The party find itself within the corridor of Darlight Cavern. The only light are the torches they brought with them, but the sight might have some of them rather be blind.
The only sounds are the drips of blood spilling from the floor from the corpses of the Tirekians, flowing slowly like a small stream into the darkness.
There's a red light at the end of it and slowly another sound becomes audible
A heartbeat, slow but thunderous…

559869

Keep walking, slow but steady, towards the heartbeat.

559870

>>559868

'1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

559871

>>559868
I'm used to only hearing my own heartbeat when it's acting up…
"Goodness gracious, such a dreadful place."

559872

>>559871
"Worst I've seen so far."

559873

>>559868
I scrunch.
"Keep your eyes open, Silver! This smells bad!"
Bolster Mabel.
Empower Soil.

559876

>>559872
"Simply appalling."
Cock my rifle.

559878

>>559868
Ready homing magic, if I haven't already. '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

559883

>>559870
It's pretty dark here, but there's no real cover.

>>559873
She's bolstered.
He's empowered.
Silver nods.
"Cadance is with us." he says nervously but you hear a tinge of fear on his tongue.

The heartbeat becomes louder as you proceed through the corridor. Only broken by the splash as your hooves trot through the small streams of blood covering the floor.
You feel your hearts grow cold and muster all your courage to fight the instinct to flee far away from this dark place.

At last you enter the grand chamber. It is a large cavern, there are a multitude of other passages carved into all directions. It is bathed in a red light coming from the altar in front of you. Around the altar lay countless bones of innocent sacrifices right in front of it, between you and the altar is a circular pit, filled with blood. The blood stirs and seems to be the source of the heartbeat. At the edge of it, close to you, stands a small pegasus (not a colt/filly, just small), clothed in black armor, far more elaborately decorated.
"You fought well, but your efforts only serve to strengthen the Lord of Midnight." he speaks in a surprisingly deep growl.
He points to the blood beneath you that slowly flows to the pit as well.
"Who sent you?"

559884

>>559878
You have 2 of them

559889

>>559883
"Fate, I suppose, would be the best answer."

559890

>>559883
Start slowly walking along the chamber.
Try to circle around him.
And ready my swords.

559892

>>559890
Behind him is the blood pit, you mean behind him, on the other side of the blood pit?

559893

>>559883
I narrow my eyes at the scene.
"As a paladin of the imperial savior princess Cadance, I could sense this evil place from afar! We've defeated your minions, demon, and you are next! We're shutting this place down in the name of our lady!"

559894

>>559883
"It was a shortcut."

559895

>>559892
Hmm… The other side of the blood pit then, I guess.
And try to be stealthy, obviously.

Cities will fall beneath my gaze and I will tear the golden halls of Canterlot apart. I will extinguish the Sun and the Moon in my hooves.
"

559899

>>559898
"Well, I do suppose we all have our fantasies."

He just laughs and falls into the pit, Mabel jumping off just in time.
The blood swirls and stirs and after a few seconds splashes up high.
Two giant hooves emerge from the blook, burning with black fire and a giant head, eyes glowing and his maw dripping with blood. A loud laugh emerges from it.

The cheers and singing die down as you enter and everyone looks at you.
"What is the meaning of this?" exclaims the one-eyed griffon.
"You. Pony, step forward and explain why you dare to enter the hallowed halls of Valhalla."

The Heart glows brightly and you lose all track of space, time, only a bright comforting light.
You float inbetween it, formless.
You had read of the bonds between all ponies, but here you feel them.
Without thoughts or words, you feel the love of not only yourself, not just your family, not just Silver, not just your friends and their friends and their families, but of every pony across the globe.
You see beyond the barriers of hate that divide ponies and for a moment, you know, that we are truly meant to be one brotherhood…
You blink and you find yourself on the floor, your body full of wounds, besides you lays Silver, gravely wounded as well, but he lives, you see a grin on his face.

The demons howl for a final attack determined to break through as a blast of light burst from the paladins, flowing harmlessly through you but destroying all the minor demons.
The prince growls and shakes in fury
The paladins open their eyes, glowing with a pink light as their bodies turn to energy and with a flash they disappear.
In their place is the ethereal form of a pink alicorn shining bright.
The Prince grits its teeth and slams his hooves down upon the alicorn, but his hooves burn away as they touch her.
The Prince howls in pain but the unicorn focuses her magic and a beam of holy energy erupts from her horn turning the monster and the pit into stone.
When it is done the unicorn slowly floats down again, as it touches the ground it fades away, leaving only the wounded bodies of the paladins behind.
They move…

A silence falls over the cave…

Rush to them already!
"Amber!
Silver!
"

560833

>>560831
Pick up Inferni, and hold him close to myself.
Give him a gentle kiss on the forehead too.
Then walk over to Amber and Silver.
"Are you both allright?"

560834

>>560831
I fly over and clap.
"Well done everypony."

560835

>>560831
O-Oh gosh…
"I think-"
I grunt as I roll onto my belly.
"… I think I might need some healing."
I grin despite my wounds.
"That was soooo great though! We did it! We really did it Silver!"

>>560832
>>560833
>>560834
"I'm fine! Just a little hurt, that's all! Did you guys see that!?"

560836

>>560835
Nod eagerly.
"That was the freakiest magic ever."

560837

>>560835
Natural Remedy on both her and Silver, something to fix them up.
"I saw, yes."
Smile.
"It was beautiful. Thank you for that."

560838

>>560835
"Oh we saw it, sugar. Though ya'll shouldn't move too much until you get healed."

560839

>>560835
He grabs your hoof as you both get treated by Mabel.
He nods. "We did…"

>>560833
He seems happy. Despite him having lost more feathers than ever. He has a bald spot on his back.

560840

>>560837
>>560836
>>560838
I grin and slowly stand up after I'm healed.
"That was fun! We should totally do it again sometime!"

560841

>>560840
Grin wide, ear to ear.
"Totally!
We should go hunt demons and stuff!"

560842

>>560840
>>560841
"They wouldn't stand a chance!"

560843

>>560840
I chuckle.
"Well… it certainly was something else, I must admit."

560844

>>560842
Laugh heartedly and swing a hoof behind your back, poking you on the chest with the other.
"Not if you are with us pal!"

560845

>>560840
Sigh.
"Whoa there. It had a bit too much blood and demons in it for me to want to do it again."

>>560839
Nuzzle him.
"Is what I'm thinking is happening is happening to you?"

560846

>>560844
"Where else would I be? Hopefully the rest of the trip is like this!"

560847

>>560839
Smile at him.
"Did you feel it?"

>>560841
>>560842
>>560843
"Once we get our friends back, we totally could!"

>>560845
"Thanks for healing us! Somebody has to take care of this stuff!"

560848

>>560846
"Haha!"
Give a vigorous shake and let go.

560849

>>560847
"You're welcome. And as I said, I have to thank you, that I could witness something like this."

560850

>>560845
He nods.

>>560847
He nods and the gives you a hug.

560851

>>560849
"It was pretty flashy!"

>>560850
Shiny hug him back!

560856

>>560847
I'm probably looking pretty ragged… so very uncouth.

>>560854
>>560853
"How quaint, should we sell it to a museum perhaps?"

560857

>>560856
"I was thinking about taking a piece."

560858

>>560851
Smile a bit.
"And shiny."

>>560850
"Can I help you with it?"

560859

>>560855
Go ahead.

>>560856
Do realize it is about the size of 10 ponies.
Fucker was huge.

Silver pulls a bit back and softly raises your chin, so you can look each other in the eyes.

560862

>>560859
Nod again.

560863

>>560857
"A memento… I could certainly get behind that."

>>560859
He could be set up in a grand entry hall!

But I suppose just chipping off a part of it as a memento is fine too.

560864

>>560863
>>560859
"Should we all just take a piece? Maybe he won't be able to reform if we do."

