Crypt Quest 2. Campfire 407546[Last 50 Posts]

The party stands in the head inquisitor's office of the old inquisitorial mansion with the inquisitors and the surviving henchponies. On the large desk in the room is a model of the front gate. The model glows slightly and the gate is shut, signifying that the magical shield surrounding the mansion grounds is active. The party has fought long and hard to get here, but still have not seen all there is to see. Outside the back door are three possessed and mutated trees. On the first floor in the bathing room something strange is going on. At the lowest lever of the basement is some…thing. The Inquisitors have offered you all the opportunity to take your reward, minus free food and lodging, now and leave. If you all wish to stay, however, they are offering a greater reward plus the rest of the reward originally promised to you. The gryphon leading the inquisitors taps his claws on the ground.
"Well? Please make your decision. Ask any questions you have now, because there is still a job that needs doing."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407548

>>407546
"I'm fine with staying to finish the job, but I'm afraid my companions might have other plans."
I'll look up slightly.
"And I'm worried about the goat."

Olga [Lifebinder] 407549

"Can we not return another time? I would hate to leave this place as it is, but we are in ill condition to continue on."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407552

>>407546
"Tempting as it is to stay here and get slaughtered by whatever is watching us and waiting for us underneath this place, I suggest we take our leave."

Pomelo [Preacher] 407553

>>407546
"Hm… we didn't come on vacation to do any dumb jobs, but a greater reward…"
I tap my hoof
"Is it something we can use? Like candy!?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407554

>>407546
>>407553
"Ooh! Is it gonna be candy? Is it?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407556

>>407548
"I'll be fine, I think…"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407557

>>407556
"Are you sure? I don't think I'd be able to forgive myself if you died, little one."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407558

>>407557
"Pommers and the old goat managed to fix my horns, so I'm okay now. It did get pretty bad back there though."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407559

>>407558
I'll nod.
"But just remember to take cover if you need to, little one."

Campfire 407560

The unicorn henchponies and the the diamond dog and buffalo inquisitor move to the walls of the room. Their horns and/or catalysts begin glowing.

>>407548
"We would be glad to have you, buffalo. Every little bit helps."

>>407549
"No, we plan to drive straight towards the thing the mage saw below in his vision if you all leave. If our guesses are correct and it is the thing tying this all together then the other threats will disperse once it is gone. By the time the sun rises we will be either dead or victorious."

>>407552
"Are you certain, mage? Our henchponies say you were quite interested in our books and artifacts. If you stay to help some of them may find their way into your hooves."

>>407553
>>407554
"Money. Perhaps a book from the library instead, if we approve the book you choose."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407561

>>407560
"What sort of books and artifacts?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 407562

>>407560
"That's not candy at all…"
My ear flatten

>>407561
I lean next to him
"I'm following your lead then, Dreamy. I bet their books don't even taste all that good."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407563

>>407560
"Well, so long as the little one's fine with it, then it seems I'm sticking around."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407564

Olga [Lifebinder] 407565

>>407560
"You intend to drive into your possible doom without preparation, then? I'll leave the decision to the others, but should you press on without us, I daresay I'll have to be embalming your bodies later."

Andelia [druid] 407566

>>407560
>>407561
I frown "This isn't why we came here, we have our own thing to attend too and its already quite late.." I sigh "If you really think its worth staying I'll stand and protect you, but I think we should go, they have enough here to handle whatever the thing is"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407567

>>407563
"I gotta say I'm not a fan of this place, but I don't wanna leave anyone behind in here either."

Campfire 407568

>>407561
>>407564
"Books full of knowledge a scholar like you should enjoy, or artifacts of magical power."

>>407563
"Very well."

>>407565
"We are always prepared, so that our enemies will never expect us."

>>407566
"Staying here is worth twice as much as leaving now."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407569

>>407568
"Well they quite expect you now, I think. I just want to be sure that you're treating this with the correct level of concern."

"Fine. Final vote. Who's for staying?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407570

>>407569
"Unless the little one says otherwise."

Andelia [druid] 407571

>>407568
>>407567
"I'm with here on sticking together happy horn."
>>407569
"Nay, we leave this to the inquisitors. " I say firmly and possibly with a touch of pain in my eyes.

Olga [Lifebinder] 407572

>>407569
"I have no strong convictions either way. I doubt we will be successful, but it is worth a try only if we are united here."

Pomelo [Preacher] 407573

>>407569
"This place is creepy and dumb and Andy's right. But I'm following you no matter what, Dreamy!"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407574

>>407569
"This place is dumb… and keeps hurting us! But I'm following you with whatever you do, Dreamy."

>>407571
"Huh? What's wrong Andy?…"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407575

>>407569
"I just don't really know about this…but I'm not leaving you behind, smartypants."

Andelia [druid] 407576

>>407574
"We've wasted a lot of time here already, nearly died, and we're going to miss the party. The books just aren't worth this."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407577

>>407576
"Must be a really important party if you think it's so pressing."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407578

>>407575
>>407574
>>407573
>>407572
>>407571
>>407570
"I don't know how they do votes wherever all of you are from, but in Canterlot they don't mean 'everyone equivocate about this subject.'

"Fine then. We're leaving. Death isn't worth books or artifacts."

Andelia [druid] 407579

>>407577
I nod "It's the reason we came after all, but like the others said, if we go anywhere, we go together. "

Campfire 407580

>>407578
>>407579
"Very well."
The gryphon nods and one of the henchponies pops open a few of thee small chests in the room and takes out several scraps of paper. The gryphon takes them from him and sets them on the desk, then touches a ring on his claw to each off them. As he does so writing appears on the slips.
"Each of these, once you take them, will be good to withdraw 200 marks from this city's bank. Only take them if you do not have a specific artifact or book in mind that you would like in lieu of most or all of your payment."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407581

>>407578
I'll nod.
"Then it seems you have my apologies, Inquisitors. And my hopes that you survive the night."

Pomelo [Preacher] 407582

>>407577
"It'll be the partiest party ever!"

>>407578
"Woo! Goodbye stuffy ol' mansion!"

Olga [Lifebinder] 407583

>>407580
"Doesn't look like you have much about the dead here. In that case, I will just have to take material wealth."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407584

>>407580
"I'm fine with the funds."
I'll tap the shield on my back.
"Or does this shield take most of that?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 407585

>>407580
"I don't think you have any books worth 200 of anything!"
I take one

Andelia [druid] 407586

>>407580
"There was an interesting mace, felt like nature, I'd like to take that."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407587

>>407580
I take one.
"Neat!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407588

>>407580
"Thank you. I don't imagine we'll be in contact again."
Take the slip of paper.

Olga [Lifebinder] 407589

>>407583
"And Hornbeard, would you like anything?"

"Inquisitors, I was wondering if my new disciple here would be given reward for his assistance as well."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407590

>>407580
"Well that's just dandy. Seems a little underwhelming though…"
Do I still have that robe?

>>407582
"I hope so. I need a break after all this."

Campfire 407591

>>407581
"Thank you, buffalo. If any of you seek jobs in the future then return here once we have purified the place."

>>407584
"The weapons from our armory that you currently have on you do not count against the 200 marks."

>>407586
"That mace?"
The gryphon listens as one of his henchponies whispers to him and shows him a few papers.
"Hrum. That mace has quite a bit of potential. It will cost you all 200 of your marks, but I believe it will be worth every one of them."

>>407589
"I only wish to continue to help you, mistress. I chose to serve you as a spirit and will serve you as living flesh and blood."

"Your new disciple?"
He looks Hornbeard up and down.
"He was not part of your group when we first made arrangements to work together. However, something as odd as him does not come about every day. My henchponies told me of his…birth, I suppose it would be called."
He reaches a claw into his armor and pulls out a bag which he tosses to Hornbeard.
"30 marks. For an oddity that I hope to be able to examine in closer detail in the future."

>>407590
Yes.
"Our resources are thin right now."

>>407583
>>407585
>>407587
>>407588
As you each take a slip of paper your full name appears on them.

Olga [Lifebinder] 407592

>>407591
"Right, then. Now, Hornbeard, all of it is yours, and if you have need of any more, ask me. And as living, your life is your own! Though I have no objections for you following me back home."

Pomelo [Preacher] 407593

>>407591
"Neat! Alright I'm ready to go!"
Look at the paper. Can I read my own name? '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Andelia [druid] 407594

>>407591
"fair enough."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407595

>>407591
Neat!
What do they have me written down as?

>>407593
"Pommyyy… don't eat the paper!"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407596

>>407591
"Then I shall take the marks, since I don't know what any of those crazy artifacts actually do. Outside of that flower smelling like death and sickness."

Pomelo [Preacher] 407597

>>407595
I just stare at her and slowly move the paper up towards my mouth

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407598

>>407591
"Yeah, I see that. What about the horn or the guitar thing?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407599

>>407597
I dig through my saddlebags and give you a blank page from my notebook.

"Don't eat the check, Pommy."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407600

>>407597
"Pommyyyy! Stooop! Don't eat that silly! I'll get you some yummy paper later and write your name on it!"

Andelia [druid] 407601

>>407597
I attempt to take the check from you. '1d10' "That's not for eating"

Roll #1 4 = 4

Campfire 407602

>>407592
"I will follow you until you die, mistress Olga."
From the way he says it he doesn't realize his words might come off as creepy.

>>407593
The Os don't have smiley faces in them, but you are still able to recognize it as you name! Bessy and Dreamkicker taught you how to write it.

>>407594
"We will go with you to retrieve it on the way out."

>>407595
Your name is written as Bessy.

>>407596
"My understanding is that it contains an imprint of the soul of a diamond dog necromancer. Most likely one of the traditional slave takers."

The Inquisitors and their henchponies start moving to the door.

Pomelo [Preacher] 407603

>>407601
ROLLING TO STUFF IT IN MY MOoh wait

>>407600
>>407599
"Fiiiine!"
I put the check away and chew on Dreamy's paper

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407604

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407605

>>407602
>>407604
"And that lump of metal that attached itself to the unicorn. The dinged up helmet?"

Campfire 407606

>>407598
"The horn and guitar? You could choose only one or the other. Either would cost you 150 of your marks."

Andelia [druid] 407607

>>407602
"So, you know about the previous owners that are attached to those items? Maybe we can talk to you about it at a less deadly time, but then.. I doubt we would come in contact again too soon.."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407608

>>407606
"OOH! Can I see that banjo again? And uh… the other things too?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407609

>>407606
"Shouldn't you all be preparing to make your assault on the basement? We'll leave momentarily."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407610

>>407606
"Hmmmm…how's about that horn?"

>>407605
"Yeah, that seemed like a good fit for you, big guy."

Campfire 407611

>>407605
"That would cost you all 200 of your marks. It is similar to the mace the earth pony wants."

>>407607
"All we know are what are written in the notes our henchponies found. We know nothing of their owners that could not be guessed from the effects of holding the items."

>>407608
"If you wish."

>>407609
"We will follow you down."

>>407610
"Very well. We will adjust your check once you have the item."

You are all in the study with the cases now. The diamond dog Inquisitor spends a few minutes in front of each one before opening all but the last.
"Take your pick, those of you that want them."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407612

>>407611
What are the items again?

Andelia [druid] 407613

>>407611
Pick up the mace. "Good luck."

Olga [Lifebinder] 407614

>>407612
Yeah, I'd like to knwo, too. Anything to assist with Necromany?

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407615

>>407611
>>407612
And I guess after looking over the items again, none of them seem all that interesting…
"Hey Pommy! Do you think… OOH! We should just save our money and spend it on… on…"
I do a hop.
"Bubble bath mix!"

Pomelo [Preacher] 407616

>>407615
"Oh gosh yes! Lots and lots and lots of it!"
I do a hop with her

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407618

>>407615
>>407616
"How about food and lodging?"

Andelia [druid] 407619

>>407618
"We'll be fine, we can find our own place to stay."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407620

>>407611
"Then I leave the funds to you, then."
And I claim said helm.

Campfire 407622

>>407613
Andellia.
As you hold the old, dark wood mace in your hoof you feel a deep connection to Nature even as your body seems to grow slightly. In every direction you can see the wide open grassland you were born and raised in. You can sense the grass that grows under your hooves and smell the sunlight as it shines down on your back. The savanna breeze carries news from far away places that can be herd only by the devout. Every muscle in your body feels as hard and gnarled as the mace itself.

After a few minutes of holding the mace your vision starts to clear and it becomes easier to suppress the sensations the mace is giving you.

>>407614
"The flower belonged to a necromancer."

