Northlands Season 2 - Episode X1 DM 411756[Last 50 Posts]

This is a side track to the story of a king who lost much, but gained more.

A strange duo has arrived to Snowborder.
They hail from the east, and are new to these cold lands.
Having crossed the border from Equestria, they stand in the city of Eastvigil, one of the massive and wealthy border guard cities of Snowborder. Lots of ponies going around, from trade caravans to merchants to tourists and guards…

Donrick [Smith] 411757

>>411756
Make sure everything I brought along I still have.
A good smith never leaves home without his tools, after all.

Liviana [Templar] 411758

>>411756
Not like we are anything more but simple tourists!

>>411757
"Are you ready, Donrick? Remember, don't draw any attention to ourselves."

Donrick [Smith] 411759

>>411758
I let out a slightly bitter chuckle.
"You know that always has been one of my weaknesses."

DM 411760

>>411757
"everything-seems-to-be-here-creator."
>>411758
Well, this place is so busy not like anyone would pay attention to you anyway.

Donrick [Smith] 411761

>>411760
Nod.
"Stay close. Wouldn't want to lose you."
Smile.
"This goes to both of you."

Liviana [Templar] 411762

>>411759
I smile and turn my head to look at him
"Let's just hope we can travel alongside a trade caravan. One crazy enough to go to a warzone."

>>411760
Is there some kind of caravan pit stop around?

Donrick [Smith] 411763

>>411762
"Anything worse than the Oddomanes? Hardly."

DM 411764

>>411762
There is. A few wagons are parked there, and a restaurant, inn and a few other facilities are available nearby

Liviana [Templar] 411765

>>411763
"Well, I still don't expect this to be easy."

>>411764
Let's go to the inn and see if we can talk some merchant into hiring some extra protection.

Donrick [Smith] 411766

>>411765
Follow her.
"Not afraid from getting your dress dirty, are you?"

DM 411767

>>411765
There are '1d100' patrons in here

Roll #1 4 = 4

DM 411768

>>411767
Must be a really empty day.
Only one caravan group is sitting around, looking over a map and arguing.

Liviana [Templar] 411769

>>411766
I chuckle
"You know how wary I am of such fashion disasters."

>>411767
"Well now… this is unexpected."

Donrick [Smith] 411770

>>411768
>>411769
"I thought these lands were rich and lively?"

Liviana [Templar] 411771

>>411770
"So we were told…"

>>411768
Approach that group then, bowing my head slightly
"Greetings, esteemed merchants."

Donrick [Smith] 411772

>>411771
Nod and follow behind her, but let her do the talking.

DM 411773

>>411771
"Huh? Who are you?
I thought everyone left already."

Liviana [Templar] 411774

>>411773
I look around
"Seems that way. However, we just arrived rather than left. How come there are so few of you here?"

DM 411775

>>411774
"We had a major caravan here that just left not an hour ago. They had reserved all the rooms and everything. We're the last ones here."

Donrick [Smith] 411776

>>411775
To Liviana.
"Think we might be able to catch up to them?"

Liviana [Templar] 411777

>>411775
"Oh. That's a shame."
I nod at Donrick
"My friend and I are looking for a caravan headed for Timberjaw."

>>411776
"Of course we can."

DM 411778

>>411777
"Timberjaw? Lady you got no reason good enough to go there. Haven't you heard? They're at war now!"

Donrick [Smith] 411779

>>411777
"We shouldn't dally long then."

Liviana [Templar] 411780

>>411778
I nod
"Yes, we heard. That's why we want to go there."

>>411779
"Relax, we can easily catch up on a large caravan like that."

DM 411781

>>411780
"Are you wrong in the head or something, lady?"

Donrick [Smith] 411782

>>411780
"I am relaxed, don't worry."

Donrick [Smith] 411783

>>411781
Narrow my eyes a bit at that comment.

DM 411784

>>411783
"What are you looking at, ugly?"

Donrick [Smith] 411785

>>411784
"I thought it was a mirror. Then I realized I don't look like a halfwit."

Liviana [Templar] 411786

>>411781
I laugh
"Maybe I am. There are no caravans headed there at all then, I assume?"

>>411782
"Good-"

>>411784
I frown under my helmet.
"You had best not repeat that if you want to keep your head on your shoulders."

DM 411787

>>411785
"Why you little-"
>>411786
One of the others speaks up
"Calm down.
No caravans are going anywhere near Timberjaw. It's just asking for trouble. Closest anyone is going is the Ironfoe province. We're not planning to go there though. Not unless something makes the trip worth our while."

Liviana [Templar] 411788

>>411787
I relax my stance a little
"Ironfoe… I heard of that kingdom. How are the roads? Safe?"

Donrick [Smith] 411789

>>411787
I take a deep breath, but let
>>411788
Do the negotiations again.

DM 411790

>>411788
"Everything inside Snowborder is safe so long as you have a guide.
We were about to head off too, but realized our main salespony was still drunk in bed. Can't leave without him really, we thought we'd wait."

Donrick [Smith] 411791

>>411790
"Have you tried using a bucket of water?"

Liviana [Templar] 411792

>>411790
"Where can these guides be hired?"

DM 411793

>>411791
"Have you ever tried selling goods someone threw up on?"
>>411792
"Several places. Easy to find, they all have the Guide Guild sign on them. Looks like a compass with a sword for the pointer."

Donrick [Smith] 411794

>>411793
Shake my head.
"Do you know any of the better ones?"

Liviana [Templar] 411795

>>411793
I bow my head again
"Thank you. And be sure to keep your tongue in check next time."
Turn and leave this place with Donrick, then find one of those signs.

DM 411796

>>411794
"Better sellers? He's our friend. I guess you've never had any by the looks of you so we'll forgive you for not knowing how to treat one."
>>411795
"Hrm. What a weird lady…."
After a little walking, you happen upon a rather lavish building sporting the guild sign over the door

Donrick [Smith] 411797

>>411796
After we left.
"Ponies here are friendly as ever."

Liviana [Templar] 411798

>>411797
"Do you think the cold is what makes them so rude? Or the lack of sunlight?"

>>411796
Excellent! Go inside.

Donrick [Smith] 411799

>>411798
"Possibly. Or the lack of brains."

DM 411800

>>411798
The insides are even more decorated than the outside. Luxurious couches line the main hall, and a desk with a well groomed receptionist sits in the middle.
The walls are adorned with maps, charts and trophies.

Liviana [Templar] 411801

>>411799
I snort
"Talk about brain freeze."

>>411800
I look around for a moment, then take of my helmet, toss my mane and walk up to the desk.
"Good day."

Donrick [Smith] 411802

>>411801
I follow and look at her as she takes off her helmet.

DM 411803

>>411801
"Good day fine miss. Looking to hire a guide?"

Liviana [Templar] 411804

>>411803
"Yes. We are set on visiting Timberjaw. And yes, we are aware of the war situation."

DM 411805

>>411804
"That's a dangerous trip. How many ponies are in your party?"

Donrick [Smith] 411806

>>411805
"Not very many."

Liviana [Templar] 411807

>>411805
"Myself and my two companions here."
I motion at Donrick

DM 411808

>>411807
"Three then.
And will you be transporting any cargo? If so, how much in volume and value?"

Liviana [Templar] 411809

>>411808
"Just what we are carrying here. Nothing more."

DM 411810

>>411809
"And what of it's value?"

Donrick [Smith] 411811

>>411810
Glance at Liviana, but say nothing.

Liviana [Templar] 411812

>>411810
Give him a full inventory then, if that's what he wants.

DM 411814

>>411812
He checks everything then nods
"Two thousand per person, due to the dangerous destination. No additional charge for cargo."

Liviana [Templar] 411821

>>411814
"That's a steep price."

DM 411823

>>411821
"if you prefer to go alone, it's your loss. The roads can be perilous. We know the fastest paths, and the safest ways. Our mere reputation keeps bandits away."

Donrick [Smith] 411826

>>411823
"Any guarantees?"

DM 411830

>>411826
"You're guaranteed to not make it without us."

Liviana [Templar] 411833

>>411823
>>411830
"What of Ironfoe, would that be cheaper?"

DM 411836

>>411833
"Certainly. Just a thousand each. Half price!"

Liviana [Templar] 411841

>>411836
"Half price. Of course."
I snort and put on my helmet
"We'll take it."

DM 411845

>>411841
"Good, good.
Will you be needing transportation, or is walking fine?"

Liviana [Templar] 411848

>>411845
"We can walk just fine."

DM 411849

>>411848
"Mhm, good.
And when would you like to depart?"

Liviana [Templar] 411854

>>411849
"As soon as possible, please."

DM 411857

>>411854
"Then I'll get a team ready for you. Meet us out back at any time and we can go."

Donrick [Smith] 411859

>>411857
"That was quick."

DM 411861

>>411859
"We pride ourselves in being ready for anything."
The receptionist leaves to a back room

Liviana [Templar] 411864

>>411857
I nod and turn away from him.

>>411859
For convenience sake, let's say greentext stands for greekspeak
"I told you this place was corrupt to the core."

Donrick [Smith] 411872

>>411864
"I never doubted you."

DM 411873

An envelope softly falls from somewhere, landing near you

411875

>>411872
"You'll like Ironfoe much more, I'm sure."

>>411873
I cock a brow and pick it up with my teeth, looking at Donrick questioningly. Something on the ceiling?

Roll #1 5 = 5

DM 411877

>>411875
The ceiling has a lovely mural painted on it, but there isn't even a second floor where it could have fallen from.

Liviana [Templar] 411878

>>411877
… odd.
"Now where did you come from…"
Open it up and see what's inside.

Donrick [Smith] 411880

>>411875
>>411877
>>411878
"Be careful with that."

DM 411884

>>411878
It's a letter

[We know who you are, and where you are from.
We do not seek to bring harm, merely to ensure our interest are not harmed.
We request you postpone your trip, and come to Border Prince City instead.
Somepony will be waiting for you at the administration house of Eastvigil to guide you.
Dismiss this invitation, and you will make a most poor impression.]

Donrick [Smith] 411886

>>411884
"What is it?"

Liviana [Templar] 411887

>>411884
I raise a brow
"Damn."
Hoof the letter to Donrick to read.

Donrick [Smith] 411890

>>411887
I quickly read it as well, then scrunch.

"I do not like this one bit."

DM 411893

>>411887
>>411890
The Guide returns
"We are ready to go at any time. If we leave now we can make it with only one stop."

Liviana [Templar] 411895

>>411890
I shake my head
"Me neither. The Bureau of Barbarians failed us. Still, I've never been one for poor impressions."

>>411893
"One moment, please."

DM 411897

>>411895
"Any time you're ready."

Donrick [Smith] 411899

>>411895
"Might as well then. Not like we have a real choice, do we?
Just play it safe. I couldn't stand if you got hurt."

Liviana [Templar] 411912

>>411899
I nod.
"You know me, safety first."

>>411897
"We've changed our plans. We will stay in the city for the time being."

DM 411916

>>411912
"Oh?
How unfortunate.
I will need to charge you a one hundred bit fee for cancelling a planned trip on such short warning. We were already geared up."

Donrick [Smith] 411920

>>411916
>>411912
Roll my eyes.
"What if they came with us?"

Liviana [Templar] 411925

>>411920
"Now that's an idea."

>>411916
"It would be a shame to waste that effort then. Come with us, we will pay you the arranged price. Do you know where the administration house is?"

Donrick [Smith] 411954

>>411925
"Some adventure already, isn't it?"

Liviana [Templar] 411962

>>411954
I smile under my helmet
"Yes… this should be very interesting. Plenty of things to explore up here. I'm curious to meet the Emperor as well."

Donrick [Smith] 411973

>>411962
"I'm glad your enthusiastic at least at the change of scenery.
All I need is a forge and knowing you are safe and sound, nothing more."

DM 411976

>>411925
"Very well.
The administration house is in the city center. You can pick your team up in the back lot.
Good day."

Liviana [Templar] 411979

>>411973
"You are too kind to a mare like me, Donrick."

>>411976
Well then, let's go pick up our team.

Donrick [Smith] 411984

>>411979
Follow her.
"Don't be silly, Livy."

DM 411991

>>411979
A team of four fully equipped ponies waits. Two mares, two stallions. Two pegasi, two earth.
"Ma'am."
"Ironfoe it is then?"

Liviana [Templar] 411994

>>411991
"Eventually, hopefully. We need to go to the administration house first."

DM 412008

>>411994
"Huh?
Alright then. City center.
MOVE OUT!"
The four take positions around you three and begin walking.
You soon reach the city center, a busy place with tons of ponies, and your guides shoving them aside to give you space.
"Here we are ma'am - Eastvigil Administrative. Need us inside, or?"

Donrick [Smith] 412010

>>412008
Look around for the pony who is supposedly waiting for us.

Liviana [Templar] 412011

>>412008
"No, you can wait outside. And please… stop shoving ponies aside like that."
Let's go inside and see if we can find this… contact.

DM 412013

>>412010
>>412011
As you enter, someone by the shadows near the door speaks
"Trotantines?"

Donrick [Smith] 412017

Liviana [Templar] 412018

>>412013
I look this individual over.
"You are correct. Now, I've had admirers sent me letters before, and I don't think that that was your intention. Who are you?"

DM 412024

>>412018
She is clad in a fine cloak and a featureless mask
"The Three heard of your coming.
They wish to learn more of you and your intentions in their lands."

Liviana [Templar] 412026

>>412024
"The Three?"

Donrick [Smith] 412027

>>412024
"Is this how they invite all their guests?"

DM 412028

>>412026
She mumbles something under her breath, then answers.
"Yes."
>>412027
"No. Only ones of notable potential importance"

412029

>>412028
Can I catch that?
"Well, I'm charmed then. If they wanted an audience, they could have just asked the easy way."

Roll #1 9 = 9

Donrick [Smith] 412030

>>412028
Snort.
"Flattering."

DM 412035

>>412029
"Don't they even know of the three? Uncultured swine…"
"Certain measures of caution need to be taken. Surely one of your kind would understand."
>>412030
She just silently nods

Liviana [Templar] 412037

>>412035
I smile at that under my helmet.
"Right. Well, lead the way then. I hope you don't mind that we brought some friends along the way."

Donrick [Smith] 412039

>>412037
"Smells fishy."

DM 412043

>>412037
"That should be fine. Let us make haste. The trip is not short."

Fast travel or RP the walk?

Liviana [Templar] 412044

>>412039
"It does. But I can play their political games if that's what they want."

Donrick [Smith] 412047

>>412044
"Let's watch our backs, just in case. At least we knew the throatcutters back home."

DM 412050

>>412047
>>412044
"Shall we get going then?"

Donrick [Smith] 412052

>>412050
I let out a laugh.
"They seem to know their game."

Liviana [Templar] 412053

>>412050
I laugh
"Yes, lead the way."

>>412047
"Mmmm…"

>>412052
"Unsurprising."

DM 412061

>>412052
"You aren't the first to try that."
>>412053
"Good."

Your new friend takes you and your guides to a wagon station and flags down a ride. Pulled by a group of eight ponies, it makes good time to the capital - Border Prince.
The trip goes by in silence, and once you get there you can't help but notice the ponies pulling the cart were never paid for the service.

"Welcome to the palace. Now, we advise you to leave any weapons behind in the lobby."

Donrick [Smith] 412063

>>412061
"Surely you do not think we are assassins."

Liviana [Templar] 412066

>>412061
"Is that necessary? We are both very attached to them."

DM 412067

>>412063
"No, we think you may be reckless."
>>412066
"We will have them polished and sharpened for you as you wait."

Donrick [Smith] 412072

>>412067
I let out a huff.
"I hardly think you could improve it more."
Sigh, and look at Liviana.

Liviana [Templar] 412075

>>412067
"I'd rather you not touch them at all, with all due respect."

>>412072
I shrug and take out both my dagger and longsword, then put them on the floor.

Donrick [Smith] 412077

>>412075
I nod, then loosen the straps of my Claymore and hand it over.
"I would prefer if it didn't left it's sheathe at all.
And I don't suppose my smithing tools are the cause of any worry?"

DM 412078

>>412075
>>412072
"Very well, just safe storage then."
She nods to an attendant, who places them on a silk pillow
>>412077
"Just keep them to yourself, and no funny business."

She then nods for the guides to stay behind and gives a note to the palace guards, who open a door leading upstairs

Donrick [Smith] 412079

>>412078
"Wouldn't dare to."

Liviana [Templar] 412080

>>412078
"Thank you. Nice cloak, by the way."
I smirk and take off my helmet, then head upstairs.

DM 412089

>>412080
>>412079
After several checkpoints and ten flights of stairs, you arrive into what seems like a room the size of an entire floor.
In the center, three thrones atop a small staircase face away from.
The sides of the room are swallowed by shadows.
A dozen guards stand at attention, and a few servants bow as you enter, offering drinks

Your masked friend steps between you and the thrones
"Now then.
Tell us your names."

Liviana [Templar] 412095

>>412089
"Sister Liviana of the holy order of Saint Sophia."

DM 412096

>>412095
"Daughter of…?"

Donrick [Smith] 412097

>>412089
"Donrick, son of Donovan. Smith."

Liviana [Templar] 412098

>>412096
"Bastard daughter of late Empress Lavinia XIV Silvermane."

DM 412100

>>412097
"Very goo-"
>>412098
There is a shocked silence for a moment

Donrick [Smith] 412101

Liviana [Templar] 412105

>>412100
Precious.
"Any more questions?"

DM 412108

>>412105
A voice from one of the thrones
"Who is the lucky father?"

Liviana [Templar] 412110

>>412108
I smile and look down
"Her majesty never told me."
Then look back up
"I don't see how this is relevant."

DM 412117

>>412110
"Just wanted to make sure. Would be a shame to talk to my own daughter and not realize it."
The masked pony makes a few uneasy movements, then clears her throat
"Princess and smith… and…"
"I-am-Chell. Assistant-smith."
"Assistant.
What is the reason you have come to the north?"

Donrick [Smith] 412121

>>412117
"I heard the ponies here were not short of hospitality and trust."

Liviana [Templar] 412123

>>412117
A true comedian. Remember that voice.
"Trade mission on behalf of the Trotantine Empire."