The cap? From a hydra we capped!
The shield? From the ursa and the guant tree!
The armor? Manticore fur back in Silverhaze when I first met my pals!"

560867

>>560860
You can only see his upper body.
His hooves are burned off from his attempt to harm the Avatar of Cadance.
His head is thrown up towards the ceiling.
He seems to be screaming.
Perhaps if you feel like climbing part of his teeth, helmet or armor would be a worthy prize.

>>560866
"A… hydra?"
I shake my head with a chuckle.
"You ponies are full of surprises, are you not?"

>>560867
Oh my, love is in the air!
I will fly up and seek a worthy trophy.

560871

Roll #1 1 + 3 = 4

560874

I suppose I'll rouse myself from my spot on the floor. Probably got buried in ashes for a minute there.

560875

>>560872
>>560867
Hmm a bit inexperienced of Silver perhaps but hey, not like you got anything to compare it too.
He grins and lets you go.

EVERYONE GETS A SKILLPOINT MOTHERFUCKERS

>>560873
THE STATUE COMES ALIVE
Nah, just kidding, give it a sec.

560876

>>560874
I suppose I could give you a Natural Remedy as well.
"Are you allright?"

560877

>>560876
"I'll live. I take it that whatever the paladins were doing worked?"
>>560875
About time those two took the plunge.

560878

>>560875
I cover my mouth with a hoof and giggle.

560879

>>560875
I pull out an arrow and keep it with men, just in case.

560880

On the breastplate of the statue, amidst a host of heretical symbols you find a part that seems to have been forgotten to defile by the pegasus. It is the winged pegasus insignia of the Royal Equestrian Wonderbolts. Who knows why this guy decided to turn to path of evil?
You could break it off and divide it into a number of pieces, as a commemoration of your fight here.

560881

>>560880
Sure. That works.
"Anyone have a chisel? I know Amber has a hammer."

560882

>>560880
If Warren wants he may take a 6 to shrink the thing down and put it in his bag of holding.

560883

>>560882
The thing= the statue

560884

>>560881
"Here, my arrowheads could work."

560885

>>560880
"Hmmm… A wonderbolt? I have heard of them before."

560886

>>560882
Until we can turn it over to another den of paladins, anyway. I'll wait until the insignia gets divvied up.
>>560884
"They might. Amber, if you can part yourself from Silver for a moment?"

560887

>>560886
!
I blush and turn to you.
"Huh?"

560888

>>560887
"We're all happy you and Silver have finally admitted your feelings for each other, but if you could lend your hammer for a moment, Soil would like a piece of this old Wonderbolt emblem for a trophy."

560889

The beauty of the wonderbolt insignia is the circle marked by feathers and a lightning bolt in the middle.
You divide it like a pizza in pieces.
Each of you has a triangle with a side of one feather and a small piece of the lightning bolt in the middle.

560890

>>560888
>>560887
"Oh c'mon Warren!
Smooching after a battle is important!"

560891

>>560889
And then we will run to the seven corners of the earth, to bury and guard them forever.

560892

>>560889
Well, once Amber stops staring at silvers dick and gets to work at least

560893

>>560877
"Don't tell me you missed it!"

560894

>>560888
Elbow you in the side.
"Come on now, let them be!"

560895

>>560888
>>560890
I scrunch.
"W-We were just… uh…"
Darn it! Just give them the hammer!

560896

>>560889
"This, I actually have something good to send home."

560897

LH gets another skill point to help her get even with the group

560898

>>560890
I'll shrug.
"Even so."
>>560893
"I was knocked around a bit while they were about to hit critical mass. I remember a pink flash, and that's about it."
>>560895
"No one's judging, Amber. It's cute, and it means you and Silver have achieved a new partnership, stronger than the last."
And then we split the emblem.

560899

>>560895
"Hey, me and Iris do that stuff all the time!"
>>560897
Give Silver a wink wink nudge nudge.

560900

>>560895
"It's okay, Amber, we all knew this would happen eventually."

>>560898
"I don't think I'm a poet enough to describe what I saw."

560901

>>560899
He scratches the back of his head and grins sheepishly

560902

>>560900
"Well, despite it's obviously awe-inspiring nature, I hope they don't have to do it again. We'll be in dire straits if they do."

560903

>>560902
Chuckle.
"Don't worry, I'm not enthusiastic about repeating something like this either."

560904

>>560895
"It was rather heartwarming."

560905

>>560898
>>560899
I huff.

>>560900
>>560904
"You're being very smug!"

>>560902
>>560903
"Why not? It was great! So much fun!"

560906

You make a fire in the cave and prepare to rest here for a while…
Many more dangers are sure to follow.

PAUSE

560907

>>560905
"Except that, if we're calling on it, it means we're in deep, deep trouble."

560908

>>560905
"I saw the way you two were looking at each other. And you probably missed all the non-fun parts."

560909

>>560907
"But so are the ones we're fighting!"

>>560908
"What way we were looking at each other? I don't know what you're talking about at all!"

563545

The fire shines brightly in the dark.
After this hard fight, a small break and talk is welcome.

563549

>>563545
How did Star like that?

563553

>>563545
Go and follow the others.
I then look at Silver, what is he doing?

563556

>>563549
Are you kidding me?
She's shinier than ever and looking at Amber and Silver with sheer awe.

>>563553
Sitting by the fire and looking at it.
Seemingly in deep thought

563557

>>563556
"You seem flabbergasted, darling. I cannot blame you, of course. That was quite the show."

563558

>>563556
Approach him.
"Is Silver pony alright?"

563559

>>563557
She looks up.
"Are you kidding me? They summoned the Saviour herself. It was incredible. Do you even realize how amazing that is?"

>>563558
He looks up.
"Uh? Oh…yes, mister Snacks…I am quite alright." He seems a bit distracted

563560

>>563559
"… 'The saviour'? Cadance you mean?"

563563

>>563559
I close my arm and sit next to him.
"No you dont, is there anything bothering Silver pony?"

563567

>>563560
"Yes. We call her the Saviour because she freed the Empire from the evil King Sombra."

>>563563
"It was weird. The ritual I mean…I'm still trying to come to terms with what happened."

563570

>>563567
"I had heard of that. Quite the victory for Equestria and the Crystal Empire, that was."

563571

>>563567
"Silver and Amber able to summon forth something is weird. Snack didnt know ponies are capable of such powerful magics." I grin.
"How does it feel if its okay for Snack to ask?"

563579

>>563570
"Yes, Cadance herself brought Sombra down and reclaimed the Crystal Heart! We all saw it."
Her eyes grow misty.
"It was the most beautiful day of our lives."

>>563571
He scratches his head.
"Confused. I don't know how to feel…"

563583

>>563579
"Hmmm, it must have been. I hear Sombra was quite the tyrant."

563588

>>563579
I scratch my head.
"Silver didnt feel anything? Snack felt he is in awe of the spectacle… and also a bit afraid because Snack is worried of the safety of everybody during that moment."

563589

>>563588
I then stop to think.
"Maybe Silver must ask Amber how she felt so Silver will know how he must feel."

563590

>>563583
She nods.
"We don't remember much of it.
But when I try to remember, I shudder.
And what we do remember…it's not pretty…"

>>563588
"I don't know. I didn't know I…we could do that…"

563593

>>563590
I gulp as I see him starting to be hysterical.
"Calm down pony, its all going to be fine. Snack is sorry for pressing it."

563594

>>563590
"I will not press that line of conversation then."
Look at Amber and Silver.
"But those two certainly are something else…"

563596

>>563593
He's not really going hysterical.
He's just very very contemplative.
"I'm okay…"

>>563594
"Paladins of the Saviour. It's such an honor."

563602

>>563596
"We may count ourselves lucky to be in their presence. Without that… performance of theirs, killing that demon would have been problematic."

563603

Butt?

563604

>>563596
I stop and think for a moment.
"So what does Silver think of our group? We are a dynamic team is it not?"