>>407620
Brutus
The helmet looks like it would be difficult to lift, but great strength courses through your body as soon as you touch it. Your muscles feel like they are growing, but a quick check shows that they have not changed. A flex of your muscles lets you feel the thick shell of your armor covering every inch of your body. A hoof taps against your helmet as if to get your attention and you can just barely feel something shift its weight on your back.

After a few minutes of holding the helmet your vision starts to clear and it becomes easier to suppress the sensations the helmet is giving you.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407623

>>407622
"Well, that's… interesting."
And will take some time to get used to.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407624

>>407622
Or… on second thought…
I pick up that broken banjo.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407625

>>407611
"All right then."
If nobody else wants it, I'll take the unicorn horn.

Olga [Lifebinder] 407626

>>407622
What is this flower? What does it look like?

Andelia [druid] 407627

>>407622
I smile "Thank you, I'll make good use of this, I feel strongly connected to it already." I wait for the others to pick so we can leave.

Pomelo [Preacher] 407628

>>407622
I stand near the door.
"You guys have fun pickin'. I already have my prize!"
I adjust my new hat and smile

Campfire 407629

>>407623
One of the inquisitors takes your check from you.

>>407624
Bessy
After picking up the banjo you cannot help but laugh at joke you just thought up. You can see your friends, the henchponies, and the inquisitors for what they really are under their armor and attitudes: People; They live, they love, they laugh, they have hopes and dreams. The desire to keep them happy is safe while you are with them is the most important thing in the world to you, second only to the desire to keep your special somepony safe. The feeling a pair of lips kissing you on the cheek occurs as suddenly as it vanishes.

After a few minutes the sensations the broken banjo are giving you fade enough for you to suppress them.

>>407625
Happyhorn
The smell of smoke enters your nose as soon as you pick up the horn. The cold sensation that comes from your power over the dead is forgotten as the roar of fire fills your body. Your body grows hotter, and hotter, and hotter, until you are sure you must burning hotter than a fire, a volcano, and eventually the sun itself. The need to organize the group you are with and make them focus on the task at hoof rises the forefront of your mind as you hurry to droop the horn back in the case.

After a few minutes the sensations the unicorn horn are giving you fade enough for you to suppress them.

>>407626
It has dark red petals and a sickly purple center. There is no stalk. You remember that it smelled like death when the case was opened.

>>407627
"Please, when you understand why it is so valuable come back and show it to us."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407630

>>407629
Well, I'm ready to go.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407631

>>407630
Same here.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407632

>>407629
I slightly blush.
"Uh… can I take this?"

Andelia [druid] 407633

>>407629
I nod "I just may someday."

Olga [Lifebinder] 407634

>>407629
I'll take it.

it might make a pleasant offering to weary spirits.

Campfire 407635

>>407631
Your check is adjusted to be worth 50 marks.

>>407632
"Yes."

>>407633
"Thank you."

>>407634
A horrible stench fills the room as you open the case, but it vanishes once you pick up the flower.
Olga
You feel yourself grow taller and your weight increase and shift to your hind legs. You can feel cold stone beneath your paws and hear the noises of forced labor coming from beyond the thick walls. You relax and smile as the familiar smell of freshly dead flesh mingles with the armor of a reanimated worked. The easy nature of your life means you can't help but smiles and whistle a cheerful tune.

After a few minutes the sensations the unicorn horn are giving you fade enough for you to suppress them.

"If none of you wish to take the remaining items we will show you to the exit."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407636

>>407635
I'll nod.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407637

>>407636
I'll mimic his nod.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407638

>>407635
"How much do I hafta give from the check?"

Olga [Lifebinder] 407639

>>407635
…paws?

I'm still a goat right?

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407640

>>407635
"Yes, please."

Pomelo [Preacher] 407641

>>407635
"I'm ready!"

Andelia [druid] 407642

>>407635
"Alright, lets go then."

Campfire 407643

>>407638
"One hundred and fifty. Your check has already been adjusted."

>>407639
You check your body and find you are still the same goat as you always were.

>>407636
>>407637
>>407640
>>407641
"Very well. Follow us."
They lead you all down to the kitchen and out through one of the large windows they broke to gain entrance. After that two unicorns lead you all to the gate, where one fires a flare into the air from his horn. The shield drops and the unicorns push the gate open.
"Try to live long enough to enjoy those rewards."
The unicorn shuts the gate and fires his flare again. They turn around and walk back up to the mansion as soon as the shield reappears.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407644

>>407643
"Right, well, do we have time for another bath, or should we attend your party in the state we're in?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407645

>>407643
"Back to the good part of town, I suppose?"

Olga [Lifebinder] 407646

>>407643
Could you explain what just happened?

Andelia [druid] 407647

>>407643
"Come on, lets go.." I start leading the way to the forest.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407648

>>407644
"I was really looking forward to another bath…"

Pomelo [Preacher] 407649

>>407644
"We gotta get there right away! We can clean up later!"

>>407645
"Wait Dreamy! Me, Bessy, Andy, and Olga already saw the twins. And got from them to here through a tunnel near some bushes… maybe we can use it to get back there!"
Can I find that hole we came out of? '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

Andelia [druid] 407650

>>407649
"Sand probably closed it up by now"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407651

>>407649
>>407650
"Oh… yeah…"
I perk up.
"Ooh! Can't we just dig a new one?"
I try to dig out that tunnel again!
'1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

Andelia [druid] 407652

>>407651
I roll my eyes. "If we're going to dig I'll handle it."

Campfire 407653

>>407644
It is currently nighttime. the moon is nearly full so it, along with the stars, gives enough llight for you to walk safely but does not let you see very far.

>>407647
You and the rest of the group follow the path the way you came. Before long you see the small clump of bushes that Sandy delivered you to.

>>407649
After a bit of looking you find a circle of loose dirt and start to dig.

>>407651
You feel the ground start the shake beneath you.
"Hey ever-WOAH!"
The ground below you falls away.
Roll.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407654

>>407653
AAAAA
'1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

Andelia [druid] 407655

>>407653
I look up at the moon, and let loose a howl as I transform. '1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407656

>>407655
And I'll hop sideways at that.
"First vampires, then ghosts, now this?"

Olga [Lifebinder] 407657

>>407655
"What calls to you?"

Andelia [druid] 407658

>>407656
I smile a bit, its good to keep them on their toes. Rolling for digging now. '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

Campfire 407659

>>407654
You land on a set of dirt steps, but they are able to hold their shape under your wight and you are able to keep yourself from falling all the way down them.

>>407655
As you howl your body ripples. Bones reshape, teeth grow, hair lengthens, senses sharpen, hooves split into paws, and all the gear you were carrying melts into your body as your magic forces it into otherspace. Your ears twitch and give your just enough warning to jump back and avoid the large silver dagger that shoots up from the ground. Sandy pokes her head up quickly and starts to pull it back under when she sees you, but blinks and stops. She frowns, then starts laughing.
"Oh Andelia, the Twins never told me you could do that. You nearly gave me a heart attack."

>>407658
"No need for that, I've got a tunnel ready."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407660

>>407656
"Eh, get used to it. Life's interesting with a few curveballs…so long as they don't hit you too hard."
Rub my horns a bit.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407661

>>407659
"Oh. Hi Sandy! What's up?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 407662

>>407659
I hop up Sandy
"Hiya! We're back!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407663

>>407659
"How interesting."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407664

>>407660
I'll just look at the others for a moment, and then raise an eyebrow.
"I've fallen in with an odd crowd, it seems. Suppose there's a good reason no one told me there was a shapeshifter in the party."

Andelia [druid] 407665

>>407659
I lick her face to say hi. "I couldn't before" I attempt to communicate to her.

Campfire 407666

>>407660
"Are you hurt?"

>>407661
"Waiting for you all to get back. The Twins should be starting the party…"
Se looks up at the moon.
"A few minutes ago. They tried to wait, but had to accept you all might not be there."

>>407662
"Hi there!"
She waves at you and ducks back into her whole which collapses as she does. A second later she walks up out of the hole Bessy fell down.
"Come on, you'll miss it all!"

>>407664
"Some Nature worshipers can do that. I didn't know Andeliaa could. That's why I sort of freaked out."

>>407665
She scratches your ears and barks back at you.
"Be careful where you do that in the future."

Olga [Lifebinder] 407667

>>407659
>>407666
>>407665
"Well, no matter, an excellent show of skill!"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407668

>>407666
"Well… we're gonna be there! C'mon, let's go!"
I roll over and back onto my hoofs, and hop off towards the party.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407669

>>407666
"I don't think so…do I look hurt?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 407670

>>407666
I hop down after her and follow!

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407671

>>407669
"You probably aren't all back together from what happened up there. If we could take the time, I'd tell you to just relax and rest, but… well, you did have a party to attend."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407672

>>407671
"And you don't? Where do you think you're going?"

Andelia [druid] 407673

>>407666
"But, I had a warning howl.. didn't think I'd scare you.." I go down the tunnel.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407674

>>407672
"Same place as you are. Why do you think I followed everyone else?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407675

>>407674
"Aww, I didn't know you cared."
Nuzzle some fuzz.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407676

>>407670
Follow Pommy.

Campfire 407677

>>407669
"Not really."

>>407673
"So do werebeasts."

>>407674
>>407675
"You two are so cute. I have no idea how it works between you two, but loves finds a way, as they say."

The party files into the hole and Sandy follows behind them in order to collapse the tunnel. She talks as you all travel.
"I can't believe you are all finally here. The Twins are so happy that you are all alive and safe! They've been so worried about the state off this city and the surrounding area that it's been months since we last had a real party! Oh, this night is going to be great, I can feel it already!"
She shudders a bit.
"I hope they aren't full already."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407678

>>407677
I'll raise an eyebrow at that.
Is that what it looks like?
"Why would they be full of food if the party's only just started?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407679

>>407677
"Full? Full on what? Cake?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 407680

>>407679
"Oh gosh I can't wait! Is there gonna be all sorts of fun treats and dancing?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407681

>>407677
"Full? Are we to be dessert?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407682

>>407677
Snigger a bit at that.
"Oh, you think so?"

Campfire 407683

>>407678
>>407679
"Blood, sillies!"
She laughs.
"I doubt they'd be full yet, the night is young so I don't think I missed the feeding. Even if I did parties are an excuse to overeat so they might still want a bite. They like to keep a well-rounded diet so they'd probably still need some from me even if they were really full, unless they got some blood from one of the other diamond dogs."

>>407680
"Oh yes! Lots of dancing! Treats too, and games with prizes!"

>>407681
She laughs again.
"They told me they've never had sour blood before, but they say that if you are willing to let them they'll be willing to try some."

>>407682
She nods.
"Uh-huh!"

Tell me when you are ready to arrive.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407684

>>407683
I'll stop.
"Blood? What the devil sort of party is this?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407685

>>407683
"So when did they enslave you, dog? Could not have been long ago."

>>407684
"The twins are vampires. Abominations. But more trustworthy abominations than the Inquisition here."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407686

>>407683
"B- B- Blood?…"

Pomelo [Preacher] 407687

>>407683
"Blood? …Our blood? Nonononono!"
I shake my head furiously and hold Dreamkicker and Bessy close to me

Olga [Lifebinder] 407688

>>407683
"A blood offering? Pity that they still need it."

Ready.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407689

>>407685
"No one told me about this."
I'll look over the others.
"Any other surprises I should be aware of?"
I'll glance up as best I can towards Happyhorn.
"You don't turn into a bat, do you?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407690

>>407683
"Huh. I thought they would have learned to pace themselves."
Ready

Campfire 407691

>>407684
"They're vampires. Didn't your friends tell you?"

>>407685
"Enslave? Psh, I serve them because I love to serve them. Nature even accepted them as followers despite them being vampires."

>>407687
"They won't take it if you don't want to give it, and they won't take enough to hurt you."

>>407688
"How could they not need it? Plants need sunlight, vampires need blood."

Andelia turns back into a pony.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407692

>>407691
I'll shake my head.

Pomelo [Preacher] 407693

>>407691
"Then I ain't givin' nothing!"
Ready to go

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407694

>>407691
"I- I don't wanna give my blood…"
Ready

Andelia [druid] 407695

>>407691
"Well, we couldn't explain much around those inquisitors. They would have taken us all away as heretics, or worse.." I shutter

Olga [Lifebinder] 407696

>>407691
"I was hoping a way could be found to heal them. Perhaps not yet, then."

Andelia [druid] 407697

>>407694
>>407693
"Don't worry, I'm sure they will be happy just to see you."

>>407692
"Don't worry about them. They're nice."

>>407695
"They probably wouldn't have killed you i they realized that you could turn into a wolf thanks to Nature's blessing. Probably."

