The end of time has begun.
Let our heroes gather to face their final fate.
I'll just wait until DM says everyone else but me is in the Library so I can burst in a door
Enough for a start. The others will catch up.
Gaius, your call. I will play out your meeting with Luna first if you want, otherwise, I start at the library
The party has gathered at the library, only Radiant seems to be missing.
With them there are Starswirls the Timewarden, the crystal covered Starswirls the Endless and Twilight Sparkle, Canterlot's supreme archmage.
Well if nobody is going to say anything
"Friends, well met. It is wonderful to see you all again."
I burst in from main door, with my Wings of Light on my back, but my head somewhat low.
I stand in a place where I face everyone, and start to talk to them.
"Everyone, I want you to listen to me now!
I have to be the bearer of terrible news…
I wish I didn't need to say these words. I wish I could do something to make everything all right.
In all honesty, I would kill every single on of you here to prevent what happened if I could.
I wish I could figth fate…
But I can't…"
I take a deep breath and sigh, then continue in a sad voice.
"Princess Celestia… She is no more. She has ascended, became one with the Sun, to rest Her weary soul.
In Her final moments, she named me Her heir, and gave me the task to continue Her legacy."
My tone changes from sad to a stern, determined one.
I stands as stall as I can, holding my head high.
"Along with Celestia, the Paladin you knew is gone as well.
From here on, I, Radiant Isabella Goldentail Dawn, Am the Avatar of the Sun, and leader of Equestria!
You need not to bow before me, as I will never be as regal or perfect as Celestia was, but you WILL follow my commands!
Celestia trusted me with this task, and I shall not fail!
We face a final task, harder than ever.
I will lead you to battle, and you will follow!"
I look at Aenoi, then at everyone else in the room with a grave look.
"In a shameful display, the Preacher Aether Node attacked me.I have spared his life, and gave him a chance to redeem himself.
If any of you betrays me once again, the punishent will be far more severe than any fate you could imagine!
But remain loyal and stand true, and you will be graced with everything the Sun can offer!"
I makes the Sun shine brighter for a moment, and so shines my armor as well.
"I AM THE SUN! MY FOES SHALL BE SMITTEN DOWN WITH MY FIERY RAGE AND MY ALLIES WILL BE CARESSED BY THE GENTLE SERENITY OF MY WARMTH!"
As I look over everyone again, it seems that the very the fire of the star is burning in my eyes.
"I ORDER every single one of you who wishes to fight to preserve Life to swear an Oath of Loyalty under the Sun, now!"
"Do you trust us so little that you will makes us swear oaths to you? Do all the fights we have been through mean nothing to you?"
The supreme archmage leaps up with speed belying her age. Though her face is worn and eyes deep set, you can see shock and rage deep within her.
"YOU WH- THE PRIN- WHAT!?"
She takes a step at you
"And why did the princess leave again? I'm sorry, but this really doesn't seem like the time to go on vacation."
At Radiant's speech, Gaius's face goes through an expression of shock, then he bows and closes his eyes. When she finishes, he turns up and glares at her.
"This is a sad day. While I have the utmost respect for Celestia and will respect her choice of successor, I find myself unable to swear an oath of service under demand. I will gladly fight alongside you to preserve the kingdom, but such loyalty must be earned, not forced."
"YOU are no leader of mine. Celestia would not simply abandon us like that. No. I think there is more at work here.
I have served under her whole life. I was the closest of all her students. The best. The most faithful."
She charges up her horn
"WHO ARE YOU TO CLAIM ANY RIGHT TO HER CROWN?"
>raise my shield and get between Radiant the the Archmage
"I've done enough in-fighting for everyone here. If the two of you want to lay waste to each other then do it on the battlefield and take a few of our enemies with you"
"As you wish. I'm keeping an eye on both of you. I'm not doing this for pleasure, I'm doing it to preserve Life and Time!"
"You just shut up now before I do something we will both regret."
"YOU DARE CALL ME A LIAR? She gave this crown to me as a gift for my services under her!
I served under her, fought, bled, and almost died for her on so many occasions I can't even keep track of it, I have sacrificed my time, my body, LOVE, MY WHOLE LIFE FOR HER, AND YOU DARE SAY I'M NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR HER?"
Even the sun starts to heat up more with my rage.
"WHO ARE YOU TO OPPOSE ME?"
Both Starswirls' get up
>"I'm surprised at you. After so many years you still act like a child"
"We have all lost a great deal this day"
>"But we stand to lost EVERYTHING if we do not stop fighting among ourselves and work together!"
Twilight stands down and hangs her head for a moment
"I… I'm sorry. This is just.. shocking news to me."
She looks at Radiant
"Does anything remain of her? If so, could I please see it? She was my mentor my whole life. I wish to pay some final respects in peace once we are done here"
After I hear her name and her regret, I calm down too, and show her the urn.
"Her ashes are in this urn. I don't know where could we find the best place to put her to final rest…"
I try to step closer and put my hoof on her shoulder.
"I spent my whole life doing nothing but believing in her and following her. I know how you feel."
She hisses something under her breath
"May I please have that urn? I have lived in Canterlot for a long time, and know where we could have it enshrined."
Starswils the Endless clears his throat
>"This is all very touching, but more important things are at hand here. We can mourn the dead once this is over. For now we truly stand to lose everything, past present and future if we do not focus on the task at hand. If you are ready, I can explain."
"You don't have to hiss like a snake at me, I had my fair share with ponies like that before.
I wish you no ill and I'm sorry if you feel hurt because of her decision. If you loved her as much as me, I want to be in good terms with you."
I give her the urn.
"I trust you will chose the best place for it."
After that, I turn to Starswirl.
"Explain the situation."
Starswirls conjures up an image in the center of the library of a mountain covered in crystals
>"As you should by now understand, time itself is in peril. I was taken by surprise as my fortress outside time was assaulted by an unknown enemy and I was taken captive. My captors had many prisoners aside from me, and used them to experiment with. These crystals you see on me, and probably many others, are condensed time given shape. They are the bastard child of my research of time."
The image changes, showing that looks like a white dragon with pale, translucent wings, no eyes, and large fleshy growths all over his body
>"And this is the one to blame. The dragon Distortion. He has amassed a collection of knowledge to rival my own, and with the help of his followers has devised magic unlike any I have ever seen or wielded."
The image changes again, showing what you recognize as beyonders
>"He even knows of the Ritual of Summoning, and indeed seeks to bring Beyonders to this world. And not just one or two. He has spoken of 'a great exodus' that would bring this world to it's knees"
The image changes one more time, showing a massive crystal construct, not unlike a very stylized hourglass
>"And this is the focus of his research. I do not know the purpose of this device, but it is shattering time as we speak. In a few hours it will reach a critical point of power, at which time I fear it will, indeed, destroy time."
The image vanishes
>"I and a few others fled from his prisons. I sent them back in time to seek you out, but I fear they were all lost to Distortion's assassins and spies. Now only I remain. With time in such a state of chaos, I can no longer use my time magic reliably, but I can help as 'merely' the most powerful mage in history.
What else would you like to know?"
"How has he enlisted the aid of Beyonders? If the destruction of all time is his goal, what could they possibly stand to gain from it?"
"If they are ammasing forces, then so shall we. I am now the Commander of the forces of Equestria. How many soldiers do we have in our Royal army?"
>"He is a mighty beast indeed, and somehow has managed to influence the minds of Beyonders. I do not know how. I saw one talking with him. A hideous beast clad in a cape, shorts and fedora. He was wielding a curved blade and addressed himself as Schtzch'tho.
