Previously on Crypt Quest the party was split into two groups by the Twins. Each group encountered a troupe of ghouls. One party fought and the others hid. Just when things were about to get bad for each party the ghouls stopped their attack and the metal slabs keeping the groups from progressing were opened. After a bit of mental prompting from the Twins the two groups were reunited. Once the party talked with the twins for a little bit the party sealed them in a room with some ghouls.

The party currently stands in a small stone room with a flooded floor. To the north is a hallway leading to the room where Pomelo and Happyhorn were stuck. To the east is a hallway clogged with a thick tangle of roots; behind the roots is a thick iron slab. To the south is a large tunnel that has been dug through the rock wall and the dirt behind it. The entrance is set above the water so the tunnel is dry.


"Maybe once we smack around their master those vampire guys will stop being such jerks"
I start heading through the tunnel, keeping my eyes peeled for danger

"Well, at least we'll be dry now."


"Well, it looks like south tunnel is the best option." I follow Pommy.

I keep walking and looking towards that light

"What's this?"

You cannot spot any obvious signs of traps, but every few feet there are designs made out of bones and blood on the dirt walls. These continue all along the tunnel for as far as you can see. After rounding a bend in the tunnel you can see some light from up ahead.

You follow behind him and see the same things on the wall that he does. You tear one of them off the wall to try and get a better look, but the bones fall apart and the blood stays on the wall.
Roll a spot check.

The two of you follow them



Go to the light.


I inch towards the light.


The three of you arrive in the room that the party could see from the other end of the hallway when they first arrived on this level. This room looks much the same as the others and is flooded. On the wall to your left is the lever that the Twins used to control the metal slabs and false walls in the hallway. Straight ahead is a passage leading into the darkness. To the right is an open door that leads to the flooded hallway.

You cannot tell what it is, but you notice some dirt break free of the wall and tumble down to the floor. Something about it feels wrong to you.


"Guys, I have a bad feeling about this tunnel.. "


"Hey Andy hurry up slowpoke!"
I peer past the open door

"Oh!" I pull myself together, and run out of the creepy tunnel to catch up.

"Greeeeat, more water."

I approach the dark hallway.


"What do you mean?"


"It just feels.. like evil was coming from the walls. I'm usually right about that sort of thing.. " I look a bit nervous.


You can see that the metal slab closes to this door is up, and that a ghoul has its head stuck through the meshed window. Something about the ghoul seems off.

You catch up with the others.

You can see the the floor slopes upwards until it is no longer under water.


"Maybe the master is there."


Carefully inspect that ghoul head

"A vampire so evil that he radiates evil energy this far?" I grip my spear, "No wonder the power of nature has been so weak in here.."
"Did you find something Pommy?"


"Y-yeah… something creepy!"


I pat his cute little goat head, and inspect what he's looking at. "Don't worry Pommy, we're here."

You cannot see the ghouls head because it is on the other side of the metal slab. All you can see from here is its body.

The bones and blood were in the dirt tunnel you all just came from, not the dark one that Happyhorn inspected.

It's a ghoul.


"What're you all looking at over there?"


"Some kind of ghoul, its stuck somehow I think." I prod it with my spear.

Oh! I inspect the ghoul's body for anything important
"There's this deady thing here. Looks like it got caught when the metal walls went up earlier

"Ooooh, one of those buggers? What's wrong with it?"

As you poke it with you spear it looses its balance and falls. Its neck looks broken.

The ghoul has nothing on it.

It looks dead.


"See Pommy, nothing scary about it.. " I look around for something else.

I walk out and slowly start heading down the dark path, keeping my eyes peeled

"Yep. That's dead."

I turn around and follow Pomelo.

Looking through the broken mesh window you can see that all the other slabs are raised and that the false wall is blocking the passage to where the Twins are trapped. The lever for the handle is on the ground on the side of the slab opposite you.

The floor rises until it is out of the water then becomes flat once again. As you round a bend in the tunnel you can see a large, long room that is faintly lit by dimly burning torches. The left and right wall each have three openings on them and at the very back are three coffins.

You follow him.

The orange dots are the torches.


"Should we burn the coffins?"


"Is this it? It's scary enough…"
Locate the coffins.

"I don't think there's cake in those boxes…"
I grab one of the torches (if I can) and look down the first opening on the right side

The coffin closest to the wall is the the largest and fanciest. The insides are plush and comfortable looking, and lined with rich purple silk. The coffin has a small latch on the inside so that whoever is inside can lock it to keep it from being opened. Looking closely reveals metal plates hidden between the linings and the wood on the sides to make the coffin sturdier. This one is obviously for the Twins' master.

The two smaller coffins are old, but look as if they have been polished and cleaned recently. The insides have a stale smell of death hidden beneath the lemony fresh scent of fabric cleaner. Old, faded red silk lines the inside of the coffins, but there is no cushioning other than that. Both of these coffins are side by side and lack latches and metal plates. These ones are obviously for the Twins and look as if they were taken from this very crypt.

You take the torch to the left of the opening and look through. The torch reveals a circular room with a thick stone pillar in the center. The pillars and the walls have recesses in them. Above each recess is a small metal plate with writing carved into it, and in each recess is a closed coffin.

You join the others.



Use this time to look around and plan for the final battle.


Take one of the torches.


"Hey, can someone tell me what these metal things in here say?"


"Sure thing Pommy." I try to read the metal plates.

"When we get outta here, I really gotta teach you how to read Pommy!"
Examine the Master's coffin. Any kooky mechanism or weird switches?

"I can read! My eyes just hurt right now…"

"How do you spell 'party' then?"


"Maybe when this is all over I can teach him~"

I make a wriggling motion in the air with my hoof like party streamers
"That's a letter, right?"
"Maybe, but don't get too close if you do. I don't need any more germs!"


"What do you youngin's do if you're not going to school, boy?"


"But pommy, she's not even really a she.. no girl germs involved!"


"Oh, I do all my learning at the temple! It's a lot of hard work learning all the ways to pop out of a cake let me tell you"



"Why are you saying it all sing-songy like that?"
I giggle.
"No silly! That's called pa- panto-… pantochime! That's called pantochiming!"
I take out a pink marker and write out 'Party!' on a nearby wall.
"That's how you spell 'party'! P-A-R-T-Y. Party!"


You take the upper right torch on the map.

The plates all have names and dates on them. All the names in this room have some relation to stone or rock and date back a very long time. It is likely that this room is dedicated to descendants of one of the town's founding families.

There is a sturdy latch on the inside of the coffin that can be used by whoever is inside to lock the coffin. There is a small button that, when pressed, causes part of the inside to light up. This is probably a reading lamp of some sort.


"How are you going to tell which paper is blessed and good to eat if you can't read, boy? You could eat a cursed sheet for all you know!"

Look for corpses around the room.

I inspect the opposite room
"Hey maybe we should all check what's in each room"

I inspect a nearby room. Locate!

I look for a good place to set up a trap for the vampires.

You cannot see any corpses in the room, but you can smell old death coming from the bottom left room on the map.

This room looks the same as the other one, but all the coffins have been taken out of their recesses and stacked in the back. In their place are lots and lots of books.

You enter the second room on the left of the map. It looks much the same as the room above it, but all the names here are related to wheat instead of stone.

The rooms are good places to hide for an ambush. You also notice something strange on the ceiling to the right of the coffins.


Investigate the right side of the coffins.

"Is this another test of yours, boyo?"

Examine the books.

"No, they're just not very interesting without pictures!"


There is something weird about the ceiling, but you cannot tell what it is.

The coffins are of various ages and fashions, some dating back to shortly after the founding of the town. A quick peak inside a few of them show very well decayed ponies.