>>407696
"They say the vampire that turned them spent nearly a millenia searching for a cure and he never found it."

The party arrives at a small dirt chamber with a single stone wall with an open door. Sandy finishes collapsing the tunnel then takes the leads through a small portion of the dungeon the Twins created to guard their lair. The sound of loud voices and music can be heard from somewhere in the distance; growing louder as the party draws nearer. Finally arriving at the last room Sandy throws open one of the doors and shouts.
"THE GUEST'S OF HONOR HAVE ARRIVED"
The noise and music stops as creatures of many different races stop what the are doing and look at you all.

The box on the left is the dance floor, the thing on the right is a bar, the two black rectangles the front coffins on a slightly raised platform, the red thing is a carpet, and there is a curtain of beads separating the room from a passage to the north. The party is on the carpet at the south end of the room.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407699

>>407698
I really don't quite like this. Though I'll let Happyhorn down, if she wants to.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407700

>>407698
"It's a millennium, by the way, dog."

I stay close to Pomelo.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407701

>>407698
I huddle closer to Pomelo and DK.
"I don't really like this guys…"

"Uh… hi?"
I wave to the people at the party.

407702

>>407698
Oooh. Peek out and look at the guests. Who else have they invited?

Roll #1 8 + 2 = 10

Pomelo [Preacher] 407703

>>407701
"I'm sure the twins are nice enough to not eat us. But I don't know about their friends…"

I look around the room and give a weak wave

Andelia [druid] 407704

>>407698
I smile happily waving at the guests "What a night for a gathering, have we missed the twins?"

Olga [Lifebinder] 407705

>>407698
Wait around. Where are those children?

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407706

>>407701
>>407703
"Stay close."

Campfire 407707

>>407700
"Whatever. You know what I meaned, professor."

>>407701
>>407703
They all wave back and swarm closer, each of them talking to each other or at yoou about how happy they are to meet you all, how they are glad all of you are safe, how much fn all of you are going to have tonight, and asking all sorts of questions. The Twins seem to glide through the crowd and Sandy's tail starts wagging.
"Friends!"
"You two that we haven't met yet!"
"Welcome!"
"We're glad you could make it!"
"We tried to wait, but our friends were eager to start the party."
"It's good you are all safe."
"We should talk about the mansion."
"And then we should party."
They wave at the crowd and it disperses, the peeople making it up returning to what the were doing beforehand.
"You too, Sandy."
"We will drink later."
Sandy leaves.

>>407702
It looks like a bunch of Nature priests. There are members of nearly every race you know of is here and there are those tall bird things with the long necks too. The only surprise is the total lack of donkeys.

>>407704
"Nope."
"Not at all."
They both hug you.
"Welcome to the party."

Olga [Lifebinder] 407708

>>407707
"So you know about the Mansion, children? Please, tell us everything."

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 407709

>>407707
I'm also here. Reading.

Pomelo [Preacher] 407710

>>407707
A hug! I totally get in on that and hug the twins while they hug Andy

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407711

>>407707
I'll just hang back and listen.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407712

>>407707
"Huh. I didn't know these guys were so well connected…"
I'll climb down but stay next to Brutus.

Andelia [druid] 407713

>>407707
I hug them tightly "We nearly died in their, it was awful." I lean in and whisper "I'm sorry I didn't come with you back then"

Andelia [druid] 407714

>>407710
I let you into the hug as well.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407715

>>407708
>>407707
"Yes… what was living in there? I saw something… powerful."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407716

>>407707
>>407710
Ooh! Ooh!
I join in too!

Campfire 407717

>>407708
"We know you went to the mansion."
"To work with inquisitors."
"Please tell us what happened."

>>407710
They move so they can hug both you and Andelia.
"We thought you were afraid, Pomelo."
"It's our fault."
"We like scaring you."

>>407711
They ignore you.

>>407712
"We are the ones that sent your friends to the mansion."
"Some of them."
"We were tired so we don't remember who was there."
"The ones there looked tired too."

>>407713
They hug you harder.
"Don't be sorry."
"We might have hurt you."
"It took a few tries before we learned to feed right."
"We ghouled some ponies."
"On accident."

>>407715
They look up.
"There was something living there?"
"We thought it would be only traps."
"Maybe some ghosts."

>>407716
You are now included in the hug.
"So soft."
"We are glad we never made you into a rug."
"A rug wouldn't be as warm."
"A rug can't hug back."

Olga [Lifebinder] 407718

>>407717
Much the same as the Crypt! A presence of evil all around as we fought our way in without Inquisitors, but even then there is hope. Here, this is Hornbeard, a lost soul I recalled to give a new life to."

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 407719

>>407717
"There were some ghosts. Nothin' too bad."

Rub my front leg muscle with one hoof. "Who's scared of a spook or two?"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407720

>>407717
"Oh yeah, that place was crawling with spirits of all kinds. Something happened there, and those guys are about to find out what."

>>407711
"Bored already?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 407721

>>407717
"I-I don't mind you two when you aren't talking gross about Dreamy or wanting to bite us!"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407722

>>407720
I'll shake my head.
"No. Just… wary. No offense to what appear to be your friends, but my last encounter with vampires ended in bloodshed. And I'm still concerned about what those inquisitors are going to run into underneath the mansion."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407723

>>407717
"A- And I'm glad you didn't make me into a rug too!…"

Andelia [druid] 407724

>>407717
"Thank you, twins" I hold back my tears and release them from the hug after just another lingering moment. "Well, there were ghosts, a the tentacle beast was the last thing we fought, and it turned to dust.. dreamkicker, he saw something, an eye?" I look to dreamkicker to see if he'd like to explain it.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 407725

>>407722
"Well don't worry. These guys are on the up'n'up…I guess. You're right about the mansion though…what's down there isn't gonna just go back to bed."

Andelia [druid] 407726

>>407722
"We're still weak from the tentacle beast, whatever was in there would have crushed us.. And Brutus, I didn't have a chance to bring up my shapeshifting or the twins being vampires before because of the nosey inquisitors hanging around. I should have explained it properly to you, but know you can trust them, you can trust us."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407727

>>407726
"It was more of a presence. Something dark and malevolent living underneath the mansion."

Campfire 407728

>>407718
"Lot's of evil."
"Not too surprising."

They look at Hornbeard, then break off from the hug and look closer at him.
"Hello again."
"You were wearing a beholder when we met, right?"
"You look much better now."
"Because you're alive."
"And hunky."
"And handsome."
"And studly."
"A total beefcake."
"What were we saying?"
"Oh right."
"Good to see you alive."
Hornbeard looks embarrassed and confused.

>>407719
"Not us."
"Not of normal spooks."
They both move away from Hornbeard and are suddenly on either side of you.
"What's your name?"
"We are."
"The."
"Twins."

>>407720
"Ghosts."
"And something bad."
"Hmm."
"I wonder."

>>407721
"We always want to bite you."
"And do gross things."
"But we won't."
"Unless you let us."
"It would be fun."

>>407722
They are suddenly on either side you you.
"Don't be afraid."
"We are technically evil."
"But only technically."
"We won't shed your blood."
"Not unless you want us to."
"They say it feels nice."
"Buffaloes taste good."

>>407723
"You would make a great rug though."
"Can we have your skin when you die?"
"Pretty please?"
"You can put it in your will."
"We'd be really grateful."
"If you want your friends to have your rug we understand though."

>>407724
"A tentacle beast too."
"And it turned to dust."

>>407726
They both speak at once.
"Shapeshifting?"

>>407727
"Dark."
"Malevolent."
"Lingering."
"Were there shadows?"
"Bad shadows?"
"Strange darkness?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407729

>>407726
"I know no such thing. But… I'll take you word for now. It's not like I'd be allowed to leave if I didn't."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407730

>>407728
Their sudden movements and talk about how good buffaloes taste doesn't exactly ease my worry, though.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 407731

>>407722
Edge over to him. "Hey, don' worry chief. They're all nut jobs, but between the two of us, we've got one and a half, maybe one and three quarters totally normal pony. Or buffalo. You get my point. Point being that I'm going to ditch these bloodsuckers if they try anything funny, and you look smart enough to it, too."

>>407728
Give them a slightly offended look.

"Okay, okay, chief – er, chiefs. I get it. Maybe the wanted posters haven't circulated into this town yet. I'm the world's finest reformed master thief, Muddy Morass. You wanna know what the trick was to get on top? My coat is brown. See, people are always looking for the flashy red ponies. Don't suspect the brown ones. Anyway, point bein', I punched some ghosts in the snout for you, I guess."

Pomelo [Preacher] 407732

>>407728
"Nooope I'm fine with all my blood staying in me…"
I slowly back off and hide under Bessy and poke my head out.
"So uh… how was that party?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407733

>>407728
>"Strange darkness?"
"Something like that, yes."

Andelia [druid] 407734

>>407728
I look surprised at their unity "Yes. I connected with my inner wolf while we were apart, some time after you stopped writing I was given the gift to transform into one."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407735

>>407728
"I don't want my fur to be made into a rug when I die!"
I shiver.

Olga [Lifebinder] 407736

>>407728
"Ah, you see, Hornbeard, I had called forth a spirit to take the shell of a slain Beholder the last time I met these twins. They might have thought it was the same."

"Now, more about the Mansion?"

Campfire 407737

>>407729
"If you want to leave."
"You can."
"You can't take your memories of us."
"But we won't kill you."
"Unless you try to leave with your memories."
"Even then we'd try to take your memories."
"Instead of your life."

>>407730
One of them is one your back and another is leaning against your side.
"We only bite willing victims."
"It's a Rule."
"We haves Rules."
"We also have games."
"Can Opener is a fun game."
"But only if someone wants to play the can."

>>407731
"Wanted for what?"
"We hope it isn't murder."
"Murder is bad."
"We can be worse."
"We've not had a chance to catch a murderer."
"Not since coming here."
"Thanks for the ghost punching."
"Ghosts suck."

>>407732
"It's happening."
"Don't call this a shindig."
"It's the party you chose."
Loud music with a strong beat is filling the air. There are ponies dancing on the dancefloor where there are plenty of flashing and pulsing lights. Across from the dancfloor is a long bar and kitchen area where many creatures are eating and drinking. Spread out through the room are ponies playing various party game or simply talking. Every now and then groups of two or three will run through the bead curtain at the back of the room.
"We want to show you something later."
"You and Bessy and Andelia."
"It's a project."

>>407733
"That is bad."
"Very bad."
"But good."
"Two enemies."
"Trapped together."
"No chance of peace."
"And if the Inquisition loses the shield will hold."
"If they win they do our work for us."
"We need only keep our heads down."

>>407735
"Okay."
"Its your choice."
"We want your teeth to be necklaces."
"Assuming they don't turn to ash."

>>407736
"I think it was me, Mistress. The memories are growing fuzzy."
He scratches his head and jumps when one of the Twins pinches his ass.
"Wise teacher."
"We think the thing at the bottom of the mansion."
"Is part of the Shadow."
"Or whatever it is called."
"Let loose here by Nightmare Moon."
"Long ago."
"Trapped in the shield."
"Like the Shadow behind the Wall."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407738

>>407737
"I know brevity isn't one of your virtues, but spit it out: What's in there?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407739

>>407737
"You two are having fun popping up in odd places whenever I blink, aren't you?"

Olga [Lifebinder] 407740

>>407737
"A remnant curse of the Hunter in the Night? Very worrying. Yes…"

Pomelo [Preacher] 407741

>>407737
"Show us something…? Like what?"
I crawl out from under Bessy

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 407742

>>407737
"Gee, I wonder what a world renowned master thief is probably wanted for? Oh yeah, it's for loiterin'. But yeah, sure thing tough guy. Er. Guys. So we gonna bust the champagne out or what?"

I beam with pride when I hear this "You've grown into such fine boys."
>project
I look curious "A project, well of course, when you are ready to show us."
>party happening
I attempt a dance
>Nightmare moon is the shadow
I stop in mid step nearly falling over "Well, its a good thing we didn't try to fight that."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407744

>>407737
"Show us? What do you want to show us?…"
Huh.
That bead curtain in the back looks interesting…
I try to sneak over there and peek behind it!

"Living shadows."
"Hungry shadows."
"Twisting shadows."
"All they touched died."
"Or was remade in their service."
"It feasted on natural magic and souls."
"The city saw the first shadow."
"It was forced back eventually."
"And a wall built to hold it in a quarter of the city."
"It's spawn destroyed."
"Most of them were."
"This is not a good place to talk of this."
"We can talk more later."
"Privately."