563605

>>563602
"It's not a performance! It's a ritual, a holy ritual!"

>>563603
You're around the campfire in the cave.
Talk as you please.
Plot doesn't seem to be moving forward tonight.

>>563604
"It's been quite lively since I joined all of you. You seem to run into quite a lot of trouble."

563606

>>563605
I chuckle.
"Yes of course, a ritual. An impressive one nonetheless."

563608

>>563605
Silver?

563609

>>563605
"That is true, we are monster hunters after all." I grin.
"So does Silver plans to stay? Any idea on how to improve our ass kicking?"

563612

>>563608
He's talking to Snacks.
He grins as you come by.

>>563606
"I've never seen something quite like it.
But I know paladins can do amazing things. Did you ever hear of the Sword and the Hammer?"

>>563609
"Of course I'll stay and I believe I could learn a thing or 2 from you, mister Snacks."

563615

>>563612
"I'm afraid I have not, no."

563616

>>563612
Sit down next to him and grin.
"That was so much fun! I hope you're feeling better!"

563617

>>563612
I pound my chest
"Snack can teach Silver anything, though Silver can also teach Snacks too. We can exchange notes."

563623

>>563615
"They're the 2 greatest paladins of Cadance. I saw them during the Siege of the Capital.
When the shields were breached we thought all was lost, but together they held the line against hordes of Changelings until the mages could reform the shield again. It was breathtaking."

>>563616
He grins.
"Eh…maybe I'm overthinking all of it. I don"t really know how to feel about all that happened. Maybe I still need to realize what just happened."

>>563617
"Sounds like a plan. Where are you from, mister Snacks?"

563626

563628

>>563616
I scratch my head and looks at him a bit worried.
"Snack lives in fort Stardust, you may have heard of that fort that is settled in the Foal mountain ranges, east of Canterlot, deep in the mountains…. "

563629

>>563628
>
>>563623
"So where does Silver live?"

563630

>>563623
"It was pretty amazing! The emotions were so strong! I could almost taste it!"

563632

>>563623
"Changelings you say? Interesting creatures, those are. I would love to see one some day. … Perhaps I have already, it would be quite hard to tell."

563637

>>563629
"Bloodstone. A small town near the Crystal mountains."

>>563630
"I'm happy you liked it. I felt it was really intense…I've never felt like that."

>>563632
She frowns.
"You don't want to meet them. They're evil!"

>>563626
Faff is still ongoing. Plot soon I think.

563639

>>563637
"East of the Crystal Empire is Snack right? How is living there?"

563644

>>563637
"Me neither! You were great, holding out against those wounds like that!"

563649

>>563637
I chuckle.
"Evil or not… they are something truly unique."
Look around.
"Not quite the demons we fought today, but still very dangerous if they wish to be."

563662

>>563649
"They might as well be demons. In Agate, the last town to be liberated from them, they sucked everypony dry from emotions….I heard even veteran soldiers were shocked by what they saw there…"

>>563644
He smirks.
"I couldn't keep you hanging."

>>563639
"The Crystal Empire is on a plateau near the Crystal Mountains. It should be very cold but the Crystal Heart makes the climate warm and comfortable. The hills are green and there were many crystal corn fields near Bloodstone."

563667

>>563662
"How despicable."

563670

>>563662
Give him a shiny hug.
"You really didn't! You're the best partner I could hope for!"

563672

>>563667
"I read in one of my books that they once were demons. But when Tirek was imprisoned they became what they are now. Stupid bugs."

>>563670
Roll not to blush '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

563673

>>563670
He keeps his composure, but smiles.
"Right back at you."

563676

>>563673
"I bet the others are going to be super impressed that we took down these Tirekians with Cadance's help!"

563679

>>563662
"Snacks see's, perhaps one day Snack can viisit." I grin.

>>563670
>>563672
I look at the two.
"Uhhmmm.. so you two are…" I grin.

563683

>>563676
"Once we're back in Canterlot they'll be jealous!"

>>563679
"My parents would be very happy, I'm sure. My dad is mayor there."
He grins sheepishly as you mention Amber.

563685

>>563683
>>563679
I scrunch.
"So what if we are!?"

563686

>>563672
"Well, they have yet to make landfall in the new world to my knowledge. Perhaps it would be a bit too much for them to handle."

563688

>>563683
>>563685
I grin knowingly.
"Nothing, now Snack knows why you two are able to pull that magic off." I grin.

563691

>>563686
"Just hope they never do. Once they're in, you'll never get them out."

>>563688
Silver grins.
"It's all because of Cadance, we simply asked for her help and she answered."

563696

>>563691
"Well… if they do end up there, I will at least get a chance at seeing them up close without having to go too far."
I chuckle.

563699

>>563688
"Thanks to the saviour! She stands by our side!"

563702

>>563691
>>563699
I nod.
"Cadence is the princess of love right? Now Snack understands."

"So if it is powered by love… then Snack and…. " I scratch my chin.

563703

>>563696
She scrunches.
"What's the New World like?"

>>563702
Silver grins.
"Star? I'm not sure if a non-initiated can summon Cadance like we did. But certainly she listens to every prayer."

563707

>>563703
I blush and lower my head.
"S…. snack see's. Snack is just curious thats all."

563710

>>563703
"Most of it is wild and untamed beauty, and by that I do not just mean nature, but the ponies living there as well."
I chuckle.
"Very… different from Equestria, yet in some ways very similar. It is hard to describe. Dixie city itself is truly unique however, it has a certain charm to it that cannot be found anywhere else in this whole wide world."

563712

>>563707
He pats your shoulder.
"Dont be ashamed, Snacks. It's love, that's a good thing."

563715

>>563710
"Maybe we can sail there sometime?"

563721

>>563715
"It is not quite so nearby, sugar. It would take weeks of travel."

563726

>>563721
"I don't mind."

563727

>>563726
"Have you traveled on a ship before then? It can get quite monotonous to stay on the high seas for prolonged amounts of time."

563728

>>563712
I just lower my head.
"Love is a good thing, it can change anyone. Its just that both Snack and Star are different from each other that its something that worries me."

563733

>>563727
"I was on a boat a few days to go from Canterlot to Vanhoover."

>>563728
"Star is a bit shy, but she really seems to care for you."

563735

>>563733
"Oh, but that must have been on a river, no?"

563736

>>563733
I nod.
"Star's the best! She's soooo smart too!"

563737

>>563735
She nods.
"It's a boat…."

>>563736
"The smartest."

563738

>>563737
"Of course, but it is different. You still see landscapes and are able to stop on the way there. On the high seas… well, there is only water. Water as far as the eye can see for weeks on end. You can probably imagine how that must feel after a while."

563739

>>563733
I nod.
"As I care for her, she has a hard life. Snacks plans one day to just be with her and make her happy in everything…. even if it means going away if she finds Snack not her type, if that makes her happy."
"Maybe Snack is just worrying too much… does Silver thinks the same?"

563740

>>563738
"Lots of time for reading a good book. It sounds delightful."

563741

>>563737
"… Well, Iris is smart too. I don't know which one of them is the smartest…"
I frown and think this matter over in deep concentration.

563743

>>563739
"You just have to…let it happen."

>>563741
"I wouldn't know…what do you think, mister Snacks?"

563745

>>563740
I chuckle.
"Quite the optimist you are, darling. I approve."

563754

>>563743
"Let it happen?"
"Does Silver mean… just let the emotions flow?" I fidget in my seat.

563756

>>563754
"It worked for me."

>>563741
Nuzzle you~

>>563745
"When you were sailing to Equestria, did you see pirates?"

563758

>>563756
I look at both Crystal as they nuzzle.
"Snack will put that in mind then. Thanks." I smile at Silver.

563759

>>563756
"Pirates? Why do you ask? But no, I did not. The ship I traveled on was not exactly a prime target."

563762

>>563758
"I hope it helps."

>>563759
"I heard many stories of pirates.
They sing about rum and they wear eyepatches and have wooden hooves. And they go to islands to find treasure."

