Having rescued the villagers, the party engaged the leader of the Demon Bandits, a masked Drakin called the Wind of Destruction, in his personal sanctum in the temple at the top of the mountain.

Wielding a large sickle and flanked by two demon-masked Horks, he is quite a sight to behold.

You didn't wake anyone up at lea-HOLY SHIT A WINGED DEMON AND TWO GIANTS
>>408334
Dal's bolts plink ineffectively off the hide of the Hork, which tackles her as you charge past it to engage the Wind.
>>408332
Your padded bodyslam fails to impress the lumbering giant, who shoves you aside
>>408338
You turn to open fire on the other Hork, stopping his charge and forcing him to cover his face.
>>408344
And your bolt slams into the demon leader as he tried to leap into flight, knocking him back down on his feet, visibly wounded.
>>408346
Before you can even get a word off, the charging hork slams into you, lifting you off your hooves and crushing you between his massive shoulder and the stone wall.
You can hear all sorts of sounds from inside you you'd really rather not hear again, and fall helplessly to the floor.

There isn't much left of him after that assault. He won't live long.
"You… may have… stopped me… but… you can't stop… the others…"
>>408742
The good thing about your build is that once you toss a little movement into it, inertia will take over and do the rest for you.
With a little flick of your torso, you are once again standing.

408761

"Shut up"
Stab him in the face! '1d10'

Even if I won't be there… to share it…"

408796

>>408792
"We have kept each other alive this long, of course I would."

408802

>>408795
I stand up.
"This isn't working. Someone cut his head off so we can take it to a necromancer."

408806

>>408788
Nod at him.
"Thanks to your prayers, hero!"
>>408795
"Oooh…
Tell more, it's all going down on the poem!"

408812

>>408796
I nod.
"So she's yer girlfriend then?"

408815

>>408812
"Stop asking."

408819

>>408815

I smile and sing along.

408832

I frown "What to you think he meant?"

408833

>>408819
"None of your business."
>>408822

Get my sword ready.

408849

>>408840
I shrug "As long as they are defenders of what they love, they are still heroes."

408851

>>408845
"Well…

..fuck"
look around, is there a place I can defend from? '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

408852

>>408845
"Where did they all come from?"

408853

>>408852
"They woke up during the fight!"

408856

>>408846
>>408852
"They've been sleeping all day long after that party of their s last night. I dont recommend we fight all of them."

408858

>>408849
Punch him on the shoulder.
"Well said, hero!"
>>408845

Follow Kir as stealthily as possible.
'1d10+2'

Roll #1 5 + 2 = 7

408883

"Bullshit!"
"A puny goat like you could not even wound the Wind of Destruction!"

408884

Roll #1 10 + 2 = 12

408899

>>408896
They look a little uneasy
"SHOW US PROOF THEN!"

408900

>>408899
"So who wants to go get his head?"

408903

>>408900
Shrug.
"Meh, I will go."
>>408899
Jump back in and take the Drakin's head, then throw it at Terrance.
"Go on, show 'em."

408908

>>408903
I catch the head holding as high as possible.while at the same time slightly away from me, jikes still fresh, don't want to drip blood on me "Won't you all surrender now?"

408913

>>408908
>>408903
There is a loud gasp among the bandits
"It's true!"
"The wind has died!"
"Flee!"
"There is nothing left for us here!"
"Look the money! Take everything!"
After a short chaos, they rush off in different directions.

408917

>>408913
"Well, that showed them."

408918

>>408913
"Did they all go?"

408920

>>408917
Nod.
"Heroic deed never go unpaid."
>>408908
Chuckle a bit at that.

"Ready to go back in town?"

408925

>>408920
>>408913
I blink at that. "Yeah, lets go. The town will want to know we've finished here." Awkwardly carry the head to the side of me. "Do we need this as proof?"

408926

>>408917
"You'd think they would be angrier…"

408930

>>408925
"Oh, if you don't want to carry it toss it back. It'd be my honor to carry the trophy of your triumph, mighty heroes!"

408933

>>408926
"Hired tugs? Don't count on it. They have little wish to die if they are not paid for it!"