You go to the same room as Olga. There are a number of skeletons and partial skeletons dumped haphazardly on the floor.

One of the more intact skeletons shudders, then looks up at you.
"I have seen much. What do you want to know?"

There are a bunch of books here that cover many different topics. There is also a small stack of foal's books.


"…I think I'll just let you handle this one Olga."
I walk out of the room and head to where Pommy and Happyhorn are.
"What's going on in here?"


I use roots to lift myself up to get a better look at the ceiling.

"Loads of books, some which do have pictures!'

I kick the foal's books towards Pomelo.


"Spirit, what can you tell us of the head vampire? His weaknesses, his strengths, anything you may know."


I point Olga towards the coffins
"Something you might want in there"
I pocket some of the books for later"
I research the master's coffin

"Do not interrupt a communion!"


Your roots make a small platform but you fall off.

"He is old, older than some of the ones buried here. He has all the strengths and weaknesses of a vampire, and has placed his minions in our coffins."
You should roll when trying to learn things using Commune.

Looking closely you can see a small pocket with some pieces of paper in it.


I search the rest of the books in this room.

Get back up there and look at that ceiling. I have to know what's up there.

You find a few that look like they might be fun reads, but nothing useful.

None of them have any writing on them, they all have well preserved charcoal drawings on them. One is of a slightly large than average unicorn stallion with a pegasus mare. Another is one solely of the mare. The rest of them are all more of the same, either the stallion, the mare, or both. The final one is of two unicorn foals sleeping next to each other.

"Kill him, kill the vampires, and kill his minions in our coffins. After you have done that let Trotston senior take care of putting us back in our coffins. Did you mean how to kill the vampires? Just cut off his head and burn both it and his body."

You stay on your roots this time and look at the ceiling. There is a double spiral pattern on the walkway that reminds you of the staircase you used to get from the lich's room to the flooded room.


"The twins?"


"I see, so we should prepare fire. But what about defending ourselves?"

Turn to the rest of the party.
"Can anyone start a fire? We have to decapitate the vampire and burn it!"

"I have this torch."


"There kind of already are fires here."
I point to the torch in my hand and on the walls



I call back "You can use these roots, I'm done looking at the ceiling. It has a spiral pattern on it like the stairs from earlier."


"By that, I mean, anything we can use a fuel? Burning a vampire must be quick!"


"Be careful with the fire. If he knows that you have been here he will have the upper hoof. Be careful if you let him speak, and do not look in his eyes. Do not let him bite you, but that goes without saying."


"There's a bunch of books all over the place. But don't burn the pretty picture ones!"


"So he can easily claim dominion over our minds. I thank thee. Should you have anymore to say, I shall listen."

I walk out of the room.
"What's on those papers y'got there Mushu?"




I come over to her and point her in the direction of my roots. "I can try to make more like that for you."


"His body and head will burn like dry wood once you remove his head. If you must have a pyre use his books and coffin, but leave our coffins and Trotston Senior's books alone."

"Let me sleep now."


"Bah! I was hoping to pour oil over him, especially since he can claim our minds if we look him in the eye or listen to his voice! We kill him as quickly as possible, without leaving evidence that we have been here,or he will prepare!"

I say a prayer to the god of partying herself

"He is old. Vampires do not get old if they are not smart. He doesn't carry around the means of his destruction, so if you or your party does not have oil then you will have to fight him in a more traditional way. He can claim your mind with only his voice, but that is very difficult. If I had to guess I would say it happens about two times out of ten. His gaze is very dangerous though."

"Thank you for your formality. May I rest now?"

"Try not to get all your blood sucked out! That would be really bad for your health!"

I smile and investigate the bottom right room

"Maybe a mirror will help us then?" rolling to look for something reflective.

The two foals pictured are both unicorns, just like the twins.

This room has had the coffins cleared out to make room for traveling supplies. You try to climb up on top of a large pile of them, but end up knocking it over and getting buried underneath the pile.

There is nothing reflective in this room. Not even a puddle or a shiny piece of metal.
How would a mirror help against a vampire?


Somehow I thought we could avoid having direct eye contact with him that way. Sine he has hypnotic eyes. "ah well." I look for a good place in the little sides rooms for each person to hide.

You dive headfirst into the pile. Figuring that if you can't see him, he can't see you, you leave your cute goat butt sticking out of the pile.

I pull Pommy in deeper so that evil vampire can't see his goat butt.

You charge out of the bone pile, through where you thought he was, and into the main room. It must have just been a trick of the light that you saw.

Your flurry of blows pulverizes the floor stone under the bone pile.

"guys, calm down. He's not there."


"…Where'd he go?"
Look around the room to see if he's anywhere in here.

I am ready to stop when the rest of you are.

I scratch the back (can a buffalo even reach that far?) of my neck.

I hop up on Bessy's back and scratch for her

"Its okay, this place is pretty creepy. But we didn't actually explore that last room yet." I head into it and look around.

I use my new found flexibility and hold my hoof up high and behind my head to give Pommy a pat on the head.
So we stopping for the night?


A few of the coffins have been removed to make room for books. There are not as many here as there are in the room above it.

I am ready to stop when the rest of you are.

In a fit of boredom, Blink, the diamond dog, dug a small tunnel from the underground chapel to the large, dark room that until recently held several gargoyles. The party followed him through.

"Well that was simple enough, don't expect me to keep doing this though"


"Nevermind that, you're talking to yourself now"


I finally make my way out of the tunnel, but get stuck at the exit.
"Uh… little help please?"


"….yea yea yea"

You sound very sincere.

Looking back at the tunnel you can see small clumps of dirt falling from the sides and top. As you watch the clumps grow larger and larger before the dirt itself seems to come alive and fill in the tunnel. Just when the dirt seems to stop moving two large arms reach out of the dirt wall and grab on the the hole in the stonework. They pull, and out comes a large, brown head followed by a thick body and two strong legs. The thing resembles a diamond dog, but it is made of stone and dirt and stands twice as tall as Blink. Inside of attacking the party it turns and punches its fist into the wall. When it removes the fist it pulls out another creature just like it. They both turn to look at the party, then roar.

Roll for initiative and state your attack.


You cannot picture yourself being weaker than you currently are.

Your arrow strikes one of them in the eye. The golem pulls the arrow out and throws it at you while reforming its eye.

You knock a small clump of dirt off one of the golems.

You are stronk. Why would stronk buffalo want to be weak?
Your stone hits one of their knees and tears the bottom half of its leg off. It loses balance and falls onto its face. +1 to all rolls against it this turn.

Your arrow punches through and takes a bit of dirt with it.

I direct my spider to start pulling one apart with its webs.

The clump of dirt hits you in the chest, put the arrow doesn't stick you.

You strike its other leg with your stone right at the hip. The leg explodes in bits of rock, dirt, and bone. It's other leg reforms, but it cannot stand. There is a permanent +1 to all attacks against this golem.

You manage to knock a few more chunks off of it.

I don't think you have your spider yet. If you want it I will have to had one or two more golems to even things out.
You join Pomelo in knocking dirt off of the golem. It is starting to grow smaller.

The second golem, completely ignored, slams a fist into the patch of dirt and roars at the party. Along with the roar comes a torrent of dirt and rock.
Everyone roll to dodge.


I try to adorably flip out of the way!

Oh, I didn't know when this was supposed to take place.

I throw a few more bolts into them.

I let out a whoop and bounce in range of the other golem, and try to Crippling Shot him!

You do an adorable backflip out of the way of the oncoming dirt and land on your hooves. If the golems had hearts the sight of you doing that might have warmed them.

You act like a badass and try to jump out of the way and shoot it at the same time. You manage to dodge, but your bolt misses.
The DC for actions goes up to 7 if you want to do two things at the same time.