>"I do hope so. I and myself will need to get close to it to attempt anything though"
>"His world needed him. And sending beyonders through time can be very dangerous, as they do not work the same way ponies do"
>"I suggest asking General Marker at the guard headquarters"
>"Only the ones on my body. I can break off some, but they are my flesh now, so taking many can kill me"
"I will. Who is this Distortion to begin with? Is he a pony corrupted by Tirek's magic as well? Where did he come from, and why does he seek to destroy time itself?"
>"I do not know his true goals or motivations. His mutations seemed genetic rather than magical, bur did carry characteristics often associated with the Power of Darkness. A mystery indeed. Perhaps the child of a mutated dragon? A corrupted egg?"
"A corrupted egg?"
After a minute or so of pondering, my eyes light up.
"Do we know who was the mother? Was it any of the dragons who were involved in the defeat of Ironhide? Many dragons were burned by his twisted breath!"
>"There is little time for such. If my assumptions are correct, we have until midnight today before time becomes too unstable to fix. The crystals can allow one to imitate my power to travel outside time to an extent, but with the low supply we have on hand, we cannot rely on them for long."
>"I am still capable of giving some. Perhaps two or three for each of you."
The other Starswirls speaks up
"And even if he falls, I will still remain. We share most knowledge, and have agreed that I will go on even if he does die."
"Do you still have enough power that we may go back in time to kill him while he is an egg? That would prevent all this, wouldn't it?
And maybe… Mabye I could…"
Her voice falters a bit, but then she continues.
"Nevermind. Can you send us back to prevent this?"
"You need them more than I do right now, and if there are other creatures with the crystals I can always harvest them instead.
So what's the plan for this?"
>"All we CAN do is rally up what forces we can and assault Distortion's citadel head on. I and myself must reach that crystal device in person."
>"With time bending and buckling like this, attempting to travel through it could have catastrophic consequences. As long as that crystal device exists, I dare not even think of attempting such a feat."
"It won't be that easy then. We must hurry, we need all the help we can get. Buffalo, Griffins, Diamond Dogs, Dragons, every sentient creature that might help us."
"A frontal assault seems ill-advised, especially after your breakout. Are there alternative entrances we could use?"
"You think of times long since past, friends"
>"It has been over two hundred years since. The alliances between races have become thin and faded. Dragons no longer swear alliance to any, and griffons are rarely even seen. The few remaining buffalo live far away."
>"The entire fortress is shielded from magic so teleportation is not an option. We might be able to get in via the mines though. I assume they are connected to the labs"
>"Canterlot's guards and Equestria's combined armed forces, under the command of Captain Prince Shining Armour and General Marker."
"Is it just us ponies then? Some help from dragons could have been really useful in times like this, especially when facing another Dragon. It could be like Ironhide, all over again."
>"I fear this will be their first target anyway. Beyonders are very fond of ponies, and Distortion will inevitably point them towards the largest population centers."
>"With no ambassador to unite us, finding, let alone enlisting dragons seems like an impossible feat"
"I suggest we go through those mines, provided one of you can guide us. If the last alliances have truly decayed, they royal will likely be wiped out in a prolonged siege."
"So it seems we'll have to either defend Canterlot to the last, or lose Canterlot and kill Distortion..
Those are some nice choices"
"I guess that's tru-Wait! Dragons live for centuries, right? We had a Dragon Ambadassor back in our time!"
"You go on and kill him. I will face the forces of whatever darkness he may throw at us. Me and the army defendind Canterlot can buy you enough time to finish the job wherever that object is."
"Unless I'm completely misunderstanding things it doesn't matter what happens to Canterlot here. If we can stabilize time Starswirl should be able to send us back so we can kill Distortion before he ever becomes a threat."
"Ah yes, Ambassador Noise."
>"Noise? I don't think she's been seen in ages. She left Canterlot quite some time ago"
>"I can allow no such thing. I brought you here along with the rest because I needed the best strike force possible. All of you have stared down horrors that threatened to destroy all of Equestria, and won. I need you at my side when the time comes to face Distortion."
Twilight speaks up
"I request to stay behind and coordinate the defense of the city with Princess Luna. We know the modern defense systems better anyway."
"I won't abandon Her city. She trusted me to defend all Life. I've seen you in battle, you are powerful enough without me. I MUST be here to defend Canterlot…"
You stay and defend. In that case, I'll make sure that all who defy the Sun's might shall die at my hooves."
EVERYTHING is going to die if we dont kill Distorsion, use your brain for once and you are not Celestia you are better.
I smack Dawn's face with my Light-wing.
"Nothing and Nopony will ever be better than Her! And I already said I'm coming with you!"
"The Canterlot Defense Navigation Center - CaDeNCe - was a creation of my brother's. He implemented it to allow for easy coordination of the artillery systems, mass communication array and teledepolyment portals. He said he based most of it on old notes written by a past captain by the name of Dusklight.
You should go alert General Marker. She is posted at the Guard Headquarters right now, so you can find her easily. I will go discuss the situation with Princess Luna. Anyone wishing to meet her is free to join me."
"He is rather one of a kind, yes. I reme-"
>"Not now Twilight. Time is a commodity none of us can afford to waste"
"They are made of the gentle rays of the Sun of a warm summer afternoon as you sit by a tree and-We don't have time for this!"
"Thank you, Archmage Twilight. The Sun be with you."
I'll head to the General.
Strike Dawn's head again, but with my hoof this time.
"You are my sister but that doesn't mean you are allowed to speak of Heresy!"
"If it is not too much trouble, do you mind if I join you? I…wish to ask for her blessing."
"Come then. She sleeps in her chamber, but just this once, I am sure it will be ok to wake her."
The rest of you head to the guard HQ
Luna is indeed sleeping. After Twilight explains the situation her guards let you in and she nudges the princess of the night awake
"WHAT IS IT THAT- Oh, Twilight. What do you need of me?"
At the guard HQ, two heavyweight unicorns block your path
"No civilians allowed"
I grab her and pull her closer, our muzzles barely inches away, and began to growl at her.
"You speak of her in that tone once more in my presence and I don't care who you are to me I'm going to fucking crush you, understood? UNDERSTOOD?"
I let her go, and storm off.
Still angry at my Sisters stupidity, I speak a little more loud than I intend to.
"I don't need to answer to you, guard. Step aside!"
I take a few steps back from Dawn and make sure I'm not standing between her and Radiant.
"Truly no lady, this one."
"Ain't that the trust"
"Oh, archmage Starswirls."
"Didn't see you back there"
"Ever so sorry, sir"
"Please, come in."
There is a sleepy pony at the reception desk
The receptionist falls over in her chair, then gets up and dusts off
"How can I help you?"
"The general is on the third floor. Fifth door on the left, past the lifeboats. You can't miss it."
"Was there something you wanted to tell me?"
Twilight begins to explain, and Luna nods understandingly.
"Very well. Ours shall be the task of holding this city then. I will come and aid you… as soon as I get some more sleep. Was there anything else you needed?"
"My apologies princess. I am Gaius Blackmane, one of those brought here by Starswirls the Endless to save the time. In the past I was a wandering knight devoted to your service."
My voice wavers a little.
"I never thought I would be favored with your presence. I swear to do my utmost to protect the night, day, and all in the land who face this disaster."
"It seems our leader is taking her new position and the situation a little too… rash. If at all possible, and if you have some spare time, can you talk to her and ease, at least, some the pain she holds?"