563763

>>563756
D-don't blush and nuzzle him back.

Roll #1 1 = 1

563765

>>563763
Suddenly the cave glows red again!
You all wonder if the red altar came alive again, but it turns out Amber is just blushing.

563766

>>563762
>>563763
Seeing the awkwardness beginning to happen between the two, I stand up.
"Snack will leave you two and see Star if she is fine." I grin as I stand up and go to her.

563768

>>563765
Cover my cheeks and look away! Be stealthy!

Roll #1 10 = 10

563770

>>563766
"Hey, Snacks!"
She chuckles as she sees Amber.

>>563768
Crystal emotions-1
You quickly grab a blanket to cover your red glowing body and cheeks. The glow is gone.

563773

>>563762
"Hmmm, well those stories tend to be just that, stories. From what I understand, pirates are not quite so pleasant. I have met with some pirate hunters before who told me stories which were, quite frankly, disturbing."

563774

>>563770
I think I'll hide under here for the rest of my life…

Roll #1 10 = 10

563776

>>563770
I wave at Star.
"Star seems to be amused at how Amber glows. Snack thinks she is very fond of nuzzling with Silver."

563780

>>563773
"W-what did they say?"

>>563776
"I think so too."

>>563774
You sneakily walk away under the blanket until the others don't see you anymore.
As you sit under the blanket, somepony sticks his head in.
In the red glow you see Silver.
"I see you made your own little place."
He smirks.
"Very comfortable."

563782

563783

>>563780
"Let us not ruin this joyous victory with such dreadful tales. Perhaps I can tell you some other time."

563784

>>563780
I snicker and sat next to her.
"What are you and LH talking about? Does it revolves about love?"

563785

>>563780
I scrunch.
"It is very comfortable!"

Roll #1 9 = 9

563787

SHALL WE PLOT?

>>563783
"Promise?"

>>563784
"She was telling me about pirates!"

>>563785
"Might I come in?"

563788

>>563787
"Of course."

>SHALL WE PLOT?

Isn't it a bit late to start at this point?

563789

>>563787
"Uh… sure?"

563790

>>563787
If everyone is here.
"Pirates, Snack has heard of those terrors of the sea's. Some are weird swashbucklers that follows a weird code of honor while others are just bad folks, cut-throats of the seas."
"Well that is what Snacks knows that is."

563791

>>563789
It's a big blanket.
You're 2 ponies underneath a blanket now.
"Why are you hiding?"

>>563788
>1AM
Yeah.

>>563790
Star scrunches.
"That doesn't sound fun at all."

563792

>>563791
"I'm not hiding at all! I'm just resting!"

563793

>>563791
I think for a bit.
"Hmmmm…. they do get to travel around so that is kind of fun. Travelling the world with little worry does sound pleasing."I grin.

563794

>>563792
"You make a cute motion with your ears when you lie."
He boops your nose.

>>563793
"But…that's what we do!"

563795

>>563794
I scrunch as he boops me.
"That's not true!"

563796

>>563794
I stop and think for a moment.
"So we do the same as pirates does in where we travel uncharted lands, adventure awaits and we dont know what will happen next except that it will be exciting. Sounds fun to Snack, does Star agree?"

563797

>>563795
"Yes you do~"

>>563796
"We travel to unexplored lands right now! Like…this cave!"

563799

>>563797
"This cave, that doge fort up until Canterlot. Snack has not been there and it will be worth exploring it if you ask me." I smile.

563801

>>563797
"Well… uh… y-you wrinkle your nose when lying!"

563803

>>563799
"Do you still have that key?"

>>563801
"Do I now?"

563804

>>563803
"Totally! It makes you look really silly!"

563805

>>563803
"Yes Snack does." I fumbled to my pack and lean closer to her as I show her the key.
"Is it not a beauty…."

563807

>>563805
She looks at it and runs her hoof over it.
"I wonder what it opens…"

>>563804
He wrinkles his nose.
"I can't help it. Help, it's wrinkling on its own!"

563810

>>563807
"You must be lying then!"

563811

>>563810
"Amber, you have to help me…I can't go out of here like this."
His nose is wrinkling.

563812

>>563807
"It did say that it lays near… or underneath Canterlot, once we arrive there we may get more clue's about the forts whereabouts and its keys." I hand her the keys and just watch her.

563813

>>563811
Tap his nose with a hoof.
"Stop it then!"

563814

>>563812
"Maybe it's full of gems…or books."

>>563813
"I..I think only a kiss can help!"

563815

>>563814
"Not to mention the history and culture." I lean closer and wrap my arms around her.
"If we do find one, Star will have first pick of the loot specially books and jewelries."

563816

>>563814
""That sounds a little too convenient!

563817

>>563816
"It's the truth!"
His nose stops for a second and then continues again.

>>563815
She grins.
"Do I?"

563818

>>563817
Hmmmm…
"Fine!"
Lean forward and give him a kissu.

Roll #1 4 + 2 = 6

563819

>>563818
Kissu~ '1d10+2'

Roll #1 8 + 2 = 10

563820

>>563817
I scruffle her mane.
"Yes she does." I grin.

563821

>>563818
>>563819
His nose stopped.
He grins.
"Thanks~"

>>563820
"We should get you a suit once we found it, I'm sure you'd look magnificent in a tuxedo."

563823

>>563821
"Combined with this hat Snack thinks he will look more fabulous.." I produce the spider bowler hat and wear it.
"See?"

563824

>>563821
"It actually worked! Wow!"

563833

>>563824
"You're a miracle healer!"

>>563823
"Hehehe. You look more fancy already."

563837

>>563833
"… I guess! Healing is my talent!"

563840

>>563833
"Why thanks."
I then put the hat in her head.
"Talk about a fancy pony, it suits her well." I chuckle as I boop her nose with mine.

563841

>>563837
"Now wanna come back from under this blanket and go sit by the fire again?"

>>563840
She nuzzles back '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

563842

>>563841
That's +2 = 7

563844

>>563841
"… Okay!"
Crawl from under it.

563845

>>563841
Nuzzle closer to her just letting the moment flow.
'1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

563846

>>563844
And you're back in the cave.
And you're not glowing anymore!

>>563845
That's a really nice nuzzle.
You can feel her soft nuzzle on your sensitive dog nose.

563847

>>563846
That's good!
Sit back down by the fire and rest then I guess?

563849

>>563847
I suppose.
Silver raises his hooves under the blanket.
"Wooooo" he says spookily

563853

>>563849
I scrunch.
"Don't make me smite you!"

563857

>>563853
"….You wouldn't…."

563861

>>563846
Just roll on my back and rest my head on my bag. I then slowly wrap my arms around her as I let her head rest on my chest, then cuddle her near the fire.
"…. Star.." I just mumbled as I rest.

563864

>>563861
"Snacks." She mumbles as she rests on your chest.

563865

>>563857
"It's my duty as a paladin to smite spooky beings!"

563870

>>563865
"I'm so spooky I'm not scared of a paladin!"

563872

>>563870
Tackle him.
"I'll show you! Defend yourself!"

Roll #1 9 = 9

563875

>>563872
Rolling to dodge.
-1 because can't see shit.
'1d10-1'

Roll #1 6 - 1 = 5

563876

>>563872
>>563875
You tackle him to the ground!
He's still stuck in the blanket.

563878

>>563876
"Now what!?"

Roll #1 10 = 10

563880

>>563878
…..
'1d10-1'

Roll #1 2 - 1 = 1

563881

>>563864
Just hug her a bit tighter and let us earn our well deserved rest together.
Thanks for the faff.

563882

>>563880
>>563878
"T-this spooky being surrenders, beautiful and mighty paladin."

563885

>>563882
"Hah!"
Let him go and stand up, towering over him proudly.

