Crypt Quest 2 Campfire 387300[Last 50 Posts]

The party is currently gathered on the second floor of the house with the surviving henchponies. To the north is a wide hallway leading to a closed door and a passage that turns to the left. To the east is a closed and locked door. To the south is a closed door. To the west is the landing, across from which is the burnt hole in the wall and the room full of blood. The party has been in house house for what feels like hours and the ghosts inhabiting are starting to grow restless.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387309

>>387300
Well, let's open that southward door. Is it stuck, or a bit more compliant than the previous doors?

zulu 387310

>>387300
"We need to find that armory. It should be on the first floor. Nonethless…"
Try to see through the closed door to the south.

I stare at him eagerly while I wait for his glowy magic sight thing to work

Bessy [Soothsayer] 387316

I stand by and wait for DK to do his glowly see-y thingy.

Campfire 387319

>>387309
It swings open when you push on it. Inside light filters through a grimy old window and reveals a desk covered with old books and stacks of paper. Lining the walls are bookshelves and cases full of bits and bobs. At the back of the room is a small bed surrounded by a privacy curtain so badly moth eaten that it hardly even exists anymore.

>>387310
You see the same things as Brutus does, but you detect a bit a magic in a few of the things inside the cases. You also see a body behind the desk.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 387324

>>387319
"Not the armory."

Pomelo [Preacher] 387325

>>387324
"Aw.. it's gotta be around here somewhere, right?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 387327

>>387319
>>387324
"Aww… what is it then?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387328

>>387324
"Alas. Nothing useful, though?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 387330

>>387325
"Indeed. We could investigate here, but I say we ignore anything until we find that armory."

>>387327
"Another library. It looks like there's a body in there. Also some of the cases seem to be giving off magical energy."

>>387328
"…perhaps. Or it could be more ghosts."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387332

>>387330
"Then we'll come back once we've got something to fight them with. Next door, then!"
And I'll shut the south door, and head to the east one.

Attached is zulu's map.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 387339

"Yes, some sort of body."

Campfire 387340

>>387332
The door creaks loudly as you shut it. The door to the east does not budge when you try to open it.

>>387333
Dreamkicker
Behind the door you can see a small room with an even smaller amount of light coming in through blackened windows. Inside this room is an old, rotten couch sitting across from a desk with a few papers and several small books on it. On one side of the desk is a bookshelf and on the other side of it is a closed door.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387341

>>387340
"Well, this one's stuck. I'll have to knock it down."
I'll look at Dreamkicker.
"Anything worth the effort behind there?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 387342

>>387340
"It looks like some sort of sitting room. There's another door in there."

>>387341
"Doubtful, but there is another door inside."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387343

>>387342
"Well, perhaps the armory is behind there. Want to risk it?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 387344

>>387339
I frown and shiver a bit.

>>387340
>>387342
"Th- there might be something good behind it…"

Andelia [druid] 387345

>>387341
"We should be careful might be more traps like the one that tried to grab me before."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 387346

>>387343
"No. I suspect the armory is downstairs. The armory wouldn't be behind a sitting room door. It's probably just a closet."

"Let's go back downstairs."

Specifically to that cupola I went to but the others didn't.

>>387344
"We'll come back to explore later."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387347

>>387346
"They did say first or second, but we'll check downstairs first, I suppose. Lead the way."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 387348

>>387346
"What's your thinking here, egghead?"

Andelia [druid] 387349

>>387346
"What to you think lives here that has cursed this place with such traps?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 387350

>>387344
I give her a calming hug

>>387346
"Right behind you Dreamy!"
I follow

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 387351

>>387348
"There are two stories to the mansion. We have exhausted the available options on the second floor. In all likelihood, then, the armory is on the first floor."

>>387349
"Ghosts. Angry, evil-spirited ghosts."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387352

>>387351
"Not all the options. There are still those northern doors. But we might as well clear one floor at a time."

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 387353

>>387351
"Didn't this place have a basement level?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 387354

>>387352
"Good point. Nonetheless, I suspect the armory would be on the first floor."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387355

>>387354
"Then let's stop dithering about like a bunch of hens and get on with it."

Andelia [druid] 387356

>>387349
>>387351
One of the henchponies speaks.
"This used to be where the Inquisitors in this city stayed. Most of the traps here were probably their doing."