You find a door labeled "My Little Pony General" with a small plaque under it reading "Marker"
You can hear two ponies inside, most likely Marker and Shining Armour.
"Hm, I like you. Please. Stay for a while so we may talk once the others are done with their business."
Twilight turns to leave
"I have nothing more I need. I simply came to inform you, Princess. I will head to CaDeNCe next, once our other guest is done here as well"
"Ah yes the paladin, Radiant. My sister always spoke so highly of her. It was rare indeed to see her as happy as she was when she heard the paladin was back from the dead. It was almost unnerving."
Stand tall and speak proud.
"I am Radiant Dawn, and from here on, you serve under my command. Is that clear enough?"
"I should warn you, though, as after she visited you earlier. I made the unwise move in fighting her. It will have very well made an impact on her demeanor as of late, but I did it not knowing the situation at hand.. At the time.
That is all I have to say, Thank you Princess. I take my leave."
You and Twilight leave for a secret chamber within the castle, Gaius stays behind
"Now then, good sir knight, tell me more of yourself. It is rare indeed to meet followers of the night"
"Starsw- SIR! Why are you hiding back there like that. It's ok Shining, they're legit."
Shining armour steps out from behind the door and lowers his greatsword
"Oh good. I was already getting worked up."
Both the general and the captain look at you
"And by what right, other than cosplay, do you claim such status?"
"The Right that Celestia gave me before she died! Now show proper respect!"
I make the Sun flare up for a moment.
"The night has felt like home to me for as long as I can remember. As you can imagine, the reverence of either royal sister was rare in the Griffon Kingdoms, especially towards yourself. But I was taken in by both the beauty and tranquility offered by a clear night sky, and I felt I had little choice but to honor you however I could once I learned the truth."
I look down
"I was greatly saddened to learn of your tragic fall, and even more so when scores of your devoted clergy followed you down that dark path. I couldn't believe that you truly wanted such madness." I look back up at her, a slight look of desperation in my eyes. "You didn't, did you?"
Both look shocked for a moment
"C-Celestia is dead"
Starswirls steps up
>"She is dead, and soon so will all ponies. We need your armies and guards to assault Diamondtop. I would explain in greater detail, but you both should know I am not one for telling lies."
The two look at one another and nod
"Yes. We understand. We will go gather what forces we can."
General Marker then turns to the party
"Perhaps you'd like to see what we have prepared?"
She smiles, though awkwardly
"What happened in the past should remain there. Those dark times will forever taint a fragment of my soul, even though I never wish to revisit them. However, that is my burden to bear. Such darkness should never be allowed to harm the hearts of others."
"Knight… haha, Thank you but that is too great a title for me. I'm a cleric who has taken to shouting inspiration from afar. I saw ease in healing others, and took to learning as much about a healer's duties as I could. Eventually I came across a motion for 'combat medics' in Canterlot! You should've seen me, I ran as hard and fast as I could to sign up.. Weaving through the field with a shield raised high felt so natural. As did returning the wounded and battered to their top form. With good reason I would heal anyone.
But that was when things were controlled, all demonstrations to get medics ready for anything. Then I was put together with this group, ahahand I was completely caught off guard.
What about you? It's nice to meet a follower of Celestia who has some control about her, NO OFFENSE to that. I've just been around a more zealous type of follower"
"Yes, I apologize for forcing you to revisit it. We face such dark times now, and dwelling on past mistakes would only cloud our judgement at this juncture." I bow to her again.
"Please, accept the oath I swore to you so long ago. I will do everything in my power to make sure such blackness never clouds the hearts of the innocent ever again, through past and future."
She takes you to a lot where several ponies are working on what looks like a heavily armoured wagon.
Marker whistles and calls out
"HOW IS IT COMING ALONG?"
After a while a greasy pony rolls out from under the wagon and replies "FUCK YOU" then goes back to work.
Marker turns to you
"Don't mind Eyesack. He's a brilliant engineer, but short tempered. Anyway, this is the 'Tank', based on a design created by one of the Wonderbolts. Powered by an engine similar to our trains, armoured to withstand impacts up to and including head on collision with a buffalo and armed with a modified Party Cannon designed to fire explosive payloads, it is the absolute bleeding edge of equestrian military technology."
Meanwhile, Twilight opens up a secret door in the throne room and steps inside.
"Then… perhaps. No. I could not ask for such. No…"
"I was selected as Celestia's student at a very young age, and remained as such to this day. I wielded the Element of Magic in the past, facing Nightmare Moon and the draconequus Discord, but laid such duties aside and focused on my studies of magic. Later, I became the supreme archmage of Canterlot.
Now, I must commune with CaDeNCe, if you don't mind"
"Please. Your sister has passed on, and her replacement still thinks as a zealous crusader instead of the custodian of daylight. She needs your wisdom and experience to guide her down the same path Celestia once led us all on."
"I've devoted my entire life to your name, making sure you were remembered as you should be. The opportunity to finally serve you personally is all that I ask."
As you step inside, you see lots of mirrors, levers, crystals and runes set up in arrays around the small room. It seems to be operated with magic. You can hear soft humming and a faint heartbeat.
>HeLlO tWiLy. It HaS bEeN a LoNg TiMe. HoW hAvE yOu BeEn? HoW iS YoUr BrOtHeR?
"Activate the primary and secondary defense formations. Load the artillery batteries and open all communication nodes. We will soon be at war."
>UnDeRsToOd. YoU mIgHt WaNt To LaY oFf ThE mIdNiGhT sNaCkS fOr A wHiLe, By ThE wAy.
Parts of the panels whir to life. You can see images of large artillery cannons loading, and several voices chime in at once, asking for orders
Marker points around
"The Canterlot Defense Artillery Guns are being loaded as we speak. They have enough range to blow apart most foes before they can reach the city walls. We also have enough infantry here to match nearly any standing army in the world, as well as the elite city guard. We should do just fine."
"Then, with endless fear in my heart, I grant you permission to take from me the tainted fragment that has poisoned my thoughts for over a thousand years. Please your claw upon me when you feel ready."
"How many forces do you need here to safely keep Canterlot? How many do we have to spare to come with us?"
"Not much. Just the armoury and some ordnance."
"I can send any amount you need anywhere you need them. The Royal Guards will stay behind, as always"
"You should ask Supreme Archmage Twilight Sparkle. She is in charge of the mass teleportation teams."
"Indeed. I have no idea how my brother managed it. Now excuse me a moment. Ahem.
THIS IS SUPREME ARCHMAGE TWILIGHT SPARKLE. ALL UNITS. THIS IS NOT A DRILL OR HAMMER OR ANY OTHER FORM OF TOOL. WE ARE AT WAR. PREPARE AT YOUR STATIONS AND AWAIT ORDERS FROM GENERAL MARKER. OVER AND OUT.
Ok, I think that was all. We can leave now."
I am taken aback by this statement.
"You would trust me with such a burden? If you truly think that I have the strength of will to contain such evil, I will relieve you of it if that is your desire, my princess."
Gingerly I reach out and touch her on the chest.
"I don't know how many we will need. We only know that our foes will be many, and that they will be extremely dangerous."
For a moment, nothing happens. Then Luna breathes out heavily.
You feel a momentary convulsion, and accidentally cut the princess with your claw.
It felt good cutting the princess.
If only you had drawn blood too.
Felt the warm liquid pour out as flesh was torn asunder.
Watched the lifeblood run dry and the heart stop.
Oh the thought of it all is intoxicating. Almost orgasmic.
You snap out of it. Luna looks scared.
