It is an era of relative peace in the Kingdom of Man. A powerful empire that spans much of the known world, ruled by its many dukes and the beloved King of Men.
Since the coming of the pony race, life and society have undergone notable changes. It is no longer unheard of to say hi to a talking animal on your way to work, or see one sent shopping rather than just hauling the goods. Some even own houses these days.
Not all have embraced or even welcomed this change, but in these parts, integration has been peaceful and thorough.

However, dark clouds loom in the visions of royal seers, as powers yet unknown gather against the kingdom. Hiding in the darkness, biding their time.

But that's something for trained oracles to worry about. You all have normal lives to deal with.
Or, well, whatever you consider normal in this place. The town isn't big enough to be named a city on official maps, but it houses a lot of things regardless, all sort of built on the ruins of the last where the previous experiment gone wrong or chef fallen asleep over their oven burnt down a few places. Some might describe it as rickety or haphazard. But most would prefer it has lots of personality.

And what better place to meet new people than the market… well it sure as hell isn't a square. More of a sort of oblong with some edges. The mayor blames the fifth architect to redesign it.

Lets see you meet some new friends.

454388

Well, a market. Perhaps a meal is in order. Can I find any good produce? '1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

454389

>>454386
Don't mind me, just taking a stroll through the markets and definitely not looking for any booths that are not well guarded and attended.
[1d10]

Roll #1 5 = 5

454390

I walk around the market, looking around for some herbs, ingredients and materials.
"I had hoped we'd avoid the rush hours."
I say to Iron Dust.
"We'll have to wait hours to get our supplies now."

454391

Idly look around for some seasoned supplies.
I need more smoked meat for my next travel.
'1d10'
Also, spotcheck to see if I notice Red walking around.
'1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4 / Roll #2 9 = 9

454392

>>454388
>>454391
Looks like!
Point at him.
"You!
How dare show your face again like this!"

454394

Well I was walking down the street one day.

Markets are an indulgence, although… we aren't in a rush, are we?

See if they have any polish anywhere. '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

454396

>>454392
I'll look at him for a moment, roll my eyes, and then turn back to the produce.
"You're making an unnecessary amount of noise."

454398

>>454390
"We could always come back later if you don't feel like lining up."

454399

>>454388
Certainly. It's the time of day when most merchants are bringing out their top stuff. You'll need to look hard to not find something.
>>454389
Maybe you look shifty. Maybe the guards don't like goats too much. But the guard who seems to be off duty here does keep her eye on you.
>>454390
Seems you aren't the only one looking for herbs. An old lady is taking her sweet time looking through several herb vendors.
>>454391
There's a long line for Smokey's Smoked Meat Emporium and Meat Smokery.
>>454394
Oh plenty. All sorts of polish, from hungarian polish to polish polish. They are even offering free samples.

454402

>>454396
"And you are not loud enough! C'mon, say it, I want to hear it!"
Go over there pass an arm behind his head, trying to squeeze tight.
'1d10'
"Say you missed getting your ass kicked by me~"

Roll #1 3 = 3

454403

>>454399
Wunderbar. I mean, very good. Draw my blade and set it on the counter.

"Let's see how they work…"

Try a little of each. Which gets the best results?

'1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

454404

>>454399
How does this guard look?

454406

>>454399
Excellent. I'll just…
>>454402
Frown.
"You've gotten weaker."
Brush him off a bit.
"So, what brings you to this part of the world? I thought I gave you the slip."

454408

>>454398
"No…let's just get it over with. I don't want to come all the way back here."

>>454399
"Excuse me, miss. Have you found what you're looking for? Other people want to buy herbs too, you know."

454409

>>454386
Civilization.
So this is what it looks like? I frown upon seeing how the market fares.
Walk in with my hat tuckered down to avoid humans looking at me. Anything in the place that caught my attention?
'1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

454410

>>454399
Wait patiently. She's probably somewhat slow of mind at her age.

454411

>>454394
Follow behind, just glancing around siletly.

454412

>>454408
"Teaching you a lesson is not all I live for, you know.
Just passing by.
I might or might not have heard of a few rumors~"

454413

>>454408
"I could always head out and fly them in for you next time."

454414

>>454412
"Whatever rumors you've heard can't be worth much. I've got my own rumors to follow. A new fight, and maybe even a challenge."

454415

>>454414
"Like you would ever be able to track it down!"
Stand back and put a hand over my chest, proclaming in a theatrical manner.
"I will let you know I've almost found out where they hide!"

454416

>>454403
"No polish like polish polish. A polish polish polish will polish over any non-polish polish with ease."
He sure talks a lot…
Bur at least the polish is good.
>>454404
She looks a bit inexperienced, but eager. Odds are she's new to town patrol duty. From the looks of it, she's new to swords too. She's tied the sheath all wrong.
>>454408
She turns around and looks at you under her fat brows
"Listen sonny, I need very specific herbs for my cooking, and I intend to find them even if it takes all day."
>>454409
You walk right into a human and knock him over.
"Hey! Watch it!"

454417

>>454415
I'll raise an eyebrow.
"They who?"

454418

>>454411
>>454416
"This is good polish. Does it work on hooves, too?"

454419

>>454416
I walk over to her.
"Good day to you miss. My, but aren't you looking sharp?"
How's her uniform look?

454420

>>454413
"Maybe you could look around for some iron, gold and other materials? We'll need it for the forge.
I have the feeling I might be here a while with this woman."

>>454416
Grumble.
"They are either here, or they aren't. Ask the vendor."

454421

>>454420
"On it, doc."

>>454416
Any shops where ores and minerals are sold?

Roll #1 7 = 7

454422

>>454418
"Hooves are not armor, they do not work that way.
Neither do I need hoof polish."

454423

>>454416
"Ah! My apologies sir." I give him a nod and turn my head just as fast and continue walking. What are the sights to be seen in this place full of humans. Also lift my hat and keep my eye as I walk now.
'1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

454424

>>454422
"They should be kept clean."

454425

>>454417
Raise a brow.
"Wait. Aren't you after the Black Mamba gang?"

454427

>>454418
"Sir I guarantee this stuff will polish anything from silverware to a worn out asshole and make them shine to rival the sun. Buy a can, buy twenty! Help fund a noble cause!"
>>454419
Standard town watch uniform. They look almost identical everywhere, save for some sashes and emblems to identify areas.
A light breastplate, boots with metal shin guards, gauntlet on the left hand, codpiece, helmet, padded, light undersuit. Cheap to produce, unisex, and offers enough protection to keep guards safe from most criminals without restricting movement.
"Something you need, goat?"
>>454420
"I did sonny. She's looking in her book while I browse.
Kids these days don't seem to even know what floom bloom looks like."
>>454421
You might need to find some of the suppliers for the local smiths, or someone who works with the mine crews.
Though many miner folks frequent the town pub.
>>454423
Well the market is full of people, and some ponies, going about their day and buying this and that.
Behind some stalls, a lady is frantically paging through a big book.

454428

>>454425
I'll shake my head.
"I'm after something a bit bigger."

454429

>>454427
Rub my temples.
Do I see any of that floom bloom?
'1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

454430

>>454427
"Noble cause? These are for your… duke?"

454431

>>454428
"Do tell."

454432

>>454429
Nope.
Plenty of gloom bloom and doom bloom, but no floom bloom.
Who in their right mind would even want to buy floom bloom?
>>454430
"Oh no, with money I make from polish, I will fly to the moon!"

454433

>>454427
Alrighty then, enter the pub and look for dirty looking humans.

Roll #1 3 = 3

454435

>>454431
"You've heard about the monsters and other problems starting to bother the lands. If I can't find a suitable human opponent, then I will have to find a monstrous one."

454437

>>454427
I pout.
"You wound me, miss. I my much separated from my lesser cousins. I was simply curious to know if you had seen any suspicious individuals around today, and to know if you had been keeping watch in the right areas. being a guard is tricky, you know."
[1d10]

Roll #1 5 = 5

454439

>>454432
Tap my chin.

"That does sound noble… What is on the moon?"

454440

>>454427
!
Books! Approach her.
"Miss, what wares are you hawking for this stall?"

454441

>>454433
The one in the corner hugging a pillow looks like he'd stick it in a fruit on a dare.
…or did you mean a different kind of dirty?
>>454439
"I intend to find out!"
>>454437
"Tell me about it. I thought I finally caught that pickpocket and ended up getting pickpocketed myself."
>>454440
She doesn't even look up
"I'm running the herb and spice stall for my sister today, and can't find any floom bloom for a customer."

454443

>>454441
Not that kind of dirty! Humans that look like they spend time in mines! Dusty!
"Who do I need to talk to to buy some ores around here?"

Roll #1 9 = 9

454444

>>454441
Floom bloom? Do I know what that is?
'1d10'
"So you dont have any stock?"

Roll #1 5 = 5

454445

>>454432
"And why would you even buy Floom Bloom? The reason they don't sell it, is because noone needs it."

454446

>>454441
"Oh I know! They are tricky little bastards."
I hop up onto a nearby box and whisper in her ear conspiratorially.
"You know how most thieves target gem sellers and coin changers and the like? Well it's just not true, you know. They know sharp eyed guards like yourselves watch those places so instead they steal from hard working farmers and the like who just barely scrape by. Just some friendly advice for you, mam."
[1d10]

Roll #1 9 = 9

454449

>>454435
Scoff.
"You talk like you have ever truly defeated me!"

454450

>>454443
One of the big burly types nods
"I can hook you up. What might ya need?"
>>454444
It's horribly poisonous at least.
"I'm trying to go through it, but this stock list is a mess!"
>>454445
"I have special recipes that require it. Preparing for a big event, I am! My whole family is helping."
>>454446
She nods understandingly
"How devious. To think they'd stoop so low."

454451

>>454450
"What? You're going to kill your entire family or something?" I chuckle.

454452

>>454450
I shake my head and make a few tsking sounds.
"It's absolutely shameful. But now you know, and knowing is half the battle. Good day to you, mam."
I flip off the crate and disappear into the crowd.
[1d10+2] Stealth.

Roll #1 8 + 2 = 10

454453

>>454449
"On my last count, I believe I had the advantage, 101 victories out of 200 matches."
He's distracting me from my shopping. I need to find something to eat. Produce is good, but I need protein. Let's head over to a meat stall. '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

454454

>>454453
"We settle this here and now then!"
Jump back and assume a fighting stance.

454455

>>454450
I shake my head. "That is what you get if you dont make your own list. Its a relief to know that this stall is not able to misplace such a poisonous herb around the market."

Any activity besides the lady?

454456

>>454451
"No, kid. Floom Bloom is perfectly safe when prepared right."
She taps her brow
"An old hag like me should know a trick or two like that."
>>454452
She doesn't even realize you left, as she is busy keeping a sharp eye on the milk vendor.

454457

>>454455
Looks like a fight is about to break out near the meat stall

454458

>>454450
"The usual, iron, tin, copper… Gold or silver if you have it. Preferably refined, but we can make do with raw ore as well."

454459

>>454456
Now to find a jeweler, goldsmith, coin changer, or anyone else who would have quite a bit of cash around. I stay hidden in the shadows and the crowd, of course.
[1d10]

Roll #1 3 = 3

454460

>>454454
I'll just sigh and rub my eyes.
"A crowded market is hardly the proper place for such a fight. I'd rather this be an actual match instead of a brawl."

454462

>>454457
Ugghh…. humanity. What can be done.