563886

>>563885
Rolling to not sweat profusely as he takes the blanket off and looks up '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

563887

>>563885
>>563886
He uncovers his head, as he looks up and sees you, he keeps the rest of the blanket over his body.
He seems to be sweating from the exercise.
"I'll win next time."

563888

>>563886
>>563887
I smirk.
"You'll try."

563889

>>563888
"Just watch out. I'll wait for the perfect opportunity!"

563890

>>563889
"Good luck with that!"

563891

>>563890
"Eh…you go to the fire…I'll sit here for a little bit…plotting my revenge…"

563892

>>563891
"You're not getting rid of me that easily!"

563893

>>563892
"But I…uh…need a few minutes alone to…recompose myself."

563894

>>563893
I scrunch and walk off then.

563895

>>563894
He joins you 5 minutes later by the campfire and quickly puts his armor back on.

564840

My gaze will drift towards the large diamond dog known as Snacks. I smirk slightly.
"Snacks, was it? What brings you to travel with this illustrious group of adventurous spirits?"

564841

>>564840
I drifted my attention to her and stare at the fire.
"What drifted Snack? First is money, and food, nothing to scrape by in the fort where I came from. little food and nothing to do back then because trade is sparse and growing food in the mountains is pretty hard and sparse. Thats why Snack hauled his belongings and go down the mountain to offer his skills as a hunter to anyone willing to pay snack gold and food."

I then hug Star.
"Snack find food, gold … and much more."

564842

>>564841
"A fort? Well I do declare, I have heard about the diamond dog forts ya'll live in, but I have never seen one with my own eyes. A shame to hear some of your kin has to deal with famine issues."

564843

>>564842
I gulp and glace at you.
"Snack prays that LightHeart pony does not venture near one unless she is with Snack or if she has business in one of the forts. Most forts nowadays are not very welcoming of ponies unlike in the old days. They may even capture LightHeart even if she is not careful."

564844

>>564843
"I see. That is unfortunate to hear. Miss Star warned me of changelings in the same manner. It seems there is much people fear on this continent. But pray tell… is it true what they say about diamond dogs and their infatuation for forced labor?"

564845

>>564844
"Star is good to warn LIghtHeart about changelings. Trickster they are and frightening one too, once they take root in any kind of settlement; whether be it a pony village, gryphon nest or a fort they will drain the place of emotion and it will be gone for good."

I then gulp and stroke Star's mane.
"As for most dog forts… yes it is true…"

564846

>>564845
"As horrible as changelings may be, they are quite interesting too. I would love to converse with one if it ever were possible, they must have a rather unique mindset."
I nod at the latter comment.
"I see. I assume you are not a fan of said practices?"

564847

>>564846
I look at you and nod as I stroke Star's mane.
"…. Snack is not comfortable about it, now that Snack has known its effect on those that we capture back then."

564848

>>564847
"I understand, sugar. Why, slavery is legal in Dixie too, but that does not mean I approve of the practice. On the contrary, I find it rather despicable."

564849

>>564848
"Y… you too? Snack didnt know some ponies do that. Snack do admire LightHeart find such things despicable."
I then look at Star.
"Star is almost captured back then, Snack finds her captured and in chains. If not for the help of Snacks friends like Amber, Poor Soil, Melody and Mwa. Star might been carted somewhere….. Goddess knows where.." I frown.

564850

>>564849
"I see. Ya'll encountered slavers somewhere then?"

564851

>>564850
"All has encountered slavers…. for Snack is one back when Snack lives in the fort…."
I lower my head and focus my stare at the fire.

564852

>>564851
"Well, I do suppose we have all done things we are not proud of in the past."

564853

>>564852
"Snack is shocked of how things works differently outside the fort, Snack didnt know about how other forts operate, the cruelties of their citizens and how it effects the lives of those we captured."
"Shortcake told of their stories to Snack when we first met. Snack could not met their eyes for sometime because all Snack can see is their anger. Then Snack heard of Star's story and…. that is where Snack began to hate himself."
I poke the fire and play with it and muse for a moment.
"If things could be different."

564854

>>564853
"Now now, darling. That is no way to think about oneself. As long as you see the error of your ways and are willing to right the wrongs, who could possibly blame you? Just because you and I were born in a place where slavery is legal does not mean we should be blamed for it, no?"

564855

>>564854
I look at you.
"Snack felt pretty disheartened of it all…. Snack dont think that Snack will be able to go back to his fort. Thats why Snack thinks that when Snack retires, Snack will build a lone dwelling somewhere near food and away from trouble.. Ponyville sounds like a good place."

"…. how about Light Heart pony? How does she feel about it? Does she want to go back to Dixie place after knowing the…. sadness of it all?"

564856

>>564855
"Dixie may have its flaws, but it is my home and I love it very dearly. I have friends and family living there whom I care for, so returning there for a visit is certainly something on my agenda. Settling down in Dixie… that is unlikely. Life is far too short to settle down. I wish to see and experience the world first before my heart gives out for good."

564857

>>564856
"Gives out for good…?" I look at you worried.

564858

>>564857
I wave a hoof dismissively.
"I am sorry darling. I should not worry you with such talk."

564859

>>564858
I smile at you softly.
"Its fine to talk about it with Snack, Snack thinks LightHeart is a good pony and someone Snack can trust."

564860

>>564859
"Well… if you are not aware of this yet, I have a weak heart. It is a medical condition I have been suffering from for years now. Too much stress or excitement can lead to… unpleasantness. I take pills to counter this, but as I grow older… well let us just say that age tends to make these things more dangerous. In truth, it is entirely possible I will not live to see my thirtieth birthday."
I pause for a moment, gathering myself.
"Perhaps I will find a cure before it claims me… or perhaps I will not. I cannot know. What I do know is that I wish to enjoy life to the fullest. I do not wish to spend it locked up in fear somewhere in Dixie. I want to see the world and experience as much as I can. To use whatever time I have left to the fullest."
Keep my smile present.
"Do you understand?"

564861

>>564860
I listen there and gulp.
"This is first time Snack heard of such things, Snack is not good at being doctor and… thirty years."
I bite my lips and breath deep , keeping tears away as I ponder.
"Snack hopes that he can translate and say this well… what Snak knows from his parents tis that 'What meants to be will eventually be". At some point you have to let go and let what’s meant to be, 'be'. Snack thinks LightHearts decision to travel is a good thing and that living life to the fullest is the best decision LightHeart has done."
I then offer my paw.
"As long as LIghtHeart is with us, Snack will do his best to make LightHearts life good and Snacks hopes Lightheart pony have a good life."

564862

>>564861
"That is a kind thing of you to say."
Take his paw.
"I am happy to be spending time with ya'll. There is no lack of adventure so far, it seems."

564863

>>564862
"LightHeart is welcome, everyone is glad that Light Heart is with us to share this adventure." I nod as I shake your hoof.

I then scratch my head and grin.
"Does Snack said it correctly? Snack is still not good at pony language and diction."

564864

>>564863
I chuckle.
"Close enough for me, I do not mind as long as I understand what you are trying to convey."

564865

>>564864
"Snack is trying best to speak fluently but still have a hard time getting right words corrects. Snack is a bit embarrased about it to be honest. Thankfully Snack is here to practice his language." I grin.

564866

>>564865
"Oh I am sure you will learn in time. I would not worry too much about it. Learning Prench and Germane was no easy task either for me."

564867

>>564866
"Snack didnt know there are that many pony language, Snack didnt know LightHeart knows that many." I scratch my head.

"Say, can LightHeart pony teach Snack to talk fluently?"

564868

>>564867
I cock my head.
"Perhaps. Though in fairness simply listening to and speaking a language are the best ways to train your lingual skills."

564869

>>564868
I think for a moment.
"Hmmm.. that is so true pony. Snack didnt think of it that way."

564870

>>564869
I nod.
"So you see, you were learning all along."

564871

>>564870
I grin.
"LightHeart is correct, Snack is just wary and embarrassed. I mean once we arrive at Canterlot, the pony capital. Snack thinks the citizens will make fun of the group for hauling someone like Snack along."