You are buried under a pile of dirt. You are Helpless.

You hit it and takes its knee off below the leg, but are unable to dodge and are buried just like Happyhorn. You are Helpless. +1 to all attacks against the golem next turn.

You grab him and pull him into the dirt pile with you. Seeing as how you are buried you cannot attack. Both you and Pomelo are Helpless.

The golem missing a leg starts crawling towards the filled in tunnel while the other golem regrows its leg. +0 to all rolls against the second golem.

Your arrow breaks a large clump off of the legless golem, exposing a bit of bone under the dirt.

You start breaking dirt off of it with your dagger and expose more of the bone.

You decide to make the best of a bad situation and curl up next to Bessy for a nap.

Pomelo trying to find a comfortable sleeping position distracts you and keeps you from digging your way to freedom.

The second golem starts walking towards the mound where Pomelo and Bessy are buried.


"C'mon Pommy, this isn't the time for napping! We can nap later!"
I try to break out of the pile and charge whatever's coming for us!

You decide he has the right idea and curl up next to him for a nap of your own.

The second golem sees you running for the pile and shoots a rock at you. You are able to block it with your shield, but have to stop to do so.

You poke your head out of the dirt and see the second golem about the reach the pile of dirt you and Bessy are in.

After digging some more dirt away from the bone you place your horns under it and attempt to pry it out. After a great deal of tugging the bone pops free and pulls most of a skeleton out with it. Most of the first elemental crumbles, leaving only a head, arm, and part of a torso.

The first, heavily wounded golem crawls slowly towards the collapsed tunnel.

The second golem reaches an arm out towards the pile that Pomelo and Bessy are in. It will reach them this turn.


Dig out!

Already being partway out, your weak struggling is enough to get you all the way out.

Despite its impressive size you are able to grapple with the golem. The two of you are locked together in struggle. DC3 to not be made Helpless, DC8 to make the golem Helpless.

You are only able to fit your head through the opening that Pomelo made.

You try to stab it in the head, but it grabs you in its jaws and shake you a few times before spitting you out and continuing its journey towards the collapsed tunnel.

The two of you stay locked together, neither of you able to get the upper paw in the fight.

No matter how hard Pomelo pulls his efforts are countered by Bessy's large size.

You break a bit of dirt off its arm as it slowly pulls its way across the floor.

With a great cry you tear one of its arms off at the elbow and slam the golem to the ground. It is now Helpless.

Bulk is bulk and you are stuck.

Despite her size and weight you grab her by the horns and pull her free with one strong yank.

Your dagger hits a rocky patch on its arm and fails to do anything. The golem is too distracted by trying to get away to counterattack you.

Its head is attached quite tightly, but you loosen it a little bit.

You jump onto its arm and start stomping. After a few seconds you are able to expose more bone.

After hugging your friend you run over to the half-broken golem and start whacking at it with your staff. The only thing that happens is your squeaky ball squeaking whenever it hits the golem.

A bit of dirt comes off the golems neck as it regrows its arm and stands up. If you want to keep trying to pull its head off your better hope you don't fail this last roll.

You pull the bone out and shield your face as its last arm explodes.

You break an ear off the angrily snapping dirt head.

You pull the golem's head free and throw it away as it explodes. The golem, now blind, begins to flail its arms wildly and stumble around. +2 to all rolls against the golem for the rest of the battle.

You break some of the dirt of what it left of its torso.

I try my luck on the headless one and swing at it

I grab it and pull.

Roots shoot out of the ground and entangle the giant diamond dog shaped golem.

It bites you again. It really hurt this time.

Despite only the tiniest fragment of bone showing you ram your head into its body and grab it with your mouth. Once you have a tight grip you pull as hard as you can and fall away form the golem with a diamond dog skeleton sans skull. The golem explodes and showers the party with dirt and rock.


I start sniffling and swinging wildly at it

Previously on Crypt Quest the party gained entrance to the vampire's lair and did a bit of exploring. In the top two side rooms on the left are coffins put into receptacles meant for them. In the bottom room on the left are a pile of old, dead skeletons. The room on the top right is full of books, and also has a few old foal's books. The middle room on the right has more books, but these look like the ones in the lich's room. The room on the bottom right is full of traveling gear. At the bottom of the room are three coffins meant for the vampires. In the had vampires coffin they found armor plates and a lock to protect anyone inside. They also found charcoal drawings of a unicorn stallion, a pegasus mare, and two unicorn foals. To the left of the coffins there is a strange circle on the ceiling that reminds anyone who looks at it of the staircase they took down from the lich's room.

The two torches from the top of the room have been taken by the party. There is a mass of roots under the thing on the ceiling. Pomelo made a mess of the room with the traveling supplies in them. The party can feel that the vampire will be back soon.


Skeletons? Break every bone with my telekinesis! I'm taking no chances!

The circle is round and on the ceiling.

The sight of camping equipment makes you feel like a little filly. You run across the room and jump, doing a canonball into the pile of traveling supplies.

Your aren't sure why, but it reminds you of a staircase. There is a small gem in the center of it like the ones that were used to hold enchantments.


"Well once we clear up a bit, I guess we get into sneaky spots? Maybe one of us can hide in his coffin! Not that I wanna…"

You pick something off the pile and start playing with it.

You snatch the thing out of Bessy's hooves and put it on the pile with everything else. The pile looks like it did before it was disturbed.

All the torches are back where they should be.

You hide in the sideroom with the bones.

The roots are still under the thing on the ceiling. The party is still scattered around the room.
How long does it take an experienced vampire to grab two or three victims?


"That sounds kinda dangerous though Pommy…"

When you come back to your senses you are standing up and Pomelo is hugging you. Oddly, he is hugging you around your neck instead of your rear.

Your roots start to sink back into the ground and replace the stone they displaced, but…

I rush over and try to help her out!

I shake it off and try looking through the middle room on the right's books.

"Did the twins say there would be anything in those coffins.." I think back and remember something about minions being in there. "Maybe we should seal them up in case?"


"Maybe you can use your pretty plants to hold em shut? Or we can put the torches to them… but then he'd know we've been here."


I pop out


I slip back in.


While Andelia wrangles the roots Bessy helps Mirabelle get away from them. Mirabelle is fine. The roots didn't even damage her outfit. The roots fix the floor as they disappear.

You keep hugging him.

With the goat around your neck you walk over to the pile of books and look through them. Each of them talk about some form of necromancy, and you even find one you think you could learn from, but…

The entire party can hear a rumble from the circle above where the roots were. The small gem in it is glowing. The only thing out of place in this room is the party.


I let out a small sigh of relief

"Vell ve should probably hide…"

Look for a spot to hide

I run into the room on the bottom right (the one with the traveling gear) and try to hide.

I grab whoever's nearest me and run over to the pile of bones and jump in!

With a loud crack the circle descends and a staircase spirals down. The circular stone glows as it touches the floor before sinking into it and leaving the staircase looking like it was always there. Three ponies walk down the staircase, each of them looking straight ahead but never missing a step. They stop once they reach the bottom and a unicorn stallion follows them down. He is wearing a black cape, and his green coat is so pale that it is nearly white. As he steps off the last step his horn glows and the staircase loudly retracts into the ceiling along with the round, glowing stone.

The unicorn stallion pauses and looks around the room once the staircase grows quiet, then shrugs and begins positioning the ponies by the coffins. As he works he calls out in a loud voice.
"Snack time, children! Come bring those fools the lich sent us if you have caught them!"


A mischievous smile creeps on my face as I brush my butt against Dreamy's butt nonchalantly


I tense up and look angry at the sound of such brash words. he's the one who killed all of those ponies, he's the one who did.. that.. to the twins. He has to die.


