Books

It's Paladinquest!

Sidus [Rogue] 365964

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 365965

365966

>>365957

Roll #1 2 = 2

Papaver Field [Mage] 365967

DM 365969

>>365957
You break his weak guard with ease.
"Hm, Good job. Again!"
'1d10'
>>365959
"Vera, now is no time to play games and act coy. This is important to me. You are important to me!
If I say I will become your servant for a year that will not mean a thing in this context. Only you can know how I can rebuild that bridge I almost burnt…"
>>365958
All ten volumes are available.
>>365960
"I did not intend to kill him. Never imply that of me."

Roll #1 7 = 7

365970

>>365969
I nod, slightly encouraged by the taste of success, and move in to attack once more

Roll #1 1 = 1

Sidus [Rogue] 365971

>>365969
"You didn't, but you fell into the same pit he did. Your reasons were different, but you were both blinded by something."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 365973

>>365969
Score. I'll take the first five. That should keep me, Star, and maybe even Vera busy for a good while.
…On second thought, I'll take all ten. Don't know if someone else will check them out while we're busy with the first five.
So! Ten books to the front desk.
"I'd like to check these out, ma'am."

Papaver Field [Mage] 365977

>>365969
"Look, I don't know. Clearly, I have a bad influence on you.
If you do have this need, as you say…
I don't know. I'm in no position to tell you what to do…"
Fall on the floor, head on my hooves.

DM 366023

>>365970
The next taste in your mouth after success is blood and dirt, after you miss your swing, hit yourself in the leg and fall over.
"Oh dear. You ok?"
>>365971
"The last thing he did alive was sink his sword into my side."
>>365973
"That's a lot of books, Cadet."
>>365977
"In that, we are the one and same.
We cannot tell each other what to do. But we can support one another. We can be friends."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 366026

>>366023
"That they are, ma'am. And they'll likely keep me busy until I can get the hang of what's in them. I'll return them as I finish them, though."
I'll look a little sheepish.
"I didn't want to risk the next volume being checked out when I came back…"

366028

>>366023
Am I?

Roll #1 2 = 2

366029

>>366028
Nope, that really fucking hurts.
I groan softly and curl up, trying a healing spell.

Roll #1 8 + 2 = 10

Sidus [Rogue] 366030

>>366023
Stay silent again.
"I don't know what to say. I could say I'm sorry, but it would change nothing."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366031

>>366023
"Yeah, right."
Sigh heavily.
"So, wanna show me how that lock works?"

DM 366038

>>366026
"That's alright. Off you go, Cadet."
>>366029
Seems that fixed it.
>>366030
"Words have no weight or value in the world. Only deeds do.
Perhaps now you understand why I did not like your attitude towards the pain tolerance test."
>>366031
"Do you still trust me enough for that?"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366040

>>366038
I get back onto my hooves
"O-Okay… I'm fine n-now…"

Sidus [Rogue] 366044

>>366038
I nod.
"I understand… but at the same time, you cannot ask me not to be daring."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 366045

>>366038
Right, well, let's drop volumes 2-through-10 off in my room, and see where I go from there.

Papaver Field [Mage] 366048

"If we don't try we'll never figure it out." Take the box and sit near him. "Besides, I trust my magic enough now. All thanks to you."

DM 366069

>>366040
"Right. Lets keep going then."
And the training went on.
Roll for overall success
>>366044
"To be daring is one thing. To be suicidal is another."
>>366045
Whereever it is, lets hope it doesn't need NPCs for a moment
>>366048
He smiles and reaches out for you, but retracts his hoof and looks down
"The lock is enchanted. If it takes too long to open, it changes configuration by itself, negating all progress made in opening it."

COME ON STAR

MASTER OF MARTIAL ARTS GOOOO

Roll #1 10 = 10

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 366092

>>366069
>can't overhear rumors of Leaf and Papaver
Well darn. There goes that plot hook.

DM 366098

>>366092
Let me sleep first. Then you can.

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 366101

>>366098
That was the plan.

Papaver Field [Mage] 366560

>>366069
"Right. So I have to be quick. How do I tell when it changes shape?"

DM 366561

>>366560
"Listen to it. It makes a little sound when it resets itself."
He pulls out a key
"The key also changes shape to compensate for the new lock configuration. I always found that to be very clever."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366562

>>366561
"So no master keys for this, uh?"
Take out the lockpicks again.
"What happens if it changes while I have the hook in it?"

DM 366563

>>366562
"It probably won't break the hook, but the hook will no longer be in the right position, meaning your progress is lost."

366564

>>366563
"Mh."
Wait for the sound, then stick the hook in the lock and start working on it, focusing on the lock.

Roll #1 3 = 3

DM 366565

>>366564
After fiddling with it for a minute, you hear a faint click and whirr.
Leaf's key changes shape.

366566

>>366565
Groan in frustration.
"I'm not giving up!"
Try again.
"But I could use some help…"

Roll #1 10 = 10

DM 366567

>>366566
He gently places his hoof on yours and helps you find the right angle wit the hook.
After a few seconds, the lock pops open.
He gives you a smile
"There we go."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366568

>>366567
Sigh.
"Right. Thanks."
Stand up.
"Want to gloathe some more with the other students and escort me to the door?"

DM 366569

>>366568
He glances at the box, then pushes it aside
"If that's what you want."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366570

>>366569
"I don't know. Do you think I'm ready for this?"
Look at him expectindly.

DM 366571

>>366570
"Ready to join the shadows that haunt the forbidden corners of this academy? The few brave enough to cut their own paths when denied passage by those who seek to order them around? Ready to break into the most closely kept secret sanctum of this place to uncover what it hides?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366572

>>366571
Shake my head.
"Ready to trust you again for the walk from here to the dorm door."

DM 366573

>>366572
"I cannot be the judge of that. Just please, never ask me to do my worst again…"
He goes to his door
"Shall we?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366574

>>366573
"Okay…"
Look down for a second.
"Then next time, show me your best, okay?"
Scoot along and join him by the door.

DM 366575

>>366574
"Next time I'll let you look in the box."
He offer his hoof as he opens the door

Papaver Field [Mage] 366576

>>366575
Widen my eyes in surprise, but take his hoof and let him accompany me to the door.

DM 366577

>>366576
Rolling to see how much attention you gather
1 - a lot, including Jon
9 - just Jon
10 - nobody
'1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

366578

>>366577
Well fuck.
Play it cool.

Roll #1 1 = 1

DM 366579

>>366578
>>366577
With a dozen or so Cadets watching with judging eyes, you begin to feel very insecure.
Leaf gives them all a harsh look in an effort to establish himself as the one in control of the situation. It does not seem to really work, and the unspoken subtext of the situation has become entirely obvious - they aren't buying the act.
In a moment of desperation, or possibly brilliance, you grab Leaf's head and kiss him in front of everyone.
Roll to not like it.

366580

>>366579
Urgh.
This was a stupid move.
Stupid, stupid move. Awkward, too. If I have to summon a dancing rainbow of swords to get out of here, this will compromise Leaf too.

Roll #1 3 = 3

DM 366581

>>366580
And worst part it was totally good for you too.
As you let go and gaze into his eyes he look surprised, then turns his head to give a confident grin to the onlookers, who grudgingly bow down and let you pass.
As you head to the door you realize Jon was in one of the doorways and saw the whole thing.
You soon reach the exit
"…what was that all about?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366582

>>366581
"I panicked, okay?"
Look away in frustration, flushing red.
Well, redder.

Sidus [Rogue] 366583

>>366069
I stay silent for a bit again, before I realize something and speak up again.
"What about friends?"

DM 366584

>>366582
"…I get the feeling you want me to just drop the subject."
>>366583
"They are important in life. They keep you on the right path.
Or… on the wrong one, if you pick the wrong friends."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366585

>>366584
"I'm sorry for… Having to do that. It was wrong."

DM 366586

>>366585
"Will you get mad if I admit I liked it?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366587

>>366586
Shake my head, but still avoid looking at him.
"You had all rights to. What I did was as bad as what you did before."

Sidus [Rogue] 366588

>>366584
"To which path did his friends lead him?"

DM 366589

>>366587
"No harm done.
I'd do it again any day."
>>366588
"He did not really have many. He had rivals and followers, but no real friends to speak of. He… often felt he should not associate with those who he felt were keeping him back."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366590

>>366589
"Yeah, it was not half b-
I mean, let's hope it never happens again.
I've put you in embarass in front of everypony in the dorm."

Sidus [Rogue] 366591

>>366589
"I understand now. It was his lack of true friends that lead him to his demise."

DM 366592

>>366590
"Not really. I had felt like my authority had been slipping lately. I think this will do me good in the long run.
…of course I do not mean to disrespect you with that statement. I'm just being honest."
He looks around
"Nobody is looking…"
>>366591
"Which stemmed from his lack of willingness to compromise enough to make, or keep, friends."

Sidus [Rogue] 366593

>>366592
I nod.
"This is also the reason why you shouldn't be worried for my safety. I have what he did not."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366594

>>366592
"Good.
Then, I think I should go. This way they won't make a scene if there is no goodbye kiss."
Sigh.
"And again, I'm sorry."
Trot off and go back to my room.

DM 366595

>>366593
"Make sure it stays that way."
>>366594
He waves goodbye to you
Welcome to to the room
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2A8XJ-d_QQ

Sidus [Rogue] 366596

>>366595
"I will."

366597

>>366595
Take a shower.
Cold.
And think about just how much trouble this thing is bringing me.

Roll #1 2 = 2

DM 366598

>>366596
"Good.
Because in the end, I fear I made the right choice with him."
>>366597
A lot of ponies are now rather convinced you and Leaf are an item.
What if Balsa finds out?
What if Nock does?

366599

>>366598
If Balsa finds… He might flip his shit, or might stop pushing me.
The first, most likely.
Nock? I can tell her. She will understand.
I will make her understand.

Sit like a very sad pony in the shower and let the water wash over me.

I should study for my classes. Get some training done…

Spend the day training in the garden, doing Blast practice.

Roll #1 8, 10, 1, 6, 4, 5, 3, 6, 1, 10 = 54

Sidus [Rogue] 366600

>>366598
"He was beyond saving."
Smile slightly.
"And that is why I must thank you for your concern. And for sharing this."

