Meanwhile, Apple Bloom wants you to help her build her latest attempt to help Applejack around the farm.
Delaying your decision you decided to finish your shopping after class, Brynn tagging along to help you decide. He was pretty bro about it, paying for half the repair kit for Scootaloo's scooter, and paying for a pair of gifts to be giftwrapped.
In the end you got gifts squared away for everyone, even Brynn and Miss Cheerilee.
All that's left is the party.
And of course, the big decision afterward.

You scramble about your room and gather the gifts, wedging all the boxes and wrapped objects in very carefully.
The saddlebags bulge and take on a blocky appearance, but it'll hold.
You eat a quick breakfast, trying to contain your nervous energy as your mother hands you a plate of pancakes with multicolored sprinkles inside.
You douse them in syrup as your father takes a seat next to you, your mother putting a bowl of hot oats in front of him before giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.
"So, you think anymore about what we talked about, champ?" He asks you softly.
You think back to the conversation you had with your father last night, while you were wrapping gifts.
You told him you were nervous. You like the girls, all of them, but they're starting to act a little weird and your chest beats harder when they're around now.
He laughed, loud and for quite some time. When he finally calmed down and wiped the tears from his eyes, he grabbed you and ruffled your mane roughly, leaving you a little confused.
"My little Puff is growin up, huh? Little filly slayer like his old man, even."
He told you it was natural for these things to happen, you're growing older, getting past that stage of thinking girls have cooties or whatever.
"You're still kids though, so don't stress too much about any of that. Just pick the one that you like to make the happiest, who also makes you happy when you're together. At your age I think that's all you need to worry about."
"But I like all of them, and want to make them all happy!"
"What, you don't want one of them to be your special somepony?"
The question made your cheeks burn, and you struggled to decide if you could really pick one. What does being someone's special somepony even mean?
He only laughed again, saying as he left you to your wrapping, "Don't think so hard about it. You're still a kid, you've got a while before you have to worry about that. Just pick the one you want to spend the most time with. Anything that follows will follow."

Everyone smiles and nods. Nobody is quite able to meet her level of enthusiasm, but you can tell that they're all pleased to have such friends to share the spirit of the season with.
Despite this, you're all reluctant to talk too much about the gift giving. Nobody wants to accidentally give away what they got for each other, so they're very tight lipped.
As a result you're almost relieved when Miss Cheerilee gets the rest of the day's lessons started up, breaking the awkward silence and half conversations in your group.
And then the time for the class gift exchange before the party is upon you, Miss Cheerilee numbering the gifts and putting slips of the same numbers in a hat. She wanders the rows of the class, allowing the students to pull a mystery slip of their choice from the hat.
Only a handful of classmates didn't participate, and they wear a sad expression as they gently nudge a pencil or eraser across their desk.
Eventually it's your turn to pull a slip from the hat.
First five rolls of 1d5. Total is the number you draw.

It's the latest edition of a series titled, "The Bearers of Harmony: Chaos in Canterlot!"

You look around and see others getting some similar gifts. The filly next to you got a bouncy ball that she happily plays with, trying hard not to let it bounce off her desk. Brynn seems to have gotten a party buzzer. Scootaloo got a box of chocolate. Sweetie Belle got a…calculator. Apple Bloom got a box of crayons.
Regardless of the quality of some of the gifts, everyone is thankful for the sentiment.
With that out of the way, everyone moves the desks to the edge of the room, setting their little prizes on their desk or in their bags, and Miss Cheerilee reveals a large bag of cookies from Sugarcube Corner. She briefly leaves the room and returns with a punch bowl filled with hot cider.
With everything set up on the table the presents once sat on, Miss Cheerilee pulls a small radio from under her desk. With the press of a button, holiday songs begin to play softly into the room as she organizes some games to play.
Board games are brought out for those who'd prefer to sit, while others play pin the wreath on the pony. A few ponies just dance in the middle of the room, swaying back and forth or bouncing excitedly, just having fun.
Miss Cheerilee largely supervises, just making sure nobody steps on a board game piece or anything like that.
As the party begins to kick off, you wonder what you should do first.