Campfire 387363

>>387358
Your magical gaze fails to penetrate the door this time, but you remember what you saw last time. Behind the door is what looks like an old guard post meant to watch the front approach to the house. Inside is a corpse with a broken sword.

>>387359
He looks at you crossly.
"I did not say they made all the traps in here. It is also possible that many of the traps have been perverted by the foul things that have taken control of this place."

>>387360
"The Inquisitors do not believe the armory would be kept in the basement. Most likely, it will be near the barracks."

>>387361
Nope. The door swings open easily. Behind it is a large room that is illuminated well by tall windows that line the walls. The floor is made of old, cracked tiles and rotted wooden benches and other wooden things rest against the wall. In the center of the room is a large pit surrounded by small, rusty spouts.

>>387362
You focus more of your magic on the spell and get a slightly clearer image. Inside the room is a dusty, empty weapon rack and a small slit for spying on the grand entry hall.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387364

Andelia [druid] 387368

>>387363

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 387370

"I wouldn't mind another dip, to be honest. Hopefully it will be less crowded, though.

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 387372

"Yeah, you'd think they would have remembered more about such a big place."

I hop up and down excitedly

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 387374

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 387376

Campfire 387377

>>387364
Nope.

He shrugs.
"Dunno. It would be a room with a lot of beds."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387442

>>387440

Campfire 387448

All of you that were still in the bathing room leave and rejoin the ones that left, then proceed up the staircase and stop at the entrance to the bloody room. From where you stand, none of you can see the source of the thump from earlier.

Andelia [druid] 387449

I consider it for a moment. "We need form any teams carefully to be as safe as possible.. "

>>387448
I'll sigh a little.
"So, who wants to go in first with me?"

Campfire 387451

The henchponies look at each of you.
"If you cowards don't want to, we can go in."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387452

>>387451
I'll give them a flat look.
"Did I ever say I wasn't going in? I just wanted to know who else wanted to be in the first group. I take it you two are volunteering, then."

Andelia [druid] 387453

>>387451
I huff at this "fine go in then."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 387454

>>387451
I huff.
"Well if you're going to be rude then you can go right ahead and go in!"

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 387455

>>387451
"Well go ahead then. Good luck with whatever eats you in there."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 387456

>>387451
"Be our guests."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387457

>>387455
"You might want to hop down, little one. I'm going there with them."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387460

>>387459
And in I go as well, giving Happyhorn the time to abandon ship if she chooses to.

Andelia [druid] 387461

I watch them

Pomelo [Preacher] 387462

Bessy [Soothsayer] 387463

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 387465

>>387460
I hunker down and stay on. Like I'm going to abandon him in there. He almost fell into the bathtub!

Bessy [Soothsayer] 387466

>>387464
I frown.
"Do you hear me you big meany? Leave Pommy alone!"

Campfire 387467

>>387460
>>387465
You two go inside. At the north end of the room you can see several crumpled bedframes stacked on top of each other against a wall. One of the henchponies looks at you and scrunches.
"Can you feel it too? Hurry up and shift those beds."

>>387462
Oh but you are talking to me, my little goat. You even wanted me to do something for those ponies in that room, didn't you?

Pomelo [Preacher] 387468

>>387467
"Fun! Not… bad fun! Fun fun. Everyone loves fu-"

>>387466
I immediately shut up

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 387469

>>387467
"Yeah…speed it up there, bronco! We can't stay here long!"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387470

>>387467
"If I can get my hooves free…"
I'll start to move again, but wince slightly.
"Does… does anyone else hear that noise?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 387471

And you stay safe in your buffalo bunker.

>>387475
One of the henchponies doesn't react in time and is missed completely by the flying beds. Three of the others try to dodge and are hit by flying beds, but don't take much damage.

>>387477
The last one, however, dives to the side and is struck a nasty blow to the side of her head. There is a loud crack as the heavy bedframe splits her head open and sends her sprawling across the floor. Her body starts to shrivel as a larger than normal amount of blood pours out.

>>387478
Too late, little goat. It seems only three of your friends were smart enough to play my game though. Oh well, live and learn. Remember our deal, Pommy.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387480

>>387479
I'll bark to one of the other inquisitors.

You don't hear much, but a pony nearly runs into carrying a body out of the room.

>>387483
You pluck the emaciated body off the pegasus's back and lay it gently on the floor. Blood pouring out of a large wound on its head.