DM 366601

>>366599
Though you end up getting a pair of perfect Blasts off, you also are too distracted to be careful when training, and end up rather bruised and sore.
Rolling to see if anyone in particular happened to be watching
1 - Balsa
2 - Leaf
3 - the brothers
'1d3'

Roll #1 1 = 1

DM 366602

>>366600
"He would have become a far greater evil than I could ever allow to walk this world…
…and thanks for listening. It.. felt good to finally talk about this."
>>366601
Looks like Balsa was calmly observing your efforts

Papaver Field [Mage] 366603

>>366601
>>366602
Well approach him, sweaty and tired as I am.
Stand in front of him and say nothing, raising a brow to him, sword across my back.

Sidus [Rogue] 366604

>>366602
I nod.
"You taught me something very important today."

DM 366605

>>366603
"Rough day?"
>>366604
"I'm glad I'm finally getting though to you."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366606

>>366605
"You could say so. And I'm re-thinking our agreement."

Sidus [Rogue] 366607

>>366605
"Who said you haven't before?"

DM 366608

>>366606
"Oh? I hope it's nothing bad.
How about we go get some drinks and talk it over? Would you like that?"
>>366607
He raises a brow
"The fact that you seemingly refused everything I said to you."

Sidus [Rogue] 366609

>>366608
Smirk.
"There is always more than it meets the eye."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366610

>>366608
"I'm kind of a mess right now, Balsa…"

DM 366611

>>366609
"I'm glad you've grown since your miserable failure in the pain test."
>>366610
"I wanted to help with that."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366612

>>366611
"Right. Sure, why not. As long as there aren't too many ponies around."

DM 366613

>>366612
"There are all sorts of private nooks and crannies in this place we can use.
Or we can simply use my room. Lonely as it gets, living alone has its perks."

Sidus [Rogue] 366614

>>366611
"I haven't lost my memory though. You yourself said it cannot be won, and if you can't win something, you can't lose either."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366615

>>366613
"Urgh. No. Please, I've had enough with the sword dorm for today.
And it's just a drink."

DM 366616

>>366614
"It is a test of character as much as it is a test of endurance."
>>366615
"If you wish. Do you want to go wash up first?"

366617

>>366616
"I… Yeah. I should. Meet me in the dinery in half a hour."

Time to take another shower I guess.
Any more shower meditations, wise voice?

Roll #1 1 = 1

DM 366618

>>366617
You already have a reputation as Leaf's mare now.
What if he actually challenges you to a duel?
What if he really lets loose some day? Could anyone protect you?
…maybe Balsa? But what about Nock?
Can you really rely on her about this?
Can you really?
…it was a really nice kiss though…

Papaver Field [Mage] 366619

>>366618
Damn it all to hell.
I am supposed to be Nock's mare, not Leaf's! I love her! Who cares for a kiss, she's given me more than that, and I've betrayed her for my wish to… Know, to know something I'm not supposed to.
I hate myself for this.
And if Leaf tries anything I'm totally gelding him. He'll make a great Royal Guard.
I should hide in here for a while.
Yeah.
That might help.
Curl up and hide in the shower.
'1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

DM 366620

>>366619
You are lucky not to catch a cold.
After a while, you calm down.

Papaver Field [Mage] 366621

>>366620
Right.
I should show up. I gave Balsa my word.
After all, I'm a paladin. I'm not here to set up a family.

Go meet with Balsa.

DM 366622

>>366621
He got you a tall drink with a little umbrella in it
"You sure took your time."

366623

>>366622
"Stopped to think some. I'm sorry."
A fruit drink?
I should totally drink this totally new and never seen before drink right here and now with no prejudice whatsoever!

Roll #1 8 = 8

Sidus [Rogue] 366624

>>366616
"I did achieve at least something with it."

DM 366625

>>366623
It's really tasty and refreshing. A little tangy, but sweet. You feel considerably better after drinking it.
"No problem. So, how have you been?"
>>366624
"You also achieve something by jumping head first into a well."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366626

Well, that was surprising to say the least.
Let's have a chat with Leaf Blade…

DM 366627

>>366626
"Hm? What do you want?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366628

>>366627
"So… what in Tartarus was that all about? You know Vera's taken, right?"

Sidus [Rogue] 366629

>>366625
"Jumping in a well is pointless though."
Grin.
"Are you saying that respecting you is pointless as well?"

366630

>>366625
"I had a chat with Nock… She didn't like the idea.
And a roommate of mine wants to help.
Oh, and there's somepony that likes you."

Roll #1 6 = 6

DM 366631

>>366628
"So I've heard. By an inquisitor's daughter no less."
>>366629
"Yes.
…but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate it."
He smiles at you
>>366630
"Cadet Crescent?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366632

>>366631
Nod.
"You two met already?"
Take another sip.

Sidus [Rogue] 366633

>>366631
Smile back.
"I would be glad if we could train together one day."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366634

>>366631
I'll nod.
"The same. Apparently her dad's also the Spellbreaker teacher, too. Spell Seeker, I think she said."

"But that's not the point. What was Vera doing in the sword dorm anyway? And in broad daylight?"

DM 366635

>>366632
"No, not yet.
But I'm hoping we will tonight."
He sighs
"So, what's this about you wanting to drop out of our plan?"
>>366633
"Come find me any day you'd like."
>>366634
"That is between me and her."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366636

>>366635
"I had some… Problems, while sneaking into the sword dorm…"

Sidus [Rogue] 366637

>>366635
"Thanks. I will."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366638

>>366635
I'll look him in the eye.
"Leaf, I don't know you beyond this thing with Balsa, and that you've helped Vera get comfortable with her magic. But don't think for one second that I'm not going to make sure nothing… untoward happens to my friend. Second-year or no, if you hurt her, I may do something that'd get us both expelled."

DM 366639

>>366636
"So I heard."
>>366637
"What that all then?"
>>366638
"Is that a threat? And I seek to bring no harm to Vera. She is a very sweet mare who needs a guiding light to help her out of the darkness she has fallen into. And if I can be even a part of that light, I will do it."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366640

>>366639
Groan.
"Hear? Already?"
Bury my face between my hooves.

Sidus [Rogue] 366641

>>366639
I nod.
"Yes. Thank you for your time."
Stand up.

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366642

>>366639
"So long as you remember boundaries, Leaf, it isn't."
Then I'll sit on the floor, and sigh a little.
"Just wish she'd come to her friends for a little help instead of getting herself a reputation instead. You know Nock's going to hear about this, right? And you know what she thinks about mages…"

DM 366643

>>366640
"I heard it from a pair of cadets who saw you. Then… that's not really my business, is it?"
>>366641
"Dismissed then."
>>366642
"I would assume she, as an inquisitor, is trained to be blind and hateful like all their ilk."

Sidus [Rogue] 366644

>>366643
Leave his office.

Papaver Field [Mage] 366645

>>366643
"It was a damn accident. I asked Leaf to help me with the sneaking… I wanted to be ready for tonight…"

DM 366646

>>366644
Welcome to outside his office.
>>366645
"An accident?
Hm. Do tell. I would rather not have any misconceptions if I can avoid them."

Sidus [Rogue] 366647

>>366646
It's pretty spacey here!

Go to the Smith again.

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366648

>>366643
I'll nod slightly.
"I've gotten into a few fights with her on the subject, especially when it came to Vera."
I'll shake my head a little.
"But Vera's the only one she likes. Every other mage, divine or otherwise, they're all the same to her. She may think she's being polite about it, but she can be incredibly back-hoofed in how she talks."

"Anyway. The point of this is that I don't want you to do something that would end up hurting Vera."

DM 366649

>>366647
"Hm? Back already?"
>>366648
"I would never hurt her. Not on purpose.
I'd be more wary of a loose cannon inquisitor who only gives her special treatment because she feels like it. That's just a ticking time bomb if you ask me, provided your statement about her hatred of magic is true."

Sidus [Rogue] 366650

>>366649
I nod.
"And I need more work."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366651

>>366646
"Please tell me you won't tell nopony…"
Sigh.
"I asked Leaf to help me. Show me how to pick a lock, how to sneak.
But I got caught, and he saved me from a bunch of cadets.
Then when I was leaving his room, there were just too many and I panicked and… Yeah."

DM 366652

>>366650
"…okay? This sounds like there is more to it. Do tell."
>>366651
"And you went to him rather than me because…?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366653

>>366649
"I don't doubt that either. But that doesn't mean we should set the clock running. Only reason I'm trying to be friendly with Nock is because Star and Vera want me to."
I'll sigh again.
"Anyway, just make sure there aren't any 'accidents.' I know Vera likes you, but I trust you about as far as I can throw you."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366654

>>366652
"Because you are the one I have to prove myself to?"

Sidus [Rogue] 366655

>>366652
"I signed up for the undercover mission for the gala, and I need a suit. To do that, I need to be able to go to Canterlot. And I can get a leave by working more here at the forge, or so the Battlemaster said."

DM 366656

>>366653
"I don't particularly blame you for that.
Still. I won't stop helping her. Because I know how she feels better than anyone."
>>366654
"True as that might be, that doesn't mean I can't help you with the process.
Though I will admit Leaf was probably your best option after myself. In term of skill I'd call him my equal. In terms of personality… not necessarily."
>>366655
"Well, that makes sense. I'm glad you picked me for that."

Sidus [Rogue] 366657

>>366656
"It helps me too. The more I work the more I learn!"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366658

>>366656
"Yeah. We had this conversation.
I think I made a mistake asking him. He wants to… Come back."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366659

>>366656
"I don't want you to stop helping her with her magic. But I also don't want you taking advantage of your lessons."
I'll shuffle my hooves.
"And don't have them in the Sword dorm. She doesn't need that kind of attention, or reputation. We've got that secret room for a reason, after all."

DM 366660

>>366657
"Very true, boy.
Lets get to work then."
Do you wish to actually play this out?
>>366658
"…shit…"
He looks a little spooked
>>366659
"First you make some rather nasty implications of my desire to help her and then you start giving me orders?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366661

>>366660
"….He was that bad, uh?"

Sidus [Rogue] 366662

>>366660
Unless you have anything better in mind.

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366663

>>366660
"Suggestions, not orders."
I'll rub the back of my neck.
"Can't I be worried about my friend? She didn't even know what dating was until I had to tell her."

DM 366664

>>366661
"I think in the long run even he realized that. He was pragmatic, almost cold. He didn't even have fun doing it. He saw it as some kind of mission, while to the rest of us, it was a game.
Well, maybe game is a little light in my case, but I still enjoyed doing it. He… he just did it. No smile, no congratulations or bragging in the end. Just… nothing."
>>366662
I'm trying to get everything set and ready for the gala. We can even timeskip to your shopping trip in Canterlot.
>>366663
"She's from Eaglecrest, no?
Her culture is very different from ours. And I intended to respect that, rather than impose my own values on her."

