Diamond Dog Fortress Campfire 382658[Last 50 Posts]

Things are finally starting to go well for this fortress. The miners have had no serious accidents and continue to uncover gems to carve and ore that can be separated into silver and copper. Crafters of various kinds churn out goods to sell to traders as other workers create things for use by the citizens off the fortress. The farmers harvest all sorts of pleasant crops from the subterranean farms and wonder what sorts of things the surface farms will produce. The fortress's doctor trains his slaves to aid him, having all but given up on finding competent help among the other dogs in the fortress. Some of the pups born years ago are now old enough to run around on their own, away from the supervision of their parents.

Everyone but Lorik, start play however you would like.

Lorik, you wake up strapped to a bed in the hospital.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 382659

Wake up!

Koka [Monk] 382660

Bakin' n' wakin'.
Did I have time to give Cook any good lessons?

Roll #1 2 + 1 = 3 / Roll #2 8 = 8

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 382661

Those idiots.

Clearly that incompetent fool of a doctor distracted me and caused me to miscast!

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 382662

Wake up from my bed.

Slave update. How's we doin'?

Roll #1 9 = 9 / Roll #2 8 = 8

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 382664

I suppose I wake up and go grab some breakfast.
Is it any good?
And how are my assistants doing?

Roll #1 5 = 5

Campfire 382665

You wake up. Roll to see if you can remember what you are supposed to do.

All your good stuff was lost during the shipwreck, the only stuff you have is the less-than-good stuff. You give Coook some pointers while walking to the kitchen.

the donkey pokes his head into your room then leaves when he sees you are awake.

You wake up still cuddling the slave against your chest. You can feel her steady breathing as she continues to sleep.

The female gryphon keeps getting better and better and her works look almost good enough to present to traders now. The male gryphon has had plenty of vermin to hunt and is quickly becoming a benefit to the fortress.

It's a cold brain, kidney, and tallow pie. Could be worse. Bowing to them seems to have caused them to regress quite a bit.

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 382666

I growl but stay put, I guess.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 382667

At least I'm sure I got a good rest after all that travel

Roll #1 3 = 3

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 382668

I'm up. And having spent the night cleaning my shop, it should be spick and span.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 382669

I frown and only eat half of the pie.
"I suppose we should get to work now…"
I sigh and return to my forge to make some armor, with my assistants helping. 2 breastplates for now.

Roll #1 4 = 4

Koka [Monk] 382670

But Ah dun like less-than-good stuff!
How's it works 'round here? Who Ah gotta ask ta git sum good stuff?
Ah need a prettier dogtag.
"So. Watch, would ya?"
Make breakfast for 80.

Roll #1 2 + 1 = 3

I'm almost proud of them.

Now, what about the milita? How are they doing?

Roll #1 7 = 7

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 382672

Shake and wake the pony up by squeezing her flank.
"Does pony want to sleep more or will pony make light breakfast for both of us. Bark need to let arm rechecked at healers before work."

Campfire 382680

A few minutes later the Doctor enters the room and crosses his arms across his chest.
"Took you long enough to wake up. Will you leave my hospital peacefully to do I need to call some brusers from the barracks?"

The only thing you can remember is that your zebra is good at remembering.

It is sparkling clean.

"Yes, Master."
They are a bit clumsy and mess you up as you try to hammer the metal into shape. The finished breastplates do not look very good.

You burn the food you were trying to cook to a crisp.

They are also doing well. The archer in the group is digging some improvements for the archery range.

She yawns as she wakes up and rubs the sleep out of her eyes.
"I will fetch us breakfast, Master. Does the Master want anything in particular?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 382682

Is she awake? If not, poke her sides a few times with a finger.

Koka [Monk] 382684

Frown and Try again.
"Help me out, will ya?"
Can slaves ever progress in skill level?

Roll #1 10 + 1 = 11

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 382686

"I work here. I was put in charge."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 382689

"Plain soup and bread. Nothing fancy for Bark. If no soup, then something to make bread tasty."
With that I stand up and test out my arm, is it still not functioning. If not I might go to the healer and have it checked up again.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 382695

Good. Now I need to think up exercises to teach Gem about delicacy, and controlling her strength. If only there was some talc floating around somewhere.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 382698

Can I at least try to fix them?

Roll #1 8 = 8

Excellent. I suppose I'll pass the time by crafting some spear shafts.

Roll #1 5 = 5

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 382708

Hmm. Maybe there's some… time to rummage. '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

Campfire 382841

She stretches and opens her eyes, but stays on the floor.
"Good morning, Master. What will I be doing for you today."

"Yes, Mistr-"
Before he can finish speaking you have thrown together several roasts and placed them into different ovens.

He growls at you.
"You would have killed the fortress's first patient if it hadn't been for me. I was able to save him from your touch, but he will be crippled for the rest of his life now. If you agree to get out of my hospital, and never come back, I won't tell the Alpha what you did."

"Yes, Master."
She bows and leaves your room. Your arm is still hanging limply so you go to the hospital. A unicorn stallion meets you out front.
"Hello, sir. The doctor is having a talk with the magical healer right now. Can you wait?"

No time, you've got a lot of things that need carving and decorating.

You tell a few jokes and get a couple of small smiles, but they disappear quickly.

The shafts are a bit rough and splintery, but diamond dogs have paws tough enough to take a few splinters.

Crunch [Knight] 382858

Far from my best work, but if a few slivers are all they have to worry about, then they can suck it up.

Let's go take a look at the outer edges of the fortress. Are there any places that might look good for anti-siege emplacements?

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 382859

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 382860

I meant the breastplates! But that works too I guess.
If just simple jokes won't work, then maybe positive reinforcement will again.
Using the two breastplates I made, I attempt to show them how to modify something after it's been forged. In this case, improve them so that they can actually fit a dog.

Roll #1 1 = 1

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 382861

I look at my dangling arm.
"Bark can wait, yes. Can healer heal this?" I show my limping arm.

"Bark dont feel a thing, it dangles and dont obey Bark's command." I frown and lower my ear.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 382869

I'll grumble a bit. This was easier with an assistant. And without those stab wounds in the back.
I'll carve a few gems, then remember I need to eat. '1d10+4'

Roll #1 5 + 4 = 9

Campfire 382908

There are a few differently colored flags sticking out of ground or hanging from trees. It seems like there is some disagreement among the masons as to where where walls and gates should be placed, as well as where additional things like watchtowers should go.

She smiles up at you.
"But of course, Master. Do you have anything you wish me to remember now or are you ready to start the day, Master?"

You try to show them how to fix it, but end up destroying the breastplates while giving your demonstration. The slaves whimper and apologize for messing you up while the breastplates were being made.

"Maybe. You would need to talk to the healer for that, sir."

Your carve up a bunch of gems then go to the dining hall. The room only has a few dogs in it, and you can see the glassmaker sitting by himself.

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 382915

"Okay." I nod at the servant and sit on a chair.

"Tell Bark when it is turn to heal arm of his." I then wait patiently.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 382917

Good. Grab something to eat, and then go over to the Glassmaker.
"Ho, glassmaker. How's business?"

Crunch [Knight] 382918

Examine the flags. Can I get a general idea over what they're disagreeing about?

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 382929

I frown and sigh.
"It's very much alright… it's my mistake."
I set them aside to be melted down into new ingots while I begin hammering away two new ones with their assistance.

Roll #1 8 = 8

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 382930

I think for a bit.
"What do?"

Koka [Monk] 382949

"C'mon. Go on.
Show me what you… Feel."
Smile at him.

Campfire 383015

"Yes, sir."
The unicorn sits in a chair behind the waiting room's desk.

He looks a little surprised when he sees you.
"How are you doing, Pom? I've not seen you for a while. Anyways, business is going great. I was able to strike a deal with the dogs running to ashery and kiln so now I have a steady supply of pearlash. Now that I have pearlash the glass I'm making looks even better."
He raises his mug, which you notice is made of clear glass instead of the more common green kind.

The difference in colors seems to be in order to show which flags belong to which dog. It looks like they are disagreeing over where to build the walls and gates, and whether or not there should be watchtowers. You are not a trained mason, so there are probably things you are missing here.

The breastplates turn out fine this time. The slaves do not smile, and instead silently begin preparing for the next thing to be made.

She stands up and stretches again.
"Welllllll, Master. The first thing we should do is get breakfast. Don't you agree, Master?"

He looks a little confused, but gets too work trying to make some food.
+1 from lesson
+3 from demonstration
-3 from skill level

Roll #1 2 + 1 = 3

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383017

I nod.
"Food good. Food where? Pony lead!"

Lorik 383018

Where am I needed?

Mending roll here: '1d10+2'

Roll #1 2 + 2 = 4

Crunch [Knight] 383021

Well then I'll go see the masons to ask about this stuff.

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383022

…… look at the pony and hope that I be called.

Campfire 383023

He puts a bruised strawberry on a piece of bread and smile turns to face you.
"Did I do good, Mistress?"

Koka [Monk] 383024

Let's see.
'1d10-2' for taste.

Roll #1 10 - 2 = 8

Koka [Monk] 383026

That's just too good. Gimme a description or something.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383028

I'll nod.
"Fine glass. Gem cutting has been busy as well, especially after that new vein cropped up. Trying to teach my slave to cut properly so we can work through it all, but she seems to have a problem controlling her strength. Ended up with a shard in her eye, so until that's out, she's stuck in the hospital."
I'll grumble a bit.
"Shop's too damn quit without that oaf in it."

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 383046

"See? With your assistance, I was able to properly forge good ones!"
I try to give them a half hearted smile, hoping it will have some effect.

Campfire 383066

"Same place as last time, Master."
She leads you out of your room and into the food prep area. There is a kitchen here with several barrels of food that is either fresh or reheated, and in a room beyond here you can see the large dining hall.

The taste of it blows you away. The strawberry he chose had been sitting out just long enough to reach the peak of its flavor and its consistency to be the perfect mix of firm and juicy. The bread itself has a faint taste of the food it had been stored with. It is also quite fluffy, so as you bite into the meal the juice from the strawberry soaks into the bread instead of spilling down your chin. You are pretty certain that the pony had no idea he was creating a masterpiece.

He winces when he hears what happened to here.
"If you want a replacement there are still a couple of goats. I use one of them every now and then when I go to collect sand."

"We live to serve, Master."
They speak with monotone voices.

Koka [Monk] 383071

Widen my eyes.
"Cook, you be a genius!"
Smile wide and take him up, spinning around in joy.
"Ya know what'ya just did?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 383078

I wince.
"Yes… a- and serve you do very well!"
I try to smile again.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383083

I'll shake my head.
"And start fresh? No, I'll just have to come up with a few exercises to teach her to control her strength once she gets out. And to use her damn horn instead of her hooves. Unicorn magic is supposed to be good at fine movements. I thought she'd be perfect for gem cutting and setting."
Thinking a bit, I'll look back at the glasscutter.
"What are the odds you can make a glass eye, in case she loses hers, that can be fit with gems for the iris?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383086

Sit down at a table.
"Pony bring food!"

Crunch [Knight] 383096

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383097

Campfire 383125

"I-am? thank you, Mistress."
You try to pick him up, but he is about as tall as you are, so all you can do is lift his front end up.
"W-what did I do, Mistress?"

"Thank you, Master."
There is a tiny bit of life in there voices this time.

"A glass eye? That shouldn't be hard enough to make. The gem iris might be tricky, but that would be your part of the job."

"Yes, Master."
She leaves then returns with two mugs and three plates balanced on her back, as well as a plate in her mouth. She sets the plate in her mouth and a mug on her back across from you, them places the two plates and remaining mug in front of you. After that she sits down across from you and starts eating.

You find them all in the mines preparing a new storage area for excess stone.
"The flags? Those are how we mark out where we want walls, gates, watchtowers, moats, tunnels, traps, and other things to be made. Of course, until these idiots realize that I'm ri-"
"Who are you calling an idiot, stonebrains?"
"Watch it, dirtmouth."
"He's right, shithead, all of your ideas are terrible."
They start to growl at each other.

Unless Groves shows up to roll and heal your arm, which I doubt he will, there is nothing for you to do in the hospital. Sorry.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383134

I'll nod.
"Yes. And lately it seems I've had quite the run of bad luck. If she ends up losing the eye, I'll put in an order for several, just in case."

Crunch [Knight] 383135

I bark at them both to defuse the argument.

"Stop this. We need those to defend the fortress. Unless you'd rather wait to finish your feng shui during a raid?"

Koka [Monk] 383136

"Ya made a new recipe! A great one!"
Explain to him the deal with the flavored bread and the juicy strawberry.
"Get it? Yer made yoo first true dish!"
Grin wide.

Roll #1 6 = 6

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383142

I eat my food then stare at her.
"Dig now?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 383155

"Perhaps… perhaps we should make a few trinkets to sell the next time a merchant comes?"
I scratch my chin.
"Do the three of you have any ideas for designs?"

Lorik 383156

Campfire 383190

"Sure thing. There isn't much demand for anything other than glass blocks."
He eats in silence for a few minutes, then looks back up at you.
"So, you are one of the original seven, right? What sort of perks does being a senior dog have?"

They calm down a bit.
"That's part of the problem. Until a raid comes we don't know the best places to build walls."
"We've only got so much stone right now, and walls, gates, and towers take a lot to build."
"They're right. One of the biggest arguments is where to start he wall, not to mention how tall it should be and if it should be wide enough for guards to walk on."

His eyes go wide as he understands.
"Does this mean I am a cook now? Thank you for teaching me, Mistress, this is the best day of my life!"

She finishes her meal.
"Unless you want more food or sleep, Master."

The unicorn levitates a scrap of paper off a table.
"The traders have requested halberds, warhammers, longswords, shields and bucklers, armor, and musical instruments, Master."

The doctor explains to you that until you can prove you have control over your magic, you are not allowed in the hospital unless you are a patient. You lead Barkspawn out of the hospital, but are unable to Mend his arm.

What a dick

Try again

Roll #1 10 + 2 = 12

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383200

Shake my head.
"No slack. Must work. Useful dog. Not kicked out pack."

Crunch [Knight] 383202

Settle back down.

"I guess you have a point there. No naturla fortifications we can work with yet?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 383204

"Perhaps a musical instrument would be interesting."
Can I wrap my head around how to make a flute of some sort?

Roll #1 2 = 2

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383205

"To my knowledge? None, other than maybe being able to grump at the Alpha every now and again. Out loud. Had to build my own shop, carve my own room… believe it or not, I'm the one who dug out most of the hospital wing."
I'll shake my head.
"Though maybe the Alpha listening to your idea was a bit of a perk. For all I know, it could have gone over just as well without me."

Koka [Monk] 383207

Laugh a bit and let go of him.
"Sure ya are. But dun' rest easy just yet.
Ah'm proud of ya, really.
Naw letz get some workin' done!"

And then I took a few dozens forms of bread and placed them between a mix of dry meat and other flavors, to rest for a few days.

"Ya gotta choose a name for the dish."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383210

Who is Groves character in DDF btw? Is he playing?

I look at the slave receptionist.
"Perhaps Bark can talk to Healer?"

Campfire 383233

You place your paws on his arm and concentrate as hard as your can. Barkspawn can feel tingling as his nerve reattach his arm to his brain and his paw regrows itself. As if that wasn't enough, you also finely tone the muscles in the arm to get ridd of any flab that had built up while it was out of commission. The doctor watches all of this from the doorway of the hospital.
"So when it works, it works miracles? Tell you what: fix the eye of Pom Rainian's slave and I will let you have a job here under me."

"Of course, Master. Follow me."
She leads you back down into the mines where the foredog greets you.
"Welcome back, big guy. Pick a level and dig tunnels looking for gems and metal. No digging down, understand?"

"Above ground and in the place you all decided to settle? We would have to build out own fortifications, which could be knocked down by a siege engine or big, angry monster. If I was in charge I would have everything important move below the aquifers to where we have good, solid stone to work with, but oh well."

You can't figure it out. It seems impossible to make a hollow metal tube with holes in it.

He seems surprised.
"Really? I thought you must have at least some sorts of privileges. I would have tried to get some if I were you."

He looks deep in thought for a few minutes before tentatively speaking.

He is playing Lorik.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 383244

Consult my assistants and give it another go??

Roll #1 4 = 4

Koka [Monk] 383249

"Strawberry bread. Ah love it.
Do me a' favor. Go ta dha quartermaster. Tell him Ah need a larger bed."

And after he goes…
Bake a cake! A special one! Just for him.
He did so good…

Roll #1 3 + 1 = 4

Lorik 383253

"I was put in charge of the hospital. Thanks to your pre-historic healing methods I miscasted. Either I get my position back or I'm leaving. Very simple."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383255

I nod.
Turn to my slave.
"Pony, remember! No dig down!"

Pick a middle level and start digging!

Roll #1 2 + 3 = 5

Crunch [Knight] 383257

"Wouldn't it be better to stop them before they got underground?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383258

I'll shrug.
"What would I do with them? So long as I've my shop and a supply of gems to work with, I'm happy."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383265

I move and stretch my arm then grin.
"Thank! Bark is gratefull. Will make more traps because of Healers help!"

Campfire 383272

They aren't sure either. As far as you can tell a mold wouldn't work because part of the mold would get stuck inside the flute, and curling a sheet into a tube and hammering the two ends together also would not work for obvious reasons.