"Please don't tell me those ponies are the snacks…"
Keep my eyes fixed on him from the pile

I silently put my tongue in his ear and swirl it around a little

The unicorn stallion's expression becomes worried.
"Children? What is taking you so long? Children? Why won't you answer?"

His worried look turns to one of fear, then forced calm. He gathers the three ponies around him and speaks loudly in a singsong voice.
"It was nice of you to play with my children. Playing rough is fine, but hurting them isn't. Why don't you all come out where I can see you?"

A haze that you did not even know existed lifts from around your mind. You can see a confused looking vampire in front of you.
"They asked you to lock them in a room? What do you m-"

His voice cuts off as your lightning bolt narrowly misses the ponies surrounding him and hits him. He whips around to look in your direction.

He is cut off once again as thick roots burst from the floor and wrap around his legs and head, gagging and immobilizing him.

You try to grab a piece of stone that was broken by the roots, but cannot lift it.

The three ponies are still standing there like nothing is happening.


Hit the vampire in the face with my morningstar!

I tie the ponies to one another with my rope and try to pull them out of harm's way to the room with traveling supplies

I blink at the sudden clarity, then bounce backwards, telling my spider to drop down on him and attack.

Why aren't they reacting? I jump out and attack at the evil fiend with my spear. I aim for the neck/ head.

One of the ponies is in your way. You fail to reach the vampire.

Your bolt hits one of the roots holding him down.

You tie them together, but the rope is wrapped around the roots. You will have to untie them and trey again.

You leap out of the bone pile and charge him with your spear. The tip of it stabs into the flesh of his neck.

Your silver coated iron nugget hits him in the knee, breaking it. The vampire grunts loud enough to be heard from behind the roots, then vanishes as his body becomes smoke that slips away from the roots.

Your spider attacks too late and hits the cloud of smoke instead.

A number of loud thumbs and screeches can be heard from the the middle room on the left as 7 ghouls run out of it and towards the party.

I turn around and shoot some bolts into the ghouls, then hop on my spider and tell it to scurry up a wall.

Swing my morninstar at one of them

Your bolts give a few of them gashes, but none of them penetrate. Your spider helps you climb onto its back before climbing up a wall.

The ghouls are too distracted to attack you as you pull them away from the fight.

You bring your crossbow up and look down the arrow at the charging ghoul. Waiting until it is only a few feet away you fire into its open mouth. The bolt punches a hole through the back of its throat and hits another one of the ghouls in the neck.

You push your spear deeper. The ghouls screams become those of pain instead of anger and black blood starts to pour out around your weapon.

The quickly moving things easily avoid your shots. One jump onto your back and starts to chew on your thick hide.

It ducks under the swing then bites your leg. It clamps its jaws down as hard as it can then throws you to the ground. You are now Helpless.


Shoot at the ghoul biting the maid.

I let out a cry in pain and try to kick the ghoul away and get back up

I shoot down at the one clamped on Mirabelle.

Your shot causes the ghoul to look up at you. It snarls then leaps at you.

The moment you step back into the main room you are jumped by a ghoul that was trying to sneak around to where you hid the ponies. It forces you to the ground then begins trying to bite you. You are now Helpless.

There is a loud crunch as the head of your spear pokes out its back. The ghoul vomits black blood and dies on your spear.

Being so limber it is easy for you to reach back and snag it with your horns. Once you have it you toss your head and throw it at the ghoul on Pomelo. It hits with a loud smack and they both go tumbling into a wall.

Your leg hurts too much to stand one. The damage looks superficial, but it sure is painful.

Firing from you spot on the wall is hard and you miss your shot. Lucky the ghouls are tied up with the others and cannot try to get at you.

There are five ghouls left, two of them hobbling around on broken legs.
Everyone please roll 2d10 this round. The first is your attack and the second is a spot check.


Get up!

I concentrate and try to shoot down at them again.

Sidestep the charging ghoul and shoot the one gnawing on Pommy.

All you can see is the hungry ghoul standing on top of you.

One of the ghouls bites your leg.
It hurts so much that your vision goes white for a second before returning to normal.

You get up.
You can see your friends fighting the ghouls.

You give her something to sooth the pain in her leg.
You are too focused on keeping an eye out for ghouls to see anything else.
There are five ghouls, but they are all hurt pretty bad by now.


I kick it off and hopefully into something else bad!

The room where Pomelo hid the ponies. The room where the twins are is on a different part of this floor.

You butt the ghoul and break a few ribs, but it stays attached to him.

Your bolts miss as your spider arrive outside the room just as the smoke slips inside.

Ignoring the pain in your chest you magically grab a few smaller rocks left by the roots and throw them at the ghoul on top of you. Most of them miss, but a few strike it in the head. One of its eyes rolls back into hits head as it dies and falls off of you.

You run away with the ghoul still attached. It doesn't hurt right now thanks to Mirabelle though.

You spread a slave to help with burns over his wound. It doesn't help.

You charge into the room just in time to see the vampire solidify next to the three tied up ponies. He grins at you, then opens his mouth to bite one of them.

You hit Bessy instead. The bolt hits her shoulder, making it hard for her to move.

You fly over to the ghoul that was attacking Pomeloe and the one that Bessy threw at it. You pummel one with your hooves and the other with your legs until both of them are misshapen lumps.

Two ghouls left.


I follow Pomelo and use my morningstar if need be

I turn around and follow Pomelo through the doorway, upside-down.

You run into the room and smash the vampire in the face with your mace. He snarls and runs around your, his nose horribly broken by your morning star.

You give her something, remembering too late that it isn't supposed to be used on buffaloes. She doubles over in agony and falls to the floor helplessly.

You chase after him, but before you can attack…

Your charge the most powerful lighting bolt that you can and fire it at the fleeing vampire. You aim was off, however, and you strike Pomelo with it. The bolt strikes him with a bright flash of light, illuminating his skeleton even as it throws him to the back of the room. Pomelo bounces off the wall and lands on the floor. He doesn't move.

You bend nearly double and shoot the ghoul gnawing on your leg. The iron nugget strikes it with such force that its body is torn away from its head.

The two of you team up; beating and stabbing the last ghoul until it looks like it was chewed up and spat out by a dragon.
The vampire is momentarily stunned.

You watch all of this unfold.

After I tear the ghoul's head off, I turn back to Mushu,
"Oooww… what did you give me-"
I notice Pomelo lying on the floor, immobile.
Fuck the pain, I rush over to him and start shaking him, trying to wake him up!

I drop down and instruct my spider to shield Pomelo's body while I take a potshot at the vampire.

Bessy is too big for you to help her up.

Your beholder's eye sparks a few time, but doesn't fire. You, however, leap at the vampire and start clubbing his broken face with your silver staff. He snarls at you and tries to strike back.

You wave some smelling salts under the motionless goat's nose. For a few seconds nothing happens, then he gasps and opens his eyes. Pomelo is now Helpless.

You stand back up, but don't go rushing anywhere. The pain finally fades away.

Your spiders hunkers down over Pomelo and Andelia while you shoot at the vampire trying to attack Olga. He yelps as your bolt strikes his side.


I try to get up

Despite your fried and blackened skin and muscles you stand up. Blood and clear fluid leak from your split flesh but you are able to ignore the immense amount pain you are in for now.

You start spreading a thick paste over his charred flesh. Once most of his body is covered you lean back and watch as it slowly starts to bring him back from the edge of death.

The vampire howls in pain as your silver bolt pierces his heart.

Your beholder finally manages to get it's flame working and hits the vampire with a ray of scorching heat. Unfortunately it grazes you with the beam.