Sidus [Rogue] 366665

>>366664
Cool, that means Burning was a good little mare and succeeded~

Yeah, I'm okay with that, just give a quick recap on the smithing progression.

Papaver Field [Mage] 366666

>>366664
"I'm not gonna drag him into this if I can help."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366667

>>366664
"What do you mean they're different? I know they've got a difference between sparring and dueling when it comes to finding somepony, but how different can it be?"

DM 366668

>>366666
"Let me just ask one thing. Did he try to do anything to you?"
>>366667
"Eaglecrest always valued individuality. Everypony was a nation onto themselves, free to set their own rules and act as they saw fit. The strong ruled and the weak trained harder to better themselves. Their armies were not so much a single force, but an alliance between hundreds of individuals.
And this extended to the way they viewed families as well. Indeed, Eaglecrest had no real concept of a family like Equestria does. It was rare for both parents to raise a child. Many here look down on ponies who enjoy one-night-stands and hop from relationship to relationship. But in old Eaglecrest, that was the norm. You fight, and if you end up liking the fight, you sleep with them and hen be on your way to find a new conquest."
>>366665
Over the next days you worked int he forge, learning the properties of metals, how to fold steel to remove impurities, and how to balance a weapon properly.
After you present the smith with a simple but well made sword you yourself forged, he approves your work and signs a notice to the battlemaster.

366669

>>366668
"W-what are you-"
Trying not to look too surprised.

Roll #1 4 = 4

DM 366670

>>366669
"So he did…"

Sidus [Rogue] 366671

>>366668
Aww yes, I can make weapons now!

What about Burning?

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366672

>>366668
I'll just stare at him for a second.
"If that were still true, then Vera wouldn't have been so upset about the thought of her family disowning her for knowing magic. Besides, she chose to stick with Nock. If anything, that should be a big sign to not try and force old Eaglecrest values on her, right?"

DM 366673

>>366671
Having increased her scores in all physical fields, she was approved for leave as well.
You both have from sunrise to sundown to visit Canterlot.

DM 366674

>>366672
"That is up to her, really. But I simply do not feel it is right for me to assume she prefers Equestrian values unless she says so herself."

Sidus [Rogue] 366675

>>366673
I'm going to guess this will take all my saved up money, but oh well!
A suit is a suit!

Wake up early in the morning, before sunrise, get ready, then sneak in her window.

Papaver Field [Mage] 366676

>>366670
"You mean that's.. That it has happened other times?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366677

>>366674
"True enough."
I'll tap my hoof a little.
"Well, nice as this chat was, Leaf, I need to be going. Have a good day."
And with a curt nod, I'll set off to find Papaver.

Papaver Field [Mage] 366678

>>366677
I think this is around the time I'm in the fields training blast.

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366679

>>366678
Unless I take enough time looking that it rolls over into your drink with Balsa.

DM 366680

>>366675
She has packed a little bag.
Springwind is sleeping soundly
"Morning dear~"
>>366676
"I've never actually witnessed it, but he gave off that vibe a lot.
Please don't tell me he actually did anything terrible to you."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366681

>>366679
I stood there a lot, but sure, drop in wherever you like.
>>366680
"No."
Look at him with a calm but cold expression.
"He didn't. He stopped when I told him to. And that's that."
Take another small sip, then go back to looking at him.
"Besides, I can take him."

DM 366682

>>366681
"No offense, but I highly doubt that."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366683

>>366681
Then I shall.
Though I'll stop a bit short when I see you sharing a drink with Balsa.
What if I'm wrong about things? No, Vera's not that kind of mare. She wouldn't lie about something like that.
Shaking my head a little, I'll walk up.
"Hey there, Vera. Who's your friend?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366684

>>366682
Narrow my eyes at him.
"And if I cannot, my Nock can. She's even stronger than me. And I'm maybe the strongest cadet around.
I feel safe enough."
>>366683
"Jon, this is Balsawood. Balsa, this is Jonagold."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366685

>>366684
I'll nod to Balsa.
"Hope you don't mind the interruption. Just wanted to talk to my friend a bit, though I can wait if you two are busy."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366686

>>366685
"Uh. It's about… That?"

DM 366687

>>366684
"Make no mistake. He can be scary in a fi-
…oh, hello, Cadet Jonagold."
>>366685
"Certainly, so long as the lady is fine with it."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366688

>>366686
I'll nod.
"Amongst other things."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366689

>>366687
>>366688
"I think you should sit."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366690

>>366689
"If you like."
And I'll pull up a chair.

Papaver Field [Mage] 366691

>>366690
"If it's about what's happened in the dorm, it's okay, you can talk in front of Balsa."

Sidus [Rogue] 366692

>>366680
"Good morning~"
Give her a little kiss.
"Ready to get a pretty dress?~"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366693

>>366691
"Fine. Leaf Blade wouldn't tell me what you two were up to in his room, so I'm all ears. And I know it wasn't… that, because that's not how you are, but… coming to the sword dorm in broad daylight when we've got that secret room?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366694

>>366693
Sigh.
"He was teaching me how to pick magic locks.
And hide.
But it happens I failed the second part."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366695

>>366694
"I'll say. So what do you plan on telling Nock, then? She's likely not going to take this lying down, even if nothing happened."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366696

>>366695
"As soon as I can find her, of course. It's obvious nothing happened!
I just panicked when all those students where ganging up on us!"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366697

>>366696
You looked pretty into that kiss, though.
"And what'd you need to learn to pick locks for, anyway?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366698

>>366697
"That's another matter. And I've talked about that only with Nock."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366699

>>366697
Well yeah dumbass, I imagine it was my Nocky to make it look realistic!

DM 366700

>>366692
"Oh yes.
Should we hurry? We only have twelve hours…
"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366701

>>366698
I'll frown a little.
"Vera, I'm your friend, and you're starting to worry me. I don't expect you to tell me everything, but… Can't you at least give me an idea, in case I should be trying to help?"

DM 366702

>>366701
Balsa turns to look at you
"Don't distress the lady, Cadet."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366703

>>366701
Return his frown with one of my own, staring at him.
"I don't want any more ponies hurt because of this.
Like I told Star, I will be sneaking into the Headmaster's collection.
Why, I can't tell you."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366704

>>366702
"She's not made of glass."
>>366703
"Fine. What can I do to help?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366705

>>366704
Look in surprise at him.
"Oh no. I'm not dragging you too into this."

Sidus [Rogue] 366706

>>366700
I nod.
"That's why I came before sunrise, so we have as much time as possible. Let's go."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366707

>>366705
"Hey, I was there the first time you told the headmaster about your nightmares. You said something about a symbol, and he said something about his collection. It's not hard to see where this is going."
I'll give her a little grin.
"Besides, I was curious about what was down there anyway. And Star wouldn't forgive me if I let her best friend get hurt."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366708

>>366707
Stand up and put my hooves on the table.
"No! I'm not taking you with me! If you get hurt, Star will never stop crying!
You have nothing to do in there!"

DM 366709

>>366706
She gives you a little kiss and levitates her bag out the window.
>>366704
"I know that very well."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366710

>>366708
"I have looking after my friend to do in there."
I'll cross my forelegs.
"And even if you say I shouldn't go, I'll probably follow you in anyway. I'm a lot less stealthy, though."
She's right, though. Star probably would be in tears if I got hurt. Just means I shouldn't get hurt, then.

Sidus [Rogue] 366711

>>366709
I'll let her go out the window first.
Enjoy the view, hehe

Then follow and go to the gates.

Papaver Field [Mage] 366712

>>366710
"No. You don't.
Because I'm gonna tell Star."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366713

>>366712
"And when you do, she'll want to come along to, because she doesn't want you to get hurt either. You were her first, and best, friend, Vera. There's no way she'd let you go in by yourself."

DM 366714

>>366711
The gate guards are there as usual
"Halt. What business?"
>>366707
Balsa eyes you and huffs

Sidus [Rogue] 366715

>>366714
Show them the papers.

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366716

>>366714
I'll raise an eyebrow at him.
I seem to be treading on hooves. Wonder if he knows she's taken?

Papaver Field [Mage] 366717

>>366713
"I already told her and prohibited her from coming! Jon if I get caught… That's not a problem.
Do you understand what I'm talking about?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366718

>>366717
I'll look her in the eye.
"Papaver Field, you are being an idiot. Of course it would be a problem if you get caught. You'd get expelled at best. And at worst, I don't want to run across what's left of you while I'm mucking out the dungeons."

DM 366719

>>366715
"Mhm. Mhm.
Well, this checks out. Be back before sundown."
"Have a nice day you two."
They open the gates.
>>366716
"You think you have what it takes to reach the Collection, big guy?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366720

>>366718
"Yeah but it doesn't matter! Because I'm wrong! Because my life is a big joke two heretic demons are playing on me!"

Sidus [Rogue] 366721

>>366719
"We will!"
As soon as we walk out, hold tails with Burning and smile at her.
"I know where we can get a chariot."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366722

>>366073
MASTER OF MARTIAL ARTS REPORTING IN

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366723

>>366719
"I think I've got what it takes to look after my friend, if she'll let me."
>>366720
"You think being friends with Star is a joke? With me? You're only looking at what you think is bad. You think your family disowned you for having magic? So what, come join the Apple family. We can always use the help. And you've got Nock, who loves you, even if she is a…"
I'll bite my tongue at the last bit and shake my head.
"Anyway, your life isn't a joke, Vera. It matters. And if you think a couple of demons are having a laugh at you, then we'll just kick them in the face and be done with it."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366724

>>366723
Fall back on the chair.
"I don't want to be the one who brings you down with me, Jon…"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366725

>>366724
"If I go down, it's because it was my choice to do so. Just like it's your choice to just sit there and let whatever you think is happening, happen."

DM 366726

>>366721
"Do tell~"
>>366722
After you r lumping roundhouse kick splits his shield and sends him flying into the bushes, you feel like a total badass.
>>366723
"Let me tell you this much: I can see, plain as day, that you would not last a moment in infiltration."

Sidus [Rogue] 366727

>>366726
Show her instead.
Go to that chariot station.

