What do we have here?

Out in this salty sea air, some young ponies have found themselves lost. Lie in the sand they do, unconscious, far away from their warm beds, fathers and mothers.

The winds from the north play with them as a warm sun shines overhead, a little cooler than usual. This is a sea none of them have seen before, with seagrasses and weeds along the shores, a seaside forest to the south, while the winds blow against the cliff to the east, then move to the village at the north.

Look! It appears they are coming to.

330758

Where in the name of the nine titans of old am I?

330760

Wake up.

Is the sand under you so comfortable?

There is beautiful sky above you.

Wake up.

How convenient. A sign reading 'Port Seasprout' is right there near the shoreline.

However, for all your geography classes, you have never heard of such a name.

>>330763
Hmmm. Have you seen them in school before? Maybe, maybe not. Their resemblance to some schoolmates you see may just be coincidence.

>>330761
One manages to shimmer around you, bringing others to your attention.

330806

>>330800
"Maybe. I recognize your face but… it could be anypony wearing a mask. Or maybe a changeling."
I shiver

330808

>>330795
An vast expanse of blue sea dominates the west, wit he sun leaning slightly closer to the horizon. To it, you can see a few landforms, some mounds in the distance.

North, you see some buildings, namely a few houses, though it's hard to make out anything else there.

A large cliff wall is to the east, high enough that you can't see the top, at least from here, though the forest to the south seems to hide a path up, as the treetops seem to form a path.

330810

>>330806
"But I'm not a changeling. I'd know if I was a changeling."
I think for a few secoonds.
"Unless someone took my memories. I think some ponies can do that…"

>>330808
"Oh hey, there's a town over there!"
I gather my stuff and start running for the town.

330816

330835

>>330826
You run pretty well for your size.

>>330822
>>330816
>>330810

You all make it to the village

It appears to be a port of some kind, with large docks of ships, and sailor ponies wandering about, resting. The houses seem primarily made of brick, with dried palm leaves leaning walls and roofs for comfort and warmth. You can see crates of seaweed being packed onto a ship, while ponies, completely drench, arrive from further North with more.

Upon your reaching, a mare sees you and cries out.

"A-amber? Pumpkin? Is that you all?"

She rushes out to you, hugging all of you to the ground.

330837

>>330828
With the party.

I guess you were following everyone quietly.

330840

>>330835
Oh god no my name is not Amber! Shut up and stick with the others.

330841

>>330835
Back off.

She could be planning on hurting me.

"Please."

I try to get away.
"No?"

>>330840
>>330841
>>330844

She stares at all of you, eyes twitching.

"But that-"

"Oh. I'm sorry. I thought you were my kids. They've been missing all week, and their journey is supposed to begin tomorrow, if not in a few days."

She sinks into the ground, dejected.

330847

>>330846
I slowly approach this strange pony.

"Why? What happened to Amber?" I asked her with wide eyes.

330848

>>330846
"Oh."
I look at the ground sadly.
"Where do you think they went?"

330850

>>330848
"Who is she?" I look at one of my companion.

"What is… your name?"

330851

>>330846
I sit down
"That sounds like a story."

330852

>>330846
"I am sorry to disappoint, ma'am. What happened? Maybe we could help?"

330853

>>330847
>>330848
"I-I don't know. Maybe they went into the forest, but we told them never to go there. Just, oh sun, please let them be safe…."

The wind itself blows over her, and it looks like she could topple over at any moment. She looks away, and shivers a bit.

330856

>>330853
I support her.
"please, um…"
think
"…panic won't help now?"

330858

>>330850
"Swirl, what's yous?"

>>330853
"We could find them. After all, I'm a magician!"

330859

>>330853
"What's in this forest?"

330861

>>330856
Just to make sure, by supporting I mean help her stand right.
Not fall over.

330862

>>330856
>>330858
"Oh, goodness. It's so nice of you to offer, but shouldn't you go home to your parents? Please, don't worry them! I-I could take you to your houses if you're lost."

She backs up a little, inviting you all into the village to be led by her.

330863

>>330858
A magician! Just like in my animes!
>>330853
"A… Forest?"
That's how epic quests always start!
>>330862
"…. R- right! But we are not from around here…"

330866

>>330862
I look at the others.
"I guess we're a bit lost. Uh, which part of Equestria are we in?"
>>330858
"Hey, I'm a magician too! Some day I will become a wizard!"