…..
For curiosity's sake lets just take a peek but keep my hat down.

454464

>>454456
I turn to the vendor.
"Miss, do you have Floom Bloom or not, because I can see from here that you don't."

454465

>>454459
Sadly, they all have enough income to hire private, big, well armed guards.
>>454458
"Big order to place for a pony. Who will be paying for it?"
>>454464
She looks up from her book
"Uh… I… guess not?"
The old lady looks annoyed
"Bah. Back in my day…"
She then waddles off with her basket.

454466

>>454460
"Can't you feel it though? The spirit of the fight, calling to us?
Look at these people! They want to see a show!"

454467

>>454465
Ah well. Can I see any rubes to pickpocket?
Maybe the other PCs?

454469

>>454465
"Thank you. Now, my dear, I'm looking for some simple medicinal herbs."
Give her a list of herbs that shouldn't be too hard to have.
'1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

454470

>>454466
"They want to shop, is what they want."
I'll crack my knuckles.
"But if you can't be dissuaded, perhaps we can step into a side alley to settle this, and not disturb them."

454471

>>454465
"Paid from out the pocket of my boss. I'm not asking for a stack of gold bars, just smaller amounts for decoration purposes."

454473

>>454466
The meat vendor throws a pig snout at you
"Oi! Quit scaring the customers!"
>>454467
Some are shopping for herbs and polish.
Two dudes are getting into a scrap by the meat vendor.
An old lady is walking away from the market.
A pony went into the pub.
The rookie guard is inspecting the baker's stall.
>>454469
She looks at the list in disbelief
"…are you a doctor?"
>>454471
"Right, right. So do you need the high quality stuff, or are you looking for budget solutions?"

454474

454475

>>454473
I blink.
"I study anatomy and treated some people in my time, yes.
Why do you ask?"

454476

>>454473
I'll check out the ones shopping for herbs and polish.

454477

>>454473
"The good stuff. But if the market prices are too high today, we can wait with the valuable minerals until some other day. As long as we have our iron, we can work."

454479

>>454424
"They can be kept clean with water and a rug too."

454480

>>454473
Frown.
>>454470
Lie down my stance.
"Nah. We will make this official, another time.
What are you even looking for?"

454481

>>454462
They have yet to begin fighting.
>>454475
"Because your handwriting is terrible. I can't understand a word of this."
>>454476
The herb buyer seems to be arguing about the quality of his writing.
>>454477
"I know a guy who knows a guy who deals in swamp iron if you don't mind impurities."
>>454479
The vendor looks you over
"Horn polish for the nice pony maybe?"

454483

>>454481
"My horn works perfectly, thank you."

454484

>>454481
"I'd rather not deal with poor quality wares."

454485

>>454481
"Oh….no worries I get that a lot."
Do I remember all the herbs I wanted '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

454486

>>454480
"I was looking for something to eat."
Are there any food sellers with prepared foods? Like meat pies, or at least a hearty salad? '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

454487

>>454481
Let's see if I can't get the herb buyer's coinpurse off of him.

454488

>>454487
[1d10]

Roll #1 6 = 6

454489

>>454481
Oooh will they go for it? Stand there and spectate on the upcoming fight.
"Why are they fighting?" I ask one of the onlookers.

454490

>>454486
"Still going for that weak, spiceless stuff?"
Grin.

454492

>>454483
"A good polish can polish any horn as well as any hoof."
>>454484
"Then we're in business. How much can I put you down for?"
>>454485
Yep.
Easily.
>>454486
From the looks of it the deep fried meat salad would be more heart stopping than hearty, but whatever.
>>454487
>>454488
Amateur stuff.
He was too busy thinking about his shopping list.
Roll to not get caught VS rookie guard's spot '1d10'

Bleh.
Back to the produce section. An apple will have to do for now.

454499

>>454492
"Over food? That is low. Cant they just go to the forest and gather something?" I frown.

"Oh wait, you humans cant eat grass, I remember."

454500

>>454492
"If you have refined ingots… [insert average amount here]."

454501

>>454492
"I find my horn well kept."

454502

>>454497
That's because of Stealth, by the way.

454503

>>454493
Yes.
>>454497
However he is gone in a flash
And the guard is busy checking a haystack for thieves.
>>454495
Your nose leads you to a vendor selling soup and soup-like non-soup foods.
>>454498
Plenty to pick from.
One of the booths even has a pony selling fruit.
>>454499
"Looks like they broke it up though. No idea what that was all about."
>>454500
"And where should they be delivered?"
>>454501
"Huh. Never had a pony turn down a horn polishing before.
Oh well."

454504

>>454503
Let's follow that pony into the tavern now.

454505

>>454503
"Hey there pal.
Got peppers and chili sauce?
I eat spicy."

454506

>>454503
Scribble down our address on a piece of paper and hoof it to him.
"Right here."

454507

>>454503
Well, ponies know their fruits and veggies, I suppose. Let's hit that booth.
"Hello, little pony. I would like to purchase a few apples."

454508

>>454503
"THIEF"
I look around.
Damn he's gone.
Check my wallet, he didn't take too much did he?
'1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

454509

I look back and indeed they did broke it.
"Oh come, what a waste of time!" I wave a hoof.

Look around the market and see what interest me.
'1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

454510

>>454503
"Are you implying there is something wrong with my horn, sir?"

454511

>>454504
Looks to be talking with some huge miner looking dude.
>>454505
"Do I?
Boy you are talking with Eduardo Flaminca, Father of the Devil's Dick Pepper. BEHOLD."
He pulls out a softly pulsating, fire red pepper as long as your foot and grins.
"You know why they call it that?"
>>454506
"All seems to be in order then, little pony."
>>454508
He took the whole thing.
>>454509
Someone is screaming about thieves.
>>454510
"No, I'm saying my polish is top notch"

454512

>>454508
>>454511
!
"Who!?"
Jump over there!
Disregard spicy food!
"Everyobody, stop!"

Look around for suspicious looking characters!

454513

>>454511
Hmm? Approach the comotion and look. Who shout that?

454514

>>454512
A capra is sneaking into the pub
>>454513
A guy who was shopping at the herb stall

454515

>>454511
"Much appreciated, large human. Come by our shop if you ever need a sword or some prostethics."

454516

>>454511
"That filthy…"
I turn to the vendor.
"Excuse me, miss. Could you keep those aside for a little while. I'll be right back."
I'll go to the guard.

454517

>>454511
"What does that have to do with my horn, sir?"

454518

>>454514
Who is in the tavern?

454519

Approach him and keep my items close to me.

>>454516
"Thieves? Where?"

454521

>>454511
>>454512
I'll stop for a moment. What's got him riled up now?

>>454519
"I don't know. I saw him only in a flash.
He took my entire wallet!
I worked long and hard for that."

"Red! A thief!"

Roll #1 4 + 2 = 6

454525

>>454523
I'll roll my eyes slightly. Well, at least it's something.
"I'll be right back."
And then off after White and his thief.

454527

>>454522
"Ah just my luck." I keep my saddle bag closer.
"My guess is you will go to the guards to report this? If so, I would feel much safer next to authority than to none. May I come with you sir?|"

454528

>>454515
"You know, I got a cousin who lost his leg a while back. I just might."
>>454516
She is poking at a barrel
"Yes, citizen?"
>>454517
He shrugs
"Polish can be used to polish horns."
>>454518
A creepy looking fat guy, some big-ass miners, a passed out drunk, a few workers on a break and what seems to be a bard of some type.
>>454523
This is PVP now.

454529

>>454528
>>454523
Let me make it clear, that's just to leap at the capra.
Not hit him.

454530

"Okay."
I don't have any money anyway.

454531

>>454528
I go over to the bar-

>>454523
"Wha-?"
Jump out of the way!
Capracraft and Acrobatics.

"I'm on it."

>>454528
"I'd like to report someone pickpocketed my wallet."
Do I notice Red and White attacking? '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

454533

>>454528
"Thanks. And watch yourself in those mines, things can get dangerous down there."

>>454523
>>454531
I cock a brow and turn to look at this showdown.

454534

>>454528
>>454529
>>454531
Well, looks like it's well in hand at the moment.
"Did you really need my help for this, White? It's just a thief. Common pickpocketing goat."

454535

>>454532
It's hard to miss to say the least.
"Pickpockets!? WHERE!?"
>>454531
>>454529
It seems the agility of capras is greatly exaggerated.

454536

>>454531
Acrobatic doesn't exist anymore since months now!
No, I guess that gets you.
Corner him and point a finger.
"Stand down! Now!"

454537

>>454536
So why the fuck is it still in the 2.0 doc?

454539

>>454537
Because we have two docs and evidently the wrong one is in the OP.
The right one is called 2.0 draft

454540

>>454532
"That is good to hear." I calm down a bit.

>>454535
"Somewhere in the market, he knows who it is however." I pointed at my companion.

454542

>>454535
"I saw him in a flash.
He looks a bit like that capra over there."
I point to the commotion.

454545

>>454536
I advance towards you with a furious expression.
"Calling me a goat and a thief! How dare you, sir! It's speciesist filth like you that makes me loath coming into town to buy food and cloth for my needs!"
[1d10] to use Slight of Hand to plant the stolen wallet/coinpurse/whatever on you without anyone noticing.

Roll #1 8 = 8

454546

>>454542
"Doc? What's going on here?"

454547

>>454542
"Nah, can't be. That capra gave me a tip on finding pickpockets. How could he be one?"
>>454545
With great skill, you disguise your move as an angry slap, and leave the coin purse on his belt.

454548

>>454545
I'm not letting you get anywhere near me!
'1d10'
"I said nothing about your name!"
>>454547
Or since it has already happened, see if I notice what happened.

"He may be an idiot, but racist he isn't. He wouldn't accuse you without reason."

454550

>>454542
"Humanoids… ugghh." I just whisper.

454551

>>454546
Aw shit…she's not going to like this.
"Well…it seems some criminal delinquent stole our money."

454552

>>454551
I let out a deep sigh.
"How?"
Look over at the commotion.
"One of those jokers is the thief?"

454553

>>454548
>>454549
"Oh? Your kind always says that. Calling me mean things behind my back but always acting like saints to my face. Throwing things at me, accusing me of crimes, trying to spoil my good name."
I give a sad sniffle.

454554

>>454551
"How terrible."
She takes out a little notebook
"Tell me everything."

454556

>>454554
Still waiting to know if I realized that or not.

454558

>>454556
You rolled under my roll, so I'd say you didn't.

454559

>>454552
>>454554
"Well I was reciting which herbs I needed to buy and while I was concentrating someone stole it.
I noticed him in a flash."
And I point to the capra again.
"And I'm pretty sure it was you."

454560

>>454553
"We're saying these things to your face, thief. Either confess to your crime, or provide proof of innocence."

454561

>>454556
>>454548
Seems you figured it out eventually, but have no proof that he did it.
Nobody else saw it happen either.
>>454559
"And your name, sir?"

454562

>>454558
Not like DM waited for my coutnerroll before saying you planted it either.
>>454553
"No use trying to sweet talk your way out of this one, the human over there saw you!"
>>454561
Uh.
I need to think a way out of this.

454564

>>454561
"Coltstein. Doctor James Coltstein."

454565

>>454561
>>454559
Just shrug at the commotion.
"So the thief is caught, thats a bit fast"

454566

>>454559
I shake my head.
"Well if the good townguard can deal with this, that would be appreciated."

454567

>>454559
"Yeah, we all look the same to you don't we?"