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366728

>>366726
O-Oh no!
Go over there and check on him!
"A-Are you okay, sir!?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366729

>>366725
Look at the side with clenched teeth.
"Damn you. I should never have told anypony about it in the first place."
>>366726
"Balsa, I'm leaving."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366730

>>366726
"So? Headmaster says he only puts ponies he trusts to guard the place, so there are either no guards at all, or very few."
>>366729
"This isn't over, Vera."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366731

>>366730
"I wish this damn day never happened."

Go back to my room.

DM 366732

>>366727
The charioteer is eating breakfast on his porch
"Heya Cadets. Where you off to?"
>>366728
"I'll live. Nice hit though.
I think that's enough training for now."
>>366729
>>366731
"Papaver! Ah… well. Later."
>>366730
"You really have no idea what's between us and that collection."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366733

>>366732
I nod skittishly
"S-Sorry… I just g-got excited…"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366734

>>366731
I'll frown as she goes.
>>366732
"No. But why should it matter? If my friend needs help getting in there, then I can't just say I won't do anything to help because I don't know what's down there."

366735

>>366732
Screw everything. I know what I will have to do.
Take the warhammer-guitar.
Climb to the roof.
Be sneaky about it.

Roll #1 7 = 7

Sidus [Rogue] 366736

>>366732
"We need a place where we can get a nice suit and a nice dress for the Grand Galloping Gala. Know any?"

DM 366737

>>366733
"That's fine. Remember how you did that. It will be useful later in life, I'm sure."
>>366734
"Have you ever heard the story of Highflanks?"
>>366735
Welcome to the roof. You are quite alone here.
>>366736
"Oh plenty. Canterlot has the finest fashion this side of Prance after all."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366738

>>366737
I'll think for a second.
"Don't… think so. I'm guessing this is one of those cautionary tales that got swept under the rug and is used to scare students?"

Sidus [Rogue] 366739

>>366737
Hop on the chariot, and smirk.
"Then I doubt the Academy will mind if you take us there on their tab."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366740

>>366737
I nod
"I-I'll try my b-best…"
Right, that was unexpectedly successful
I'd have liked to speak to Sidus first, but I guess I'll just go find Jon instead

366741

>>366737
Good.
Set the hammer down.
Try a quieter tune than usual. Something… Lively but not imposing.
"What's a mare to do-"

Roll #1 8 = 8

DM 366742

>>366738
"Not that the faculty would ever speak of it. Highflanks was a student here once. He liked to break the rules and go where he was not allowed to. They say he visited every off-limits area there is.
Then he went for the Collection, but was caught. He was never seen again, but we all know what really happened.
They killed him for trying it."
>>366739
"Well the Academy's money is always good for me. Shall I just pick one for you or?"
>>366740
Boop >>366738
>>366741
You play quietly enough to not attract background singers

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366743

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366744

>>366742
"And you took that as a challenge, I take it."
I'll shake my head.
"Just like my fool of a roommate would. I'm guessing you're the one that's got him dying his clothes black?"

Sidus [Rogue] 366745

>>366742
"I trust your judgement if you know any good places."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366746

>>366743
"Hi Star. How'd practice go?"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366747

>>366746
I smile
"I-It was great! Uh… I-I just got a little t-too excited at the end…"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366748

>>366742
How lucky of me.
I guess that cleared my mind. Gotta do this.
Who cares about what ponies think.
I'm nopony's mare but my own, not even Nock's.
And I won't let Jon get hurt for this.

I can wait till night and then try to sneak into Balsa's room as he told me.

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366749

>>366747
I'll nod.
"I saw a little of it."

DM 366750

>>366744
"Your roommate?"
>>366745
"Off we go then!"
He starts running for Canterlot
What a guy. Even with two ponies and a wagon, he is still faster than you.
>>366748
Time warp?

Papaver Field [Mage] 366751

>>366750
I think that's the only choice, mister Spok.

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366752

>>366749
"I really… I t-think all the t-training is starting to p-pay off!"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366753

>>366750
"Sidus. Saw you talking with him one day, figured his ego wouldn't let him be second to anypony."
>>366752
"That's great. Maybe you're ready to train with Vera?"

Sidus [Rogue] 366754

>>366750
Enjoy the chariot ride with Burning.
Hold her close with a hoof.

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366755

>>366753
"M-Maybe…"
I scratch my head with a hoof
"S-So… what have y-you been doing?"

DM 366756

>>366751
Ker-POMF
It is night.
Lights out and no moving outside without a Moon badge.
>>366753
"Ah yes, him. I do remember him Though we haven't spoken since Hearts and Hooves."
>>366754
She leans against you softly but keeps her hooves to herself.
"Aaaand here we are. Boutique Posh."

Sidus [Rogue] 366757

>>366756
Help Burning off then hop off the chariot myself.
"So this is a good place? Also, do you mind waiting for us? This might take a while, but once we are done, we could use your services for a bit of sightseeing."

366758

>>366756
Slip out of bed and move to the exit of the dorm. Time to get to Sword, stealthy style.

Roll #1 5 = 5

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366759

>>366755
"A little custodial work here and there. Can't go to the gala in a borrowed suit, after all."
I'll tap the first volume of the defense books I brought with me.
"Also decided to pick up some light reading on defense techniques. Thought we'd both get a good use out of that."
>>366756
"Hmm."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366760

>>366759
I look at the books in glee and nod quickly
"R-Right! I-I do feel a little b-bad that you're doing all this work w-while Vera is getting me a d-dress for free…"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366761

>>366760
"Don't worry about it. I just hope I can earn enough so that I don't end up embarrassing you."

DM 366762

>>366757
"Ya sure. I'll be eating in the cafe over there."
>>366758
There are some guards patrolling the yard.
And curiously, another pony, who the guards simply wave past as she heads for Sword.
>>366759
"I see I am intruding. But I must ask, did you really pick up custodial work out of your free will?"

Sidus [Rogue] 366763

>>366762
"Thanks!"

Turn to Burning and motion her inside.
"Shall we?"

366764

>>366762
What.
Can I notice anything about her? Dress or some kind of ID on her…

Roll #1 8 = 8

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366765

>>366761
I blush
"I-I don't think that's p-possible, Jon…"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366766

>>366762
I'll look at him oddly.
"Well, yeah. Don't feel right asking for money while working in the kitchens, especially after the head chef did me a big favor on Hearts and Hooves, and there's always something that needs cleaning. Figured it was a good way to earn some coin."
>>366765
'1d10' to contain sadness.
"Is that so?"

Roll #1 2 = 2

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366767

>>366766
Seeing him deflate like that, I gasp and quickly hug him
"W-Wait no! I meant it's n-not possible for you to e-embarrass me! I'm j-just happy w-we're going together no matter what y-you wear! S-Sorry!"

DM 366768

>>366763
She takes you hoof with a giggle.
Welcome to Boutique Posh. It even smells classy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NgXVVRboyk
>>366764
A cadet. Female. Carries a Moon Badge.
>>366766
"Hm. Well, your call. The bestiary can be quite gribbly to muck out though."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366769

>>366767
Well, that'll cheer me up a bit.
"Still, I don't plan on showing up naked."
>>366768
"So I've heard. But dirty jobs have to get done, and who knows when we'd run into something worse once we're actually paladins and out in the world?"

Sidus [Rogue] 366770

>>366768
Giggly mares are 2qt

Lead her inside, and look for a… uh, well, you know, someone who can tell us how to get our outfits.

366771

>>366768
Those must be the night classes!
Out of the bushes. Go back to my room. Star must have one!

Roll #1 5 = 5

DM 366772

>>366770
A few assistants come to you
"Welcome, welcome!"
"How may we help you two?"
>>366771
She does indeed.
One.

Sidus [Rogue] 366773

>>366772
"We need outfits for the Grand Galloping Gala!"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366774

>>366769
I keep hugging him tight
"I k-know… I'm s-sorry…"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366775

>>366774
"Star, really, there's nothing to be sorry about."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366776

>>366775
"But I h-hurt your feelings!"

DM 366777

>>366773
"Oh! High class customers we see"
"I will get the owner at once. He insists on dealing with all gala outfits personally. Please wait over there."
The assistant points you to some comfy benches by a little fountain in the shop

Papaver Field [Mage] 366778

>>366772
But she's asleep right now, no? She doesn't have to go to this class, right?
If she does, just ignore that. Go back and try to sneak in normally.

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366779

>>366776
I'll roll my eyes a little.
"And I'll live."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366780

>>366779
"I know but…"
I release him from the hug
"Fine…"

Sidus [Rogue] 366781

>>366777
Walk over there and sit down with Burning.
"Are you excited?~"

DM 366782

>>366781
"And how~
I can't wait to see you in full formal gear~"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366783

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366784

>>366780
"Remember, I said you never have to apologize to me."
I'll lightly boop her nose.
"And besides, I'm not going to get angry at a few bruised feelings."

Sidus [Rogue] 366785

>>366782
"And I can't wait to see you in a dress that will enchance your beauty~"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366786

>>366784
I scrunch
"O-Okay…"
I then look around the area
"Uh… s-so what do y-you want to do?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366787

>>366786
"Well, if Balsawood there is tired of hearing us talk, I suppose we could excuse ourselves and start reading this book."

DM 366788

>>366778
>>366780
CADET HOPPER!
Are you asleep this night?
>>366785
Before her mind can wander, the assistants return, flanking a haughty looking pony in a fine, almost flamboyant ensemble.
"Aaaah there you are. I hear you are going to the Grand Gala, yes?
I am Pish Posh, owner of this boutique."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366789

>>366787
I grin and nod quickly

>>366788
I'm probably in nightclass, no?

366790

>>366789
This means I'm trying to get past the guards the classic way.
Anything that I could use?
As in, places to hide.

Roll #1 7 = 7

Sidus [Rogue] 366791

>>366788
I nod.
"Pleased to meet you. And yes, that's right, we are here to get a suit and a dress fitting for such an occasion."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366792

>>366789
And then I'll politely excuse myself from the table to Balsa, and we'll retreat to…
"So, where would you like to go, Star?"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366793

>>366792
"Uh…"
I blush slightly
"M-Maybe the secret r-room?"

DM 366794

>>366790
Bushes and shadows mostly.
Or you could bullshit your way through.
>>366791
"Splendid. Please follow me, and tell what, exactly, you had in mind."

366795

>>366794
I know, but lying is not…
Not something I want to do. As a paladin. As a pony.
Try to get past them by the bushes. If they are at the door, look for someplace to climb.

Roll #1 5 = 5

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Knight] 366796

>>366793
Then that's where we go.
And I'm being roped into a family thing, sorry.