>>387484
After the pegasus runs out of the room with the wounded pony on his back you peak into the room. You can see Brutus collide with a pile of beds while the henchponies in the room with him stand guard.

>>387485
The pegasus shouts at you.
"I tried that! Regular magic won't work, do whatever you did to fix the one that got kissed by that ghoul!"

You quickly mix up a slave and rub it into the gash on her head. The wound festers instantly, but the puss soon washes away as more blood comes out. Before long the wound has scabbed over and her body no longer looks like all the blood was sucked out of it. She opens her eyes and tries to stand up, but the pegasus stops her.

>>387488
You crash through the beds this time and into a small room. Lining the room are racks full with various weapons on them. There are more weapons scatter across the floor.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 387495

>>387494
Peek my head into the bloody room. Anything weird still going on?

They take the weapons.
"Thanks, but these don't look any better than ours."

There is no room for it to return to you because the armory is very small. However, it seems very resistant to you chewing on it.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 387524

The party and the Inquisitorial henchponies all stand inside the cramped armory with their new weapon. It took them a while to get there, but they eventually braved the bloody room and were rewarded for their heroism. With their new, magical weapons they will hopefully feel safer as they search for a way to disable the magical shield surrounding the estate and let the Inquisitors in.

Players, please state what weapons you chose from the armory.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 394058

After the two cleric henchponies regain their strength they made their way among their companions and then among the party checking for any lingering injury, possession, or taint and doing their best to remove any fatigue. To the party's left is the side of the mansion with the bloody barracks and looted armory. To the party's right is the side of the mansion with the study and the dark reception room behind a locked door. While you all rest the house is unusually silent. The frequent creeks and thumbs coming from other parts of the house have gone silent. After finishing a drink one off the henchponies screws the lid back onto his canteen and stands up.

It's foal's play. The magical spells used to guard some of the books on display at the Canterlot library are obviously based off of the spells used here. After disarming them you reconfigure the spell so that you can set who is and is not allowed to access the contents of the cases.

"Good work, all of you. Search the room for the thing that controls the shield. It will be some kind of enchanted item. It might be something symbolic like a key or an actual shield, but for all we know it could be a magic block of wood."
The henchponies spread out over the room and start examining items on the bookshelves, by the bed, on the table, andd in the cases.

Inside the chest is the pistil of a very large flower. After opening the case you are hit with an intense smell of rotting flesh. It's like a grave of fresh plague victims was just opened inside the room.

>>398467
On top of the desk are a bunch of delicate looking books, papers, and scrolls covered in an old version of the local language. Ignoring those you instead rummage through the draws. Inside them you find find books, papers, stoppered jars of ink, cobwebs, dust, mold, old coins that look like they could be valuable, and a key.

Under the bed is a ton of dust and some dead rats. Roll to not sneeze.

Suspicious? The cases are strange, and you've not yet seen a sleeping area here that has not been defiled either, so the bed might be worth checking out.

There are six cases. The one that Dreamkicker opened contains a flower pistil that smells like Death farted. The other five are closed and contain a goat's horn, a smashed banjo, a dark orange unicorn horn, a mace made of dark and gnarled wood, and a large iron helmet that looks like it might have fit a buffalo before it was crumpled like a paper cup.

You give the mace to Pomelo and the feeling instantly leaves you.
As you pick up the goats horn your eyes dart over everyone in the room. You see them not as they are, but how they could be and how to make them that way. Bessy and Pomelo are a pair of murderous tricksters serving the Changer with their every breath. Andelia is at the same time both a pony and a wolf who cares for nothing but her self and will kill anyone that gets in her way. The henchponies are all either criminals or peaceful members of the clergy of one church or another. Your vision returns to normal as you put down the horn.
After picking up the banjo you cannot help but laugh at joke you just thought up. You can see the henchponies for what they really are under their armor, symbols, and attitudes: Ponies. They live, they love, they laugh, they have hopes and dreams. The desire to keep them happy is safe while you are with them is the third most important thing in the world to you after doing the same for your friends, and your love. You place the banjo back into the case and, just before your hooves break contact, feel a pair of lips kiss you on the cheek. The sensations vanish.
The smell of smoke enters your nose as soon as you pick up the horn. The buzz of electricity is forgotten as the roar of fire fills your body. Your body grows hotter, and hotter, and hotter, until you are sure you must burning hotter than a fire, a volcano, and eventually the sun itself. The need to organize the group you are with and make them focus on the task at hoof rises the forefront of your mind as you hurry to droop the horn back in the case. The feelings leave you once again as your hoof breaks contact with the item.
The helmet looks like it would be difficult to lift, but great strength courses through your body as soon ass you touch it. You feel larger than everyone else in the room, maybe even larger than Brutus. A flex of your muscles lets you feel the thick shell of your armor covering every inch of your body. A hoof taps against your helmet as if to get your attention and you can just barely feel something shift its weight on your back. You put the helmet back and are once again yourself.