>>454560
""Proof of innocence? Prove to me I stole anything."

>>454562
Let's get this resolved peacefully so we can turn into a party instead of a bunch of murderhobos.
"He saw a capra, or so he says. How do you know he didn't drop it somewhere and blame the first nonhuman he saw?"

454568

>>454564
"Great."
She puts the notebook away
"I will report the crime to the watch, and we will get back to you as soon as investigation yields results."

454571

>>454568
"Hey, but why can't you search him right now? That's our earnings of this week in there.
We need to buy new materials now or my business could be in trouble…"

454573

>>454567
"What would he have to gain from blaming you?"

454574

>>454567
"Only capra trying to sneak away I saw was you."
Cross my arms.
"And a thief looks like a thief no matter what.
Also, looks like you dropped this."
Take out the loot he planted on me.
>>454571
And show it to him.
"Is this yours? The capra dropped it when I hit him."

454576

>>454571
"Business? I take it you are a proficient in the medical arts."

454577

>>454567
"I have no idea."

>>454571
I march right up to you.
"What? You want to have me searched? Fine, have it your way. Just don't let your hands wander too much."

>>454574
"I take out my own coin bag and jingle it.
"You must be mistaken."

454578

>>454577
"Of course you have two bags.
This is the one you stole!"

454579

>>454577
>>454571
The rookie guard gives you a stern look
"Right then. If a search is needed then I'll be the one doing it."

454580

>>454579
Did the rookie miss all that I said?

454581

>>454578
"I have no idea what you are talking about. It was probably dropped by a drunkard. We are in a pub, after all."

>>454579
"Be my guest."

454582

>>454580
She is a rookie.
>>454581
"You know, I'm starting to suspect you just because you're protesting so much."

454586

>>454582
Come. The fuck. On.
I basically shouted that.
Well stop her.
"I believe this is what you are looking for.
He dropped it after I hit him."
>>454581
"So you are saying a drunk, who just happened to look like you, stole this and then ran in here where you were moving around cospiquosly for no other reason at all?"

454587

>>454582
"Yeah, go to my home town and say that when all the capras are looking at you out of the corners of their eyes."

>>454586
I roll my eyes.

454590

>>454587
I'll shrug.
"I've been to Capra towns. Generally nice folk, though shrewd merchants."

454591

>>454580
"Please wait your turn sir."
>>454581
She takes you behind some of the stalls and takes out her guidebook, trying to find the part where it explains how to search a suspect.

454592

>>454587
Squint.
"Capras don't have towns…"

454593

Wander in. Not sure what I was looking for. Maybe some good wand wood, but I can't exactly remember.

454594

>>454593
Looks like there is some commotion at the market. Something about a stolen wallet.

454595

>>454591
Just shrug since no one is paying attention.
Go around and outside of the market. what is next to it?
'1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

454596

>>454592
"Typical human."

>>454591
I follow her away from everyone else and take off my vest. After that I hold my arms out straight and spread my legs a bit.
"It's simple miss. You just run your hand over my arms, across my chest, and up my legs. Nice and qiuck so it doesn't get…uncomfortable…for either of us."
I look away and cough awkwardly.

454597

>>454595
>>454576
"I am. Me and my apprentice work on prosthetics and other marvelous tools."

454598

>>454596
She squints
"Riiiight. Or that I might miss anything you have hidden! See I'm not dumb. I've caught onto these mind games."
She looks real proud of herself as she starts to pat you down, taking her time to see if you've buried coins in your fur

454599

>>454598
I cough again.
"Your hands are, uh, very warm. Do you use lotion or something?"

454600

>>454594
Wallet? Well, I've got to take better care of my things-

>>454595
>>454596
Oooh, what a nice colt. And there's an interesting shop.

"What tools have you?"

454601

>>454597
Just ignore this.

454603

>>454599
She seems focused on her work.
Or… well… focused on something at least.
"A-ha! Found i-
…no this isn't a…
Ahem."
She stands back up
"I think that's… your purse. Not a stolen one. You seem to check out."
>>454592
>>454596
>>454600
The guard returns
"The capra is… checked.
Where was the purse last seen?"

454604

>>454603
Facepalm.
"Lady.
Please. Listen.
This one!"
Hold it up to her face.
"I have been trying to tell you since the last ten minutes!
The capra dropped it when I jumped on him!"

454605

>>454603
>>454604
I'll cross my arms while I wait for this farce to play out.

454606

>>454601
"I placed an order for some refined iron by the way, they'll deliver it soon."

>>454603
"Don't worry miss, we retrieved it."

>>454604
Nab the purse.
"I'll be taking that. Thank you all, but we have work to do. Standing around doesn't make us any money."

454607

>>454603
"Yes, mam, that was my purse."
I blush as I put my vest back on.
"Can you please tell those hooligans to get off my case?"

454608

>>454603
>>454607
And I think I will take this opportunity to leave the pub.

454609

>>454600
>>454600
Just give her an odd stare.
"Excuse me?"

454610

>>454604
>>454606
She puts on a relieved smile
"Well that's a case well solved then."
>>454607
She then pats you on the head
"Sure then. Sorry for the inconvenience. Maybe I can buy you a leg of lamb later."

When you feel #ready I can move the plot along

454611

>>454603
"I have not seen a purse at all, madam. I'm only here to shop."

>>454609
"I said you're a nice colt. Come here! Come here…"
Bend down and make some beckoning gestures.

454612

>>454610
Groan and answer her ironically.
"Keep up the good work, uh?"
>>454605
"If I wasn't such a nice guy I'd swear this to be the last time I help a stranger."

454613

>>454608
Cancel that.

>>454610
"I would love that, mam. I do not often get to share my meals, much less with a capable woman like yourself."

Now that that's done, I'm going to get my thrice-damned apple.

454616

>>454611
Just give her a sullen and irritated look.
"Seriously?"

454617

>>454610
Ready.

454618

>>454613
She gives you a little smile and heads out
"You can find me here on most days."
>>454615
The pony selling fruit gives you a wave
"Right here sir!"

454619

>>454615
"I didn't exactly have much proof.
And the little thief planted the money on me, on top of that.
"

Let's finish my shopping for hot sauce and smoked meat.

"Then here is where I will meet you. Have a good day."

>>454619
>>454615
I wave goodbye to you two and leave the pub.

454622

The entire market suddenly falls silent, save for a few surprised gasps. In a suitably dramatic twist, the sky darkens a little as well, as heavy footsteps and the clacking of hooves echoes from the road, coming this way.

Look up the sky and slowly backs away towards the female human who beckons me to come near her.

>>454625
"W.. whats happening?"

454629

>>454622
I'll eat my apple and watch this little procession.

454630

>>454627
"Just stay focused."

Several darkly clad figures march into the market. In the middle of the formation is one in a fancy hat, coat and cape, riding atop a horse.
A few pegasi flutter high above, providing the dark ambient clouds.
The emblems on their outfits are hard to mistake, as if their demeanor did not speak volumes of who they are. This is a band of inquisition witch hunters.
The leader motions for his followers to go set up posters as he himself rides to the middle of the market to take a look around the area.

454633

>>454632
I watch from where I am.

454634

A reward has been placed on the heads of the six known rogue witches known as the Coven of Gloom.
Any information that leads to the capture or death of its members will be rewarded. Harboring these witches is a crime punishable by death.]

454645

>>454641
Answer with a cold expression.
"Their preys can't run, usually."

454646

>>454644
>>454637
"Looks like we have nothing to fear.
All our magic is perfectly safe and regulated."

454647

>>454645
"You make it sound like you pity the witches. They're responsible for most of the things that are happening in this kingdom."

454648

>>454632
I'll follow his orders and start making some postings. Who do we have on these flyers anyway?

454649

>>454643
I nod.

>>454644
"'Rogue witches'? How does that work? Did they lose their witchcraft license?"

454650

>>454622
>>454644
These Inquisitors… I wonder how much for a trained pegasus.

454651

"And even after the best efforts of the witch hunters, they are still at large.
Nevertheless, the hunters keep claiming success after success.
Doesn't it ring any alarm bell with you?
We should see what they want."

454652

>>454649
"They probably used forbidden magic."

"… Do you think the reward would be worth it, doc? You could expand your business."

454656

>>454648
The Inquisitor Lord motions you closer
"Danner. Think you can handle a little local color?"

454657

>>454651
"They fight the symptoms instead of striking at the witches. Either because they can't find them, or because that's all they're strong enough to do."
I'll shrug.
"Though they might have leads, I suppose."

454658

>>454652
>>454649
"Caused quite a bit of trouble for my master and I, they did. Inquisitors wouldn't leave us alone. On the other hand, I did get to see their ponies more."

454660

>>454656
"Sure, milord. No better way to root out witches after all. What do you need?"

454662

>>454655
"OUR business."
I pause for a second and hold my chin.
"And you make a good point, Dust. We could use that money. And certianly our talents could prove useful on such a mission.
Maybe we should inquire…"

454663

>>454657
"Indeed."

To check the posters we go!

454664

>>454658
"I've never ran into them before."

454666

>>454658
"Were you involved in any illegal activities?"

>>454664
"Nor should you, you've got nothing to fear of them."

Yep. Checkin' posters, listening in.

454671

>>454670
"You should be more careful with that.
We need to work in a sterile environment you know."

454672

>>454667
After looking at the posters, I will strike up conversation again.
"See, it's stuff like this.
Why do they always jump to the conclusion every spellcaster is a witch?
Anyway, the bounty looks just like a pain. This is gonna bring a lot of rookies in for this.
They are gonna get shredded."

454673

>>454671
"I know."

454674

>>454660
"A reliable agent in this part of the realm. I need to travel a bit, and I trust in your abilities.

He gives you a rather large locked book
"This contains a copy of most of the info we have on them."
He then strokes his beard a bit
"As a secondary objective, apprehend any other rogue hedge wizards you find. We don't want surprises."

454675

>>454673
I smile.
"Well, let's inquire about the job then…"

454676

>>454669

"No, you don't, boy, but you look like a good scratching. And yeah! Just finished my training, though I haven't figured out what I'll be doing now."

>>454666
"Well, obviously not. I'd have long been arrested, wouldn't I?"

>>454664
"Well, you always get to see the nice ponies they bring along. Like you!"

Scratch him too

454677

>>454672
"And? Knowing one's limits is part of being a smart warrior. If they don't know their limits, and challenge them in an appropriate manner, then they will end up biting off more than they can chew."
I'll sigh.
"So we might as well sign up before a bunch of idiots do."

454679

>>454676
Push her hand away gently as she reaches for me.
"Don't."

>>454674
>>454675
Flutter over to the guy on the… ugh… horse. Odd creatures.
"Can you tell us more about these witches, sir? Maybe we could help with the search."

454680

>>454676
Just ler scratch my ears.. for now.
"What is your name Ms. mage?"

454681

"Well this was easier than I though.

454689

"A pony looking to be a witch hunter? Hm. Well I'm not one to judge. Without reason.
The six witches, a family coven of sorts, we are hunting, have been revealed to be attempting to recreate an ancient and powerful spell. We do not know the exact effects of this spell, nor where they are preparing it, but we know it cannot be anything good if it needs this much secrecy.
And the seer who uncovered this information was murdered, so there is that too."
>>454681
"Unicorns are not exactly our charge, Danner. They are property, so their crimes fall on their owners. What we need is information on the locations and real identities of these six witches."