Sidus [Rogue] 366797

>>366794
Take Burning's hoof like a true gentlecolt and follow.
"I need a suit, something that is elegant, but at the same time, practical, and above all, makes me look good."
Turn to her.
"And your dress? You know what you'd like."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366798

>>366796
Later then
I guess before that happens… I can go visit Crescent's room?

DM 366799

>>366795
It seems the moon badge wearer is headed for sword dorm too, and beating you there because she can walk right past the guards.
She starts climbing the plans on the wall.
>>366797
Burning nods
"Very well, very well. So, would you prefer a more military style, or a royal style?"
>>366798
Sure thing.

Sidus [Rogue] 366800

>>366799
"Hmm… Royal should be good."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366801

>>366799
Right then, knock on her door. Hopefully she's not feeling too ded

366802

>>366799
Climbing the plants? Oh. Smart!
I like it!
Now, is Balsa's room far from here?

Roll #1 6 = 6

DM 366803

>>366800
"Lovely. Right this way please~"
He enters a side room
>>366801
She open the door, rubbing her eyes
"What time is it?"
>>366802
It's on the second floor.
…that other mare is heading right for its window.

Papaver Field [Mage] 366804

>>366803
What.
Watch her do.

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366805

>>366803
"L-Late afternoon? Are you still too t-tired?"

Sidus [Rogue] 366806

>>366803
Follow him again.

DM 366807

>>366804
She notices a flower jammed under the window, plucks it out and tries to open the window itself.
She seems surprised that it isn't locked.
>>366805
"I'll manage. What's up?"
>>366806
The room is full of mannequins wearing various outfits
"Now then. We need to pick a base cut and how to decorate it."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366808

>>366807
"I uh… I s-spoke to Balsa…"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366809

>>366807
Well now. Climb after her. Why the hell would somepomy else climb to Balsa's room?

Sidus [Rogue] 366810

>>366807
I nod.
"Let's get to it right away then."

DM 366811

>>366808
She perks up instantly
"A-and?"
>>366809
You can hear some talking before you reach the window
"So, I see you came"
"Y-yeah I… I wouldn't want to miss this chance…"
>>366810
"Fantastic~
So, tell me your wishes."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366812

>>366811
"He told me t-that you'd have to take initiative y-yourself and visit h-his room tonight… he'll h-have m-marked it with a flower o-outside his window…"

Papaver Field [Mage] 366813

>>366811
Uh. Must be somepony else for the sneaking thing. I should totally wait behind the window and listen in to their conversation thou. Just not to bother them, of course!

Sidus [Rogue] 366814

>>366811
"I want it to be simple, but classy."

DM 366815

>>366812
She squees a little
"Oh my I gotta prepare…"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366816

>>366815
I nod slightly
"O-Of course… good luck. I h-hope this helped."

DM 366817

>>366813
"So you must be Crescent then?"
"Y-yeah… I've sort of been a fan of yours for a while now…"
"Flattering."
"Yeah…
…um…"
"Yes?"
"M-mind if I come closer?"
>>366814
"Simple… simple hmmm…
How covering should it be? The simplest I've done was just a hat, collar and spats."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366818

>>366817
Oh. Great. Sit out here and wait, I wouldn't want to bother them now that I know who she is.

Sidus [Rogue] 366819

>>366817
"I want a full suit, of course, but without anything frilly that's not needed. That sort of simple."

DM 366820

>>366816
"How can I ever thank you enough?"
>>366818
"Go ahead. But we must not waste all night. I have business to attend to as well."
"O-oh… I didn't know…"
"Well, lets enjoy what time we have, at least, ok?"
"Okay…"
>>366819
"Hm… very well. Lets measure you up then.
Is a tail coat to your liking?"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366821

>>366820
I smile at her
"Y-You've been really n-nice to me… t-that's all I can ask for…"

Sidus [Rogue] 366822

>>366820
"Only if it doesn't impair movement or hold me up."

DM 366823

>>366821
"Well don't hesitate to ask for more if oyu think of anything"
>>366822
"Not unless you are the kind who gets his tail stuck in doors."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366824

>>366823
I nod again
"O-Okay… thank you… And t-thank you for g-giving me a chance t-to go to night class…"

Sidus [Rogue] 366825

>>366823
"I'm not, but you know how other ponies might be! Let's just stay safe and drop that."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366826

>>366820
Oh, great. Well, wait half a hour or so, then tap on the windows.

DM 366827

>>366824
"My pleasure. Praise the night!"
>>366825
"You really are sounding terribly dull mr. Practical…
Oh fine. I suppose no cape either then?"
>>366826
Lets see how far it got
1 - all the way
10 - nothing at all
'1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

DM 366828

>>366827
Seems they got a little touchy-feely.
"Ah, seems like our time is up."

Sidus [Rogue] 366829

>>366827
"No capes… but a collar might be good."

Papaver Field [Mage] 366830

>>366828
Sigh and enter.
"Really, you didn't put up much of a challange. What with the unlocked window and easy to climb wines just outside…"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366831

>>366827
I smile at her
"Praise the night. I-I'll leave you now so you can get b-back to sleeping…"

DM 366832

>>366829
He sighs
"Hm, fine.
Oh, here's an idea! How about a high collar coat worn on the shoulders? A little military, yes, but I can spice it up to be more flashy."
>>366830
"…oh right. I forgot to lock the window. Haaa… silly me. This is Waning Crescent by the way."
Crescent gives a shy wave
>>366831
"Thanks again~"
She goes2bed

Star Hopper [Cleric] 366833

>>366832
And so should you

Sidus [Rogue] 366834

>>366832
"If you can pull it off to make it seem good, I'm okay with that."

DM 366835

NEXT TIME ON THE ENDLESS ADVENTURE OF HORSE PENIS

PREPARATION
PENETRATION
AND PERSPIRATION

Papaver Field [Mage] 366836

>>366832
"We met." Smile at her.
"Will you join us then?"

367636

I am once again on the training fields on my own accord, hitting a dummy with my mace.
Rolling to see how I'm faring

Roll #1 6 = 6

Sidus [Rogue] 367641

>>367636
This was supposedly before my trip to Canterlot.

Well, well, who do I see here.
Let's see if I can sneak up on her without her noticing.
'1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

Sidus [Rogue] 367643

>>367641
There's no way she can see me coming.
Let's stay hidden and keep watching for a bit.

367644

>>367641
I don't even suspect it in the slightest.
Thus, I continue striking the dummy

Roll #1 5 = 5

Sidus [Rogue] 367647

>>367644
That was pretty nonchalant, Star, you can do better.
Wait a bit more.

367650

>>367644
I scrunch and try for another attack

Roll #1 1 = 1

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367652

>>367650
And then I tripped over my own hooves again, falling flat on my face with a pained yelp

Sidus [Rogue] 367655

>>367652
This is the perfect time for me to appear in front of her and offer her a hoof if she wants to stand up.
"Are you all right, Star?"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367659

>>367655
I look up at him, blinking a few times before frowning
"S-Sidus…"
I get up on my own, blushing in embarrassment
"Are y-you going to s-start being a j-jerk again?"

Sidus [Rogue] 367665

>>367659
"I don't know, I think offering help to stand up to make sure you are okay isn't being a jerk."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367672

>>367665
"N-No but… You're a-always nice at f-first, but then… then…"
I frown, trailing off

Sidus [Rogue] 367678

>>367672
Speak in a confident tone
"Then what?"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367684

>>367678
I keep frowning
"T-Then you say these horrible t-things to me…"

Sidus [Rogue] 367687

>>367684
"And why do I say them?"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367690

>>367687
"B-Because you think it'll m-make me stronger… B-But you're wrong. That's silly."

Sidus [Rogue] 367695

>>367690
"I don't think it will. I know it does."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367706

>>367695
"It j-just made me f-feel bad…"

Sidus [Rogue] 367712

>>367706
I nod.
"Yes, and? After that?"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367725

>>367712
I keep frowning
"Then… Then I j-just got mad…"

Sidus [Rogue] 367728

>>367725
"And then? Come on, don't make me pull out every word out of you."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367732

>>367728
"… t-then I came h-here to train more."

Sidus [Rogue] 367734

>>367732
I smirk.
"Exactly."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367736

>>367734
I scrunch
"W-What is that s-supposed to mean?"

Sidus [Rogue] 367740

>>367736
"Think about it for a second. I proposed to you what would happen should you fail. You, of course, don't want to fail, so you came here to train and better yourself."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367746

>>367740
I keep frowning at him but stay quiet

Sidus [Rogue] 367750

>>367746
"The real question was not your physical or combat abilites though, and we both know that."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367760

>>367750
I keep quiet still

Sidus [Rogue] 367764

>>367760
I look her in the eye.
"The question is, have you improved with your decisiveness?"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367766

>>367764
I look away
"Maybe…"

Sidus [Rogue] 367772

>>367766
"That's not very convincing… I guess we'll have to see a scenario like last time again."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367785

>>367772
"I liked y-you better before you s-started acting like this…"

Sidus [Rogue] 367795

>>367785
"That's a sacrifice I am willing to make if it in turn makes you more confident."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367797

>>367795
I scrunch once more
"J-Jon said you w-went too far as well…"

Sidus [Rogue] 367801

>>367797
I chuckle.
"Of course he would say that. It's his duty to say that as your partner."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367824

>>367801
"H-He was the one urging m-me in the first place…"

Sidus [Rogue] 367835

>>367824
I stop smiling, and look Star in the eyes.
"You can't run away to Jon with all your problems. Friends are great help, but they can't solve all problems instead of you."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367853

>>367835
"That s-still doesn't m-mean you can be mean like that."

Sidus [Rogue] 367857

>>367853
"It was for a purpose. It's better to be mean to you and teach you the lesson not to hesitate like that now than if you would learn it by something… unfortunate."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367877

>>367857
I huff and look away

Sidus [Rogue] 367894

>>367877
Stay silent for a short while.
"I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings and you couldn't handle. I guess I overestimated your progress."

367901

>>367894
"I-I'll show you p-progress…"
I pick up my mace again and get back to training.

Roll #1 1 = 1

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367907

>>367901
And I promptly hit myself in the face with my mace.
I rub my nose with a hoof, wincing slightly.
"… horseapples…"

Sidus [Rogue] 367912

>>367907
I shake my head slowly.
"Really convincing, Star."

367916

>>367912
I blush in embarrassment
"S-Shut up… I-I'm trying, okay?"
Ignoring my bloody nose, I pick up my mace once again and get back to training

Roll #1 4 = 4

Sidus [Rogue] 367921

>>367916
I shake my head slightly again, but don't say anything.