There are no eggs, so you substitute prepared eyeballs instead. You slave comes back a few minutes after you put the cake in the oven.
"The gryphon in charge says she will see what she can do, Mistress."

"Yes, Master."
You start digging exploratory tunnels but only manage to find rocks, which you leave in nice sized chunks for the haulers.

They grin.
"You would think so, but you've got to remember what we are: Diamond Dogs. If we build things right and work with the trap makers by the time an invading force gets anywhere near our military they will be bloodied, tired, and mostly dead. Can you imagine walking through twisting corridors full of traps, with slits carved into the walls to allow for archers and balistas to fire at you?"
"This is pretty much the only thing we agree on."
"Yeah, walls would be good to slow the enemy down and give everydog a chance to get to safety, but fighting on the surface should be avoided if possible."

He shrugs.
"I dunno. Maybe have some dogs you can boss around, a nicer and bigger bedroom, your own dining room, a fine bitch, the list goes on and on."

Your arm is working perfectly.

He raises an eyebrow.
"Take it up with the Alpha when he wakes up, or take my deal. Your choice."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383277

Go one level lower, and dig sideways there.

Roll #1 8 + 3 = 11

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 383279

…Well shit.
I gotta go for a bit, so I'm just gonna roll a bunch and say that that was me working on it with my assistants..

Roll #1 10, 6, 7, 5, 2 = 30

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383281

"Bark be headin back to Workship, eat and regain strength, Thanks Lorik for help." I give him a toothy smile and head back to my place and see if Springgreen has made something up.

Koka [Monk] 383282

Ups. Hide the oven!
Stand in front of it!
Look uncospicious!
"T-thanks Cook. You are great. We got food fo' days, take today off."

Roll #1 6 = 6

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383286

"Perhaps. But I'm a craftsdog first and foremost. So long as I've my tools and a place to sleep, I have all I need."

Crunch [Knight] 383296

"You have a point. So what about traps then? Do we have the materials for them?"

Campfire 383307

You strike gold this time. Well, gems, not gold. A long vein of nice, pretty blue gems. Your zebra picks one up.
"These are beautiful, master."

After drawing a few diagrams the two of you are able to figure it out, and get to work. Two flutes turn out alright, but the other two get mangled despite your best efforts.

Springgreen Jumps to her hooves and wipes off her face when you come back.
"Master! I am sorry, but I did not know how long you would be gone so I ate without you. I did not touch your food though; bread and simple soup, just like you asked."

Your pokerface remains intact.
"Take today off? What do you mean, Mistress?"

"Fine, fine, but at least tell me you decorated your furniture."

"Oh yes, the smiths have been making things and the trapmakers have been putting them together.
"Trying to, anyways."
"From what I've gathered the traps are going to three different types. Traps with spinning, circular sawblades that pop out of the walls, traps that drop stones on the enemy from above, and traps that will lock whatever sets them off in the cages we got when we bought the slaves."

Koka [Monk] 383312

"Ah mean, ya can go back in da room an' chill out.
Read somethin, paint, whatever is it ya do."

Crunch [Knight] 383316

"Don't we need to start digging some trenches or halls to place these and furrow invaders into?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383317

I'll think for a moment.
"No, actually. Been too focused on making things to sell. Window might be nice, though. A little side project, maybe."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383318

Take some of them in my pockets.
"Pony not steal. Dog can take."
Start to dig all the gems out.
"What gem?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383320

Roll #1 1 + 3 = 4

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383323

I frown a bit as I look at her empty bowl.
"Alright pony, later we set out and put some traps. We start with trapping the treasury first."
"But after I eat first." I then head and go eat my breakfast.

I look at her flank, does the slave ponies have a cutie mark?

Campfire 383331

He starts to tear up.
"You d-d-on't want me to serve you any m-more today, M-mistress? But I thought you said I did well?"
He throws himself at your feet, bawling.
"Please tell me how I failed you, Mistress!"

"Yes, if the Alpha orders the fortress to be moved to the stone layer under the aquifer."
"There is no room to dig in the living area now, it's just one big clusterfuck."
"No offence to whoever first designed it, of course."
"The enemy won't show up without doing recon, and you had better believe they will go after us the civilians instead of a mostly empty mine."

"A window? Isn't that a bit of a security hazard?"

She pouts up at you as you shovel out the gems with your paws.
"But I do such a good job remembering for you, Master."

You dig deeper into the vein until you are surrounded on all but one side by the blue stones.

There is a collar on her well-toned flank.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383334

"Pony want gem?"

Roll #1 2 = 2

Koka [Monk] 383337

Roll my eyes.
"Ya didn't, stupid smelly thing.
But Ah dun want ta work anymore today.
We dun good."
Pat him on the head.
"Ya did gud."
Stand up.
"So we git sum rest."

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383338

"I suppose. It would be a vanity item anyway."
I'll think again.
"Perhaps I'll follow your example, and just make a cup from a large gem. That could actually be a little fun."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383342

After eating, bring our usual stuff for trap making and head back to the treasury room.
Analyze it now, what is the best trap that would be put on the entrance?

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383344

"What does flank mark mean?" I look at Spring Green as I point it while heading for the treasury room.

Crunch [Knight] 383350

"One more thing to bring to his attention, I suppose. What about what we have established so far?"

Campfire 383360

She doesn't answer. You turn around but cannot see her at the entrance to the small tunnel you have dug. Distracted by the painful thinking involved in wondering where she went, you almost don't feel something stab into your back.
4/7 Hits remaining

He dries his eyes and stands up.
"Oh. I am sorry for not understanding, Mistress. You are right to call me stupid and smelly."
He falls in by your side, ready to go wherever you go.

He grins.
"Now you're thinking."
He raises his mug.
"A toast to clever crafters?"

The best way to set things up would be to put cage traps at the very front and back of the hallway leading from the treasury/stockpile to the outside. Between the two rows of cage traps would be stonefall traps and weapon traps.

"It means I am good at being a slave, Master. The slavers generally do not sell us ponies if we get a mark that is not related to our servitude."

"The trap makers have mad e a few traps and we have been altering the pit to force invaders to all down the same staircase, but otherwise we have nothing."
"The others cannot see the brilliance of my plan for the above ground fortifications, and refuse to let building begin.
"Shut up, you stupid poodle."

Koka [Monk] 383362

He's not leaving, uh?
"Gah. Okay, Ah got a mission fer ya.
Find who's da pony that cuts gems. Kay?"

As soon as he goes, check on the cake.

Roll #1 4 + 1 = 5

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383368

I'll raise my glass as well.
"To clever crafters, may their inspirations never run dry, nor their paws become feeble."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383371

Shrug and turn around.
What was that?

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383373

"I see, you are a good slave Spring and will serve Bark well." I then tickle her ear.
"Let us start then." I stretch my arms.

Head to very front of the hallway first then install the first cage trap.

Roll #1 5 = 5

Campfire 383385

"Yes, Mistress."
He leaves to find the gem pony, walking quickly instead of running. You gave him the day off, after all.

"Hear heaar."
He clinks his glass against yours and draiins his drink in one gulp. He wipes his mouth off with the back of a paw and stands.
"Time for me to get back to work. We should get together like this more."

I looks like a slender diamond dog, but is made out of the same blue crystal that you were digging out just moments ago. It's entire body is blue, save for one of its arms which is a sharp spike red with your blood. It lunges at you, beat my roll to dodge it.

She giggles as you tickle her ear and watches as you can't quite get the mechanism to spring the trap put in place.
"Master? Perhaps I can help if you give me a lesson on how to make traps?"

Roll #1 10 = 10

Koka [Monk] 383388

Good. Now take out the cake, give it a last touch up and hide it.

Roll #1 6 + 1 = 7

Crunch [Knight] 383389

"Well, what can we do now? We can't rely on the milita for everything, they're not even trained yet."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383392

Does child of Gaia apply here?
"Bad gems! No dig dog! Dog dig gems!"

Roll #1 7 + 1 = 8

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383393

I put the cage down.
"Hmmm.. how do Bark start on it?" I mused.
"Should we go back to the workshop to teach you there or start here? I could show you."

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383395

I'll nod slightly.
"Yes. I'll likely have the time now that my slave is laid up for a few days. Next time I might even bring my own glass."

Campfire 383401

You make some frosting out of some sweat things you find and hide it.

One of the dogs whispers something, put you cannot tell which it was.
"And whose fault do you think that is?"

You try to dodge to the side, but it disappears into the crystal floor and comes out of the wall behind you. Once again it stabs you, and this time you fall to your knees, Helpless.

"You are the trap maker, Master. I am sorry, but I do not know."

"I'll see you then."
With that said he leaves the dining hall.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383405

Since when do gems mine dogs?
Try to stand up!

Roll #1 4 = 4

Who said that?

Roll #1 10 = 10

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383414

"Alright, lets see. Lets start here, let me teach you here. Perhaps later I can teach you more back in the workshop."

Teach her the basics, like the trigger, the mechanism and stuff.

Roll #1 4 = 4

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383415

Well, I'll finish my meal, and then head back to the shop.
Any good sized gems I could use for a mug? '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Well now. Let's bake something quick. Maybe I can exchange it for a nice shiny gem to gift Cook.

Try to make one of his great Strawberry Breads.

Roll #1 9 + 1 = 10

Campfire 383421

You are unable to stand up before it slashes at you with its razor sharp arm.
4/5 wounds

It was the big guy at the back. He looks like some odd cross between a Dig Dog and a Runt.

Her eyes glaze over as you teach. Once you finish she blinks a few times.
"I am sorry, Master, but maybe one more lesson?"

No gems that are large enough to make anything more than a shotglass.

You make on, and are even able to improve on the design.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383426

Oh well. Dig for some talc, or a soft mineral. '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Koka [Monk] 383427

Great. Pack it up and go looking for Cook and the gemcrafter pony.

Crunch [Knight] 383428

Stalk up to him.

"Something you'd like to say, mongrel?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383429

Try again!

Roll #1 8 = 8

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383434

I stare at her for a moment.
"Bark bets you get only glancing idea's. Workshop is best place perhaps. Bark could really use a helping paw….. or a helping hoof if he want traps properly installed."

Head back to the workshop and in there teach her how traps work and why its effective.

Roll #1 2 = 2

Campfire 383441

The softest you are able to find is limestone. A pony sticks his head into your workshop.
"Excuse me, sir, but are you the gemcrafter? My own told me to find you."

You ask a few dogs where he went and they direct you to Pom's workshop.

You are able to roll away and get back to your paws before it strikes you again. You think you can hear the faint clopping of hooves on the stone floor of the mine.

Your lesson is far too technical for her to understand.
"I am sorry, Master, but I do not understand."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383443

What is that pony doing…

Back to the matter at paw.
Bash that gem thing with my pickaxe.
Earthen stike.

Roll #1 3 = 3

Koka [Monk] 383446

Off to him I go!
First I should see somepony. The quartermaster.
"Ah need a gem. A nice one. A sparky one."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383454

I slump down for a moment wiping my sweat.
"How can Bark explain it better."

Alright start at beginning and make my teaching simpler by adding sexual innuendo's and how dogs can tie ponies in knots and stuff.

>there RNG I did it, give me something higher.

Roll #1 3 = 3

Campfire 383467

It slides into the wall far enough that you miss and it is able to cut your side. The sound of hooves on stone is louder now, and you think you can hear the patter of paws on stone as well.

"If you want a gem talk to one of the gemcutters or visit the mines. We don't store any of those here."

The pony's eyes go wide as she realizes the double meanings to the things you are saying and learns a new definition of the word "trap". She seems to have been too flustered by your dirty talk to learn anything useful about trap making.
"Perhaps Master needs to relieve some tension? If you give me a book on trap making I can study it while you, um, have your privacy."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383471

More diggers?

Try to attack it again!

Roll #1 3 + 1 = 4

Koka [Monk] 383472

Off to the mines I go.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383484

"I am, what's your business?"

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383485

I scratch my head in frustration.
"I will relieve my tension to whomever I want to relieve it on pony, but now is not the time to do just that." I stare at her.

I then head to my notes and compile them.
"Be careful with these, I review them and update them sometimes. Call me if you have some questions, I'll be here." I then hand it to her.

Campfire 383490

It sinks into the floor and cuts your legs as you stumble through the space where it was just a second ago. The sound of hooves and paws is quite loud now, and you can hear your zebra shouting something.

He makes a rude gesture at you with his paw. you go to the first level of the mines, but it is empty save for a pony who is lying down next to a cart. She jumps to her hooves when she sees you.
"May I help you, miss?"

"My owner wanted me to find you, sir. Have a good day."
After having said that he leaves.

She takes them with a wing.
"Thank you, Master. I will begin studying now."
Come back later and she will have a +1 bonus as if you had given her a lesson.

Koka [Monk] 383493

"Ah need tah get a gem. Shiny. Get me somedog Ah can talk to."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383495

Clever pony?

Hit that gem again!
Gems not supposed to move!

Roll #1 8 + 1 = 9

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383502

But I've more pressing things.
Have to find some stone softer than lime. '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383505

I look at her as she began studying the notes. I then crack my knuckles and carry the cage trap to the very front of the hallway leading to the treasury. This time I try to install it correctly.

Roll #1 10 = 10

Campfire 383512

"A zebra ran up here screaming about how her Master was being attacked several levels down. There might be gems there, or you can explore the rest f the mine on your own, miss."

You hit it hard enough to send small cracks spreading through its body. You can hear your slave's voice clearly now.
"He's back here! Please, hurry!"

You look through the reports in Boyar's office and find a notice that Mica was found at the very bottom of the mine, abut 21 levels below the surface.

You get it perfect. Lucky for you, your slave followed you to ask a question and saw you put it in place.
"That was perfect, Master. Can you please explain this to me?"
She points at a section of the book with a winger.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383518

Bleh. It does me no good down there. We've got some in stock, right? '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

Koka [Monk] 383519

Ah'm helping!"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383523

I chose a clever pony it seems.
Keep bashing that gemthing!
Earthern strike!

Roll #1 10 + 1 = 11

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383537

I look at the notes.
"Ah, Let Bark teach you about that."

Roll #1 10 = 10

Campfire 383552

The records say that level has not been mined yet.

You follow your ears down several flights of stairs and a winding tunnel. Up ahead is a group of dogs stop short as a might shout can be heard. It is a good thing they did, because a shower of gem fragments shoots out of the side tunnel they were running towards like shot out of a cannon.

Decided that two can play at the gem trick, you scrape some gems off the wall and expose the stone underneath. With a punch it cracks, then clumps onto your arm. With a mighty roar you pull your fist back and strike the gem creature in the chest, causing it to explode even as it is propelled backwards by your fist. A worried voice calls out to you.
"Master? Are you hurt?"

You sit down next to her and give all of her questions simple, but good, answers.
"Thank you, Master. It all makes so much sense to me now."
She will now be rolling at +1 to make traps for the rest of the day.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 383558

Bah. Double bah.
Head down to the mines. Need to request some brought up.

Koka [Monk] 383560

Step inside.
"Wut's goin on here!?"
Kung fu pose.
"Anydog hurt?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383564

Take some fragments and put them in my pocket.
"Not bad. Just small bruises. Gem tried dig pony."

I shake my head.
"Gem tried dig dog. Dog digged gem back."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383565

"Good pony, come we got two more traps to put in this place." I then stand up and help her carry the next cage trap that would be installed at the back of the hallway. With her help we arrange the cage trap in place.

Roll #1 9 + 1 = 10

Koka [Monk] 383567

"Good thing. Sorry to miss da fun. Ya hurt?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383569

"Gem tried dig dog. Got bit hurt. Not much."

Koka [Monk] 383571

"Here, take this."
Give him one of the Strawberry Breads.
"New recipe. Fer yer courage."

Campfire 383580

As you head down deeper into the mines you spot a pony trying to get some rest, a small pack of diamond dogs, and then nothing as you descend further and further down. Finally, after walking for what feels like forever, you are at the bottom of the mine. The walls and air are cold here, and you can feel the weight of the earth pressing down on you from up above.

A zebra slips past you as you step into the side tunnel. You can see a large, bloody, dig dog in a small chamber at the end of the tunnel, and you can also see the blue gems lining the walls turning dark and dissolving into dust.

You grab a few of the fragments that don't disappear. your slave runs up to you and gasps as she sees your condition.
"Master, I went to get help as fast as I could! You need to get to the hospital now, quickly, please!"
The mine's foredog looks into the tunnel and whistles.
"You found one of those gemdogs, huh? Lucky there was only one. There was only one, right?"

Any big pieces of gem I can see lying around?

Roll #1 7 = 7

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383583

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383587

I stare at it, then put it away in a pocket.

Pet the zebra on her head.
"Good pony. Clever. Hospital go? Why?"

Then to the foredog.

Campfire 383588

the two of you work together flawlessly and get the cage put in place. She looks at it wistfully.
"That was the cage I came here in."

Koka [Monk] 383589

"Yer welcom'. Can Ah take a gem?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383595

I nod.
"Dogs take gem, yes."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383596

"Is that so?" I look at her.
"Tell Bark where did you come from?"

Listen while me and her unload the stones to be used for the stone falls trap and ready it.