"Oh why thank you. Perhaps we should head back to the library and wait for the others now? Or was there something else you needed?"
"It's the catacombs all over again. We sneak in while most of their forces are stuck in the meatgrinder."
I gasp and draw back, switching my gaze between the claw and Luna.
"Princess! I didn't mean…are you okay?"
"Just.. surprised is all. My heart has not felt so light and pure in over a millennium. It is… such a FREEING feeling.
…what of you?"
"I…don't know. I feel conflicted…part of me is overjoyed to see you free again, yet I wish to feel your blood on my talons and feast on your still-beating heart…" I shudder.
"It is difficult to separate them. Did you always feel this way?"
>smile and raise an eyebrow
"It's ok Archmage. Come we must make haste to the library!"
"At times. At other times I wanted nothing more than to cast my sister down a cliff and take the throne of this world for myself alone. At times I simply wanted to crash the moon into Canterlot itself and watch all life slowly die away."
"Bu- bu- but I…
…are you sure?"
"Such atrocities…and yet I feel like I could accomplish them. I would -revel- in it even."
"Such blackness. It will be difficult to ignore…but maybe I can use it. Our enemies would do far worse to us without such reservations."
"So how does this work… exactly?"
"Focus that power into a weapon you are confident with wielding. Use it to destroy your foes without mercy. But never forget who are foes, and who are friends.
Now, if you need nothing else, you may go."
While waiting, I just sit on my flanks and stare at the Sun.
I try to figure out what powers Celestia gave me, apart from moving and controlling it.
Sometimes I mutter something about her to myself.
"Yes…it would only be the right thing to do to them. I will strive to keep this monster contained as you have, milady. My thanks again for your blessing."
I bow again, and turn to leave the room for the library.
"…the right thing…"
You realize that as you now draw power from yourself, you can never fail when praying.
You also feel tireless and fearless, at least now that it is daytime.
Starswirls and Starswirls are getting impatient.
"Is everypone here?"
>"I think we're still missing someone. And Twilight too."
"Maybe you could finally start to show some respect to the new leader of this whole fucking country! How about that, huh? I am under enough pressure without your fucking stupidity already!"
Twilight and Aenoi arrive
>"Good. We are all here."
"Do we have a plan then? Head on assault? Look for the mines?"
I whisper in Dawn's ear.
"I pity whatever stallion she eventually takes to bed. If her normal speaking voice is any indication of the noise she'll make in the bedroom then she'll cause that poor pony to go deaf."
"I vote for the mines. I don't want to fight any more of those Beyonders than I have to."
"We have a number of soldiers for a frontal attack, why our strike team will infiltrate throught the mines. It will be just like the Catacombs, but this time, we kill everything inside. I won't fall for the same trick again."
>"Then it is settled. We will head for the mi-"
Sirens blare up all over the castle
"WaRnInG. mAsSiVe CoNcEnTrAtIoNs Of EnEmY fOrCeS aPpRoAcHiNg."
>"Already!? No… HEROES! WE MUST GET TO THE MAGE ACADEMY. NOW!"
As you exit the palace, you can hear the horrible voices of the Beyonders ringing in the distance. They are not far away.
Indeed, judging by the rate the artillery is being fired, they are almost upon you.
You begin the trip to the Mage Academy, where the Mass Teleport team awaits.
Before you can get far though, a Beyonder leaps over the castle walls, rebounds off a tower and lands before you. It has sparse hair on it's bloated face, and is wearing only dark underwear. It roars
Roll for initiative.
Rolled 7 = 7
The Beyonder nimbly rolls under your clumsy blows
And grabs both of you, each with one pudgy arm.
The smell is overwhelming. But the ear scratches are really nice. It is warm here. And soft. And nice. Yes. You could stay like this forever.
You are both helpless.
You evade his grasp though
Rolling to remove Helplessness by either breaking free or stabing him with my horn.
Rolled 8 = 8
You break loose, but smell of armpits.
The beyonder frowns.
Your hammer strikes the fat head hard. You hear some squishing, but the skull is thick and the brain is small. Your blow hurt, but was not enough to kill.
You break free as well
The beyonder stands up, visibly mad
You buckle one leg with your attack, forcing it down on one knee.
However you simply cannot bite into the greasy hide, and simply slip off.
The beyonder leaps into a mighty fleshy cannonball attack.
Roll to not end up under it's ass.
I won't waste that other Fervor round
Take flight on my Lightwings to evade, then Power Attack the head again when he's on the ground again!!
Rolled 6 = 6
You get up and fly into a perfect position to strike. Your next attack will surely land.
Nope. Nothing. You end up under the mighty ass.
You smell like shit from beyond this world, and are rendered utterly helpless by the massive weight.
You cannot break loose on your own.
You hear parts of the neck crack. The Beyonder takes a swing at you but misses.
Propelled by a gassy blast, the beyonder launches into the air and grabs you. It spins in mid air, does a flip and lands, piledriving you into Aenoi as he struggles for fresh air.
You are now BOTH helpless.
It pulls out some aviator shades from its underpants and puts them on.
In the confusion, you leap out and plant your blade between the fat folds in his neck. You hear it squeal in agony as it falls over, momentarily helpless.
As it lies on the ground you start pummeling it. A few more good hits should kill it now.
Your spell goes horribly out of control, but the Torch Staff absorbs the raging flame, saving many houses from burning down.
However you, seem to have alerted the Beyonders.
Still clutching ponies, they stand up and face you.
Well now you just smell like normal ass instead of alien death ass
As you rush for the Academy, you see two more beyonders on the front door. One of the guards is dead. The other is being quickly hugged to death.
The three from earlier are slowly following you as well.
I shout as hard as I can.
"EVERPONY IN CANTERLOT! CLOSE YOUR EYES!"
I try to make the Sun shine so hard it blinds the beyonders!
Rolled 4 = 4
Some of the beyonder squint their eyes. Others just sort of ignore it. One puts on a baseball cap.
It singes his hairy legs and the beyonder hops around for a while.
As all five turn to take you on, you hear a familiar voice from behind.
"ENGINEER EYESACK, DRIVE US CLOSER! I WANT TO HIT THEM WITH MY SWORD!"
One of the beyonders behind you explodes into a gory mess as the Tank roll in from a side road and opens fire.
Four Beyonders remain.
After a bit of clawing and wrestling, the beyonder releases the guard, who slumps down and tries to crawl away. The Beyonder then leaps at you.
Roll to dodge.
Another beyonder punches the Tank. However the massive iron machine ignores such petty damage with little more than a dent.
Cast Aura of Protection of everyone that is near, party members and others ponies as well.
"THE FAITHFUL SHALL BE PROTECTED BY THE SUN!"
Rolled 10 = 10
You appear right in the arms of a beyonder. His hug is soft. His smell is foul.
You are helpless.
It grabs you and throws you to the side with an angry snarl
You burn off his monobrow, but fail to do anything worse.
Every pony held by beyonders nearby breaks loose as they are protected by your near divine power.
No player can be rendered helpless for the next 3 turns.
Your blow lands well and true. The arm is rendered useless, and it can no longer hug.
However it can still attack.
Radiant aura remove my helpless state? If she did backstab the beyonder if not Roll for scape artist.
Rolled 1 = 1
You miss, and the beyonder lands a massive missile drop kick that misses you by inches thanks to your invisibility.
I continue to attack, gutting him with the sword while I claw and peck at his face.