>>407739
They are both under your chin.
"Yes."
"There are funner places."
"But you may stomp on us."

>>407741
They both grin, their fangs visible.

"From the past."
"That you three enjoyed."

>>407742
"Thief."
"That is good."
"Booze at the bar."

>>407743
"I'm a mare."

"You like it too."
"You three can come now."
"Look if you want."
"Bring your friends."
"Happyhorn might like it."

They watch as you dance.
"Not bad."
"Not bad."

"And weak."
"And starved."
"You could take it."

>>407746
"Whee!"
I guess I stay latched on to the back of her head!

Andelia [druid] 407752

>>407746
"Alright, show me what you've been working on then, and do you have a bath down here? Brutus would like to get some of the grim from that place off of him."

Campfire 407753

>>407747
"Bring your friends."
"They need to hear it."
"Go party if you want."
"This party is for all of you."

>>407748
Behind the curtain is a long hallway with doors on either side. The closest ones are shut and the ones further down are open. At the end of the hallway is a T intersection.

>>407749
There is a large, bulky diamond dog playing pin the tail on the horse in a corner with some ponies and zebras.

>>407750
"Think later."
"Now is for fun."
"Loosen up."
"Find a handsome billy."
"Or have a drink."
"Or have a drink with a handsome billy."
"If you want to."

>>407752
"There are a few baths."
"Big tubs."
"Made for group fun.."
"And bathing after the fun."
"Or during."
"Or both.

The Twins lead Andelia down the hallway and motion for Bessy and Pomelo to follow them too. At the end of the hallway they turn left and continue to the door at the end of the hallway.
"The secret is inside."
"It's not finished yet."
"Can't be finished."
"Not by us."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407754

>>407753
Ooh! Ooh! Oooooh!
I open the doors and peek inside as we go down!

Olga [Lifebinder] 407755

>>407753
"Pah! Too old to care very much about Billies."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407756

>>407753
Follow Bessy and Pomelo.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 407757

>>407753
How about some nice alcohol?

Pomelo [Preacher] 407758

>>407754
>>407753
"Bessy, I don't see a party back here…"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407759

>>407758
"It's that damned archway. I'm not sure how they got it out of the crypt, but the Royal Guard never found what we told them about…"

Andelia [druid] 407760

>>407753
"Can't be finished?" I blink a few times and reach to open the door

Campfire 407761

>>407759
"Shhhh!"
"You'll spoil the surprise!"

>>407754
Behind the door is a very shallow room, and in the middle of the far wall is an archway. Every stone that held a gem, including the capstone, is missing. The interior of the archway is brick and identical to the rest of the wall.
"Surprise!"
"It's not finished!"
"We can't finish it."
"Neither can our friends."
"But you all can!"
"If you want to."
"You haven't become a Nature priestess, right Andelia?"

>>407757
You find a particularly swilly bottle of alcohol next to the diamond dog. It hasn't been opened.
"Want? There's plenty more where it came from."

>>407760
"Nope."
"Bad blood between the Discord temple and the Nature temple."
"And we need things from the Discord temple to finish this."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407762

>>407761
Oh come on! I wanted to see what was in the other doors too!

Campfire 407763

>>407762
You still can. You need to roll though.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 407764

>>407761
"Yeah. Yeah I do think I want some of that. Pass some this way, chief. What's your story? Ghost puncher? Priest?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 407765

>>407761
"This thing? I remember it made me feel all funny and bad… AND IT TOOK AWAY MY PARTY PARTS NO NO NEVER AGAIN"
I cling to Bessy and shiver

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407766

>>407763
'1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407767

Well, I'm going to hunt down a bath. Preferably a warm one. '1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

Campfire 407768

>>407764
"Priest, but I punch ghosts when someone needs an exorcism."
He slides the bottle over too you with a paw.
"How about you? You're one of the heroes the Twins summoned, aren't you?"

>>407766
You open the door and interrupt a billy goat and zebra stallion that were making out.
"Uhh, this room's taken"
"Ba-a-a-a-a-ack away and close the door, please."

>>407765
"It does nothing."
"Right now."
"Different stones do different things."
"But we have no stones."
"It does not need to do anything that the old arch did."
"Or do it in the same way."
"If you build it you choose what it does."
"And how long what it does lasts."

>>407767
You walk into a room with a picture of a bathtub on the door and come face to face with an orgy in full swing.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 407769

>>407768
"Them or someone else. I don't really care. It's all the same. I don't think it was the ghosts, though. I don't think they can write."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407770

>>407768
…Right. Back out, close the door.
Let's… look for a different bath chamber. '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

407771

Let me just meditate for a while. In the middle of a party.

I hope an answer to something comes.

Roll #1 9 = 9

Pomelo [Preacher] 407772

>>407768
I pretend to cover my eyes with my hooves while still peeking
"Bessy, let's just let them have some quiet time.."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407773

>>407768
"O- Oh… Okay!…"
I immediately close the door and head back to the twins.
"Twiiins! Ponies and goats and zebras kissing and doing all sorts of other not at all party things!"

Andelia [druid] 407774

>>407761
>>407768
I take a moment to look over the arch.
"I have taken the steps to become closer with nature, that's why I was gifted the wolf. I haven't formally joined the church or taken any oath yet, If that's what you're asking."

Andelia [druid] 407775

>>407773
>>407772
I frown "Don't be scared, its not even complete yet."

Campfire 407776

>>407769
"It was them. They send messages to their old friends and had the high priests consult nature for other heroes to summon. you don't match the descriptions they gave us of their friends, so you must be one of the new heroes."
He bends down to shake your hoof.
"It's good to meet you."

>>407770
You close the door to some disappointed moans and find a new one. You find a large tub with some ponies, zebras, diamond dogs, buffloes, and ostriches that are soaking in the hot water.

>>407772
You think you see the billygoat wink at you before the door shuts.

>>407773
"Tha-a-a-a-a-ank you, miss."
The Twins look back from the doorway.
"Kissing is party things."
"Kissing party things is also a party."
"A party for your parts."
"A party party."
"That was terrible."
"We are sorry."
"We had these rooms made for privacy."
"Having that sort of party in the main party room."
"Is not everyone's favorite type of party."

>>407774
"Oh good."
"That means you can find the temple to Discord."
"If you want to."

>>407775
"No, they haven't completed yet."
"They were only starting from the sound of it."

Campfire 407777

>>407771
There is a hard road ahead of you. Relax and have fun while you still can.

Olga [Lifebinder] 407778

>>407771
Did that shed any light on the flower?

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407779

>>407776
"But… but… those aren't supposed to be parties! Those things are supposed to be for ponies that love each other very very much! And just between ponies that love each other very much!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407780

>>407776
"What about baths? Unoccupied baths."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407781

>>407776
I'll keep this one in mind, but I can't find any private baths, can I? '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 407782

>>407776
Shrug and shake it as I guzzle a little bit of the bottle.

"Sure thing, pally. Nature must know it takes a thief."

Pomelo [Preacher] 407783

>>407779
"B-Bessy, let's just go back to where the actual fun party is at."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407784

>>407781
No, doesn't look like it. Well, there had better at least be a place for me to put my stuff.

Campfire 407785

>>407779
"That's one way of looking at it."
"It also feels good."
"Very good."
"Gets the blood pumping."
"Pumping blood has nice taste."

>>407780
"There are a few left."
"Probably."

>>407781
Nope. All of them are either full right now, or would take a bit of cleaning before use. The people here seem civil enough though.

>>407782
"A light hoof is always a good thing."
He offers you the blindfold.
"Care for a game?"

>>407783
"It's fun back here too."
"You can find a room for you and your unicorn."
"If you want."
"We promise its private."
"Or rejoin the party."
"Dancing, drinking, playing foal games."
"Two types of fun."
"Both different types of good."

Olga [Lifebinder] 407786

>>407778
>>407777
Ah, well.

Granny needs her nap.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407787

>>407785
Well, no sense on standing on ceremony. Not like they haven't seen it before, anyway. Shucking off the armor, and any other knickknacks Happyhorn might have squirreled in the wild tangle that is my hair, I'll settle into the hot water for a good soak. Pity the little goat isn't here as well.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 407788

>>407785
Scrutinize him a minute, then shrug. "Yeah, okay. Sue, why not?"

Take the blindfold, spin with a flourish, and charge. '1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

Andelia [druid] 407789

>>407776
"Maybe tomorrow I can take a look for you, see if they have the parts you need. Twins, have you been reading many books?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407790

>>407785
"B- B- But… but… that's not part of a party! Pinkie frowns on having that at a party!"
I frown and try to pray to Pinkie to get her thoughts on the matter.
'1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

Pomelo [Preacher] 407791

>>407785
"…I'll pass. I'd rather just… have a normal fun party"

Campfire 407792

>>407786
Hornbeard leads you to the hallway and helps you find an empty room. After that he helps you into bed and stands guard at the door.

>>407787
You soak in the hot water while the others converse abut local politics, events, and celebrities. The only raunchiness is the occasional joke that gets hearty laughter from the others.

>>407788
Loud cheering springs up around you. Someone tears your blindfold off and you get a chance to see your perfectly positioned tale before the crowd lifts you up and start parading you around the room while chanting about your skill and pin the tale on the horse.

>>407789
"Yes."
"All sorts."
"We have a small library."

>>407790
There called party parts for a reason, silly. So long as you and your friends are grown up and want to have that kind of party then there's no reason not to! Always remember to use protection if you don't want a special surprise! Hahahaha, seriously, use protection if you don't want a calf.

Campfire 407793

>>407791
"Then the party for you is back there."
"Dance, drink, play, have fun."
The sound of a dog whining comes from the end of the hallway.
"Sorry, Sandy."
"We are coming."
The Twins start walking towards and overjoyed looking Sandy.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 407794

>>407792
"Woah, hey, turns out my hoof's a friggin' flank magnet – who woulda guessed?"

Enjoy the crowd a bit. They're not so bad for evil ponies. Anything else of interest going on? Where'd the others go? They're seeing my glory, right?

Pomelo [Preacher] 407795

>>407793
I just put a slightly grossed out look at them as they walk away.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407796

>>407792
Right, let's clean up as best I can, maybe even sorta kinda comb the mess that is buffalo hair, and then grab a towel to dry off.
Rolling for clean tidiness. '1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

Andelia [druid] 407797

>>407795
I take you back to the party. "Hey, lets have some fun. Party until we drop right?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407798

>>407796
Nope! Back in the bath. I missed quite a few spots.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407799

>>407792
"B- But… party parts isn't what they're called at all! That's just a silly word because the real words are not nice to say! And… and… th- they always told us that those things only go on between ponies that love each other very much and are in a relationship together!"
I start panicking slightly.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407800

Find the library. Start reading that book.
'1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Andelia [druid] 407801

>>407799
"Bessy, why not fire off that party canon a few times." I say guiding you back to the main event.

Pomelo [Preacher] 407802

>>407797
I hold on to Bessy
"Give us a bit Andy. I think she's getting upset…"

>>407799
"Bessy calm down buddy. What's wrong?"

Andelia [druid] 407803

>>407802
I blink stopping. "Maybe you're right.. but.."
>>407799
"Bessy, please.. you're not upset over some kissing? Sometimes ponies get excitied at parties and want to do that kind of thing, they had their own room.."

Campfire 407804

>>407794
The others have vanished. There is dancing happening on one side of the room, drinking and eating on another, partying and party games all around, and your party instincts tell you that fun of a more adult nature can be found past the beaded curtain so long as you can find a volunteer or two.

>>407795
They lead Sandy into one of the bedrooms and shut the door.

>>407796
All of the bath patrons get up and leave as a ton of old hair, dirt, blood, and much starts coming off of your body.

>>407799
A rose by any other name would smell so sweet, Bessy. They tell you that because bad things can happen if you don't know what you are getting into. Be safe, do it with people who want to do it, and I won't have a problem with it. Loving relationships are great if you want to have a little bundle of joy, but a fling between friends, or even people that just met, is nice for a night of fun.

>>407800
You ignore the couple kissing in the library and crack open the book. What would you like to look for?
You only need to roll for this if I say so.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 407805

>>407801
>>407802
>>407803
"P- Pinkie said that… she said that…"
Wait a minute…

>>407804
"YOU'RE NOT THE REAL PINKIE ARE YOU?!"
I try to pray to the real Pinkie now!
'1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 407806

>>407804
Um, the stuff about casting see-ems better.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407807

>>407804
Well, that's why I wanted a private bath in the first place. Hope those twins aren't too angry at this…
And after I get clean myself up, I'll dry off and comb a bit.
I've got to look more presentable now, though, right? '1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

Andelia [druid] 407808

>>407805
"Said what?" I look concerned. "Come on, snap out of it. We've got to go show off your party canon!"