Koka [Monk] 383598

Grin back.

And then take the biggest gem I can see with that 7.

Campfire 383600

"Because you are bleeding, Master! Please, let me take you to the hospital."
The foredog speaks.
"She's right, bug guy. Have the doc stitch you up and take the day off. Normally gemdogs get found in groups of three or more, and shred whatever poor mutt finds them if he tries to get greedy and digs right into their next after mistaking it for a cluster of gems."

"The mountainhomes, Master. Your accent is familiar so i believe it is the same one you and most of the other diamond dogs here are from."
She tries to make the trap herself.

You take a gem the size of your runty fist.

Roll #1 4 + 1 = 5

Koka [Monk] 383604

And up I can go!
Now I'd need the gemcutter but…
Oh well. Back to our kitchen. Is Cook back already?

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383606

I listen to the dog then nod.
Turn to pony.
"Pony, remember gemdogs! Hospital now?"

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383607

Whoops help her in making the trap.

Roll #1 9 + 1 = 10

Campfire 383612

He is waiting for you there.

"Yes, Master, now please hurry!"
She gallops out of the tunnel.

You spot the stone about to fall, and hold it up with one paw while helping her with the other paw.
"Thank you for your help, Master."
She tries to build another one.

Roll #1 6 + 1 = 7

Campfire 383618

She is able to get the mechanism in place and link with the stone, but forgets to hide the stone from sight. The trap is perfectly functional, but can easily be seen.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383619

Follow her wherever she leads me.

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383622

"Dont rush it." I put the rocks down and assist her a bit.

Put some concealment, perhaps some rubble or foliage might work. If not an upturned cart might do the trick.

Roll #1 8 + 1 = 9

Koka [Monk] 383625

Greet him with a smile.
"Ya found gempony?"

Koka [Monk] 383638

Campfire 383641

She leads you up and out of the mines and back to the main fortress, then down a level, past some workshops with dogs in them, and into a large room with an exit on the other side from which you came in. A dog siting behind a desk jumps up as the two of you enter.
"Dog, follow me! Zebra, tell me what happened!"
Your slave starts to explain what happened, to the best of her knowledge.

"I am sorry, Master."
She watches you work, then tries to make another one.

He smiles back.
"Yes, Mistress. He looked busy, though, so now may not be the best time for a visit."

Roll #1 3 + 1 = 4

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383648

Follow him.
"What wrong?"

Campfire 383649

She drops the rock before she is able to secure it in place, but it misses both of you.

Koka [Monk] 383653

"Good Cook. Let's go to room."
I've gotta replace all that useless stuff after all.
So, what's in here and what is not?

Roll #1 10 = 10

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383656

"No.. no, be careful. Okay here let me handle it. Stay back pony." I then try to install the weapon trap that she is attaching.

How many more traps are we putting up? Any places that needs more traps?

Roll #1 5 + 1 = 6

Campfire 383681

He looks at you as he takes a needle and thread out of a green glass chest.
"Can't you feel all of those cuts? Hold still, one of my slaves is going to need to clean those."
You an feel a sting as wet cloths start to dab at your wounds."

You've got a very good room. It is three units long and three units wide, has a dresser for clothing, and chest for your belongings, the large bed you ordered earlier today, and a door separating it from the hallway.

You finish the trap.
Your pony is one trap away from advancing to the next skill level. The places that still need traps are the hallway leading to the barracks, the way down into the pit, and randomly placed traps in the hallways in the living area.

Koka [Monk] 383686

This is a very happy dog.
"Try the bed Cook. Which side do ya like?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383691

I hiss slightly.
"Now can. Not really hurt before."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383692

I dust of my paws.
"That does it. Good job Spring." I smile.

"Say, is pony tired. We head to barracks hallway and install some traps there. Are you up to it?" I look at her as I arrange the traps and start heading there with her in tow.

Campfire 383696

He looks surprised but flutters up onto the bed. He lays down on one side then on the other.
"They are both soft, Mistress."

He starts stitching closed the clean gashes.
"I have never had much chance to work on Dig Dogs before. I always thought the stories about you lunks not feeling pain were made up. Keep holding still, some of these are a bit too big to simply sew shut."

"I am up for it, Master."
She helps you pack up the trap supplies and carry it to your next destination.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383700

I look at him, slightly confused.
"Kopaz sometimes hurt when dig. Kopaz gets better."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383704

Okay analyze the hallway leading to the barracks, what are the appropriate traps that would be good to install in this place? Perhaps some swinging axe traps or is that too dangerous?

"After we install the traps in this place, we take a rest pony."

Koka [Monk] 383705

"Yeah, choose one then. That's why I got the big bed in the first place."

Campfire 383717

The doctor finishes stitching your lacerations and begins to wash out and bandage your puncture wounds.
"Kopaz will get better faster if he rests. No more digging today, and come see me tomorrow morning after you eat, or earlier if you are feeling sick."

The sawblade and spike traps would go well here.

He lies down and his eyes go wide.
"Oh! Will you be requiring companionship, Mistress?"

Koka [Monk] 383725

"No Cook. Ah'm trying tah give ya a good place fer sleep."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383726

I get the spike traps.
"As for now, watch and assist me pony. Understand?"

I then set up the first spike trap.

Roll #1 7 + 1 = 8

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383729

I scratch my head.
Is my slave inside here?

Campfire 383742

He blushes.
"Oh. My apologies, Mistress. Thank you for offering to share the bed w-I mean offering me half of the bed."
He blushes even harder.

"Yes, Master."
She lets you take the lead and helps by giving you items and holding things.

She is watching the doctor work on you with a worried look on her face.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383743

Look at her, then at the doctor.
"Pony remember?"

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383751

Set another spike trap

I look at the long hallway, How many spike traps and razor one's can fit in this hallway. Within reason of course.

Roll #1 4 + 1 = 5

Koka [Monk] 383754

"Ya deserve it. Ask if ya want somethin'."
Wink at him. non-sexually.But yet again, I'm no mare.
"We' gonna tell'em it's for me."

Campfire 383762

She nods.

About five.
"Master, may I try now?"

Your wink does not help his blush.
"I-I-I live live to s-serve, Mistress. I have a soft bed, a mistress that treats me well, and the day off. What more could I want?"

Crunch [Knight] 383767

wow, people sure dropped out.

I guess I'll go check on those militadogs. Whelp he may be, he did have a point. What're they all doing?

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383770

Inspect my bandages.
Look back at the doctor.
"What now?"

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383771

I stand back, almost getting skewered by that one.
"Alright you try, but Bark will keep close watch, Bark is worried of pony safety." I step back…
Then pat her flank. "Bark like you unharmed so be careful."

Koka [Monk] 383780

"Beats me. More than Ah have."
Chuckle a bit.
"Ya wanna go outside an' watch da sky?"

Campfire 383783

They are standing around the body of a bushwooley thief, and a dying donkey foal that you recognize as one of the slaves brought by the first imprints to this fortress.

"Take it easy. Sleep, relax, whatever just as long as it doesn't have you moving very much."

She shivers slightly when you pat her flank.
"Yes, Master."

He hops off the bed.
"If that is what you want me to do, Mistress."

Roll #1 4 + 1 = 5

Campfire 383788

She can't get the springs that force the spikes to pop out of the floor to stay in place.

Koka [Monk] 383789

Rest my paws on my sides and cock my head, giving a reprimendal look to the pegasus.
"What did Ah tell ya 'bout cooking, Cook?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383792

"But Kopaz like dig. Kopaz not know what else do."

Aidi [DD Knight] 383793

Let's get up and check the condition of our bee hives.

Can I apply the farming bonus to this?

Roll #1 3 = 3

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383795

"Alright let Bark help."
Help with the spring.

Roll #1 9 + 1 = 10

Crunch [Knight] 383799

"Well…what happened here?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 383806

"You know, I don't have any ways of testing them out myself. Would you like to try them?"
I offer one to my assistants.

Campfire 383810

He scrunches.
"That it's done with the heart, Mistress?"

"Sleep, eat, look at the clouds, stare at a wall, whatever. It doesn't matter so long as you don't do aanything that could pop your stitches."

What bonus do you have?
No one ever put bees in them, it seems. You will need to find some if you want some honey for the fort.

With you help she is able to get the trap made and learn a few things.
Skill level increased.

"Merchant Dawn found the thief, and it stabbed her a few times. We aren't sure where her old own is."

The zebra stallion and unicorn stallion each take a flute and try to play.

Roll #1 4, 6 = 10

Koka [Monk] 383813

"Right. So what's ya heart telling now?"
Poke him on the chest.

Campfire 383815

The zebra cannot get his flute to make any noise, but the unicorn is able to play a few notes.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383820

I nod, then look at my slave expectantly.

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383823

I then ready one more spike trap. Then after this spike I will set up a razor trap.

Setting up the spike trap

Roll #1 9 + 1 = 10

Aidi [DD Knight] 383824

The farming one, or trap making to make sure they stay there.

"Darn it, I'd rather avoid going to the woods alone. Where is Switch? I promised to join her in a hunt. Oh well, let's go to the weapons training grounds and see if they need any help."

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 383825

"You know… in the nature of wanting to make a better product, do you three mind attempting to figure out how those work while I work on constructing another?"
I smile at them and get to work again, making a third flute using all that I know.

Roll #1 4 = 4

Crunch [Knight] 383834

"Hrm. Get the slave to the doctor. Good job with the thief though. Was that the only one?"

Campfire 383851

"Obey my Mistress."

She shrugs.
"Let's get something to eat, Master."

You get it perfect while your slave watches.

You get no bonus from knowing those skills. The only time you get a bonus is if you took a skill twice.
There is no one in the barracks.

They all nod and start studying the flute while you fail to make another one.

Two of them carefully pick up the bleeding, unconscious foal and carry her away. the other dogs start cleaning their weapons.
"That was the only one we saw, sir."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383852

I stop for a bit to think hard.
"Dog said watch cloud. Eat outside?"

Koka [Monk] 383855

Leave and go outside.
Unless outside is filled with stuff ready to murderfuck me.
"Tell me yer story."

Crunch [Knight] 383856

"Let's hope it stays that way. Those blasted things are a blight on any fortress."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383861

"Assist me on this in case." I then ready the razor trap and attach it.

Roll #1 4 + 1 = 5

Aidi [DD Knight] 383863

"Did something happen? This is what I get for waking up late. Let's go to the kitchen and see if anyone needs any help."

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 383869

…I guess I work on another one.
While I work I look at them out of the corner of my eye. Do they seem to be enjoying themselves with the toy?

Roll #1 1 = 1

Campfire 383878

"We can do that, Master. Follow me please, Master."
She walks to the food storage area.

Just some anthropomorphic bug/diamond dog hybrids in the distance.
He follows you out of the fortress and into the evening air.
"I was born in one of the slave pins of a mountain home belonging to The Watchfulness of Reputations. I was raised by my mother and the trainers there. When I got a cutiemark in serving instead of a specific skill I was sold to a caravan of merchants. One of the diamond dogs here bought me and all the other slaves that hadn't been sold at previous stops. After a month or so of being here you adopted me."

"At least there haven't been any Snatchers. Every now and then we used to hear stories about them stealing pups from frontier fortresses."

"Yes, Master."

Maybe a little. It's hard to tell with the searing pain from where you hit your paw with a heavy hammer.

Roll #1 2 + 2 = 4

Crunch [Knight] 383886

Clench my paws.
"We need to find out where those things are coming from and plug the holes. I will not have any of those getting in here!"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383889

Follow her.
"Pony did good. Brought help."

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 383892

Is it… is it bad?

Roll #1 9 = 9

Aidi [DD Knight/Trapsmith/Farmer] 383894

"Let's go to the kitchen and prepare something for when the caravans come."

Roll #1 4 = 4

Koka [Monk] 383897

"Cool story kid."
Enjoy the sun.
"Ya gotta figure something out that's not what dogs tell ya if ya wanna be real good at this cook stuff."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383900

"Ah no no."
Help SpringGreen and support her on the trap

Roll #1 3 + 1 = 4

Campfire 383907

"My guess is that it came in through the front when no one was looking."

She smiles at you over your shoulder.
"I can't let my owner die, can I? They would do horrible, horrible things to me."

It hurts like a bitch, which is an expression you've never really understood.

You spill a bunch of stuff on the floor on accident.

He looks confused.
"But the trainers told me I wasn't supposed to think for myself, Mistress. That is how slaves get in trouble."

She does a few steps out of order and you are just barely able to save her from a fast, messy death. The two of you come away with several cuts.
"Thank you and sorry, Master."

Koka [Monk] 383910

"You no slave. You Cook."

Aidi [DD Knight/Trapsmith/Farmer] 383912

Let's clean up and try again. Also, let's ask any nearby dogs about where the garrison dogs went.

Roll #1 5 = 5

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383914

I think again for a second again.
"Pony wanted blue gem?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 383916

I wince and try to wave my hand to dull the pain.
"I'm fine, I'm fine…"
Can I get back to work?

Roll #1 5 = 5

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383931

"Are you okay pony? Putting Razor traps are one of the hardest part." help her stand up.

I put the trap on the side. Take a breather this turn.

Crunch [Knight] 383935

"Unbelievable. We need those traps up soon."

Campfire 383938

He looks even more confused now.
"But Mistress, I am a slave. My name is Cook."

You clean most of it up and after some questions a few dogs direct you to some of the military dogs kicking around a Bushwoolie corpse outside.

She stoops and turns around.
"Oh yes, Master. I think it would go well with my eyes, don't you?"
She looks up at you with her big, purple eyes.

Your hand doesn't feel very bad, but that changes if you try to do anything with it. Maybe a rest is in order? The slaves look up at you.
"Is something wrong, Master?"

"I am fine, Master. Thank you for saving me."
She sits down next to you and pouts.
"We were doing so well. Why did our luck have to turn, Master?"

"They just got put up about an hour ago, sir. Cages, rocks, and spinning metal things."

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 383941

I wince.
"I may need to give my hand a rest for the day."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383943

"As Bark said, its hard to put razor traps." I then ready the trap.

"Just assist Bark, if this dont work then we rest for now." Put the razor trap in palce.

Roll #1 10 + 1 = 11

Koka [Monk] 383944

"I don't need no slave though."

Aidi [DD Knight/Trapsmith/Farmer] 383949

Let's check out the corpse and the dogs there.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383950

Blink a few times, then fish out one of the blue gems from my pocket. Possibly a smaller one, and offer it to her in my paw.
"Because pony was good slave."

Crunch [Knight] 383962

"Good. Well then I expect you have all their locations memorized?"

Campfire 383982

"Shall we keep working here, Master?"

Remind me again where you are getting that +1 from?
She helps you as you put the traps in place.

"Please forgive me for asking, Mistress, but why did you adopt me if you did not need me?"

Its head was split apart by an axe blow. The dogs are all wearing armor and have their weapons slung.

She takes it and places it in her mane.
"Thank you master, now let's go get some food in our bellies, hmm?"
She continues leading you to the dining hall.

Koka [Monk] 383988

"Ah do need ya. But like a cook, not like a slave.
Slaves no good cooks.
You good cook. Ya got it in yer blood.
Ah bet dat buttmark coul'haf been a big cake."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 383990

from her help I suppose I thought. If not then no +1 then.

"Alright, one more trap and last one." I ready it.

"Help me here pony. Then we will rest after this." I grin.

Ready the trap and place it.

Roll #1 4 = 4

Aidi [DD Knight/Trapsmith/Farmer] 383994

"Does anyone know where it came in from? I have a few spare traps I haven't set yet."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 383997

I nod.
"Good food? No dig?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384003

"I think we should all take a break for the day. Though, you two should keep playi- erm, figuring out those flutes. Are you enjoying them?"

Crunch [Knight] 384004

Campfire 384025

He stands up.
"Are-are you freeing me, Mistress? Can you even do that?"

Oh. Just roll vanilla and I can have her roll to help you.
She tries to help you.

"It got in through the main tunnel. The dig dog and his slave put up some traps there, don't worry."

"Good food, no dig."
The two of you are now in the dining hall.

"We enjoying serving you, Master. We will keep trying to figure out how to play this for you, if that is what you wish, Master."

"Yes sir, but there is no real reason to worry."
He brushes some dust off a pressure plate and stomps on it. Nothing happen.
"We can trigger them. It's magic."

Roll #1 1 + 1 = 2

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384029

I inwardly sigh.
"It is what I wish."
Now… is there a woodworking facility around here?
Maybe I can be useful like that. Surely woodworking won't agitate my hand too much, will it?

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384030

Motion with my paws for her to get some food.
"Find place where eat."

Chip(DD knight) 384032

Shit, push her out of harmsway in case.

Roll #1 3 = 3

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq 384035

Koka [Monk] 384036

"Hold yer lil hooves.
Ah doubt that's sumthin' Ah can do.
And Ah still need yer help in dah kitchen.
But Ah want'ya to think… Feel. Ah want ya to feel.
Good cooks feel."

Aidi [DD Knight/Trapsmith/Farmer] 384038

"Let's find out who is setting up the traps, then. I was going to ask for help to trap the caravan area."