"I wonder what it could be," she says playfully as she finally uncovers the pen and pencil holder.
She gives a small gasp and pulls it out of the box, holding it up to her face as she slowly spins it for inspection.
She has a huge grin on her face.
"It's very pretty, Puff," she says softly, almost to the point you can't hear her, "And it even has three daisies on it! Just like my cutie mark!"
She looks across the table at your gently blushing face.
"Did….did you get this made for me?"

It's a little rough getting started up, your legs still feel a bit wooden.
With a little encouragement from Sweetie though, you're soon moving those little legs real quick, dancing left to right and back, crossing legs back and forth while spinning….It's fairly impressive.

The gifts are arranged by size, and yours lies in the back. It's the biggest box by a decent margin.
"From Sweetie Belle," Apple Bloom reads before opening the package eagerly.
It's a sweater! It's red and green in horizontal stripes, made from rather comfortable looking wool.
Apple Bloom immediately puts it on, much to Sweetie's approval.
She goes through each gift similarly. Brynn got her a series of what appear to be Engineering books. She assures Brynn she'll read them later.
Scootaloo's gift is a hard helmet.
"For some of the bigger projects around the farm. Gotta keep your noggin safe, right?"
And finally, your gift. The erector set.
Apple Bloom looks at the back of the box, reading the weight capacity and everything. She has a big smile on her face when she pushes the box out of the way so she can see you.
"Thanks a lot, Puff! Makes making that design I was telling you about a bit easier with all the stuff in here!" she gets up, walking to the end of the semicircular booth where you sit, and gives you a big hug.
She ends up giving everyone a hug, even Brynn, thanking each and every pony for the gifts.
"Now how the hay am I gonna get this all back to the farm?" she jokes, leading everyone to laugh with her.

You put the goggles on. They fit pretty snugly, and Scootaloo shows you how to adjust the strap on the back a little.
"They're pretty much one size fits pony, but they have some leeway. At least that's what the vendor said."
With a small tug they loosen up a bit, hitting maximum comfort. Your peripherals are blocked just a little, and everything is tinted slightly blue, but they're comfy and seem to protect your eyes real well. Hopefully they'll hold up to getting used a lot in the future.
"Thanks, Scoots! Can't wait to try them out," you tell her, earning a big, heart warming smile as her little wings flap energetically.

You unwrap a small box, then open the box to reveal….a hat like the one he and Scootaloo now both wear. It's not lumpy, and appears slightly smaller than the ones they wear.
It looks cozy, the inside made of some rather soft feeling wool.

You put the goggles on. They fit pretty snugly, and Scootaloo shows you how to adjust the strap on the back a little.
"They're pretty much one size fits pony, but they have some leeway. At least that's what the vendor said."
With a small tug they loosen up a bit, hitting maximum comfort. Your peripherals are blocked just a little, and everything is tinted slightly blue, but they're comfy and seem to protect your eyes real well. Hopefully they'll hold up to getting used a lot in the future.
"Thanks, Scoots! Can't wait to try them out," you tell her, earning a big, heart warming smile as her little wings flap energetically.

"A chest?" she asks, staring at it for a moment.
"Well, open it," Apple Bloom says, waving a hoof at her.
Sweetie very slowly opens the chest.
Her eyes widen before the top is even all the way open, and her jaw drops open.
"Well, what is it?" Scootaloo asks, growing tired of Sweetie's unusual silence.
"It's….it's…..beautiful!"
She holds the chest delicately as her expression of shock turns to joy, then turns to show it to Apple Bloom first, then Scootaloo. Apple Bloom gives a low whistle and Scootaloo's eyes get wide as saucers.
They seem impressed.
Not nearly as much as Sweetie though. She just sets the chest down on the table, quietly closes the top, and carefully changes positions with Brynn, who was sitting beside you.
When she finally gets to sitting right next to you, she just reaches out with her front hooves, and puts them around you gently. She puts her head on your shoulder and rubs your neck affectionately, making your heartbeat skyrocket as she says, "It's exactly what I wanted, but even better!"
Minutes pass with her just rubbing her head against your neck, her eyes closed and a look of pure gratefulness encapsulated in her gentle smile.
Somehow, this is better than having her bounce around the room. It is quiet, focused, intense appreciation.
It only stops when Scootaloo makes a gagging noise and even Apple Bloom coughs, snapping Sweetie out of her affectionate reverie.
She blushes profusely and quickly swaps seats with Brynn again, unable to resist looking at the brush again when she's back in front of it. She opens and closes the chest repeatedly, like she's reenacting the feeling of first seeing it over and over again.