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 407809

>>407804
Seek out Brutus. He's the only normal one here.

Well… almost normal.

Pomelo [Preacher] 407810

>>407805
"What'd she say?"
I put my ear to her head in a vain attempt to hear her praying.

Campfire 407811

>>407805
It's me, Bessy. If I were Discord i would have told you to poke holes in condoms, or use balloons as condoms, orrrr oh where's my list.
You can hear some papers shuffling inside your head.
Things Discord has told my followers while pretending to be me: The list. Poke holes in condoms, use balloons as condoms, use condoms as balloons, surprise anal is fun for mares, you can't get pregnant on your first time, you can't get pregnant if you are both suspended upside down, foreplay is for losers, itching powder is a great way to spice things up in bed, diamond dogs don't really hav-actually from here on it gets sort of dirty and I don't think you want to hear it.

>>407806
Oh.
The kissing couple is pretty annoying and despite your best efforts you become too annoyed to get much from the book.

>>407807
You look very presentable, and even managed to preserve most of Happyhorn's bunker.

>>407809
You find him in a room with a large bathtub. The bathwater is brown and has lots of hair floating in it.

>>407810
Hey! No eavesdropping!

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 407812

>>407811
>>407807

"Oh, geez. Baths aren't too nice here, are they?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407813

>>407812
I'll give a quick laugh.
"Not after I'm done with them, it seems. Apparently I picked up quite a lot of grime and dirt in there. Not to mention blood."
I'll frown, though.
"Hope they don't mind terribly what I did to their bath… Don't quite see cleaning supplies in plain view…"

Campfire 407814

>>407805
>>407811
Now don't get me wrong, you don't have to if yoou don't want to. there are plenty of ways to party and have fun, so you don't have to do all of them.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 407815

>>407813
"You know how nature lovers are. They'll probably love it. Oh yeah, a new layer of mud and sticks, just what I want, hallelujah."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407816

>>407815
"Well, considering the rest of the folk using the bath cleared out right quick, I doubt these are nature baths."
Shake my head, and start getting back into my suit of armor.
"So, what did you get up to, pegasus?"

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 407817

>>407816
"Turns out I'm a world champ at party games. Whodda guessed? Oh wait, that's right. Anyone with brains. Ain't that right, tons of fun?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407818

>>407817
I'll just shake my head with a small chuckle.
"You talk quite a bit for a master thief, you know."

Campfire 407819

[PAUSED]

Everyone now has 1 skillpoint they can spend.

Please, for God's sake, if you have a problem that isn't related to how the dice fall I want you to tell me over Steam. If my players aren't having fun there is no reason for me to run this.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 407820

>>407819
Neat. And I've got no problems, Campy. You're doing fine.

Campfire 411558

After several hours the party starts to finally wind down. The priests and priestesses that are too inebriated to make it back to the temple through the dungeon guarding the Twin's lair instead make makeshift beds out of pillows in the corners of the large party area or try to find an unclaimed bed further back in the hallway. The Twins gather the party and lead them down the hallway and through a door that looks identical to all the others. Instead of a bedroom, however, behind this door is a respectably sized library. After moving a sleeping pony off of a large table and gathering some more chairs the Twins invite the party to talk with them.
"We hope you all had fun."
"We are sorry if this caught any of you by surprise."
"But the fun time is over."
"The talking time starts now."
"We have heard there is something in the mansion."
"We have said what we think it is."
"But we know little else."
"How did you find the Inquisitors?"
"Have you had any negative encounters in the city?"
"If you have had them you will know what we mean."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 411564

>>411558
"We encountered the inquisitors shortly after getting assaulted by vampires."

Pomelo [Preacher] 411568

>>411564
>>411558
I nod
"Yeah, that. Plus a bunch of mean mares threw me out of that bath we went to! That was a pretty negative encounter…"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 411569

>>411568
"Probably not quite what they mean."

Andelia [druid] 411570

>>411558
"The people here aren't too friendly, and I don't trust the inquisitors at all." I say

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 411571

>>411568
"You did end up on the wrong side of the divider, if memory serves."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411578

>>411558
>>411568
"Yeah! They were big meanies… they didn't even let us put bubbles into the bath!"

Pomelo [Preacher] 411583

>>411571
"Don't be silly! It had the same water on both sides. How's one side wronger than the other?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 411585

>>411583
"It was a divided bath. Males were to go on one side, females the other. Prevents horseplay between genders."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411588

>>411585
I frown.
"That's silly. Me and Pommy have taken baths together our whole lives!"

Campfire 411590

>>411564
"Vampires, yes."
"That is a negative encounter."
"They are not ours."
"We promise."
"They do not know of us."
"We wish to keep it that way."
"They have destroyed a few of our friends."
"We want them all to burn."
"Our diamond dogs friends help us hunt them when a small nest is found."
"But that has only happened twice."

>>411568
>>411571
>>411578
>>411585
"The bathhouses are a large part of the city's culture."
"We aren't sure why."
"We went there once."
"It is boring at night."
"There was that one pony."
"He nearly ruined the bath when he saw our teeth."

>>411570
"Our friends tell us the people here blame Equestria for the Calamity that nearly destroyed the city."
"It is natural they do not like Equestrians."
"Especially if they act like tourists."
"Not trusting inquisitors is smart."
"But they may be useful."
"We can use them like a tool."
"A dangerous tool."
"With your help."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 411591

>>411588
"Yes, but there were more than just you and Pomelo. What if some random nanny goat or buffalo bull approached and decided to start hitting on you in the bath? Making advances?"

Andelia [druid] 411593

>>411590
I nod "I think they trust us, at least enough to talk to, they would have been eating out of our hooves if we stayed and defeated that shadow.. but what's done is done."
"what do you want to know from them?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 411594

>>411590
"Perhaps the hostile vampires, if somehow that is an abnormal state for a vampire and I suspect it is not –- perhaps the hostile vampires have something to do with that presence under the mansion."

Pomelo [Preacher] 411595

>>411591
"Then they gotta go through ME"
I flash my stubby little teeth and growl

>>411590
I hold back a giggle
"Where'd those other blood sucky guys come from then?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411598

>>411591
"I'd just tell them no! That's all I need to do."

Campfire 411599

>>411593
"Why did you leave?"
"You never told us."
"It may be wise to check back on them."
"Once you are rested."

>>411594
"They are normal."
"We are not."
"If our father still controlled us."
"This would be a bloody temple."
"With fewer priests."
"And more vampires."
"We doubt the vampires are responsible for the thing under the mansion."
"It may be the opposite."

>>411595
"Most every city."
"According to our books."
"Has vampire problems from time to time."
"This city has much more than a problem."
"We think the vampires are here for the same reason we are."
"Which is the same reason necromancers flock here."
"And evil cultists."
"And werebeats."
"And all manner of evil things."

>>411595
"How fierce."
"Rawr."
"Like a tiger."

Andelia [druid] 411600

>>411599
I frown "The shadow scared dreamkicker, and the others were tired, scared. I was barely standing on my own hooves when we left, we didn't want to risk dying for them ."

Pomelo [Preacher] 411601

>>411599
I tilt my head
"And that reason would be…?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411602

>>411599
I tilt my head.
"What's so special about this city that draws all the weird creepy things here?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 411603

>>411600
"I was not 'scared.' Sensibility is not the same as fear."

>>411599
"Well, yes, of course. It seems far more likely that whatever it was I detected creates or draws them to it.

"In any case, is this the entire reason you summoned us to this country?"

Andelia [druid] 411604

>>411602
>>411599
my eyes light up a little"Oh." and then I frown "Twins, you don't think that thing can help you… do you?"
>>411603
I smile "of course you weren't."

Campfire 411607

>>411600
They nod.
"They are not worth dying for."
"Speaking of death."
"There is a temple of Grogar in this city."
"It's priests and priestesses opperate within this city's laws."
"They can bring you back."
"For a price."
"if you die."

>>411601
>>411602
"We are not sure."
"Something pulled us here."
"We think something pulled us here."
"We wandered from city to city."
"Town to town."
"Crossed the ocean."
"And wandered more."
"When we came here."
"We felt that we should stay."
"And wander no more."
"We would not be suspicious."
"If not for everything else in the city."

>>411603
"It would not be what drew them here."
"Our guess is that it is the merest fraction of what pulled them here."
"We summoned you all because we feared for our safety."
"And the safety of our friends."
"You can destroy the things threatening us."
"And threatening our friends."

>>411604
"Help?"
"Maybe."
"If we are right about our guesses."
"And did everything right."
"And got lucky."
"We could rule this city likes gods."
"Every soul in it would be ours."
"And what is left of ours would belong to something else."
"We would not be ticks hiding on the underbelly of the city."
"But vampires the likes of which have not been seen in this world since Discord came into being."
"But that is not what we want."
"Not in that way."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 411609

>>411607
"Oh, excellent. So I imagine that we go risk our lives in trying to destroy some horrible evil thing from beyond this world, while you both sit here and do other equally horrible things to your thralls and their 'party parts' as Pommy would say.

"Well sign me up!

I give a delirious and quite obviously insincere grin.

"No, really. Why should we?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 411610

>>411607
"You two ruling anything… no. Nonononononono!"
I take a step back
"What do we gotta do to help keep that from happening!?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411611

>>411607
"Oh no… nononono!"
I take a step back with Pommy.
"N- Not in that way?…"

Campfire 411613

>>411609
They both look hurt.
"Because we thought you were our friends."
"If you want us to be torn apart by rival vampires."
"Or put to the steak by inquisitors."
"Or sacrificed by cultists."
"And if you want to same to happen to our friends."
"Leave."
"We do nothing horrible our friends."
"They enjoy it all."
"We never force anything on them."

>>411610
>>411611
"You do not have to do anything to stop it."
"We would not rule the city."
"Not like that."
"If the people wanted us to."
"Certainly."
"More friends."
"More freedom."
"It would be like we were alive."
"We have not seen the night sky in over a month"

Pomelo [Preacher] 411614

>>411613
"Hmm…"

>>411609
"Maybe we should help them Dreamy? I know they're a little weird, but they don't seem pure bad."
I put a hoof to my chin
"Well, maybe more than a little weird…"

Campfire 411616

>>411614
"We are fine with our friends here."
"But not with the hiding."
"Destroy the threats."
"And we will be content."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411618

>>411613
>>411616
"And you won't try to take over the city?…"

Pomelo [Preacher] 411619

>>411618
"I… trust them. A little bit. I don't think they would."

I lean in
"And if we take down whatever's coming after them, and they end up being big mean butts, then that means we're strong enough to slap them silly too!"

Campfire 411620

>>411618
"Take over?"
"No."
"But we are good at making friends."
"It will be easier to meet ponies when we can go out at night."

>>411619
"Thank you for trusting us."
"We would hug you."
"But we do not want to upset you."
"This is a time for seriousness."
"It does mean that."
"We hope you will do that."
"If we turn really evil."

"Are there any more questions?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 411621

>>411619
"Yes, I suppose that's how Paper rationalized helping Scissors."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411622

>>411619
"Andy trusts them too… I guess I'll trust them."
I giggle as he leans in.
"Yeah! We can totally kick their butts if they turn into big meanies!"

>>411620
"I don't think I have anymore questions!"

Pomelo [Preacher] 411624

>>411620
"None except for where do we go to beat up what?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 411625

>>411624
>>411622
>>411620
"How about, 'What are we going to get out of this, other than your assurance that you won't be feeding on anypony out here or that you'll be very appreciative?'"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 411626

>>411620
>>411625
"Perhaps you can simply take them on their word, as I have had for all of you?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 411627

>>411626
I laugh derisively.

Campfire 411632

>>411621
"If you wish to say something."
"Say it."
"We have stopped mocking your intelligence."
"And your odor."
"Please show us the same respect."
"At least while we talk about these dangers."

>>411622
"Very well."
"Thank you for your time."

>>411624
"We aren't sure."
"The biggest concern to us is the vampires."
"You would have to get a location of a nest from one of them."
"A time sensitive concern is the fate of the Inquisitors."
"Other concerns are the cultists."
"And the werebeasts."

>>411625
"You take things from your kills."
"That is what heroes in our books do."
"So one of the things you get is wealth."
"You get to spend time in this city."
"What we have seen of it is beautiful."
"We would offer you more parties."
"But none of you seemed to enjoy last night."
"Not even the party games we copied from the Laughter worshipers."
"You also get our thanks."
"Our thanks as your friends."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 411635

>>411632
"I did enjoy the bath, though I am sorry about the mess."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411636

>>411632
"Well… maybe the next party me and Pommy can really show you how to party!"
I grin and hop.