Campfire 384048

You are unable to get to her in time and a large razor passes through her midriff. Here yes go wide but nothing else happens for a few seconds. As she tries to move, the wound opens and part of her intestines pop out with a loud schlorp. She collapses with a terrified expression painted on her face; her breath coming in rapid gasps.

He nods.
"I can do that for you, Mistress. I am good at following orders."
He lies back down next to you and looks at the sky.

"It was Barkspawn and hiss slave. I think they are setting up traps in the barracks area."

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384052

Koka [Monk] 384056

He's a good lil boy.
"Do ya like da sky?"

Crunch [Knight] 384059

"Well, how convenient. We're lucky to have such good trapsmiths. Keep practicing! Next time might not be a rogue fuzzball!"

Aidi [DD Knight/Trapsmith/Farmer] 384061

"Thanks, I'll be over there with him if you need me."

Back to the Barracks.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384063

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq 384068

I grit my teeth.
"Calm down pony I will bring you to the healers!" I brush her mane to calm her down.

I empty the cart and put her inside it(including her insides) and push it with all my might to the healers.

"Help! She needs help!" I yelp at the healer and at Lorik if he is present.

Campfire 384072

There is.

You are there.

I know I typed out responses the first time.

Campfire 384086

"No, Mistress. It is too big. It scares me."

"Yes, sir."
They salute and return to the barracks.

You get her in the cart and rush her off towards the hospital.
Waiting to see if Groves will try anything.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384087

I go there and try to make… a puzzlebox I guess.
Surely I can at least do that.

Roll #1 1 = 1

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384089

Rolling to see how good I am at this 'relaxing' thing.

Roll #1 6 = 6

Roll #1 4 + 2 = 6

Koka [Monk] 384098

"Dun worry. Ah'm here ta protect ya.
Letz go back in."
Let's head inside and make way for… Where do dogs usually chill anyway?

Crunch [Knight] 384103

Sigh and go check on my slaves.

Campfire 384128

You slice open your paw with a carving knife and get the wound full of splinters.

Pretty good. You sit down in a chair and relax with a large mug of some sort of alcohol while your slave ties her gem to a leather strap she found on the floor.

You see Barkspawn rushing his slave to the hospital. You quickly stop him and place your paws on either side of the wound on his slave's stomach. they glow and her guts slither back inside her and her skin closes back up. There will be a scare, but she will live.

"Thank you, Mistress."
He stands up and follows you back inside.
They normally relax in the storage area or the dining hall.

Your female gryphon is making furniture good enough to put in bedrooms now and you male gryphon is putting a dent in the fortress's vermin population.

Lorik 384131

I look at Barkspawn
"Regular costumer."

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384134

I wince.
"Assistants… you're dismissed for the day. Please return to our room and keep toying with… with the flute to try and learn to play them."
I wince and grit my teeth, heading off towards the infirmary.

Koka [Monk] 384135

"Why dun' ya wait in da room? I gotta do sumething alone now."

Once he's gone, go look for the gemcrafter.

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384139

Hug Lorik and lick the side of his face.
"You're Bark's favourite healer!"

Look at Spring Green inside the cart and brush her mane.
"Is pony alright? Another mishap again." I frown.

Crunch [Knight] 384142

Ah, excellent. Go check out some of her furniture.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384143

Look at her, and after a bit of thinking, ask.
"Why pony look strange?"
Poke her with a finger on the side.

Campfire 384150

"Yes, Mistress."
The zebra looks uncertain about leaving you with your wound, but follows his orders. The doctor meets you at the door of the hospital and sighs when he sees your hand.
"Follow me."

"Yes, Mistress."
He walks off towards the residential area.

She pokes at her belly in wonder.
"Yes, Master. I am fine."

the slave follows her owner's example and hugs you.
"Thank you, sir."

She is carving a cabinet right now. It is plain, but there are no major flaws you can see.

"I am a zebra, Master. My kind has stripes."

Koka [Monk] 384154

And then I went to the gemcrafter.

Lorik 384155

I grumble as they hug me
"No need for thanks. My job to handle these things."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384158

"Zebra? What pony?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384159

I follow him and await healing.
"Today has not gone well…"
I sigh.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384160

And I'll be there right after I get a decent amount of Mica.

Roll #1 3 = 3

Campfire 384164

Pom is probably still in his shop.

The salve lets go of your leg.

"No pony. Zebra."

It's your fault for always playing chicks.

"We all have them."
He hands you a piece of thick leather.
"Bite this while I fix up your hand."

You take as much back to your shop as your runty little body can carry.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384167

I bite down and try to resist the pain.

Roll #1 5 = 5

Crunch [Knight] 384168

"Good work. Your progress has been steady. Perhaps some of these can be sold to the next caravan."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384169

"Lorik saves. This fort needs more dogs like you." I bow then turn to Green.

I rub her belly.
"Enough traps for today. Rest for now."
Wash the cart of blood, put my tools in and head for my workshop.

Koka [Monk] 384172

"Hey there. Ah'm Koka, da new cook."

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384173

Stupid lazy dogs and who is that outside my shop.
I'll nod slightly.
"So, what do you need, then? I take it your slave was the one who was sent just to find my shop?"

Koka [Monk] 384183

He's gud pony.
Ah need a gem carved. Got ya a special food fer payment."
Pull out both the blue gem and a Strawberry Bread.

Campfire 384187

It hurts a lot, but you don't make any noise louder than a whimper as he cleans your paw, removes the splinters and stitches it up. He stands and wipes his brow.
"Your brother knows basic healing magic, right? have him take care of that if you want to get back to work son."

"If Master thinks that would be a wise use for them, it will be done."

She laughs and one of her back legs kicks while you rub her belly. She then helps you clean the cart and carry your tools and supplies back to your workshop.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384189

"You have pony body."
Scratch my head in confusion

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384193

"I'm afraid I don't know… erm, where he is at the moment, but yes… I guess I will look for him."
With that, I depart and try to find Boyar.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384197

"Considering my arms are full of rocks, that will have to wait a moment. Get the door, and we'll talk inside."

Campfire 384200

She nods.
"So do donkeys."

He is asleep in his room. What a lazy Alpha. I hope no one ever tries anything while he has his back turned.

Koka [Monk] 384203

Nod and open the door for him.

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384205

I then grab something to bite, fruits would be good.

Roll #1 2 = 2

Crunch [Knight] 384213

"Hm. What is good for the fortress is good for us all. With such a surplus, maybe even your quarters shall receive some of your own."

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384221

Once inside, I'll deposit the Mica in a small bin with the uncut jewels.
"So. What do you want carved? Simple square, sphere, get it mounted in something?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384222

I poke him in the side.
"Brother, why are you still asleep?"

Campfire 384225

You cannot find any in the food storage area.

"Thank you for the offer, Master, but the other carpenters already decided to send my bad works there."

Koka [Monk] 384227

Frown a bit.
"A strawberry.
Can ya do it?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384228

"Donkeys not have pony body. Donkeys have body for pull cart."

Crunch [Knight] 384229

"Did they now? I may have to have a word with them…"

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384233

Then grab some bread and anything that might go with it and give some to Spring Green.
"So what does pony learn today about trap making and dogs?" I laid back and let out a stressed breath.
"Bark can tell he learns a little thing or two today too." I relax.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384234

"A… strawberry? You got somedog you've got an eye on, then?""

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384238

So is he gonna be NPC controlled or do I have to go get zulu?

Koka [Monk] 384240

"Nah. It's tah celebrate sumethin' big."
Leave the slice of bread in front of him.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384246

"A sandwich?"
I'll eye the thing quizzically.

Campfire 384249

"Well, it's the same basic shape, Master."

"Yes sir, they did."

You grab some bread and celery and return with it to the workshop. She starts munching on the celery.
"Taday I learned how to make stonefall traps, cage traps, buzzsaw traps, spike traps, and razor traps. I also learned how effective they can be. What I learned about diamond dogs is that they, or at least you, care very much for their slaves."

You would have to get zulu.

Campfire 384254

The donkey jack sticks his head into your workshop.
"Sir, when you have time the doctor wishes for you to meet with him."

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384263

Koka [Monk] 384264

10/10 taste sandwich with 10/10 preparation from expert cook.
I dunno how to describe that.
"See what' Ah mean?"

Boyar (Preacher) 384266

What's happening? Ask Prophecy, I suppose.

You should have told me you were running, Campfire.

Campfire 384269

Sorry, I thought you would check the general.

Crunch [Knight] 384270

"Well that is just wasteful. What do you see in it?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384272

I'll eat it, I guess. Probably a bit faster after first bite.
"Hmm. Good. So. Strawberry gem. Want it set in anything? Or on a length of chain?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384275

Koka [Monk] 384276

"Can ya make it a pendant? Fer collars and necklaces."

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384283

"Fine, fine. I'll set to cutting it after I check on my slave in the hospital. This could be about her eye injury. Just leave the gem here and it'll be first thing made. I'll pass it along to another slave once it's finished."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384290

I eat my food, then look at her.
"Bark must care for his slave because she must be healthy if I need help."

I then pause for a moment.
"And if I need pony."
I then wipe my mouth and my paws then arrange the bed.

Koka [Monk] 384291

"Thank ya!"
Grin and be off.
I'll pause here for tonight.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384297

"Ah Brother, now you finally wake."
I show him my paw.
"Can you heal this?"

Boyar (Preacher) 384307

"Of course."

"What did you do to it?"

Roll #1 4 = 4

Campfire 384332

"How is it wasteful, Master? The furniture was not of good enough quality to be sold or given to diamond dogs, so it was sent to the slave quarters or turned into firewood."

She waves a hoof at you.

Are you going to the hospital?

She tenses up when you say the last part.
"I live to serve, Master."

You aren't able to summon enough power so soon after waking up.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384338

I am. Heading to the hospital to see what that doctor wants to tell me about.
It had better be "her eye is all better, take her home."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384339

If I need to get my bandages checked, yes.

Aidi [DD Knight/Trapsmith/Farmer] 384346

Seeing as how I missed Barkspawn at the Barracks, let just go and let off some steam by doing one of two things:

Build the archery range they wanted.
Practice with a crossbow. I need to be able to defend myself while outside.

Roll #1 3 = 3

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384347

"Woodworking accident… and metalworking accident… are you awake enough, Brother? Do you want to go get some food first?"

Campfire 384354

He cheerfully greets you.
"There you are, Pom. Did you know that Gem was pregnant?"

I failed at responding to Fidget's post
Your wounds hurt a little bit but your slave hasn't said anything about you going back to the hospital yet.

You get the archery range put together with the help of a few others. You start shooting and the bitch that found you in the cage joins you and promptly starts outshouting you.
"You don't get too much practice, do you?"

Crunch [Knight] 384355

"The fortress is more than our home. Anything that makes it look bad should be taken care of as soon as we are able. Besides, I don't want you hurt because of shoddy work."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384358

I then go and hop in the bed.
"Come. We have tomorrow to worry about." I open the blanket.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384360

I'll just give him a flat stare.

Boyar (Preacher) 384366

Give healing another try.

"Give me a moment, brother. Heh."

Roll #1 9 = 9

Aidi [DD Knight/Trapsmith/Farmer] 384371

"No. I'm usually working the farms with the buffalo slave, or negotiating with the caravans that come. I want to learn how to fight so I can venture into the woods by myself and get things I need for them, not to mention that most dogs only accept strength as a redeeming factor, not a quick wit or a head for numbers. You seem pretty good with that bow, can you give me a few lessons while I'm here?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384374

Look at my bandages, then at her.
"Bandages hurt."

Campfire 384402

"Do not worry, Master, I know which beds are the safest to sleep in."

She slowly walks over to the bed and hops in.

He laughs.
"That's the same face I made. I thought she was fat because you were spoiling her, but then her water broke while I was changing her bandages. Anyways, long story short: It's a colt."

You get it this time. The stitches fall out as the line on his paw vanishes.

"Sure thing."
She leans her bow against a wall and tries to move you arms and body so that you have a better firing stance.
"So of us are smart enough to appreciate a dog with quick wit and booksmarts, you know."

She finishes her little project with the leather strap and put it on her head. the way she has it tied lets the gem sit on her forehead above and between her eyes.
"Follow me to the hospital, Master."

Roll #1 7 = 7

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384406

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384411

I let out a small, relieved smile.
"Ah, thank you brother."
I sigh immediately after though.

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384416

Seeing her tensing up. I brush her mane and breath out out of stress.
"Bark is stressed but if pony dont want to couple with him then Bark will just cuddle to sleep."

Crunch [Knight] 384417

"But do the other slaves?"

Aidi [DD Knight/Trapsmith/Farmer] 384418

"Like this, right?"

Take a shot with the bow.

Roll #1 10 = 10

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384423

I nod and follow her.
Point at that thing on her head.

Boyar (Preacher) 384425

"You are welcome. I need to find Prophecy and find out what requires my attention."

Find Prophecy.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384440

I nod and depart as well.
I return to the woodworkers shop and try to craft out another puzzlebox.

Roll #1 9 = 9

Campfire 384474

"I'm saying that you've got an infant colt as a slave now, as well as Gem. Of course, to make good use of their of them you will have to wait until the colt is weened, but it's not like any of us are going anywhere."

"I-I live too serve, Master, and will do whatever you wish. It's just-just that…"
She trails off and stairs at the wall.

She applauds as your arrow strikes the bullseye.
"Perfect! Now do it again to prove it wasn't luck."

She looks over her shoulder and grins at you.
"It goes well with my eyes, doesn't it, Master? You want your slave to look pretty, don't you? Master surely does not want the other diamond dogs making fun of him because he has an ugly slave, right?"

You find him inspecting the above ground farms.
"Did you have a nice nap, Alpha?"

You make a puzzlebox. The thing will take quite a bit off work to solve.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384483

I'll pinch the bridge of my nose for a moment, and sigh.
"That will have her out of the shop even more, then."
Shaking my head, I'll continue.
"No matter. I may as well pay her a visit while I'm here. If you'd lead me to her."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384484

I narrow my eyes.
"No… they think dig dogs not good as them. Kopaz has not ugly slave! Zebra say they not laugh at Kopaz?"

Boyar (Preacher) 384487

"Indeed I did. Thank you for asking.

"What needs my attention, Prophecy? Did the new beds and chests reach the militia? What about the new weapons and armor?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384489

Actually, I go find Boyar again.

Anonymous 384493

"How mean."

Roll #1 3 = 3

Chip(DD knight) 384516

"just that?" I stare at her.

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384518

Campfire 384534

"So long as she is fit to receive visitors. She is a new mother, after all. Wait here."
He leaves, then comes back a minute later.
"Come on, but try not to make any loud noises."
He leads you to one of the back rooms. Gem is curled up next to a small colt swaddled in a blanket. She smiles at you when you enter the room.

"Not for having an ugly slave, no Master. Please come, the doctor should look at your bandages."

"The new beds and chest have reach the militia. Your bother has been making a few weapons and pieces of armor with his slaves, but he seems more interested in treating them like people than working from what I hear. The masons and siege engineers would like to have a word with your about creating a more defensible fortress. A few of the infant pups are old enough to leave their mothers' arms and wander around the fortress on their own, so you might want to at least check up on them or their parents."
He cuts a tall stalk of something that is growing in the farm plot, strips its leaves, then cracks it in two and offers and half to you.
"Taste this and tell me what you think."

Boyar is talking with Prophecy in the above ground farm plots.

Your arrow goes wide and hits the berm behind the target.
"Oooh, too bad. Try again."

She rolls over to face you, blushing.
"It's just that…when they taught us how to provide companion they trained me and the other females on Runts. They did that so they would not have to worry about us becoming, um, loose."
She looks you up and down again and gulps.
"You are a dig dog. Do you see why I am worried?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384538

"Brother? Are you busy?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384540

I smile, nod and follow.
"Good slave."

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 384542

Sorry, I had to switch PC's.

"Okay, let's see if I can remember how you did it."

Roll #1 8 = 8

Boyar (Preacher) 384544

"Hm. I'll talk to my brother, then, thank you."

"But first I'll go the masons and engineers."

Go see 'em (though I suppose I'll also wait for Moloch to talk to me).

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384547

Quietly, I'll speak.
"Why didn't you tell me you were with foal? Or that you needed to have something arranged?"
Looking at the colt, can I tell which of the two unicorns is the father? '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384554

I give a frown.
"Then pony and me test it for now. If it dont work out then we rest and find way to work it out slowly.in future."
I then measure her up and look at myself. Is it possible?

Roll #1 8 = 8

Campfire 384563

She smiles at you. You are now both in the hospital. Your slave explains to the donkey jack why you are hear and he sends you back to ht unicorn stallion, who starts to change your bandages.

Your arrow strikes the target again, but does not land in the center.
"Very good. How many times have you used a bow before?"

He nods and sucks on the stalk he broke in half.
They are ready when you are.

You have no idea. He looks like the unicorn Moloch owns, but he also looks like the one the doctor owns. All unicorns look the same, man.

She stays still as you take measurements with a finger or three. It will be a tight fit, but you shouldn't do any damage so long as you don't do anything wild with her.
"M-Master? What is your decision?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384568

"Ah, Brother.
I finished up a few sets of armor that you requested and I was wondering about your opinion of them. Would you mind following me?"
I show him the 10/10 silver armor and whatever else I've made.
"Some is… not the highest quality, I'll admit."