The three of you set off to the boutique, and you're surprised to find it decorated rather festively for the holidays. Wreath on the door, a few lights on the windows and roof, the inside has a nice place mat and some holly trim. Simple but nice.

You take a deep breath, trying to calm yourself down despite the rising temperature of your face and the neverending thumping in your chest.
You feel like your heart is gonna jump right out your throat, but you finally get up the guts to ask what you've been wanting to ask Sweetie for some time now.
"S-Sweetie….will you….will you be my..s-special somepony?"
Sweetie's little hooves are around you and her cheek on your shoulder in an instant, a thousand quick "Yes!"s streaming from her as she bounces up and down while gripping you to her.
Rarity puts a hoof to her mouth, and you think you see tears welling in her eyes.
"Isn't that just….adorable! Little Sweetie and her sweetie…Puff." She wipes the tears from her eyes as she chuckles, "Waha, Sweetie Puff. Oh that's just too cute."
She steps forward with the long scarf, "Alright you little special someponies, come here and be still for a moment Sweetie!"
Sweetie manages to stop her bouncing, though she seems glued to you for the time being.
Rarity gently wraps the scarf around your neck, then wraps the other end gently around Sweetie's, effectively tying the two of you together with a scarf in Sweetie Belle's color scheme.
"How fitting," she comments, looking down at her younger sister and her special somepony, a certain somepony who put great effort into making Sweetie Belle feel loved.
"Now then, how about we head out for our dinner. I promise I'll try not to gush over the two of you all the time we're out together."
Rarity puts on a winter hat, stepping toward the door and holding it open for the two of you.
Sweetie stops bouncing long enough to stand next to you, her side firmly pressed against yours, as she reaches out and holds your right hoof in her left.
Of course, you can't really walk like that, so she has to let go as you head out the door. But the whole time the three of you are at dinner, You and Sweetie share a scarf that stretches between the two of you and hold hooves under the table edge.

You take a deep breath, trying to calm yourself down despite the rising temperature of your face and the neverending thumping in your chest.
You feel like your heart is gonna jump right out your throat, but you finally get up the guts to ask what you've been wanting to ask Sweetie for some time now.
"S-Sweetie….will you….will you be my..s-special somepony?"
Sweetie's little hooves are around you and her cheek on your shoulder in an instant, a thousand quick "Yes!"s streaming from her as she bounces up and down while gripping you to her.
Rarity puts a hoof to her mouth, and you think you see tears welling in her eyes.
"Isn't that just….adorable! Little Sweetie and her sweetie…Puff." She wipes the tears from her eyes as she chuckles, "Waha, Sweetie Puff. Oh that's just too cute."
She steps forward with the long scarf, "Alright you little special someponies, come here and be still for a moment Sweetie!"
Sweetie manages to stop her bouncing, though she seems glued to you for the time being.
Rarity gently wraps the scarf around your neck, then wraps the other end gently around Sweetie's, effectively tying the two of you together with a scarf in Sweetie Belle's color scheme.
"How fitting," she comments, looking down at her younger sister and her special somepony, a certain somepony who put great effort into making Sweetie Belle feel loved.
"Now then, how about we head out for our dinner. I promise I'll try not to gush over the two of you all the time we're out together."
Rarity puts on a winter hat, stepping toward the door and holding it open for the two of you.
Sweetie stops bouncing long enough to stand next to you, her side firmly pressed against yours, as she reaches out and holds your right hoof in her left.
Of course, you can't really walk like that, so she has to let go as you head out the door. But the whole time the three of you are at dinner, You and Sweetie share a scarf that stretches between the two of you and hold hooves under the table edge.

Well I have 2 brothers who both went to Lackland for their Airforce BMT. They told be if they could give any advice it's that you should pretty much expect to be hungry and yelled at all the time, and to always go to church on sunday because it's just a nice break from the Bunks and MTIs. So good luck with that.