DM 412124

>>412121
"What a lovely reason.
Believe me. We can have all your needs taken care of…"
>>412123
"Have you come to trade with the war-torn Timberjaw, then?"

Donrick [Smith] 412125

>>412124
"Hardly."

DM 412126

>>412125
A few of the servants move closer, offering some food, drinks and skin ointment

Liviana [Templar] 412127

>>412124
"With every Northern nation, we hope."

Donrick [Smith] 412129

>>412126
I snort amusedly.
"You misunderstand. You can't because they are already taken care of."

DM 412130

>>412127
"We trust you do not seek to tread on our established trade systems?"
>>412129
One of the servants is polishing Chell

Liviana [Templar] 412131

>>412130
"The goods we are seeking to trade are foreign to these lands, which means our two nations should not overlap. From what I understand, Snowborder, like Trotantium, has a trade-based economy. As such, more goods and caravans mean more income for us both."

Donrick [Smith] 412132

>>412130
Glance her way, then roll my eyes.

DM 412134

>>412131
"We are the one link the north has with the south. Our harbor of Shipper's Folly is the closest there is to a safe one, and even it is unfit for steady trade. All land routes go through our grounds, and we keep them safe for travelers.
All we ask for, is tribute so we can keep doing so. A little cut of the value of your cargo."

Donrick [Smith] 412135

>>412134
"Toll, is the word you are looking for.
Or customs.
Whichever you fancy."

Liviana [Templar] 412137

>>412134
"We are well aware of that. We have been around for a while longer than Snowborder has, so rest assured we know how things work. As I said, these new trade routes will benefit us both."

DM 412139

>>412135
The thrones speak again
"We make the rules around here, we write the dictionaries too if it pleases us."
The masked pony swallows a little, then nods
>>412137
"We do not doubt your seniority. Then, we never doubted the inevitable arrogance it would give birth to either.
Why are you headed to Timberjaw?"

Donrick [Smith] 412140

>>412139
"Good for you then."

Liviana [Templar] 412141

>>412139
"As painful as it may be, Timberjaw will need to rebuild once this war ends. We are willing to reach out and help them."

DM 412142

>>412141
"We believe you are aware that Timberjaw houses a long tradition of architecture, fortification and siegeworks.
Now… one last thing.
What made you reroute your trip to Ironfoe?"

Liviana [Templar] 412143

>>412142
"The steep pricing of the guides having to lead us to a war zone. We are intent on visiting all nations in the North, so whether the first one is Ironfoe or Timberjaw doesn't really matter."

DM 412151

>>412143
"Well had you come a little later you could have saved time. At this rate, there will only be two nations in the north a year from now.
Snowborder and the Northlands…"

Liviana [Templar] 412153

>>412151
"So we've heard, yes. I can only hope Emperor Frostmourn will be willing to trade with foreign nations. He's very… patriotic, according to our sources."

DM 412159

>>412153
"He is many things according to ours. Now I belie-"
One of the thrones turns around slowly, revealing a pony with an uncanny resemblance to you. He gets up and walks down the stairs before lifting your chin and taking a good look at you
"Just remember who your friends and family are, princess. You will need allies in the cold north. If you ever need us, we'll be right here."

Liviana [Templar] 412161

>>412159
I blink in surprise and take a step back
"Thank you. Now if we can go on our way again…"

Donrick [Smith] 412165

>>412159
>>412161
I raise an eyebrow but stay silent.

DM 412167

>>412161
"Stay safe, princess.
Would be terrible to lose out on good trade."
He returns to his throne
The masked pony shudders a little, then turns to you
"…shall we go?"

Donrick [Smith] 412168

Liviana [Templar] 412172

>>412167
I quickly put on my helmet.
"… Yes. Please."

DM 412173

>>412168
>>412172
She breathes a sigh of relief and guides you back down.
"…that went well…"

Donrick [Smith] 412175

>>412173
"Did it?"

Liviana [Templar] 412176

>>412173
I just quietly follow.

DM 412177

>>412175
"Well… nobody died…"
>>412176
"Are you… quite ok?"

Donrick [Smith] 412178

>>412177
"You can stop shivering now then."

DM 412179

>>412178
"I will when my pulse levels again…
Ahem.
Sorry."

Liviana [Templar] 412180

>>412177
"What do you care about a uncultured swine?"
I shake my head
"Are we allowed to travel freely to Ironfoe now then?"

DM 412181

>>412180
"You are.
We will inspect and tax your goods as they arrive."

Donrick [Smith] 412184

>>412180
Raise a brow at that.
"Liviana?"

>>412179
>>412181
"Let me guess, you want to tag along too."

Liviana [Templar] 412187

>>412181
"Good. Thank you."

>>412184
"Yes?"

Donrick [Smith] 412188

>>412187
"Are you allright?"

DM 412190

>>412184
"No.
My place is here, serving those who most benefit of me.
I have masters to answer to, Lords to serve. I am no traveler."

Donrick [Smith] 412193

>>412190
"Good."

Liviana [Templar] 412195

>>412188
"Of course I am."

>>412190
"That's a shame then."

DM 412197

>>412195
"Even if I wished to, I could not. I hope you understand."

Downstairs, another masked pony awaits. Your companion takes a step back as she sees him.

Liviana [Templar] 412203

>>412197
I look him over
"Yes?"

DM 412207

>>412203
"Official business."
He makes a stern nod to the side, and your masked companion hesitantly goes with him
"Gemtooth… s-sir…"
"No need. Let's go."

Liviana [Templar] 412211

>>412207
Wait so, we should follow them? Do so.

Donrick [Smith] 412212

>>412207
"Our weapons?"

DM 412216

>>412211
The one addressed as Gemtooth turns around
"Where do you think you're going?"
>>412212
The servants bring them, laying them down near the door, all neatly on pillows, the scabbards cleaned of dust.

Donrick [Smith] 412218

>>412216
Pick it up and restrap it to my armor.

Liviana [Templar] 412221

>>412216
"To Ironfoe."
I turn around and pick up my weapons, strapping them back to my gear.

>>412218
"Let's go, I've had enough of this place to last me a lifetime."

DM 412225

>>412218
>>412221
The guards step between you and the palace interior once you reclaim your weapons.
Gemtooth drags your masked aide aside, saying something to her.

Your guides await outside.

Donrick [Smith] 412231

>>412221
"Not just you."

>>412225
Out we go.

Liviana [Templar] 412234

>>412225
"We are ready to leave for Ironfoe now."

DM 412236

>>412231
"Had a pleasant visit?"
>>412234
"Very good. It should be about a day of trekking unless we grab a ride."

Donrick [Smith] 412238

>>412236
"It was pleasant in a way a coal that won't ignite is useful."

Liviana [Templar] 412239

>>412236
"Some fresh air will do me good. Daylight's wasting."

DM 412242

>>412238
"Even coal that won't burn can still be drawn with."
>>412239
"Very well. Off we go."

Almost 1am for me. We could pause here?

Liviana [Templar] 412244

>>412242
Of course, sorry for keeping you up like that

DM 412247

NEXT TIME ON NORTHLANDS X - THE ARRIVAL

PRINCESS LIVIANA AND SMITH DONRICK GET TO SEE THE MAGNIFICENT TRADE ROADS OF SNOWBORDER

A CHANCE TO DISCOVER THE DEEP ROADS

AND CROSSING THE BORDER INTO THE UNITED NORTHLANDS

DM 412556

The trip begin!

Donrick [Smith] 412557

>>412556
That was quite something so far.

Liviana [Templar] 412558

>>412556
Nice Engrish, faggot.
Follow our faithful and expensive guides, making sure to take in our surroundings as we walk.

DM 412559

>>412557
>>412558
Soon you depart Border Prince and head out into the tundra beyond it. In the horizon, great mountains rise.
"We hope you packed some warm clothes. Where we are going, things will be far colder."

Donrick [Smith] 412560

>>412559
"So we've been told."

Liviana [Templar] 412561

>>412559
"We were warned as much. Don't worry, we brought extra warm clothing and padding."

DM 412562

>>412560
>>412561
"Good, good."
"If you look to the left, you can see a few tundra wolves. They are no threat to us, and are often hunted for sport. Lovely pelts. Soft and warm."

Donrick [Smith] 412563

>>412562
"Common too, I can guess."

DM 412564

>>412563
"Yes, around these parts. A rare sight in Westwatch though."

Liviana [Templar] 412565

>>412562
"I'm surprised they haven't been hunted to extinction, considering how cold it is up here."

Donrick [Smith] 412566

>>412564
"I'm not a tanner, but what other animals do you hunt for their pelts up here?"

DM 412567

>>412565
"There is no need. We get plenty of other materials to keep us warm as import."
>>412566
"Bears are popular prey for the wilder hunters. Maned Seals can be found on the coast, and Mountain Alpacas further into the peaks."

Liviana [Templar] 412568

>>412567
"Let's hope we wont run into any bears. I'm not feeling wild today."

DM 412569

>>412568
"We can handle wild animal attacks. We are trained to do so."
"Animals, bandits, anything up here."

You are nearing the mountain foothills

Donrick [Smith] 412570

>>412569
"Let's hope you are worth the money then."

Liviana [Templar] 412571

>>412569
"I'm glad to hear so."

>>412570
"They can't even keep their biggest roads under control, how pitiful."

DM 412572

>>412570
>>412571
"Oh believe me. Without us, you would not make it anywhere."
"We can follow the caravan roads, or take a shortcut that needs a little more climbing."

Donrick [Smith] 412573

>>412572
"Do we look like we are goats?"

>>412571
"This place failed to impress me so far."

DM 412574

>>412573
"Caravan road it is then."
"If we keep up this pace we might even catch up to a wagon."

Liviana [Templar] 412575

>>412572
"Let's stick to the roads. We're not in that big of a hurry."

>>412573
"Well, these are the same ponies who followed Puddinghead around…"

DM 412576

After some more walking, you hear a slight noise in the cliffs above

412577

>>412576
Look up.

Roll #1 10 = 10

Donrick [Smith] 412578

>>412575
"No big wonder then."

>>412576
"What was that?"

DM 412579

>>412577
Mountain bandits.
Well dressed, well armed.
Aiming down crossbows.

412580

>>412579
How many of them?
"BANDITS!"
Unsheathe my sword and search for cover!

Roll #1 10 = 10

DM 412581

>>412580
A dozen, give or take a few.
Your guides look unfazed, as they pull their own weapons.
The earth duo take up positions guarding you, the pegasi leap into flight and land before the bandits up in the cliffs. Just seeing them makes the bandits take several steps back.

Donrick [Smith] 412582

>>412580
Snarl and unsheate my weapon.
"Chell! Keep Liviana safe!"

DM 412583

>>412582
Yes-creator-engaging-defenses.
She slams her hoof down and unfolds her weapons

Liviana [Templar] 412584

>>412581
"What the…?"

Donrick [Smith] 412585

>>412581
>>412584
"Do we attack or…?"

DM 412586

>>412584
>>412585
"As we said. With us, you are safe."
Indeed it seems the two up on the cliffs are doing a fine job scaring the bandits off

Liviana [Templar] 412587

>>412585
"They're way too high up!"

>>412586
"But-"
I frown under my helmet
"Hold on a second, just what is going on here!?"

Donrick [Smith] 412588

>>412587
>>412586
I snort and put my weapons away.
"I can guess."

DM 412589

>>412587
"With us, you are safe.
That is what you paid for. Security."

Liviana [Templar] 412590

>>412589
>>412588
"I…"
I glower under my helmet, staying quiet for a moment before sheathing my weapons.
"Bah. I should have known."

DM 412591

>>412590
"You can, of course, go without us.
That's just less work for us."
"Come along now. A rest camp is coming up."

Liviana [Templar] 412592

>>412591
I grumble angrily and follow them.

Donrick [Smith] 412593

>>412591
Follow.

>>412592
"This craphole gets worse by the minute."

DM 412594

>>412592
>>412593
You soon reach a nice cabin in the higher valley
"There we go. We can rest the night here and finish the trip tomorrow."

Liviana [Templar] 412595

>>412593
"I sincerely hope Ironfoe will be better."

>>412594
"Understood."
Is it warm enough in here to take off my armor? I've been wearing it all day…

DM 412596

>>412595
It is.
The place is built strong and designed to house a large party of travelers.

Donrick [Smith] 412597

>>412594
Enter as well.

>>412595
"This trip wasn't very pleasant so far."

Liviana [Templar] 412598

>>412596
Then I'll take off my armor, get some water and refresh myself.

>>412597
I snort
"Not like we were here for vacation anyway. My sister wants to create new diplomatic ties with the barbarians after all."

DM 412599

>>412597
>>412598
The Guides retire to a side room to sleep

Donrick [Smith] 412600

>>412599
Good, we can speak freely now.

>>412598
"Chell, watch the doors."
I'll get out of the chainmail too if it's warm enough then.
"If that guy will be like this too… who are we going to visit again?"

Liviana [Templar] 412601

>>412599
I'll ready my own bed if it hasn't already.

>>412600
"Frostmourn is his name."

Donrick [Smith] 412602

>>412601
"He better not be a dick like these ones."

DM 412603

Call READY when you want to skip over to the last part of the walk

Liviana [Templar] 412604

>>412602
"Who knows? He might be even worse. The Bureau reported a few things about him that sounded promising though. Then, they did fail to keep our presence here a secret."

>>412603
Ready when Ricky is

Donrick [Smith] 412605

>>412604
"Oh and Livy… must you mention, you know, that? Because I think you shouldn't."

Liviana [Templar] 412606

>>412605
I huff
"They knew who I was already. I didn't want to give them the satisfaction of saying it themselves."

Donrick [Smith] 412607

>>412606
"Then don't let them have the satisfaction of getting to you and hurting you either."

Liviana [Templar] 412608

>>412607
"… And they didn't."
I crawl into bed.
"Good night, Ricky."

Donrick [Smith] 412609

>>412608
"Don't let me catch you whining later then!"
Smile and head to my bed too.
"Good night, Livy."

DM 412610

THE NEXT MORNING
You may wake up early if you want to ditch the guides, or sleep in and let them make breakfast.

Liviana [Templar] 412611

>>412610
Ditch the guides and get robbed? We payed for them, they better make it worth the money.

Donrick [Smith] 412612

>>412610
Well the robbers are obviously bribed from the money we paid to hire the guards, so better keep them.

DM 412613

>>412612
>>412611
Breakfast in bed it is.
Nicely cooked, from fine ingredients. Fresh and delicious, served with a smile.

Donrick [Smith] 412614

>>412613
Huh.
I guess I'll eat it then.

Liviana [Templar] 412615

>>412613
Bah, enjoy our meal, I suppose. Then get geared up and ready to move on.

DM 412616

>>412615
>>412614
"We hope you enjoyed the food?"

Liviana [Templar] 412617

>>412616
"It was nice, thank you."

Donrick [Smith] 412618

>>412616
"It was okay."

DM 412619

>>412617
>>412618
"Always glad to serve"
"We can reach the border of Ironfoe by sundown"

Donrick [Smith] 412620

>>412619
"Let's not waste more time then."

Liviana [Templar] 412621

>>412619
"Good, we look forward to it. What more can you tell us about it?"

DM 412622

>>412620
>>412621
"For centuries Ironfoe was a kingdom of it's own, but not too long ago it, along with Wintersgrasp, became the foundation of the United Northlands."
"Word of mouth is, Emperor Frostmourn is actually Viceroy Deep Rock's bastard."

Donrick [Smith] 412623

>>412622
"Oh really?"

Liviana [Templar] 412624

>>412622
"Is that so?"

DM 412625

>>412623
>>412624
"So they say."
"Of course it is only gossip and rumors."
"ironfoe has a long tradition of metalworking, and produces the highest quality steel in all of the north."

Donrick [Smith] 412626

>>412625
I smile.
"Now that's something I'd like to see."

Liviana [Templar] 412627

>>412625
"I look forward to see how they compare to Draken then."

DM 412628

>>412626
>>412627
"If you wish, there are two ponies of particular note.
Master Smith Narpa
And Golemcrafter Golden Oats."

Donrick [Smith] 412629

>>412628
"Golemcrafter, hm?
And Master Smith.
I'll admit, this at least sounds promising."

Liviana [Templar] 412630

>>412629
"It does sound like your kind of place."
I chuckle
"I think I've heard of Narpa. They say he may be one of the best smiths of our time."

Donrick [Smith] 412631

>>412630
"You wound me."

DM 412632

>>412630
"So they say. He was chosen to forge the emperor's own weapon as well."

Liviana [Templar] 412633

>>412631
I laugh
"They say a lot of things, of course. Doesn't make them necessarily true."

Donrick [Smith] 412634

>>412633
Smile.
"We shall see."

>>412632
"Court Smiths tend to do that."

DM 412635

>>412634
"No.
This was different.
It is a very special weapon, formed of the remains of the signature weapons of the kings of Ironfoe and Wintersgrasp. Until Emperor Frostmourn, the two had always been at war, or at best a weary ceasefire."

Liviana [Templar] 412636

>>412634
"Yes they do…"
I smile and look back at my sword

>>412635
"How come? Land disputes?"

DM 412637

>>412636
"That, and ancient matters of pride and honor."
"The last kings of both, Deep Rock and Goldenblood, did have one thing in common though…"

Liviana [Templar] 412638

>>412637
"That being?"

Donrick [Smith] 412639

>>412637
"Slain by Frostmourn?"

DM 412640

>>412638
"Their wife."
>>412639
"Heavens no.
Deep Rock still acts as a viceroy.
Goldenblood passed away years ago from illness."

Donrick [Smith] 412641

>>412640
I nod.
"Quite interesting."

DM 412645

"We are almost to the border of Ironfoe by now. We simply need to head a little more due east. Right north of here is the border of Rockeye."

Liviana [Templar] 412646

>>412645
"Glad to hear that."
How cold is it right now? How is the weather?

Donrick [Smith] 412647

>>412645
"Any cities we are headed to?"

DM 412648

>>412646
It's a sunny day, for the most part.
That just makes it colder. You are also a lot higher up than before, as the roads incline upwards.
>>412647
"We can get you to the capital of Ironfoe, where the seat of Viceroy Deep Rock lies."

Donrick [Smith] 412649

>>412648
"Does the capital have a name too?"

Liviana [Templar] 412650

>>412648
I can take it, we prepared for this.
"That sounds good."