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 384569

"None. In the old fort, I was just another dog, so I made do with an axe and a plank of wood that called itself a buckler. Since I've been farminf though, I thought I should learn to properly defend myself and my slaves."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384570

"Dog doc where?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384575

"Still, despite it, you both appear to be healthy. That's good. I'll need to arrange bedding."
I'll think for a moment.
"Might need larger quarters. Near the shop, maybe. Yes, that will do."
I'll continue thinking.
"Who sired it? Need to know who to speak to to make sure they ask next time."

Boyar (Preacher) 384583

Yeah, I follow.

"This suit of armor is outstanding, Moloch! What are your plans for it?"

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384584

I stroke her mane.
"Bark will take care of Spring. Bark promise."
I hug her tight at the back as I slowly mount her and see if I can fit in.

Roll #1 1 = 1

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384589

"Erm… silver isn't exactly the most useful material for armor. More suited for swords. This is more of a show piece than anything else."
Also I think it's just a breastplate. One ingot just makes one piece of armor.

Boyar (Preacher) 384604

"Oh, I'm sure, but it's an exquisite example of craftsdogship. Good work, Moloch. Perhaps we can display this somewhere. I think we've been needing a chapel dedicated to our god, and this would make an excellent part of the altar, I think."

Campfire 384605

Aisde from the 10/10 silver armor there are a couple of silver warhammers, some good quality bronze swords, and some not so good quality bronze armor pieces.

"Well, you certainly are a natural."
She leans against the wall.
"Keep on shooting."

"Attending to a newborn, sir."
He places a fresh bandage over the last of your puncture wounds.
"Please sleep on your back tonight, sir, and come back in the morning to have your bandages changed."

She looks away.
"I do not know, Master. It was dark, you see."

She does her best to stand and present herself even as your weight presses down on her. She grits her teeth as you press against her entrance, and grinds them as your slowly start to slide. Her back legs start to wobble as tears form in her eyes. She tries to tell you stop, but before you can her legs collapse and both of you crash down on the bed. You can hear her wail as you are not so gently ripped out of her by the fall.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384610

I nod to my slave.

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384611

I hug her close and try to comfort her..
"Barks Sorry." I grit my teeth.

See the damage.

Roll #1 10 = 10

Boyar (Preacher) 384612

"Hm, these armor pieces don't look up to snuff, though. We need something a bit better for the troops. Try again, if you please, Moloch."

"The weapons, however, seem more than adequate. You should deliver those to the militia when you get the chance."

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384613

I rub the back of my head.
"That would be… rather nice, to have my forgedogship displayed like that.

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384615

use that >10 for first aid or something

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384616

I nod.
"Alright then."

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 384617

"Alright, but I'm still not all that certain about this."

Roll #1 3 = 3

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384619

"Then there is no helping it. Still, in the future, do remember I said that I would arrange such things if the need strikes. Once you are healed, and the foal is strong enough to walk without assistance, we will continue your training. Is that clear?"

Campfire 384630

"Yes, Master. How do you wish to relax now?"

She whimpers a little as you lift her with a paw and move her tail to the side with the other. You cannot spot any physical damage to her. In fact, she looks a little bit looser now. That should make things easier for you in the future.

You miss again.
"Want another lesson?"

"I am sorry, Master. You were asleep and it came upon me very suddenly. That is clear, Master. May I watch you work once my foal is has reached a few months of age?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384634

"…still no dig?"
I think for another moment.
"Count gems?"

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 384635

"Please and thank you. I won't be a burden to this fort and protect it with all I can."

Roll #1 7 = 7

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384637

"Certainly. I have arranged a few things to teach you once you are back and ready to work again."

Campfire 384645

She nods.
"That sounds fun. Do you want to go to the mine and see if there are gems that have not been taken to the carvers yet, Master?"

Rolling for teaching quality.

"I will be glad when I am able to learn from you, Master, and I will teach my son to be the same."

Roll #1 8 = 8

Campfire 384647

She moves you back into the proper position.
"Try again."
+1 bonus.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384648

I nod.
"Gems hurt Kopaz, but Kopaz not take many gems."
I look at her expectantly, waiting for her to lead.

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 384649

"Thank you.

I've been rolling to well recently, I'm scared.

Roll #1 8 + 1 = 9

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384650

I wrap her in the blanket and began stroking her mane to calm her down.
"Sorry pony. Tomorrow you rest and study my notes and on traps. I will teach you more about it and do the work. Hows that?" I look at her eyes.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384653

"Perhaps. He might have more talent in setting though, and you in cutting. Would be interesting to see. Until then, you are to rest and heal. How is your eye feeling?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384655

Well Boyar's done responding so I guess I'll return to my assistants.
I try to subtly peek inside without them seeing me.
How are they?

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 384656

Right, now that I have the time to spend on here again…

Where am I? I'll need to go talk to that guy I met when I arrived. Prophecy I think his name was.

Campfire 384657

"This way, Master."
She smirks at the unicorn as she catches him glowering at her gem and leads you back to the mines. you can see a few small barrels full of uncut gems of various colors.

You hit close to the bullseye again.
"Very good. If you can hit it five more times I think you will be good enough with a bow for me to give you one we have lying around.
I forgot to mention, if you miss more than twice in a row you loose your posture, and thus your +1 bonus.

Her breathing slows a little and she looks at you with teary eyes.
"How bad is it, Master? Do I need to go to the doctor?"

She frowns.
"I can still feel it sometimes, Master, even though it isn't there."

The stallion and zebra are playing a simple song with their flutes while the mare tries to sleep.

You are wandering around. You find him supervising some construction going on near the pit.
"Can I help you, dog?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384660

I walk inside.
"Hello assistants. How are we doing? I see that you two are progressing very well on your flutes. Are you enjoying them?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384661

Is there an overseer about?

Can I remember I am not supposed to dig?

Roll #1 5 = 5

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384662

I'll frown.
"What do you mean it isn't there? I thought the doctor was supposed to try and save it. And use that healerdog to fix the eye."

Boyar (Preacher) 384663

Go talk to the siege dogs.

"I understand you have some plans to improve the fort. Let's talk about that."

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 384665

"Thrown out of the hospital by that idiot doctor. Knocked me unconscious after botching a healing spell."

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 384667

"Let me make sure the string is taut."

Roll #1 3 + 1 = 4

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384676

"Nothing bad. No wound little pony. Bark's fault for being too excited." I hug her closer.

Campfire 384680

They nod. The unicorn gives his standard answer about slaves enjoying following their orders, but the zebra tacks on a comment about the two of them enjoying it more than the mare, who groans and presses the pillows further against her head.

You don't remember that you aren't supposed to dig, but your digging muscles hurt for some reason. It is night time, so you think the foredog is asleep. Dogs sleep at night, most of the time.

"I am sorry, Master, but the doctor said my eye had too much damage done to it for him to save it, and that the other doctor was asleep. He didn't wake up in tie and my eye had to be removed."

He raises an eyebrow.
"Really? How badly did you botch the spell?"

You start to tighten it, but the bitch stops you.
"Do you know what you are doing? The string is fine, if you mess with it and it snaps it cold send you to the hospital for a long time."

She nuzzles you a little.
"If-if Master wishes to continue I will obey."

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 384682

Try again.

Roll #1 2 + 1 = 3

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384683

"Earth? What don't you like about the flutes?"
I tilt my head at her.
"Oh! Also, I have another toy for yo- you to test!"
I show them the puzzle.

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384685

"Shh.. shh.. too much hurt for today, rest for now." I cuddle and try to sleep.

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 384687

I huff
"Very badly. A rare case of bad. Mend spell is high tier magic. Dog I used it on almost died."

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384689

I'll frown mightily.
"I see. Luckily, I had arranged for that potentiality. Unfortunately, this may effect your cutting, since depth perception is very important."
I'll sigh a bit.
"I will just have to teach you accordingly. Rest, and raise the foal well."
And then I'll let her rest. And go look for that healerdog.

Boyar (Preacher) 384690

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384700

Anyway, look at the gems.
Then at my slave.
"Think Kopaz can get gems? Kopaz dig them."

Campfire 384707

You manage to shoot the ceiling somehow.
"Want my help again?"

"You have not been listening to them play, Mistress."
The unicorn and zebra look a little hurt at her comment but cheer up when you show them the puzzlebox.
"What is it, Mistress? Are we to be making them for you?"

"Thank you, Master."
She turns back over and snuggles up to be your little spoon.

"Well that explains why he acted that way. I can't say I blame him."

She looks like she has something to say, but her colt wakes up and she shifts her attention to him. You find the healer dog outside talking to Prophesy.

You find a group of about nine dogs huddled around a table with some scrolls and candles on it. They stand as you enter.
"We're glad you finally came to see us, Alpha."
"We have a lot of plans for the improved fortress."
"The reason they're so big is because it's actually a new fortress. It will take a lot of work, but I'm sure it will be worth it."
"Yes, plenty of room for everyone, solid stone walls, plenty of room to expand. Everything a fortress really needs."

She shakes her head.
"Remember, Master? No digging. Maybe you can sort the gems by color?"

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 384708

"Please help me."

Roll #1 3 = 3

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384712

"They're just learning! Why, I'm certain that you'll enjoy it just as much if you had one. Would you like one, Earth?"
I turn to the other two.
"No, but I would like you to… test it out for me. Yes, test it out."

Boyar (Preacher) 384713

"So you want to build an entirely new fortress? Where?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384715

Cheap shot him. Either shin or behind the knee.
"You! Can't wake up to treat patients! My slave lost her eye! Do you know how important eyes are to gemcutters!?

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384720

Is pause near? If not then I might end up waking up.
Have a good night sleep and see if I will wake up in a good mood tomorrow.

Roll #1 3 = 3

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 384722

"Don't be foolish. That magic saved lives too. I am not going to work under a doctor who uses pre-historic healing methods."

I grunt and fall over
"Case in point. Could have saved eye. Other doctor knocked me unconscious. Reckless idiocy."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384726

I look at the barrels.
How mixed are they?

Roll #1 4 = 4

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384729

I'll just glare at this lazy doctor who does not care how he inconvenienced me.
"Now I will have to make her a false one, and we don't have any enchanters of any variety to make it actually work. I'm just lucky she was with foal, so that once it grows there is one to take over after a certain point."

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 384737

I glare at him
"Blame other doctor for knocking me unconscious and tying me up. Cannot mend that way. Would have wanted to perform my job but was prevented. I am sorry to hear she lost it."

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384741

"Nearly murdering your patient was cause enough to bind you. You healing my slave's eye was going to be the one chance I gave you to not be an incompetent. And you slept through it, though I told the doctor to give you that chance."

Campfire 384742

You miss again and she comes over to help you.

I've been questing for 12 hours now, sorry.
"I would love a flute if Mistress wants me to have one."
The unicorn thanks you and lifts the puzzlebox from your hands with his magic.

"Under the aquifer. We build the workshops four or five levels down to leave enough room for traps ad fortifications up top. Down below that by at least seven levels we can build the bedrooms, dining, and food preparation areas. We will also have plenty of room for all sorts of materials down below."
One of the mechanics takes a piece of paper from the pile and hands it to you. It shows a bunch off grey under a bunch of blue.
"If an invasion gets too bad we can seal off the fortress and flood the upper levels. Nothing could get through that."

I don't think the pause is near.
You blueballed yourself last night. You wake up with an annoying ache and a bad mood.

Prophesy grabs you and pulls you away from Lorik.
"Calm down, Pom."

"His methods have kept us all in one piece so far. If you don't want to work under him, fine. Work alongside him, or dig your own hospital area."

They are somewhere between pretty and confusing.

Prophecy's ears perk up.
"He did what?"

Roll #1 4 = 4 / Roll #2 1 = 1

Campfire 384743

"No, no, you have to loosen up a bit."
She tries again.

The unicorn stallion gives up after a few minutes and rubs his head.
"That is too confusing for me, Master. I am sorry."

Roll #1 6 = 6

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384745

I won't fight Prophesy. Mostly because he's bigger, and I don't have the element of surprise.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384746

Try to sort them by color then.

Roll #1 6 = 6

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384749

"Please, keep it. I would like to see the three of you work together to solve it."
I turn to Earth.
"And I'll make you a flute then. You three can be your own little band."
I chuckle.

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 384751

"We all make mistakes. Otherwise your 'slave' would not have lost her eye. Otherwise that pegasus I mended earlier would not have gotten wounded. Otherwise that runt wouldn't have gotten injured. But if I make a mistake, others suffer for it. I feel bad for it. Cannot ever make up for it. Wish I could, but I cannot."

"Tied me up. Could not move. Could not perform my job. Other suffered for it."

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 384753

Take a few breaths, and let it fly.

Roll #1 8 = 8

Boyar (Preacher) 384755

"Well, we are growing quickly…

"How soon could you begin plugging the aquifer and starting excavations?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384757

I'll just growl slightly.
"Will need to have words with the doctor. Was supposed to fix her eye, not take it out. And if you were the only one who could do it, he should have woken you up. You're at least teaching that unicorn aid healing magic, aren't you? It's what I assigned him there for."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384761

Just let her sleep on my bed. I stand up and ready myself and Spring some breakfast of bread and cheese. Before waking her up.
"How do pony feel?"

Campfire 384768

He sets you down with a command to not attack your packmates when he is watching.

It takes you hours, but you get them sorted into pile of pretty reds, pinks, oranges, greens, and blues. A pair of diamond dogs walking past with buckets of steamin water stop and look at you.
"You aren't mining, are you?"

There is a chorus of their usual response. One of them asks if it is time to rest or if you want them to get back to crafting things.

There is a loud thwok as it hits the target.
"Good. Four more."

"It was plugged a couple off years ago, Alpha. Plugging it is what gave us access to stone, gems, and metal."

She smiles.
"Much better, Master. I am glad neither of us were hurt."

Boyar (Preacher) 384773

"Oh, right. This aquifer. So, wait, then you'll just be digging further down, anyways, yes? Then go ahead. Make plans with the mining dogs and get started when you are ready."

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 384776

"Yes. Unicorns make for excellent healers. Glad to have him. Less glad to see he is a slave."

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384777

"I suppose it is time to rest for today. Best not overwork you."
I wait for them to all climb into bed, then I tuck them all in.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384779

Shake my head and point at the gems.
"Relax. Sort gems."

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 384780

"Here goes. Aim at the target, then aim a little higher to compensate, pull back, and let it fly."

Roll #1 8, 4, 10, 2 = 24

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384783

"What's wrong with him being a slave? What do you think one of our races main trade goods is?"

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384786

"Then stand up sleepy head, eat your breakfast and Bark will teach you, so that tomorrow we can install traps more efficiently and without accidents."
life her up from bed so that she can eat.

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 384792

"Hate slavery. Terrible practice. Slaves always have weakened mental states. Makes them less valuable than non-slaves. Free being much more valuable than a non-free being. Stronger of mind. Able to think outside box. Be independent. Create own ideas. Experiment."

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384794

"A good slave can still do those things. Especially if they are taken proper care of. Why do you think I'm teaching my slave the craft? Because I'm bored?"

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 384796

I chuckle
"Will never be as effective as a free mind. Don't worry, did not expect you to understand."

Campfire 384797

"Thank you for the goahead, Alpha. It should not take longer than a year and a half to get the entire fortress situated below the aquifer."

He frowns.
"I will talk to him about that."

They each wish you goodnight as you tuck them in.

"Thanks for that. Remember: No digging until the foredog says you can."
They disappear into the tunnels with their buckets.

"That's it."
She applauds each time your arrows strike.
"Can you give me two more hits?"
Remember your +1 bonus.

She smiles at you and eats her food.
"What will I do today, Master? Read your notes?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384801

I pull up something to sit on beside their beds.
"Would perhaps you like a bedtime story, Zebra, Earth, Brown?"

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 384802

"Yes ma'am."

I thought I had lost the +1 due to botching two rolls.

Roll #1 10 + 1 = 11 / Roll #2 9 + 1 = 10

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384803

"I'll take that as an insult."
And then, giving a small nod to Prophecy, I'll head back to my shop. I have a strawberry to carve. Pendant. '1d10+4'

Roll #1 8 + 4 = 12

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384806

"Bark will teach you more, Bark will show you dummy tools to practice on. Mostly incredibly dull and unsharpened blades, spikes and how to fit it in mechanism."

"And Bark will also teach you how to hide traps. Traps wont be traps if its obvious."

"Is pony ready?"

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384807

I nod.
My slave will remember that.
Take two of each colors of gems.

Then look at my slave.
"What buckets?"

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 384809

"Good. Had half the mind to look for a different fortress where failure does not mean banishment from practice."

"Not insult. Just observation. Slavery deeply ingrained in diamond dog culture. Few dogs agree with my ideas."

Boyar (Preacher) 384810

"Excellent. Keep me posted."

Going back to bed now. Thanks for running, Campy.

Campfire 384816

"…a what?"

Two in a row, sorry.
Her jaw drops as you manage to put two in the dead center of the target after hardly taking any time to aim.
"Keep the bow. It's yours."

You don't just carve a strawberry. You carve one of the freshly unearthed red gems into a strawberry and set that inside of a larger green gem.

"Ready, Master."

She shrugs.
"The water looked warm, so maybe they were filling a bath with water?"