Rolled 2 = 2
Apply poison to dagger and stab the beyonder that just try to missile kick me
Rolled 9 = 9
Your heart burns with a mighty fire as your body accepts it's new shape. You have become the Lord of Cinders.
You plant your blade in the Beyonder, but it does nothing, simply getting stuck in the fat. You are disarmed.
The beyonder meets your hammer with a fist, discharging the blast into thin air.
It grabs you by the wings, spins you around and throws you into >>13956
Aenoi, knocking him out of focus. However you are both protected from harm.
The beyonder shrieks as poison flows into it. It will die in a few turns time.
The Tank has repositioned itself, and fires again, destroying the Beyonder that was attacking it.
"divine wrath.. DIVine wrATH. OH GODS HELP ME DIVINE WRATH!"
>focus to use divine wrath
Rolled 5 = 5
Use the hammer to swipe the legs out of under the beyonder.
They don't look too stable.
Rolled 7 = 7
At last, some proper damage is done. You hit the one-armed Beyonder, frying his other arm into bacon strips.
You pull the knife out, but your buck misses, doing nothing more than giving the beyonder a good look at your mare bits.
You plant your blades into it, and it reels heavily, ready to be knocked helpless.
It grabs the spear, forces it into the ground and laughs as you pole fault over it.
You manage to manifest a weak but still very notable blast, knocking the heavily wounded Beyonder helpless.
It was already down, so instead you strike it, bringing it near death.
You ignite his head, and he runs around flailing for a while before dying.
One more Beyonder lives.
"..oh come on!"
>get to the back and use inspire
"YOU CAN DO THIS, IT'S ONLY ONE LEFT!"
Rolled 6 = 6
The Beyonders are no more.
General Marker pops out of the Tank
"Looks like that was all of them. Good j-"
One more Beyonder lands from high above. His cape billows mightily in the wind. A massive peacock feather adorns his fedora. He has images of ponies on his shirt and toe-socks under his knee-high sandals. His cargo shorts and utility belt jingle lightly as the come to a rest. His fingerless gloves squeak as he grasps his katana.
"Like hell you will!" yells Marker as the Tank fires another shot.
However the Beyonder Lord simply punches the cannonball, shattering into tiny pieces. It then leaps in front of the tank and cuts it in half with a simple vertical slice, killing everyone inside.
>roll to inspire
"YOU HAVE NO PLACE IN THIS WORLD, AND YOU WILL DIE KNOWING SO!"
Rolled 2 = 2
I charge up my Sun Pendant, leap up, and try to disarm him with a swing of my Hammer.
Rolled 8 = 8
You scurry out of sight and out of mind
He is consumed in fire, but soon strides out of it, burnt but standing, chanting to himself
>This world now belong to the Bronies. Submit to our love and tolerance
You think you may have lost your mind. You could actually UNDERSTAND what a Beyonder said.
You slam the katana out of his hand. It falls onto the street, and the blade sinks into the stones until only the hilt remains visible.
"I WILL DESTROY YOU! I'LL PURGE YOUR TAINT FROM THE CITY OF CELESTIA, NOW!"
Rolled 9 = 9
I attack from above, sinking my spear into his skull.
Rolled 8 = 8
With blinding speed the Beyonder Lord spins around and lands a mighty snap kick. You are flung back through a window into a building.
Inside, you find some ponies huddled in a corner, terrified.
You stare into the eyes of madness. You are rendered helpless by the visions of pockmarked faces and pillowy mounds of greasy lovehandles.
Your Fireball explodes with remarkable force, sending him reeling. His cape is on fire too.
Your blast connects, sending the hulking thing flying.
It lands with a mighty belly flop, but then hops back up.
It pulls out a crystal flask and removes the cap. From the smell of it you guess it contains piss.
"Stay there, we got this under control."
I apply poison to my dagger and slip into stealth
Rolled 9 = 9
Your spear sinks into his skull, but he seems unfazed. He lifts the flask to his mouth and drinks deep.
In a blast of power you are all thrown back.
The Beyonder Lord now pulses with energy.
You burn the hand, but are too late to stop him drinking.
The hand is rendered useless tough.
You manage to stealth.
You are still haunted by the visions, but your head is clearing up.
The beyonder lord tumbles and retrieves his sword.
"YOUR MADNESS ENDS! AND I'LL END YOU! YOU WON'T STAIN THESE STREETS ANY LONGER!"
Think of the death of Celestia, and convert that sorrow into rage.
Bring down all my might on him.
Rolled 2 = 2
You..is wea..I ca..gi…you…wer to…it…
I grit my beak in defiance and slam into the corpulent beast with Fervor.
Rolled 9 = 9
While the others made it out of the way, Radiant is caught in the blade's path. The Sunlight Medallion flashes once more, protecting from the blow, but the unearthly blade cuts regardless, shattering the medallion.
Radiant is still alive though.
Your inspiration keeps on coming. Though not as powerful as last time, you keep a streak going. +2 to all rolls (total +4 if aimed at the beyonder lord)
You dodge masterfully and swiftly poison your blade. You are poised for a perfect strike.
Disorientated by the spinning, the Beyonder Lord stops for a moment to catch it's breath.
I stare agape at the shattered medallion, as a tear rolls down my cheek.
Power Strike him, lunge at him with blind rage.
The Sun is set ablaze and burns down on everything in my fury.
Rolled 10 = 10
See? She is…..worth….she ca…i…mercy…now!
I howl in rage and tear strips of greasy, hairy flesh freely from its body.
Rolled 4 = 4
You are on a roll.
+3 to all rolls next round.
Your massive barrage forces him to stagger heavily. The only thing that keeps him standing any more is the energy he drew from the fowl drink he had.
He is on the verge of helplessness and death. Do try not to crit miss.
"Will you PLEASE fucking die already!"
Finish him with a dagger to the face
Rolled 5 = 5
With a deep groan the Beyonder Lord falls over and stops moving. At long last it is dead.
The path into the Mage Academy is open. Starswirls and Starswirls are already inside.
I jump over to the shattered remains of my amulet, and start to try to fit it together with teary eyes.
"No, no this did not happen, please, this did not happen!"
"Someone who knows their way around a blade needs to grab that thing's sword."
I enter the academy; taking care so as to not burn anything.
"There's a couple of ponies huddling up inside that building I acquainted my face with. Just saying."
Panting, I turn away from the body and glare at Radiant.
"Compose yourself. We can ill afford to lose you at this juncture. If you lose faith over such a bauble, then all is already lost."
Best be careful. It can cut through anything but it's own scabbard.
Critical misses could cost you more than a pretty eye.
As you enter the Mage Academy, you cannot see the two time mages anywhere.
You can hear some soft sighs from the upper floor though.
The blade cuts your words short. All you manage to say is "I do".
But you can have it if you want.
You find the two. They are getting belly rubs from two of the most corpulent, foul bloated beyonders you have ever seen. Their hide is slick with hair, oil and sweat. Their limbs excrete a foul orange paste. Their teeth are dark and rotting, their eyes beady and bloodshot.
Yet those look like the comfiest bellyrubs you have ever seen.
You smack them both. They are starting to look very annoyed.
You pierce one of it's eyes. It hugs Starswirls heavily, tucks him under one arm and gets up.
Roll to avoid retaliation.
+1 to all rolls against it since it is half blind.
You tick off the other one as well.
Roll for initiative.
The Dire Beyonder falls onto you. You are smooshed under players of blubber.
It then continues rolling like a fleshy boulder, chasing you around the room
The half blind one lumbers over and grabs you. If you cannot break free you will be poisoned.