DM 412651

>>412649
"It's called Ironfoe.
It was founded by king Ironfoe."
>>412650
You dressed warmly at the cabin. All fluffy and cozy.
"We can also just lead you tot he border keep if you prefer."

Donrick [Smith] 412652

>>412651
"The capital will do."

Liviana [Templar] 412653

>>412651
"Do we have to pay extra to you to guide us to Ironfoe itself? Or are the bandits there just as agreeable as they are here?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412654

>>412651
And here I am, with Peaches and two more blades.
Do we have a proper observation point set up yet?
Are these travellers anywhere in sight?

DM 412655

>>412653
"Ironfoe bandits are Ironfoe's issue. We exist to protect those who visit Snowborder."
>>412654
They must still be due west. Nothing near the border keep, yet.
>>412652
"Mhm. We should be reaching the border in about fifteen minutes."

Liviana [Templar] 412656

>>412655
"Let's press on then."

Donrick [Smith] 412657

>>412655
"Bribe the bandits of Snowborder you mean.
It's the least you can do from the amount we paid."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412658

>>412655
Okay, how far are we from said keep?
How large is it? How many guards stationed there?

DM 412659

>>412658
You met up there.
It's not a huge place, but equipped to kill anything trying to force through the mountain pass that acts as a trade route. It has a few dozen guards and a small staff of chefs, maids, translators, money counters and officials. Some of whom are old familiar faces you got out of the gutters. Guess mining wasn't for everyone…
>>412657
"Bribe?
That makes it sound so… illegal."
>>412656
"Very well. If you look to your right, you will see a peacock falcon. Beautiful bird. Lovely plumage."

Donrick [Smith] 412660

>>412659
"Heavens forbid you gave that impression, right?"

Liviana [Templar] 412661

>>412659
"A peacock falcon… Now that's a strange sight."

DM 412662

>>412660
"There are more accurate, not to mention positive, ways to put it."
>>412661
"They are on the rare side. Some like them as pets. They are very intelligent birds, and good at keeping away pests."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412663

>>412659
I should just keep a low profile. Let's avoid talking with anyone, and tell the two blades and Peaches to wait.
Go into stealth, reach the outpost's commander's office by the windows and look inside to see how many ponies are there. I'd rather talk with him alone.

DM 412664

>>412663
He is alone, enjoying a little lunch

Donrick [Smith] 412665

>>412662
"You can say however you want, that won't change the act."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412666

>>412664
Wink inside.
"Commander. I bring news from the High King."

Liviana [Templar] 412667

>>412660
>>412665
"Forget these charlatans, it just can't be helped."

Donrick [Smith] 412668

>>412667
"And what if they cause trouble once the actual trading starts?"

DM 412669

>>412665
"Well if you must insist, at least say 'employ'. They do pay taxes."
>>412666
"Hm? Wha- oh. It's one of… you masked types.
What news?"

Donrick [Smith] 412670

>>412669
I just snort, but say nothing.

Liviana [Templar] 412671

>>412668
"We are here for economical reconnaissance, not to iron out actual routes. The details, taxes, prices and so on are for the empress to determine."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412672

>>412669
What a secret secret organization we have!
"Travellers from Snowboarders are approaching. Let's say they are… Unusual, at best.
You must let them through."

Donrick [Smith] 412673

>>412671
"At least she will get annoyed by these people too, not just us."
Let out a short laugh.

DM 412674

>>412672
He is the captain of a border guard keep. He has probably met Deep Rock's spies before they were even Northblades.
"Yes, we have been informed that a few who were late for the caravan ride are coming today. The actual caravan passed here late last night."

Liviana [Templar] 412675

>>412673
"She'll get what she wants out of this, knowing her."

DM 412676

>>412675
>>412673
"Your language is very beautiful to listen to. It sounds so melodic."

Donrick [Smith] 412677

>>412675
"Those who invited us seemed nasty about their business though. They won't make it easy for her."

>>412676
"Glad you like it."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412678

>>412674
Nod.
"Thank you.
Now, might I see the route their caravan took?"

Liviana [Templar] 412679

>>412676
"I'm glad to hear you think so. Your language is certainly just as nice though."

>>412677
"Just the way she likes it."
I laugh

Donrick [Smith] 412680

>>412679
Shrug.
"As long as we don't have to deal with them again."

Liviana [Templar] 412682

>>412681
>>412680
"I'll be sure to mention that in our reports."

DM 412683

>>412678
"It left Eastvigil early yesterday. Took the usual route along the south border of the United North taken the eastern branch and crossing this checkpoint near midnight. They settled to rest in the usual caravan stop north of here, left this morning for the most part.
I believe a few of them went to Rockeye as well."
>>412680
>>412679
"The keep is just around those hills."

Liviana [Templar] 412684

>>412683
"Good, let's keep at it then."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412685

>>412683
"Do you have any information on the path these… Late arrivals will take?"

Donrick [Smith] 412686

>>412683
>>412682
Nod at both.

DM 412687

>>412685
"They should be arriving via the same route."
Peaches is sitting outside the window

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412688

>>412687
"No info on their destination?"
Motion with my head for her to come inside.

DM 412689

>>412688
"Seeing as they are coming here, I guess they just missed a ride to Ironfoe is all."
Peaches enters
"They are here."

412690

>>412689
"I see. Thank you for your time, commander."
Stand up, rejoin Peaches and vanish off, hiding somewhere where I can have sight of the whole place.
"Time to choose. We trail them or join them under false pretenses?"

Roll #1 10 + 1 = 11

DM 412691

>>412690
"Or confront them."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412692

>>412691
"Hey we are the king's assassins, what you doing in our lands all dressed up like strangeponies?"
Roll my eyes.

DM 412693

>>412692
"Well if you prefer such a friendly wording, mr. I Am Your Worst Nightmare.
There they are, right now.
"
She points down
>>412684
>>412686
"And here we are. The border keep checkpoint."
Yep.
It's a keep. Acting as a checkpoint. On the border.
Ironfoe doesn't seem too fond of clever names.
A few guards are waiting at the gates

Donrick [Smith] 412694

>>412693
"This is were we part with your company then?"

DM 412695

>>412694
"Yes, unless you need us to come further."

Donrick [Smith] 412696

>>412695
"You don't have robbers waiting in Ironfoe too, do you?"

Liviana [Templar] 412697

>>412693
>>412695
"I think we will survive without you now that Snowborder lies behind us.."

DM 412698

>>412696
>>412697
"Then we bid you a fine day. It was pleasant working for you, and we wish you visit our fair nation again in the future."
They give a smile, a nod, and leave.

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412699

>>412693
"Fine. Time to play your game."
Flutter down, slip out of stealth and wait around, looking incospicuos.

Donrick [Smith] 412700

>>412698
"I don't know about you but I am glad they are gone."

Liviana [Templar] 412701

>>412698
"I look forward to it."
I nod back at them, then turn to Donrick
"Glad that's over."

>>412700
I chuckle as we both say the same thing at the same time.

Donrick [Smith] 412702

>>412701
I chuckle along.
"So, to the capital then?"

DM 412703

>>412699
Peaches stays nearby, looking like she usually does. A little work down and in need of a nap.
>>412701
>>412700
You should probably check in with the guards.

Liviana [Templar] 412704

>>412702
I nod.
"The capital indeed."

>>412703
Approach them
"Hail, guards of Ironfoe. We seek passage into your kingdom."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412705

>>412703
Smile a bit at her.
Too cute.
>>412704
And then I will keep observing.

DM 412706

>>412704
"Good day travelers. State your business in the United Northlands."

Donrick [Smith] 412707

>>412706
>>412704
Let her do the talking.

Liviana [Templar] 412708

>>412706
I take off my helmet and bow my head slightly
"I am Sister Liviana of Clopantinople and these are my esteemed companions. We have come to your lands on behalf of Her Majesty the Empress to open up diplomatic channels between our fair nations."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412709

>>412708
Heard enough, approach both them and the guards.
"And we are here ready to respond in kind."
Bow down.
"Pumpkin Swansong, envoy of High King Frostmourn, at your service."

DM 412710

>>412708
"The Empress?
Clopantinople?"
"Trotantium."
"Where's that?"
"Southeast of Equestria."
"Oh. Must have been quite trip, miss Liviana. If you're on a political mission, you should probably speak with-"
>>412709
"Ah, looks like we have a greeter. You can take it from here."

Donrick [Smith] 412711

>>412709
"From the High King himself, huh?"

Liviana [Templar] 412712

>>412709
I turn to him and bow my head slightly again
"We are pleased to meet you. I am happy to see your manners are already better than those of Snowborder."

>>412710
"Thank you."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412713

>>412711
"Strange guests attract the most curious eyes."
Smile calmly.
>>412712
"Had a suffered travel, I take?"

Donrick [Smith] 412714

>>412713
"The definition of strange is very broad."
Bow my head.
"Donrick, son of Donovan, Smith of the Court."

Liviana [Templar] 412715

>>412713
"On the contrary, we faced no resistance along the way… after paying a hefty sum of gold."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412716

>>412714
Return his nod.
"You might very well be the first Clopantine travelers to ever reach the United North. Good enough to warrant a special welcome.
Being a Court Smith on top of that, makes your protection a priority."
>>412715
"Oh, of course. Snowboarders.
They could drown you in gold just for the sake of it.
And I do mean literally."
Raise a hoof, showing them the local barracks/resting post/inn/whatever.
"Shall we take this discussion inside? You might want to rest after all."

Liviana [Templar] 412717

>>412716
"So we've heard."
I wipe my nose
"We've rested quite enough already, so no need to worry about that. You are an envoy for Emperor Frostmourn, when would it be possible for us to have an audience with His Majesty?"

Donrick [Smith] 412718

>>412716
"I can protect myself, and so can Liviana, but thank you. You really are better than those Snowborder ones."
Shake my head.
"We rested enough, we are good to go."

DM 412719

>>412716
>>412714
You can't really help but notice. He clearly has some sort of long-lasting disease that has rendered his skin malformed and discoloured, as well as largely hairless. Large splodges of black and dark purple, like bruises or subdermal bleeding, colour his overall appearance dark. Streaks of brown and red run through the folds and cysts, where the skin has broken as it twisted. Great areas as dry as a cadaver, shedding small flakes of skin and dead flesh. The muscles of his face fighting against the malformed skin above them to move right, making his expressions twisted and ugly. Even alien.

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412720

>>412717
"That depends. If we move immediatly, we might be able to reach Wintergrasp before his departure."
>>412719
Of course. But it's rude to stare.
The thing on the back though…
"Your friend doesn't talk much."

DM 412721

BRB cooking dinner

Liviana [Templar] 412722

>>412720
"Good."
I smile and put my helmet back on.
"I am ready to leave then."

Donrick [Smith] 412723

>>412720
Smirk.
"Chell, be nice and introduce yourself."

DM 412724

>>412720
>>412723
"Forgive-me-my-abilities-to-converse-are-limited-I-only-speak-when-it-is-needed."

Liviana [Templar] 412725

>>412724
I chuckle
"I'm sure it's fine, Chell."

412726

>>412724
"I… see."
Speaking of which.
SbS, what's under the armor?
"No need to strain yourself, mylady."

Roll #1 3 = 3

Donrick [Smith] 412727

>>412726
"She will be fine, I wouldn't worry."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412728

>>412727
>>412725
"Very well."
Smile and nod.
"We should make haste. Follow me."

TO THE DEEP ROADS!

Donrick [Smith] 412729

>>412728
Nod and follow.

DM 412730

>>412728
You lead them to one of the Deep Road entrances near the border.
A somewhat hidden and well guarded gate hacked into the mountainside.

To Ironfoe Palace?
Ironfoe Mass Teleport Array?
Right to Wintersgrasp?

Liviana [Templar] 412731

>>412728
Follow him.
"Are you from Ironfoe too then?"

Donrick [Smith] 412732

>>412730
"Where to?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412733

>>412730
They seek audience with the King. And let's not show off too many of our toys just yet.
Directly to Wintergrasp.
>>412731
"No, I am from the same land as the King. Wintergrasp, Ironfoe's closest neighbour.
Might I ask who is this other pony you are referring to?"
>>412732
"This way."

Liviana [Templar] 412734

>>412733
"Nopony, I was just curious, seeing how we are in Ironfoe. Convenient how quickly you arrived here from Wintergrasp."
I chuckle and look around
"So these must be the Deep Roads. Interesting."

Donrick [Smith] 412735

>>412733
"Yes, but where does this way lead? I do not like going anywhere blindly."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412736

>>412735
"You asked for an audience with the king, we are going exactly there, through the fastest way possible."
>>412734
"Indeed. A marvel of the now lost breed of Diamond Dogs that once inhabited the North.
We were too late to save them."

Liviana [Templar] 412737

>>412736
"That's a shame, we don't exactly have diamond dogs in Trotantium ourselves, but we've heard plenty of their digging skills."

Donrick [Smith] 412738

>>412736
"I just want to avoid further surprises if possible."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412739

>>412738
"Down here? Don't worry. It's most likely the safest place in the North."
>>412737
"There are chambers here that would make you marvel and think at just why an underground city wouldn't be possible."
Stretch my wings.
"Of course, I'd not be a great fan of it. But still, the idea boggles the mind."
Chuckle.

Liviana [Templar] 412740

>>412739
"We have some underground settlements ourselves in the northern part of the Empire, used to mine precious minerals."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412741

>>412740
"Gems. Lovely things. Without them, I would be half blind at this point."

Donrick [Smith] 412742

>>412741
"Visited Snowborder?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412743

>>412742
"No, never in my whole life actually."

Donrick [Smith] 412744

>>412743
"Not very adventrous then?"

Liviana [Templar] 412745

>>412741
"Not just gems, but things such as copper, silver and gold too. Vital to keep the strongest economy in the known world running."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412746

>>412744
"Let's say I've been held up north by other matters most of my time.
But I've had the priviledge to fly with the gryphons off the highest peaks of Stormheart. That's something you don't easily forget."
Smirk.
>>412745
"I am quite curious about your home, lady Liviana."

DM 412747

The Deep Roads live up to their name.
The are smoothly paved and wide, lined with lights and the occasional group of houses.
The tunnels branch off in several places, with each area marked with a signpost telling where it leads. Some areas have simply marked as [Under construction], [Dead End], [Dangerous Area] or [Collapsed]

Donrick [Smith] 412748

>>412746
"You should see Clopantinapole. It would give you memories lasting for a lifetime."

>>412747
"It still needs some work I see."

Liviana [Templar] 412749

>>412746
"There is much to be said about it. I am sure there is much to be said about the Old Lands as well since we departed them centuries ago."

>>412747
"This really seems very well-organized."
How many ponies are around?

DM 412750

>>412749
Dozens if not hundreds pass you, cross your path and move along the tunnels, headed where ever they are going. Work. Home. Visits. Who knows?

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412751

>>412748
Smile.
"Maybe. One day. Once the King no longer needs me.
There are just so many places I want to see…"
>>412749
"Most of the history of these lands will be written in the upcoming years, trust me."

Liviana [Templar] 412752

>>412750
Well this is downright impressive.
"Compare this to the mines of Draken, Donrick. It's a different cup of tea, isn't it?"

>>412751
"If Emperor Frostmourn continues his efforts, I do not doubt they will."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412753

>>412752
"High King.
I don't think he'd like the title of Emperor."

Donrick [Smith] 412754

>>412752
"Yes it certainly is."
Take a deep breath.
"Has a very different air to it."

>>412751
"Such as?"

Liviana [Templar] 412755

>>412753
"Oh, I'll have to keep that in mind then. I don't want to insult him."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412756

>>412754
"The zebra homeland, for one. A dear friend of mine comes from there."
>>412755
"I don't think he'd take it too bad. The High King likes to measure a pony by their actions, not their words."

Donrick [Smith] 412757

>>412756
"A zebra you say? Up here?"

Liviana [Templar] 412758

>>412756
"A zebra friend? That's… interesting."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412759

>>412757
>>412758
"Not uncommon. You see, the academy in Wintergrasp attracted all kinds of students."

Donrick [Smith] 412760

>>412759
"Must be really good at what it does then."

Liviana [Templar] 412761

>>412759
"Ah, Wintergrasp Royal Academy, I've heard of it. A successful initiative by late King Goldeblood to improve diplomatic relations between the Northern nations."

DM 412762

You may arrive when READY

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412763

>>412760
"The best. I even found faith, in there."
Chuckle a bit.
>>412761
"May he rest in peace."

Donrick [Smith] 412764

>>412763
"Religious?"

Liviana [Templar] 412765

>>412763
"Are you a pony of faith as well?"

>>412762
Ready when they are

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412766

>>412762
Ready.
>>412764
>>412765
Nod.
"The Moon lights my path."

Donrick [Smith] 412767

>>412762
Ready.

Liviana [Templar] 412768

>>412766
I nod
"Glad to hear so."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412769

>>412768
"But… Don't exactly think me a priest. It's just a way I've chosen to live my life, from a certain point onward.
What of your call?"

DM 412770

>>412765
>>412766
>>412767
[<- CENTRAL WINTERSGRASP]
This is yours.

A more recently built exit, designed to grant easy access to Palace Wintersgrasp, birthplace of High King Frostmourn.
…not much to look at to be honest. It's an old castle on a hill overlooking some woods and a town near some farmlands and orchards.
In the distance lies a keep that was converted into the Wintersgrasp Academy.

As you exit, you realize this gate is even more heavily guarded than the last…

Donrick [Smith] 412771

>>412770
"Is that it?"

Liviana [Templar] 412772

>>412769
"I am a sister of the Holy Order of Sophia. We are holy warriors, somewhat akin to paladins."

>>412770
"So this is Wintergrasp…"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412773

>>412772
"I see. Ancient institution?"
Well, crap.
>>412771
>>412772
"It is. This castle looked so much bigger ten years ago."
>>412770
Approach a guard.
"The High King?"

DM 412774

>>412773
"At the palace, Swansong."

Donrick [Smith] 412775

>>412773
"Did it look better too?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412776

>>412775
"To the eyes of a kid? Yes, it looked perfect. It still kind of is, really. But it has become too small for what it represents."
>>412774
Nod in thanks and lead our guests there.