"I want to hear his side of the story before I make any decisions, but failure will not mean you are banned from practicing unless you manage to kill a few of us."

"Will do."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384819

"Bath mines?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384820

"A story that is told before bedtime, to help a pu- a pony sleep. Doesn't that sound nice?"

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 384822

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384823

"Alright pony lets begin."
Step by step.
Teach her how to make simple traps, the mechanics, springs, etc. Show her hows its done and let her practice with very dull and old blades.

Roll #1 2 = 2

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 384824

"THANK YOU! Thank you! I promise to get really good with it."

I'll run off to my buffalo slaves to show it to them.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384827

I'll cock my head sideways for a moment as I look at this.
"Sandwich was probably better than I thought. Well, it's ready. Have to send it off in a bit."
Anyway, set it aside for now. Seems a shame to not sell it, but I gave my word as a craftsdog.

Campfire 384833

She shrugs again.
"wouldn't blame them if they made themselves a tub somewhere. Warm water is a lot more comfortable to bath in than one of the ponds."

They all look at each other.
"If Master wishes to tell us, we will listen."

I can keep going for at least half an hour, and I have stayed up for too late to make it to the morning service anyways.

She isn't getting anything from this lesson. All the basic things you are teaching her she already knows.

They look it over.
"It looks like a good bow, Mistress. Will you be going hunting?"

You do that.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384835

Look at her expectantly again.
"Room now? Count gems?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384837

Hmm. Still no gem large enough to make a mug… Guess I'll head back down to the mines. See if any larger ones have come up.

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 384838

Well no one is hurt, right? Feeling a little sluggish right now so I can't think of anything to do

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384840

Then teach her how to hide traps and how to make it unnoticaeble unless to those keen of senses.

>inb4 a low roll again

Roll #1 4 = 4

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 384842

"Not by myself. It's still pretty dangerous outside. Maybe when we can get a few more dogs to come out. For the mean time, let's go ahead and take care of you. I'll bring some food and we can enjoy it under the shade of our new Trade Depot. Oh, I almost forgot. How is the foal doing?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384846

"I do wish to tell you! So… hmm…"
I scratch my chin.
"Ah, tell me, have you three heard of… the story of… The Shepperd's Pu- er, Colt?"

Campfire 384848

"If you want to count them, and you know how to count, then sure. We could go back to your room too. We could do other things like explore, go see what those diamond dogs were up to, eat more food, or anything else you can think of."

You can either roll or give up and glue gems together to make a mug.

"I don't know of anyone that is hurt right now. Do whatever you want but try to stay in a place where you can be quickly found."

She knows the theory behind that, if not the execution.

"You mean the calf? Which one?"

"No, Master."

Lorik [Doctor/Cleric/Stonecrafter] 384851

Entering stand-by mode for now then, will go to bed soon

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384852

"Zebra can't count?"
Pause for a moment.
"Bucket dogs?"

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 384853

"How many are there? I remember the first one from the first pair of buffalo I bought. She's even been out foraging with her mother."

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384854

Oh sod it.
I'm too tired to rewrite something so I'll just roll. Maybe next time.

Roll #1 4 = 4

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384858

I smile with glee.
"Good pony, Bark thinks you know the basics. Tomorrow we will review it again before setting up another portion of the fortress and put traps in it. For now pony must rest."

I then look down for a moment.
"Does it still pain pony?" I give her a sad look.

Campfire 384863

"I can count, Master. I simply do not think you would have fun watching me count, however. The bucket dogs were the diamond dogs carrying the buckets, remember?"

"Two, now; the other cow gave birth. I am sorry, but I thought you had heard."

You tell them a traditional story told to diamond dog puppies. Not being diamond dog puppies, the deeper meaning of it goes over their heads. They thank you for the story and ask if they may sleep now.

"No, Master."
She is quiet for a few seconds.
"If you wish to try again, perhaps you could find a position that does not put all your weight on me?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384866

Pfft, feck that. Glue makes booze taste weird. '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 384870

They didn't even enjoy the story?
"Yes, you may sleep now. Goodnight, Earth, Zebra, Brown."
I head to bed myself for real too. 'Night

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384871

I shake my head.
"Kopaz want gems counted. Know how much gems."
I look towards the direction they went.
"What bucket dogs do?"

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 384872

"I've been so busy with other things I didn't even notice. Well, no more. From now on, you guys and the well being of this fortress are my Number One priorities."

With that, I am off, too.

Campfire 384874

Glue might be what you need, though. You could try bothering the dig dog playing with a few piles of gems if you are brave.

"Goodnight, Master."

"I do not know, Master. They could be washing something, or doing some sort of mining thing with the water."

"Thank you, Mistress."

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384875

I think for a moment.
"Do pony want to try it again? Perhaps give Bark a chance?" I frown and shake a bit, nervous about last night.

"I wont if pony dont want too."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384876

I start walking in the direction they went.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384878

I'm the gemcutter. What's that dog doing playing in my gems? That need cutting?
"Hey you, dig dog. I need a gem big enough to carve into a mug. You got any in that pile?"

Campfire 384881

"If Master wishes it, I will obey."

She stands and follows you. After a while you can hear some splashing water coming from up ahead.

He is already gone.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384883

Keep walking.
What's splashing?

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384885

Good. Then he won't mind me rooting through my pile of gems.
Any good ones? '1d10' Might be nice to have a backup in case one cracks.

Roll #1 8 = 8

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384892

I look at my notes for a moment, she knows all the basics which is good and she learns pretty fast. Perhaps I'll teach her how to make the big and complex one's on a later time. I then put my notes down and approach her.
"B.. Bark wants to make up with yesterday." I lower my gaze as I carry her to bed.
Lay in bed with her, this time side by side so she wont take my weight. Hug her tight while biting her ears, I then try to enter her slowly from behind.
>pls rng

Roll #1 10 = 10

Campfire 384894

You walk in on a couple off diamond dogs washing themselves off in a small pit while a mare dries herself off. They all stare at you and the zebra as the two of you walk into the room.

You find a nice blue on that should be big enough, and a backup that will be gi enough, but just barely.

Roll #1 9 = 9

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384896

Stare back.
Do I come to any sort of conclusion?

Roll #1 8 = 8

Campfire 384901

She lies against your chest as the little spoon and giggles as you nibble her ears. The giggling turns into a gasp then a moan as you press your large member against her folds and slowly enter her, hilting yourself wit the first thrust. Her training kicks in and her muscles start to massage you as a wing reaches up to caress your face.
4d10 to go. Roll it all at once or one at a time, either one is fine with me.

They were obviously bathing. They must be shy about bathing because they are all blushing.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384903

"Why bathe mines?"

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384905

Oh no

>pls rng

Roll #1 1, 4, 10, 7 = 22

Campfire 384906

"…to get clean?"
Your zebra snickers and the mare looks at the ground, blushing harder.

Roll #1 10, 9, 2, 3 = 24

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384908

"No bath in fort?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384912

Good. Take them.
…And a pocketfull of the rest. Then head back to the shop.
Time to craft me a mug. '1d10+4'

Roll #1 4 + 4 = 8

Campfire 384921

>65 out of 100
Her training you catches you off guard, and your efforts wane. She responds to this by rolling you both over and riding you backwards. She tries doing something with her wings, but you don;t enjoy it much. As things start to draw to a climax she starts to loose control of herself as you regain control and pin her under you in the same way you tried last night. She whinnies as she reaches her peak which drive you over the edge. The mare whine sin pain and pleasure as you finish and tie the two of your together.
You are both Helpless for the next 10 rounds. DC starts at 10 and goes down by one each turn. If either party rolls a 1 the DC and Helpless timer reset.

"…no? No there isn't."
One of the dogs dumps the last bucket of water on himself.

You take a fair number of the gems and start making your mug. It is difficult carving a gem like this, but you manage to make an impressive looking one.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384923

Point at the pony.
"Why bathe slave?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384924

…I could do better. Let's see if I can't pick up the spare. '1d10+4'
If it's better, I could let Gem use the other one.

Roll #1 4 + 4 = 8

Campfire 384927

The zebra snickers.
"Probably because she needed one."

It isn't better, but it is still functional.

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384929

Just cuddle with her and let it be.
"Is Spring Green happy?" I ask her in a worried tone

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384930

Tilt my head
"Slave had dirty job?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384932

I'll grump a bit.
"Oh well. Now I have something to drink from, at least."

Campfire 384935

She twitches and spasms softly every time you move or your heart beats.

The slave tries to sink into the floor as the two dogs share a glance.
"You could say that."
Your zebra cannot contain herself and lets out a guffaw before sticking a hoof in her mouth.

You certainly do.

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384936

Look at her.
"What laugh?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 384939

Well, I suppose all that's left to do today is make an order for some glass spheres, or at least some raw glass I can cut into sphere, get something to eat, and head to my dog bed.
Which has gotten cold without that oaf to take up half of it.
And that'll wrap it up for me.

Campfire 384940

"Nothing, Master. Nothing at all."

You do those things.

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384941

I bury my snout on her mane, feeling a bit warm and happy at her response.
I then look down at where we are connected and tied together. Try to pull and thug at it slowly(but dont force it out), am I really stuck inside this little pony?

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384942

After a few seconds of pondering.
"Zebra want bath?"

Campfire 384944

She clamps down when you try to pull out. You cannot see the bulge you are making inside her move at all as you try to pull out.
DC 8 to pull out.

It is her turn to blush now while the earth pony mare laughs along with the diamond dogs.
"I-I don't believe I will need one, Master."

Kopaz [Landkeeper] 384947

She lied… they are laughing.
"Zebra not dirty?"
Poke her in the side.
"Zebra needs to not ugly. Remember!"

Barkspawn(DD mi/tr/inq) 384949

Bury it inside her, no intenion on pulling out. Instead, cuddle her tight.
"Bark will sleep now, will Spring be able to sleep with us tied together." I groggily remark..

Campfire 384950

"I am not ugly or dirty, Master. We should go, you need bedrest, Master.""

She tries to thrust back against you, but is not in any fit state to be moving.
"Not a wink, Master."

Campfire 386654

It has been several days since word spread through the fortress that everything was to be relocated into the levels of stone under the aquifer. Many dogs are cheerful at the prospect of being surrounded by hard stone instead of flimsy clay and loam, but others are worried about having so much water above them, threatening to drown them all should a dog dig carelessly. The cool of spring is started to turn into the heat of summer. Birds and bugs buzz through the trees and small farm started above the surface while pups climb and play on the large mounds of stone unearthed by the working dogs.

Players, begin wherever.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386655

Is my slave out of the hospital yet?

Aidi [DD Knight] 386656

"Good Morning, everyone."

Let's get started by checking on our farm slaves. How many are available and how many traps do I have at my disposal?

Barkspawn(DD trapper/inq/min) 386657

Double check our traps and gears.
"Are you ready to place traps Green?" I look at my pony.

Campfire 386658

She has been released to your quarters, but is in no state to do any work. She can watch you work though, provided you work quietly enough to not upset the foal.

All the male buffalo are available for work. The first female acquired is caring for second calf and the second female acquired is caring for her first calf. There are several cage traps at your disposal, as well as the materials to make sawblade traps and spike traps.

Her face scrunches in pain.
"I-I think-IthinkIneedtogotothehospital!"

Aidi [DD KnightTrapFarmerBroker] 386659

"Everyone who can go out, let's work around the trade depot. I want to make sure that whole area is completed. We'll work other things afterwards."

Let's go ahead and put down the cage traps near the entrance to the Caravan port.

Roll #1 10 + 2 = 12

Barkspawn(DD trapper/inq/min) 386660

I stare at her?
"Whats wrong pony? Is there a problem? Let ark see." I approach her and check her out.I then read y the cart to carry her easily to the healers.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386661

Then I suppose I can teach her to polish gems. That's quiet work.
Though… hmm. I'll need something to distract the child once it's grown enough to be a nuisance before becoming helpful.
Being a unicorn, he might be able to pick up at least basic first aid from the hospital area.
I'll shake my head. Time to worry about such things later.
"Gem, I'm going to the shop to cut stones. I'll bring a few back to be polished so you don't wither of boredom. And I could set a few as a refresher for you."

Campfire 386662

With quite a bit of work, and plenty of help from the buffaloes, you manage to break apart the cages and refashion them in a way that they will spring out of the dirt and capture anything heavy enough to trigger them and small enough to fit inside.

You aren't sure what is wrong, but from the looks of things it may have something to do with the way you have been using her at night. You load her in the cart and push her to the healers. When the doctor sees her he pushes you out of the way, grabs the cart, and runs into the back area while yelling for his slaves. You are now alone in the hospital waiting room.

She smiles.
"Thank you for finding me simple work, Master."

Barkspawn(DD trapper/inq/min) 386663

Look and follow them a bit to the back area, can I eavesdrop or can I ask someone what happened?

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386664

"Simple work might be all that's left for you, with one eye. Depth perception is dreadfully important to gemcutters."
I'll rub my chin for a moment.
"But slightly less so for gem setters. Teaching you to just set gems would actually make things a bit easier on me, as I could pass them along to you and keep cutting."
I'll nod.
"It's decided, then. You shall be my setter, after enough training and the foal is of age to start learning skills of his own. He'll need a trinket as well, to signify I own him."
I'll take another look at the colt. What's he look like?

Campfire 386665

Roll #1 6 = 6

Aidi [DD KnightTrapFarmerBroker] 386667

"Yes, security measures are in place. With all the expansion of the caves, it might end up safer and more secure to keep the slaves in here. Thanks for the help, I'll make sure to get everyone here something nice from the kitchen."

Let's go to the kitchen and see what we can find that the buffaloes would like. At the same time, let's check on our food stores and see if there is anything we need.

Campfire 386668

File: 1364958029017.png (2.44 KB, 1756x49, Gem's son.png)

She smiles again.
"Thank you, Master."
The colt looks like this.

The unicorn is supporting the mare's weight with his magic as she lies belly down on a hospital bed while the doctor and his donkey slave gather towels and warm water. They don't notice you watching.

In the kitchen you can find some hearty meat dishes, some raw fruits and vegetables, some prepared organs, and a few pieces of bread with strawberries on them.

Barkspawn(DD trapper/inq/min) 386669

I watch from the back and see what they are doing.

Aidi [DD KnightTrapFarmerBroker] 386670

Let's grab some fruits then. Delicious and nutritious. Let's go check if there are any available slaves on our way back. We can try to get our fields producing at maximum right now.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386671

"I think I shall call him Luster, which is an important part of a Gem's quality."
I'll nod.
"I will be back. If you need to eat, do not worry about asking to fetch food. You are allowed."
And then I'll head to the shop. There are still some of those blue gems left from that pile I lifted from, right?

Campfire 386672

You keep watching. Your dig dog brain is too slow to figure out what is happening until after it has already started. As you stand there, peaking through the doorway, you witness the terrible, horrifying, disgusting miracle of life.

The sign out sheet for public slaves says that both goats have been taken to help haul stone out of the excavated area. All the male buffalo are both available and trained in farming.

"It's a good name, Master."
There are some of the blue gems left, yes. There has also been a delivery of red ones, orange ones, and white ones that you have not seen yet at this fortress.

Barkspawn(DD trapper/inq/min) 386673

My eyes widen in shock.
"WHAT!?" I stand there surprised and shocked.

Aidi [DD KnightTrapFarmerBroker] 386674

I'll leave a note to the current head of the slave department asking if he needs anything.

"Let's get the treats for the buffalos and get my weapons ready. It's time."

What do I need to gather seeds and bees?

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386675

Interesting. If that raw glass arrived, I can work on that eye while I'm here as well.
Lessee… I'll take a blue gem and turn it over in my paws a few times.
"You'll do."
Since Gem got a sphere on her locket, I'll give Luster a diamond-shaped one. '1d10+4' to cut the stone.

Roll #1 4 + 4 = 8

Campfire 386676

You are surrounded by glowing light and float back out to the waiting room. A quickly scrawled note follows you into the room and lands in front of you.

Plants need to be harvested from the above ground farms and you need too find a beehive and somehow transport the bees into the hivebox.

No raw glass, unfortunately. The gem you cut looks pretty good, but you have cut better looking ones.

Barkspawn(DD trapper/inq/min) 386677

Read the note.
>inb4 I cant read
>I dont know if I can read
>read it anyway.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386678

Way back when I got Gem, I put the first gem she carved into a craft that I had brought along. For RP sake, I said it was a locket, so I could put her identification in it.
"It'll do."
Let's see if I can't find another locket in the bin of goods to be bedazzled. '1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

Campfire 386679

The note takes your slow mind a few minutes to puzzle out, but you are finally able to understand it.
I will be out in a few minutes.
You hear the doctor walk into the waiting room.
"Let me guess, Barkspawn. You didn't know she was pregnant?"

I remember now.
You find a golden locket in the shape of a pony skull bring crushed by a diamond dog paw.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386680

I wake up.
How are my assistants?

Aidi [DD KnightTrapFarmerBroker] 386681

Do we have any spare jars then? Anything we used to transport small items?

How do I go about becoming an herbalist, then?

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386682

I'll look at that for a second.
Then toss it back. Diamond-shaped wouldn't fit in it anyway. Gotta be a better one. '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

Barkspawn(DD trapper/inq/min) 386683

I nod at the doctor.
"Bark…. didnt expect pony would get pregnant. Bark dont know its possible." I look down.