408935

>>408926
I just shrug.
"Naahh.. the wind of destruction guy is their leader I asked one of the bandits. Since their leader is gone, whom I think they refer to as a diety, then they have little left in their faith. Thus the result is their scrambling."

408938

>>408930
I smile and give you back the head. "Thanks Corpy."

408940

>>408938
Tie the head to my satchel.
"Bard's duty, even for somecapra as magnificent as me!"

408942

>>408940
"What are you gonna do with it?"

408947

I'm just going to be a bad GM and suggest you also bring the mask so I don't need to send you back up here to get it.

Return to town Y/N?

408948

>>408933
"You think so? What about the crazed ones?"

408950

408951

>>408948
"Oh, those were just wearing a mask, it was meant to scare us!"
>>408947
I totally missed this mask thing. Sorry.
Yeah let's do that.

408955

>>408947
y

>>408951
"It didn't seem that way."

408957

>>408951
"Its too bad their masks aren't nicer looking. We could have modified them for fabulous trophies."

408958

>>408947
yeah we should grab it

408961

>>408957
"Best trophies is the adoration of our peers. I do have a song about this, if you are interested."

408968

Then, you return to the town, with the Drakin's head, mask and sword in tow.

The old priest is there, and many reunited families are having teary reunions
"Heroes!"
"You've returned!"
"Thank you! Thank you so much!"

408981

>>408968
Oh you meant THIS town..

408985

>>408981
Yes.
I thought you'd like a quick debriefing here first. See the people you saved and all.
>>408971
>>408976
The townsfolk gather to listen, and cheer for your victory.

You may stay the night here and celebrate, or return to Lord Nobleridge with the news right away.

408989

>>408985
Do you even need to ask?
Let out my battlecry.

"All to the tavern!"

Roll #1 1 + 2 = 3

408992

>>408989
I swear I didn't mean to roll.
But.

408993

>>408985
I'm glad they're saved, but they weren't the ones who gave me this charge. Duck out early and head back to Nobleridge, hopefully I can use this goop to hasten Dal's shattered armor somewhere

408994

>>408985
>>408989
I smile "Yes, lets stay tonight."

408997

>>408985
"Oh, that sounds interesting!"
Stay the night.

409004

>>408993
If you want, Dal can pop out of cover somewhere out of sight if you need to talk.
>>408989
>>408992
>>408994
>>408997
The barmaid seems to have put on something extra pleasant for you tonight
"Drinks are on the house, heroes. You deserve that, and more."

409005

>>408968
I turn to the old priest.
"We've taken care of the so called 'demons', Is everyone accounted for?"

"See now, this is the joy of doing good!
The moment I met them, I knew their hearts were pure and full of courage!
As a lion! No!
More!
As drakes they roared in the face of danger, claiming what was rightfully theirs since birth…
Their fame!
And this be a warning!"
I will jump backwards, pointing at all the avventors with a finger.
"For all those who dare bring evil to these lands!
These brave heroes will not give you any rest! Ah!"
And now, time to play my flute!
Entertain!
'1d10+2'

Roll #1 5 + 2 = 7

409021

>>409004
"Drinks?"

409032

>>409005
"More or less. All of the recent victims are here."
>>409021
"Or… uh…
…I guess you don't drink, do you?
Do you smoke by chance?"
>>409008
She sits still as you apply it on her worst cracks, softly chittering as it fills the holes…
>>409018
Everyone seems most amused. Some even join in to clap a beat for you.
Looks like you're well received here.

409036

>>409032
"Thank you, thank you everyone!"
Catch a breath and sit down near the heroes, drinking some.
'1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

409040

"What will the village do after this>"

409041

>>409032
"Fight to your strengths. Believe in the lines. Fighters in front, archers at range.

…You pestered me with this."

wipe the excess goop back into the bottle

"Don't hasten the grave by joining me in melee."

409043

>>409032
"Well then I can now rest that those matters are attended too. Perhaps after this, we will go back to the lord of the land to get our prize." I smile.