330867

>>330859
"Haven't your parents told you? There are a lot of monsters there, though we go in with a group of fighters every now and then to harvest the medicine. That's where we get one of the ingredients for seaweed stew, you know?"

>>330861
"Oh, goodness, you're so kind."

She seems to relax a little.

>>330863
"Y-you're not? Did you come with one of the sailors, then?"

>>330871
I look down.
"Same as me."

330873

>>330869
"I can do it!"

330875

>>330867
"Going into the forest would be against our best interests then. Monsters equal danger."
I pause
"On the other hoof… how old are your kids?"

330876

>>330867
"We all woke up on a beach."

330877

>>330869

Well.
You've suddenly felt a surge of confidence in trying to help this poor mare calm down.

>>330870
>>330871
>>330872
"Woke up? On the beach? Then.. wherever could you be from?"

330879

>>330877
"I asked what part of Equestria we are on?"

330882

>>330877
"We from the town of…um…it might have been a city…"
I look at the others.
"Where are we from?"

330884

>>330873
Slightly bow my head and grow a contempt smile, hanging it still for a few moment.
Then go back to normal.
That was so cool.
>>330877
"I just don't know what this place is…"

330885

>>330875
I look at her.
"I'm eleven…"

>>330877
I then look at her, breathing deep then say…
"I came from… Fillydelphia. A city of sort, east of Canterlot."

330886

>>330879
>>330882
>>330885

"E-Equestria? Canterlot? Fillydephia?"

She looks confused.

"Maybe.. you all washed up on a beach from somewhere, but I've never heard of such a thing. Maybe you'd liek for me to bring you to my house? Heavens know, you're all needing food and shelter right now. Like my kids…"

She looks down and away, again.

330888

>>330884
"huh?"
>>330886
"I suppose it would be good. You don't happen to have a map?"
I walk near the mare in case she breaks down again.

330889

>>330886
"O-okay please, calm down… We can help you find them, right? Maybe they just ran from home because… uh… They wanted adventures?"

330895

>>330886
"Food would be great, and then you can show us a map and we can find your kids."
I laugh excitedly.
"We're going to be heroes like the ones in the stories!"

330898

>>330886
I give her a quizzical look then smile a bit.
"Wha.. what?! Where are we then? Please tell me."

I then sit down.
"I want to go home…"

330901

>>330889
"They were supposed to have their adventure soon! Well, maybe you children haven't heard of it, but here.. we send our kids out in the world to discover it for themselves before they come back. They write letters to us, and it's worth everything we save up to support them, you know? Ever since my first kid was born, my husband and I were saving up whatever we could so all of them would be able to adventure together.. but, now they're-"

She leans on you before righting herself.

>>330889
>>330895
"It's so kind of you, but.. well, please, no. I don't want anyone else to get hurt…"

She leads you to what seems to be her house.

330910

>>330901
I nod.
"Well, we have something somewhat similar where I come from… What do you call this, well, everything?"
I wave my hoof over the beach and the forest.
"just Island?"

330911

>>330901
The moment she opens a door, a stallion, upon seeing the party, leaps forward from the chair he was in. Only when the mare shakes her head does he again sit back down, head in hooves.

It's a modest home, though with a few things you've never seen. With the standard comforts, including a large rug, comfy couch and shelf, the odd sphere with a hinge, attached to an antenna seems to be the only thing you've never seen before.

330913

>>330911
"What's that ball thing?"

330915

>>330901
>>330911
I followed her and the others, my mind wandering around as to what will happen to me next.

With that I sit in a corner and keep quiet.

330919

>>330910
"You're all in Port Seasprout, on, well, Seasprout Island. I guess you all could try the seaweed while you're here."

>>330913
"Oh, it's um.. we send letters through it. You know, just put in a letter, press a button with the right location code and a magic flame delivers it? Used to love these when i was young! Um, honey?"

The stallion is banging on the floor, suppressing a few sobs.

330922

>>330919
I run up to him.
"Don't worry sir, we'll find your kids! I'm a magician!"

330923

>>330919
"What were your kids called, if you don't mind me asking?"

330925

>>330919
"Um, honey, please, these children are lost too…"

>>330922
The stallion lies still for a while, but continues to cry, even as he tries to hide it.