Liviana [Templar] 412777

>>412773
"Yes, very much so. We are worshipers of the Sun."

>>412775
"Don't be rude."

Donrick [Smith] 412778

>>412777
"What? I just asked. I expected something better from a high king."

>>412776
"The High King plans on moving to someplace more comfortable then?"

Liviana [Templar] 412779

>>412778
I sigh and shake my head.

DM 412780

>>412776
Same old Wintersgrasp.
The guards at the door salute you
"Looking for the High King?
He's… in his old room."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412781

>>412778
"Yes. And it is indeed the matter of our next travel."
>>412779
Look between the two of them.
"Interesting. Is that your native language?"
>>412780
Ah.
"Thank you. Mind taking care of our guests as I announce them?"

Turn to Liviana, Donrick and the last pony whose name I forgot.
"If you'll excuse me, I'll go alert the king of your arrival."

Donrick [Smith] 412782

>>412781
I nod.
"Thank you."

DM 412783

>>412781
The guard nods
>>412782
"Please, this way. We can wait in the meeting room."

Liviana [Templar] 412784

>>412781
"It is. It takes some getting used to speaking in your language instead, forgive me for being so rude."

>>412783
I nod
"Thank you."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412785

>>412782
And off I go to find the High King.
"… Frosty?"

Donrick [Smith] 412786

>>412783
Follow them.
How's that meeting room?

Liviana [Templar] 412787

>>412782
>>412786
"Some difference with the imperial palace of Clopantinople… Then, Wintergrasp isn't known for its wealth."

Donrick [Smith] 412788

>>412787
"Just say it, they look poor."

Liviana [Templar] 412789

>>412788
"… They do. But that doesn't mean we can just insult them."
I sigh and take off my helm, putting it on a table
"No matter… we're about to meet the High King, that's what matters most."

Donrick [Smith] 412790

>>412789
"At least we got here faster with the help of this guy."

Liviana [Templar] 412791

>>412790
"He seems very civil."
I smile
"And his mask is much less creepier than of that lady in Snowborder."

Donrick [Smith] 412792

>>412791
"Not getting frightened, are you?"
Smirk.

DM 412793

>>412785
He looks kinda miserable. Surrounded by all the stuff he had as a kid…
"Yes?"
>>412786
Not very big.
It has a table and some comfortable seats but little in the way of decoration beyond some tapestries and taxidermy.

412794

>>412792
"Of course not!"
I feign a huff

>>412793
Oh, art! Take a look at those tapestries.

Roll #1 9 = 9

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412795

>>412793
Flutter close to him, sit down.
"Thinking back?"

Donrick [Smith] 412796

>>412793
Take a seat.

>>412794
"Don't worry, good old Donny is here to scare the bad guys away if you are."

Liviana [Templar] 412797

>>412796
"Don't forget about Chell, Ricky."

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412798

I guess I'm sitting in my room.

Staring at the door.

Not thinking of anything for now, I've done as much work as I care to right now. Not much to do until further developments arise.

I hope Venus gets back soon.

I'd hope for more, but it is a little far fetched to expect someone else to come in here. I haven't arranged any meetings.

Still

DM 412799

>>412794
They seem to detail historical events.
The coming of ponies, lead by a sword-wielding king.
Setting down, building a castle, and planting farms and orchards near it.
Clashing with other ponies, their king wielding a hammer.
The sword-king raising his sons.
Several more clashes, with different kings, all with the same sword and hammer.
And the last one, clearly only a few years old at most, with a single king, wearing two crowns, leaning on a sword with the hammer depicted inside it. His coat a cold blue. His mane a deep grey. One of his legs like dark iron.

DM 412800

>>412795
"Grimalphas' words still sting, old friend.
I fear I may be losing sight of what is really important to me."

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412801

Oh wait, North is active now?

shit

Liviana [Templar] 412802

>>412799
"Interesting…"
I smile
"I love tapestries."

Donrick [Smith] 412803

>>412797
"How could I?"

>>412802
"I love steel better."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412804

>>412798
So this was some time in the past before I went to fetch the two travelers.
Knock down that door.
Stare Verne down.
"You."
>>412799
Hey, I recognize that reference!
>>412800
And she said what exactly?
"Are you?"
Look around the room. Anything I recognize?

Liviana [Templar] 412805

>>412803
"Well I wont deny I don't like weapons myself but… Tapestries are so amazing because no matter which language you speak, you can still pick up some history from the images."

Liviana [Templar] 412806

>>412805
I like weapons myself*

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412807

>>412804
Stare back, seated.

"Yes, I am myself. What brings you here, Pumpkin?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412808

>>412807
"Your lying face!"
Move closer, angry.

Donrick [Smith] 412809

>>412805
"Steel sings the same song to everyone if you hit it."

Liviana [Templar] 412810

>>412809
"Hah! That's true enough."
I giggle

Donrick [Smith] 412811

>>412810
"Or if hit someone with it."
I chuckle as well.
"I really wonder about the smiths they have here."

Liviana [Templar] 412812

>>412811
"Narpa and Golden Oats are big names around here. No doubt the High King keeps them close."

DM 412813

You, Celestia, you are all the same. You do not understand our ways. You do not respect them. You think you know better. That you will help us. When all you bring is the very thing you say you seek to prevent - the death of our culture.
Go build your roads over our graves. Go defile the memories of the sacrifices of our kings. Bring here your trade, your vegetables, your sun and whatever else. Destroyer.

Don't ask who is viceroy in Stormheart now. That can be one of several candidates.
"I honestly do not know any more…
And I have a war to end. One where I do not even know who to side with."

Donrick [Smith] 412814

>>412812
"I'm sure they would share some of their secrets with a fellow of their trade."

Liviana [Templar] 412815

>>412814
"That would be desirable."

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412816

>>412808
I have nothing to say.

Keep still.

Donrick [Smith] 412817

>>412815
"I'm sure they'll come around."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412818

>>412813
Lay back, relaxing next to him.
"Here's a tip.
You don't kill ponies.
You talk with them. Grimalphas… She knows this.
She knows you fear losing yourself.
Heck, I do too, at times.
But look at what's happened instead.
We spared a bloodshed. Stopped nations in war since decades.
Rooted nests of demonic corruption all over our beautiful North.
And while doing this, each of us has remained unique.
Irongoe with its forge, Rockeye with their magic, Eaglecrest with their martial honor and Stormheart with their proud dickheadness."
>>412816
Keep looking angry at him.
"We never went fishing!"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412819

>>412818
>Rooted out*

Liviana [Templar] 412820

>>412817
"That's pretty much why we're here, isn't it? Making sure they scratch our backs while we scratch theirs."
I tap a hoof against my chin
"Maybe that's a bit of a crude way to put things…"

DM 412821

>>412818
He looks at his armour, standing idly in a corner
"And yet I carry a bit of all of them…
…why are you here, anyway?"

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412822

>>412818
"I'm sorry. I was caught up. Maybe when we have a reprieve after Timberjaw?"

Donrick [Smith] 412823

>>412820
"We want it to be equally beneficial?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412824

>>412821
Raise a brow.
"I need a reson to come talk with you?"
>>412822
"Oh you better! Because I'm not letting neither you nor Venus off the hoo- Where is she?"

DM 412825

>>412824
"No.
I just thought you were out on patrol today, is all. Made me think something came up that needed immediate attention.
I'm glad I was wrong."

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412826

>>412824
"Out, looking at the gryphon weapons. I… stayed behind for work."

Liviana [Templar] 412827

>>412823
"Of course we do. A strong, united North means Equestria will worry less about us and more about them. Less suffering for ponykind overall too."
I smile fondly
"And it will be a stick in the eye for those alicorns too."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412828

>>412825
"See, actually, there might be something…"
Sigh.
"A little fun, at that.
Ponies from the far south, one of them is a smith and they are walking around with a thing that sure as hell is not a pony, but can walk and talk.
Interested yet?"
>>412826
"You should have took it as a chance to stay with her, you know."

DM 412829

>>412828
"Far south?
…exactly what do you mean?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412830

>>412829
"I mean not equestrians.
Clopantinople, ever heard of it?"

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412831

>>412828
"She needs here time on her own. She likes to plan surprises for me sometimes. I always have my nights with her, anyway, and a pony needs time to themselves, too."

"So, a fishing trip? Sure."

Take out a bottle under my desk, and two cups.

"..care for some drink? Been saving this for a important guest, but you'll do."

DM 412832

>>412830
"Clopantinople…
…the Empire of Trotantium?"

Donrick [Smith] 412833

>>412827
"Two birds with one rock."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412834

>>412831
"Hey."
My voice hardens, and I will stare once more.
"A stallion and a mare are not just meant to spend their nights together.
Do you ever ask yourself why she makes you so many surprises?
I know why Bearing did it for me."
Say this next part very slowly, and very quietly.
"Because I was never home."
>>412832
"Just them. Oh, and hey, don't mention the whole golem thing. I used the eye. They have no idea.
Also, the jenny there has a nasty think on her coat, looks like a damn undead. But both her and her friend seem really nice."

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412835

>>412834
Keep sipping and nod.

Liviana [Templar] 412836

>>412833
"An entire flock, more like."
I chuckle
"The trading will be helpful too. We both have plenty of unique resources to exchange."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412837

>>412835
"You know this already, uh?"

Donrick [Smith] 412838

>>412836
"Like cold and snow?"

DM 412839

>>412834
"Well… maybe it will help me take my mind off… everything.
Where are they?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412840

>>412834
Scrap that.
Donkey.

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412841

>>412839
"Meeting room.
I had a guard escort them there."

DM 412842

>>412841
"Very good. Thank you."
He starts putting on his armour
"Any other news?"

Liviana [Templar] 412843

>>412838
"No silly. Most importantly is Rockeye and their magic. You know we're lacking in that department… the arcane magic part, anyway. The Empress wants to fix that. Rockeye has created some great magical tools according to the Bureau of Barbarians."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412844

>>412842
"We should all go fishing.
You, me, Verne.
Maybe take the girls too, once Timberjaw is dealt with."

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412845

>>412837
Sip some more. I don't even know my voice is changing.

"Bearing… Bearing Fruit. One we fight to protect. Venus… Venus is not pure, like Bearing. She has gone through suffering. She… knows. That is why she can stay with me. That is why she can accept one like me, one who has told her many a terrible, evil thing. But… Bearing. I thought you lucky before, but now, I do not know."

Donrick [Smith] 412846

>>412843
"And do you think they are simple enough to trade magic secrets, for say, some olives?"

DM 412847

>>412844
"That might be fun."
He finishes, and levitates his many-layered crown onto his head
"Go spend some time with your wife. She deserves you."

Liviana [Templar] 412848

>>412846
"Olives are delicious."
I smirk
"But like I said, that's only the most important part. In the end, it's up to the Empress to decide what is best."

DM 412849

>>412846
>>412843
"ANNOUNCING HIGH KING FROSTMOURN OF THE UNITED NORTHLANDS.
ALL HAIL."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412850

>>412845
"Damnit, pon."
Flutter down violently on a chair.
"Stop taking this so… Negatively!"
>>412847
"Hey I want to meet these new guys. Bearing won't really miss me for what, a few hours?"

Donrick [Smith] 412851

>>412848
"Sending us here to freeze of our-"

>>412849
Stand up from my seat.

Liviana [Templar] 412852

>>412849
I perk up and turn to the doors opening, bowing.

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412853

>>412850
"That is among our duties, isn't it? To take the negatives so that those under us can live without them. But you have enough on your hooves, don't you? Let me take them off for you. I always do that. No reason you should have to.. feel bad, when I can do it for you… HIC"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412854

>>412853
Shake my head lazily.
"No. Our duty is to make the North a better place. If we suffer while doing it, what's it worth for?"

DM 412855

>>412850
"Come along then."
>>412851
>>412852
Tall and strong looking, with a flowing mane of ashen grey and a coat of cold blue, the High King enters.
He is clad in an armour that mimics the shape of a pony's muscles. Made of steel and marble, with glowing runes on key points, it gives him the appearance of a walking, idealized statue. His left back leg looks thinner than the others, and moves with a distinct mechanical motion.
Upon his head is a crown, or indeed several crowns, built into one as layers. And at his side is a sword, much like the one in the newest of the tapestries.
"You must be the Trotantines.
Welcome to my cold home in the north."

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412856

>>412854
"We suffer so we make the North a better place. We suffer so others don't have to. I… I do evil-HIC things so other ponies don't have to. Youuu get what I'm saaaaying?"

Donrick [Smith] 412857

>>412855
Can I notice what's up with that leg as a smith and craftsman?

Bow my head.
"Donrick, son of Donovan, Smith of the Court.
Thank you for seeing us."

Liviana [Templar] 412858

>>412855
I straighten up again
"Greetings upon thee, your Imperial Majesty Frostmourn, wondrous High King of all the Northlands. I am sister Liviana of the holy order of Sophia. We thank you for your gracious hospitality."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412859

>>412855
Enter the room at Frosty's side.
>>412856
"You… You can't be serious.
You were never meant for this!"
Fly close to him, take the bottle off his hooves.
"The hell is wrong with you!"

DM 412860

>>412858
"Forgive me if I do not know much of your order or ways. The Northlands have not had much contact with your empire of Trotanium, sister Livyanne."
>>412857
Of course you can. The joint structure is not at all unlike Chell's.
"Smith?
I have great respect for your kind, good Donrick."

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412862

>>412859
"Never meant? I've done it for toooooo long. And IIII'm sorry for everythinggggg.. everything I've done to you. The hell's wrong with mee? What isn't? III… I made a young pegasus with happy dreams for the future into a tool of a King, who, as a prince, I convinced to give himself wholly to his cauuse, with no regard for his own-own well-being. What.. what is right with me?"

Donrick [Smith] 412864

>>412860
Is he wearing a golem leg then?
That's… weird.
"I am glad to hear that.
We haven't been here for long, but I have already heard a few things of interests about the smiths and their skills here."

Liviana [Templar] 412865

>>412860
I nod
"That is why we were sent here, your highness. We have been monitoring your progress for some time. Our newly crowned Empress, Lavinia XV Goldhoof, has decided that one of her first courses of action should be ending the lack of dialogue between our fair nations. And… it's Liviana, your highness. Not Livyanne."

DM 412866

>>412864
"The name of Narpa reaches far I see.
…Interested in my leg I see?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412871

>>412862
Flutter slowly back down, resting the bottle away.
"Verne, calm down. Me and Frosty, we do this because we want to. Because it's our call.
You did nothing wrong. And neither did Venus, so damnit, go with her! Stay with her, love her! Get all this off your chest!"

Donrick [Smith] 412874

>>412866
Nod and look him in the eyes.
"Yes, I hope I did not offend you.
I find it peculiar."

DM 412880

>>412874
He is looking slightly past you
"As a smith, I can see why."
>>412865
"Livinia, Lavinia…? Do all Trotantine mares have similar names, or is that just coincidence?"

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412882

>>412871
Go limp and look away.

"I don't knooow. You are all suffering so much. I want to take it off you all. I tell myself it is to make sure you are all of sound mind to do your jobs. Deeper reasons are-are that I think I did this to you all. Did I glorify the idea of building a nation with such means so much? I-I… I can justify all I have done all I like, but at the end of the cycle of the stars, should I be judged, I belong nowhere other than Tartarus. Do you… do you know what I once told Venus, the one who cares for me day and night, the one who loves me, and I love in return?"

Donrick [Smith] 412883

>>412880
Raise an eyebrow slightly.
"I did my research on the field, yes.
As you can see."
Motion to Chell.

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412884

>>412882
Stay silent for a while. Then, in a low voice, talk again.
"No friend. Tell me, what did you say to her?"

Liviana [Templar] 412886

>>412880
"My mother was a bit of a comedian, you see. And please… just Liviana. Not Livinia."

DM 412888

>>412883
it takes him a second to notice you are pointing, and he then turns to look
"Remarkable.
A golem, then, I take it?"
>>412886
"Hm. Can't say mine was.
A meaningful name if there ever was one. And please forgive me. I do not mean to be rude. It is just difficult for me to pronounce right, I guess. Foreign name and all."

Donrick [Smith] 412893

>>412888
"Feel free to ask her, your highness."

Liviana [Templar] 412896

>>412888
"I understand. No offense taken at all."
I chuckle
"I'm sure you'll remember the exact pronunciation once you get used to it."

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412902

>>412884
"That.. that as my guard, she should die for me."

"On every level, it makes sense. She is my guard so my life is preserved. If-if something happens that one of us must die for the other, then, she should be the one. If she is the one, then I, in my position, can continue working to build our land. This will make more ponies happy. The-the needs of many over the needs of few."

"It was a foolish thing, anyway. It was a suggestion to cheer her up when I lost my leg, and being a warrior, also a way to keep her off the battlefield. At least with me, I have ensure better safety. But to-to tell her to die for me… the needs of many over the needs of few. The needs of many over the needs of few. The-the…"

DM 412904

>>412893
"A golem that speaks? This is new."
"is-it?
I-was-not-aware.
greetings-high-king"
He takes a a few steps around it
"What a wondrous machine. What powers it?"
>>412896
"Well learning a single word might be doable. I hope you don't expect me to hold all talks in your… um…
…language?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412908

>>412902
No, I'm not listening to that.
As soon as you get to
>then, she should be the one.
I'm gonna do a thing every friend should do.
Slap you hard.
'1d10'
>>412904
"Incredible, isn't it?"
Look at the golem and grin.

Roll #1 8 = 8

Donrick [Smith] 412909

>>412904
"A rather complex mechanic, but it is all connected and gains most of it's powers from the crystal core."

Liviana [Templar] 412911

>>412904
"Our grasp on your language is strong enough that you need not to worry about that. We can also do it in Prench, if you'd like."
I chuckle

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412912

>>412908
'1d10+8' for knockback

Roll #1 2 + 8 = 10

DM 412915

>>412909
"A crystal core… hm…
hm hm hm… this could… change things…
Ahem
Excuse me. I can sometimes get a little lost in thought. Tell me. Can you guess, just from looking, how mine works?"
>>412911
"…Prench…."
His face jerks a little

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412919

>>412912
Shaking my hoof, I will walk over to you. Slowly.
"Ah. That felt good.
You still in the mood to shout bullshit?"
>>412915
Nudge his armor slightly to bring him back to reality.