454690

>>454685
"Get your food ready and meet me at the recruitment office.
I will take my chili and tell the hunters they can stop looking."
>>454689
Grab the chili and the meat. Put them away in my sash.
Off to the leader of these witch hunters.
"I'm interested in the bounty."

454691

>>454679
"Aww.. "

>>454680
" Call me Maya. What about you, you precious little boy? "

454692

>>454689
"Both of us are experienced medical professionals, inquisitor, I'm sure we'll be able to help."

454693

>>454689
"What kind of bounty is there in store?"

"Strength through vigilance, as ever. All right. Will you be in contact, or should I be working at my own discretion?"

454696

>>454691
I just raise an eyebrow.
"My name is Frost cream… well you can call me frosty to shorten it."
I then look at the inquisitors with caution.
"So you are a graduate of magic school I take it Ms. Maya."

454697

>>454690
"The bounty will be paid by the witch hunters once your information provides results."
>>454692
"Medical, hm? Got any experience with curses?"
>>454693
"Depends on your info. But we have enough money put aside to buy someone a castle if they somehow turn all six in."
>>454695
"I'll have my eyes on you."
The crow that was perched on his shoulder hops off and lands on you

454698

>>454697
"No, I think you misunderstood.
We are going after the witches.
No need to send anyone else."

454700

>>454697
"Are there any leads we can follow? Names maybe?"

454701

>>454697
"An entire castle, you say… Yes, I'm interested. Remember me? I think you came round to my Master's place three times in one day or something."

>>454696
"Whatever equivalent there is."

454705

>>454697
"I can't say I have. Me and my apprentice mostly deal with lost limbs and grave wounds.
But I suppose we could try to treat a curse.
I see no reason why, between the 2 of us, we wouldn't be able to handle it."

>>454698
I nod at White.
"Excuse me, mister.
You and your friend helped me earlier and I haven't been able to thank you for that."
Offer my hand.

454706

>>454697
"All right, sir. I'll do my best not to disappoint you."

>>454698
"I wouldn't. This coven has been responsible for quite a bit of grief so far."

454707

>>454705
>>454706
I'll just watch the exchange.

454708

>>454705
Shake it, putting my other hand over it.
"We don't do it for the glory.
Or at least, he doesn't."
Grin and let go.
"But between you and me, I'd still be wary of the capra."
>>454706
"Me and my pal are experts. Can take care of a few witches.
Or at least make sure nobody gets flayed alive."

454709

>>454701
"Ah I see, an apprentice I take it?"

>>454705
"So you did get your wallet and money back I assume."

454710

>>454708
"I'll keep that in mind. Are you helping with the witches as well?"

>>454709
"It seems so. All is as it should be."

454711

>>454710
"Better us than some poor fool who doesn't know how to fight."

454712

>>454710
"Of course. Otherwise the with hunters would never het to the bottom of it."
Laugh aloud.

454713

>>454710
"That is good to hear, at least the thief was caught and no honest individual will have to suffer through what you have gone through." I huff.
"You said you are a doctor earlier if I am correct?"

454714

>>454711
>>454712
I cock a brow and glance over to Coltstein.

454715

>>454708
"Really. If you're such experts, then we wouldn't be having this conversation in the first place. These aren't just a bunch of hedge wizards hexing the local dumps to create trash golems."

454716

>>454698
"Somehow, I put more faith in the last one who said that. Mostly because he had a private army."
>>454700
"They are called Rotunda, Harrowld, Hydia, Ghaston, Atrocia and Deplora. However, we are fairly certain these are not the names they use among other people.
Not much is known about them exactly, except that Harrowld, also known as Harold Barrows, was a former high ranking researcher of magic, specializing in summoning. However this is a poor lead at best, since the man seems to have all but disappeared."
>>454701
He takes a close look at you
"Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?"
>>454705
"Good. Because being turned into toads and various types of swamp plant is not something most bodies or minds can take for very long."
>>454706
"There might be a promotion for you in this yet Danner. Do your best."

454717

>>454711
"Well, I wouldn't say I'm an excellent fighter, but me and my apprentice can offer medical services. And you shouldn't underestimate my apprentice." I say with a grin to Iron >>454714

>>454713
"Yes, Doctor Coltstein, me and miss Iron Dust specialize in prosthetics but we can also cure wounds or.." sigh "make weapons."

454718

>>454709
"Was. Was an apprentice."

454719

>>454716
"Where are the patients?"

454720

>>454719
"Being treated in the capital. But if you intend to go witch hunting, having someone on the field capable of fixing things is a live saver."

454721

>>454715
"We have a very busy schedule."
Smile at him.
>>454716
"Quality over quantity.
Where was this Harold doing his researches at?"

454722

>>454717
I'll shrug, and nod.
"I hadn't counted you amongst the fighters. A doctor should not try to fulfill the same role as a warrior."

454723

>>454717
My eyes lighten up.
"Prosthetics? I….."
"What is that?" I tilt my head.

>>454718
"Ah… oh… I see."
I then bow my head.
"Sorry if I got ahead of myself.

454724

>>454721
"He was a researcher at one of the more notable academies of the realm. But that was years ago."

454725

>>454716
"We will keep those names in mind then. Where were they last seen?"

>>454723
"If you ever lose a limb, it can be replaced by a construct."

454726

>>454716
"I'll focus on the job first, milord."

>>454724
"We've confiscated all of his work, but we have no idea what he could have discovered in the years since he vanished."

454728

>>454725
"Really?! Something like that exist?"
I then smarten my eyes.
"How is that possible? Do you use magic of some sort?"

454729

>>454723
Fiddle with his horn a little.
'1d10'

>>454724
"Highly suspicious. How do we know that he's part of the witches, though? "

Roll #1 3 = 3

454731

>>454728
"It is a combination of magic and mechanical power."

454732

>>454726
>>454724
"Okay. Last sighting of any one of these witches then?"

454733

>>454725
"There have been reports of suspicious characters in these parts. As well as in some others. But we investigate all leads, be they from small towns out in the sticks, or the great capital itself."
>>454726
"Well whatever it is, he has a strong basis on summoning already.
Then, you'd imagine a snaggle-toothed midget with a many-pointed beard would not be hard to find."
>>454729
That's inappropriate.

454736

>>454729
!!
Shake my head to remove her hands of me! Look at her all flustered.
"W.. what are you doing?"

454737

>>454729
I look at the horn fiddling.
"Miss, the unicorn obviously doesn't appreciate that. I think you should stop."

454738

>>454728
>>454731
"What the doc said."

>>454733
"Not much to work with then."

454739

>>454736
>>454729
I'll just cock an eyebrow, then shake my head and turn my attention back to the inquisitors. Do they at least look like they can hold their own? '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

454740

>>454738
>>454737
>>454736
>>454732
>>454729
>>454739
"All of you are interested in this job too?"

454741

>>454740
"It's a decent way to test myself, thief."

454743

>>454736
>>454737
"But he's so cute like that… "

>>454740
" Why not? Could do with some startup funding. "

454744

>>454741
I roll my eyes.
"Why would a thief take honest work?"

454745

>>454738
>>454731
"Ah, I see, if you need any assistance then p… perhaps I could help, I also like the experience to see how other healers do their art."

>>454737
"Ahah.. well yes doctor. Its just kind of new to me and all." I nod and lower my hat to hide my horn and blush.

>>454740
"Job?" I look at the Capra.

454746

>>454738
"The reason we increased activity in this area is because of an unrelated case. A wanted witch by the moniker of Somnambula has been spotted in the roads not far from here, but has not been caught.
Also, there have been some reports of the strange beasts the locals call Night Seekers being seen here, but those have yet to be verified."
>>454739
The Inquisitor Lord bears the scars of many a battle, and though he looks a bit aged, he's in remarkable shape.

454747

>>454742
Chuckle.
"Killing is hardly hard work."

454748

>>454743
"You should at least ask permission.
You're invading his personal space."

454749

>>454733
"I bet. But I never trust what they look like anymore."

454750

>>454742
I'll shrug.
"Wouldn't he?"
>>454746
Well, that's one of them. The rest are probably hopeless.

454751

>>454743
I lower my hat more.
"Dont do that unannounced, you caught me by surprise."

454752

454753

>>454743
"He's right, miss. Horns can be sensitive at times."

>>454746
"What sorts of evil magic does she do?"

>>454751
I crouch down to look at your hat.
"That is a wonderful hat! Where oh where did you find it?"

454754

>>454740
"The doc and I are."

>>454745
"Stick around and you might see some examples."
I pat the mecha arm on my back.

>>454746
"Maybe we can look into that as well, doc?"

454755

>>454754
"I think that's a fine idea."

454756

>>454754
I frown at the arm.
"Are you doing that with magic or is it stitched into your muscle? Did he make you do that?"

454757

>>454754
I smile under the hat.
"I will look forward to it mister. What is your name?"

>>454753
"Its… mine. Its given to me by a friend."
"Well first and foremost its a good hat."

454758

>>454748
>>454751
"Awww, I'm so sorry. Maybe I can make it better if stroke your man-"

>>454746
"Would you like this one captured as we? "

454759

>>454757
"He must have been a very good friend. What's a colt like you doing out here by yourself, though? Is that pegasus your dad?"

454760

>>454746
"Of course, we can't rule out the possibility that they're connected."

454761

>>454760
"Perhaps we could capture one of the Night Seekers, and then follow it home?"

454762

>>454756
"Magic. It's a tool I use it for a great deal of my work because of how precise it is."

>>454757
"Iron Dust. And I'm no mister."

454763

>>454761
"It's worth a shot, if you think it would be so obliging. How good are you at tracking?"

454764

>>454763
"Terrible, unfortunately. I mostly just pick a direction and walk it."

454765

>>454762
"Oh."
I look at your snout.
"Ah, my mistake. I apologize."

454766

>>454758
Tilt my head.
"Stroke my?…"
"Oh, you apologize, I accept it Ms. Maya. Its a pleasure to meet an apprentice mage as myself in this town." I bow to her.

>>454762
….. !!
"Sorry, my mistake Ms. I will take note of it." Grab a parchment from my bag and list it before putting it back on my bag. Then lower my hat again.

>>454759
"She is. And no I came here alone to study how the human world works. Plus study all manner of things appropriately of course."

454767

>>454766
>'as myself'
>'such as yourself'

454768

>>454766
"She? Ohhhh, I see."
I give you an exaggerated wink.
"I shouldn't be surprised. Anyways, I am here to study the humans too. I've got to say the most fascinating thing about them is their desire to be covered in cloth."

454769

>>454765
>>454766
"It's alright. It happens every so often."

454770

>>454764
"Hrm. What do you think, sir? Does this lot have the right stuff?"

454772

>>454770
"They're a bunch of wizards and doctors. And a thief. Unless you can track, then our fates lie in the hands of luck."

454774

>>454768
"Hmmm… then both of us are in the same boat, as my master told me. She also told me that humans, well… they got cold easily thats why they wear clothes that way."

454775

>>454750
The rest seem to be younger, but they all look like they have sharp wits and strong arms.
>>454732
"Somnambula's cart was seen on the roads to the south."
>>454753
"She is an illusionist, or at least that's what she styles herself as. However there have been reports of her practicing lifestealing."
>>454758
"If she is indeed a lifestealer, she needs to be brought in."
>>454760
"Night Seekers seem to be magical in nature anyway, so they are worth investigating."

454776

>>454769
"You're better in these kinds of details than I am, Dust.
Where do you think we should go first?"