564872

>>564871
"There is time left yet, Canterlot is still a ways away."

564873

>>564872
I fumble.
"If that is true then Snack has lots more time to practice, and that is good."
"Has LigthHeart pony been to Canterlot?"

564874

>>564873
"I have not, no. I quite look forward to seeing the city, I have heard so very much about it."

564875

>>564874
"All Snacks knows about Canterlot is that we trade powdered gems that we produce in the fort that goes straight to the city, as for what the powdered gems is used is something Snack didnt know." I shrug.

564876

>>564875
"… Interesting that Equestria would trade with the diamond dogs. I would have thought relations to be quite hostile."

564877

>>564876
I scratch my head staring at the fire.
"Stardust fort is one of few forts housed in a mine full of high quality powdered gems, not to mention very rich iron ore just on the other side of the foal mountain. Traders are numerous back then and many came from different places not only Canterlot. Snack only knows some trader came from Canterlot because the other dog trader told us that they came there. Its quite lucrative back then if you ask Snack. We trade raw powdered gem, normal gems and quality steel weapons for food, lumber, clothing, wine and other… commodities.. "

564878

>>564877
"'Other commodities'?"

564879

>>564878
I lower my gaze and stare at the fire intently.
"Slaves… fort is growing fast back then and more labor is needed to unearth minerals. All kinds are needed."
"Earth ponies and Buffalo's are usually destined to work at the underground mushroom farms where they are quite good at cultivating mushrooms that the fort is able to create surplusses that can last for six months."
"Unicorns are the most needed, mining normal gems are piece-cake since gems are big enough that even a dumb dog can find it with no hardship. Powdered gems are a different story since most of it are scattered in the earth and one can easily miss it, it takes months just to get an ounce if one relies on traditional methods of candle light mining. That is why Unicorns who are in the fort are.. forcefully trained to find the powdered gems, the job that takes months are usually shortened to a week."
"As for the other race's…. "

I gulp as I look at you, with flattened ears and cowering a bit.
"Uhmmm… sorry.. Snack should not tell LightHeart, maybe Snack is scaring her."

564880

>>564879
Look a little confused.
"Are you saying slave trade is legal in Equestria? Or at least tolerated or ignored?"

564954

>>564879
>>564880
It is not, but more remote Forts tend to get away with it. The Forts are technically not parts of Equestria, but tolerated. In these chaotic time it's far easier for Dogs to take slaves without response from law enforcement.

564964

>>564954
Hey there~
Does Silver want to talk?

564972

>>564964
Sure.
He's by the fire.
He seemed to be a little flustered earlier when talking to Amber.

564974

>>564972
Shuffle closer.
"Quite the display the two of you made back there. I do not quite think I ever saw anything like it before."

564975

>>564974
"It was not our display.
It was the Saviour's, we merely asked for her help."

564977

>>564975
"You did work for it. I would say it was yours as much as Hers."

564980

>>564977
"Everything we achieve is by Her grace. She guides us to our path. She brought me and Amber together. Our work and training is trivial compared to that."

564982

>>564980
I chuckle.
"Of course. You seem very devoted to her, as do miss Amber and Star. She must be quite popular in the Empire. Perhaps even more so than Celestia here in Equestria…"

564989

>>564982
"I think at the moment, in this troubling time for Equestria, that's true. Cadance saved the Empire personally in its most dire moment.
When I was still traveling with the other paladins through Equestria I met many ponies who were disillusioned with the Sisters. Who felt they had abandoned them. It saddened me greatly."

564990

>>564989
"I see. … What do you know of Dixie, if you do not mind me asking?"

564991

>>564990
'That it lays in the New World…not much more."

565001

>>564991
"Hmmm. Well I suppose you did miss a few things during the Empire's disappearance. What I can tell you pertaining religion is that the ponies back home do not follow Celestia or Luna. We do not have paladin orders like yours either. We do have a religious order which is somewhat similar to the Equestrian Inquisition, I suppose, but they are Solars as well."

565006

>>565001
He looks puzzled.
"That sounds very dangerous to me."

565009

>>565006
"Hm? What do you mean?"

565011

>>565009
"Who leads you then? I haven't heard of any other alicorns beside Cadance, Luna or Celestia."

565012

>>565011
"Why, the governor of course, sugar!"

565016

>>565012
"But he's a normal pony.
In the Empire we had regular ponies as Kings and Queens and look what happened to us."

565018

>>565016
I chuckle.
"One tyrant king immediately causes you to shun normal ponies in positions of power? That seems rather harsh."

565020

>>565018
"Normal ponies are flawed.
Their rule is therefore flawed as well."

565024

>>565020
"So, you would give up any sense of independent thought to throw yourself at the hooves of the first being who claims to be perfect? The governor is an elected individual, not an absolute monarch."
Typical paladin.

565025

>>565024
"And how do the good ponies of Dixie decide who to elect?"

565030

>>565025
"By electing the pony they think will make a good governor of course, darling."

565031

>>565030
"And how do they know who will be the best governor?"

565033

>>565031
"By looking how they handle their own plantation of course. Or how they fared as minor politicians first."

565035

>>565033
"So in your eyes, handling a society is the same as handling a plantation."

565037

>>565035
"Do not be mistaken, Dixian plantations are quite massive and have many ponies working in them. So far this method governance has yielded us no tyrants or civil wars, so I would daresay it is quite effective."

565044

>>565037
"But society is not a plantation.
It is much more than that.
If it is ruled like a plantation, it will do the same thing as a plantation.
Produce products and have everypony working according to what the boss wants.
Cadance guides us to find our own place in the world and serve society however that may be.
How is there room for that in a society run like a plantation?"

565045

>>565044
"Your concern for my home is appreciated, but I assure you that Dixie is not run like a plantation. As a leader, one needs competence and experience, and running a business is a good way to achieve both of these things. Using this experience and applying it to differing situations, like running a government, requires flexibility, another good trait for a leader. At the end of the day, the governor's power is far more limited than say Celestia's. We trust ourselves and our family to provide guidance, not the government. The governor may decide where to build schools and how to settle disputes, but our destiny is in our own hooves. That is a tenet of freedom."

565046

>>565045
He frowns but nods.
"I, well I don't agree with it, but if you think it's right it can't be too bad, miss Heart.
But why did you ponies turn away from the Princesses in the first place?"

565049

>>565046
"Because we wished for independence. More religious freedom. Less taxes. Liberty, darling."

565052

>>565049
"But if the Princesses allowed you to leave, didn't you have liberty already?"

565053

>>565052
"They still meddled with our business far too much. Their paladins and inquisitors bothered us, the high Canterlotian nobility looked down on us… Dixie is mostly an earth pony nation. We do not fit in with Equestria, it was bound to crack."

565064

>>565053
He scrunches.
"Are Dixian ponies happy?"

565067

>>565064
"Why of course, sugar! As long as we have our good health, our family and our friends, how can we not be?"

565069

>>565067
"That's important then."

565070

>>565069
"Good to hear ya'll value the same things in life then. Thank you for the chat, it was most enlightening."

565072

>>565070
"It was. Thank you, miss Heart."

565074

After some rest and food you make your way through the cave.
You're greeted by the Everfree Forest again.
But it seems very different from the other parts.
The air smells different, there's a slight hint of sulfur. There's a slight brown haze in the air.
The trees and grass are brown and old.
Ram's Fissure is not far…

Smile a bit.
At least they can bring cheer even here.

565106

>>565095
Inferni doesn't seem to like it either.

You make your way towards Ram's Fissure.
You pass a foul river. The forest is eerie, you do not hear any sounds of nature.
Just silence.
Finally you reach a clearing next to a hill. Even here without trees, the sun doesn't shine as brightly as it should.
The ground is cracked and smokes as if some massive being tore it apart.
Carved on a petrified tree nearby you see the Mark of Grogar. Underneath it the 3 Fates. And underneath it, the tale.