"What will the village do after this>"

409044

>>409032
"Only when light on fire. Do you?"

409074

>>409036
Lots of nice people here..
All the good beer you could ever want…
Such a cozy place…
>>409040
"We'll go back to our daily lives.
We might even re-open that old lumber camp."
>>409041
She nods a little, but stays strong and silent, keeping her cracked face place shut
>>409044
"I meant…
…I imagine you know what I meant."
She points to a hookah on a back table
"Or is there anything at all I can do to help you feel comfortable?"

409081

>>409074
"Mhmh…"
Well, take a look at the butts I guess.
The nice, tonic and square butts…
'1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

409088

Did anyone take the draken's head?
I take a drink and sit down at the table with everyone else.

[1d10]

Roll #1 4 = 4

409091

>>409074
Well let's try the hookah. Does it have any effect on something with no lungs?

Roll #1 7 = 7

409096

>>409088
I did.

409099

>>409074
"The Hive is not lost, our elders made sure of that. Now lets go. The humen wishes to know the news."
Get up and head off again

409103

>>409074
"Lumber, I didnt know you guys are woodcutters, a fair trade if you ask me. Say can I go inside the temple to meditate and stuff. I just need to clear my mind."

409112

>>409081
Sadly, there are no capras among the townsfolk.
Just some lumberjacks, fruit farmers and the like.
>>409091
Well you technically are a gas, so maybe you'll form some kind of pleasant compounds?
>>409088
Fairly hard. Must be good stuff.
>>409099
She slips back into the shadows and follows
Fast travel to Lord Nobleridge?
>>409103

409129

>>409127
Shrug.
"Boring night."

409132

Cosmic, man…
You are fairly certain this was either the worst or the best idea ever.
>>409113
After a long walk, you return to his estate and secure an audience.
"Good tidings.
…where are the others?"
>>409118
There does seem to be a nice young lad helping behind the bar you didn't notice earlier.
Unless you prefer to chase party members.
>>409129
Speaking of that, the chef is making his way down the hillside as we speak.
He has discarded his mask and bandit clothes, and is wearing a simpler, less battle-ready attire.

409134

>>409130
"Boring? After that fight?"

409135

>>409132
"Celebrating their victory."
look around
"This is the scythe, the others have the demon's head and mask. Hopefully the bandits who followed this blubbering winged coward will die in the wastes."

409143

>>409134
"There is more to life than a good fight. But I do plaude your deeds."

"I AM ACHIEVING ONE WITH THE UNIVERSAL BREATH OF THE COSMOOOOOOS. JOIN ME, FLESH-BROTHER!"

Grab him.

Roll #1 2 = 2

409148

>>409143

"What in the name of the inverted tower are you doing?"

Roll #1 7 + 1 = 8

409152

"The townshumen there were getting kidnapped, something about a dawning fire, possible others who are doing the same as in that town, and tides wind that will bring the fire of judgement. I would've brought the head and asked for you to call upon a dead raiser to ask better questions. However the capra you hired decided against it. But this thing had wings, scales, and looked like an unmature dragon. It was flanked by large "horks" and made residence at the shrine."

409154

>>409148
"Indeed! And this is why I si-"
>>409150
Chuckle.
"I think he might be trying something… New!"
Take out some of my own herbs.

409158

>>409132
WHAT!?

Dodge again.
[1d10+1]

Roll #1 9 + 1 = 10

409166

>>409152
"A Drakin? In these lands?
Unheard of…
I wonder if the disappearances in the coast town are related to this…"
>>409158
"Hm?
Oh, hello there Red.
It seems I'm in need to new employment, so I came to see if the town needed a chef."
He has a pleasant, innocent smile on his face

409169

>>409166
"Drakin? That's what they are? Hm.. Where to now?"

409172

>>409162
"Ahahah. But of course I do my friend."
Lean back on the seat as I watch him dodge, placing my hooves on the table.
Then, ready two pipes.

Roll #1 6, 5 = 11

409175

Roll #1 6 = 6

And the coast town still needs to be searched. There are townsfolk missing there. And if these things are somehow connected…"
>>409180
"I really am here to find more work."
He sits down on the hillside grass
"Look, Red, I think we left off on a sour note… Can I maybe make it up to you somehow?"