You strike arm, freeing Starswirls the Endless. He seems helpless.
Their eyes do not react, but you soon need to turn tail and start running as the rolling one approaches
You fail to manifest enough force, and instead get crushed by the rolling beyonder.
Rolling to break free. I'm still in my Avatar of Flame form, shouldn't he be taking damage?
I need to go for about 10 or 15 minutes. Someone pilot me until I get back.
Rolled 3 + 1 = 4
Cast an Aura of Protection on everyone!
"Fear not! They stand no chance against the Sun's protective barrier!"
Rolled 9 = 9
I break off a sliver of Starswirl's crystals and use it in my attack on the one grappling Campfire.
Rolled 7 = 7
He is. He does not care, for he is too fat
You almost break loose. You get to try again before being poisoned.
You avoid the rolling beyonder and poison your blade
You struggle up but a rather sad heaving noise is not much of a motivator.
Your aura protects the party
Which is damn good since the beyonder punches Dawn, sending her crashing into a nearby wall. Had the aura not been there, her wing would have been broken.
The rolling beyonder stops and lays still for a bit, trying to get reorientated. It is helpless.
As you step outside time, you can pinpoint a weak spot on the beyonder. It drops Campfire as you strike with impossible accuracy.
Huzzah, you are free!
You can't find a throat. Only layers upon layers of chins.
She feels a bit better, but not any healthier.
Your hammer sinks deep into the beyonder, passing its layers of cushiony defenses, shattering bones deep within.
A quick succession of stabs later, the beyonder is leaking blood and fat everywhere. It will die soon enough, and should pose no further threat.
The grease on his back ignites, along with his hair, giving the corpulent horror a fiery mane that slowly eats its flesh away.
You feel your wounds repair as the protective aura fades.
Delicious. Soft and moist. So good. SO MUCH BLOOD. PUS. GORE. FEED. FEEEEEEED.
A valiant inspiration
+1 to rolls
Your dagger disappears between the asscheeks.
You can retrieve it if you want.
Your strike rebounds from the cushiony flesh without leaving more than a bruise. Blunt weapons seem ineffective unless you hit very hard.
I vanish and attack the brony Campfire is burning and use my crown.
Rolled 10 + 2 = 12
The rest of the body is engulfed in flame. It smells like a barbeque.
Still going strong. +2 to all rolls.
The skull cracks with a disgusting splutter.
The Beyonder falls down, but is still alive, if helpless.
I carefully reach out and try to get a hold of my dagger, careful not to get myself covered in shit too much
Rolled 3 = 3
I scream and keep eviscerating the fat mass under me. I bash my head into it to drown out the noise.
Rolled 6 + 2 = 8
"Snap out it! We need to get going!"
I turn to the Griffon after that.
"Gaius, what was that? It was more than simple rage, like you were bloodthirsty. Don't let this go to your head."
Rolled 9 = 9
>bash them with my shield
"HEY! get up we still have some things to finish here!"
Rolled 9 = 9
I turn, panting.
"Yes…can't let it get to me…we have enough to worry about as is."
"What do we do next, old men? We need you to get us to the fortress and through the mines."
The mages stand up
>"We must not wait any longer. Too much time has been lost."
You head to the top floor where the mass teleport team awaits. As you arrive, you see them all huddled in a corner. Menacing them is the most massive beyonder you could ever imagine. Dwarfing even the past two in sheer volume, it seems to be little more than a sentient sack of offal and lard. It turns to face you, its colossal mass shaking the entire structure.
>"WE DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR THIS. TIMEWARDEN. LET US FLEX OUR OLD HORNS ONCE AGAIN"
"SO BE IT!"
The two charge around the Beyonder Overlard, firing off precise bolts of magic into key points, forcing the heaving mass to wobble and quiver. Soon you see a pattern emerge. The entire mass of flesh is resonating. Those pinpoint shots are causing it to break apart from the inside.
As the Overlard heaves itself around to try and crush the mages, they leap onto it and cast a freezing spell, hardening the semi-liquid mass they stand upon. They then hop off and with great straining focus, lift the ridiculous mass into the air and with a nod, drop it, shattering it into thousands of gory pieces.
The head rolls to one of their feet and hisses
Starswirls the Endless crushes it with a stomp
He then turns to the party.
>"We are ready. We cannot teleport all the way, but we can get very close. However, be warned. With time and reality as broken as it is now, we might have complications on arrival. If we get separated, look for the mine entrance and regroup there.
Are you ready?"
You can see the mountain ahead. However, the mines must be on another side.
You appear in what seems to be the ruins of a castle. How curious. The teleport must have been very unstable.
You can feel you are being watched.
You appear in utter darkness. You can see nothing.
But you know you are not alone.
You can see the mine entrance not too far away. However, the others seem to be missing.
You are in an empty field. The sun in shining above. You cannot see the mountain.
"It's ok Radiant. You don't need to do this alone."
That voice… it can't be…
As you turn to make sure, it indeed is. Celestia is besides you, smiling sincerely.
There is a small village next to the mountain. Nobody seems to be outdoors though.
The voice is inside your head
>Of course you do.
You can hear some movement.
Nope, nopone here. None at all. Nada.
You find a nice spot. Curiously enough, it has a somewhat familiar symbol on a nearby stone.
It is wooden houses with hay roofs. Really quiet too.
But obviously not abandoned as all the houses are well kept.
"I am sure we both know what you want, so instead I will ask why. You waste not only my time with this, but all of eternity's with this."
Speak with wide eyes and a quivering voice.
I jump to hug her, and let tears of joy flow on my face.
"This was a test of yours, wasn't it? I was so afraid I lost you! I-, I can't go on without you! Please don't leave me ever again! Please! I'll do anything, just don't leave ever again!"
>This is not a question of what I want. I am you. All that matters is what you want. And we both know you want power. Blood. Glory. Might. Victory.
"I'm sorry to have scared you so, my dear Radiant. I would say 'gotcha', but even I feel bad for what I did. However you did prove you could handle the responsibilities of a leader on your own, even when faced with great loss. Now allow me to ease your burden a bit. I will retake control of the sun, so you can focus on the task at hand."
You remember now. This is the symbol of the Lifebinders. An order of arcane practitioners who were said to wield true mastery over life and death.
Maybe this was once a stash or tomb of some kind.
She points in a direction "That guy over there typed me in here".
You look that way. You see the DM. He is writing this text. You realize you are a character in MLPGDND.
You can now see beyond the 4th wall, read the posts of other players in character, see their rolls and use info from the meta thread as you please.
You see a family of very frightened ponies
"AAAAH! FIRE DEMON!"
>look towards the cave, peering into the darkness inside
"damn, I hope they get here soon"
As you sit back down you press a hidden switch and open a secret passage into another, smaller cave.
"I know well what I want. And what I want is to see the world free of monsters like you. I may not be the princess, but my faith in her is strong."
"And if you insist that we are one and the same, that I am the monster here, know well that once this is over, neither of us will see a living soul ever again."
"Your Highness, this was very cruel of you… I never felt sorrow like this ever before…"
I cuddle my muzzle at her, and enjoy her warmth.
"I'm ashamed for asking this, but couldn't I just keep it until we destroyed this evil? I will give it right back to you, I promise, but I am so much more powerful with the Sun… It's like I carry your very essence in my heart and soul… I need it to protect your realm! Please, Your Majesty? Wouldn't be that a fair price for this prank of yours? Just for this day, until I finished to purge the lands!"
I continue to hug her.
This indeed is some sort of archive or tomb. Possibly both.