Tale of the First Key
Spoiled Blight, exiled and scorned by her kin, roamed the Everfree.
In the shade of the trees of blood, she looked to the sky and cursed her fate.
"Light has forsaken me, for I venture the paths none dare thread and seek what none dare seek.
Eternally I swear loyalty to any god who values power and ambition as I do!"
Now the ground split and from the depths of the earth came Grogar, the Supreme Judge.
"Cunning Blight, show me your prowess and the secrets of life and death will be yours forever."
Eagerly Blight spoke the First Word and became the first necromancer.

565107

>>565106
Walk closer.
"Here we are then…"

565111

>>565106
>>565107
"Now we only need to find this Blight lady!"

565112

>>565106
"Hmm. How remarkable. I have never seen anything like this."
Run my hoof over the petrified tree.

565113

565115

Look around.
"… I don't think we'll get an answer back quickly though."

565117

>>565116
"Not your first word!"

565118

>>565112
At the bottom of the tree you note something else.
Wooden carving of a batpony, only its head sticks out of the ground, with open mouth and bare fangs. It's mouth is a black hole.

565124

>>565117
"Oh! … Who's first word then? Yours?"

565142

565166

I read the text over again.
"It is rather weird… the text refers to this pony as both Spoiled Bright and Cunning Blight."

565171

None of the words you've spoken so far seem to have any effect.
Silver takes a look at the batpony carving.

565182

>>565171
"Whatcha thinking about?"

565185

Star joins as well.
"Trees of blood…."

Inferni bites and blood drips into the batponies mouth.
You hear a sickening gurgling sound.
For a few moments nothing happens.
Then the leaves of the petrified trees slowly turn red.
The foliage on the hill partly starts shining red as well.
Only part of it. 2 lines appear.
One leading upwards the hill on a steep risky climb. The other stays near ground level, marking a path around the hill.

"Whelp." I gulp.
I then look at Star and go near her.
"Want to jump together? Snack promise Snack will hold Star."

565362

>>565361
"Okay."
You jump together.

565363

>>565356
>>565359
I scrunch.
"Silver?"

565364

>>565363
He grabs your hoof.
"On 3."
….
"Three."

565366

>>565364
J-jump in

565368

>>565364
Jump in shieldfirst.

565374

You jump into the deep dark and fall down…

PAUSE

566107

You fall into the dark for what seems like minutes until you suddenly seem to slow down….
Softly you fall into a pool down below.
As you resurface you see a shore a bit further.

Melody see >>560800

There's a lantern there being held by the statue of a cloaked pony.
It marks a cave entrance.

566109

>>566107
I feel like a pretty mermaid.

Swim to the shore.
"Powder is going to get wet… how unfortunate."

566111

>>560800
"So what, I can take the mask now?"

566112

>>566107
Swim ashore and shake the water off of me.

566114

>>566107
Help Star and myself get to shore.
"Is everybody here?"

566115

>>566107
My armor is going to get weeeeet!
swim to shore.

566118

>>566107
Swim swim.

566133

>>566111
They all look at each other.
"Eh, go ahead. The joke was getting old anyway. What was your name again?"

>>566109
>>566112
>>566114
>>566118
>>566115
In the distance next to the pool you see a field of spikes and 2 holes above it.
It's clear what a wrong choice might have meant.

566135

>>566133
Ouch, I guess.

566136

>>566133
"Joke? Ah, you know what- never the hell mind."
I take the mask.
"Name's Melody, by the way."

566140

>>566133
A boo boo on our butts!

566143

>>566133
"How dreadful."
Now… where to move onto next?

566147

>>566143
"Inside cave." I point at the cave.

566151

>>566136
"Melody, you might have the body of a pony, but the heart of a griffon.
If you want to, you can stay with us and sing and feast until Ramnarok comes."

>>566143
>>566147
Yes, the cave seems to be the only way forward.

566153

>>566133
Ech. Trust Grogar to have lethal riddles…
>>566147
"Let's get moving, then."

566154

>>566133
Ouch…

Is there a path from here?

566155

>>566147
>>566151
Alright, let's follow the cave then. Hope my gun still works…

566157

>>566151
Produce a torch and get moving.
"Stay close." I told everybody.

566158

>>566154
Yes, the cave.

566159

>>566158
Yes, the cave.

566164

>>566158
We should head there then.

566183

>>566151
"Partying with gryphons in the afterlife? Hell yeah! Shame I got places to be though, so I gotta decline."

566185

>>566183
"May the wind be at your back."
You have the mask.
Time to leave.

>>566164
>>566159
>>566157
>>566155
>>566154
>>566153
You enter the cave.
At regular points there's a statue of a hooded pony holding a bright lantern.
The walls are decorated with carvings.

566186

>>566185
Observe the carvings, anything I can decypher?

566187

>>566185
Inspect carvings!

566188

>>566185
What kind of carvings?

566189

>>566185
Inspect the carvings along the wall. More text, or simply pictures?

566190

>>566185
The others are inspecting the carvings, I will inspect the statue.

566191

>>566185
Aww fuckin yeah
Let's blow this joint.
I head out and back to the zebra encampment.

566192

>>566186
>>566187
>>566188
>>566189
The first carving depicts a terrible skeleton pony sitting on his throne. He is being served by monsters and at his hooves ponies are writhing in pain.
There's a text underneath it.
Star looks at it.
"It says KRONOX LORD OF THE DEAD. It's High Equestrian!"

There are more carvings.

>>566190
At first glance it's a hooded pony.
But you're unsure since the face is invisible beneath the hood.
It reminds you of the clothing of the Priest of Grogar.

>>566191
You quickly make your way back to the zebra encampment.
The cheer as you triumphantly show the mask.
One of the zebras opens the door of the middle hut and motions you to come in.

566193

>>566192
Riddle

566194

>>566192
Pat him on the head and chuckle.

566195

>>566192
Go and inspect the other carving as I guide Star.

566196

>>566192
"He sounds evil!"

566197

>>566192
I'll keep my silence.
Inspect the other carvings. Until I run across Spoiled Blight."

566198

>>566192
What's the next carving?

566199

"There! Got the mask, like you asked. Now will you help me find my friend?"

566200

>>566194
It feels cold to touch.

>>566195
>>566196
>>566197
The next painting depicts a ram in the center.
He seems to be speaking to a group of ponies, griffons, diamond dogs and zebras who cheer him on.
"GROGARS REVOLT" says Star.

>>566199
You ask this as you step inside and see the giant talking tribal mask inside.
"YES YOU HAVE DONE WELL"

566201

>>566200
"Grogar? Isnt that the ram of death?"
Lets see what is the next carving.

566202

>>566200
"Revolt? That's new."

566203

>>566200
Oh dear.

Just follow the party then.

566204

>>566200
"Yeah. Great. Now, how the fuck are you gonna help me find my friend exactly?"

566205

>>566204
"SHE IS ALREADY HERE"

>>566203
>>566202
>>566201
The last carving shows the ram and the griffons fighting the monsters and Kronox, who is thrown into a pit.
"GROGAR IS VICTORIOUS" says Star.

The tunnel seems to end.
You see a giant room in the distance.
The entrance is flanked by 2 statues holding lanterns.

566206

>>566205
"Wait wha-"
I spin around in all directions look to see if I spy Vilinia anywhere. How the fuck did I miss her when I came inside?

566207

>>566205
"What a charming tale."

566208

>>566205
Hmm.
Into the entrance.

566209

>>566205
"So they killed a god of death?"

566210

>>566205
"This place is dedicated to Grogar obviously."
I look at the tunnel entrance.
"Lets see whats on the others ide."