454777

>>454775
"What do Night Seekers look like? What kind of abilities do they possess?"

>>454776
"I reckon we ought to find this… Somnambula first. If she's a witch too, she might know something."

454778

>>454775
Good enough.
"Any description of the cart?"

454779

>>454776
>>454777
I look at the posters then look back at the two of them.
"So these witches are unlicensed or are they legitimate threats? What did they do to get the bounties upon their head?"

454780

>>454774
I nod.
"That does make sense, yes. We are lucky to have our coats."

>>454775
"Lifestealing? Like a vampire?"

454781

>>454775
"A lifestealer… Just so we're clear, can you define that? "

454783

>>454779
"Like he said."
Point at the lord with a hoof.
"Lifestealer. That can't be good."

454784

>>454775
>lifestealing
I go stand with Dust.

454785

>>454777
"That seems like a fine plan."

I patiently wait till this whole Lifestealing part of the conversation is over.

454786

>>454777
"They are described as monsters riding atop flying beasts. Their name comes from the fact that apparently they seem to be seeking something. Though we don't even know if more than one really exists."
>>454778
"Smallish, wooden, pulled by a horde or ox most likely. At one point it was part of a traveling circus."
>>454780
>>454781
"She has been accused of stealing youth from others to keep herself young.
Though most have brushed those accusations off as jealousy."

454787

>>454786
I'll nod.
"South you said, correct?"

454789

>>454786
"That's….that's even worse than murder, really. Let's go kill her."

454790

>>454787
"Are you getting so old you can't remember what was said a minute ago?"
Smirk.

454791

>>454790
"Never hurts to double check."

454792

>>454787
"That was the last info we had."
>>454789
"We don't pay for murder. She is under suspicion, but not lawless."

454793

>>454780
"Indeed indeed." I smile

>>454783
"Life stealing, well I do heard that foul magic from my master before and is really a deplorable spell but…."
I stare at the two doctors.
"…. are you two sure you will go witch hunting? I mean your skills are not the best fit, well I am just saying."

>>454786
>>454781
"Uggh…. life-stealing youth. No wonder the inquisition are after such a witch."

454794

>>454792
"If we find her, and she is practicing life-theft, You don't mind if we take matters into our own hands?"

454795

>>454792
"So you want us to tie her up and bring her back to town? We can do that too, I guess."

454796

>>454794
>>454795
"Proof of the crime and a live capture are always preferred."

454797

>>454794
Exchange a worried stare with him.
"Hey, remember what I always tell you.
If she surrenders…"

454798

>>454794
"We do. We need proof, not a corpse. And we have enough problems without having to deal with murderous vigilantism."

454799

>>454797
>>454796
I'll shrug.
"Well enough. You have rope, I assume?"

454800

>>454793
"I'm a weaponsmith as well, so I test my merchandise. I know my way around a fight."

454801

>>454796
>>454799
"Or maybe rope that keeps her from using magic?

454802

>>454793
"It's a horrible theft. Not to mention it blackens those who seek to use such powers for good."

454803

>>454799
"Let me buy some more.
Never know what might happens.
Some of our new friends here might not be able to jump off a cliff and land without a problem."

454804

>>454802
"Exactly. So when do we depart, if we're all interested?"

BURST IN ON THE SCENE

Walking up to this gentlemanly group, various calligraphic fliers in tow

"Excuse me, I don't mean to intrude but if you could divert your attention just long enough to give this a look over"

[Flier]

454806

>>454800
>>454802
I just scratch my head and smile.
"If you two say so. But I am still here to follow you two in your quest to heal and help people of their sickness and disabilities."

>>454804
I shrug a bit.
"Perhaps we need to plan, and list things that we need."

454807

>>454805
"Mmis Cyverias's? What's this thing drawn on the back? It's too fuzzy to be a human, is it a capra? Is Mmis Cyverias a capra?"

454808

>>454805
The Inquisitor Lord grabs one with his ironclad gauntlet
"And just what is this?"

454809

>>454805
Take a gander.
"… What's this?"

>>454806
"As you wish."

454810

>>454805
"What's this.? Are you selling ponies? Come to think of it, once I get my magery business up and running I'd like a unicorn assistant. "

454811

>>454805
I'll walk slightly southward, then start tapping my foot. I'm letting a fight get away.

454813

>>454808
I will go buy some rope.

454814

>>454813
You find some in the shop of a nearby general goods salesman

454815

>>454808
"Looks like a brothel, sir. Obscene, but hardly heretical."
I frown.
"Though I can't say I approve of this advertising."

454816

>>454808
"What you make of it, of course. I am only looking to expand certain qualities of my business. Take that as you will.

454817

>>454814
Good. Back to the group.
>>454811
"What did I miss?"

454818

>>454817
"Brothel advertisements and more dithering."

454821

>>454817
"A mare is handing out advertisements for her brothel."
I give you the flier I got.
"You should check it out."

454822

>>454809
"A flier, of course."

>>454810
"Selling!? Haha, oh no. But what I would offer through this would extend some ownership… for a time."

454823

>>454815
"The law is not a matter of opinion, Danner. We deal in reducing crime, not being moral guardians."
>>454816
"I trust you have permissions for everything you do?"

454825

>>454805
>>454805
Just hide myself under my hat upon seeing the flyer

>>454822
"Here, take it." I pass her the flyer back.

>>454810
Just give her an awkward look.

454826

>>454822
"For a brothel with ponies?"
I tear the flyer in half.
"No thank you."

454827

>>454818
"How lovely."
>>454821
"Please. I could never accept the services of a member of your family."

454828

>>454823
"Had I not any permissions to appropriate such… public promoting, I doubt I would be here. But I'm sure you would permiss such a freely decided business no?"
Compassion '1d10'

>>454826
Frown at the flier
"Understood, but then again not every one would openly admit to such actions in open day.."

Roll #1 4 = 4

454829

>>454816
I look over the flier.
"What?!? This is an outrage!
Did these ponies consent to you selling their dignity like that?"

454830

454831

454832

>>454822
"…rental? Hardly cost effective for a 24/7 assistant. Never mind, pony."

454833

>>454827
"The way you grabbed me earlier suggested otherwise~"
I turn around and walk over to another part of the group with a flick of my fluffy tail.

>>454823
"Is there anything else we need to know about her, sir?"

454835

>>454823
"Of course. Still, this seems more like an issue for the constabulary."

454836

>>454831
Look taken aback
"Of course they did! I wouldn't be talking to you now if I would even think to betray my own kind!"

454837

>>454828
"Thank you but no thanks, miss."

454838

>>454836
"And they receive a fair share of the profits as well, I assume?"

454839

>>454833
Chuckle a bit and pay him little mind.
>>454838
Groan.
"Sir, I'm sure this is no different than any other brothel."

454840

>>454839
"You'd know, wouldn't you."

454841

>>454838
"Pay a visit and I'll show you first hand~"

454842

>>454839
"That's why I'm asking. Do you know how many brothels exist where ponies are simply sold like that!"

>>454841
Spaghettiroll '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

454843

>>454841
"I wouldn't dream of it."

454844

>>454838
>>454839
"Wait, this is a brothel for ponies?"

Look a little enlightened.

"Oooh."

454845

>>454833
"I have files if you need more information."

454846

>>454832
I look at her.
"You are looking for a unicorn assitant?"

454847

>>454840
Grin and pass a hand through my hairs.
"It's just my magnetic fashion, friend."
>>454842
"But the animal did say they were not slaves."

454848

>>454847
"The only thing you attract are fists."
I'll cross my arms.
"We're burning daylight. We should be hunting that witch, not talking about brothels and bawdy ponies."

454849

>>454843
"Well then, you needn't worry yourself about the lives of willing others."
Brush my tail against his face '1d10'
and then tend to other tables, quietly passing fliers around to whoever is willing to listen

Roll #1 1 = 1

454850

>>454847
I just frown at upon hearing this business and keep quiet.

>>454848
"I agree, anything better but that." I frown.

"Many a year ago, I traveled with them as an illusionist. My tricks made them money from patrons, they kept me fed and safe.
But I left them once I found out their secrets.
The strongman got sick, and never got better. Though he never got weaker either. Just… sick. Coughed a lot. Had weeping sores and strange pustules. But he never seemed to care. Now given I never knew him well, so I thought he was just being a tough macho man.
But then I realized it was not just him. Others were getting sick too.
And so were patrons.
It was then I realized they had to be spreading that blight willingly. So I fled, and have not stopped fleeing since, lest they catch up with me somewhere."

It's members are known as Rotunda, Harrowld, Ghaston, Hydia, Atrocia and Deplora. However, it is unlikely that these are the names they are known with, as it turns out Harrowld went by Harold Barrows, a notable scholar of summoning arts before his disappearance.
Now the party has found the cart of the witch Somnambula, accused of stealing life from others to maintain her long age.

"Clothes? Really? No kidding? Wow, imagine that. Cloth things you wear on your body are called clothes."

455644

>>455640
"I see I see, looks like the both of us didnt get enough sleep as we should."

I then look at the inquisitor and the others.
"Have we done our job here? I thought the group inquisitor is going to arrest the witch?"

455645

>>455644
Perk up.

"You know about witches?"

455646

>>455644
"We are going to lure the other witches out. Our job has just begun."
>>455645
"Another hunter?"

455647

>>455642
"Witch hunter, huh?"
She nods back towards the others
"I think you might as well talk to those guys then."

455648

>>455643
"Hakama."

>>455645
>>455644
Listen in.

455649

>>455642
"You too, then?"

455650

>>455649
>>455646
Cheerily announce, "Then fate smiles upon us! Good fortune and good health all around."

455651

>>455648
"Thank you."

455652

>>455650
"I don't suppose you found any more clues along the way?"

455653

>>455651
"You are welcome."

>>455650
Nod at this.

455655

>>455650
Raise a brow.
"Indeed. If one more is in for the long run, we might have a better chance after all.
We have a plan to capture the witches already."

455656

>>455645
"Ah I.."

>>455646
"I.. I see, then lets get going."

>>455647
Is the old lady still with us? How about the cart?

455657

>>455655
"If we're not just being led into a trap."

455659

>>455655
"Excellent. Could you elaborate?"

455660

>>455659
"The basic idea is to use this witch as bait to lure the chaos circus to a point, and then take care of them in one fell swoop."

455661

>>455655
Listen in.

455662

>>455657
"A trap in a crowded city?"
>>455659
"Somnambula will set up a show in a large town, to lure the ones looking for her. Namely, the other witches."

455663

>>455656
She locked the cart again and is finishing up feeding the ox

455664

>>455655
"Oh? Good! I was not optimistic for their survival. But life is good! Live, let live! As long as we serve justice yet."

>>455652
"No… we traveled this way in search of clues in next town over, thinking last one would be picked clean of clues."

455665

>>455664
"I like your ideals, new one. What's your name?"

455666

>>455664
I'll just roll my eyes and look elsewhere.

455667

>>455662
"Lure them out in a large town? Isnt that dangerous?" I scratch my head.

455668

>>455662
"That's a surprisignly good plan."

455669

>>455667
"Someone will have to evacuate the crowd if things take a turn for the worse."
>>455668
"I told you."
Smirk.

455670

>>455662
"Excuse me, if I might be the voice of caution here, that sounds dangerous."

455671

>>455660
"Should we trust a witch?"

>>455664
"Well darn."

455672

>>455667
"It is. I won't allow innocents to be put in danger by this."

455673

>>455671
"Of course not. But so long as she's willing to cooperate, then I have no qualms about using her assistance."