Donrick [Smith] 412920

>>412915
Can I?
'1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Liviana [Templar] 412921

>>412915
"I'm sorry?"

DM 412928

>>412920
Some sort of life-mimicking magic. A little rough, but animates the stone to the point of being lifelike when it moves.
>>412919
"Huh? Oh. Sorry.
I just… thought of… you know.
Two ponies we know."
>>412921
"Just some old memories is all. Reminded me of someone I know.
Anyway, my Prench is terrible."

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412929

>>412912
>>412908
>>412919

The floor is pretty nice.

It's hard. I don't deserve a nice, soft bed. I got one for Venus to sleep with me, though, it took 2 months of savings.

"Maybe. I am full of it, after all."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412936

>>412928
Pat the back of his armor.
"Yeah. I know. It's hard for all of us."
>>412929
"So what, you want me to punch it all out of you?"
Crack my hooves, hovering above him menaceously.

Donrick [Smith] 412937

>>412928
I nod as I examine it, then back to him as I explain.
"Seems to me like it uses magic.
Animation. That's all I can tell.
Seems to work flawlessly nevertheless."

Liviana [Templar] 412942

>>412928
"That's okay, we'll just stick to your language then."
I smile and look at Donrick

>>412937
"It does seem very impressive."

DM 412943

>>412937
"Very astute. I'm sure Golden Oats would love to share some time with you."
>>412936
"Not in front of the guests. They don't need to be bothered."

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412944

>>412936
"I let Venus do it, but you'll do. I haven't paid penance for you yet."

Donrick [Smith] 412947

>>412942
Nod.
"That it does."

>>412943
"He was the one who created it?"

DM 412952

>>412942
"I suppose Norse is not a very difficult language to learn then. It's always a little hard to guess that about your own native language I suppose."
>>412947
"Indeed. Both of them."

Donrick [Smith] 412956

>>412952
"Both?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412961

>>412956
Chuckle slightly at his surprise.

Liviana [Templar] 412963

>>412952
"It is, actually. But I took a sufficient amount of courses to master it. As did Donrick. And Chell… well that's a different case altogether."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412968

>>412944
"Oh come. The. Fuck. On! There is nothing you have to pay!"
Fly down and pull him up, dusting him off.
"Let me check that."
Look over the place where I hit him.
'1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

Donrick [Smith] 412970

>>412963
Smile.
"Good company made it easier to learn."

DM 412973

>>412956
"Ah, you didn't notice?"
He flexes his armour a bit, allowing it's sculpted muscles to move as if they were the real deal.
>>412963
"A scholar as well as a warrior. Fascinating."

Donrick [Smith] 412975

>>412973
"Ah, I see now.
If you don't mind asking, is it comfortable to wear a golem?"

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 412977

>>412968
Nothing, it seems.

"I am sorry you had to see-see me like this."

"If you are certain that your will is your own, then-then will you assert your partnership with me again? I do owe you a fishing trip. Like back in school, where we would do crazy things. I-I miss those times."

DM 412981

>>412975
"It is not unlike wearing a second skin. This one is a better fit than my old one though, seeing as that one was built when I was still a little smaller and compact."

Liviana [Templar] 412986

>>412973
I nod
"The knights of Saint Sophia are indeed not just warriors. There are plenty of other skills we are taught. We are holy warriors, somewhat akin to paladins."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412987

>>412977
"Dude. Calm.
First of all, let's go get you under a cold shower, okay?"

Donrick [Smith] 412989

>>412981
Wince slightly.
"I do not mean to pry, but I also heard you had a unique weapon as well."

DM 412991

>>412986
"Paladins…
…I knew a paladin well, once…"
>>412989
"Word really travels fast.."
he draws his sword
"The Northern Regalia. Forged from the remains of the signature weapons of the kings of Wintersgrasp and Ironfoe. A symbol of unity among my peoples."

"Pumpkin. Please get Verne and Id here, would you?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412994

>>412991
Raise a brow.
"Yes my King."
Bow slightly and leave to find Verne and Waxing.

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 412996

>>412994
Surprise, I was just outside the door considering how to come in without making noise.

Liviana [Templar] 412998

>>412991
"Our skillset is more directed at martial ability as well as healing magic. Paladins tend to use their magic for offensive purposes."
I look around
"If I recall correctly… Wintergrasp has a holy order as well."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 412999

>>412996
Shoot you an annoyed look and nod with my head to move it inside.

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 413002

TIME WARP

>>412987
"…thanks. I.. forgot what I had to say."

>>412994
I'm where I usually am, though probably looking a little less gloomy.

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413004

>>412999
And in I go.

Donrick [Smith] 413005

>>412991
"Work of Master Narpa, correct?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413006

>>413002
"You were saying about how you are gonna pack your bags and go meet Venus. Or how you're gonna send her a letter and say you miss her, to come home soon."
>future
Barge into his office.
"We got visitors. From faaaaaar south."
Grin.

DM 413007

>>412998
"It is closer to an elite guard. The Warriors of Sunlight. They were founded by the paladin I referred to."
>>413004
"Waxing. Good to see you. Thought it might be good to have someone from Ironfoe here, seeing as sir Donrick has interest in their work and masters."
>>413005
"Quite.
The finest smith of the North, if not the entire world. I would entrust it to one other to forge the symbol of my kingdom."

Liviana [Templar] 413008

>>413007
"Oh, I see. I'd love to meet this paladin some time then. A fellow worshiper of the Sun…"
I bow my head slightly at the new arrival
"A good day to you."

Donrick [Smith] 413010

>>413007
"I am interested to talk, and if possible, even learn from him then. I'm afraid as well as I served the court, my works are not as impressive."

>>413004
Nod my head towards him.
"Good day."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413011

>>413007
"Oh?"
>>413008
"Greetings, and a good day to you as well."
>>413010
"Good day to you. May I have the honor of your names? I am Waxing Crescent, of Ironfoe and the United North."

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 413012

>>413006
>past
"Pack my bags? She's here, just out. She'll be back in a few."

"I'll just… do the same. Let her know how much I appreciate her. I couldn't build a nation without her. And… and… ah, yes. Perhaps before or after our fishing trip is when I'll schedule our wedding. A simple ceremony at our school, and you.. you have to come, of course."

Donrick [Smith] 413016

>>413011
"Donrick, son of Donovan, Smith of the Court."

Liviana [Templar] 413017

>>413010
"Don't be so modest, Donrick. Your work is equally impressive."

>>413011
"I am sister Liviana of the Holy order of Saint Sophia, here on behalf of our fair Empress Lavinia Goldhoof."

DM 413023

>>413008
"I'm afraid that is not possible.
She is no longer with us."
>>413010
"He lives in Ironfoe. Waxing Crescent here is from there."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413025

>>413012
"Then I'll try not to get killed in Timberjaw."
Grin at him.
>future

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413026

>>413016
>>413017
I'll nod to each in turn, and then my attention will be taken by the golem.
"That is quite a piece of work, there."

Donrick [Smith] 413027

>>413017
"Maybe all it takes is naming your weapons then?"
Chuckle.

>>413023
"Is he?"

Donrick [Smith] 413028

>>413026
"I am glad you like her.
Chell, if you could introduce yourself again."

DM 413030

>>413028
>>413026
"Yes-creator.
I-am-Chell-assistant-smith-pleased-to-meet-you."

Liviana [Templar] 413031

>>413023
"Oh, did she…? My condolences."

>>413027
"Well, you know what do do now to become the best smith of all time, Donrick."
I chuckle along.

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413032

>>413027
"I am. Did not have the talent for smithing that our nation is famous for, though, sadly enough."
>>413030
"And a pleasure to meet you, Chell."
I'll think for a moment.
"I realize you've likely already answered this, but how do you speak?"
>>413031
Offhandedly, I'll remark.
"It takes far more than simply naming something to make it good. Though this golem is certainly an amazing step in that direction."

DM 413033

>>413031
"She…
Will be remember for the good she did."
>>413032
"I-speak-with-the-gifts-of-my-creator"

BDN 413034

>>413025
"I'm expecting her any moment now… I think a hot bath would do better for myself and her. Thank you so much. I… Never mind. There's not much more that needs to be said other than that I'll be here when you need me."

Present time:
"Right. Let me straighten out this suit… "
Prep myself and leave with Pumpkin.

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413035

>>413033
"Gifts?"

Donrick [Smith] 413036

>>413032
"You can still tell some of the customs though, can you not? I would be happy if you shared some of your traditions, as would I."

>>413031
"If I only knew this earlier."

DM 413038

>>413035
"Yes.
My-creator-placed-his-gifts-inside-me-to-permit-me-to-speak."
>>413034
Welcome in.
"Verne. Please meet Sister Livaina and Sir Donrick. Trotantites."

Liviana [Templar] 413039

>>413032
I chuckle
"We are only joking, of course. Ironworking and metalcasting is an important part of our culture."

>>413033
I nod
"That's good. To remember the dead for their greatest deeds."

>>413036
"I guess we can go home now."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413040

>>413034
"Try not to close yourself o- Nah, you know what? I'm gonna check on you any time I can, from now on.
Sorry for being so distant lately…"
Move in close and open my hooves, hugging him. Like a true bro would.
'1d10+2'
>>413038
And we sit once more.

Roll #1 2 + 2 = 4

DM 413044

>>413040
That's more on the awkward and slightly homo side than the bro side of hugs.
>>413039
"Hrm.
Let us not dwell on her."

BDN 413045

>>413038
"Trotanites? Yes… much has been heard of your land. What brings such esteemed guests to us today?"

>>413040
What an untrained hug. Let's see what I can do.
'1d10+2'

Roll #1 10 + 2 = 12

Donrick [Smith] 413046

>>413039
Snicker slightly.

Liviana [Templar] 413047

>>413038
I smile
"You highness… Lavinia. Not Livaina. And I believe the correct term would be Trotantines. Or Romanes."

>>413044
I nod
"Of course."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413050

>>413036
"All of Ironfoe are at least taught to maintain their equipment. I fear I know nothing that would be superior to what you already know, and have put into practice."
>>413038
"I assume such gifts are a crafter's secret."

DM 413051

>>413047
"I supposed I really should learn a bit of… Trotantian? Romane? …your language, just to stop these mistakes from happening."
>>413050
"they-are-very-private-yes."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413052

>>413051
Wince at that.

Donrick [Smith] 413053

>>413045
"Friendly intentions between nations."

>>413050
"If not the trade, you could talk about the customs."

Liviana [Templar] 413054

>>413045
"We are here on behalf of our beloved Empress, to open up diplomatic channels between our two empires and lay the foundations of new trade agreements. We believe there is much to be gained by doing so."

>>413051
I chuckle
"I suppose that is a possibility. Donrick and I would be more than happy to teach you."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413056

>>413051
"Then I shall not ask further."
>>413053
"Ironfoe is a nation that lives for the craft, master Donrick. Most everyone there has at one point in their lives dreamed of being an apprentice to Mastersmith Narpa. I can't imagine our customs would vary too wildly from your own when it comes to fire and forge. But other such talks would have to wait until there are less pressing matters."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413058

>>413045
Whoa.
We pulled off something seriously high on the bro-chart.
"We- We totally gotta remember this shake!"

Donrick [Smith] 413061

>>413056
I nod.
"Of course."
Turn to Liviana.
"We do plan to stay, so we can have that talk later."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413063

>>413061
"I look forward to it."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413070

>>413061
"Oh, do you? For how long if I might ask?"

DM 413071

>>413052
"…what?"
>>413054
"Certainly.
Now, I believe you will need some form of accommodations here?"

Donrick [Smith] 413072

>>413063
"As do I."

Donrick [Smith] 413075

>>413070
"That I do not yet know."

Liviana [Templar] 413076

>>413056
"Ironfoe did always strike us as the Northern counterpart of Draken."

>>413061
"Yes, we do."
I turn to Frostmourn
"Forgive us, High King, but our mission consists mostly of reconnaissance. We were hoping to not only converse with you, but with the other kings of the North as well. In extension to that and as a sign of goodwill, we are offering our services to your cause as well."

>>413071
"Yes, that would be preferable. I would like to ditch the armor after being inside it for so long."
I chuckle

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413077

>>413071
"Nothing my King. Nothing."
>>413075
"No matter for how long, welcome then."

Donrick [Smith] 413082

>>413077
"You are certainly more hospitable than the ponies of Snowborder."

Liviana [Templar] 413084

>>413082
I nod quickly in agreement

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413085

>>413082
>>413084
"We care more for the values of friendship, loyalty and truth than those of gold and gems."

DM 413086

>>413076
"I understand. Would you prefer to stay here at the palace, or? My kingdom is at your disposal."

Donrick [Smith] 413088

>>413085
"That is a comforting thought if we are to stay."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413089

>>413082
I'll refrain from snorting as Snowborder is mentioned.
>>413085
"And there are certain unspoken rules of hospitality, as well."

BDN 413090

>>413058
"HAHAHA! Yes, yes… Now, I need to heat up this water, and prepare a surprise of my own for Venus. I'll be seeing you. "

>>413054
>>413053
"Splendid. We hope for the same. That is an interesting mechanism you have there. Automated, like a golem, but… far more potential…"

Liviana [Templar] 413093

>>413086
"Wherever we are not a bother. I'd hate to be picky."

Donrick [Smith] 413095

>>413090
"I can assure you, Chell is one of a kind."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413100

>>413090
Nod, and leave Verne to his hot bath.
But just because I'm a bro, I'll clean up any trace of alcohol around.
'1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

DM 413104

>>413093
"Well you seem to travel light. If you wish to go no further, I can arrange you a place here.
Wintersgrasp is not the most… impressive place in the north, but it holds special meaning to me."

Donrick [Smith] 413106

>>413104
That would explain it…
"We would be honoured."

BDN 413107

>>413095
"How does 'Chell' work? What can it do? "

DM 413109

>>413107
"I-am-capable-of-aiding-in-many-tasks-including-smith-work-and-combat."

Liviana [Templar] 413113

>>413104
"I understand."
I tap a hoof on the ground
"As a second token of goodwill, there should be some gifts arriving here in the comings weeks. We decided to let those travel separately so they would not slow us down."

>>413107
>>413109
"She's quite the lifesaver. Helps us keep out of trouble."
I chuckle.

Donrick [Smith] 413122

>>413107
>>413109
"You heard her."

DM 413125

>>413106
"Do you want separate rooms, or?"
>>413113
"Arriving through Snowborder, I assume?"

VerneFoglight [Advisor] 413127

>>413109
"You have an intelligence! Is it born, like golems, or… made? Or both?"

Liviana [Templar] 413131

>>413125
"Unfortunately so."

Donrick [Smith] 413133

>>413127
"It took a while to perfect, but it was crafted by me, yes."

DM 413140

>>413131
"Not like you have many options. As far as I know, they have the closest there is to a safe harbor and they control all land routes as well.
I hope your couriers are either well funded or great liars."

Verne Foglight 413144

>>413133
"Born. But can it learn on its own? How many uses can it be adapted to? Yes, this is very interesting… "

Liviana [Templar] 413147

>>413140
"Money is not exactly a problem. It should be fine."
I scratch my head with a hoof
"If worse comes to worse, we could always use dragons to ferry the goods over. Although that… would require some effort."

Donrick [Smith] 413149

>>413144
"Chell learned smithing because I taught her to. She learned this language as well. On her own though? Probably, but only small things."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413151

>>413147
"Not to mention cause quite a panic. Dragons don't usually fly parcel post, to my knowledge."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413152

>>413147
"That… Opens a wider concern. What would Equestria think of dragons flying between our two countries?"

DM 413153

>>413147
"A live dragon? How?"

Verne Foglight 413156

>>413149
"Good enough. This alone is amazing. How did you make it-her? Application of magic, or.. something else?"

Donrick [Smith] 413157

>>413153
"Breeding and training of course.
Dragons are quite useful with their breaths when it comes to smithing."

>>413156
"Without going into detail, it requires a lot of work, complex mechanics, and a magical core."

DM 413159

>>413157
"Dragon-based forges… what a… novel idea.
I never thought of that.
Then, for all I know, we have no dragons here. Not live ones anyway."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413161

>>413156
I'll clear my throat slightly.
"Master Foglight, I'm certain Mastersmith Narpa would like to have at least something left to ask master Donrick when and if he plans to visit Ironfoe."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413162

>>413159
"Hey makes you wonder if somewhere around World's Crown dragons are hiding.."

Liviana [Templar] 413163

>>413151
"It could be done at night, while all are sleeping. But as I said, too much effort to make it happen for a simple delivery."

>>413152
I snort
"We aren't too concerned about their feelings."

>>413153
"They are somewhat common in the Northern parts of the Empire. Our smiths use their magical dragonfire to forge weapons. They also serve as a way of communication. And as war assets, of course."

Verne Foglight 413166

>>413157
Mechanics… aside from our own develops in pure magic, we… Yes. If Trotantium has a good base in the workings of mechanisms, we have much to gain from you."

Donrick [Smith] 413167

>>413159
"It works quite well. My very weapon was crafted that way."

DM 413171

>>413162
"…I never thought of that."
>>413163
"Well what is north to you is far south to us.
Tell me, do you have any experience in dragon hunting?"

Donrick [Smith] 413177

>>413166
"And from what I hear about your magics, likewise."

Liviana [Templar] 413181

>>413171
"We don't… hunt them. Not really, anyway. They are intelligent creatures and capable of speech. We hatch them ourselves and train them as they grow up. When they are small, we sometimes teach them how to ferry messages around. As they grow older, they are used for smithing purposes. And when they are fully grown, they move on and head north on their own. Free to do as they please. Some decide to stick around and continue aiding us in various ways."

DM 413183

>>413181
"And what of hostile ones?"

Liviana [Templar] 413191

>>413183
"It has happened that villages and towns have been terrorized by a wild dragon. We will try to scare it off or reason with it at first, through the help of domesticated dragons. If that does not work we use lethal force, yes. It's not very common, however. Dragons tend to keep to themselves."

DM 413204

>>413191
"So not many tips then.
…I guess I'll just need to get creative if the time comes.

Now then. Are you two in need of rest, or shall we keep conversing?"