Pomelo [Preacher] 411640

>>411636
"Yeah!"

>>411632
"Time-sensitive?"

Campfire 411641

>>411635
"You went into a house that was abandoned for centuries."
"And fought things."
"Of course you were dirty."
"It is our fault for not maker stricter tub use rules."

>>411636
They look at each other.
"What was out party missing?"
"It had almost everything."
"Except some of the herbs Nature blesses us with."
"Feeding on somepony under their influence."
"Is not something we wish to risk repeating."

>>411640
"They are in a mansion."
"With what could be leftover from the night Nightmare Moon ruled the world."
"It will die."
"Or they will."
"If you left them we doubt they will wait for you to come back."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 411642

>>411632
"Fine.

"I still don't trust the two of you. But I'll concede that it is… unlikely that you will try to eat all of us after this is over."

"As for a reward:

"Surely you have some wealth accumulated by now? Artifacts of power? Old tomes you've found lying about the sewer?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 411643

>>411642
>>411641
"I'm certain if we go back to the mansion, and find the inquisitors have not fared well in our absence, anything they might have claimed would be, as the saying goes, up for grabs."

Pomelo [Preacher] 411645

>>411641
"Oh…t-think we still got time to help them?"
I gulp and frown

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411647

>>411641
I frown.
"Maybe not the herbs… but we can get those party games right and make them reeeeally fun!"

Campfire 411648

>>411642
"We have said it many times."
"We do not want to eat you."
"Or your friends."
"A quick bite would be nice."
"But only Andelia has ever shown interest."
"Our wealth is our friends."
"The artifacts and tomes kept here belong to the temple."
"We have a few regular books."
"Fiction and nonfiction."
"And some comics."
"But we doubt you want those."
"About what you asked."
"We will talk to our friends."
"We cannot give you much."
"But the temple may decide to give gifts."

>>411643
"That is true."
"Should they all be dead."
"Getting inside may prove impossible."
"Unless the thing opens it."
"That would be a whole other kind of trouble."

>>411645
"We do not know."
"You should all rest before returning."
"The sun rises soon."
"When did you all last sleep?"

>>411647
"How can you make them more fun?"
"We follow the rules when we play."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411651

>>411648
I giggle.
"That's a Pinkie secret!"

Pomelo [Preacher] 411652

>>411648
"It's been a bit… I don't wanna hold off on rescuing them, but if we go in all sore an' sleepy, that'll put us at risk too…"
I shake my head and yawn

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 411653

>>411648
I'll think a moment.
"Do you suppose it gets weaker, or sleeps, during the day? It didn't seem to start showing itself until near nightfall, so the inquisitors likely walked into its lair at the height of its depleted power."

Olga [Lifebinder] 411654

>>411648
"Are you saying we should strike at the Vampires during the day, as that is their weakness? If the Inquisitors fail, then.. we should go at night. They would be prepared for an attack in the day."

Campfire 411655

>>411651
"We used to know them."
"Did we?"
"One of us?"
"It hurts to think back."

>>411652
"We can find empty beds."
"Clean beds."
"We can try to find them."
"If not there are pillows."
"Pillows in the party room."
"Make them into a pile and sleep there."

>>411653
"It may."
"If we are right about it."
"There has been no contact with that kind of thing."
"Not since the big wall was finished."
"We don't know for sure."
"It may have been waiting for its power to rise."
"It may have been waiting to see if other things would defeat you all."
"We do not know."

>>411654
"Of course."
"The best time to kill a vampire is when the sun is up."
"They will have guards."
"Ghouls."
"Maybe ponies too."
"But vampires sleep deep."
"Fighting would not wake them up."
"Not unless it was in the room with their coffins."

Pomelo [Preacher] 411656

>>411655
"I just hope they're okay by then…"

Olga [Lifebinder] 411658

>>411655
"Troubling, either way…"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 411659

>>411655
"We can likely afford a few hours rest, but we'll have to get back in there before too long."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411660

>>411655
"You did?…"
I shake my head.
"Those inquisitors might be in trouble though?… They were great big jerks but I don't want them to get hurt!"

Campfire 411661

>>411656
"We do too."
"They will do our work for us."
"And help you with yours."

>>411658
"Very troubling."
"Very indeed."

>>411659
"Everyone needs sleep."
"Even us."

>>411660
"We don't remember."
"It is a fog."
"The Inquisitors are tools."
"You are a smart buffalo."
"Wanting your tools to get hurt is not smart."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 411662

>>411661
"I have no further questions."
I'll look to the others.

Pomelo [Preacher] 411663

>>411661
"Maybe a little rest… You said something about a pillow pile right?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411665

>>411661
>>411663
"Pillow pile?"
I give a hop.
"A pillow pile would be soooo much fun!"

Campfire 411666

>>411662
"Are you sure?"
"This is the first time we have really met."
"Ask anything."

>>411663
>>411665
"There are pillows that can be made into piles if you want."
"Sleeping with friends."
"Not like that."
"Can be fun."
"But there might be a bedroom or three available if you want privacy."
"Or a real mattress."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 411667

>>411666
I'll look to the others, and then back at the twins.
"Okay, I do have one. How did all of you meet, and get on good terms with one another? To my knowledge, most vampires don't exactly practice consent."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 411668

>>411666
"I have some business to attend to in the library."

Pomelo [Preacher] 411669

>>411666
"Oh oh! Can we have our own bed and pile pillows on it!? Me, Bessy, and Dreamy are fine in one room, just lotsa pillows would be so neat!"

Campfire 411671

>>411667
"Our father took over the lair of lich."
"A lich that was guarding a town his family helped found."
"Once he was secure he made us."
"He was insane."
"He tried to make us into his lost children."
"It did not work right."
"Just like it did not work right when he tried it with others."
"That is what his journal says."
"We watched them travel through the lich's lair with our father."
"When they got past the lich he sent us to kill them."
"We became separated by gates."
"So we watched."
"And taunted."
"Then talked."
"And listened."
"Teacher Olga told us about Nature."
"And respect for the living."
"Andelia told us about love."
"And niceness."
"And taught us trust."
"By sticking her neck out for us."
"They helped us gain freedom from our father."
"And let us escape."

>>411668
"This is the library."
"It is where we are."

>>411669
"That is doable."
"You may wish to shake the pillows off first."
"Lots of ponies."
"And others."
"Walk on them."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411672

>>411666
>>411669
"Oh man oh man oh man oh man! That'd be so much fun! It'd be like… a sleepover!"
I start excitedly hopping.

>>411671
"So they're just all dusty and dirty from hooves?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 411673

>>411672
"By those standards you've been having a sleepover in my library for the last eight months."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 411674

>>411671
I'll shake my head a little.
"Were it only so easy to bring others around."
Stifling a yawn, I'll blink a few times, and then nod to the twins.
"But it seems I'm ready to sleep a few hours. If you'll excuse me…"
And then I'll find a nice room with a bed. '1d10' or failing that a small drift of pillows that aren't too uncomfortable.

Roll #1 8 = 8

Pomelo [Preacher] 411675

>>411673
"A fun one!"

>>411671
"Used pillows? Ewww… You don't have any cleans ones?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411676

>>411673
"You mean we haven't?"
I tilt my head at him.

Campfire 411677

>>411672
"And butts."
"But that is what the pillows are for."
"Sitting on."
"Cold stone is not good for your butt."

>>411673
"The three of you live together?"
"We wish we had known."
"It would have saved one of our friends much time and effort."

>>411674
You find a nice room with a nice sized bed. It looks freshly made.

>>411675
"We can find clean ones now that we think about it."
"Clean pillows, not butts."
"We have a few laundry closets."
"No butt closets."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 411678

>>411677
Perfect. Just need a few hours.
Shuck off my armor, settle in, and snooze.

Olga [Lifebinder] 411680

>>411671
"And I hope you shall continue to do well as you have! Now.. Granny Olga needs to.. sleep."

Pomelo [Preacher] 411681

>>411677
"Woo! No butt pillows for us tonight!"
I hop off and find a closet with a whoooole bunch of pillows '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411682

>>411681
And I help!
'1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

Campfire 411683

>>411678
This bed is much more comfortable than the one at the inn and doesn't creek or groan under your buffalo weight. When you wake up you will awaken well rested.

>>411680
Hornbeard is by your side.
"I will help you to a room, mistress Olga."
The Twins guide you both to a room.
"Will you need an room for him?"
"Or will he stay with you?"

>>411681
>>411682
The two of you find one of the pillow closets. You aren't sure why it's called a pillow closest, because this is some sort of pillow vault. Inside are pillows of all shape, size, color, fuzziness and softness to choose from.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411684

>>411683
"Oh.
My.
GOSH.
THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER."
I excitedly hop around.

Pomelo [Preacher] 411685

>>411684
"OH GOSH IT REALLY IS!"
I jump in and roll around on a few of the pillows, then I stick my head out of the closet and yell.

"Hey we found your not-butt pillows! Where can we take 'em?"

Campfire 411686

>>411685
"We can help you all find a bedroom."
"You cannot sleep here."
"Our friends that organize this place would be mad."

>>411684
The Twins are both suddenly on your back.
"We are not sure why you and the unicorn need pillows."
"Bessy is softer than some of the pillows."
"None of our buffalo friends are this soft."
"What is your secret?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 411687

>>411686
"Friends?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 411688

>>411686
Go to the library and start reading those books I found.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411689

>>411686
"Friends that organize the place? Who's that?"

"Also, uh… I dunno! My fur's always been this soft! Even when we were little kids Pommy would always like to sleep on my back!"

Pomelo [Preacher] 411690

>>411686
I hop up too and glare back and forth between them.
"Get off her she ain't your pillow!"
I rub my face against her back
"Besides, she's a much better blanket"

Olga [Lifebinder] 411691

>>411683
"I would like to rest alone to medidate. He, too, could use some solitude to help him think."

Campfire 411692

>>411687
"The Nature priests."
"And the Nature Priestesses."

>>411688
You will need to roll to read your magic book and give me an idea of what you are looking for in the vampire book.

>>411689
"Some of the priests and priestesses."
"They help us with all the washing."
"You were born with this?"
"There is no diet?"
"No shampoo?"
"No magic?"
"Darn."
"So sad."

>>411690
"So fierce."
"A firecracker."
They jump down.
"She looks like she would be too warm for a blanket."
"Not that we would know."
"No blankets in the coffins."

>>411691
Meanwhile, when the Twins were in the hallway
"We will take him to a room."
"Let us know if you need anything."
"Goodmorning, teacher."
"Sleep well."

Pomelo [Preacher] 411693

>>411692
I yawn
"So, you have a bed big enough to fit all three of us, right?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411694

>>411692
"Ooh… And… yeah! I was just born with this."
I put a hoof up to my chin.
"Though… I sometimes like to use this homemade shampoo mixture! Made from strawberries and bananas and candy and other neat things! It makes my coat smell all sweet and neat!"
I giggle at the rhyme.

Campfire 411695

>>411693
"Yes."
"If you put the pillows around it."

>>411694
"We will look into that."
"Thank you."

"Are you two ready to see your room?"
"We can help carry pillows."

Pomelo [Preacher] 411696

>>411695
"Yes!"
I try to balance a whole bunch on my back to carry!

I try to balance a whole bunch to carry back along with Pommy!
'1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

Campfire 411699

>>411696
You manage to stack a whole bunch of pillows on your back.

>>411697
You sit down in the piece and quiet of the library and crack open your book. Despite belonging to a pair of bloodsucking freaks and their crazy sex cult the peaceful atmosphere allows you to read a good chunk of the book, but you can tell you aren't even a quarter of the way done yet.

>>411698
You balance so many on your back that you have trouble getting out the door. The stay put, however, your faith in Pinkie Pie causing the pillows to ignore the laws of physics and the stack bends backwards while scraping against the door frame.

Pomelo [Preacher] 411700

>>411699
"B-Bessy! Are we gonna even use all of these!?"
Follow the twins to wherever they're leading us

Olga [Lifebinder] 411701

Did we have a skill point to spend?

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 411702

>>411699
Well keep reading, then.

I follow the twins as well.

Campfire 411704

>>411701
Yes.

>>411700
>>411703
The Twins lead the two of you to an empty bedroom. Inside is a bed with clean sheets and a comfortable looking mattress.
"Do you need help with the pillows?"
"We can help."