You pepper the vampire with bolts, but none of them do much damage relative to what the others are dishing out.

You hold back.

Your iron nugget hits the bolt that Pomelo shot and drives it even deeper into him. The vampire screams loud enough to rattle the stone that make up the room you are all in.

His body melts into another cloud of smoke. The bolts and iron nuggets in him clatter to the floor as he spreads his gaseous from out across the room. More thumping and screeching comes from the room on the top left as 9 ghouls rush out towards the party.


I wince as I see the shape Pomelo's in,
"C'mon Pommy! You gotta stick with us!"

I whistle for my spider and hop back up on its back as I shoot more bolts at the ghouls.

Step back and let the Beholder continue the ray of purging flame.

Your shot breaks the leg of one of the ghouls. It falls you the ground and starts trying to push its broken bone back into its leg.

You grab one of them by the neck and start swinging it around. Its neck snaps as you use it as a flail and break the backs of two other ghouls, killing them.

The pain from your burns hits you like a ton of bricks. Instead of praying you cry out in pain and fall helplessly to the floor.

You shoot one through the eye and drop it as your spider lifts you up and puts you on its back.

A ghoul grabs your staff and tries to pull it away before you can use it.
Roll it get it back from the ghoul.

Roots burst out of one of the walls and wrap around one of the ghouls. Bones snap as the roots constrict it.

A ray of fire strikes one of the ghouls in the chest and burns clean through its body. Your beholder moves the beam up and down until the ghoul has been burnt in half.

5 ghouls left.

You stand back up without even needing to lean against Dreamkicker for support.
The pain makes your vision a little blurry.

You shoot one of the screaming ghouls in the back. It does little more than annoy the ghoul.
You are too focused on picking out targets to see anything else.

You turn away from the broken ghouls just in time to be headbutted by another ghoul.
Your vision swims as it rears back for another strike.

You charge into the fray and stab a ghoul in its side. It shrieks and tries to pull away.
From where you are standing you can see the vampire's smokey form rapidly flowing into the room with the three ponies.

You take the staff back from the ghoul before it can do any damage.
The ghoul in front of you has nearly all of your attention.

Your shot goes wild when a ghoul bites you on the nose.
All you can see is the ghoul trying to chew your face off.

Your minion incinerates the ghoul that Happyhorn shot in the back. The ghoul's flesh quickly burns away and leaves behind and charred skeleton.
You are too busy watching for ghouls that may try to tear apart your heavily damaged beholder.

I keep shooting at the ghouls, aiming for the one attacking Bessy.

The salve that Andelia spread across your body cracks and falls off. Your skin and muscles repair themselves until they are as good as new. Any scars you have disappear as the missing parts of your coat grow back.

You jump back and strike the ghoul twice in the face. It spits out a few broken fangs and tries to bite you.

You take a defensive stance beside your beholder and get a +1 to your next attack to defend it. If you attack or do anything else before then you lose the +1.
Your minion sets another ghoul alight, but this one doesn't die right away,

The ghoul that tried to take your staff grabs your crossbow and hits you over the head with it. When your vision clears you are helpless on the ground and the ghoul is about to bite you.

You run into the room just in time to see him about to bite a pony. He scowls as best he can with his broken face and looks you in the eyes.
"Keep me safe while I repair the damage your friends did."
Roll and state your action.

You pry it off your nose and throw it as hard as you can at the ground. Bones break and snap but it doesn't die.

You fix that with a quick bolt to its neck.

Three left.


I'll try that "rocks to the face" thing again.

I scuttle in and start taking shots at the vampire.

Your rocks hit it, but the ghoul is healthy enough to ignore them as it rips out the chunk of you that the earlier ghoul was chewing on.

Your beholder strikes the burning ghoul again. The fires burns even hotter until it goes out and leaves behind some melted bones.

You return the favor and headbutt the ghoul. It shakes its head a few times and snarls as it steps back.

You nod your head and the vampire smirks.
As he bites one of the ponies you turn around and get ready to attack any pony that tries to enter the room or hurt your master.
Roll 2d10 when making rolls in combat. The second roll is to free your mind and is at DC8. Because of your one you cannot roll to get free unless you are trying to hurt your friends. For all intents and purposes you have used Protect on him, except protect will last until you free yourself from his influence.

Andelia is blocking the doorway. You will have to get past her if you want to attack the vampire.

You hug your Dreamy even as the ghoul does its best to eat him alive.


"No! Stop that right now you meanie!"
Shove Andelia aside as gently but firmly as I can and charge him again!

You try hugging the ghoul to calm it down. It pries you off and slams you down next to Dreamkicker. You are now Helpless, but at least you are with your Dreamy~.

You punch the ghoul so hard that its head sinks into its chest, then punch it again and turn it almost inside out. After that you toss a few seeds into your mouth to dull the pain from the fight.

It doesn't work and the ghoul tears a chunk of flesh out of your neck this time. The pain is starting to fade away, as is your vision. Maybe you should try to push it off you instead of attacking it while pinning in a rapidly growing pool of your own blood?

You blast it off of you with your magic. It hits the ceiling with a loud crunch and falls to the floor where it struggles to stand.

You stand back up. Your coat is pretty red thanks to all that Blood Dreamkicker is bleeding.

You push her aside and are met with a screaming ghoul. The force of its assault pushes you out of the room and lets Andelia step back into place.
One of the ponies in the room screams. His scream turns into a ghoulish shriek after a few seconds.


"No! Think again!"

Sleep ray again.

I smack Andy in the face and shove her aside!
"Andy! Stop this right now!"

Now I bash the the ghoul's face in with a rock.

"JUST STAY AWAY FROM HERE!" using bear bash on the next one to get close.

You focus your magic on the hole in his neck. It closes and leaves behind only a thin patch in his coat.

You easily grab the piece of rock that Mirabelle was trying to use earlier and hover it over to the ghoul. You wait for it to look up before dropping it and crushing its front half.

You punch Bessy in the face as hard as you can. As you pull your hoof back clarity returns to you and you realize what you have done. The last pony behind you screams. As the scream dies the vampire starts to laugh.
"Go, minions! Attack these murderers! Leave them broken but alive! As you, pony, come here. You've earned this."
Two more ghouls squeeze past Andelia. Along with the third ghoul they attack the party.


Tiger stance the ghouls.

I try to charge past the ghouls and try to ram into him again!

I decide to play along and avoid eye contact with him by looking at the ground and waling over to him when I am close enough I try to slice off his head with the spear.

You beat one ghoul to death with your hooves. You then grab its body and throw it at the second ghoul, knocking it over.

Your beholder sets the third ghoul on fire.

You hit the flaming ghoul and get singed.

You hug him and focus all of your healing energy upon him. The wounds in his chest heal, and his coat reclaims a few inches of fuzzy flesh.

"Yes, if you really have killed my children I must-"
His voice is cut off as your spear slashes through his throat. He stumbles back and coughs up some black sludge before speaking again.
"Clever, but that won't save yo-"

He is cut off again as your lightning bolt hits him. He growls and shifts into his smokey form again, then flows towards the party.
Everyone roll.

There is one ghoul left. It is on fire.

Your beholder shoots a beam of fire at the smoke. It burns a black spot onto the floor underneath it.

You drink some water and feel a little refreshed. It's important to stay hydrated when fighting vampires.

You pick up the burning ghoul and throw it at the smoke. The ghoul dies as it hits the floor but the smoke continues to be smoke.

You magically watch as the smoke suddenly solidifies in front of you.
The vampire uppercuts you, sending you arcing through the air and landing helplessly on the ground.

We are stopping here for the night.