455674

>>455670
"On which account?
Dangerous for us, for the people in our way or dangerous for the witches?"
>>455672
"Good! We have a volounteer for civilian protection duty!"

455675

>>455669
"Who would do that?"

>>455672
I nod at the inquisitor.
"See, even the human agree's with me."

455676

>>455662
>>455660
"I think it is a good plan.
But…what about the lifestealing?
We can't let her steal more."

455677

>>455673
"And what of her crimes?"

455678

>>455676
Wait, did we find proof she was a lifestealer during the night?

455679

>>455676
"If she tries, then we just beat the stolen years out of her."

455680

>>455674
"On the account of the witches, yes, but all of them would be right there. At once. Powerful witches, all of them.
Not to mention the innocent passerbyes."

455681

>>455674
"No. We will not be doing this in a populated area."

>>455677
"I plan to have a long chat with her about those once all this is over. I still have a few questions for her."

455682

>>455679
"I don't think Soul magic works that way."

>>455680
"He's right, it sounds like a big risk."

455683

>>455678
"not direct proof.
However she was carrying some unusual clothes for an old woman."

>>455679
"But those years cannot be returned to her victims anymore."

455684

>>455681
"It's the only place they will set up."

455685

>>455665
"In my home country, I am called 回避遠い地方から揺るぎない一族の勇敢な心の息子と偉大な慈悲の彼とは、精神を飼いならされていない, but please, call me Master Kaihi."

>>455680
"I will make sure you are safe, Hitokai-kun."

455686

>>455683
I look at him and keep my voice down.
"Wait, you guys also go through her luggage?!"

>>455681
I nod at him.
"Its too risky."

455687

>>455685
"I am more worried about your safety, Master."

455688

>>455683
"Then at least she will be unable to take any more."
I'll frown.
"And I expected the thief to go through her things, but not you, doctor."

455689

>>455684
"They're after the witch, right?"

455690

I know I just did this, but when you feel like kicking the plan into motion, just chat with Somnambula and we can get a move on.

455691

>>455681
"We will be doing it near one then.
It should suffice.
The entrance to a major town, for one.
And rest your suspicions for once."
>>455685
"Ah, master? Are you a martial artist too?"
Take a ready stance.
"I am White the Right Hand, master of the God Hand style!"

455692

>>455688
"The thief showed it to me. I cannot ignore evidence if he shows it to me."

>>455686
"Not me."

455693

>>455687
Laugh and pat Hitokai.

"Well, I am sure I will be okay, but you pose a point about the bystanders."

>>455691
Nod. "We will have to spar together! I am master of the Blunted Blade style!"

455694

>>455692
"So you and… the thief?" I raise an eyebrow.

455695

>>455693
Glance up at him as he pats me.
"The voice of reasons says it should be organized on some sort of outskirts."

455696

>>455691
I'll snort at that.
"'Master' indeed. Only one could claim that title, and neither of us are he. Yet."
>>455692
"Eh."
>>455693
"The fool is mostly bluster, but don't let him catch you by surprise."

455697

>>455690
I'm ready.

455698

>>455696
"I can prove that Master Kaihi has indeed earnt his title of Master of the Blunted Blade style."

455699

>>455693
>>455696
"Only because you refuse to back down, Red."
Grin at him.
"One of these days Master Kaihi. As soon as we can allow ourselves some respite."

455700

>>455690
I'm just waiting for the others to make up their minds.

455701

>>455694
>>455696

"I was sitting here and the thief showed me what he had found.
Was I supposed to ignore this evidence, simply because he had gotten it in dubious way?"

455703

>>455691
"I suspect everyone."

>>455690
I'm ready to go.

455704

>>455696
>>455699
"It will be good sport regardless of titles."

455705

>>455698
"I was not questioning your master's skills, little pony."
>>455699
"If ever I thought you actually earned the title, I would gladly throw it to your feet. But that day is long in coming."
>>455701
"No. But you should make such sources clear to avoid drawing suspicion to yourself."
I'm pretty much ready to go.

455706

>>455704
"Master if I might remind you we have more important matters at hands and hooves, respectively."

455707

>>455705
Just nod.

455708

>>455701
"I didnt know we got a thief in the group." I just tilt my head.

455709

>>455706
"Don't fret so much, little one. We are waiting on Somnambula to get ready for the travel."

455710

Somnambula finishes with her ox and hops on the driver seat
"Was that all, then?"

455711

>>455701
"You say that like having a thief isn't useful."

>>455708
"Baseless lies and accusations."

455712

>>455690
Ready to go

455713

>>455710
Step beside her.
"Yes. We are ready to leave."

455714

>>455706
"Yes and to spar before noon is improper."

455715

>>455709
"I am merely inhibiting the role of an advocate for Master."

>>455714
Nod.

455716

>>455711
Look at him.
"Eh?"

>>455710
Look at her
"Ah! Wait, you are leaving us here?"

455717

>>455710
"For the moment."

455718

>>455714
Raise a brow.
"Never heard of such practice. How strange."

455719

>>455713
"Good. Go along then. It was nice having tea."
>>455716
"It's a cart for one."
>>455717
"Let's hope we don't meet again then, Inquisitor."

455720

>>455716
"Nothing."
I ruffle your mane.

455721

>>455719
"Oh, I'm not leaving you just yet, witch."

455722

>>455719
"We are following you, mylady.
There are witches to catch and scores to settle."

455723

>>455716
"He's touting the utility of a thief and denying he's one in the same breath. Don't pay attention to him, aside to keep your wallet safe."

455724

>>455718
"Typically the morning is for sharpening the mind."

455725

>>455719
"Wait, I thought we are going to follo…"

>>455722
"Ah yes."

>>455723
"Oh, I…. " I frown a bit then look back at the capra.

455726

>>455721
>>455722
"And here I had hoped you would have abandoned tat ridiculous plan after sleeping on it.
Fine.
There is a town not many hours from here. We can set up there, if you so insist."

455727

>>455720
After a bit of ruffling and then arranging my mane, I put on my hat and lower it.

455728

>>455726
"I'm sure the inquisitor would."

455729

>>455726
"I think we do."

455730

>>455726
"C'mon, it's gonna be fun.
A good old magic show."

455731

>>455726
"Let's move then."

455732

>>455726
I'll gather my things, and kick dirt over the dead fire. I'm ready to go whenever they are.

455733

>>455728
"I do."

455734

>>455726
Nod and follow.

455735

And off you go then. If you want to chat, do it now.
When you are done, tell me that you are #ready and we'll hit the next plot part.

>>455731
>>455733
"Any plans on how to keep the populace of the nearby town safe? Its a magic show and.. children might watch. I would want to watch too so you can see why I am very concerned about this."

455746

>>455743
"Set some boundaries, and be ready to corral them when we have to."

455747

As you start nearing the city, the faint sound of carnival music can be heard.

455748

>>455747
"Would you look at that…"
Keep close to the witch.

455749

>>455747
"Speak of the devil, and he appears. It seems we may not need the distraction after all, except to lure any victims away from the circus."

455750

>>455747
"Somepony beat us to hosting a party, from the sounds of it."

455751

>>455748
>>455749
"Let's not make assumptions yet."

455752

>>455750
I nod.
"Let's be careful."

455756

"Party.. incidentally, there was something interesting in the witches' cart. Magical paraphernalia of sorts, and clothing much more suited for a far younger woman."

455757

>>455748
>>455749
>>455750
>>455751
>>455752
Somnambula stops her cart at the top of a hill and goes pale as she looks down.
"Our journey together ends here I'm afraid…"
>>455753
Down below, perhaps less than an hour's walk from town, is a large carnival. Complete with tents, stalls, and great banners proudly depicting their symbols.
"…the Carnival of Chaos…"
>>455755
You'll need to go down the hill and to the carnival to get a decent view.

455758

>>455757
"Why is that?"

455759

>>455757
"How comes? Not gonna set up shop?"

455760

>>455757
I'll shake my head.
"You could set up on the opposite end of town. Lure away the victims with your show, and then we strike the heart of the carnival. Simple."

455761

>>455757
Listen closely.

455762

>>455744
>>455746
I just sigh at this, tucker my hat and follow.

>>455757
"Why? I thought you would help us?"
I look at the carnival, whats happening from our vantage point?
Oh! Any fireworks?

455767

>>455757
"Oh no. You're following through, witch."

455768

>>455766
"Just as well. I will go inside and request all witches exit."

455769

>>455766
"No. The deal was you would set a show up to lure out the other witches hunting you.
Don't try to change it."

455770

>>455768
"I am not sure that would be a very wise move, Master."

455771

>>455766
"I don't think that was it."

455772

>>455768
Laugh a bit.
"Man, I am with you. We should totally try it out."

455773

>>455766
"Why is that?"
I then look at the carnival.
"Is it really dangerous? What are we going to expect when we enter it?"

I then gasp.
"Then.. the citizens of that town…!!"

455774

>>455770
"Hm.. You could be right. They may be wanted for being without honor…"

455775

>>455773
"I expect to see a lot of old faces looking to put me in a boiling pot of pox for leaving them."
>>455767
"I would rather take my chances with you than with them."

455776

>>455775
"I'm not sure if I should find that reassuring or not, but I still have a lot to talk to you about. Either way, they're coming too."

455777

>>455773
"Are likely already being infected as we speak with the chaos plague."
I'll take a few steps towards the town.
"We are likely already running short on time. We have bigger fish to fry than a witch who shaves off days or hours just to cling to a few more."

455778

>>455774
Nod.
"Exactly. We need a safer plan."

>>455775

"Meeting them, and you might be boiled. But make no mistake that I assure you that going back on the Inquisitor now would be a grievous mistake"

455781

>>455779
There must be hundreds of people there. And who knows who among the carnival staff is in on the plague operation.

455782

>>455775
"You are safer staying close to us than not.
Otherwise, who knows what the might slip by my lips…"

455783

>>455775
"That's not a good idea"

455784

>>455776
>>455783
>>455778
"Than what do you propose we do?"

455785

>>455781
Sigh.
This won't be easy.
>>455763
"Notice anything, Dust?"

455786

>>455784
"I was planning on simply walking in and taking out the head of this snake. Simple. Direct. And becoming less and less possible while we talk."

455787

>>455784
"Sneak in and find the staff? If they try to put you in a boiling pot.. there's a reason to apprehend them."

455788

>>455786
"But we don't know who they are."

455789

>>455785
"A lot of people walking around. I'm not sure how we'll be finding these perpetrators in that crowd."

455790

>>455777
I frown at this and give Red a worried look.
"What shall we do?"

>>455787
"Staff?!"

455791

>>455788
"I would imagine that any who are too illustrious among the crowd, or who exhibit signs of continuous sickness would be among your chief notices."

455792

>>455786
Just shake my head.

455793

>>455789
"Maybe that witch knows how to identify them."

>>455784
"Can you tell us what your former…colleagues looked like?"

455794

>>455788
"She does."
I'll point at Somnambula.
"So she simply tells us who is at the head of this, and we start beating this operation into the ground from the head down."
>>455790
"We'll fight, as soon as they stop bickering on what to do. There's only one solution to this, and they refuse to see it."

455795

>>455790
"Mm- yes darling. you need to find a staff~"

455796

>>455794
"If the witches in the carnvical did resist us then I shall do my utmost to heal you and the rest."

>>455795
"A staff? Well I do like owning one but now is not the time Miss."