It's almost impossible to see because next to no light can get through the windows in the room. You quickly fix this with a few rags from your bag and some water from a canteen. Before long the windows are covered with smudges instead of grime and sunlight is flooding into the room. Inside the room is a wide, rotten looking couch sitting on the side of the room opposite from a desk and a sturdy looking door. On top of the desk are a few old, scattered piles of paper, jars of ink, and quills. The room is small, but there is a dusty old bookcase in here too.

>>398564
Alright.
"Thank you, mage."
A few of them leave the room while others stay to make sure you don't try to take the artifacts.

>>398565
"Because they could be broken in battle."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 398569

>>398568
Well, let's check it out, then. Carefully, since I'm probably the heaviest thing this floor has seen in a few centuries.

Pomelo [Preacher] 398570

>>398564
I nod

Then I notice Happyhorn's already checking out more stuff. Follow her!

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 398571

>>398568
Whatever. Pocket it. I'm not an egghead, and I don't pretend to be. I'll have someone else take a look at it later. Which one of those insular dummies I'm with looks the best with foreign languages?

The unicorn?

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 398572

>>398568
"Weeeeird…"

What's all that on the bookcase?

Bessy [Soothsayer] 398573

>>398567
I give a happy nod and a slute.
And follow Pommy!

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 398574

I go find Happyhorn, too.

Campfire 398575

>>398569
>>398570
You two are now in the room with Happyhorn and see what she saw. The floor creeks ominously under Brutus but it holds.

>>398571
Maybe. The henchponies are locals so they might know it.

>>398572
Very thick books bound with wood and leather.

>>398573
You follow him into the room.

>>398574
And you are now in the room too.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 398576

>>398575
"Not to spoil anyone's party, but I don't think the floor will hold all of us…"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 398577

>>398576
"Well who here is heaviest?" I stare at you.

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 398578

>>398575
Fuck 'em. Like the Inquisition would ever have given Muddy Morass the chance to reform. And he did! I mean I did. Yeah.

Sidle up to Dreamkicker at the bookcase.

"Wanna read something more interesting?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 398579

>>398576
"Well it's holding you, right big guy?"
I tap the floor with my hoof

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 398580

>>398578
"You have something for me?"

Campfire 398581

>>398579
The floor creeks again. The henchponies all gather outside the door.
"Maybe you all shouldn't linger in there."

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 398582

>>398580
"Maybe."

Lower my voice. "Wanna ditch the guards and floor that's probably about to collapse? I picked up something."

Go off and find a room no one is in.

All these books look boring. If you had to guess you'd say they were records of some boring stuff.

The writing is in an old local script. Neither of you can make heads or tails of it.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 398591

>>398592
Indecipherable gobbledygook. Looks like an old version of the local language. Maybe the henchponies can read it?

>>398593
The floor no longer sags as much. The henchponies enter and move to the door.
"It's locked."

>>398594
The books are sturdy and heavy, which is lucky because the one you pull off the shelf falls to the floor with a loud thud. Inside the book are lines and lines and lines and lines and lines and lines and lines and lines and lines and lines and lines of small, foreign text.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 398598

>>398597
"Perhaps this key opens that door as well… Be careful, though. It almost gave when unlocking this door, so the locks might be rusty enough to snap it."

The party stands in a small room with the henchponies. The floor here sags slightly, but small vines have tied the floorboards together well enough that the floor no longer groans under the party's weight. In the room is a rotten looking couch underneath the windows. There are several bookshelves filled with very thick wood-bound books. One of them has been pulled off the shelf and found to be full of very small lines of writing. There is a desk next to the door that is covered in old papers, a few books, some empty ink jars, and some old quills. To the south are windows that have been cleaned off to let more light into the room. To the west is an open doorway leading to the rest of the mansion. To the north is a closed and locked door.