Previously on Crypt Quest the party got ready ready for, and then fought the vampire that had beaten the lich and stolen part of his crypt. The party was able to clean up the messes they had made and hide just in time to avoid being found by the vampire as he returned with three hypnotized ponies. They waited too long before springing their ambush and were nearly foiled when the vampire used his hypnotic voice to coax Happyhorn out of her hiding spot. During the fighting Pomelo was able to lead the hypnotised ponies to a side room while the rest of the party kicked the vampire's ass. Surprised by the strength of their assault he turned into a cloud of smoke and sicced some ghouls on them. While fighting his minions a few party members noticed him trying to get to the ponies he had brought and were able to stop him. Once his ghouls were defeated he became solid again and promptly had the shit beaten out of him. Once again turning into smoke he sicced some more ghouls on the party before going for the hypnotised ponies again. This time the party failed to stop him thanks to Andelia becoming hypnotised and guarding the room he and the ponies were in.

When we left things off Andelia had given the vampire a cut on the neck and he had punched Dreamkicker across the room. Dreamkicker is Helpless and away from the party.

You bound across the room and help Dreamkicker stand up.

After punching Dreamkicker the vampire shifts his weight and bucks you in the face. His attack, plus the attacks you suffered at the hooves of your friends, is enough to unbalance you and send you falling helplessly to the floor. He spits out a wad of black sludge and rubs the rapidly healing gash across his throat, but before he can speak…

You slam into his side and push him away from Andelia.

"I thought a pony that dresses like you would love dirty play."
He pulls your morning star out of your grip. He taunts you with it, keeping it just out of reach, then bashes you in the face with it.

Before the vampire can hit her again you shoot him just below his ear with a silver coated iron nugget. He hisses in pain and drops Mirabelle's morning star in order to pull the smoking piece of metal out of his head.

You grab Pomelo with your magic and run back to the fight.

He is ready for your attack this time and catches every nugget you shoot at him. He collects them into a mass above his head then begins firing them at you. Your buffalo hide is thick, but he still manages to hurt you.

You jump to the side to avoid a nugget he shoots at you, then hit him with a bolt of lightning. He grits his teeth as the electicity courses through him.

Staying where you are you pick up your mace with you magic and smash it against the black of his head. His magic falters for half a second, but he regains his focus and shoots you a dirty look.

He laughs and fires the last of the nuggets that he caught at you. It hits you in the chest and the entire party can hear one of your ribs snap.
"What about the three you helped me take?"

Taking advantage of his distraction you strike him in the flank with your axe. When you pull it free the blade is covered in thick black gunk. The vampire turns to smoke and reappears on the other side of the party.

Once the coast is clear you run over to Andelia and help her up.


Spin around and shoot him.

He catches your arrow midflight, then shoots it back at you. His aim was off and it only grazes your cheek.

The dark powers that the lich uses to guard his crypt, darkened even further by the vampire, corrupt your healing spell and cause her broken rib to push halfway out of her chest.

She is already standing so instead you carefully push the rib back in.

The vampire stands there as you charge, then turns to smoke at the last possible second. Having to much inertia to stop or change course you keep charging and slam into the wall behind him. The impact rattles you and forces you to sit down before you lose your balance. You are now Helpless.

You drink a foul tasting concoction and feel your rib fuse back together..

"Stupid cow."
He grabs your shots once again and fires them back at you. His aim was better this time and he covers your face with bruises.

You fly up behind him and strike him twice with your silver coated gloves. He hisses and jumps away from you.


"Urgh, that didn't feel good"

He can't. You silver bolt pierces his side, but he quickly pulls it out.

He lines up the bolt and shoots it at you with his magic. It slips through a chink in your armor. It doesn't hit any where important, but the bit of his blood that was on it makes you feel sick.

You fly forwards and hit him in the jaw with a right hook. He ducks under you and tries to run off…

But some roots climb out of the ground under him and wrap around his legs. He has an annoyed look on his face as he turns to smoke and slips free of their grasp.

He reappears next to you, then punches you in the nose.
"I am going to have so much fun redecorating your face when this is over."

You hit him in the flank and he yelps as the piece of metal sinks into one of his cutiemarks. He pulls it out, but the wound is a bit slower to heal this time.

He looks deep into your eyes and laughs as you awkwardly stab yourself with your own spear.
"You and your friends tried to murder my children. I'll order you around and hurt any of them that I want!"

He steps to the side and grabs Andelia's spear, pushing it forwards to cut you as you charge past while Andelia recovers from his gaze.

He grits his teeth and his legs go stiff as you hit him with lightning again. A bit of smoke rises from his back.

The vampire leaps over to you and swats your horn with his hoof.
"Your princess won't help you down here."

Huh. I removed your hits from my paper and remember planning out my response to that.
Pomelo runs over to Bessy and heals her face while fixing the rough spots on her coat the the ghouls made.

He dodges around your punches and strikes you under the chin.
"What are those stupid things you have on your hooves? How do you even walk?"


"I usually fly around."

He grabs your shot with his magic and slings it around his body before letting it fly back at you. It hits you in one of your legs, causing you to shift your weight to the other three and leaving you dangerously unbalanced.

You stab his guts and pull out. Smoke rises from the wound as it stitches back together, leaving a small scar. He growls an insult but before he can speak…

You hit him like a freight train. He is knocked to the grounded and trampled under your hooves as you run over him.

The wounds Korrin gave him are healing quickly, but that doesn't stop you from shooting a bolt at his chest. You miss and hit one of his lungs instead. He tries to pull it out, but…

You hit him in the face with your silver coated morning star. Teeth and some black goop fly out of his mouth, and his cheek tears open. The wound closes, but leaves a nasty scar as he struggles to stand back up.

He rolls over and lashes out with one of his back legs, catching you in the gut and knocking the wind out of you for a second.

While he is focused on defending himself from Mushu he is unable to defend himself from anyone else. You beat against his chest with your mace and can see his ribs strain where you hit him.

You some foul god, the very opposite of Pinkie Pie, laughing as your cure spell goes horribly wrong and causes the black blood in Korrin's system to multiply. On the bright side, Korrin can now see a little better in the dark.

You take a few seconds to regain your balance then smash both of his back legs with two well placed shots.

You move closer until your crossbow is only a foot away from his chest, then fire. Then bolt pierces his withered heart and leave only its fletching sticking out. The vampire shrieks as what might have once been blood seeps out around the wound.

You spear is more of a stabbing weapon than a chopping weapon, but that doesn't stop you from trying to cut off his head. Black ichor starts to ooze out of his neck.

You push her aside and chop at his neck with your axe. The weapon gets caught on his vertebrae and does not go all the way through.

Before the party can attack again the vampire turns to smoke and flees to his coffin where he reforms. He searches through his coffin for something, but when he cannot find it he roars and turns to the party.

He looks around, a wild look in his eyes.
"Children! Where are you! Answer me! Please!"

He cocks his head as if trying to listen to something. His face falls, then becomes angry as he looks at the party.
"You killed them! They won't answer me because you killed them! I'll kill you! I'LL KILL ALL OF YOU!"

He starts to convulse and his bones snap as his body starts to change. His legs, chest, and neck stretch as he grows large enough to rival Celestia. His coat falls off his body and his back splits as two large, leathery wings grow and unfold. His ears grow larger and more batlike and his snout extends while his eyes grow smaller and his mouth fills with fangs. His hooves break apart and grow into claws that he uses to rip the lid off his coffin and throw it at the party.

The coffin lid hits Pomelo on the head and he drops like a rock.
He is now unconscious and will wake up on his own in two turns, but can be woken up earlier than that with Natural Remedy. Once he wakes up he will be Helpless.

