houses as well as one bigger building, which you assume to be the town hall. You notice quite a lot of it has been damaged somehow. Some of the buildings have even collapsed! The smokestacks you saw earlier appear to come from small fires that have formed in some of the heavier damaged houses.

Nopony is around on the streets though, the town is eerily quiet.

Everything seems to be completely in place except from a wooden cupboard, which has fallen over onto the ground, explaining the earlier noise. The fireplace is still glowing slightly, bathing the room in a soft flickering light. You don't see anyone in here… strange.