409189

>>409184
Roll my eyes and with a quick move destabilize the Aeon's construct.
Cheap Shot.

409197

>>409187
I step back a little surprised a bit.

Now free I go up the stairs and to your room.

409207

>>409197
"Well, I think you'd know if you had anything in mind.
I hope you don't mind me admitting you are awfully pretty…"
>>409202
"Half a day from here, on the coastline to the west."

409208

>>409203
"Why, don't mention it. It's for Saiduk's own good, too."
And to the room we go.

You are now at least 30 hours ahead of the rest of the party…

AND AFTER GAY BUTTSEX AND LONELY NIGHTS FOR THE LADIES, THEY RETURNED TO NOBLERIDGE.

So you want to get your say in here, or is everyone else in a hurry too?

Good, that means its enough to dance like an idiot and maybe lose a few hands of cards but not enough to sleep with anyone. Overall a fun night.
-ready to move on-

409236

>>409232
30 hours ahead and entirely exhausted, is there an inn I can stay at? rent a room and bath for everyone to catch up

409238

>>409207
I blush and then raise my hand up.
"No, dont say anymore. I know you want me with the way you touched me up there, that is why I wont do it unless you prove yourself."

I then fidget a little, thinking what needs done.
"Now, cook something first."

As one of Nobleridge's own, you get a room easily.

He puts on a wide smile
"Anything in particular you'd like?"

409243

>>409232
"Do we go straight to the castle or look for the bug man?"

>>409240
He would have had a jumping contest to see who was on top.

409248

I raise my head up.
"Apple pie and bring it to the temple, and drinks to wash it down."

I took a bite of the apple pie.
"Hmm taste good."

I then sit down in front of him and give him an indifferent stare.
"Now tell me, what do you want from me?"

409277

>>409273
"Most of all, I don't want there to be any hard feelings between us. I'm just a simple cook. Not a monster.

"Oh, why settle! Travel the world! See how wonderful it is! Be a capra in the wild!"
And with wild gestures, I will motion towards the open fields.

409300

>>409277
I took a bite again of the pie.
"Come to think of it, you are a simple cook not a monster, but you are still guilty of cooking for people who take humens away so that this wind god thing(i forgot his name) can do stuff that I dont want to imagine."

I then took another bite.\
"Also, I aint willing to give you anything unless with reason. I have an idea of what you want but I dont want to jump to conclusions."

IT'S AWWWWWWWRIGHT

411194

Welcome to the seaside.
It's a lovely town built around a small port. Mostly fishers since merchants prefer the bigger harbors further south. However this place sees enough visitors to keep it well funded.
They have a well stocked inn, a few shops and a local governing house that doubles as the town watch HQ.
The coast is dotted with the homes of fishermen, and a few islands can be seen in the distance.

411203

Not a hard task. It's the largest building here.

A few watchmen are on duty there
"Good timing. A few more have been reported missing not two days ago.
Most of the disappearances happen at sea. Fishes vanish and only empty boats are found. Sometimes remains of boats.

>>411331
"Well lessee… usually it's described as a serpent. Makes the waves with it's long body, and blows the winds from it's mighty lungs."
>>411328
"Well he was one of the local sea hunters."

411334

>>411333
Nod.
>>411332
>>411329
"Well guys, looks like we need a boat!"

411335

>>411334
"What for?" I tilt my head.

411336

>>411333
"Serpent… Right. Lastly, when did the offerings stop?"

411337

>>411332
"It sounds like the reason people are disappearing from here is the same reason they were disappearing from the other town."

>>411334
"Which of us do you think won our bet?"

411338

>>411333
"Who was that?"

411339

>>411336
"Like a year ago. I blame the new guys in charge. No respect for anything I tell you…"
>>411338
"Volunteer every time. I went twice myself. Honorable job, but took hours to do, so not exactly fun."

411340

>>411337
"Which of us got us free rum?"
>>411335
"For our next heroic deed, of course!"