The vampire's wings carry him right behind the coffin lid and he lands in the middle of the group in a tornado of claws and fangs. He he slows his assault to see how badly the party is mangled Mushu, Andelia, and Mirabelle are lying Helpless on the ground. Only Korrin, Dreamkicker, and Bessy are still standing.

While he cradles his wounded wing you hit him with another bolt of electricity. He snarls and his claws dig deep furrows in the stone floor.

"Dreamkicker.. I just.. " I look really sad and let him take care of it before I can do more damage. I focus on getting the vampire grounded again, using my roots to pull him into the ground.

You fly over to him and pummel the base off his broken wing. A sob escapes the creature as its ruined wing falls off its body.

You press the tip of the staff against him. One of the gems stops glowing as Pomelo starts to breath again, but shows no sign of life other than. He is still unconscious.

You hit one of his back legs and break it once again. The vampire pulls it against him and shys away from you.

The vampire is in too much pain to hear anything you say.

You slam into the vampire, but his size keeps him upright.

Roots overturn a few floor stones and wrap around the vampire, pulling it against the ground and breaking a few of his bones.

He may be stuck under the buffalo, but his legs and claws are still free to move. He grabs your beholder in one claw and squeezes, slicing your minion into several strips. The sight of this makes you falter and leave an opening in your stance.

After slicing the beholder into several pieces he swats you away despite your heavy armor.

Korrin slams into you. You are both in pain, but still standing.

Your silver nugget flies into his open mouth and tears one of his cheeks off as it exits. The vampire swings at you but…

Hits you instead. Your hooves leave the ground and you go flying across the room before landing on your back.

He fends off your blows and scratches you with his claws while doing so.

He knows your strategy by now and tries to punch you with a fist the size of your head. You roll in the air just in time to avoid getting hit.

You shoot some sparks from your horn and put on a small lightshow. Pomelo might have liked it if he were conscious.

One of the ghouls rises to its hooves. There is a silver bolt sticking out of a burst eye, but that is the only damage that has been done to it.


You run over to Korrin and roll him over before helping him stand up. After that you give him a drink of water.


Remembering some childhood stories and ancient legends, I lean down and try to wake up Pomelo with the sweetest kiss I can muster.

Questions about what you colleagues might think spring to mind. You manage to force them down, but they have unsettled you enough that all you do is give Pomelo a quick peck on the lips.

Your ghoul leaps at the massive vampire and latches on to his neck. It hangs there thrashing as it tries to tear out his throat.

You slam into the large vampire. Bones snap as the roots hold him in place.

He swings at you again. You duck just in time to keep your head, but one of his claws flicks you horn and cancels you spell.

You fly over next to the ghoul and start punching away at his neck. Your silver gloves burn flesh and muscle wherever they hit.

The vampire grabs you with a free claw and pushes you off of him. His claws leave several long, red lines across your back and sides.

A small, pungent flower grows up through the floor in front of you. You pluck it and wave it under Pomelo's nose. His eyes snap open and he gets to his feet. He can't help but notice that his lips taste funny.

Thoughts about the goat fill your mind and you shoot one of the roots holding the vampire down instead.

The vampire finally remembers its ability and turns to smoke just before your axe hits. It reapears behind you and brings a heavy fist down on your back.

You change your aim as it reappears and shoot off one of its ears, exposing a patch of skull and thin muscle.

It knocks you aside with a fist. You nearly fall over, but manage to stay standing.

Your ghoul reattaches itself to its neck even as its flesh starts to rot.

You hit him with a bolt of lightning that burns his flesh.

Licking your lips one last time you decide to answer that question once your friends are safe.

You keep on punching his neck, the sliver on your gloves burning through his muscle until his spinal column is exposed.

The vampire collapses under the weight of the assault against him and your roots wrap around him. The vampire struggles weakly, then turns into smoke.

The smoke rolls across the floor and into the room on the top right of the map.

Using your magical sight you can see the vampire as he looked before turning into the gigantic monstrosity. You follow the group.

The rest of you follow the smoke, some of you trying to attack it. Inside of the room the party can see the heavily wounded vampire curled up and bleeding on most of the books in the room. He has a few of the books clutched tightly against his chest and pulls something out of one of the books and hides it in his other claw as the party enters. He looks up at all of you with hate filled eyes, but does not attack.

His head is cut clean off as you strike his neck with the axe you found in the chest. His head hits the ground and rolls towards the party while his body slumps, still holding the books and the other thing.

It is a charcoal drawing of the vampire. He looks healthy and full of life, not at all how he looked when the party first saw him. He is sitting in a room littered with toys and books, and is playing with two unicorn foals that look to be about half a year old.

You grab a torch.

You grab some books about socioeconomic theory that were written a few hundred years ago and dump them on the headless corpse.

Mirabelle has it.

He was holding a bunch of foals books, the kind that have a bunch of pictures and very few, very small words. They all look old and the pages are worn, but the books all show signs of careful care and repair work. There is nothing in any of the books because he already took out what was hidden.

You pull the books he was holding away before covering his body in lamp oil. You then levitate him into the middle of the main room and hit him with electricity. His body catches fire quickly and light up the room.


I say a prayer for him. Even bad guys deserve a moment like this

The head is silent for a minute as it processes what it just heard. When he speaks he speaks with the voice of an utterly broken man.
"Why? Why would they want me dead? I couldn't get home in time to save their mother, but I saved them even if it was in an evil way. Why would they turn on me? I loved them, I kept them safe and happy, I taught them and kept moving what was left of our family every time we were found so they would be safe. Why?"


So are they not all the way down? If they aren't, try to get them down the rest of the way.

A few got raised all the way up, blocking access. You raise the rest of them and block access from any direction.

She never suspected a thing, and neither did the neighbors, but somehow someone found out it was me. On my way one one night I could see flames in the distance. I ran as fast as I could, but by the time I got back the entire house was on fire. The paladins and inquisitor responsible were too busy keeping the neighbors back to see me, so I slipped in through the back door."

His voice starts to become louder and more passionate.
"All three of them were in the nursery. My wife was dead from the smoke and burns, but she had shielded the twins from the flames with her body. They were too week to cry, and were almost dead themselves. I didn't have a choice, you see? It was the only way! I had to do it, I had to!"

"Guide them where? This curse can't be broken. I tried for hundreds of years to find a cure that does not exist. In the end I gave up and helped my foals to make the best of this life."

You drop most of the metal plates and move a few of the false walls. The way to where you left the twins is now open.

I promise to make sure they get started off right. I promise you that.." I and kneeling as is traditional for making such promises.


"One cannot yet give up on hope, the one light that drives all life. And even if there is no cure, they will surely find a happiness far better than anyone could hope to give them if they sought it themselves, forged by the strife and dangers of the open world that is now theirs to take. Do not feel sad, for you have given them the best thing they could have: will to lead their own lives as they see fit, on their own."

I pull out my panpipes and play a tune to the Pink One, asking for guidance and assistance.

The vampire head bites your leg again, but you turn a glare that could make Celestia take a step back towards Dreamkicker.
"I would have let them go once they grew up."

Get out my talisman and mutter a prayer traditionally given to those departing with regrets, in hopes of soothing their aching souls.

I think we should try again, I just know that he's done something to the twins, and I have to find out if we're going to have a shot at fixing them.

Keeping the lich's soul tied to his head you close your eyes. Your scornful feelings about the lusty unicorn quickly lead to thought about how long it has been since your own Second Aperture was Pierced. You squirm as your imagination kicks into overdrive. Dreamicker is an ass, but he doesn't look too ugly. You haven't seen Korrin under his armor, but that only gives your imagination more room to work. Pomelo is young, but the young ones do have quite a bit of energy. You can't help but giggle as you think.