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367927

>>367921
I stop to look at him, frowning
"W-What?"

Sidus [Rogue] 367930

>>367927
"Don't try, do. And the arch of your swing is too low."

Right the way she holds the mace with my TK.

367931

>>367930
I scrunch and turn away from him, continuing to train

Roll #1 6 = 6

Sidus [Rogue] 367932

>>367931
I give her a knowing look.
"See? Told you."

367933

>>367932
I ignore him and keep at it

Roll #1 8 = 8

Sidus [Rogue] 367936

>>367933
I smile.
"Good, good. If only your decisions were this deliberate."

367943

>>367936
I shake my head and keep going

Roll #1 9 = 9

Sidus [Rogue] 367947

>>367943
I keep smiling at her performance.
"A firm decision could make all the difference, you know."
Levitate my glaive out and tip over one of the training dummies by pressing it against the neck of it.

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367954

>>367947
I sigh and drop the mace to the floor, turning to look at him again.
"W-What more do you want from me?"

Sidus [Rogue] 367957

>>367954
"I want you to stand up for yourself."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367959

>>367957
"I-I'm working on t-that!"

Sidus [Rogue] 367961

>>367959
"Yet you just ran away the other day like a scared little filly."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367962

>>367961
"I already t-told you… I was u-upset!"

Sidus [Rogue] 367965

>>367962
"And running away was your response? You think I am the worst thing that could make you upset? No, Star, I was even going easy on you."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367970

>>367965
"I asked y-you to stop and y-you didn't want to… w-what was I supposed to do? A-Attack you?"

Sidus [Rogue] 367974

>>367970
"No, you were supposed to tell me that you are confident in your abilites and that you are capable of makign the right decision even under a lot of stress!"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367977

>>367974
"That w-would just be lying…"
I shake my head
"This is s-silly."

Sidus [Rogue] 367981

>>367977
"If you can't, then this should have been a warning that you need to learn how to, unless you want to fail, and the cost of those failures would be higher than just 'me being mean some more' until you get the idea."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 367985

>>367981
"I-I know that! Y-You don't have t-to remind me! M-My m-mom is an inquisitor, she already t-told and warned me about t-this stuff!"

Sidus [Rogue] 367992

>>367985
Levitate the glaive back to me, then in front of her, pointing at her chest.
"You didn't seem too prepared, it almost looked like that the thought that you might get cut up while working as a Paladin striked you as a surprise."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368000

>>367992
I lower my ears
"I-I'm just afraid I-I'll fail J-Jon… That I'l g-get him hurt somehow…"

Sidus [Rogue] 368004

>>368000
Keep a stern voice.
"If I were to make a bet right now, I'd say you would manage to do just that. If you are thinking about how you can fail, you did already. When you are no longer saying 'Boo-hoo, I'll get him killed' but 'Yes, I will watch his back and keep him safe', then I could bet on your victory."

DM 368137

CHOO CHOO NIGGAS
THE PLOT TRAIN IS ON A ROLL
NEXT STOP: THE GRAND GALLOPING GALA

BEST GET EVERYTHING READY

Papaver Field [Mage] 368138

Nock [Tracker] 368139

>>368137
Do I need to actually sign up for it?

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368140

>>368137
Do I still need to sign up for the Gala, because Nock told me I shouldn't.
And can I still chase after Vera for sneaking?

Papaver Field [Mage] 368141

>>368140
Let's assume you are with me right now, inside Balsa's room, together with Crescent.
It's night.

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368142

>>368137
Well, hopefully I've earned enough money for a good suit. Time to take a day trip to Canterlot and get fitted, since Star's got Papaver making her dress.

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368143

>>368141
Fine.
I sit down next to Vera.
"Uh..hello." I say a bit awkwardly.

DM 368144

>>366836
Crescent looks at you questioningly, then turns to Balsa.
Balsa smiles at her and shakes his head
"I don't think she's quite ready."
"Hey! W-what's that supposed to mean! What's she got that I don't!?"
>>368139
We can assume you already did if you don't want to waste time on it.
Or I can leave you out of it entirely.
>>368141
>>368143
Balsa looks at Cherry
"My my. Three mares at once. I hope my room is big enough."
>>368142
Lets assume your dirt jobs did pay off and the custodian, pleased with the extra sleep, signed off on getting you a day's worth of leave.
Did you go on the same day Sidus did, or?

Papaver Field [Mage] 368145

>>368144
Facehoof.
"Right. So, was this good enough for you, Balsa?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368146

>>368144
Different day, most likely. And to a different shop. Somewhere nice, but not expensive.

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368147

>>368144
Smile at him.
"You must be Balsa,
nice to meet you."

DM 368148

>>368145
He observes all of you
"It's quite more than I expected, I will admit."
He then hugs Crescent with one hoof
"Are both of you two intending to become my partners, or?"
>>368146
Welcome to the finest in affordable niceness in Canterlot - The Everypony's Dressery and Clothing Emporium.
>>368147
"Indeed I am. And you are?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368149

>>368148
Grand.
I'll head up to one of the clerks.
"Pardon me, but I was hoping to get fitted for a suit."

Papaver Field [Mage] 368150

>>368148
"Yeah that's right. She's the pony I told you about, Cherry."

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368151

>>368148
"I'm Cherry.
I'm a friend of Vera."

DM 368152

>>368149
"Certainly sir. For what kind of occasion?"
>>368150
>>368151
"Ah yes. I can see where the name comes from.
I must admit I mismanaged my time a little. Um, you don't mind, do you Cre-"
"I want in on this."
"I bed your pardon?"
"I've always admired your… skills, Balsa. I want to be there to see them in person."
"So all three of you want to help me with this?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368153

>>368152
"Well, I was planning on wearing it to the Grand Galloping Gala."

Papaver Field [Mage] 368154

>>368152
"And now more ponies get hurt… Great."

DM 368155

>>368153
She perks up immediately
"The Gala? Oh my…. a-a Gala suit f-from us?"
>>368154
"Nopony is going to get hurt if we prepare well enough."

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368156

>>368152
"I'd love to help in any way I can."

>>368154
"Don't worry Vera, We'll watch each others backs and nopony will get hurt."

Papaver Field [Mage] 368157

>>368155
"Hey, I'm gonna hold you to those words."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368158

>>368155
"Well, why not? I don't think I should have to bankrupt myself to buy a suit, and yours are reasonably priced."
I'll shoot a glance at the displays.
"And they look nice to boot."

DM 368159

>>368157
"I fight to keep my word."
>>368156
"How good are you with infiltration? Moving unseen, hiding, picking locks, distracting guards, talking your way out of tight spots?"
>>368158
She blushes a little
"Kind words sir…
Do you have anything picked out?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 368160

>>368159
Looks like Balsa will have to talk with Cherry for a while.
Turn to Crescent.
"So, you want to risk your neck too?"

DM 368161

>>368160
She brushes up to Balsa
"Gladly~"

Papaver Field [Mage] 368162

>>368161
Roll my eyes.
"Why?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368163

>>368159
"Not really, but… well, I've always fancied the idea of a suit with a nice top hat."
I'll rub my chin a bit.
"Don't suppose you'd have any suggestions as to what would go with my coloring?"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368164

>>368159
Okay, I'm done training EVEN MORE with Sidus.
I'm well on my way on becoming a grand master of combat arts.
Let's go to the infirmary and meet with nurse Slab, maybe she has something new on her plate.

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368165

>>368159
"Well, I have experience in acting so I could talk my way out of any situation and I did get up here with Vera unnoticed."

DM 368166

>>368162
"To prove myself!"
>>368163
"Well sir, I might suggest something crimson. Possibly… hm. Black could do as well?"
>>368164
"Hey Star. Been busy lately?"
>>368165
"That's a fine start then. How's your poker face?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 368167

>>368166
Look at her perplexed.
"Why not a duel then?"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368168

>>368166
I nod
"Yes… I'm t-training really hard r-right now! And with the Gala coming up s-soon…"
I cock my head
"Are you going to the Gala too?"

DM 368170

>>368167
"…duel? What are you talking about?"
>>368168
"Me? Heavens no. I haven't been invited. And even if I were, I'd hate to spend so much money on a dress I'd never get a chance to wear again."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368172

>>368170
"Oh… right…"
I tap a hoof against my chin
"I r-really hope I don't mess a-anything up while there… M-Maybe I should read a b-book on etiquette or something…"

Papaver Field [Mage] 368173

>>368170
"To prove yourself to Balsa. Challange him to a duel until one of you falls on the ground, unable to move. That's how you show true love.
And it's less risky than getting yourself killed."

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368174

>>368166
"Sneaking around? Why, instructor, me and my friends merely got lost. Thank goodness you found us."

Bluff to make it convincing.
'1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368177

>>368166
I'll nod.
"Black does seem to go with nearly everything."
I'll think a little longer.
"Maybe a nice black suit, something that's easy to move in. Maybe with a half-cape? And a hat."

DM 368179

>>368172
"That'd be a start. Really, they say the gala is really boring. That's mostly thanks to our lads dragging the worst rowdy drunkards away in silence. At least the food is supposedly good."
>>368174
Balsa takes a firm step forward, knocks you down and puts a sword on your throat
"Like hell you were. This area is off-limits and you know it. You have seen too much, and I'm afraid I cannot let you walk away."
He looks seriously terrifying…
>>368177
"Sounds good. Would you also like a coat, or?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 368180

DM 368181

>>368173
"…where the heck did you learn about love? That just sounds… violent and weird."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368182

>>368179
I'll look a little confused.
"Isn't that what the cape's for? I'll admit I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to fashions, ma'am."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368183

>>368179
I grin as she mentions the food
"Yes… I h-heard that too… I w-wonder if it's all you can eat…"

Papaver Field [Mage] 368185

>>368181
"Believe me, coming with us is going to be weird."

DM 368186

>>368182
"I meant more for the front, as the cape is for the back and rear.
Or perhaps spats? Shoes?"
>>368183
"Oh yes. And free too."
>>368185
"Then I can take a bit of weird. For him… anything~"

368187

>>368186
Rolling to not get too excited

Roll #1 3 = 3

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368189

>>368179
"I didn't know and I haven't seen anything.
I was just looking for my way out when I found you.
"

Bluff '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368190

>>368187
Looks like I get all giddy 'n shit.
"Ooooh… This is g-going to be a g-great night~"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368191

>>368186
"Oh. Yeah, then if you think it's a good idea. A pair of boots might be nice, too."
I'll nod slightly.
Way to act like a bumpkin, Jon.