455797

>>455794
"Right. The witch has volunteered to draw them out, so we should continue on. Keep her…safe…and they should come to her."

455798

>>455796
"Up to you when you get it, but I'll gladly help if you if you need it.."

>>455797
"Of course."

455799

>>455797
Nod.
"This seems wise."

455800

>>455794
"Nopony is bickering here. But one of you humans should take point, as you usually are so keen on doing."

455801

>>455797
"Not letting her out of my sight for a single moment."

455802

>>455800
"You had best curb that tone, pony. I have enough to deal with with the goatman and that idiot."

455803

>>455802
I step forward.
"I won't allow you to speak to her that way."

455804

>>455802
"And I should ask you to not speak in that tone to ponies."

455805

>>455802
"Will you take point or what? You clearly had a plan, so go and carry it through."

455806

>>455803
>>455804
I'll just look between the two of them.
"I speak as I am spoken to. Why continue to show respect to one who does not return the gesture?"
>>455805
"Hmph."
I'll just start walking towards the carnival.

455807

>>455798
I smile and warmed up.
"You would? Well I would be glad if you could help me find one."

>>455803
Stick close to the doctor.

455808

Somnambula goes to open the back of her cart and brings out an old poster
"Here. This may be several years old, but I doubt they look all that different.
The Strongman, he's hard to miss. Head and shoulders above any of you and twice as wide.
The Magician, a spirited man who loves nothing more than talking until your head spins. Often accompanied by his assistants.
Festive and Somber, twins they were. Put on little plays, puppet shows, or just wandered the grounds amusing guests. Or pestering them.
And the Ringmaster. Almost as tall as the Strongman but thin as a twig. Yet sharp in mind and elaborate in tongue. Though short tempered.
They were the most notable of the carnival. They are the ones you should look out for."

455809

>>455802
"Bite me."

455810

>>455803
>>455804
"Pony or human, what Red said is true. She is overstepping her boundaries."

455811

>>455808
Take a good mental note of their looks.

>>455810
>>455806
"Arguments take us nowhere."

455812

>>455806
I nod.

>>455810
"What boundaries? She was merely saying we should hurry up. And she's right, let's move on and stop argueing."

>>455806
I'll walk with him.
"I shall provide healing when necessary."

455813

>>455808
"Very well."
>>455811
"Come with me. Let's see if we can find these marvels amongst the crowd…"

OFF TO THE CARNIVAL!
Let's look for them.

>>455808
"Can I have the poster?"

455817

>>455808
"Thank you for your assistance."
>>455812
"It is appreciated, Doctor. Though I do not intend to require your skills."
Let's keep an eye out for those targets. '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

455818

>>455806
"Hmph, I wouldn't expect a barbaric money chaser to understand."

>>455807
"Of course love."

>>455808
take note of them and follow the party

455819

>>455817
"I hope we shall not need my skills either.
But I'm here just in case."

455820

>>455808
"Interesting. I hope you don't mind if I stay here to keep watch."

455821

>>455818
"You assume I chose this job for monetary gain. That is incorrect."

455822

>>455813
Well, follow, surely, with the Master around too.

455823

>>455821
"And you believe that all ponies were treated with equal respect to humen, that is also incorrect."

455824

>>455819
I nod at this.
"I would also help the good doctor just in case.

455825

>>455808
I go to the carnival.

455826

>>455813
Can I assist with that?

Roll #1 2 = 2

455827

>>455823
"I cannot speak for others, only my own actions. I treat others with respect until they prove they are unworthy of it."

455828

>>455824
I smile at him.
"I appreciate it, young one."

>>455823
"Indeed. It is exactly for that reason I am a strong supporter for equal legal status for humans and ponies."

455829

>>455822
Yes, to the carnival!

"Carnival, no doubt from their word for 'carnal'. Surely full of temptations for the untempered mind."

455830

>>455816
"If you bring me a new one from the carnival."
>>455820
"Sending out your meat to die without your aid or guidance, good Inquisitor?
Well, let's hope they enjoy the ride."
>>455811
>>455813
>>455814
>>455815
>>455817
>>455818
Some greeters near the gates are are calling out to the guests
"Come one! Come all! See the world-infamous Carnival of Chaos! So funny, it was banned in Nordmark! So outrageous, a joyless heart might call it evil! Come and let loose a little! Come taste the less sensible side of life in the CARNIVAL OF CHAOS!"

455831

>>455830
"Say buddy what's your favorite attraction here?"

455832

>>455830
Bah.
No time for such things. Look first for the Strong Man. '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

455833

>>455830
"Joyless heart…"

455834

>>455829
"Surely Master will not be tempted."

455835

>>455830
"What sort of shows would you recommend us?"

455836

>>455827
"Ignorant and naive! I don't think I'll ever need to talk to you again."
Wave him off and make a bit of distance from this fellow and the other one he speaks to.

>>455830
Oh yea, take a look around for some pretty mares! Or a cute stallion of course '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

455837

>>455827
"You should grow thicker skin if you thought that was disrespectful."

>>455830
Interesting.
Let's start looking for these people. Strongman first.

Roll #1 3 = 3

455838

>>455834
"Of course not. My mind is sharpened by hunger. Hunger for justice! A ha ha!"

455839

>>455830
"They are eager, so I'll indulge them a bit. You tell me what you plan to do after this."

455840

>>455838
Nod.
That wasn't very funny…

455841

>>455830
"I'll try."

I then follow the rest to the carnival.
What does the place look like? Do I see anybody from the poster that the old lady has shown us?
'1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

455842

>>455830
I guess I'll look around for some of those poster guys. '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

455843

>>455836
Let her be, then.
>>455837
"Perhaps your tone could be softened, so one does not receive your words like they would a thrown stone."

455844

>>455840
>>455830
"Let us go look for cauldrons."

Search for cauldrons, a sure sign of witches! '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

455845

>>455843
"People tell me my voice is harsh by nature."

455846

>>455844
"Why don't we look for the persons from the poster?"
Look for those individuals.
'1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

455847

>>455845
"People also say that humans are weak and violent by nature. Training would change this."

455848

>>455847
"I'm a smith, my voice does not have to be pretty or soft."

455849

>>455848
"The voice itself isn't the sole cause. It's the choice of words as well. There is a great difference between calling someone stubborn or calling someone pigheaded, for example."
I'll shrug.
"Besides, you're a mare, aren't you? By gender your voice is less grating than a male's would be."

455850

>>455831
>>455835
>>455842
>>455841
>>455837
"Looking for fun? You came to the right place.
All sorts of things to see here at the carnival! The haunted house is world famous! Just how do we get it be wherever the carnival is? Nobody knows… nobody ALIVE at least! HA!
The Strongman and his fantastic freak show is so well known we have people asking "mister, is this the freak show of chaos?" and the answer is NO! This is the Carnival of Chaos, home to the strongest strongman in the world! And a few other freaks besides.
See animals and beasts from all over the known world and beyond! Ride them too if you want to! Safe? Of course not! But what's a few bruises in the name of chaos? NOTHING!
And let us not forget the fine dining! Foods the likes of which you would not even have imagined! Some of them for prices you just barely might be able to imagine! But knowing our chef, not most. HAAAaaaa I crack myself up.
Or, you know, go check out the big top. As in, the big tent. Over yonder. Clowns, acrobats, magic tricks bla bla bla. Eh.
WELCOME!"

455851

>>455846
Scratch this pones ear for being so smart

455852

>>455849
"I called you neither one of those. You were just offended because I called you what you are, a human. People call me pony all the time and you don't see me getting upset over it."

>>455850
"These people talk too much."

455853

>>455850
Target acquired.
"Point me to the strongman!"
Show off my muscles with a grin.

455854

>>455851
Perk up my ear and step to the side.
"What are you doing if I may ask?"

>>455850
"I think we found one of them."

455855

455856

>>455850
Look at the strongman

>>455854
"Is that him? Are we going to arrest him?"

455857

>>455854
"Scratching your ear, silly pony."

>>455850
"Then the big top is our destination? "

455858

>>455856
I motion at him to lower his voice.
"Shhh. Speak a bit more quiet. We don't want anyone to hear."

455859

>>455850
>>455853
Hmph.
>>455856
"Though the inquisitors would prefer it, I don't mind if we don't."
>>455852
"This matter can be settled after our business here is concluded."

455860

>>455858
Close my mouth immedietely and lower my voice.
"Sorry sorry."

455861

>>455859
Poke at him.
"See, we might have found a match!"

455862

>>455860
"It's allright, you didn't know.
Just keep it in mind okay."
Wink.

455863

>>455857
"…why are you doing that?"

455864

>>455861
"And when he's done wiping the floor with you, I'll have to step in."

455865

>>455864
"If I fail, I will actually be worried for your well being.
Try not to lose all your teeth."

455866

>>455859
"Or forget about it."

455867

>>455863
"Dont mind him much, she's really fond of scratching us." I just shrug

455869

>>455865
"There's no trying, White. You know that."
>>455866
"Better to finish the matter than to let it sit and fester until it happens again."

455870

>>455868
"To the freak show!"
Dastardly dare the road!

455871

>>455867
"Okay."

>>455868
Examine the map!

455872

>>455869
"Don't worry so much."

>>455870
>>455868
"Doc? Should we follow?"

455873

>>455872
"We should."

455874

>>455868
"That's it? No more sucking life from witless victims? No…dark magical escapades?"

455875

>>455868
Suppose I'll head to the freak show as well. If White can handle the strongman, then I'll go off towards the animal pens.
>>455872
"I simply don't like leaving things unresolved."

455876

>>455873
And I follow.

455877

>>455868
Follow the group

455878

>>455868
Lower my hat to my eyes. I am hungry but…

>>455876
>>455872
Follow Iron dust and Coltstein

455879

>>455878
I'm getting curious at this pony.
"So where do you hail from, young pony?"

455880

>>455874
"Quite frankly the kingdomwide witch hunt takes the edge off anyone."
>>455870
>>455871
>>455872
>>455875
>>455877

The freak show area is surrounded by a fence, and there is a greeter at the gate, wearing a mask that makes it look like he has another face on the back of his head
"It's the freak show! The freak show! See the strange and bizarre! You're all welcome to join us, I'm sure you could be the star! HAAAHAAAHA!"

455881

>>455880
I approach him.
"Excuse me sir, who's in charge of this show?"

455882

>>455879
I raise my head a bit high with my eyes closed.
"Normally I wont tell any human where I was raised, but since you are an interesting person and a fellow healer I think it will not be that bad."
I then look at him.
"I used to live in the great woods of the north, near neighgara falls mind you. Its a place of beauty, pristine waters and peace, far from the human civilizations that I am in now."
"How about you doctor?"

455883

>>455880
My hoofsies hurt.
These people are too loud.
I wish I was at my forge at home.

>>455881
Let him do the talking.

455884

>>455880
"Which way to the strong man?"

455885

>>455880
"Oh boy oh boy oh boy!"
Walk in with a smile and secretely try to locate this 'strongman'

Roll #1 7 = 7

455886

>>455880
Keep an eye out for our suspect.
'1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

455887

>>455880
"Well that's what it's supposed to do. I still can't just let you go, you know."

455888

>>455880
Just stay away from the greeter and keep an eye on what is the spectacle. What does the so called freaks look like?
Did I spot anyone familiar that resembles the poster picture?
'1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

455889

>>455882
"Why, I live in the other town.
Raised there with my former pet, now apprentice and dear friend, Iron Dust.
I learned medicine in school and as I started my own practice, I saw how interested she was and taught her as well."