"Can we still get under these?"
One of the henchponies taps at the floor with the handle of his axe.

>>404983
It looks pretty strong. You can see metal behind a few rotted parts of the door and there aren't any hinges on this side.

You straighten your goatee, brush your coat with your hooves, and give your horns a quick shine. Finally ready you poke your head out of your buffalo bunker on the back of Brutus.

>>404996
Unable to work up a glare you go for an angry squint instead. You squint so hard that it becomes nearly impossible to see and you feel like you might appear to be mocking one of the Neighponese.

>>404999
You hold the small picks with your wingers and slowly insert them into the keyhole. It is surprisingly complex for such an old lock, but you slowly make progress. However, as soon as you move the third tumblr into place pain shoots through your wingers as your lockpics glow red hot. As you jerk back your wings you manage to pull your lockpics free too.

Muddy Morass [Pegasus Charlatan] 405009

Campfire 405042

The henchponies have begun searching the desk and couch.

>>405022
You stick a small birthday candle into the keyhole and light it. It burns slowly, as party candles often do. One of the henchponies walks over to you.
"Why are you doing that?"

>>405030
Dreamkicker
You can see the key between the floor of this room and the ceiling of the kitchen and dining room. A mouse must have carried it down there.

Andelia [druid] 405045

You pull the candle out of the keyhole and stick it on top of his hat. He scowls at you and snuffs it out with a winger.
"Try not to damage the lock."
After clearing off part of the desk you take out your brewing equipment and get to work. Unfortunately, you do not have the ingredients to make strong acids, or even the knowhow. All your instructor taught you to do was to copy magical spells into potion form.

>>405054
You start tearing pillows off the couch and headbutting the stuffing out of them. You find no key, but do manage to find a few old coins instead.

>>405069
The coins look sort of like the ones you got along with that drawing of Dreamkicker. The only differences are that they look really old, and have the faces of different ponies on them. The stuffing is easy to get out of your hair.

>>405083
You light a whole bunch of candles and try to put them on his hat all at once, but find out buffalo hooves are not good for that sort of thing and drop them all on his hat. He curses and brushes them off.

The tentacle coils around your legs before you can cast you spell and pulls you into the air. Once your hooves have left the ground more tentacles grab you and hand you over the head coming out of the center part of the floor. The head snaps at you while the tentacles try to rip your legs off, but cannot reach you. You can see black ichor leaking out from the knives imbedded in its head.

>>405155
You fire and hit a tentacle right before it slaps you across the legs. The pain coming from your legs combines with the pain in your face and shoulders and you collapse. Tentacles quickly grab your legs and pull you up next to Dreamkicker and the henchpony where they start trying to tear you apart. You can see black ichor leaking out from the knives imbedded in its head.

>>405156
You shoot the same tentacles again. It lets go of the henchpony as another one replaces it and slaps you across the horns, leaving a burning feeling behind.

>>405157
>>405158
>5
You charge up a healing spell, but just before you can cast it the same tentacle hits you in the side again. The pain gets worse.

>>405160
Every time you manage to dislodge a tentacle more form and take their place. You are able o avoid being hit by any of them, somehow.

>>405161
You slam one of the tentacles with your shield. It slithers around it and pokes your leg. As soon as it does it feels like someone touched you with a brand.

>>405159
>>405159
The first henchpony is able to wiggle free of the tentacles holding her, but another is bragging and pulled into the air as soon as she gets free. The other three throw more knives at the head. It screeches louder as the knives impact and start to lash around the room wildly with its tentacles.

>>405166
The pegasus mare is unable to dodge the tentacles as they go after her again and soon she is suspended upside down in the air. The suspended earth pony stallion continues to be pulled apart. Their joints can be heard popping over the din of the battle. The other earth pony stallion throws another knife that strikes the melted head. A small fountain of ichor gushes upwards as the tentacles throw the suspended ponies, goats, etc away from the hole where they land on the ground, Helpless. All of the tentacles coming out of the hole in the floor pull backwards and form a black and pink down over the head. There is a rattling as dust and flakes of pain fall from the wall before eight sections of wood are blasting into the room. An orb so black that the surrounding light is sucked into it pops out of each hole and several pitch black tendrils pop out behind them.

The unicorn mare tends to the pegasus mare.

>>405283
Alright, I'll just dream that I'm out of here..

405285

>>405283
"Go on ahead."

Heal Andelia and wake her up.