Papaver Field [Mage] 368192

>>368186
Sigh.
"Whatever. I'm just worried ponies will get hurt…"
Look at Balsa and Cherry talk.

Papaver Field [Mage] 368194

And then, the day after all this, I'll finally track Nock down in our room and try to talk with her.

"Uhm…"

Nock [Tracker] 368195

>>368194
"Welcome back, Vera."

Papaver Field [Mage] 368196

>>368195
"I did something… Strange, the other day… I think we should talk."

Nock [Tracker] 368198

>>368196
"We already are talking, Vera."

Papaver Field [Mage] 368199

>>368198
"No, I think we should talk-talk."
Stare at her with uncertanty.
"Can you sit down?"
To illustrate, sit on the floor in front of my bed and look expectendly at her.

Nock [Tracker] 368200

>>368199
Have a seat.

"Yes?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 368201

>>368200
"I asked Leaf to teach me how to sneak. And he tried to. But I messed up."

Nock [Tracker] 368202

>>368201
"You tried to get into that collection… did they expel you?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 368204

>>368202
Give her a flat stare.
"And would I be here talking to you? No, I tried to sneak into the sword dorm. But something like a dozen cadets came after me…"

Nock [Tracker] 368206

>>368204
"Well they'd have to let you get your things from the room… But go on."

Papaver Field [Mage] 368207

>>368206
"You seem awnfully calm…"
Raise a brow at her.
"Did somepony tell you already?"

Nock [Tracker] 368208

>>368207
"Well, you're not expelled, and you're also calm, so you must've got away."

Papaver Field [Mage] 368211

>>368208
"Yeah, Leaf helped me.
But we gathered a bit too much attention… And they were starting to get too close, and they were starting to look at me strange and I panicked and-"
Stop myself and hang my head low.

Nock [Tracker] 368212

>>368211
"You what?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 368213

>>368212
"I didn't know what to do! Believe me! And it meant nothing at all!"
Look at her with a desperate expression.

Nock [Tracker] 368214

>>368213
"What, Vera?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 368216

>>368214
Look at the side and talk in a low, quick whimper.
"Ikissedhim…"

Nock [Tracker] 368217

>>368216
Process that for a moment, get up, and leave the room.

Papaver Field [Mage] 368218

>>368217
Go after her.
"I didn't mean it! But there was no other way to get out! It all happened in a flash!"

Nock [Tracker] 368220

>>368218
Nope nope nope.

Head up to the roof.

Papaver Field [Mage] 368221

>>368220
I'm a personal space invader. Can't stay away from me.
Follow that 'ho.
But stay quiet.

Nock [Tracker] 368222

>>368221
Go up to the ledge and examine drop distance.

DM 368224

>>368189
"I'm not buying a word of this. Who are you working for? Who else is down here? SPEAK!"
>>368190
"Some say it is the best night of their lives. I wouldn't know."
>>368191
"A.. pair, sir?
Front or back?"

368225

>>368222
Try not to do anything stupid.

Roll #1 1 = 1

368226

>>368225
>>368222
Run up to Nock and try to tackle her to the ground.
"YOU IDIOT!"

Roll #1 8 = 8

Sidus [Rogue] 368227

>>368224
Who's got the fanciest suit in the process of making around here, eh?
Spoilers, it's me

Papaver Field [Mage] 368228

>>368227
Two words.
Ethereal. Fabric.

DM 368229

>>368227
>>368228
I bet you two would look fantastic together.

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368230

>>368224
"M-Maybe it will be…"
I scrunch
"S-Say… uh… miss Slab… w-what do you do for fun anyway? Do you know how to f-fight?"

Sidus [Rogue] 368231

>>368229
I got a better mare too.
Even if she goes a bit crazy from time to time.

So how's that suit shaping up?

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368232

>>368224
"There's nopony here but me!"
RNG pls

Bluff '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

DM 368234

>>368230
"I don't really like fights. They always mean more work for me. But I'm good at fixing ponies, so I guess I'm doomed to see ones that got hurt…
As for what's fun, I did always appreciate theater."
>>368231
Fantastic.
A coat for your front half, a greatcoat over the shoulders, like a cape, with high collars to accent your face, epaulettes, some gold trimming, poofy wig, gold-tipped shoes, two monocles, a cane…
>>368232
Oh fuck is that sword actually real? It feels like it's cutting into you.
"That's bullshit. How. Many?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368235

>>368224
"A set, I mean."
I'll rub my nose a little.
"Or however this works. I'm really sorry that I don't quite know what I'm asking for."
I'll think for a second, and then brighten up.
"I've got it. How about I let you pick? You know your way around what's fashionable, so you should have a good idea of what fits who, right?"

Sidus [Rogue] 368236

>>368234
Wait wait wait, wig?
Two monocles?
Is the cane pimping though?

DM 368237

>>368235
"M-me, sir?"
>>368236
1 - pimpin'
2 - bitchin'
3 - swag as fuck
'1d3'

Roll #1 1 = 1

DM 368238

>>368237
It's pimping.
"Hmm… off to a good start, oh yes~"

Sidus [Rogue] 368239

>>368238
I nod.
"Let's not go overboard, though."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368240

>>368237
I'll nod.
"You work here, so you're more familiar with what you have available, as well as what would go together best."
I'll shuffle my front hooves a little.
"I have to admit, I'm pretty useless when it comes to dressing fancy, so I think leaving it to a trained professional would be better than me mixing and matching things…"

DM 368241

>>368239
"Overboard? Please. This is barely reaching the middle deck."
>>368240
"Right! I won't disappoint you sir. Please, this way, this way!"
She pushes you to a changing room

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368242

>>368234
"Oh? L-Like plays and stuff? I n-never really payed those any a-attention…"
I frown
"I was too b-busy stargazing and s-stuff to care about a-anything else…"

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368243

>>368234
"Nopony, I swear.
You're making a big mistake!

Bluff '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368244

>>368241
And in I go.
"I'm in your hooves, ma'am."

368245

>>368237
Hey I guess time is ripe for me to do absolutely nothing. Check me ready for the Gala, unless the dress needs some helping.
Rolling to give you some inspiration.

Roll #1 5 = 5

Sidus [Rogue] 368246

>>368241
I nod.
"And I trust you know fashion well enough, but I did say to try and find a balance between simplicity and style."

DM 368248

>>368242
"I will admit the natural world never did fascinate me that much. And that ties into why I don't like battle. It is so primal and animalistic. Unfit for a creature capable of higher though.
Which is why I enjoy theater. And music. And literature. Fruits of the tree of civilization."
>>368243
He eases the sword
"Took you long enough.
I'll go easy on you this time. But that really was a rather miserable first impression."
He helps you up with a smile
>>368244
"Lets hope they are good hooves…"
She goes out and soon returns with a cape, top hat, small coat, two boots and a pair of cuffs
>>368245
Balsa is done with Cherry for a moment if you need him.
If you've made dresses for everyone who needs them, you should be good to go for the gala.
>>368246
"Pf. Simplicity.
That is for peasants who cannot afford flamboyance."

Papaver Field [Mage] 368249

>>368248
Yeah I suppose so. Do I have to roll for dress quality?

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368250

>>368248
Check for wounds on me.
Did he actually use a real blade?

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368251

>>368248
Well, let's try them on. How good's the fit? '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368252

>>368248
I keep frowning
"T-That's… I don't know… Y-You don't even enjoy the warmth of the s-sun? A carpet of s-snow covering the landscapes?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368253

>>368251
Hmm. Not very.

Sidus [Rogue] 368254

>>368248
"No, it is a way to bring some refreshment over the same thing over and over again."
Smirk
"Unless you want to hear 'Oh, just another outfit like that', when if you made a simple one now, they would say 'He did it again with something new'!"

DM 368255

>>368249
How many dresses are there in total?
>>368250
No.
But he was very convincing with a dull wooden one.
He smirks at you
"I didn't scare you did I?"
>>368251
>>368253
"O-oh dear… too small?"
>>368252
"I suppose they are nice. I don't complain, that is for sure. But I prefer the magnificent architectures of Canterlot to any landscape I have ever seen."
>>368254
"Are you saying that the works of the magnificent Pish Posh are… sameish?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368256

>>368255
"Just a bit. But the style's right."

Sidus [Rogue] 368257

>>368255
Keep smiling.
"Not if you change your style every now and then.
Like how I am urging you to do now."

Papaver Field [Mage] 368258

>>368255
Two. The first one I conjured and one for Nock.
That's all I rolled for, after all.

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368259

>>368255
"Well… Canterlot is a n-nice city… T-That's true… B-But so is the nightsky! It's l-like a construct of a-art too! M-Maybe I should j-just show you instead…"

DM 368261

>>368256
"L-let me get you a bigger set sir… s-sorry…"
She hurries out and returns with a larger set
>>368257
"Hmp. What nerve.
…oh dear but what if you're right?
Horrid… oh deary me I feel weak just thinking about it…"
>>368258
Very well.
Wait… weren't you making one for Star?
>>368259
"Maybe. But I tend to prefer sleeping at night."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368262

>>368261
Well, let's see how these go… '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368263

>>368262
That's a good fit.
I'll smile at the salesmare.
"That's a great fit."

Papaver Field [Mage] 368264

>>368261
Of course. But I didn't roll any more twelves.
Want me to take 10d10 now?

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368265

>>368261
I scrunch again
"Y-You don't go to sleep w-when darkness sets in, do you?"

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368266

>>368255
"You're…quite the actor." I say a bit uncertain.

Sidus [Rogue] 368267

>>368261
"There is only one way to find out. If you make it look frilly like always, it won't even get noticed, just another suit amongst many… but if you listen to me, everypony will be talking about the new and revolutionary style of Pish Posh!"

DM 368268

>>368262
>>368263
"Whew… I'm glad you like it sir!"
>>368264
You did roll a 12 earlier today.
Along with a 1
Care for a deal?
>>368265
"Sometimes.
Depends on the day. Working with the wounded is very draining…"
>>368266
"I have to be. I've needed to pass as many things over the last year. And will need a lot more to get into the Collection."
>>368267
"Hmmm… oh dear… should I take such a risk?
Oh fine. You can do this. I know I can!
Very well! Here goes! INSPIRATION GUIDE ME!"
He nabs off the monocles and wig, then removes much of the decoration on the coat, looks at you for a while, and puts the epaulettes back.
"…my heart says yes. My eyes say… not sure."