>>411702
It's been a very long day. You start to tilt forwards and are asleep by the time your face hits the book.
This book can only be read once a session.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 411705

>>411704
I stare in awe and excitement at the bed.
"No… we don't need help."
And then…

The two of you build a pretty good pillow fort. If you had to guess you'd say it was about 16 out of 20 on the double goodness scale.
"Goodmorning."
"Sleep well."

>>411707
You wake up before you can drool too much on your book and retire to your room. The Twins wish you a good morning as they walk past you on the way to their coffins.

Pomelo [Preacher] 411709

>>411708
"You too!"
I climb in the pillow fort, leaving room for Dreamkicker and Bessy, and fall asleep

Shortcake [Rogue] 413935

The party is awoken by the Twins, who each look very tired. After everyone has had a chance to preform their morning routines the Twins lead all of you to the bar in the party room where plates of breakfast food, glasses of fresh juice, and steaming coffee await.
"Please."
"Eat."
"Almost morning."
"Magic beds."
"Each of you should."
"Be well rested."
"Decide."
"Help Inquisitors."
"Hunt vampires."
"Or do whatever."
While one speaks the other yawns widely and loudly. There are large bags under their eyes and both are wearing identical bedrobes.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 413937

>>413935
"Did you spend all morning making this for us? Or at least helping? Thank you."

Pomelo [Preacher] 413940

"We should go back and help them…"
I stretch and stuff as much as I can in my mouth '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

andelia [druid] 413943

>>413935
I give the twins each a hug "see you when we get back tonight. "

Olga [Lifebinder] 413948

>>413935
"Ooooh! Such good children."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 413953

>>413940
"Presuming they're still around."

Grab a pastry or something.

Shortcake [Rogue] 413954

>>413937
"Sun."
"Still down."
"Only slept."
"Couple of hours."

>>413940
You stretch your mouth open wide, but not cartoonishly wide, and begin stuffing pancakes and I-can't-believe-it's-not-real-meat® sausages into your mouth.

>>413943
They both give you a loose, tired hug.
"Tha-"
They both yawn at the same time.
"Stay."
"Safe."
One of them dozes off on your shoulder.

>>413948
The one that is still awake smiles at you sleepily.

>>413953
You grab a strawberry danish.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 413958

>>413954
"They should likely be put to bed. Or to coffin. I'm not quite sure about where they sleep."
And I'll start making myself a plate of assorted breakfast foods.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 413961

>>413954
"Maybe you two should get some rest too…"
Ooh!
Can I whip up something to help them sleep?
'1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Pomelo [Preacher] 413965

>>413953
"Then we should hurry!"

>>413954
"Hey sleepyheads! That tunnel wasn't close yet, right?

Shortcake [Rogue] 413976

>>413958
You get yourself some eggs, biscuits with gravy, two bowls of cereal, some oatmeal, a few slices of toast, and a slice of cold pizza left over from last night.

>>413961
You probably don't need to considering that you just watched a vampire fall asleep outside of its coffin.

>>413965
The sleeping one wakes up.
"Sandy."
"Closed it."
"Security."
"Reasons."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 413980

>>413976
Grand. Time to tuck in. Its not like they'd trust me to cart the two… children back to their beds.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 413981

>>413980
"Lay off the food. We have work to do."

>>413976
"Well then what is the quickest way back to the mansion?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 413983

>>413976
Oh.
I guess I start digging in to the food!
'1d10'

As I eat, I ask,
"They closed it?… So how are we gonna get back now?"

Roll #1 5 = 5

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 413985

>>413981
"You can't fight on an empty stomach, and breakfast is the one meal you should never miss. A large enough one can keep you going the whole day."

Pomelo [Preacher] 413987

>>413976
"Oh no… now we'll have to get there the slow way…"
My ears flatten
"Maybe we shouldn't have slept…"

andelia [druid] 413988

>>413954
I pat the sleeping one on the back. "You both are sweet for staying up so long, maybe I can stay an extra minute to tell you about a story, maybe about the mirror.." I guide them toward their beds

Shortcake [Rogue] 413994

>>413980
You dig into the buffalo sized breakfast.

>>413983
You grab a portion that matches the size of the one in front of Brutus and dig in.

>>413981
>>413987
"Other."
"Dog."
"Can."
"Take you."

>>413988
They follow you.
"Can't."
"Stay."
"Awa-"
One of them stumbles.
"Awake."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414002

>>413994
"Fine. Tell one of your… servants… to take us."

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 414004

>>413994
Right. Hey what kind of day doesn't start with a balanced breakfast?

Dig in. '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414005

>>413994
Wonderful. Wonder if I should get a to-go bag for Happyhorn.

Pomelo [Preacher] 414009

>>414002
>>413994
"And tell 'em to hurry!"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 414010

>>413994
>>414002
>>414009
"Yeah!… I hope those inquisitors are okay…"

Shortcake [Rogue] 414011

>>414002
>>414009
>>414010
"One."
"Waiting."

>>414004
You eat a few pieces of toast and three mugs full of the blackest, most powerful coffee you can find. This cannot possibly have been a bad idea.

>>414005
You spot a few of those at the end of the bar.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414014

>>414011
Wonderful.
"Pomelo, come here for a second. I need you to help squirrel away some rations for later."
And then I'll head down to the doggy bags.

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 414015

>>414011
"Woah, hey!" Chuckle along and gulp some more coffee.

"You guys would not BELIEVE how bad this tastes."

Chug the rest of it.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 414017

>>414014
"Heey… wait a minute! What are you planning to use Pommy for?"
I give him an odd look.

>>414015
"…So why are you still drinking it?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414022

>>414017
"Saving food for later. Happyhorn hasn't eaten yet, and some trail food is always good to take along with us."

andelia [druid] 414023

>>413994
"Shh, just rest then. " I tuck them into the coffins " so, I was walking down the hall, and my reflection seemed so odd.. korrin thought so, and Bessy tried to playa game with them"

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 414024

>>414017
"What, ya never hear 'no pain, no gain'? That's like, a core tenet of life or somethin'."

Pomelo [Preacher] 414025

>>414014
I hop after him
"But I'm a goat, not a squ- oh! Doggy bags! Right!"
Start shoving food in bags '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414026

>>414025
And I'll start packing away some of the bread and pastries in other bags.

Shortcake [Rogue] 414030

>>414025
The two of you start shoving food a goat would that (that is to say, all the food you can find) into a few different bags.

>>414015
The world slows down slightly as you finish your cup of coffee. You can hear a fly buzzing around on the other side of the room.

>>414023
Each of them fall asleep as soon as they are in their respective coffin.

>>414026
You stuff a wide variety of breads and pastries into the bags.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 414031

>>414024
"Pinkie said nothing about that though!"

Pomelo [Preacher] 414032

>>414030
"Done!"
Hang the bags up on his horns and hop around the room
"So let's gogogo save some inquisiwhatevers!"

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 414033

>>414030
Wave my hoof in front of my face.

>>414031
"Hey, I'm like one with eternity, or somethin'!"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414036

>>414032
"Now, if you'd be so kind as to tuck a few bags up here in the tangled mess of nest that Happyhorn calls hers, and we can be on the way."

Pomelo [Preacher] 414040

>>414036
I hop on his back, take the bags off his horns, then sit them in Happyhorn's… nest
"She really needs to learn how to brush your back fur. This thing's a mess!"

Campfire 414041

Is everyone ready to go?

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414042

>>414040
"True, but she spent most of yesterday safe up there."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414044

>>414041
I'm ready, since I've got the food squirreled away.
A pity my goat isn't here.

Pomelo [Preacher] 414045

Bessy [Soothsayer] 414047

>>414033
I scratch my head.
"What does that even mean?"

>>414041
Ready!

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414049

Campfire 414050

>>414042
>>414044
>>414045
>>414047
>>414049
All of you walk to the exit of the room and see a tall, lanky diamond dog waiting for you. He stares straight ahead instead of meeting any of your eyes.
"Will you be hunting vampires or helping the Inquisitors?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414051

>>414050
"Inquisitors."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414052

>>414050
"We're going back to the mansion for now. We'll worry about the vampires later."

Pomelo [Preacher] 414053

>>414050
"Inquisitators!"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 414054

>>414050
"Inquisitors! We gotta go and help them!"

Campfire 414055

>>414051
>>414052
>>414053
>>414054
"Very well. Follow."
He turns in place and walks back to the room with dirt walls. Once there, and without breaking his stride, he starts digging a path into the dirt.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414056

>>414055
And after him we'll go.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414057

>>414055
Follow him. Try to avoid getting too much dirt on me.
'1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Pomelo [Preacher] 414058

>>414055
Hide behind Dreamkicker to avoid any dirt! '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

Bessy [Soothsayer] 414059

>>414055
>>414058
And I hide behind Pomelo to avoid getting dirty!
'1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Campfire 414060

>>414056
You do so.

>>414057
>>414058
>>414059
Dreamkicker stays far enough back to keep most of the dirt off himself, but luckily his body is there to catch the dirt that does fly far enough back. Beesylo and Pomegoat stay clean.

After walking for an indeterminate amount of time the diamond dog starts to dig upwards and before long there is a ramp leading to the surface.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414061

>>414060
Thanking the dog, I'll emerge into the sunlight.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 414062

>>414060
I giggle as we walk out to the surface.
"That was kinda like… a conga line!"
I perk up.
"Ooh! Pommy! We should turn this into a conga line!"

Pomelo [Preacher] 414063

>>414062
"YES! A fast one!"
I pat Dreamkicker on the flank
"Conga with us, Dreamy!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414064

>>414063
"Um…. I'll pass."

Shake the dirt off.

Scan the area with see 'ems. What do I see.

Campfire 414065

>>414061
The horizon is only now starting to turn pink and all but the brightest stars have vanished from the purple sky. The sun is not up yet.

>>414062
>>414063
The two of you conga your way to the surface.

>>414064
All of you and the diamond dog are the only ones around.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 414066

>>414064
"Aww… pleeeeeeeease?"
I give him a pleading look.

Pomelo [Preacher] 414067

>>414066
I squish my face next to hers and give my own pleading look.

>>414064
"Yeah… pleeeeeease?

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414068

>>414065
Let's hope it comes up soon. Whatever's in that mansion likely isn't going to go down easy in the darkness.
Start heading towards the gates.
"We should hurry, you three."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414069

>>414066
>>414067
"This isn't really the time to be dancing, you know. We need to get moving. We'll dance later."

Pomelo [Preacher] 414070

>>414069
"Aw, fine. But later FOR SURE, okay?"

>>414068
I follow

Campfire 414071

>>414068
>>414069
>>414070
The lot of you leave the diamond dog as he silently turns and starts closing the tunnel behind him. After a bit of walking you arrive at the gates of the mansion. There is no one visible on either side.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414072

>>414071
Astral project to the inside of the mansion and look/listen around for the inquisitors.

'1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414073

>>414071
Is the barrier still up? Poke it a bit and see.
Though.. if I remember right, the barrier only blocked the inquisitors, and not us.

Pomelo [Preacher] 414074

>>414071
I just stare and Dreamkicker and make funny faces at him while he projects

Campfire 414075

>>414072
You leave you body and run headfirst into the shield surrounding the mansion. Your ethereal representation of your innermost soul sticks to the shield like a fly on flypaper as a magical current runs through you. After a few seconds the shield deactivates and you regain control of your movement.

>>414073
You poke it and you hoof starts to bounce off, but sparks of magic fly off the shield and hold your hoof in place. After a few seconds the shield disappears and you are freed.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414076

>>414075
"Well. This may be difficult.

Do I know of any way to deactivate this type of shield (besides go find more inquisitors)?
'1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414077

>>414075
"Do you think it might be shorting out? Can magic even do that?"

Campfire 414078

>>414076
Dreamkicker.
You speak, but when no one immediately compliments you for your clever question you become suspicious and look around. For some reason you bounced off your body, which is now walking away from the mansion and down the road that leads to the thicker part of the city.

Pomelo [Preacher] 414079

>>414075
So it's gone?
"Well that was freaky…"
Walk up to the front door and wait for the others

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414080

>>414078
Hey! Get back here!

Get back to my body!
'1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

Campfire 414081

>>414080
Dreamkicker
Your body somehow hears you coming and speeds up to a trot.

Campfire 414082

>>414077
>>414079
Dreamkicker has turned and is trotting back towards the thicker part of the city.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414083

>>414082
"Where's he going? It's not like him not to snootily explain his plans, at least as long as I've known him. He wander off often on you two?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414084

>>414081
"You stupid piece of shit. Slow down!"

'1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

Pomelo [Preacher] 414085

>>414082
"Hey! Where ya goin!?
Run after him and hold him in place '1d10'

>>414083
"I got no idea what he's doing!"