Roll #1 3 = 3

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 405286

>>405283
Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Let's open that door.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 405287

>>405283
"C'mon Bruty! Move so we can open that door!"

Pomelo [Preacher] 405288

>>405283
>>405284
"Andy, wake up!"
Shake her awake '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 405289

>>405287
I'll just good-naturedly stick my tongue out at her as I open the door.
"Afraid we were here first, Bess."

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 405291

>>405283
Can I surreptitiously slide a few of those books into my saddlebags?
'1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

Happyhorn [Dark Hunter] 405293

>>405283
"You guys go ahead. I don't really want to touch anything else in here anymore."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 405294

>>405293
"Hunker down and stay safe then, little one."
And I'll pass my shield over my back to Happyhorn so she has a little shell. Well, a big shell, but you get the idea.

Campfire 405295

>>405284
You are back home with the Twins. They have just gotten back from school and are showing you the grades they got on their homework.

>>405285
>>405288
She's out like a light. You both fail to wake her up.

>>405286
The door swings open. Everything in the room looks bigger than normal, which is just the right size for a buffalo. Inside the room there is a large bed, larger dresser, large mirror, large armor stand (empty), large weapon rack (empty too), and all the other commodities a nice bedroom would have.

>>405291
"Stop it, unicorn. You can ask the Inquisitors if you can swap your cash reward for some books if you want to."

>>405293
"Alright."
One of the unicorns rears up and puts his front hooves on the desk so that he can get a better look at the gate while another ooks out a window. After looking for a bit the unicorn pulls the gate open with his magic. Nothing seems to change, but after a few minutes the pony looking out the window shouts.
"I can see them! Turn the shield back on!"
The unicorn quickly closes the gate with his magic.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 405297

>>405295
"You'll likely just burn them, you herd of philistines."

"What did you see?"

405298

>>405294
"Thanks big guy."
Tie up the shield to create a bunker up here.

Roll #1 4 = 4

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 405299

>>405295
Odd.
"Whose room was this, Inquisitors?"

405300

>>405295
"What's going on? And child, wake up!"

Keep trying to wake her.

It have ab ad feeling about this…

Roll #1 3 = 3

Pomelo [Preacher] 405302

>>405295
C-Can I bolster her?
Continue trying to wake her up if I can't '1d10'

"See who!?"

Roll #1 7 = 7

Andelia [druid] 405303

>>405295
such good boys, those night classes are really paying off they can read much harder books now.. Mirabelle would be proud '1d10' to see if I can realize I'm being shaken.

Roll #1 9 = 9

Bessy [Soothsayer] 405305

>>405295
I walk inside!
What's in the dresser?

Campfire 405307

>>405297
"Why would we burn our own books you horse's son?"
"I saw the Inquisitors coming. I hope they don't run into those tree-"
There is a loud crash of breaking glass from downstairs.

>>405298
You don't find anything to tie it with so you balance it over your bunker instead.

>>405299
"We aren't Inquisitors, we are their servants. Considering that this was the head Inquisitor's office I would say that that was the head Inquisitor's room."

>>405300
She won't wake up. She is smiling though.

>>405302
You bolster her.

>>405303
They each give you a hug and thank you for adopting them instead of letting them run off to face the world by themselves. You realize that you are being shaken, and that this is a dream.

>>405305
Some old clothes that look like they would fit a diamond dog if they weren't so big.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 405308

>>405307
Hmm. Wonder if he was a buffalo. I'll head inside as well, and start looking around. '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

Andelia [druid] 405309

>>405307
I blink away tears and look at Olga and Pomelo "Are we safe yet?"

Olga [Lifebinder] 405310

>>405307
"They might be being attacked!"

Turn to Dreamy.

"You, brat, can you see what';s going on?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 405312

>>405310
"Shut up, hag!"
See 'ems through the floor. What's going on down there?
'1d10+2'

Roll #1 10 + 2 = 12

Pomelo [Preacher] 405313

>>405309
"Yeah! Just as long as you keep your balance you're safe."
I give her a hug.

>>405307
"..Hey, what was that noise?"
I poke my head through the door and listen '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

Bessy [Soothsayer] 405314

>>405307
Aww
Uh…
Is there anything weird about the mirror?
I go over and do funny faces in it.

Andelia [druid] 405315

>>405313
I smile and accept your hug. "I'm just going to rest a moment."