411341

>>411339
"Who are these new guys? "

411342

>>411340
I just give an unsatisfied look.
"Our next heroic deed yes but what for? I mean where are we even going if we got a ship?"

411343

>>411342
"To the islands over yonder, of course!"

411344

>>411340
I narrow my eyes.
"But we learned more from the mayor, or whoever he was."

411345

>>411339
"Good man!" I say cheerfully. "I guess you've already tried to talk to the new guys about taking a tribute out there."

411346

>>411344
"As always the mighty hero was right."
Play a slightly mocking tune on my flute.

"Me and a few of the others. They say it's a waste of resources."

411350

>>411347
"What.. they don't think its will solve the problems you have ?"

411351

>>411346
I frown.
"That was the bet, right? That we could get better information here than we could at the government building? If so, you lost."

411353

>>411347
"I have a feeling it's not as simple as that. Thank you for your time. "

411354

>>411343
I point toward the sea(or to the direction of the sea if we are near it)

"We dont even know whats beyond there. Dont tell me the group will go aimlessly along the waves. That would be total suicide."

411356

>>411350
"They insist it's just pirates, and that the Navy will handle it…"
>>411353
"Enjoy your stay…"

411357

>>411351
"Of course, of course."
Give a small smile and wave a hand dismissively.
"What did we bet, again?"
>>411354
"Of course not! We will have to ask the local fisher community first!"

411359

>>411357
"We didn't make our terms yet. As the winner I don't want you fussing at me when I try to get my hands on some gold."

411362

>>411356
I frown "You want to trust your home to some navy?"

411364

>>411359
"Oh well, gold is gold after all. You are gonna need it for the pretty capras and the wine."

411366

>>411364
I roll my eyes.
"My looks are god enough that I don't need gold. How about we go find the others and get ourselves a boat?"

411367

>>411367
Are we in the Inn? Perhaps order a drink if we are.

411369

"Always following!"

And the three very loud capras who came into the inn talking about heroic deeds and looking for a boat are now leaving!

I lean down and rub the fabric between two fingers.
"Do you remember the layout?"

PREVIOUSLY ON HUMENQUEST

The party arrived to a quiet town on the coast.
Demons have been kidnapping fishermen and even merchants out at sea and near the islands off the coast.
An old local insisted the recent disappearances were because the new Administrator ended the annual tributes to the Sea Spirit.

For those who do not remember, there is a well stocked inn, a few shops and the local town watch HQ/Town Hall, as well as of course the docks.

416233

>>416232
I say we need a boat.
But who am I to talk, just a silly old bard.
Young.

>>416254
Yep.
This is a roof.
It has a little chimney on it and some seagull shit but not much else.

You can see his odd eye flash a little as he glances at you with a grin
"I see you you weren't kidding about the numbers…"
>>416264
He shrugs
"Lots of fish to eat and the odd shore bird. Scenery gets a little dull though. And it took me months to learn to block out the sound of the sea from my ears so I could sleep."

416269

>>416267
I smile "Sounds better than a life on the road. It sounds like this place fits you. " I get serious for a moment "What do you make of the rumors? Is there something to them?"

416270

Sigh and hang upside down from the roof.
"That's all we need of you."

416271

>>416270
"You seem like the type that gets to pay in full though."
>>416269
"Well there sure are people missing. As for Sea Spirits? Eh. Who knows?
I thought it was just pirates."

416279

>>416278
Roll my eyes.

"We will pay 'after' the journey if that is agreeable?"

416282

>>416279
He tosses you a mop
"Clean up my roof while you're up there and I'll discount you too."

416283

>>416278
I nod at this with my arms crossed thoughtfully "But you care for these humens, right? If they go missing someone should do something. You don't really want to rely on that navy do you?"

416286

>>416282
"Clean up? It's perfectly natural! I should build a tower here!"

416290

>>416282
I put a finger on lips and think.
"I dont have one yet, I better ask the others if they have any idea's on how to give something for insurance."