As you head deeper you see remarkable artifacts line the walls.
At the bottom, on a pedestal, lies a tome that pulses with great power.
Guarding it is a tiny, thing filly.
"Please do not take any of these items." it says.
>Stop fooling yourself. Give in. Accept the inevitable. Revel in the moments you still have left.
"Oh hey, cool trick. The mountain is weird. Probably highly magical too. We also think a dragon might live up there. But ours is just a simple village, we just wish big scary things would leave us alone."
"Nope. But I think the DM will do it later if you play along"
You are now aware that there are two pairs of eyes looking at you from a shadow.
"Radiant, my love, without the sun to carry, I am weak and mortal. As much as I would wish to repay you for my actions, I cannot give up my duties for so long, lest I risk my little prank becoming reality."
"Well if everyone here is safe I'll keep going."
I leave the town and continue going around to reach the back of it.
>Were you so quick to forget us?
>And I thought we meant something to you
Cloak and Dagger step out of their chosen shadows.
>What's the matter
>You look like you've seen ghosts
"No. I have an obligation to fulfill. I refuse to give in to distractions, be they your whispers of temptation or indulgent fantasies."
I get up and open my eyes
"Sit and watch, blackness. You have no power to do otherwise, so I suggest you enjoy it."
"I-I'm s-sorry! I'm sorry my Princess! I didn't know that! I can still fight under your command, and my faith in you will still make me a thousand times stronger than anything that I might face! I would never risk your life with my selfishness!"
After a moment of thinking, speak again.
"Uh, Princess? How exactly do I give the Sun back to you? I'm afraid I don't know how to…"
The twins look at eachother, then back at you
>What has gotten into you, Dawn?
>Have you turned on us?
>Just come back with us
>We have no need to stay here
>Let us go back to a better time
>And be happy
As you get up, you bump your head on something. You shuffle around a bit and realize you were just under a pile of sticks all along. The cave is right there, and so is Campfire.
"No. You are a sad excuse of a weakling who could not even beat a child like me in battle."
"Simply close your eyes, and release control of it. I am here, and will take hold as soon as you let go. Just let yourself feel it. It will come naturally."
"…You're not here alone are you? and if you were, you're probably helped by something else."
>charge my horn
Rolled 4 = 4
"No-nothing. Just shaken by the transfer," I respond, shivering.
"So where are we? Is that the mine entrance?"
>Before all this pointless madness
>Before any of our deaths
>A time where we could all be together
>Without fear or sorrow
>You need but trust us
>And come with us
I close my eyes, and try to concentrate.
"Can't you just, yank it back? Like how simply you gave it?"
>Stab Cloak in the throat and look Dagger in the eyes
You really think you can play me like that demon?
"Come at me then. Strike me down. Prove that there is more to you than a big mouth."
BOSS: [Avatar of Self Doubt]
Cloak falls over dead.
Dagger seems genuinely shocked.
>BROTHER! I should have known. You are not the mare I loved. You are some doppelganger from another timeline. And to think I almost took you with me.
He leaps back and prepares himself
BOSS: [Dagger - Lordblade of Celestia]
>slowly walk towards the little filly
>right over the filly
He looks you deep in the eye
>You look the same. Sound the same. I only ask why. Why strike my brother down? WHY, DAWN?
You know why! He was going to hunt us for the rest of our lives! AND YOU KNOW I DONT LOOK THE SAME ANYMORE!
>with my horn glowing power
>cheap shot the filly with my shield and send it across the room
As you open your eyes you realize you are encased in a magic field.
Celestia lands. The sun is setting.
You can hear a sharp laugh behind you
"Look at you, mighty Radiant. Falling for a mere puppet act. And to think you thought yourself worthy of succeeding my Princess. Pathetic. NOW DIE!"
BOSS: [Twilight Sparkle]
BOSS: [Zombie Celestia]
>What are you even talking about? I don't understand. I thought we were all going to live on together. All under Celestia as her ears, eyes and blades. WE COULD HAVE BEEN HAPPY AGAIN!
Roll to dodge.
You hear his tiny neck snap as you send him flying into a dark corner.
Out of the shadow walks a stallion as big as you.
"Good. Good. Now let's see you face someone your own size."
He strikes you in the face.
"What? WHAT? NO! NO NO NO!"
Start to trash around and swing my hammer until the magic field breaks.
"YOU DARE CALL YOURSELF OF HER! YOU ARE A DISGRACE!"
My voice turns into a bloodthisty, almost unearthy tone, in a voice that never before left my throat, almost like a demon from another world.
"I WILL FUCKING CRUSH YOU! I WILL TEAR YOU APART!"
You shatter the bubble. Twilight sends Celestia to confront you, and charges an Improved Magic Bolt
Dagger's plunging stab misses, and one of his blades breaks on impact with the floor.
>CLOAK DESERVED BETTER THAN TO DIE IN THIS FORSAKEN HELLHOLE
"I figured as much.."
>blind the stallion with a flash of light, then examine the space of the room and the objects therein
Rolled 2 = 2
>Stab him in the face
HE ALREADY DIE IN A HELLHOLE AND ITS ALL CELESTIAS FAULT.
Rolled 6 = 6
Dodge Celestia, and charge at Twilight.
Activate Fervor in my fury. Aim at her horn.
"HOW DARE YOU DEFY HER, YOU LITTLE CUNT! I'LL TEAR YOU APART!
Rolled 4 = 4
He slams into you, sending you tumbling
"So. You can only face a small child. You really are as weak as you thought. You are not brave or strong, simply foolhardy and desperate. If you want the secrets of life and death, you must conquer your own fears and failures. Now FIGHT ME!"
>slowly get up
"..ah, you give me something Radiant would not. I'll gladLY ACCEPT!"
>Charge the stallion
Rolled 8 = 8
You rend a large gash in his face
>Then it comes to this. I am truly sorry. I only wish we could have been happy
Roll to evade his attack. Critical failure leads to you losing your wings.
As you strike the horn, the stored magic is discharged in a mighty blast. Twilight is knocked away, and her horn cracks a little. As it does, Celestia screams, as similar cracks appear all over her body.
"HOW DARE YOU TAKE HER FROM ME AND ALL OF EQUESTRIA YOU BLASPHEMOUS MANIAC?"
She tries to wrestle your hammer away with telekinesis. Roll to hold on.
You hit him head on, toppling him
"Finish it then. Show me you have the might to do it."
"I know not. I have seen none other than yourself since the library. Come to think of it, I do not even remember the transfer…"
Wince as Celestia screams.
As I try to hold it, I charge her with my body.
"YOU THINK I WANTED THIS? I NEVER ASKED FOR THIS! I WATCHED MY GOD FOR THIS FUCINGK COUNTRY! I WOULD WATCH IT ALL BURN IF SHE WAS ALIVE! BUT THIS? THIS SORCERY? I WILL GUT YOU!"
Rolled 9 = 9
"why? so i can fight ever more freaks of nature? there's an endless line of you isn't there? well SO BE IT!"
>knock the stallion unconscious
>>if that works
>run and grab the tomes
Rolled 10 = 10
"Really? I had to walk all the way here."
I pause for a few seconds and look for something to do. Finding nothing I turn back to Gaius.
"So you're a follower of Luna, right? How did you end up worshiping Luna instead of some gryphon deity?"
Stab him with my sword and dagger.
>Im really sorry but remember I will always love you
You slam the stallion down and grab the tome. As you turn to leave, there is a minotaur at the doorway.