Campfire 405317

>>405308
You head inside and spot some clothes in a dresser that immediately give you reason to doubt your theory.

>>405312
Dreamkicker
You look down through the floor and see the Inquisitors jumping through a broken window in the kitchen. You feel something tug on your vision, however, and you look towards the guard room on the first floor and through the hidden trap door. You see ghosts and corpses shuffling around in a small prison, and see other things shuffling in another level below that.
Roll.

>>405313
You can hear some things moving around downstairs.

>>405314
It's just a mirror. There are a few picture frames on the desk in front of it.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 405318

>>405317
Hmm.
"Find anything interesting Bess?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 405319

>>405317
Picture frames? Like, just frames, no pictures?

>>405318
"Nothin' yet…"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 405320

>>405319
Well, I guess I'll check the bed. Anything interesting there? '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

405321

>>405317
Look at the clothes. Does anything look good?

Roll #1 8 + 2 = 10

405322

>>405317
maybe I have enough herbs for a NR. something to get me going like ginseng.

Roll #1 9 + 2 = 11

Pomelo [Preacher] 405323

>>405319
Tap Bessy on the side
"Bessyyyy, I did ya hear all that noise downstairs?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 405325

>>405317
"Curious…"
'1d10+2'

Roll #1 3 + 2 = 5

Campfire 405326

>>405319
There are pictures in them, but they are very old. You would need to roll to make out what the pictures are of.

>>405321
Most of them are moldy or motheaten, but at the back there is a very old silk outfit that looks like it has a ceremonial purpose.

>>405322
You mix a little something up. The liquid is pale red and bubbles slightly, but you drink it anyways. After a few seconds a rush of energy hits you and carries you away as you bounce around the room like a goat kid.

>>405325
Dreamkicker
>3
You can see a level down below the second one, but as soon as you look down there you freeze. you can feel something watching you, can feel that is has been watching since you first set hoof on the mansion grounds. It has seen you watching it, and a dark, howwling laughter fills your ears. Cold hands grip around your heart as-
A henchpony slaps you across the face.
"Mage! What is it!?"

Campfire 405327

>>405326
Fucked up the tags.

Bessy [Soothsayer] 405328

>>405326
I try to make out the pictures then!
'1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

405329

>>405326
Interesting room, though…

Can I find anything these fools thought of as unholy necromancy?

Roll #1 5 = 5

Andelia [druid] 405330

>>405326
Check out the fake gate, anything special about it?

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 405331

Pomelo [Preacher] 405332

>>405326
Bite the hoof of the henchpony that slapped Dreamkicker '1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 405334

>>405326
"Something is watching us… We should get out of here, I think."

>>405332
"Save the biting for the ghosts, Pommy."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 405335

>>405323
"Huh? I didn't hear anything…"

Campfire 405336

>>405328
They are too smudged from old age to see anything in them.

>>405329
You can't read any of the language and the henchponies keep Hornbeard away from the books.

>>405330
It is lying on its back and closed. It is also slightly glowing.
"Please don't touch that. That's the magic shield control."

>>405320
Nope. Just old bedlinen and an old pillow. There are also some scratch marks on the wall at eh head of the bed.

>>405332
The henchpony pulls back his hoof and glares at you.
"You stupid goat, I was trying to help him! Looks at the mage, goat!"

>>405334
When you come back to your sense you can feel your body covered with cold sweat.
"What's watching us, mage?"

The Inquisitors walk through the door.
"Which one of you foals decided to not burn those trees down and what was that pile of ash in the other room?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 405338

>>405336
Aw…
All of them?
'1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

405339

>>405336
Can I identify the scratch marks?

Roll #1 3 + 2 = 5

Andelia [druid] 405340

>>405336
"Why is the shield control in here?"

I glare at the inquisitors. "The ashes were a monster, lots of tentacles, mean bite. And why should you kill everything you touch?"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 405341

>>405336
"Some sort of… terrible presence. I'm not sure what."

>"Which one of you foals decided to not burn those trees down and what was that pile of ash in the other room?"

"Were you unable to handle that? And it was a monster, of course. We solved that particular problem for you. You don't need to be scared of that.

"But we should leave as soon as possible. There is something watching us here, and I do not think it is friendly."

Pomelo [Preacher] 405342

>>405336
"W-Well he looks fine to me!"
I look Dreamkicker up and down
"See? Looks great!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 405343

>>405342
"Stay close to Bessy. We need to leave."