Papaver Field [Mage] 368269

>>368268
As long as nothing happens during the Gala.

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368270

>>368268
"S-Still… Y-You have to at least try it o-once! I-I'll take a look a-at the weather schedule to f-figure out a good e-evening with a clear sky! It'll be beautiful!"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368271

>>368268
"Well, ma'am, I was in capable hooves."
I'll smile a little, and do a little bow while taking the top hat off.
"Thank you kindly."

Sidus [Rogue] 368272

>>368268
"Why not both? Cut the extra detail from them, but leave something that resembles them! That way it won't be obnoxiously visible for the eye, but still there for everyone to know what it is! A golden middle way of being there and not at the same time!"

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368273

>>368268
I perk my ears.
"The collection? Vera told me a little about it.
Can you tell me what it is?"

DM 368274

>>368269
Oh things will happen my lovely.
How many, and what kind of things, well, only the dice know.
>>368270
"I do admit I did enjoy the stars over Canterlot and the know beneath my hooves after last year's Hearth's Warming play…"
>>368271
"Oh please sir.."
She giggles a little
>>368272
"Hmmmm…."
He tweaks the outfit for a good while longer until settling on a more downplayed version of the original
"That's… what I feel is right."
>>368273
"Not exactly. But it is the Headmaster's most closely guarded secret. Even more so than his dungeons full of heretics beneath the Academy."

Sidus [Rogue] 368275

>>368274
How is it?
'1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368277

>>368274
I'll chuckle a little.
"Well, I suppose it's time I paid for these. Was there anything else that needed to be done to them before I can take them with me?"

Papaver Field [Mage] 368278

>>368274
Right. I'd rather take my chance.
At least once. If this roll fails, let's go with the deal, sure.
Go to Layline, I gotta ask him permission to enter the magic range.

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368279

>>368274
I cock my head
"The Hearth's Warming play? Y-You mean the big one? You w-went there?"

DM 368280

>>368275
Freedom of movement is good. The only downside is it might get hot after a few hours.
>>368278
"For what purpose, Cadet?"
>>368277
"I could uh… package them, for you?"
>>368279
"Oh yes. I go every year."

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368281

>>368274
Take a step back.
"Dungeons full of heretics?
Why does the Headmaster have heretics underneath the Academy? That's insane."

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368282

>>368280
"That'd be lovely."

Sidus [Rogue] 368283

>>368280
I nod again.
"Yes, much better. My only concern is, won't it get too hot? Sweat could ruin even a perfect outfit."

Papaver Field [Mage] 368284

>>368280
Raise a brow.
"Sir, to better test my unusual magic ability, sir. I'm having a fair amount of success in replicating stable constructs."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368285

>>368280
"Oooh… I haven't e-even seen it once b-before…"

DM 368287

>>368281
"From what I've understood, it is the safest place to keep them.
For even if one were to escape, every paladin in the academy would be standing between them and freedom."
>>368282
"Right… please take it off then?"
>>368284
"Incredible…
May I join you?"
>>368285
"Shame. You should. It's a very lovely rendition. Canterlot often does put on the best show. One year I stayed to watch the Academy play. Never again."

Sidus [Rogue] 368288

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368289

>>368287
"Huh? T-The academy?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368290

>>368287
I'll nod.
"I'll bring them out in a moment, ma'am. If you don't mind."

DM 368291

>>368283
"Then don't sweat."
>>368289
"Oh yes. The students tend to put on a play as well. Many towns do. But none with quite the same quality as Canterlot."
>>368290
"Uh, yes, sorry… um… I'll be… outside."

Papaver Field [Mage] 368292

>>368287
"Sir, of course sir. So far, I managed to conjure another dress and a lasting set of armor, sir."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368293

>>368291
"Oh… W-Was it that bad here?"

Sidus [Rogue] 368294

>>368291
Give him a deadpan look.
"I can't control the weather and temperature, I'm not a pegasus."

DM 368295

>>368292
"I'm going to need to see those.
Let us be off."
>>368293
"It was… rather amateurish. And really, when the story is always the same, I'd rather watch professionals do it."
>>368294
"Ever heard of deodorant?
Well I suppose I could remake the ensemble in a lighter, more breathing fabric if you want, mr. Sweatfountain?"

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368296

>>368287
Scratch my head.
"when you put it that way,
I guess that makes sense."
I sigh and sit down.
"So what's the plan?
How do we get in the Collection?"

Sidus [Rogue] 368297

>>368295
"Lighter would be good, yes."
Roll my eyes.

Papaver Field [Mage] 368298

>>368295
"Of course sir. They are in my room. Shall we go there or to the magic range first?"

DM 368300

>>368296
"Over the last year I've been getting closer and closer. But never quite there.
I know it is int he lower basements, past the dungeons. Possibly past the Proving Halls. But I only have an idea where those might be."
>>368297
"Mhm. Come back tomorrow then. It should be ready."
>>368298
"Very well."
He leads the way there

Papaver Field [Mage] 368301

>>368300
There meaning room or range?

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368302

>>368295
"Oh… O-Okay then! I h-haven't seen it y-yet, so I could just s-see it here in the academy anyway."
I look around for a moment again, remembering something
"Oh… h-how is that s-student doing? The one the B-Battlemaster h-hurt…"

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368303

>>368300
"Then we'll better go find them.
When do we begin?"

Sidus [Rogue] 368304

>>368300
"That might be a problem. See, I only got leave for one day from the Academy."

DM 368305

>>368301
Range
>>368302
"He'll walk again soon enough.
Oh, about that play, you could of course also perform in it if you liked. The actors are all students after all."
>>368303
"Well first we need to make sure you can sneak reliably.
The way to the dungeons is past the bestiary, which is in the basement. It has an access route that leads to one of the walled-off areas of the yard. That is where Monster Combat training is done.
I believe the Sanctum is also somewhere down there. And that another access route exists somewhere. I doubt the Headmaster and his guardians would slog through all those smelly monsters just to get to the Sanctum, Proving Grounds, Dungeon and Collection…"
>>368304
"Well in that time I can at best redo the inner coat."

Papaver Field [Mage] 368306

>>368305
Off we go.
"Sir, I'm prone to miscasts. And you remember what happened last time…
You might want to stand back."

Sidus [Rogue] 368307

>>368305
"Can't you, by chance, have it delivered there?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368308

>>368291
And once she's out of the dressing room, I'll switch back into the clothes I was wearing when I came in, and then fold the items she brought. Then, I'll exit the changing room.
"Here you are, ma'am."

DM 368309

>>368306
"Cadet I am more than capable of withstanding a simple miscast."
he erects a shield around himself
"Fire at will."
>>368307
"Do I look like a delivery service? Would you like me to pack some lunch for you too?
Please.
Mine are works of art that simply cannot be rushed or treated so… brutishly."
>>368308
"Thank you sir. I trust you'll pay for them here?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368310

>>368309
"Yes ma'am."

368311

>>368309
Sigh.
"I'm sorry sir, I didn't mean to sound disrespectful."

Conjure.
A third, and last, pretty dress.

Roll #1 6 + 2 = 8

Sidus [Rogue] 368312

>>368309
I shrug.
"I guess if you don't want an entire Academy talking about the newest masterpiece of Pish Posh, I can't stop you.."

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368313

>>368305
"Wait, me and Vera got up here without being seen.
Doesn't that prove I can sneak?"

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368314

>>368305
"M-Me? Perform?"
I blush
"Oh… I-I'm not an actor t-though…"

DM 368316

>>368310
"Goodie. It was a pleasure to do business with you sir!"
She's beaming.
>>368311
It looks stable, but not permanent
"Let me see that."
>>368312
He squints at you
"Last I checked nopony at that academy could even afford my works."
>>368313
"It proves you can walk across a yard full of shadows.
Doing the same in a corridor too narrow for two ponies to pass one another is a different thing."
>>368314
"Nobody here is. That's why I prefer the Canterlot play.
The Academy play is more about letting the students have fun."

Sidus [Rogue] 368317

>>368316
"That's why they will be amazed."

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368318

>>368316
"Oh… o-okay then…"
I look around again, is Golden Platter to be seen somewhere? If so I walk over.

368319

>>368316
"I doubt it will last sir. I can try again."

Of course I try again!

Roll #1 4 + 2 = 6

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368320

>>368316
"The pleasure was mine."
I'll return the smile, and pay for my suit.
And then I'll return to the academy.

DM 368321

>>368318
He is resting
"Uh.. hey? Do I know you?"
>>368317
"I don't do delivery. Now shall we argue more, or can I get to work on making the outfit breathe better?"
>>368319
"It looks rather standard. Nothing remarkable about it.
…why dresses though?"
>>368320
Welcome back.

Cherry Merry [Bard] 368322

>>368316
"I can sneak just as good in a yard as in a corridor.
You'll see. "

Star Hopper [Cleric] 368323

>>368321
"I… I w-was here when y-you were brought in… I used a f-few healing spells on you and t-tried to relieve some pain… h-how are you feeling?"

Jonagold [Male Earth Pony Crusader] 368324

>>368321
Alright, I'll drop my suit off in my room, and… hmm. There's really not much for me to do. Guess I could keep practicing with Shield Wall, then! I'll pick up my gear, and cheerfully make my way to the training fields.

Papaver Field [Mage] 368325

>>368321
"Uh- It's a promise I made to my roommates, sir.
We enlisted to guard the Grand Galopping Gala, and after they saw the first dress I made while in a panick I sort of got carried away and promised one to everyone of them…"
Smile sheepishly.

Sidus [Rogue] 368326

>>368321
"Fine, I'll come back for it."

DM 368328

>>368322
"That's good to hear.
Why not go fetch us all a glass of water from the kitchen downstairs?"
>>368323
"It hurts a lot less. And the immobility has given me a chance to… reflect on myself."
>>368324
We'll pause now anyway.
>>368325
"Ah. Well, I guess that makes sense. Though it is a lot of hassle. We do have outfits for all those going to the gala you know?"
>>368326
"Or if you let me work in peace, I can get it done here and now. Now scoot. This requires focus."

NEXT TIME ON HORSE DICK
LAST PREPARATIONS FOR THE GALA
I MEAN IT
LAST

Sidus [Rogue] 368329

>>368328
That would be more fortunate, so let him work.

Papaver Field [Mage] 368330

>>368328
"But they are so… Soulless! I want to make something special for my friends, and like this I can even practice!"