416291

>>416286
"I'm glad you don't live here.
You'd scare the fish with your big mouth."
>>416283
"I care that I can eat. Humens are not the best company to me. To be honest it can be lonely here. Most seem scared of me somehow."

416296

>>416291
I look a bit sad "I've been on the road for a while, no where feels quite like home. I understand what you mean." I look to the capras "Well, I want to save these people from whatever terror they face, seeing more villages lost to demons is more than my old bones can bear. Can we leave right away?"

The demon rolls off Boxir, but flings it's coral sword through Saiduk, ripping a big hole in him and leaving him helpless.
He then pulls a knife, slashing Copri in the leg before taking some distance

420095

>>420092
"Hey!"
I leap at him and try to backstab him.

Roll #1 8 = 8

420099

>>420092
Get up! I have to patch that hole!

420109

"Hey! You are not supposed to hit the messanger!"
My handsome body!

420115

>>420092
"Get the demon." I say and I attempt to get up again. '1d10'

Oh right, help him up.

The last of the demons falls over the edge of the boat and into the sea.
The day is won, for now. But not without losses.
Boxir and Saiduk look rather beat up, as does Tityroi.

PAUSE SOON

420134

>>420127
did all the demon bodies fall into the water?

420138

>>420134
All but one. The one whose mask got broken.

420140

>>420127
Go over the wounded.
"And this is the story of how the great heroes survived an ambush by a dozen vile demons.
Need help patching yourself up?"

Roll #1 1 = 1

420141

>>420127
Start sewing up my skin.

Roll #1 10 = 10

420143

>>420140
There are appropriate times to try and mount someone, and inappropriate ones.
This is the latter.
>>420141
Well that was easy. The rip was long but smooth.

420151

>>420143
Whew. Never leave home without it.

>>420140
>>420143
"…not that kind of help."

420154

>>420138
what was behind the mask?

420156

>>420154
A person.
Kinda salty looking, but still human.

420157

>>420151
"What's the matter, you are a glowy ball of gas anyway!"
>>420156
"Well look at that…"
Go there and look him over.

Roll #1 9 = 9

420160

>>420157
"Which makes me wonder what you wanted in the first place."

420161

>>420156
I frown "This isn't a demon at all."

420165

>>420160
"Make sure you were all in one… One dozen.. Pieces?"
>>420161
"I'll have to rewrite the books!"

420174

>>420165
"I am always at peace. Or one with all."

420176

>>420174
"Ahah! Great! Just like a hero should be!"
Pat him over the armor.

420180

>>420165
I sigh "this means that we have more work to do. Thieves posing as demons, we'll have to expose them." I groan a bit "but maybe later, I could use a rest.. not feeling up to par." find a place to lick my wounds.

420184

>>420157
Looks like a sailor overall. Or a pirate.

420185

>>420180
"Oh it was the same in the other town, too.
Truth be told, I doubt there are real demons around."
Whristle cheerfully.

420187

>>420176
"Hm."

>>420185
"Yes. Right down to the mask."

420188

>>420187
"You think we'll find another one of those freaks currents of devastation or whatever he was called?"

420189

>>420188
"I think so. He may even act the same."

420190

…Mangy is being awfully quiet…

NEXT TIME ON GOATS, GHOST AND DOG
THE TIDE OF CHAOS

420191

>>420189
"Lose to your mights combined in a few moments?"
Smirk at him.

420192

I look very down trodden by this notion of fake demons everywhere "So, it was the same in another town, maybe it was the same for the demons I am seeking.. just a lot of thieves.."

420193

>>420192
"Most likely.
But they seem more organized than normal thieves.
I'm still putting down demons on the poem, though."

420194

>>420193
I smile "Demons do make a better tale, and you can add a twist ending to the story when you reveal they were men."

420195

>>420194
"Readers would feel cheated then!
You have to give the crowd what they want, even if it's not the truth.
That's going to make them much happier than the truth itself!"

420196

>>420195
"Well, you're the story weaver Corpster. I'm just an old dog out to get revenge and protect the innocent."

420197

>>420196
"Revenge you say?"
Scoot closer, an expression of glee on my face.
"That makes for such amazing stories!"