Campfire 386684

They are awake and quietly making their beds.

There are a few leather backpacks. They were originally made for the militia, but too many backpacks got made. You also see some glass vials with stoppers.
Farmer covers that.

Looks like that is the only one.

Roll #1 2 = 2

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386685

I yawn.
"Good morning assistants. How are you feeling today?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386686

Bah. Shape's wrong. Go to metalcrafter's, bring the gem with me.
"Ho, smithdogs. I've a craft request, if you've got the time for it."

Campfire 386687

>the implications go over his head
He groans and presses his paws against his face.
"Do I really have to explain this to a fullgrown dog? Fine. You see, Barkspawn, when a male pony and a female pony have sex, sometimes the female pony gets pregnant, and then later gives birth to a foal."

Barkspawn(DD trapper/inq/min) 386688

"Wha? Bark mea…"
My eyes widen.
"You mean its not Bark baby? That somepony is doing it with Spring at Bark's back?"

Campfire 386689

They answer in a monotone chorus.
"Ready for work, Master."

"Time? We got it."
"What do ya want, ya wee littl' dog?"

He gives you a disgusted look.
"No, Bark, it isn't yours. Did you only get her recently? She and the pegasus stallion spent at least a year with each other in the slave pins, so I am surprised this hasn't happened already."

Anonymous 386690

File: 1364960036699.jpg (67.27 KB, 500x303, This, but with a bow.jpg)

Then let's feed the buffalos, grab the axe and shield and bow, grab the backpacks and materials, and head off into the woods.

Sorry, laptop issues.

Aidi here.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386692

I start to frown, but quickly catch myself and give a half hearted smile.
"Well… I suppose we should start with our day then."
And then I head to breakfast and gesture for them to follow.

Barkspawn(DD trapper/inq/min) 386693

I scratch my head, realizing my own stupidity.
"Bark…. dont know. If Bark has known, then he should have let pony slave rest, which Bark would let her after birth."

I then look up at the doctor.
"What happen to Spring foal?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386694

"Golden locket, large enough to fit this gem," I'll hold out the cut one I've brought to one of the metalcrafters. "And the chain will need to be replaced at odd intervals once my slave's spawn hits its growth period. I don't like leaving my property unmarked. Gives somedogs funny ideas."

Campfire 386695

You recruit a few dogs to help you carry more slave chow to the pin for the buffaloes. After that you arm up and lead the buffaloes wit the backpacks and other things into the woods south of the fortress. It is very quite here, compared to the constant din of the fortress.

They follow you to breakfast and grab some plates of slave chow while the unicorn offers to carry your things for you.

"At least you aren't a complete dunce. Letting her rest for a few months is a good idea. The ownership of the foal will have to be decided by the Alpha in this case. There is only one male pegasus in the fortress, so whoever own him can lay claim to the foal. If his owner doesn't want it then the foal belongs to you."

"Gold for a slave, eh? Can't find a bitch your size?"
"E's just jokin'. Gold should be doable, but well be using our only bar so you'll be owin' us a favor. Deal?"

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386696

"Okay everyone, keep close. Give me the seeds of whatever you find edible, and keep an eye out for bees."

Roll #1 1 = 1

Barkspawn(DD trapper/inq/min) 386697

I nod.
"Is she alright, if allowed Bark will let he rest in workshop and care for her until she is well rested before letting her work again."

If so, carry her to the workshop, let her rest in the bed, feed her, call doctor if there is a problem etc until Spring Green is fully rested. Laying traps and mining will have to wait

Gonna sleep now. until next time?
Also when will next DDF run?.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386698

"Our only bar? Bah. Nevermind then. Silver. We've plenty of that, right?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386699

"No, it's quite alright."
I find a table and have them all sit down next to me as we eat.
Do they at least enjoy the food?…

Campfire 386700

The bees find you. Well, not bees; giant ground hornets might bee closer to the truth. And it might have been your foot that found their nest, instead of them finding you. That isn't important, though. What is important is that there is a swarm of hornets the size of your large diamond dog fist swarming out of the ground around you and your buffalo slaves.

He stops you.
"Leave here here for a couple of weeks, at least. I will come find you when it is safe for her to you with her foal. Also…wait a few months before doing anything that might confuse you as to the parentage of any of her future foals, okay?"
This weekend, probably.

"Well, more like half a ton."

I sigh and get up, finished with my meal.
"Now, shall we get started on the work day?"
Then I take all of our dishes and deposit them, then go to the workshop.
"Now… where'd that list go…"
I look for the list of things to make.

Campfire 386707

The four of you manage to get away from the swarm. One buffalo gets some hornets stuck in his coat, but another one rams him and knocks them off. All of you dive into a pond and stay submerged until the buzzing goes away.

"Not too long. 'Ave you seen what the masons are up to under the aquifer? If you don' 'ave any jobs tha' need doin' it may be worth checkin' out."

For the milita:
10 pairs of high boots, best metal available.
10 pairs of gauntlets, best metal available.
4 helms, best metal available.
10 pairs of greaves, best metal available.

For trade:
Silver halberds, as many as can be made.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386708

I'll nod slightly.
"Do you need the gem for sizing, or do you think you can eyeball it?"

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386709

"This is freshwater, right? I guess it can count as a relaxing bath for the moment."

After enjoying our impromptu bath, lets carry on.

Let's get dangerous and catch what we can without setting off their alarms.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386713

Now, metal inventory.
While I do that, I give Earth her flute and request that the other two teach her how to play.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386714

I'll soft-toss them the gem.
"I'll be back after I check on what's going down below the aquifer."
And away I go, down below.

Campfire 386715

Speaking of danger, did you know that giant hornets sound a lot like bees if you are a long way off? Luckily, one of the buffalo is able to stop you before you all get too close.

You only have to travel two levels down to find where the construction is taking place. To the south of the staircase a path nearly wide enough for two caravan wagon to travel side by side has been cut into the rock. Branching out to the east is a large room that is still being dug by four dogs while a fifth one watches. She walks over to greet you.
"Hell, Pom Rainian, right? Are you hear to collect any gems they find while dinging this room?"

Four metric shittons of copper, one shitton of silver, and some metal bars that are only useful for crafts or furniture.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386716

"Not currently. Though them being brought to the gem stock would be welcome when they're found."
I'll overlook construction.
"Seems to be going well so far."
My ears will flick back a moment.
"I don't believe we've met. And I'm fairly certain I'm not famed for anything."

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386717

"Thanks for the save. Let's keep looking until we can find what we came for. Don't forget to look for edible plants."

Roll #1 4 = 4

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386718

Do I know when the next trade caravan will be coming?
I need to start making some stronger alloys. Bronze, or maybe even Steel.
Also, how are my assistants at the moment? Enjoying themselves hopefully?

Campfire 386719

She sticks out a paw towards you.
"Earth Songpost, mason. I'm overseeing the basic construction of the entryway to the new fortress, which means I will be supervising the clearing out of a small section of this level and the one below it."
She grins and her tail starts wagging as she looks at the digging dogs.
"It's my first time doing something like this, so I'm pretty excited."

The four of you wander around randomly through the forest. You find a few abandoned beehives, but no bees.

If you had to guess you would say a zebra caravan will be getting here in a few days, maybe. You know that Bronze will need both copper and tin, the last of which you have none of. You also know that steel will need iron, iron that has been refined into pig iron, and a flux stone such as limestone. Unfortunately, the fortress only possesses one bar of pig iron. The slaves are preparing the forge for a day of making things.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386720

I asked them to teach Earth how to use the flute! Ah whatever. Never mind that.
Also I have the wiki open you know! I know all the recipes for these things
I suppose I might as well make some silver halberds while I await the caravan.
Rolling to make a few with help.

Roll #1 4, 10, 10, 10, 9 = 43

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386721

"Let's keep looking. Who knows what we'll find out here."

Roll #1 9 = 9

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386722

"Just remember not to let the excitement get to your head. Last thing we need is for one of those dogs to dig the wrong way and flood the fortress."
I'll rub my chin a little as I look around again.
"Coming along nicely, though. Wide enough for trade, I see. Should have less trouble with theft that way."

Campfire 386723

Missed that, sorry.
The stallions are busy blowing on metal rods while the mare watches with interest. They stop once you start forging halberds. With their help you are able to salvage the first halberd you make into a good looking weapon. The next three are absolutely perfect and the fifth one is nearly perfect. The slaves look like they learned some things from you making those three perfect halberds.

You spot a bee flying through the air and follow it with your entourage. Before long it leads you to a tree with a large knothole, within which you can see many, many bees.

She grins.
"Even less trouble if we can get a goat or gryphon trained to fight and stand guard here. The drawbridge should help some too."

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386724

"Let's get as many as we can!"

Roll #1 3 = 3

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386725

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386726

After they all cool, I excitedly look over the products, marveling in how well they came out, and grab my three assistants into a tight hug.
"These came out perfect! Absolutely perfect! I could not have done with without your help!"

Campfire 386727

The bees sting you whenever you get close. Your buffalo slaves might be wooly, but they find out the hard way that their noses are exposed to the bees as they try to get to the hive.

"You know, a bridge that goes up?"
She demonstrates the act of a raising bridge with her arm.

They each smile at your praise.
"We are glad to have helped Master make these things."

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386728

"I know that."
I'll wave it off in mild irritation.
"But what's it doing down here, instead of over water, or a hole?"

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386729

"Just a little longer, and then we leave!"

Roll #1 1 = 1

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386730

I continue hugging them tightly.
"Really, this is just… this is excellent! Absolutely excellent! Everyone is going to be incredibly pleased by these! Why… something of this quality deserves a reward!"
I smile at them.
"Do the three of you have anything that you want?"

Boyar (Preacher) 386731

Find Prophecy. What needs doing? Have the miners and engineers started working on the new fortress excavations?

Campfire 386732

"The layer below this…"
She stamps on the ground a few times.
"…will be dug out. During times of peace the drawbridge will be lowered and there will be a wide path to let dogs and caravans quickly come and go, north to south and south to north. If we ever come under attack, the drawbridge goes up and leaves a winding walkway to the east as the only way across. The walkway will be narrow enough that most things will have to walk single file while being fired on by ballistas from the east and archers from the north or south, depending on what the other masons decide. If the intruders fall off the walkway they land in a pit, and their only way back up is a staircase that takes them back to the beginning of it."
She frowns.
"The only thing we are having trouble with is figuring out how to bring enough water down from the aquifer to wash away the blood, but not enough to start a flood. Also: breaching the aquifer from below will be a challenge."

A bee stings your tongue and leaves you unable to speak clearly.

You can see a bit of the old them return as you hug them.
"We only want to serve you, Master."

"Ah, Alpha, have you seen the excavations yet? I looked over the plans that the masons and siege engineers drew up and I must say I am impressed. You may wish to talk with the craftsdogs and farmers and see how they would like their new workplaces laid out once it is time to move. Another thing to do would be to start dreaming up the new dining hall and residential areas, as well as an area to entomb our packmates once they die."

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386733

I finally release them, still smiling.
"Very well… I suppose we shall continue working then."
I continue to make more with their aid.

Roll #1 3, 10, 4, 7, 10 = 34

Boyar (Preacher) 386734

"Thank you, Prophecy."

Let's go talk to the farmers. What will they need?

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386735

"Well, as long as the floodgate switch is in a place that won't be cut off by the flow of water, you could just set that up and dig a channel. It probably won't be fun for the dog who has to pick that last spot once everything's set up, but it might work. We'd need drainage, too."

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386736

Cazh tha B fis!"

Roll #1 9 = 9

Campfire 386737

They try to help you with your two failed ones.

Roll #1 2, 4, 5 = 11

Campfire 386738

The buffaloes manage to understand you and start trying to catch the bees with their backpacks and vials.

Roll #1 10, 6, 2 = 18

Campfire 386739

"The new farm? We want our own area that won't have diamond dogs walking through it at all times of the day and night. We want plenty of room to grow as much as we can, we want rooms nearby set aside for our workshops, and we want a nearby stockpile that is only for our tools, seeds, and the produce that isn't going to the kitchen."

She nods.
"The drain is a bit simpler. All we need to do is let gravity carry the water away from the fortress then build some pumps to bring it up a few levels. Putting a drop in a few levels high before it reaches the evaporation pool should deter any clever invaders."

Even with their help two of the halberds will have to be melted back down to be remade. However, one looks fairly goo and two more are perfect. The slaves don't seem as upset as they normally do about the failed halberds, but they still apologize.

One buffalo gets smart and gores part of the tree with his horn, then throws part of the hive into his backpack. Another one starts swinging his through the air and manages to catch some bees. The third one drops his backpack and dives to the ground with his hooves over his face while screaming.

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386740

"Ge ouw!"
"Ge ouw!"

Let's go back, but keep an eye out for possible edible plants.

Roll #1 3 = 3

Boyar (Preacher) 386741

"I'll see what I can do. Space shouldn't be at as much of a premium as here, I hope."

Okay let's check out the craftsdogs. Carpenters, masons, etc. What do they want?

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386742

"Sounds like you've got everything well in paw down here. Keep Prophecy up to date on your progress. The Alpha's practically useless when it comes to construction and expansion projects."

Moloch 386743

"Please, it really is no problem at all. The excellent halberds you assisted me in making more than make up for it!"
I give them a warm smile and prepare the forge for another batch.
This time… we all each make one by ourselves. I want to see how my assistants fare on their own. Four total, one by me, three by the three of them.

Roll #1 6 = 6

Campfire 386744

It's hard to see with tears filling all of your eyes. Bee stings really hurt.

"We want our own level, just like we have here. The only things we want different are large stockpiles nearby where we can get raw materials and pplace finished goods. We also don't want to be anywhere near the dining or residential areas so we stop disturbing them with the noise we make."

She snorts.
"That he is. You might want to check out the lower portions of the mine and see if you can find anything you want.. We might be cutting that section off and starting a new one on the safe side of the bridge."

Roll #1 8, 3, 4 = 15

Campfire 386745

The unicorn makes a functional looking halberd, but the other two fail to make anything that won't need to be melted down later.

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386746

Keep it under control, it looks bad to the slaves to see us cry. Keep looking for edible plants on our way back.

Roll #1 8 = 8

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386747

"Any gem deposits that way? Might swing by and see if there are any more of those white gems that turned up. Might be interesting to carve."

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386748

This is as good a place as any.
"Hmm… perhaps you would like to give it another try, Zebra and Earth?"
While they do that, I attempt to teach Brown how to engrave.

Roll #1 9 = 9

Campfire 386749

Campfire 386931

You find some tasty looking berries and take them, and the bush, with you.

"The last I heard they all got dug out, but you might want to dig around and see if you can find any."

Brown listens carefully as you teach.

Roll #1 8, 3 = 11

Campfire 386932

The zebra succeeds in making his halberd this time, but the mare beefs it.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386934

Give Earth a pat on the head.
"It's okay… let's give it one more try."
I assist her in making her halberd.

Roll #1 9 = 9

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386935

Keep heading back, and keep a look out for anything else we can find of use.

Roll #1 8 = 8

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386936

I'll shake my head.
"No sense if we're just going to wall it off. Besides, my last foray into mining ended up with me buried under rubble. I think I'll leave the heavy lifting to the dig dogs."
I'll nod at her.
"Keep up the good work."
And then head back up to the metalcrafter's.

Boyar (Preacher) 386938

Okay, go talk to the siege and mining dogs about what the craftsdogs and farmers want. Can we make that work? Also keep in mind the needs for the militia – large training area, barracks, etc.

Koka [Monk] 386939

Time to pick up both the necklace/gem and the cake.
Hide them in my room before going back to the kitchen and telling Cook to follow me to our room.

BarkSpawn 386940

Go check my inventory and list on places that needs traps. I also check the list of who are the dogs capable of making traps.

Crunch [Knight] 386941

How's the militia doing?

Campfire 386943

With your help she is able to do it. She hangs her head.
"I am sorry for not learning better, Master."

You spot some vibrant flowers that look like they could be turned into a dye.

They are waiting for you.
"Jes' in time."
"Yer trinket should be cool enough ta touch now."

You find one of the masons directing several miners inside a large, and steadily growing larger, stone chamber. She bows when she sees you.
"Alpha, I am glad that you came to see how things are progressing. It isn't much to see right now, but once the diggers finish it will be a sight to behold."
She listens while you tell her what the craftsdogs and farmers want and about the needs of the militia.
"Don't worry about any of that. Space down here is as abundant as stone. All we will need to get the farms up and running is a bucket brigade or some crafty engineering to muddy up the stone so the plants can take root. As our military grows it might be best to split them into different barracks. I know that we have plans for one to the immediate north or south of this chamber that will serve as a firing position should be be invaded."

You grab a very pretty green and red gem construction from the gemcutter's workshop that fits the description of the one you ordered and retrieve the cake from an over where it was being kept warm. Once those are done you secret them away in your room and find Cook. After he follows you back to your room he looks around.
"What do you need from me, Mistress?"