I sigh and try once more to convince him "Look, I want the best for the twins, I want to help them live peacefully. I trust your twins more than you know, they were able to feed off me with out killing me. I know they can live peacefully, just taking what they need instead of thousands of ponies.. If you really want the same you would tell me what happened. I'm no necromancer, but if we don't know, we'll never have a chance to help them properly.. Please for your children, tell me how you made them age?" I show him my scars from where they bit me, maybe that will help convince him.


"Please, answer. We have the welfare of your wards in mind now, and telling us all you know will surely let us help them."

I look confused


He doesn't respond. He just keeps babbling nonsense and muttering the word "dead" over and over again.

He looks you in the eyes, then his horn lights up and he flings himself into the pyre that was his body. The fire swells, then dies, leaving behind a large pile of ash. A few seconds later the lich teleports in with half a dozen skeletons. He looks at the pile of ash and the dead ghouls before speaking.
"Good, good. I felt him die, even though it took longer than I though. Much, much longer. Now as for your rewar-"

He stops talking and looks towards the room at the bottom left of the map. He disappears in a flash of light, then a mournful cry comes from the room. He yells back into the main chamber.
"Take whatever you want from here, just leave the bodies and my books! I must tend to the dead!"

A puff of smoke comes from the room on the bottom left and the skeletons he brought with him disappear. Everything is quiet for a few seconds, then the Twins enter the room the same way the party first did. There are four ghouls with them.


"Well, in a way…"

"You've, uh, nev-

"Look, I want to get to know you better, and you've got a lot of potential that could be unlocked at the Royal Academy. If you come back with me, we could learn more about one another and you could learn a lot more about other things, too."


"You two. We need to leave, now. That lich may not like us taking pity on vampires…"

Recall my ghoul and have it stand near me.


I am quite taken back by the sudden appearance and disappearance of the lich, but when I see the twin I run over to them, giving them a comforting motherly hug. "Ah, you're here!" I look them over to be sure they are okay.

I give them each another hug. "Do you know how to send a letter? You don't even have to put a return address, just let me know every once in a while.. I want to know you're alright, and maybe come visit you once you have a new place? It is good bye for now, but It doesn't have to stay that way.." I scribble down my address on the back of one of their colt's books. and hand it to them.


"Goodbye! Perverts…"

I pause, head dropping as I come to a realization.
"I dunno where I'll be… Pommy's probably gonna go back to Canterlot with Dreamy and they probably won't want me coming along and getting in the way of all their couple stuff…"

I nudge Dreamkicker and give pouty eyes

They walk up the staircase, giggling as they listen to Pomelo, Dreamkicker, and Bessy talk. Their ghouls follow behind them with their coffins, traveling supplies, every single one of the lich's books that their master had stolen, and most of their masters books. They stop at the top of the stairs to wave to the party, then vanish into the night.


"We are done here. Let us leave and report back to the town."


"Well I'm sure letting them go was an excellent idea.

"I will, of course, be warning the Royal Guard about those two."


"Yeah. I'm ready to get out of this horrible place"


"I'm ready to get to the nearest inn and rest."


"Yeah, lets get outta here. I want some fresh air! And I need to start making party plans!"


"Rest sounds good…!"
I yawn and head up the stairs

I walk up beside him,
"I doubt you're gonna be getting much sleep with Dreamkicker there, you sly dog you~"

The party walks up the staircase and into the cool night air, the staircase closing and magically vanishing as the last of them step off it.. The stars and moon cast enough light to illuminate the edge of the corner of the the graveyard they are in and heavily burdened shapes trundling towards the nearby forest. The light's from the town shine like a beacon as the party walks out through a freshly made hole in the fence and back to town for some rest and their reward.


Before I leave the crypt, I get out my Talisman and perform one last blessing. Let the souls of all who have suffered at the hands of one who has suffered find salvation.

You aren't sure how effective it was, but it's the thought that counts.


The vampire is dead. After a bloody fight the party was able to corner and decapitate him. Although a few of them may have questioned his sanity after the fight it wasn't until Olga questioned his spirit that they learned just how insane he truly was. While that was happening Pomelo and Dreamkicker shared a spaghetti dinner. The lich came to congratulate the party, but was more concerned with the displaced dead then them and teleported away to fix the damaged done to the skeletons. Pomelo and Dreamkicker finished their meal with an admission of friendship and a kiss, which the Twins saw as they entered the room. They split their attention between teasing the two new friends and talking with the party, before Pomelo demanded their entire attention by grabbing Dreamkicker's junk while they watched. They were impressed, but time waits for no pony. Goodbyes were said, a gift or two was exchanged, and the party followed the Twins out of the Crypt just in time to see a few ghouls disappear into the forest surrounding the town. It being too late to do anything else, the party retired to the Trotston Inn for the night.

It is early morning, and the sun is just starting to creep through the windows and around the curtains to slowly rouse the party members from whatever beds they chose. Having such a large amount of money coming their way the party could have easily chosen different rooms if they so desired.


Proceed to perform my morning prayers with my staff and talisman.

You lean your staff against the bedside table holding a small potted plant and kneel down in front of it while clutching your talisman. You spend a few minutes praying and contemplating nature, and when you get back up the plant looks vibrant and strong.

What happened last night has you a bit too distracted to pray.

A male voice answers your prayer.
"Wrong number, honey. That was an exciting night though, wasn't it?"

You leave your room and enter the third floor hallway. You and your friends rented most every room on this floor, so you can knock on doors if you feel like waking them up, or simply head downstairs and enjoy a complementary breakfast.

You should try being in the same room as him first. You should also try focusing harder.


"I guess…And I did make a new friend after all. And of course there's this…"

I bounce a little.

The four of you head downstairs. There are some tables with a few tired patrons eating breakfast on one side of the room and a bar with various breakfast foods and drinks on the other side.

After the goat leaves the room you notice that the shadows in your room are darker than they were a few seconds ago. Your headache has also grown slightly less painful.

There are some cold pancakes on the food bar.


I leave my room and go downstairs, trying to ignore the headache


I follow everyone downstairs as well, still waiting for a reply from that weird male voice so I can know just what the heck he was talking about!

Also, rolling to try and find some warm pancakes in the stack of cold ones.

Right, I'll have some lovely croissants with butter and brown sugar as well as some coffee.


I look for something to eat. Maybe some waffles or a pretty dress

The sunlight coming through the open windows makes your coat itch.

You find a cake, only it's the kind made in a pan and its cold.

You scratch all over, trying to rid rid of your itch. The patrons start staring at you, but when you try to glare at them you have to shield you eyes. When did the sun get so bright.

After sprinkling the paper over your meal you notice that they are not holy. They are from an address book.

You find a good table where you can sit in the warm sunlight and keep an eye on your friends. A few seconds after you sit down a stallion stands up from a table in the corner and sits down next to you. He turns to face you and scratches his neck before pushing a crumpled piece of paper towards you.
"I'm supposed to give you this, I think."

"Discord. I'm like Pinkie Pie, but better. Surely you've heard of me?"


"hm, I can certainly try it. " I pull him aside and try pulling off his armor and putting a soothing paste on his skin.

He stands up and walks over to the food bar and loads himself up a plate before going to sit at a different table.

Those rules get in the way of having fun. You can't tell me you weren't having fun when that arch turned you into a 'big meany pants'. I keep an eye on it so I can watch the chaos unfold whenever adventurers find it. I saw everything.

He is sitting on top of a shaved unicorn. He is using his free hoof to grab the unicorn's…oh my, this isn't the sort of thing a foal would draw at all.


"Vhat kind of procedures? Can't zis wait?"

Most of the faces are confused, but a few voices at the back of the crowd echo Bessy's question.