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 405345

>>405336
I suppose chastity isn't an Inquisitorial requirement.
Head over to Bessy.
>>405338
"What have you there?"

Bessy [Soothsayer] 405346

>>405345
"Pictures! They're really old though… and hard to see…"

Olga [Lifebinder] 405347

>>405336
"Burn them? Maybe if we had a force your size. Would you really want a fire spreading here, either way?"

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 405348

>>405346
Well, let's take a gander at some of those photos… '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Pomelo [Preacher] 405349

>>405343
I nod, then hop on Bessy's back

Campfire 405350

The henchponies talk to the Inquisitors in hushed voices.

>>405338
you do manage to make out a figure in one of the pictures, but all you can tell is that it is bipedal.

>>405339
They were made by something pointed, but dull.

>>405340
"This is the head Inquisitor's office, earthy. We should kill everything we touch here because it is all corrupt and evil that was left here after that Cataclysm caused by your Nightmare Moon."

>>405341
The gryphon slams his claw against the ground.
"No! No leaving. If you all want to leave early, fine. After everything you all have been through and what you have told us we are willing to let you go with full pay. However, it is almost night time and if you continue to help us your reward shall be increased."

>>405342
"If you say so, goat."

>>405347
"Burn, purge, whatever. those things are twisted and must be destroyed."

>>405348
The are old and messed up. you cannot tell what they are pictures of.

Brutus [Male Buffalo Knight] 405352

>>405350
Well, one way around that. I'll take one of the photographs out of its frame. Gently, of course. These things always open from the back, right? Right. '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 405354

>>405350
I turn to the others.
"I say we leave. This place is not right."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 405356

>>405350
Huh.
"Pommy! Can you make anything out in these photos?"
I continue looking at them!
C'mon… I gotta find out something from them!
'1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

Pomelo [Preacher] 405357

>>405356
I lean in and help her look '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

Andelia [druid] 405358

>>405350
"None of us follow that demon Night Mare Moon. You shouldn't accuse so broadly."

Campfire 405360

>>405352
You open the back, but when you try to pull the picture out you realize too late that the ink has become stuck to the glass. It rips apart as you pull it out.

>>405356
Nope. Nothin'.
"What is that a picture of, buffalo?"

>>405358
"I meant she belong to you Equestrians. I doubt a follower of her would be so foolish as to show its face in this town, much less take a job from the Inquisition."

Olga [Lifebinder] 405361

>>405350
"I wouldn't leave until we are finished cleansing this place, but as you all are right now, we need to go back for now."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 405362

>>405360
"Uh… I think a Diamond Dog? Since there's diamond dog clothes in the wardrobe… I can't make out anything else though!"

Andelia [druid] 405363

>>405360
"Good, now while you're here.. We saw some interesting weapons in the other room, would you allow us to take them?"

Pomelo [Preacher] 405365

>>405354
"I'm ready to go if you are, Dreamy"

Campfire 405366

>>405361
"If you leave now you won't be getting back in until this place is purged. We do not have the ponypower to leave somepony watching for your return."

>>405362
The diamond dog Inquisitor takes the picture from you.
"Maybe."

>>405363
"You can keep the weapons you have on you right now. If you are leaving now wait while we get you your money."

Olga [Lifebinder] 405367

>>405366
"Hmmm…"

>>405354
"You. you seemed unusually shaken just now. what did you see?"

Andelia [druid] 405368

>>405366
"Alright, and as long as Olga stays, I stay. If the others want to go to safety then that's all the better, one less friend to worry about."

Bessy [Soothsayer] 405369

>>405354
"But there's still more stuff to look at!"

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 405370

>>405367
"It was some sort of evil, laughing presence. We should not stay here. It is a death sentence."

>>405369
"Don't be daft, Bessy. There won't be anything to look at if you're dead."

Pomelo [Preacher] 405371

>>405369
"Yeah, but this place is dumb Bessy…"

Andelia [druid] 405372

>>405370
"Dreamkicker, don't worry. I'll stay and protect you as long as you're here." I say confidently.

Dreamkicker (Omniseer) 405373

>>405372
"How comforting."

Olga [Lifebinder] 405374

>>405370
"Bah. You can go if you have not the stomach."

"Inquisitors, can we not leave to recuperate and return tomorrow?"

Campfire 405375