"So you can best a foe that is weaker and one that is equal. But do you have the courage to fight one that is clearly stronger? Are you worthy of the secret here? Or will you forever remain a coward who can barely live down talking to a lady at a bar?"
"The short answer is that I have always been a night owl." I smile at the pun.
"Truthfully there are no real gryphon deities worth the name. Our culture has always revered ancestors instead. Whereas you have the Sun and Night itself watching over you, we worship the great kings and warriors of our past." My expression darkens slightly.
"It is…not always so kind to the losers in those legends."
He falls over, quickly bleeding out
>Dawn… even if you are not… my Dawn… know that I too… we both… loved you… I only wish I could have had… a final kiss goodbye…
You reach her before the spell is ready and slam into her. The frail aged mage buckles under your weight and is once again sent flying. Celestia shrieks in agony as parts of her begin to collapse back into ask. Twilight forced herself upright and Celestia runs to defend her, refusing to let you pass.
"Then if you wish to kill me… let's see you go through her first!"
"That 'LAADY' was a 2 bit, soul sucking, cock swinging, overpriced, pile of FILTH i'm sure you visited plenty of TIMES YOU BROKEN HOMO!"
Rolled 2 = 2
"YOU WOULD LET HER STAND IN YOUR WAY INSTEAD OF YOU, GIVING YOUR LIFE TO HER? YOU ARE A LITTLE SHIT, A STAIN! YOU ARE NOT WORTHY OF HER LOVE!"
I pray, as hard as I can, pray to the Celestia, the real Celestia, that is gone, but I know that is still out there somewhere…
I need her Wings of Light!
If she grants them, leap over this fake one and smash her horn! Make sure not to kill her, just her horn…
Rolled 10 = 10
The minotaur is nudged back, but stays standing. It grabs you and throws you across the cave.
"COME ON. TRY!"
You realize the bodies of the filly and stallion are not there.
>Then so be it you heartless bitch
He stabs you with his remaining blade and dies.
Roll so see what kind of damage you took.
You see the undead Celestia momentarily bow as her eyes and horn glow with magic
Your wings manifest and you leap into the air, bringing your hammer down on the terrified Twilight Sparkle. She screams as her horn shatters. Turning back, you see Celestia starting to crumble.
She struggles to move her mouth before it fades away, but you can clearly make out the words.
Good bye, my most faithful follower and student. Peace be with both of you now.
"Griffon tribes respect strength and little else. Some are spiteful bands of marauders with as little judgement as most dragons. Before Celestia and Goldfeather signed the first border treatises, ponies were common prey for them."
I look at him out of the corner of my eye.
"Surely you have tales of griffons dropping out of the sky to feast on your unwary children?"
The minotaur tares the book from you and tosses it aside, then smashes you across his knee.
"LAST CHANCE. SHOW ME THAT YOU CAN DO MORE THAN SADLY LIMP AWAY."
After watching her crumble, turn back to the unicorn lying before me.
I throw my heavy hammer on the ground, and pick up a sharper piece of her shattered horn, as I grab her robe with another hoof, and pull her closer to me.
"You betrayed my trust, and decieved me with the reanimated dead corpse of my GOD! That is more than Heresy!"
I slap her in the face hard.
"And you can't even begin to think of what I do with heretics… Any last words, you little fuck?"
I start to draw her blood with the sharp horn place, but not stab deep enough to kill her.
>coughing blood, sputter out
"leave… who said anything about leaving?"
>kick him in the face
Rolled 7 = 7
You break one of his horns
He takes the book and rips it in half, then hands you one half.
"Try again if you think you can earn the rest"
The blade cuts across your face and clips your ear.
You now have a notable scar on your face and one ear has a nick in it.
The twins are dead.
Looking outside, the cave entrance is a short trot away.
"I figured they had about as much truth in them as stories about all Zebra's being cannibals. On the other hoof, I thought Beyonders were heroes and ancient friends of my species."
He grabs you by the tail and swings you into a wall like a sock with a brick in it.
"You don't seem to be cut out for this line of work, pony"
Fucking faggot, cast heal on me and Loot their bodies after that I leave.
Rolled 5 = 5
>cough up more blood
"You're not a great fashionista yourself, cowhide"
>strain to use divine wrath
Rolled 10 = 10
"All I wanted was to have my mentor… my god back after you came from nowhere and stole her away. Killing me will mend nothing, least of all your heart. May your friends forgive you what you do here now, for Celestia surely. Will. Not."
"And I thought the tales of pegusi forging your weather and your kingdom ruled by immortal sky gods were the same." I chuckle a bit at the irony.
"Strange how the world works sometimes. For instance, I never thought I would be blessed enough to serve the beautiful night herself in the end."
You blast the minotaur straight out of the tomb, far into the sky where it disappears in a twinkle.
The tome is yours. It contains the spells Resurrection and Reincarnation.
You have bested your inner fears of inadequacy. Most of the party is waiting for you right outside.
You find four hoof-mountable blades. One is broken, another still has your fresh blood on it. There are also two pendants with a picture of you in them, assassin clothes, two of Celestia's signets and two suicide pills disguised as teeth
"And I never though I'd be bless by the sun, or by fire, or whatever it is that lets me do what I do. If you don't mind me asking, did she give you an actual blessing or just give you permission to serve her?"
I take two hoof blades, the assassin clothes and the pendants.
>Funny I thought Cloak hate me.
I leave the caver

I stop the blade.
I can't let this be me…
I can't sink down to her level.
"You don't speak in Her name. You have lost that right."
I stand up, and I throw that piece away.
"I won't kill you. You will have to live the rest of your miserable life, knowing that you have defiled your very mentor, and used her selfishly as a puppet because you couldn't cope with her loss. You couldn't deal with not being Her favourite."
I grab my hammer, and concentrate hard on getting the Sun back under my control.
"You used dark magic to decieve Her dearest subject. She will never forgive YOU!"
I turn back to face her once again.
"How does it feel that you have just lost everything you worked for, all your life to earn? To lose her respect?"
I look away.
"I…volunteered myself to relieve her of a weight she had been burdened with for some time. She branded me with the scar of endless night so she could govern your lands with a clear mind at last. Should I survive this, none of you will ever see me again."
"Are you saying what I think you're saying? Radiant is going to flip her shit if she finds out."
She is silent
The sun is not rising again
The final night has fallen upon Equestria. In just a few hours, all of time will end, and you have squandered that time fighting over who is who's favourite.
Twilight turns to leave
"By now, Canterlot burns, I assume. The Beyonders might even have reached as deep as Ponyville, possibly Manehattan. I came here to watch the final hours of the world at Celestia's side. Now, now I doubt there is anything left for me in this world."
She turns to you
"Good bye, Radiant Dawn. Celestia's most faithful follower. May you die well."
She then limps off.
You grab the loot and meet up with the others by the mines
"Indeed, she will. I ask that you keep this from her unless absolutely necessary. She is troubled enough, and I fear such knowledge may push her over the edge. If she loses her way here, we may all pay the price."
>show him the pendant
I just meet with some old "friends", what are you guys doing here?
Well would you look at that. The cave was right behind you. You were just looking the wrong way.
Starswirls and Starswirls also walk over. They both seem a bit mopey.
>"Too much time has been lost"
"We will need to throw caution to the wind if we wish to make it in time"
Meanwhile, high above in the crystal keep, Distortion was reading about how the DM is fairly sleepy and perfectly OK with continuing tomorrow if the players want to do that.
Welp, we end then.
>NEXT TIME ON MLPGDND: END TIMES