Liviana [Templar] 413209

>>413204
"If you are in need of expertise, the dragon hooflers would be your best choice. We didn't think of bringing somepony like that along, of course."
I look at Donrick, then back at Frostmourn
"I would hate to waste too much of your time, your highness."

Donrick [Smith] 413214

>>413204
"Wouldn't want to be a bother."

DM 413224

>>413209
>>413214
"We have much to discuss if we wish to establish lasting trade or more. I am merely wondering if your trip has left you in need of rest.
Perhaps you would like to freshen up a little. Eat. Bathe. Rest?"

Liviana [Templar] 413226

>>413224
"I would not mind a bath…"

Donrick [Smith] 413228

>>413224
"Some food would be nice, yes."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413232

>>413228
>>413226
Chuckle a bit.
"We can arrange for both.
I imagine you and your golem will share a room, Sir Donrick?"

Donrick [Smith] 413240

>>413232
Nod.
"Chell is very useful in the rare cases I want to sleep in before work in the morning."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413242

>>413240
"Let me guess, golems don't sleep and can always tell the time, uh?"

DM 413243

>>413226
"You can have my usual suite. It has a private bath."
>>413242
"I-can-pretend-to-sleep-if-it-helps-others"

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413244

>>413242
"That would be a useful ability, wouldn't it."

Donrick [Smith] 413246

>>413242
"They can see when the sun rises. And Chell rests from time to time too. It helps with not wearing out the inner workings too much, though I would not call it sleeping."

Liviana [Templar] 413249

>>413243
I cock my head
"Your suite? Your highness, you do me too much honor."

I smile at Chell.

>>413246
"It would be a useful ability though. Something to think about adding maybe?"

DM 413252

>>413249
"I'm not staying there right now anyway. it is no bother."

Donrick [Smith] 413255

>>413249
"I could probably do it with if it is counted by the turning of certain gears…"

Liviana [Templar] 413265

>>413252
"Very well then."
I bow my head
"Thank you. Your gracious hospitality is most admirable."

>>413255
"Think about it. I'll have a quick bath first. Enjoy your time with the barbarians~"
I chuckle and turn to Frostmourn
"Where is your suite? I wont be long."

Donrick [Smith] 413270

>>413265
"Don't take too long. I'm not sure how long I can keep up the 'polite as a royal squire act' without you."

DM 413272

>>413265
"It pays to be good to those who you wish to keep close.
Come. I will take you to the suite.

Pumpkin, please see Sir Donrick and… Chell to theirs."

Liviana [Templar] 413277

>>413272
I bow my head
"Thank you."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413285

>>413272
Nod and stand up.
>>413270
"Follow me, we got a nice place."

Donrick [Smith] 413287

>>413285
I nod.
"Very generous."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413292

>>413287
And then we go to some of the empty rooms.
"I'm not sure what you are used to. Will this suffice?"

DM 413293

>>413277
He takes you up to the higher levels and opens a large, rather impressive room with a double bed and separate bathroom
"I used to sleep here a lot when I could. I hope it will cater to your needs, sister Livainia."

Donrick [Smith] 413295

>>413292
Smirk.
"I'm a smith, not a Princess. Of course it will suffice."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413298

>>413295
"Nice to see you like it. Get comfortable, I'm sure the guards will be able to answer all your needs."
Turn to leave.

Liviana [Templar] 413301

>>413293
"This is… very impressive."
I start taking off my armor as I look around

Donrick [Smith] 413304

>>413298
Unstrap my weapon and put it down on a table or something, then take off my chainmail.
"Thanks again. Hey, one more thing."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413306

>>413304
I'll stop on the door.
"Sure, say it."

Donrick [Smith] 413308

>>413306
"One must wonder why a pony would ditch a real leg in favor of a golem one."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413311

>>413308
"Who knows. Maybe you could ask the High King."

Donrick [Smith] 413313

>>413311
"I don't want to seem rude."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413314

>>413313
"He might enjoy telling that story."

DM 413318

>>413301
He freezes up, then looks away
"Should I leave you to your privacy?"

Donrick [Smith] 413321

>>413314
"Would he?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413323

>>413321
Shrug.
"Probably. Yes."

Liviana [Templar] 413328

>>413318
"Feel free to ask more questions if you have any."
Fill up the bathtub .
Nice and warm… that'll be nice after all the cold.

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413332

>>413318
>>413328
"My King, perhaps it would better to let them relax after their travels, and conversation can pick up once again after they've rested and eaten."

DM 413337

>>413328
He's getting rather red in the face as he keeps looking away
"I do have much to ask, but I don't want to intrude on your uh… yeah."

Liviana [Templar] 413341

>>413332
"No really, I think it's interesting to exchange experiences."

>>413337
"My…?"

Donrick [Smith] 413342

>>413323
"Maybe I will one day then. Once he will be more comfortable."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413344

>>413342
"Did anything bother you?"

Donrick [Smith] 413345

>>413344
"Bother me? No. I'm used to it, really."

DM 413346

>>413341
"…bath?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413347

>>413345
"I don't think he had any particular problem with your face, really.
Just, he's never seen it. Neither have I, actually. Explosion?"

Donrick [Smith] 413349

>>413347
Shake my head.
"Infection. And disease that was triggered by the infection. Some luck, huh?"

Liviana [Templar] 413351

>>413346
Once the tub is filled, I step in and start washing myself.
"I don't think you are intruding, really."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413353

>>413349
"I would say. At least you are still here. And with your talent, few care for your looks."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413355

>>413351
"As it stands, lady Liviana, there is a certain degree of decorum to be kept. It would be rude of us to remain here while you are… indisposed."

Donrick [Smith] 413359

>>413353
"More than you would think.
But yes, at least I did my father proud with my work. Family tradition to be smiths and all that."

Liviana [Templar] 413360

>>413355
"Are there no public bathouses here? Maybe it's a cultural thing…"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413361

>>413359
"Must be nice, to see the smile on his face while he watches you work."
Lean against a wall, smiling slightly.

DM 413362

>>413351
>>413355
"Q-quite.
…are you sure it is no bother?"

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413364

>>413360
"None that allow mixed bathing, to my knowledge."
>>413362
I'll just glance slightly at Frostmourn. He's only taking half the hint…

Donrick [Smith] 413366

>>413361
"If only."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413367

>>413366
"Uh? Am I being indiscrete?"

Liviana [Templar] 413369

>>413362
"Bathing mostly happens in public in Clopantinople, so not exactly, no…"

>>413364
"Is that why you stay clothed inside as well?"

Donrick [Smith] 413370

>>413367
"No. He just doesn't really watch me work. Or couldn't, really. Long story."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413372

>>413370
"Mh. I guess. Always like that with fathers."
Stand up.
"We should drink together, some day."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413375

>>413369
"For me it is preference. For others, likely for fashion or simply habit. It's rather awkward to get into and out of clothing every time one would wish to leave home."

Donrick [Smith] 413377

>>413372
"I wouldn't mind making some friends. Not everyday you see a noble who actually wants to talk after they tell you what to craft."

DM 413379

>>413364
"I believe Eaglecrest had some."
>>413369
"Really? Your culture does sound… quite different."
His eyes wander momentarily

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413385

>>413377
"I'm sure even the King would love to. He's really into golemcrafting, actually. Maybe you two can geek out or something."
Chuckle a bit.
"I'm a bit more crude, not many acculturate interests.
But I do have these."
Take my daggers out and slide them to him.

Donrick [Smith] 413386

>>413385
Examine them.
"Who made them?"

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413387

>>413379
"Ah, yes. I had forgotten, since I had made certain not to go in those."
I'll move a little closer to Frostmourn.
"Your eyes wander, my King."

Liviana [Templar] 413388

>>413375
I nod
"That's understandable. Trotantium is warm enough to walk around without any clothing for most of the year, so we don't get those issues."

>>413379
"No steambaths either? Thermae?"

DM 413397

>>413387
He snaps to attention
"Speak of it to nobody. But can you blame me?"
>>413388
"Never heard of them. But it does sound lovely. Do tell."
He sits down

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413400

>>413397
"No, I suppose not."
I'll remain at attention, however.

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413402

>>413386
"Many ponies. I think the first smith was Embers, our local smith. They were little more than simple knives back then.
I cherished them for years. Stuff with a bear and all.
Then, I had them improved by the north-famous forge in Ironfoe, by the smith Golden Oats.
Turns out they were not indestructible, and I had to get them fused again.
Then, a third time, when in Rockeye I had the elemental properties infused onto them.
And again by Golden Oats, to make them fit for throwing.
Now I just need a spell capable of recalling them, and I'll call myself satisfied."

Donrick [Smith] 413409

>>413402
I run my hooves along them a few times, then give them back.
"They are quite a piece of work, I must admit. Very nice. Not exactly how we craft, but the basics are all the same."
Motion to my claymore.
"Chell, would you mind bringing that over here?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413412

>>413409
Smirk.
"I knew you must have had something nice too!"

Liviana [Templar] 413415

>>413397
"Most cities and towns have their own public bathing complexes, supplied by aqueducts or underground sources of water. There are several baths within each complex, some of them ice cold, others very hot. It is very… refreshing and relaxing at the same time. They are extremely popular among the populace."

Donrick [Smith] 413418

>>413412
"I hope you'll like it."

DM 413420

>>413415
"How novel.
For us, baths exist to clean ourselves of the dirt and sweat of work and life.
Tell me… of these steam baths. How do they function? Pouring water on hot stones?"

DM 413422

>>413409
"Yes-creator"
She lifts it and carefully brings it over

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413424

>>413418
"I have a soft spot for weapons."

Liviana [Templar] 413425

>>413420
"Pouring water on hot stones? Huh… that might be a different way to go at things…"
I shake my head
"But no, we use piping to lead steam into certain chambers to heat them up. It makes you sweat like crazy."
I laugh
"After that, a cold bath is usually taken. To get rid of the sweat."

Donrick [Smith] 413427

>>413422
>>413424
"Thank you."
Slide the Claymore out of it's sheate and hoof it over.
"A real beauty, isn't it? Do mind the trigger on the handle, do not pull that yet."

DM 413430

>>413425
"Sounds like a lot of effort and construction for something that could be done with a pile of rocks, a fire and a bucket of water."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413432

>>413427
Look it over.
"Is… Whoa. You could split a pony open with this thing."

Donrick [Smith] 413436

>>413432
"Yes, it took long to get it this sharp and still maintain it's weight. And do you want to see something even better?"

Liviana [Templar] 413437

>>413430
I chuckle
"We really like building overly complicated things. Construction and engineering are some of our fortes."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413441

>>413436
"Do I?"
Grin wide.

DM 413445

>>413437
"Timberjaw has a long tradition of construction and architecture spanning back to it's founding.
…sadly, they are at war now."
Can he keep his eyes to himself?
'1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

DM 413448

>>413445
He can.
He is a king after all.

Donrick [Smith] 413449

>>413441
"Make sure to keep the blade away from yourself. And everything."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413451

>>413445
"Once Timberjaw is taken, they'll be able to pursue that again."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413452

>>413449
"Let's… Go to the balcony then."
Grip the blade by its handle and go to the balcony, pointing towards nothingness.
"Now?"

Liviana [Templar] 413453

>>413445
"So we've heard. It was originally our first destination because of that. But we eventually decided against it. I still would like to visit it though."

>>413451
"Taken?"

Donrick [Smith] 413454

>>413452
Follow.
"Pull that lever-like trigger back to the handle and keep it there."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413456

>>413454
"Mhmh…"
'1d10'?

Roll #1 5 = 5

DM 413457

>>413456
The blade suddenly heats up into a red-hot blaze, catching you entirely off guard. It bathes the surrounding area in a fiery crimson glow, and you can feel it on your face and hooves
>>413453
>>413451
"We plan to intervene in the war and end it before more lives are lost."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413461

>>413457
"AH!"
Grunt as the hot wave hits me.
"This was… Unexpected! Ah! Ahahaha!"
Start laughing maniacally as the fire runs free.

Donrick [Smith] 413466

>>413461
"Do you have the saying 'Cut like hot knive through butter' in your language?"

Liviana [Templar] 413469

>>413457
"Oh. That's very noble of you. And it ties with our interests as well. We were hoping the conflict would end quickly as well, without too much destruction."
Dip my mane underwater, then splash some more water over myself and step out of bath, taking a towel and drying myself off.

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413476

>>413466
"Yeah. Yeah we do. It's usually the expression-"
And I'll breath in deeply.
"Whooo-hooo!"

Donrick [Smith] 413480

>>413476
Smile.
"You seem to like it very much."

DM 413481

>>413469
Did he catch that cutie mark, or was he too busy looking at the other fine aspects?

Did I, for that matter? '1d10'

DM 413485

>>413481
Not that anyone can blame him.
>>413484
As a soldier, you looked at less private, more relevant things.
A black crown.

Liviana [Templar] 413489

>>413485
I pick up my gear
"Can I possibly store my things somewhere?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413490

>>413480
"Yes! Ahah! Yes!"
Let go of the lever.
"I freaking do. Feels like I'm a real mage."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413493

>>413485
I'll have to look up on that.
>>413489
"I'm certain the king has ordered arrangements?"
I'll look to the king, hoping that I managed to remind him he's not the only one in here.

Donrick [Smith] 413497

>>413490
"Nothing magical about it.
Well, okay, maybe a bit."

DM 413498

>>413489
>>413493
"Hm?
Yes, of course.
If you don't want to keep it in the closets here, I can see to it being stored in and cared for in the armoury."

Liviana [Templar] 413505

>>413498
"Really, as long as it is off of my hooves I'll be a very happy pony."
I swing my bags across my back.

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413506

>>413497
"It's damn cool, I tell you.
You should see if there's anything you can do about my daggers, too."

DM 413515

>>413505
"I take it you want it in the armoury then?"

Liviana [Templar] 413517

>>413515
"That's fine by me."

Donrick [Smith] 413519

>>413506
"I don't want to take it apart entirely, so this would not be possible, not to mention daggers are too small for it.
I might be able to craft you something else that you prefer. Something more fitting for the size of those daggers."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413520

>>413515
>>413517
"I could escort her there, if you wish, my King."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413522

>>413519
"Oh, of course. I didn't exactly mean…"
Look at the claymore.
"This. I prefer a subtler approach to things."

DM 413524

>>413520
>>413517
He glances at you both
"Escort or take her equipment, however she prefers."

Liviana [Templar] 413525

>>413520
I nod
"Thank you, Crescent."

Donrick [Smith] 413527

>>413522
I nod.
"I see… Daggers out of your sleeve, huh?"

Liviana [Templar] 413528

>>413524
"I wouldn't mind seeing the armory."

DM 413529

>>413528
>>413525
"Do you need me along or can you manage on your own?"

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413530

>>413524
>>413525
>>413528
I'll nod, and give a small bow to King Frostmourn.
"Escort it is, then."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413531

>>413527
"Kind of. But let's just said I'm never actually going to use these. They are… Personal. Reserved for a single pony, if I ever meet him."

Donrick [Smith] 413532

>>413531
I nod.
"Ah. And the ones you use then?"

Liviana [Templar] 413534

>>413529
"I don't want to keep you from your work. If you want, I'll rejoin you shortly in the room from earlier?"

>>413530
I do the same, then follow after him as he leaves

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413535

>>413532
"Oh, normal everyday knives. I cicle through lots of them actually."
Pull out the other daggers.

Donrick [Smith] 413539

>>413535
I nod.
"Chell, come here for a second.
In the meantime, how do you get them ready for a fight? Could you show me?"

DM 413541

>>413534
"I'll be available. Come and find me when you need me. I'll be in the fifth room on the second floor."
>>413539
She walks over, silently

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413549

>>413534
On the way to the Armory, I'll have a bit of time to talk.
"So, lady Liviana, if you don't mind my asking, but which part of Trotantine do you hail from? I believe I missed that particular nugget of conversation."

Liviana [Templar] 413553

>>413541
I nod
"Understood, your highness."

>>413549
"Clopantinople. The sprawling capital of the Trotantine Empire."

413554

>>413539
Nod and sit down, placing both blades on the ground. Then, take a piece of flint from the pockets of my uniform and start sharpening one of them.

Roll #1 5 = 5

Donrick [Smith] 413556

>>413554
Shake my head.
"Not what I meant. how do you draw?"
Take a pause.
"Chell, show him how you draw your knife."

413557

>>413556
"Oh. That."
Smirk. Draw. Backstab action.

Roll #1 1 + 2 = 3

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413558

>>413553
"I'm afraid I've never quite heard of it, before today. It must be a grand place, though."

Liviana [Templar] 413563

>>413558
I smile
"It isn't exactly next doors, so I can't really blame you. But yes, it is a extremely larger and densely populated city."

DM 413565

>>413557
"DANGER!
DANGER!
DANGER!"
Chell slams her metal hoof into a very tender part of your body and repeatedly retracts and pushes out her inbuilt blade, before lifting up up and suplexing you onto your head
"Danged-neutralized-good-night."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413569

>>413565
"Oooohf! W-why…"
Escape Artist.
"That wasn't very nice…"

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413573

>>413563
I'll nod.
"Earlier you mentioned somewhere called Draken, and its similarity to Ironfoe. I take it that that is where master Donrick is from? I can't imagine a smith that talented hiding away in a country not focused on the craft…"

DM 413574

>>413569
"DANGER!
TARGET-STILL-ACTIVE!
ENGAGING-HEAVY-DEFENSES-STAND-BACK-CREATOR"

Donrick [Smith] 413576

>>413565
>>413569
"Crap!"
Smack Chell on the back of her head.
"No, Chell, he is a friend! I asked him to do that! You did a very bad thing! You hurt a friend! Never attack unless I say so!"
Turn to Pumpkin.
"I'm sorry about that, are y-"

>>413574
"CHELL SHUT DOWN!"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413578

>>413574
>>413576
Fly up and away.
"You sure she is safe?"

DM 413580

>>413576
"Sorry-creator-shutting-down"
Her blade retracts and her bolt launcher winds down.

Liviana [Templar] 413582

>>413573
I nod
"Draken is a city north of Clopantinople, situated in a mountain range called the Shudderpeaks. Not as cold as up here of course, but still a pretty cold place. It's a very important mining hub and the prime producer of weaponry."
I tap my sword
"Drakonian steel is unbreakable, cannot rust and can stand extreme temperatures."