The mare, realising the futility, decides to send out the party.

"Right, um.. why don't you kids go look around or something? Just, make sure to come back for dinner, alright?"

After shooing you all out, she closes the door behind all of you.

330926

>>330923
You remember a "Amber" and "Pumpkin".

330927

>>330919
I look around wildly.
>>330925
"Was it something I said?"

330928

>>330925
I sighed then look at the others.
"What are we going to do now?"

330929

>>330925
>>330928
"We're going to the forest, come on!" I start running towards the forest.

330930

>>330929
What a wild streak of adventure you have there.

330931

>>330927
"I think… I think we should find a clue as to where we are, uh? Let's go…"
Try to pull her away from the couple.
>>330929
"NO! It's dangerous! We are going to the library to learn where we are!"
>>330925
LIBRARY! Is there a library at all?

330932

>>330928
"It would appear that, while dangerous, helping that mare is the best course of action."

330933

>>330931
Among the repairshops, houses, shops and warehouses you see? Nope.

330934

>>330931
"But her kids are in danger!"

330936

>>330933
A town hall of sorts? A school?
>>330934
"But look at us! There is a bunch of kids here too! Don't you think the grown ups have already done all they can to find them?"

330937

>>330936
Not from here. Maybe they're further into town.

330938

>>330936
>>330931
I look at them with a slight frown.
"I dont feel like adventuring, its dangerous."

"Just like what… she said, we must find a person of authority and know more details…."

330939

>>330934
"I agree that we should try to find them, but first we must know where we're going."
>>330937
Let's go further in the town.

330942

>>330937
Further into town it is.
>>330939
"It's been a week! If they were anywhere near this town they'd have found them already."

330943

>>330936
"Psh, grownups always mess things up. Let's go!"

330945

>>330939
>>330942
I followed the party.

330950

>>330938
>>330939
>>330942
As you move further into town, you see more of Seasprout Port. Hawkers peddle their variant of the local seaweed to you while the raw part is carried around from processing house to warehouse, and vice versa.

The town hall itself is not a particularly impressive building, it is a house of the same size as any other. It is closed, with a poster depicting some missing foals, and you definitely recognise the names on the poster, if not for how much you resemble them.

A party of ponies seem to be moving out of town, towards the beach you came from.

330951

>>330950
I run over to the group of ponies.
"Are you looking for the missing foals?"

330954

>>330950
Stick close to the rest of the party.
"Y-you should not bother strangers!"

330956

>>330950
I approach the poster and look at the drawn picture, do they look familiar?

330958

>>330956
One of them looks kind of like you. That's probably why that mare mistook you all for her children.

>>330951
"OH HEY! WE FOUND TH-oh. Yeah, we are. It's been a week and we've yet to find them, and the only place we haven't thoroughly searched is the seagrove. Look, I know it sounds dumb, but… could you help us? Just make sure you stay close to us at all times, alright?"

A stallion speaks for the rest of his rather small group.

330959

>>330958
Too many ponies.
Can I voice my concerns?

Roll #0 3 = 3

330960

>>330959
Nope. Shut up.

330961

>>330958
"Would you be willing to help us in return? We find ourselves in a less than pleasurable situation."

330965

>>330959
>>330960
"Um. Look, I'm sorry but we're desperate for help now. We're not giving up, Hearth Home and Wave Breeze need their kids back. Please.. you got to help us!"

He pleads, even bending down in prostration.

330966

>>330960
>>330959
>>330961
"Hey, this one looks like me." I poke the others and show them the poster.

330967

>>330965
Oh god no what is he doing?
Just nod and be done with it! Clench my eyes shut and nod vigorously!

330968

>>330961
"Of course. We'll help you out too if you help us. We all have to stick together, don't we? We can leave when you kids are ready. And remember, stick close!"

The day has taken on a markedly more orange tint as the sun lowers.

330972

>>330968

>>330972

>>330967
"Oh, heavens, thank you! We'll just be heading off to the southern groves now, south of the beach! Mind the tree roots!"

You all begin to head there, taking a path avoiding Hearth Home's house.

330990

>>330989
"Alright then." I smile a bit then follow.

330991

"It is. We just head south straight, and… look!"

You're there already, to a forest of odd roots, adapted for the salt water, blooming orange as the sun's last rays slowly fade.