You still have plenty of mechanisms and sharp silver spikes. The only places left to trap are the workshop level, the reisential area, and the dining area. A check of the roster outside the Alpha's office shows you that it's just you and Aidi that know how to make traps. There are plenty of dogs in the fortress with no specialization though, so you may be able to find an apprentice that is somewhat more competent than a slave.

Koka [Monk] 386944

"There be a strange smell comin'off unda da bed. Check there!"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386945

I'll look it over a bit. Check the latching. Doesn't stick when I try to open it? Latches well so it doesn't fall open?

Crunch [Knight] 386946

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386947

"Grab what you can and let's hoof it back to the fortress. I don't want to deal with any more stingy insects."

Keep an eye out, though. Let's see what else we find.

Roll #1 5 = 5

Boyar (Preacher) 386949

"That sounds fine. I trust your abilities and judgment. Keep me advised."

Okay let's go talk to some of the new parents or something.

[lemon] 386950

Go and find Aidi then, perhaps we can help each other make traps. Perhaps teaching a dog or two to make traps might be a good idea.

As fpr SpringGreen, I cant leave her. her presence makes Bark feel calm for some reason.

Campfire 386951

He checks under the bed, then looks up at you.
"There is a cake under the bed, Mistress."
His eyes is go wide.
"Is…is it your birthday, Mistress? Was me finding out a test? Did you give me a day off so I could find you a present?"
He starts to shake and tears up a little.
"I didn't know, Mistress! Please, I am sorry. I would have gotten you a gift if I knew!"
He throws himself at your feet.
"Please give me a second chance, Mistress! I swear I won't fail you again!"

It is perfect.
"What do ya think?"

The militia members are in the barracks examining a group of unfamiliar diamond dogs. The subcommander notices you walking in and turns to you.
"Boss you got here just in time. A group of migrants arrived and it turns out almost all of them are good with a bow or crossbow."

They are each honored by your visit, and a few of them let you hold their pups. You only find one family who was unlucky enough to only give birth to one puppy, but they are dealing with the shame well.

You hear that Aidi took the buffalo bulls and went into the forest. The doctor stops you when you try to visit Spring Green.
"Wait a few days, Barkspawn, then you can visit her. She and her foal need rest."

Crunch [Knight] 386952

"Really? That's great news. Did they bring their own weapons and armor?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386953

"I said it was perfect, didn't I? I'll keep you two in mind if I need anything in the future. I'll need that gem back, though."
I'll pocket the locket, and then rub my chin a bit.
"Now I doubt you just volunteered to do this out of the kindness of your hearts. I'm assuming you'd like something carved? Gift for your bitches? Or prospective bitches?"

Koka [Monk] 386954

Roll my eyes and pull out the necklace, before putting it around his neck as he is still kneeled down.
"Dat's for ya, silly."

[lemon] 386955

My ears flattened in front of the doctor.

I then head for the gate and ask the guard dogs(or someone who might guard it/nearby) if they saw Aidi and if it is safe to go to the forest after him.

Boyar (Preacher) 386956

"Each pup is a valuable part of the fortress. Even the smallest family brings something important to the pack."

What's the school situation looking like? Is Road doing that yet?

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386957

Pls Respond.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386958

I smile at her still.
"It is very alright, Earth. All that matters is that you've learned."
I give her another pat on the head.
Now that they all have their own halberds, I give them the same lecture I gave Brown about engraving.

Roll #1 3 = 3

Campfire 386959

You find a withered bush that looks like it might have once born fruit.

Anonymous 386960

Try not to cry and carry on, let's head back. We have a whole beehive on use.

Roll #1 1 = 1

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386961

I gesture for Brown to help me out!

Barkspawn(DD inq/miner/trapmaker) 386962

Campfire 386963

He shakes his head.
"Most of them came here expecting civilian life."

"Bitches love pretty looking gems."
The other nods his head.

"It is?"
He lifts up the necklace with a wing and stares at it. And stairs at it. And stairs at it.

"She went to the south with the buffalo bulls. Should be safe to follow her; none of the hunters have mentioned anything dangerous."

Each family is teaching their pups, as tradition dictates. Road is doing her best to keep the youngest ones entertained despite her shattered leg.

They don't understand how you are supposed to be able to scratch metal.

You start sobbing. Hearing you break, a few of the buffalo start to cry too. It isn't until you hear the buzzing behind you that you remember crying attracts giant ground hornets.

He tries to help you with the lecture.

Roll #1 3 = 3

Campfire 386964

He can't explain it any better than you can.

Boyar (Preacher) 386965

What happened to her leg?

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386966

"Any suggestions, or are you just leaving it up to me? Because I'm not going to get fancy if you just leave it up to me."

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386967

Take a breather and try it again.

Roll #1 1 = 1

Anonymous 386968

"Leg it back to the fort!"

Run back to the fort, we have what we came for.

Going to Greyhound, be back in a bit.

Koka [Monk] 386969

"It is. Ah just had to make sumethin for da day ya got cookin down."
Smile at him.
"Tell me if ya like da cake."

Barkspawn(DD inq/miner/trapmaker) 386970

Go outside and find Aidi, perhaps I might meet him along the way.

Crunch [Knight] 386971

"Have them report to the forge then. I hope we're not overworking them down there."

Confound you, Namefield!

Campfire 386974

She was attacked and stabbed in the leg by a Bushwoolie thief after she discovered it skulking about the fortress several months ago. There was some sort of poison on the knife that prevented the wound from healing right.

"Make 'em like you would if you were the one that would be giving them as gifts."

They booth nod their heads and say they understand.

The lot of you take off running and eventually make it back to the fortress in one piece.

You see Aidi and her buffaloes run out of the forest.

"Will do, boss. Just as soon as we finish checking them out and making sure they are all fit to fight."

Koka [Monk] 386975

Barkspawn(DD inq/miner/trapmaker) 386976

Wave at Aidi
"AIdi! Bark needs help!" I grin at him.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386977

I'll keep a straight face.
As if I'd give away my precious stones for nothing…
"Of course. I'll see what I can whip up. Any particular color choice? Blue, red, we've got a few white ones…"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386978

I don't feel to confident about that one…
Give it one last try.

Roll #1 5 = 5

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386979

Try to contain the pain, look for some baking soda, and respond:

"What's the matter? Did something happen while I was gone."

Instruct the buffaloes to deposit the bees into our shabby little beehives, and to come back to me for some treatment.

Crunch [Knight] 386980

I nod.
"Right. Make sure to bring them up to speed as well."

Any progress on new weapons?

Campfire 386981

God fucking damn it I know I wrote that because it was a long reply. Hold on.

Barkspawn(DD inq/miner/trapmaker) 386982

"Nothing so far, could Aidi aid Bark on laying traps?"

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386983

"Sure, let me take care of these things that I collected first. Where did you need me?"

Campfire 386984

Screw it.
It takes him a few seconds to realize that you are talking to him. He looks at his cake and his mouth works for a few seconds before he manages to speak.
"I-I love it. I love it, Mistress."

"It doesn't matter to us."

They reassure you that they understand what you taught them.

Baking soda? What do you think you are, a fancypants pony? You've got dirt. The buffalo go to the hospital for treatment.

Everyone is armed.

Barkspawn(DD inq/miner/trapmaker) 386985

"Bark need help on putting traps on the workshop area, perhaps some well placed one's will be good for security."
I then approach Aidi and look at him and the buffaloes.
"Does Aidi need help?"

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386986

Well… here goes nothing then.
I attempt to guide them through demonstration, watching them as they attempt to engrave their halberds with… a very small rose in the hilt.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 386987

Roll #1 4 = 4

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386988

"Fine. I'll try to have them done by tonight, and if I finish beforepaw I'll send them your way. I'll need both your names so they don't go to the wrong dogs, though."

Koka [Monk] 386989

don't worry.
"Look here, Ah still kno' how to cook! An' da gem be yours too. Proof ya made sumethin' great."
And since I have to be up in 3 hours, here I stop.

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386990

"I'll be fine."

Try not to cry

"I have some spare traps that we can use. I'll go get them, after that, you can lead the way."

Roll #1 6 = 6

Boyar (Preacher) 386991

Well I try to heal it then. If not can we take her to a more qualified healer?

Roll #1 2 = 2

Crunch [Knight] 386992

Are we still stuck with bronze weapons and armor?

Barkspawn(DD inq/miner/trapmaker) 386993

I look at his wounds
"Perhaps Aidi needs doctor, Bark can wait."

Shit got to leave in 10 min, sorry

Campfire 386994

"We're the smiths."
"The only two in the fortress."

After being reassured several times that it is fine if he eats the cake he eats it and goes back to admiring the necklace you gave him. If you go to bed he snuggles up next to you.

You keep the tears in, despite the pain from your dozens of stings.

The leg does not respond at all to our healing efforts.

There are a few steal weapons and breastplates. Every helmet and shield for the current military members are made out of steel.

That's fine, goodnight.

Roll #1 9 = 9 / Roll #2 5, 5 - 1 = 9

Crunch [Knight] 386995

The best offense is a good defense I suppose.

I'll go look for my slaves.

Campfire 386996

The unicorn engraves a simple flower onto the blade of his halberd. The other two narrowly avid cutting themselves.

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 386997

"I'll go take care of those myself. I need to check in with the other shops to see what they need from any future caravans."

Let's head to the Alpha's office first, and see what the fort needs, and with what priority.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 386998

I'll raise an eyebrow at that.
"Only two? Ridiculous. Need to get some of the pups running around with hammers. If either of you two dogs were lost, or wounded, it could cripple the fort. Once the children are of age, you should look into apprentices."
I'll nod slightly.
"I'll have those gems to you by nightfall."
And then head back to the shop, blue gem and locket in possession. Time to think about their gems.
"…Well, if I were to waste a gem on something like love, I suppose I'd probably take one of these red ones here… and maybe one of the white ones there…"
I'll carve the red one into a heart shape '1d10+4' and the white one into…
"hmm. What to make you…"

Roll #1 1 + 4 = 5

zulu 386999

So what about another doctor? How many do we have? Can we take her to see one?

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 387000

Help them then!

Roll #1 8 = 8

Campfire 387002

The female gryphon is busy sweeping the carpenter's workshop she is in. The male is munching on a sandwich in his claw as he keeps an eye on the food stockpile.

The fortress needs metal bars that aren't copper and silver.
The fortress needs slaves or animals that can be trained to guard areas.
The first is of moderate priority. the second is marked as "mailman at the door" which is the highest priority among your fortress of origin.

Why beat around the bush with something like a heart? Instead, you carve it into something that will let whoever receives it know that the giver expects a night of hot, sweaty romance: a penis with a swollen knot.

The only doctors are the one that runs the hospital and Lorik who is a PC. the doctor was unable to help her because of the poison, and now it is too late for anyone to help except Lorik.

With your help they are able to carve things that might be flowers into their weapons.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 387003

"… No, I think that might be too forward."
Toss the gem into the goods pile. Someone might buy it.
Taking another red gem, I'll try making a nice heart again. Because bitches love romance, right? Right. '1d10+4'

Roll #1 3 + 4 = 7

Boyar (Preacher) 387004

I tell her to go see Lorik when he's around.

Okay so what needs doing? Let's talk to Prophecy.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 387005

I wipe my forehead with a paw.
"Well… how confident do the three of you feel in your engraving abilities?"

Crunch [Knight] 387006

Speak to the male.
"How many catches have you made today, slave?"

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 387007

Let's go set up some traps around the workshop then. While I'm there, I'll ask the other dogs what they need, with priority given to stuff they can all share.

Rolling to not cry

Rolling to set traps [1d10+2]

Roll #1 8 = 8 / Roll #2 8 + 2 = 10

Campfire 387008

You carve a heart, but don't put all of yours into carving it. It is about the size of you paw.

He is eating in the dining hall.
"What needs doing? Well, the fortress still has no official slave trainer, so finding one might be something to put on your list of things to do. Planning a raid would also be a good thing because some of the dogs are starting to get antsy from the lack of violence. Other than that there is not anything that I can think of that needs your attention, at least not until the fortress gets relocated."

"Not very, Master."
"May we please continue forging things for you?"

"Two families of mice, some sort of lizard thing, and what might have become a rat king."
He grimaces at that last part but says nothing further.

You don't cry. In fact, you feel pretty good. The pain has disappeared and left you with a warm, floaty sensation. While you set up spike traps the craftsdogs tell you that they have everything they need for now.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 387009

I'll frown at it, then sigh.
"Wanted me to carve them like I was giving them."
I'll set the heart aside for a bit. I can have Gem polish that later. The red rocket could probably stand a polishing, but that might give her the wrong message.
…Though that might be funny. I'll set it in the "to polish" pile as well, and instead pick up a nice blue gem. Now, let's carve this into something nice. Something a metalcrafter would give to his bitch. '1d10+4'

Roll #1 4 + 4 = 8

Crunch [Knight] 387010

I frown.
"Rat king?"

Boyar (Preacher) 387011

Yes, a raid would be good. Maybe I could talk to Crunch about that? Hey Gaius…

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 387012

Let's go to the slave pens next and make sure the area is secured with traps. Let's check if there is anything I can do to make the slaves more comfortable, too.

Roll #1 1 + 2 = 3

Campfire 387013

You carve in to a large wafer. The blue is a bit too deep, but otherwise it bears a fair resemblance to an adamantine wafer.

"It is what happens when too many rats live too close together in filth for too long. As a chick I heard something about a rat king in connection to a nearby pin of slaves that was slaughtered."

One of the metal spikes gets caught in the dooorway and causes you to fall over and land on your back. The two buffalo cows look up at you.
"Are you okay, Mistress?"

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 387014

Hmm. Hmmm.
That will do for now, I suppose. Now, for that white gem…
Let's see if I can't cut it into the shape of the metalcrafter. Let's say the one on the left. The rude one. '1d10+4'

Roll #1 3 + 4 = 7

Campfire 387015

While you are on your back you notice a diamond dog with his arms full of random materials and a mad look on his face on into the mechanic's workshop.

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 387016

"Hello! Oh, how are you and the young ones doing? Are the pens big enough for everyone?"

However, since this happens >>387015,
"Make sure to keep them safe, okay? I'll be right back."

Let's spy on this dog and see what we can find out.

Roll #1 1 = 1

Crunch [Knight] 387017

"Hmm. You did well to stop it before it could have grown that far then."

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 387019

"Mm… Well, practice makes perfect. Perhaps we shall continue this another day. And of course you can continue forging things for me. You are my assistants after all."
I smile at them and mark their halberds with some kind of mark to distinguish which one belongs to who.
"Though… I think it would be good for us to get lunch. Are you three hungry?"

Campfire 387021

"Yes, Mistress."
You can't get a good look at what he is doing from the door way, but when you look up he screams something at you in a language you don't understand. A split second after that the air around him ripples and a bolt of lightning strikes you in the chest, propelling you out of the mechanics workshop and into the empty carpenter's workshop on the other side of the hall.

You are able to carve it into the shape of a diamond dog. With some more work you may be able to carve it into the diamond dog that you are thinking of.

"Thank you, Master. I threw the body into the refuse heap if you wish to see it."

They each nod.
"We can continue working instead of eating if you would like us to, Master."

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 387023

Can't leave it rough like that. Let's see how it goes. '1d10+4'

Roll #1 1 + 4 = 5

Crunch [Knight] 387024

I nod and go do that.

Aidi [DD Knight/Trap/Farm/Broker] 387026

Get up.

"We have a mad dog here, people! Everyone, prepare yourself! Get to cover if you can't fight!"

Get even.

Protect the Fortress with weapon and shield!

Roll #1 9 = 9

Campfire 387030

Your shatter it into a million pieces when you try to carve it further.

Among several other rotting things you can see three rat corpses, each tied together at the tail. Looking at them makes your hair stand on end.

A few dogs hear your cry and before long several militia members including the archer bitch, are at your side. The lot of you stand outside the mechanic's workshop watching the dog as he ignores all of you and continues to work. The diamond dog is hard to look at directly because of the air around him rippling, but if yoou look at him out of the corner of your eye something almost grabs your attention.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 387031

I'll rest my head in my paws for a moment.
"Why! What am I doing wrong? Have my paws really become so useless, that I can't even do my job?"
I'll shake my head furiously.
"No! No, I refuse to believe that."
Grabbing another white gem from the supply, I'll put my pride on the line and carve something beautiful, something no bitch would refuse! '1d10+4'

Roll #1 1 + 4 = 5

How do they do that to each other?

I need to get my mind off that. Time to go carve something.

Roll #1 8 = 8

Campfire 387033

You carve another dick. What bitch can refuse the D?

You go to an empty craftdog's workshop and start carving stone drums and flutes to sell to the caravans.

Pom Rainian [M Runt Dog Gemcutter] 387034

I'll throw it against the wall.
Huffing a bit, I'll glare at the red one still on the table.
"Am I just repressed? Is that it? Is that what you're trying to tell me? Bullshit. I don't need a bitch. Fuck bitches."
Hop down, and grab another red stone.
Growling, I'll set to work carving it. And not into a dick.

Roll #1 10 + 4 = 14

Campfire 387035

You carve the red stone into a a heart of such beauty and brilliance that kings would drive kings to kill in order to possess it.

Moloch [Charlatan Smith/Woodworker] 387036

I firmly shake my head.
"I insist. You deserve a break."
And with that, I lead them to the mess hall.