Donrick [Smith] 413585

>>413578
"I didn't account for this change of place and all the new things."
Shake my head angrily.
"Sorry for that. Must have taken you as a threat since she is used to being around Trotantines."

>>413580
Open up the hatch on the opposite side of the bolt launcher.

DM 413586

>>413585
You can see her parts.
How lewd.

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413588

>>413585
Land.
"You are lucky my partner didn't see that. She'd have jumped at her without a second thought…
Doesn't take it well when I'm in danger."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413590

>>413582
"Fascinating. Is there some inherent magical property in the steel, or is it part of the refining process?"

Donrick [Smith] 413591

>>413588
"See, Chell just did the same.
She just lacks some of the common sense we have."

>>413586
Now…
Can I make some slight changes to avoid that from happening in the future?

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413592

>>413591
"I can understand. Just hope my wife doesn't ask where the bruise comes from."
Let out a short laugh.

Donrick [Smith] 413594

>>413592
Snort at that too.
"Wouldn't want you to get you in trouble already.
Or Chell for that matter. She could withstand a fierce battle, but an agry wife?"

DM 413595

>>413591
A twist here, a tweak there, a push here… all done.
"Online-good-morning-creator-and-friend"

Liviana [Templar] 413596

>>413590
"Dragon fire has magical properties whom certainly help in making the steel stronger, yes. But the refinement part is every little bit as important. It takes quite some time and effort, of course, but the result is high-quality steel. Our nation was founded by earth ponies, so physical strength and weapons are important to us. The need to have the best weaponry possible at our disposal to compensate for the lack of magic we own."

Donrick [Smith] 413601

>>413595
"Will you behave nice now, Chell?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413602

>>413601
Look at them talk.

DM 413603

>>413601
"Forgive-me-he-looked-very-threatening"

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413604

>>413596
"Mastersmith Narpa is going to be delighted indeed when he and master Donrick finally do meet. And even though I can't smith worth a saltlick, that Draken steel just sounds so enticing."
I'll consider briefly my axes and the mountainbreakers.
"One day, perhaps, I might have to go there."
I'll consider her last statement.
"As for the best weaponry possible, while you may have dragons and nigh-unbreakable steel, you do not have Mastersmith Narpa. His work plainly speaks for itself."
I'll chuckle slightly.
"But then again, usually two out of three are enough, especially since the Mastersmith's works aren't for mass use."

Donrick [Smith] 413605

>>413603
"We are guests here, remember this. No attacks to anyone like that, okay?"
Close her hatch.

DM 413606

>>413605
"Yes-creator-I-am-sorry-for-miscalculating"

Donrick [Smith] 413608

>>413606
"Good."
Look at Pumpkin.
"Once again, I am terribly sorry for that."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413609

>>413608
"It's in the past. I'm not that much of a pussy to worry for a small hit."

Liviana [Templar] 413610

>>413604
"Mastersmith Narpa may be very good, yes. But as you said, we need to equip an entire army. One smith cannot possibly do that."
Once we're at the armory, drop off my armor and sword but keep my bags and dagger on me.

Donrick [Smith] 413614

>>413609
"That's good to know then. And now I have to make up for it anyway. What I wanted to show was…"
Raise the hoof of Chell that has the blade, then tap it to slide it out.
"I might be able to make a small spring for a hoofblade like this if you want."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413615

>>413614
"Ah. I see. Hidden blades. I've had some experience with them."

Donrick [Smith] 413617

>>413615
"Want one then?"

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413618

>>413610
"True. A pity there isn't a way to speed up the process, but good smithing requires time and focus…"
After she's dropped things off, I'll ask her a question.
"So, where do you plan to head now? It would be rude of your escort to abandon you in an unfamiliar castle, so I will endeavor to lead you where you wish to go."

Liviana [Templar] 413619

>>413618
"I should go back to Donrick. Maybe play a bit of the lyre while we wait for the High King to be ready to receive us again."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413621

>>413619
"Then I shall escort you there."
And then there we go. After she's safely left with Donrick, I'll head up to the King's chamber.

Liviana [Templar] 413623

>>413621
"Thank you, Crescent. You're very kind."

>>413617
"Hello there."

Donrick [Smith] 413625

>>413623
Smile at her as she enters.
"Had a nice bath?"

DM 413627

>>413621
"Crescent.
You seem to have left out guest somewhere?"

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413629

>>413627
"She had requested to speak with master Donrick before coming to meet you. Tell, me, my king, did you manage to catch her mark while focusing on her flank so intently?"

Liviana [Templar] 413630

>>413625
"It was nice. The king's suite is very nice."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413631

>>413617
"Well, if it can be properly concealed, sure."
>>413623
Then I'll look at her walk in and immediatly turn around.
"Eh-ehm."
Clear my throat.

Donrick [Smith] 413632

>>413630
"This one will do fine for me. Nothing fancy."

Donrick [Smith] 413633

>>413631
"I might be able to work something right now, even.
Chell, my tools please. Make sure to get the springs."

Liviana [Templar] 413634

>>413631
I smile and nod at him.
"Hello again."

>>413632
"I don't plan on staying in his suite either."
I chuckle
"But still, very tasteful. I liked it."

DM 413635

>>413629
"…not really, no.
Was it of particular interest?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413636

>>413633
>>413634
No, guys, turn around means turn around. As in, look at the other side.
"Don't you… Wear anything?"

DM 413637

>>413633
"Yes-creator-at-once"
She goes rummage through your bags

Donrick [Smith] 413638

>>413634
"Will have to cut back on luxuries, won't we?"
Chuckle.
"You won't mind if I craft a little something in the meantime, do you?"

>>413636
"Chainmail? Inside? Why would I?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413639

>>413638
"Clothes. Wool. Linen. Rags. Anything!"

Liviana [Templar] 413641

>>413636
>>413638
"Oh! Right! Donrick, it seems the Northlanders are unused to walking around without clothing even while it's warm."

>>413639
"Sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable. I'll put something on if it bothers you."
I open my bags and take out my white robes, putting them on.

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413642

>>413635
"A black crown. I am not certain that lady Liviana is a maker or wearer of crowns, but I think it might be worth investigating while we have the freedom to do so. I hardly think she and her companion are common ambassadors."
I'll think a moment.
"Also, on the way to the armory we had a small chat on her homeland. Apparently dragon-smelted steel has quite a few properties thanks to their refining and forging process that would be beneficial to our weaponry. Namely, they don't rust, don't break, and can withstand extreme temperature."

Donrick [Smith] 413646

>>413639
"Wh-"

>>413641
"Oh, I see.
Chell, get my smithing apron too!"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413649

>>413641
"Thank you."
Once she signals the all clear, I will turn around.
"It's just… Strange. Sorry to impose so much."
>>413646
"Thank you for your assistance. I might just leave you two alone right now, so you can talk."

DM 413650

>>413646
"Yes-creator-here-is-everything"
She brings tools, materials and an apron
>>413642
"Interesting fact on the weapons. I need to ensure all those in Ironfoe who need to know, know.
…a black crown… hmm…
…could it be…"

Donrick [Smith] 413651

>>413649
"Don't you want to wait for it? It will be ready right away."

>>413650
Dress up in that apron and spread out the tools I'll need, springs, lithe metal frames and of course the dagger.

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413652

>>413650
"Someone you know of, King Frostmourn?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413653

>>413651
"I wouldn't want to impose on you two so much."

Liviana [Templar] 413654

>>413649
"No no, we are the ones who should be sorry. I was just unaware before."

>>413653
I wave a hoof
"Don't worry about that. We enjoy socializing more than anything."

Donrick [Smith] 413655

>>413653
"We are here to make connections, aren't we?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413657

>>413654
"Well in that case.
It just, kind of caught me off guard.
Obviously I'd have no problems with such a beauty walking around the palace."
Smile slightly.
>>413655
"Indeed. But in the end I'm just a nobody."

Donrick [Smith] 413659

>>413657
"And what would that make me?"
Roll my eyes.
"Cut that out."

Liviana [Templar] 413661

>>413657
I chuckle
"You give me far too much credit."
I take out my lyre
"Do you mind if I practice while we talk?"

DM 413662

>>413652
"No, just a hunch is all. Trying to put two and two together.
Dragon-assisted forging… that really is quite a thought…"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413664

>>413659
"A talented craftspony?"
Chuckle a bit.
>>413661
Sit somewhere.
"Please do. I always loved music. Sadly, there is only one song I know."

Donrick [Smith] 413665

>>413661
Smile at her.
"I was about to ask that you do."

Now, let's get to work.
Gadget on Backstab for Pumpkin.

413668

>>413664
"Here's hoping the cold didn't affect the instrument too much…"
Settle down and play a soft, relaxing tune

Roll #1 6 = 6

DM 413669

>>413665
This should do well…
Hm… actually… adding a coil spring here along with a hinge will make it able to twist this way as well instead of breaking… that might come in… handy.
+1 to Backstab.
Can survive one noncritical failure at Backstabbing before it breaks.

DM 413672

>>413668
Here's to you, beloved warm winds of the south
May your caress one day reach up here
And kiss those who miss you so dearly

Donrick [Smith] 413673

>>413669
Hold it up.
"This should do it.
It's not meant to last, but it can give you a good advantage at least once. More if you are careful with it, but the frame has to be lithe and the springs must be small."

Liviana [Templar] 413674

>>413672
I close my eyes and lose myself to the tune

Donrick [Smith] 413677

>>413672
Perk my remaining ear to listen better.

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413678

>>413662
"If Mastersmith Narpa had a pet dragon to fire his forge, just imagine what he could do with it. Gives me the shivers… Even just hearing about the metal made my desire to smith again bubble up, despite my complete ineptitude at the craft…"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413679

>>413668
>>413672
I'll open my mouth as to say something, but think better of it, and wait for her to be done.
>>413673
"Ah! Sounds just about perfect."
Made the blade run in and out a few times, carefully.

Donrick [Smith] 413680

>>413679
"I can try and make another if you break it."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413681

>>413680
"Would you believe me if I said I'd rather never have to use it?"
Smile sadly as I watch the blade.

Liviana [Templar] 413682

>>413681
I open my eyes and look at him
"Your uniform… what does it represent?"

DM 413683

>>413678
"We… do have a dragon…"

Donrick [Smith] 413684

>>413681
"Would you believe me if I said I'm not actually a smith?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413685

>>413682
"Ah, this…
It's all about… Protecting what I love, I guess."
Smile at her, sincerely.
"Lovely music."
>>413684
"At this point? I'd call you more than a smith. You breath life into golems. That's more than any smith I've ever seen."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413686

>>413683
"We do?"

DM 413687

>>413686
"Well let's not mince words.
I do."

Donrick [Smith] 413688

>>413685
"I only ever made Chell."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413689

>>413687
"And it's one you'd consider putting to work once we discover the refinement methods necessary to make their Draken steel, should trade relations not present themselves?"

DM 413690

>>413689
"I'd need to wake it up again, first. And see if it can still breathe anything. It did melt a mile of stone when it was still breathing…"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413691

>>413688
"And she looks remarkable enough to warrant books and books about her."

Liviana [Templar] 413692

>>413685
I nod
"The lyre is quite popular in Trotantium. It can make for some lovely relaxing tunes."
I give his uniform one last lookover, then stand up and put away the lyre.

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413693

>>413690
I'll be a bit uncertain of that.
"That… sounds more like a siege weapon than a smith's aide, King Frostmourn. Perhaps the Trotantine dragons are smaller?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413694

>>413692
"Wait."
Extend a hoof towards the lyre.
"Might I?"

Donrick [Smith] 413695

>>413692
"Done already?"

>>413691
"Believe it or not, she is still being upgraded on the go.
Not yet finished."

Liviana [Templar] 413696

>>413694
I nod and reach over to hoof it to him

>>413695
"I'll play more… later."

Donrick [Smith] 413697

>>413696
Nod.
"Right. Always so nice to hear you play."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413698

>>413695
"Big plans?"
>>413696
Ah.
Take that lyre.
Pinch it slightly.
"You were curious about the uniform.
See, there is this one tune I know…"
Yeah, but I will just hum it
'1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

DM 413699

>>413693
"This is the only dragon I ever met. It was always a little on the odd side, with the living underground and being possessed with whatever the hell that thing inside it was."
>>413698
The Shadow Song is more than a little depressing for this mood.

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413701

>>413698
"Ah… I'm sorry. Not used to playing an instrument yet. And really, I've never been good at singing, either."
>>413699
I know. But she asked. I had to show her.

Donrick [Smith] 413702

>>413698
"Nothing grand."

>>413699
I frown sightly and sigh.

Liviana [Templar] 413703

>>413698
"It sounds… somewhat sad… melancholic even…"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413704

>>413703
Nod slowly, and hoof her over the lyre.
"I'm sorry for my terrible performance. But seems like you can only really do justice to this song when your heart really can't take it anymore."

Donrick [Smith] 413707

>>413704
"Sounds somewhat familar of a feeling."

Liviana [Templar] 413709

>>413704
I take the lyre and put it inside my bags again
"Well… that's a shame. Maybe I can teach you how to play the lyre if there is time and you want to."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413710

>>413699
"Perhaps a larger scale entity similar to the one that popped out of Ebonreth? As I wasn't there for your battle against the Underdragon, I can't rightly compare."
I'll think a moment.
"So, if I may ask, what are your thoughts on the two?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413712

>>413707
"Does it? I had hoped it wouldn't…"
>>413709
"It'd be my honor."

DM 413714

>>413710
"Most curious couple.
The smith is clearly very skilled… if hard to look at.
The sister… well. A warrior, scholar and political emissary. Quite a package."

Liviana [Templar] 413715

>>413712
"I'd be very glad to."
Look outside, what time is it?

Donrick [Smith] 413718

>>413712
Wave my hoof around.
"Nevermind…"

Back to Chell.
Open her hatch again.
Can I figure out a way how to build a clock inside her with the turning gears counting the time so she would always know what time it is?
'1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413719

>>413714
"We two should know above all not to judge by appearances, King Frostmourn, even if others do."
I'll think for a moment.
"Quite the package indeed, though. You had begun to stare again near the end of it…"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413723

>>413715
>>413718
Stand up.
"You two must be starving."

DM 413725

>>413715
Evening.
Sundown in a while.
>>413718
Oh easily.
She was built to have a default rewind cycle around midnight unless overridden. Just put a clock hand on it.
>>413719
"…I did… yes…
What of it?"

Donrick [Smith] 413726

>>413725
I have my tools right there, do so.
Close her again.
"Chell, can you tell the exact time?"

>>413723
"I am somewhat hungry, yes."

Liviana [Templar] 413727

>>413723
"We could use a meal yes…"

>>413725
"… But first, I must pray. Outside."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413728

>>413727
"I… Know of a place actually. To the setting sun, yes?"

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413729

>>413725
"While I don't mean to presume, your majesty, I doubt Queen Sunrise would take kindly to ogling ambassadors, even if nopony told her of it. Actions form habits, after all."
I'll bow slightly.
"But she will not learn it from me, of course, as you've sworn me to silence."

DM 413731

>>413726
"It is seven hours past noon."
>>413729
"Good.
And it is good to see you have your wits about with such things.
Thank you."

Liviana [Templar] 413732

>>413728
"Just to the Sun."

Donrick [Smith] 413733

>>413727
"The room has a balcony."
Point where we went out earlier.

>>413731
Smile.
"That seems to work."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413736

>>413732
"Would you mind me carrying you for a short while?
I promise, I won't drop you."
Chuckle.

Liviana [Templar] 413737

>>413736
"Carrying me? I can walk myself…"

Donrick [Smith] 413739

>>413736
Raise an eyebrow and turn to look his way.

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413741

>>413731
"There is no death more foolish than one given by a jealous lover, your majesty."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413743

>>413737
"No, you see…"
Walk over to the balcony and point at the nearby cliff overlooking the castle where me and Radiant used to pray.
"I do know for a fact that is the one place where the sun shines the most, in Wintergrasp."

Liviana [Templar] 413746

>>413743
I tap a hoof against my chin
"Tell you what… we'll go there tomorrow. Today I'll make do with the balcony, seeing how little time there is left. Deal?"

Donrick [Smith] 413748

>>413746
"And you'll go there on hoof tomorrow, right?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413749

>>413746
Nod slowly.
"Absolutely. Then, if you don't mind, I have a place to visit before sundown."
Walk over to the edge of the balcony.

413752

>>413748
"… Yes?"

>>413749
"Of course. Good day to you, Pumpkin."
I then walk over to the balcony to PRAISE THE SUN

Roll #1 6 = 6

DM 413754

>>413741
"I'd never.
But she has… made me consider a few things."

Donrick [Smith] 413755

>>413752
Wait for her to return before speaking.

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413758

>>413752
Nod at her.
>>413755
"See you at dinner, Donrick."
>>413754
Fly away. There is one place I have to visit.
Those tiny little graves.

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413760

>>413754
"Well, I can hardly fault you for that, your majesty. Walking about naked as a jay bird does tend to give stallions ideas."
I'll huff slightly.
"Hopefully she'll be able to adjust, otherwise she might start to be misinterpreted by not only the males of the castle, but also the mares."

DM 413762

>>413758
They haven't exactly gone anywhere.

DM 413765

>>413760
"We should be forgiving of her culture. She is new to our ways and we should not impose on her if possible, do you not agree?"

Liviana [Templar] 413766

>>413755
And then, as the sun finally drops under the horizon, I return inside.
"Shall we?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413769

>>413762
Well gee, I know that. But… Did she at least, you know… Write their names?

Donrick [Smith] 413770

>>413766
I nod.
"Of course."
Think for a moment.
"Though if they are such prudes, going to diner in a filthy apron might tickle their tastes bad too."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413771

>>413765
"True, but misconceptions can arise. I'm not saying that they both should be forced to wear clothing, just… encouraged."

Liviana [Templar] 413773

>>413770
I give a hearty laugh.
"You could wear one of my garments, of course."

Donrick [Smith] 413777

>>413773
I snort amusedly.
"I'm not sure many of them could eat if I showed up that way."

DM 413778

>>413769
She did.
…they are all fruit. A few vegetables too. One was called Butter.
There is also one stone you don't remember. Smaller than the rest. Tucked away in the back.
>>413771
"I shall bring it up with them…"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413781

>>413778
Ah. Guess my prayer can wait a minute or two. Walk over.