Roll #1 4 = 4

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 414086

>>414084
"Hey, uhhhh, little help here, chief? Where you goin'?"

Campfire 414087

>>414084
Dreamkicker
You propel yourself forwards as fast as you can and slam into your body, forcing the ghost that had stolen it out.

>>414085
You dive towards him and grab one of his back legs, but he keeps on walking. Suddenly, he stops and a ghost from the mansion pops out. It wails and tries to flee.
[1d10]

Roll #1 4 = 4

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 414088

>>414087
"Hey, hold up a sec. Sit quietly."

AWIYE '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 414089

>>414088
That has compassion as a reminder.

Pomelo [Preacher] 414090

>>414087
SHOOT IT '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414091

>>414087
Take over my body again.

"Stupid ghosts. He probably left some sort of ectoplasm in here. Ugh."

Shock the ghost!
'1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

Campfire 414092

>>414088
It stops and turns to look at you. Its transparent body is mangled and stretched in gut wrenching ways. Its face is the wrong shape and hanging loosely off its ghostly skull.
It wails at you.

>>414090
Your stone passes harmlessly through the ghost's body.

>>414091
You are still settling back into your body and so your horn is still empty and unable to be used. Give it a few seconds before trying again.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414093

>>414092
Take aim with the crossbow then.
'1d10+1'

Roll #1 2 + 1 = 3

Oh no. Hum a happy tune to stay cool.
Inspire '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 414095

>>414092
Punch him with my horseshoe!

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414096

>>414087
>>414092
Right, well, let's bash it over the head with that nice, new, magic shield. '1d10+1'
"Just what were you trying to do, walking off in that snooty unicorn's body?"

Roll #1 2 + 1 = 3

414097

Roll #1 8 = 8

Bessy [Soothsayer] 414098

>>414092
Uh
Null Shot?
'1d10+3'

Roll #1 5 + 3 = 8

Campfire 414099

>>414093
The ghost splits itself almost completely in half as your arrow sails through the space it once occupied.

>>414094
You him a boring tune.

>>414095
>>414097
Your unenchanted horseshoe passes right through its body. Your leg feels cold now.

>>414096
It dodges out of the way.

>>414098
Your null shot hits the ghost and causes it to stop moving as most of the magic allowing it to continue existing vanishes.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414100

>>414099
Perfect, that means it can't dodge. '1d10+1'

Roll #1 10 + 1 = 11

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414101

>>414099
Errrgh

Shoot it again!
'1d10+1'

Roll #1 4 + 1 = 5

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 414102

>>414099
"Oh, right, I can't fight ghosts at all. Alright, you guys look like you got this under control."

Go back to the mansion and knock on the door.

"Yo, hey, anybody home?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 414103

>>414099
"H- Hey! Ghost! What are you doing?"
I cautiously approach it. What is it doing?

Pomelo [Preacher] 414104

>>414099
I can't damage it, so I just shake my butt at it '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

Campfire 414105

>>414100
In the blink of an eye you bash it with your shield and causes the ghost to burst in a shower of ectoplasm.

>>414101
Before you can reload your crossbow Brutus as already gotten rid of the ghost.

>>414103
It is no longer doing anything.

>>414104
It is no longer around to watch your attempts at making Dreamkicker jealous.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 414106

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414107

>>414106
Stop him before he runs into the barrier.
'1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414108

>>414105
Shake off the shield a little and hitch it back up to my armor.
"Well. Judging by that, I believe the inquisitors failed in their task of fighting whatever was down there."

Campfire 414109

>>414102
There is no door. The ruble that was once blocking the front door has been roughly pushed out of the way and left the part of the building above the front door sagging dangerously. You can hear a responce from up the stairs and to the left, in the head Inquisitor's old office.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 414110

>>414109
Oh right, forgot about that.

Well, to the office!

"Hey, your prom date's here, Mr. Sanctimonious!"

Olga [Lifebinder] 414111

>>414108
"Fools never could have a chance. With no respect for forces that could easily have them broken, what else could have happened?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414112

>>414111
"Let's hurry back. Who knows what's waiting for us in there."
And I'll head back to the manor, following Morass and DK.

Campfire 414113

>>414107
There is no barrier. It deactivated, remember?

>>414110
You see half a pony lying on top of the desk. He frowns at you.
"We had hoped you would come back. Where are the others? I felt the mage and the bull when they touched the shield."

>>414112
You see Morass going up the stairs.

Muddy Morass [Charlatan] 414114

>>414113
"Yeah, yeah. They're comin'. What, Muddy Morass not good enough for ya? They'll be here soon enough."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414115

>>414113
Oh. Bother. Stairs.
"Lighter ones up first. I'd not want to risk leaving you all down here."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 414116

>>414113
I join Muddy up in the office.

H- Half a pony?
"M- Mister Pony? W- Where's… where's your other half?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 414117

>>414113
Half?
"W-What happened to you!?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414118

And then we're all upstairs. Yay.
I assume everyone else has already remarked on the bifurcated pony, so I'll not ask about it.

Olga [Lifebinder] 414119

>>414113
"You-you are still alive like that! What has happened?"

Campfire 414120

>>414114
"Not strong enough, certainly."

>>414116
"Dead and gone. Our fight with the thing under the mansion went poorly. Most of the Inquisitors are permanently dead, and the same goes for the other henchponies. The survivors need your help down below. You can find the secret door in the guard room. It's to the left of the entrance after going down the stairs."

>>414117
"My lower half was taken by the shadowblighted monster chained in the basement."

>>414119
He laughs a completely humorless laugh.
"No, necromancer, I'm not."

Olga [Lifebinder] 414121

>>414120
"Then what has raised you? Why do you still have intelligence if you are undead?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414122

>>414120
"So they live still? Good. Daylight is coming, so hopefully the creature's strength will wane."
I'll stop a moment.
"And what do you mean it took your lower half, aside from the obvious?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414123

>>414120
"What happened? What did you find? Describe it."

Pomelo [Preacher] 414124

>>414120
I try to mend him if that'll help '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

Bessy [Soothsayer] 414125

>>414120
>>414124
I offer him one of my Mend potions too!

Campfire 414126

>>414121
"Inquisitor Lorik made sure I stayed somewhere between life and death and slaved my corpse to the shield control mechanism in case help came."

>>414122
"It may, I do not know. The creature had an artifact with it that let it attack us as soon as we entered the room. Within seconds most of us were forever dead or slipping towards that point. The Inquisitors were able to destroy the artifact but were forced from the room before they could do much more harm."

>>414123
"The thing down there is what was once the head Inquisitor in this city. He was able to seal and chain himself in the basement before the shadow fragment that possessed him completely consumed his soul. What you will find down there is a heavily possessed and shadowblighted monster, but his fiercest weapon has been destroyed."

>>414124
Your magic does nothing to his dead flesh.

>>414124
>>414125
"Thank you for the effort. I would have appreciated it hours earlier."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 414127

>>414126
"Thank you for the information."

"So should we proceed downwards?"

Olga [Lifebinder] 414128

>>414126
"Did you agree to it? So the Inquisitors do know Necromancy…"

Pomelo [Preacher] 414129

>>414127
"Yeah, so we can save whoever's left.."

>>414126
"I-I'm… sorry.."
Rolling to not cry '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 414130

Dreamkicker stays in the basement room with the Inquisitors.
Without having to move you cast your mind far, far back into the past. In the main hall of the of the mansion fighting and dieing creatures surround you. Sparks, magic, blood, and darkness flies through the air. as all manner of people fight against mutated ponies, bird creatures, and walking shadows. A minotaur stands tall above the others and covers them as they retreat up the stairs and into the barracks. The minotaur backs his way up the stairs while fending off enemies with a sword easily longer than your body but before he can join his subordinates something happens. Shrieks of pain and terror fill the barracks and are followed by wet crunching and snapping noises. Aerosolized blood fills the air in the room like mist as a blacker than black shadow flows out of the doorway. The minotaur's horns glow bright yellow as he lets loose a blast of magic that chars the walls, floor, and ceiling between him and the shadow, but it isn't enough. The shadow enters his body and he flees down into the basement, past cells of prisoners crying and begging for release in the vain hope of escaping the slaughter they could hear above them, and down to the lowest room of the basement. He locks the door and begins to scratch symbols into the door, walls, floor, and ceiling with his horns, now glowing a sickly burnt orange color. When the last one is done he throws down his sword and chains first his legs, then his arms into chains connected to the floor and cieling. They each flash once as they are locked by his hands. Within minutes his body has twisted. His arms have doubled in length to wield his old sword, and dozens of long and black appendages have sprouted from his back. His horns have lengthened, twisted, and split apart. A week passes and an ax as long as his sword has been grown from his bones. His sword burns darkly and bends the air around it.

>>414147
"That won't work very well. With the door open he can reach us if he really tries."

Nearly all of the basement appears to have been dedicated to prisoner containment, and this room is no different. The room, once an isolation chamber for holding or questioning the worst of criminals, is small enough to make the prisoner feel cramped but large enough to give the interogators plenty of room for themselves and their tools. Scattered around the room are small, charred lumps of flesh and smoking pieces of metal. Small symbols glow gold or dull yellow on the floors, wall, and ceiling. In the center of the room is a large creature held by two chains anchored to the floor, and two anchored to the ceiling. It stands on two legs, so tall that it must lean forwards with its back pressed against the ceiling. Its entire body is black, save for a few white points that burn like cold stars. Multiple black tentacles hang from its back and end in hooked barbs or loops to snare whatever they touch. The obsidian horns on its head are cracked and twisted and several smaller ones split off from them. Its arms have stretched at the wrist where the manacles touch them and are now between two and three times as long as they should be. In its hands it holds a long-hafted axe that is easily as long as Bessy. It raises its axe as it see you all enter.

You are lifted into the air and brough to hang over the minotaurs horns.

Unfortunately, before you can stand several barbed tentacles dig into your flesh like fishhooks and lassos time around your horns. You are hoisted into the air and hung over the monster's horns.

YOU THINK THIS HURTS ME?

The smoke in the room fades.
The tall minotaur straightens up as much as it can inside the room as the pink orb becomes streaked with black and sinks into his flesh. He is standing tall again despite the hole in his chest and swings his chipped axe.

It appears that you have somehow gained a potion of Heal.

>>415376
You fail to dodge though, but your fluff turns the blade just enough that the swing merely bruises you.

>>415371
With an upward swing of an ethereal hoof you force the axe into the air and crack it even further. It passes harmlessly over you as your third eye opens and gazes upwards.
Between here and the sky is five floors. There are three ceiling/floor lairs of stone that would have to be punched through and two of rotting wood. The stone will be troublesome to get through, but the wood will be easy.

I'll clear my throat slightly.
"I thought you might know best how to dispose of the body, or at least give him a half-decent burial for who he used to be."

Campfire 415457

>>415456
They look concerned.
"We saw that it had weakened the sigils, but we thought they would last longer than that. It is of no matter. We will burn the corpse. The person it once was is long gone now."
They grab torches and go to the holding room where they burn the corpse.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 415458

Campfire 415537

The gryphon, buffalo, and earth pony inquisitors have gathered with the party in the room where the minotaur was fought while the two surviving henchponies burn the root in the room above the chamber. Hakk speaks.
"Thank you all for returning to help us. Because of the losses we assumed in your absence we cannot afford to reward you for this. Come back in a few days and we may have additional jobs for you that would come with their own rewards. Do any of you have any questions?"

Andelia [Druid] 415538

"It is a fragment of the Shadow, the thing that came into being inside the city's temple to the Celestial Sisters when Equestria's princess Luna went mad and became Nightmare Moon. There were many fragments of the Shadow, and nearly all of them could only be killed in very specific ways. My guess based on what I have read and what I have seen is that this fragment became fused with the body it was possessing after several centuries, and thus became mortal."

>>415540
"Their bodies were consumed by the monster. The only one left is the one I slaved to the gate control, who will stay there until we receive reinforcements. I will try to remember to notify you when his body is decommissioned."

You place your hoof against the shield and it disappears a few seconds later as the gates swing open.

You all rested after the party. The beds you slept on had an enchantment to make you all feel well rested despite only sleeping for a few hours.

The party makes their way down the empty road towards the center of the city. They are currently in the residential area, but the land here is open and most houses are large ones surrounded by spacious properties. In the distance you can all see the rising towers of the city's government district. Far to your left you can all the the tall Barrier walls rising up into a permanent stormcloud.

The building is made of marble instead of the simple white stone that the others you have seen in this district are made of. The steps leading up to the building have small mosaics of coins on them.