>>455883
Noticing her discomfort.
"Don't worry, I don't think we'll be here too long.
Think of all the materials we can buy with the bounty."
I grin.

455890

>>455889
My ears twitch as he calls me 'pet', but I wont comment on that shit.
"I know. I've never been a big fan of carnivals, that's all."

455891

>>455890
Technically I called you a "former pet" as during the time I was raised, you were called a "pet". He doesn't want to imply you're still a pet.

455892

>>455889
I just give the doctor an uneasy look upon hearing the word 'pet' but tried to smile.
"I see, I can tell you care and love her that much specially since you taught her how to cure people with disabilities and took the time to cure her too." I notion the prosthetic.

455893

>>455881
"In charge, my good man? I suggest ringing up the ringmaster. You can find him at the big top, going through the back will be faster!"
Another, who looks very similar to the first, only dressed in a more dark attire comes smack him
"Stop it with the rhyming, you're annoying them. And me. Especially me."
>>455884
He rubs the cheek of his reverse fake face before showing his tongue to the newcomer and turning back to you
"Center stage, where else? Right past the bearded woman and the beardless man."
>>455887
"And what do you intend to do? Take me in on accusations of helping you stop a plague witch?"
>>455888
The greeter, and the newcomer, are probably Festive and Sombre, given their faces and attitudes.
The freak show is a long, winding exhibit of cages and stages, showcasing everything from a cow with three heads to a chaste female capra. The posters near the gates even promise spectacles like a dragon's skull and a frozen caveman.
>>455886
You manage to look the other way as Festive and Somber make their entrance.

455894

>>455893
Oh…
Turn back to see them!
'1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

455895

455896

>>455892
"I didn't cure her. She made that herself."

455897

>>455893
"Right."
I'll turn to the others.
"So, shall we move through them all together, or split apart and attack each?"

455898

>>455892
I look back at the arm on my back.
"There wasn't anything to be cured. It's just an extra limb I made and mounted it on my back for precision work."

455899

>>455897
"Stick. "

455900

>>455897
"We can take them now, I think."

455901

>>455893
A chaste female capra? Not possible.

455902

>>455893
"You're infamous enough that your record is all I need, plus probable possession of unlicensed magic items of a dubious nature. While your help here might be able to take some heat off you, I told you we don't deal."

455903

>>455893
Just close my eyes on the capra on-stage, I'm too young for this.

>>455896
>>455898
"Really?!" I smile.
"Then p.. perhaps one day." I smile…

>>455897
"Right now? Well I wont object but it will be better if we just arrest them if they are willing."

455904

>>455903
I look at him curious.
"One day..?"

455905

>>455894
Nope.
They left.
>>455885
You locate the bearded woman and beardless man exhibit, so the strong man should be close…
>>455901
She has her own little stage set up. She looks plain, and a bit melancholy.
A sign on the stage says
[Try your skills! Ten crowns a go!
Get her excited and win a hundred!]
>>455902
"So in any case, I am not walking away from this?"

455906

>>455903
"Ah.. perhaps you could teach me one day. But not now, well after you teach Iron Dust first since she has the privilege to be your apprentice first." I smile.

455907

>>455905
Can anyone try to get that capra excited?

455908

>>455905
Oh…
I'm sure I'll get another chance!
For now, look for that Strong man!
'1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

455909

>>455905
Oh. Bother. Still, take the head and the body dies.
"I suppose we should hunt down the Ringmaster."

455910

>>455905
Very well.
Walk straight. Can't miss him, can I?
'1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

455911

>>455905
"Not as a free citizen anymore. Your cooperation may take the death penalty off the table, but I am afraid I can't make a judgement yet."

455912

>>455906
"We shall see about that. But motivation is a good start.
Now tell me, did you come here from the falls all alone?"

455913

>>455908
You soon find yourself at the haunted house gates.
>>455907
Of course, as long as they pay.
>>455910
And here we go. The main stage of the Freak Show.
Must be two dozen people here watching him bench press a boulder.

455914

>>455905
Let's try talking a bit before paying.
"You're a long way from home, miss."

455915

>>455906
"Hmmm? Looking for a master, are you? "

455916

>>455914
She points at the sign.
"You want talking company, try after hours."

455917

>>455913
He might be in here…
Inside I go!

455918

>>455913
Hell yea, I got some currency on me! Right? '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

455919

>>455915
"There is a big difference between a Master and a teacher, miss Maya."

455920

>>455919
"Well, it has more meanings for a pony. Isn't it perfectly appropriate for your and your pony? "

455921

>>455912
"I did come all alone, why?" I tilt my head.

>>455915
I raise my head and close my eyes.
"Well I am not looking for 'a master' but I was looking for someone who may teach me the arts of both the arcane and healing arts. That is why I am willing to be a learn both, if I can that is."
"You are verse at arcane studies right Maya?"

455922

>>455916
I shrug and pay up before flipping onto the stage and putting an arm around her.
[1d10]
"What's a capra like you doing in a circus like this?"

Roll #1 9 = 9

455923

>>455918
Seems you do.
Business pays off after all.
>>455917
A skeleton at the door bows and welcomes you in.
It then promptly falls to pieces.

455924

>>455922
"Being a freak."

455925

>>455923
All these distractions. Forget it.
>>455921
>>455920
>>455919
"I am heading after the Ringmaster. Follow if you wish."
And off to the big top.

455926

>>455925
"Doc?"

455927

>>455920
"She's not my pony. She's a free individual who choose to learn the arts of healing."

>>455921
"But you're so young…where were your parents?"

>>455926
"I'm coming."

455928

>>455923
"It is improper to show the skeletons of any being."
Continue to head inside!

455929

>>455923
Good. Is he as tall as the witch said?
Approach him.
"Sir, are you the one known as 'The Strongman'?"

455930

>>455924
I squeeze her a bit with my arm.
"According to them, honey, we're all freaks. The humans aren't important though, what's important is how you keep your horns so smooth and shiny! Please, you must tell me, what is your secret?"

A swarm of bats flies out from a nearby fireplace!
Dodge!

You are struck by lightning and left helpless.
>>455930
"They are all natural. Like the rest of me."

455933

>>455925
"Ah yes." Follow.

>>455927
Run alongside him
"Bah, I am strong by myself. I came here all by myself."

455938

"You have been accused of life stealing sorcery and plague spreading.
What do you say in your defense?"

455939

>>455932
Wait to see what this capra on capra show will do

455940

"DO YOU EVEN LIFT?"

She rolls her eyes and stands up, rubbing her tail in your face while keeping her monotone voice
"I don't get it messy."
>>455948
You notice one of the bats is trying to fly through a closed door. Go help it, or proceed to the living room.
>>455949
You find yourself frozen in time.

455952

>>455951
"Now, from one martial artist to another, let me tell you, someone is duping you.
Bad."

455953

>>455951
Did I just discover a stasis spell?

Roll #1 2 = 2

455954

>>455951
>>455949
Look at her.
"Uhhmmm.. Miss? Are you okay?" Wave my hoof in front of her eyes.

455955

>>455953
Yes.
One that only works on you.
>>455952
"THESE MUSCLES ARE ALL REAL, KID."
He picks out a small table and offers an arm wrestling match.

455956

Oh and was someone going to the Big Top?

455957

>>455951
"Ah, such sweet perfume, too."
I inhale as I rub my hands down the outside of her legs and end at her hooves.
"My dear every single part of you is exceptional! Look at your hooves: Not a single crack or crevice, polished to a mirror sheen, the color of the darkest ebony. Oh, a woman as beautiful as yourself calling herself a freak splits my heart in two."
[1d10]

Roll #1 9 = 9

455958

455959

>>455955

And she's free.
>>455957
She trembles a little but does not break composure.
"I think you're the only one here who's getting excited."
>>455925
Via the animals or the food court?

455962

>>455955
Sit down.
Not gonna refuse that.
"Oh I bet. And someone is trying to steal them from you."

455963

>>455961
Through the animal pens, since we were already in the freakshow area.

455964

455965

>>455960
"Ooh thank you! I think I just discovered a stasis spell. Wanna go to the big top? "

455966

>>455961
I run my hands back up her body and hug her from behind, pulling her gently against me and keeping a hand resting under each of her breasts.
"No, my dear, but perhaps after we get off this stage? We can climb to the highest point in this circus and I can pay you all the compliments you deserve."
[1d10]

Roll #1 1 = 1

455967

>>455962
"BULLSHIT, SON.
NOBODY WOULD DARE TOUCH THESE PYTHONS."
>>455963
You pass White who is up on stage arm wrestling with the strongman. The animal pens are being guarded by a few handlers
"Welcome to the animal pens. Care for a ride on a chimera?"
>>455966
She kicks backwards with painful accuracy, then rolls you off the stage
"Next."
>>455964
"Oh great. A pony."

455968

>>455965
"Big Top? Well that would be nice. Perhaps they may have gone there." I nod at this.
"We could also grab some food along the way."

455969

>>455967
Put my right arm down on the table.
"You think?"
Open it.
"Waiting for you, big guy."

455970

>>455967
"…a real life chimera?"
I look around, do I see one? '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

455971

>>455967

Roll #1 3 = 3

455972

>>455967
"No. I am afraid I am busy."
Keep on walking.

455973

>>455967
I lie on the ground for a few seconds then leap back to my hooves.
"I nearly had you, miss. Very nearly."
After that I limp over to a seat and watch Yyveria take her shot.

455974

>>455968
"They did! Food? Uhh… Considering where we are, let's be careful. "

Go on to the big top

455975

>>455971
She just looks at you, but says nothing.
>>455969
He grabs yours with his massive hand
'1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

455979

>>455975
Get up.
"Oh my. I've never seen one before…in fact, I thought these were too dangerous to be properly tamed."

455980

>>455976
You're off to a strong start.
Best to a lead of three wins.
1-0
'1d10'
"SO WHAT'S THIS ABOUT SOMEONE TRYING TO STEAL MY BRAWN?"
>>455978
She's dead cold
"You kiss like a horse."
>>455979
"Tamed? HA! That's a laugh.
Hey, hey Threeheads, you feelin' tame today?"
The chimera almost bites her hand off
"Tamer than usual."
>>455977
All kinds of things. Chimeras, manticores, a juvenile hydra, a cyclops…

Roll #1 3 = 3

455981

>>455980
"Then why are you offering rides on these beasts?"

455982

>>455980
I was ignoring these things and pressing onwards.

455983

>>455980
Oooh.

If we're at the top, look at what Coltstein is doing.

455984

>>455980
"Witches! There to sap the life out of you. Make you rot!"
This is like monk kindergarten all over again!
'1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

455985

Roll #1 3 = 3

455986

Meanwhile at the cart, Somnambula is making more tea.

>>455984
"WITCHES AND SORES. JUST WANT I NEEDED."
2-0
'1d10'
>>455985
"Next!"
A chubby human in a brimmed hat climbs the stage as you leave.

Roll #1 5 = 5

455987

>>455980
Now that we are at the Big Top, I open the posters and kind of look around. Do I see any of those that we are hunting?
'1d10'

>>455983
Look at what she is looking at. Do I see the good doctor?

I tap you on the shoulder and motion towards the human that just got on the stage.
"This is a ruse of some sort. I can feel it."

455992

>>455986
I frown.
"Simply irresponsible."
I look at the security.
I'm sure the chimeras are locked thight, extra secured? '1d10+2'