Liviana [Templar] 413782

>>413777
I giggle and shake my head
"Oh dearie me… I suppose you could always wear your armor. Or we can ask…"
Any guards around that we could approach?

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413784

>>413778
"And we can, of course, offer them some outfits as a sign of good faith."
I'll hesitate for a moment or two.
"I do hope I am not overstepping my bounds, King Frostmourn."

DM 413785

>>413781
[A bad mother]
While the stone is so small it is almost hard to read, the space it marks is larger than the other graves…

DM 413787

>>413784
"You are not.
At least you remain grounded. I will admit my mind wanders. I cannot help but think of the myriad of possibilities…"

Liviana [Templar] 413790

DM 413791

>>413782
There are some in the hallway.

Donrick [Smith] 413793

>>413782
"You may have noticed they are ponies.
You may have also noticed I am not.
"

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413794

>>413787
"The number of them that I'm aware of boggle the mind already, my king. I cannot begin to fathom the ones that lay before you."

Liviana [Templar] 413797

>>413791
"Esteemed guard, my companion seems to have misplaced his clothing. Is it entirely if at all possible to acquire clothing he could borrow for the time being? He's a donkey."

>>413793
"I'm sure there will be some kind of fitting clothing!"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413798

>>413785
Yes. I was expecting this.
I am a terrible pony.
The worst of the worst.
Curl up in a ball over it.
Grasp at the dirt under me, feel it. Try to find some warmth in it.
She was hurt and I just pushed in deeper.
Please. Let me cry.

Donrick [Smith] 413803

>>413797
"I can just spare the fuss and wear my armor for today."

DM 413806

>>413797
"A donkey?
…do they require special clothing then?"

Liviana [Templar] 413808

>>413806

"Well, their legs are different."

DM 413810

>>413802
Let it all out, Northblade.
You were indeed her worst nightmare.
Or at the very least, the harbinger of her worst nightmare.
>>413808
"Huh.
Well I'll see what I can manage."
He leaves, and soon returns with a warm robe
"Think this might do?"

Donrick [Smith] 413811

>>413806
"Unless you want me to look like a Saddle Arabian in baggy pants."

Liviana [Templar] 413812

>>413810
"This will do, thank you so much."
I smile and hoof it over to Donrick.

Donrick [Smith] 413815

>>413812
Smile at her.
"Thank you."
Drop the apron, put on the robe, have Chell take the apron back to the room then come back.

DM 413816

>>413812
"Good, was that a-"
>>413811
"GAH!"

Donrick [Smith] 413817

Liviana [Templar] 413821

>>413816
I frown at this
"Very professional."

DM 413823

>>413817
>>413821
"Do you need a doctor or… something?"

Donrick [Smith] 413827

"Yes. Need a doctor. He should check where you left your brain."

DM 413828

>>413794
"She reminds me of many things in my past. I'm not sure what to make of that.
And she may well change many things in my future. I'm not sure what to make of that either…"
>>413827
"Sorry. I thought…
…sorry…"

413830

>>413810
Clear my eyes and take a dagger out.
With it, chip away the [bad] engraving from the tombstone.
There is no such thing as a bad mother.
At least, I hope not.
Lie against the stone and look at the sun set and the moon rise.
And just wait for a while.

Roll #1 3 = 3

Liviana [Templar] 413832

"No. Now if you please… could you see if the High King is available?"

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413835

>>413828
"Well, the past cannot be helped, my king, but the future is what you can make of it. Just make sure that any influence she might have on your future is a positive one."

Donrick [Smith] 413836

>>413828
"Nevermind."

DM 413842

"Right away."
He leaves

A guard arrives
"The guests wish to see you, my liege."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413845

>>413842
I'll bow slightly to Frostmourn.
"I take it that that is my cue to depart, King Frostmourn. Unless there is anything else I can do for you at the moment?"

Liviana [Templar] 413848

>>413842
And we wait.

413850

DM 413855

>>413845
"This should be all for now."
>>413848

The king returns.
"I see you've gotten some indoor clothing?"

I'll bow, and then take my leave, nodding to the two Southerners as I go.

Donrick [Smith] 413859

Nod.
"Even if we find it stange."

Liviana [Templar] 413860

>>413855
"Yes, Pumpkin felt uncomfortable and we did not want to impose."

>>413852
"I'd rather have the weather be more like home, to be fair."

>>413858
"You're leaving us?"

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413862

>>413860
"It would be rude to intrude, lady Liviana. Matters of state are not usually for a guard's ears."

Liviana [Templar] 413864

>>413862
I chuckle
"We aren't going to be sharing our plans for world domination quite yet."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413866

>>413864
"Then I shall remain."
And I'll just take up a spot near the door.

DM 413871

Just some bones and dust left in here.
Nobody has cared in a long, long time.

Wouldn't want to scare anyone."

Bones. Perfect. Grab one, however small.
Actually, grab the smallest.

I need a necromancer.
The question is, do I need a friend or do I need a mother right now?

Donrick [Smith] 413878

>>413876
"Would it be ironic to say that I have thicker skin than that. It did remind me of home."

DM 413879

"I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive the offender."

kilana [deathsinger] 413880

Donrick [Smith] 413881

"Think nothing of it."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413882

I guess I need a friend.
Drop on her. Full batman style.
"Hey."

Liviana [Templar] 413883

>>413876
"Of course. Thank you so much!"
I look at Donrick

Donrick [Smith] 413884

>>413883
I nod as well.
"I'm fine with right away."

kilana [deathsinger] 413885

>>413882
I smile at you. "Hey there."

DM 413886

>>413881
"You are a kind soul."
>>413883
>>413884
"Shall I have it delivered here, or?"

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413887

>>413885
Drop the bone in front of her, without a smile.
"I need a favor."

Liviana [Templar] 413888

>>413886
"Whichever way you prefer, your highness."

Donrick [Smith] 413889

>>413886
"Wherever you usually dine."

kilana [deathsinger] 413890

"Work related?" I reply calmly

DM 413891

Donrick [Smith] 413892

"Food is food wherever you eat it."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413893

>>413890
"No. I killed somepony. Indirectly. She maybe deserved it, maybe didn't, doesn't matter."
Flip down and sit.
"This is-"
Take out my knives. The real ones.
"-Medve. He is… He was the first one I ever thought of as a brother."

>>413892
"I don't judge, one way or the other. I know many gryphons.
Still, vegetarian is what I grew up with. I am used to it, and indeed prefer it."
He flags down a guards and requests some food be sent up

Liviana [Templar] 413897

>>413896
"We heard there is a gryphon kingdom, yes. Gryphons are held in high regard down in Trotantium as well."

Donrick [Smith] 413898

>>413896

413899

Medve 413903

Can I even yawn like this?
"Pumpkin, my dear friend? Is that you?"

Liviana [Templar] 413904

"Glad to see you still know my voice."

"I've heard from others that it feels strange." I say gently "not having a body to move."

DM 413910

>>413902
>>413904
The food, wine and beer is soon brought up. A minor feast, spanning the culinary breadth of the North.
"Thank you. This will be all."
The servants leave, and Frostmourn gets up, looking over both of you
"Consider this a sample of our hospitality and wealth of culture."
He takes off his crown
"Perhaps I should share in your culture in turn as well, then."

Medve 413911

>>413908
"I rested long enough, I-"

>>413909
It takes a moment.
"Oh… hmm… that must be it."

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 413912

>>413910
Should I be there with them?

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413913

>>413911
"Yeah. I just… I did something horrible, Medve. I had to talk with you."

Liviana [Templar] 413914

>>413910
"I'm pleased you see things that way."
I look at Donrick
"We'll admit we were somewhat… worried that you would not take well to foreigners."

>>413912
You can be, certainly. The more the merrier.

Donrick [Smith] 413915

>>413910
"Ask away. We do not mind talking over food."

>>413914
"Something like that."

Medve 413916

>>413913
"Pumpkin, I am sure it couldn't be that bad. And you can always talk to me freely. I'm afraid I can't put a paw over your shoulder this time, but I am here."

DM 413917

>>413912
Are you hungry?
>>413914
"Please."
The bolts on his armour unscrew and he steps out, the armour standing aside.
"If I did, I would not try to unite them together as my friends and allies."

Donrick [Smith] 413918

>>413917
Okay, take a look at the armour, not him as he does.

Liviana [Templar] 413919

>>413917
Does this mean we can see his bare flank?
"We are extra foreign, aren't we?"
I chuckle
"Even more foreign than Equestrians."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413920

>>413916
Smile a bit, and try not to tear up.
"I know friends, it's okay."
Take a deep breath.
"After you died… I took a oath with Frosty. I became… Something else. Something who isn't me anymore.
Because I wanted to help them all. Nylis, Verne, Anita. Them all.
And then I never killed anyone. Not with my own hooves.
Until… A few days ago."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413921

>>413917
I'll shuffle a little uncomfortably.
Does… does he mean for me to get out of my armor as well?

Medve 413922

>>413920
I can't frown without a body, but I will listen.
"Go on… Was it to protect them? Your friends? Our friends?"

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 413923

>>413917
Venus is, too.

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413924

>>413922
"You know I came from an orphanage, don't you?"

DM 413925

>>413918
Mostly a hollow statue. The interior is padded, and the only visible mechanisms are in the joints.
>>413919
He keeps his artificial leg towards you, the way he stands.
"Perhaps.
But some time together will help narrow that gap."
>>413923
Welcome in.
>>413921
Up to you.

Medve 413926

>>413924
"You told me, yes.
Then again, I grew up among you.
Even if I couldn't really speak with you for the longest time, you were my family."
Now I would smile if I could.
"It was not a really bear life, but I have no regrets."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413927

>>413925
It might be rude, but… someone has to keep their pants on.

Donrick [Smith] 413928

>>413925
Any more details I can notice about that armor of his?

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413929

>>413926
"You were a brother to me too, Medve."
Smile.
"But… The orphanage. It burnt to the ground.
And I went to the matron, who had survived. Showed her all the dead kids…
And I didn't say a word. Didn't judge her.
Didn't try to help her.
And she killed herself…"
Curl up on the ground and start crying.

Liviana [Templar] 413930

>>413925
"Very true."
Look over the food and see what they served us.
I'm guessing I should just ditch the robes as well. At least I wont get spills that way.

Donrick [Smith] 413931

>>413930
I glance at her, but keep the clothes I got on.
Some ponies are trying to eat here, after all.

Medve 413932

>>413929
I can't exactly pat you on the back…
"Pumpkin… there there… it must have been hard on you already.
Don't make it harder on yourself. I am sorry."

kilana [deathsinger] 413933

>>413929
I hug you. "pumpkin.."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413934

>>413932
"Medve I… I should have stopped her!"
>>413933
Ah. Hug.
'1d10+2'
Please, be good.
Please.

Roll #1 9 + 2 = 11

DM 413936

>>413928
The design is clearly built as a statue first, and converted from there.
It powers down as he exits, and has plugs that connect to his leg. It must have no power source, and instead draws off him somehow.
>>413930
The High King gives a faint smile as you disrobe.
The food is a rather broad selection, from deep fried vegetables to salads, risottos and cakes, layered arrangements of fruit, soups and even a pumpkin filled with fried vegetables floating in broth.

Medve 413938

>>413934
"Yes, you should have, but the past is behind us now. You cannot change that, you can only wish she found peace."

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 413939

>>413930
>>413936
"Wintergrasp, our home, is known for its lush farms that prevailed even in the North's cold. Please, help yourselves."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413941

>>413938
Stay silent for a moment.
"Did you?"

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413942

>>413936
Well, I can at least eat something. Once everyone's gotten their plate, I'll take a small helping of salad topped with fried vegetables.
I'm so glad that smith gave the jawplate a hinge.

Donrick [Smith] 413944

>>413936
>>413939
Let's dig in then.
Hopefully ponies can eat in my presence

Liviana [Templar] 413945

>>413931
Interesting…
I'll start with some soup.

>>413939
"Yes, we did hear about Wintergrasp's role in the North."

>>413942
I cock my head at that
"Wouldn't it be easier to just… take that helmet off?"

DM 413946

>>413944
It's only polite.
Not like Frostmourn is looking at you

Medve 413947

>>413941
"I had a good life.
Good friends.
Good times."

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 413949

>>413944
It could be worse. help yourself.

Donrick [Smith] 413951

>>413946
Do I notice where he is looking?
'1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413952

>>413945
"It… would, however I am on duty."
They'll buy that, right? Right. And the king's eyes are wandering again. I know she's exotic, but come on. It's been less than a day.

Donrick [Smith] 413955

>>413952
"I thought we were friends here.
Or hoped to become those."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413956

>>413947
"Okay… Thanks for everything, brother."
Wipe away the tears and let go of Kilana.
"I will see you next time I make a huge mistake, what you say?"
Chuckle a bit.

DM 413957

>>413951
There is delicious food here to look at.

Medve 413959

>>413956
"I can't say I mind sleeping, just like a long winter.
If you ever need me, I will be here, brother.
Maybe we could wrestle again someday too!"
Chuckle along.

Donrick [Smith] 413960

>>413957
Consume delish food then.

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 413962

>>413946
Try to indicate to Frostmourn silently to watch his dressings.

Serve Venus some food.

Liviana [Templar] 413963

>>413952
"Oh… Well, I suppose…"
Maybe another cultural thing?

>>413960
I do the same

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413964

>>413955
I'll sweat a little under the armor.
"I had meant no disrespect. Though it nothing quite like your unfortunate condition, master Donrick, I am… less than proud of my appearance."
I'll think for a moment. Would they really care about a pink stallion with a mare's face?
>>413963
"My apologies. Perhaps some day in the future."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413966

>>413959
"One day. Keep a field ready for us. I'm coming to you. Soon."
And with a smile, I'll tell Kilana to drop the connection.

DM 413967

>>413963
"He is a little sensitive about the issue."
>>413962
Venus hives you a thankful smile
Frostmourn glances at you and raises a brow
>>413960
It really is quite good.

kilana [deathsinger] 413968

>>413934
'1d10+2' popular hugs are the best
>>413956
>>413959
I smile at you both "reuniting bros, how can I say no? "

Roll #1 10 + 2 = 12

Liviana [Templar] 413969

>>413967
I look over at Venus
"I don't think I've seen you before…"

kilana [deathsinger] 413970

>>413966
I nod – commune ends–

Donrick [Smith] 413971

>>413964
"And a fancy helmet will change that?
That's what all those ill spirited ones want, to cover up. You let them win?"
I snort.
"I sure don't."

>>413967
Try everything.
How's the beer?

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413973

>>413968
>>413970
Wipe one last tear.
"Thanks Kila. I'm… Sorry you had to see and hear this."

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413977

>>413971
I'll smile slightly for a moment.
"For a second, you sounded much like the Paladin who traveled with the King for some time. She too accused me of simply hiding and letting them win."

DM 413978

>>413969
"I am Venus Wings, personal guard of Verne.
Glad to meet you, miss…?"
>>413971
Could be better to be honest. This is a wine country.

Verne Foglight [Advisor] 413982

>>413967
Ah, I didn't account to come up with a silent comms system between us.

Just motion to carry on.

Donrick [Smith] 413984

>>413978
Eh.
At least it's not warm beer.
Right?

>>413977
"I mean I was demanded to cover my face in court.
They soon learned that convincing a donkey to do something he doesn't want to is more bother than they wanted to deal with."

>>413978
Nod my head to her.
"Donrick, son of Donovan, Smith of the court."

Liviana [Templar] 413986

>>413978
"Sister Liviana, pleased to meet you."
I nod my head at her with a smile

>>413984
I chuckle
"That was quite something…"

DM 413989

>>413984
No, just a bit flat.
>>413982
He shrugs and returns to his food
>>413986
>>413984
"Glad to meet you both. I take it you are foreign?"

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413990

>>413984
"Ah. That's… very unprofessional, if you think about it."
I'll just chew on my salad for a bit.

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 413991

>>413989
Check myself. Am I presentable?

>>413990
"My profession is not face-up-coverer.
Except when I make helmets."

Your mane is a mess
Your eyes are red
You are shaking and sobbing
>>413995
>>413992
"Mhm…"

kilana [deathsinger] 413997

>>413973
I frown "don't be sorry. Merve isn't the only one who's here for you "

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 413998

>>413992
"No no, I meant on their part. So long as you're good at your job, they should be able to look past certain things."
I'll think a moment.
"And if you work Draken steel half as well as you built your golem, then they shouldn't have had any grounds for complaint."

Liviana [Templar] 413999

>>413998
"You no doubt know how some nobles can be. Give a pony a little bit of power and they start falling in all kinds of love with themselves."

Donrick [Smith] 414000

>>413998
Shrug.
"Fancy pants uppity nobles. I guess I didn't match the drapes."

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 414001

>>413996
And I'm late for the prom my dinner.
>>413997
"All this… Hit me really hard."
Sigh.
"You know, we have new guests. From the far south.
I should be having dinner with them right now…"

Waxing Crescent [M Uni Dark Knight] 414003

>>413999
>>414000
"True enough."

Imminent Domain [Mastermind] 414006

What's going on? We still in the future?

DM 414008

>>414006
Yes.
Yes we are.
Also I need to be up for mothers day in 4 hours.

Liviana [Templar] 414013

>>414008
As do I…
"Your highness, I was wondering… Wintegrasp is your imperial seat, correct?"

Imminent Domain [Mastermind] 414018

>>414008
Are my services requested to meet the guests?

Or maybe I should go find out if Kilana did anything about Naik…

kilana [deathsinger] 414028

>>414001
"Oh, well you can use my bathroom to get ready. And talk to me if you need to." I smile "
Alright. "

Pumpkin Swansong [Northblade] 414029

>>414028
"I will… Try to."
Sigh and rush into Kila's bathroom, take the fastest shower I can.

You need a second pair of hooves to wash away these stains of time… Maybe you could call for Kilana…
>>414018
There she is… >>414028 but who is in the shower?
>>414013
"For the time being. It is where I was born, and where I feel most at home.
After the war in Timberjaw is over, I will seek their aid in building me a new royal capital. One that will will be embellished with the collected riches of wealth and culture of all the Northlands.
And I shall call it Northscrown."