566211

>>566206
She's not inside.
The Mask makes a motions as if it rolls its eyes.
"IN THE CAMP"

>>566207
>>566208
You enter a large chamber.
There's a river flowing in the middle and a bridge of ice over it.
On the other side is a giant statue.
It seems like a court.
At the bottom is a large closed door.
It slowly opens as you enter the chamber.
Above it, as if watching over it, are one pony, one female zebra and one griffon.
Above them sitting on a throne is a statue of Grogar.

566212

>>566209
"So it seems. Raises a few questions, does it not?"

566213

>>566211
"Oh. Well, alright then."
I head out and go find Vilina.

566214

>>566211
Details on that pony, zebra and gryphon please.

566215

>>566211
I'll stand at the foot of the bridge. Peer into the river.

566216

>>566211
Spooky! Cross the river.

566217

>>566212
"If you kill death then nopony dies.
They ain't killed it."

566218

>>566211
>>566210
I stand between these strange looking cultist and Star as I follow the others.
Anything I can spot that is unusual about the place?
Supreme surivor spot

566219

>>566211
Walk closer.
This is too spooky for my tastes…
Hold me, Inferni

566220

>>566217
"They killed 'death' and replaced it, seems more like it."

566221

>>566220
"But I wouldn't die if they threw me in a well.
Why would death?"

566222

>>566221
"You would if you had jumped in the wrong hole back there, sugar."

566223

>>566222
"Eh, I'm tougher than I look.
And I got a shield!"
Proudly bang on it.

566224

>>566219
He stays close by you.

>>566215
The water is dark and flows fast.
It is icy cold to touch.

>>566213
You leave and see Vilina among the zebras she looks around dazed and confused.

>>566214
The pony is a mare.
She is dressed in a greek style toga.
The zebra is a mare as well.
She is dressed in a northern style robe.
The griffon is armored and looks serious.

Enter the door?

566225

>>566224
Yes. But open it veeeeery carefully!

566226

>>566224
"Vilina! Vilinaaa!"
I hurry over to her.
"Vilina. The fuck is wrong with you? Do you know how hard it was to find your prissy ass?"

566227

>>566224
Head held straight, I'll head over the bridge and knock on the door.

566228

>>566218
>>566224
Please.

>>566224
Enter the door.

566229

>>566224
Are they alive?

566230

>>566228
Nothing unusual.
Except the giant ass statues.

>>566229
They're statues.

566231

>>566230
Ah.

Follow the others then.

>>566223
"If you say so, darling."

566232

>>566230
Then lets not waste time anymore here enter the door.

566233

>>566224
Enter.

566234

You enter another tunnel.
At the end stands a hooded pony with a lantern.
This time however, it is no statue.
As you approach he says "You have arrived"

>>566226
She looks over you.
"Huh…Melody…wait, where am I?"

566235

>>566234
"Hey! Who are you?"

566236

>>566234
"Expected?"

566238

>>566234
All my bits it's the Grogar Priest.

566239

>>566234
"Dead- and don't you start fucking panicking again. Sit down and listen."
I wait for her to sit down and make sure that she's not going to do something stupid like run off.

566240

>>566234
I'll nod.
"If you were expecting us, then you know what, and whom, we're here for."

566241

>>566234
I just frown at the sight.
Anything she is carrying or anything I can spot in the area that looks treathening or suspicious?
Supremesurvivalspot etc.

566245

>>566234
"You were expecting us?"

566247

>>566241
The pony, you can't be sure if it's a mare or a stallion, looks definitely threatening.
All scary.

>>566240
>>566238
>>566236
>>566235
"Yes, we met before."

>>566239
She sits down.
"Ugh. I was walking in the forest…and suddenly the world turned inside out and now I'm here…"

566248

>>566247
"Vilanna?"

566249

>>566247
"Ah, yes. Topside."
I'll pause a moment.
"So, let us get to brass tacks, honored gravekeeper."

566250

>>566247
"… I see. How interesting. We have come far, have we not?"

566253

>>566247
"That's because you…"
I sit down myself and vaguely gesture my hooves as I try to come up with an explanation.
"That's because you didn't accept your death or some shit, so you were lost in the Forest of Fuck If I Can Remember. What should have happened was, you were guided down here and then you go to Port Charon where you get ferried to the real afterlife."
I bark out a laugh.
"Worked out better with you running around with your tail between your legs though. Friends are coming to take us back."

566255

>>566247
>>566249
Chuckle.
"Eh, I knew it."

566256

>>566247
"Uh… alright. Nice to see you again?"

566257

>>566250
"You have. Welcome to the Temple of Grogar. The only true temple to him in the world."

>>566249
He nods.
"You have come here and by doing so you have proven you are worthy of an audience within Grogars Palace, what comes from it, I cannot foresee, but I can guide you these last few steps. Into the Underworld and to his Palace."

>>566248
The pony shakes his head.

>>566253
She looks up.
"they…are coming?"

566259

>>566257
"Thank you. And, come what may, I am grateful to you."

566260

>>566257
I'll keep quiet… this is not very natural.

566261

>>566257
I nod.
"That's what they told me. When? Fuck if I know. But soon, probably."
I laugh again.
"Knowing Soil, he probably got started while they were still talking to me! Maybe trying to dig a hole down here."

566262

>>566255
>>566256
>>566249
I look at them.
"Who is it?"

>>566257
My face flashed in excitement.
"We have arrived! Snack thought we will be stuck forever at the other side!"

566263

>>566257
"Honored. Thank you for allowing us in for this… unique opportunity."

566264

>>566262
"He is the priest who oversaw both Melody and VIlina's bodies."

566266

>>566262
"The gravekeeper pony!"

566268

>>566264
>>566266
I scratch my head.
"Snack dont remember him." I grumble.

566269

>>566262
"The priest pony! Turns out he has a second job, I really hope he isn't moonlighting!"

566271

>>566269
I turn to you.
"What does 'moonlighting' mean?"

566272

>>566271
"Taking a second job that is more of a hobby."

566273

>>566271
"A second secret job!"

566274

"Follow me."
He silently trots further into the tunnel.
You come into a grand solemn hall carved into the rock.
The walls are stacked with books and a few ponies looking similar to your guide are quietly studying.
"Please be very still as to not disturb the Priests in study and meditation."

>>566263
He nods.
"Here we study the afterlife and the intricacies of death"

>>566261
She chuckles.
"I can't believe they're really coming…"

566275

>>566274
Follow in silence.

566278

>>566272
>>566273
I scratch my head.
"Oh."
"Wait a minute, does he got double pay for this?"

>>566274
I look in marvel.
"How long has this been place been here?"

566279

>>566274
In silence we wander then.

566280

>>566278
I'll simply shrug.

566281

>>566274
The clattering of armor will be my only sound.

566282

>>566274
I shrug.
"They said something about you getting cut short before you had a chance to live your life or something."

566283

>>566274
Walk silently.

566285

>>566278
The Guide remains silent.

He enters a large door.
Inside is a large room with stone beds, a large statue of Grogar and hundreds of candles.
He closes the door.

>>566278
"For thousands of years, ever since Grogars ascension."

>>566282
She nods.
"Do you think it is possible?"

566287

>>566285
I'll cast a quick glance around the room, but wait for the priest to speak.

566288

>>566285
"Snack see's." I nod.
"What is this room for?" I keep up an inquisitive look and observe the area.

566290

>>566285
"Freaky magic."

566293

>>566285
"They talked to me, yo. Plus, don't you know the legend of Poneus? 'Went to the Underworld to save his wife, only to be fucked over by the gods in the end because they're giant dicks'?"
I shrug.
"Something like that. Classics was a long time ago. But anyways- sure it's possible."

566294

>>566285
"Oh my. I love the candles."

566295

>>566287
>>566288
>>566290
>>566294
"Before we start the Ritual, is there something you'd like to know about this place, the Underworld or Grogar, once we begin, we cannot go back."

>>566293
"I..I sure hope so…"

566297

>>566295
"I had assumed that would be the case."

566298

>>566295
"Uhhmmm.. anything we need to protect ourselves from anything that is to come?"

566300

>>566295
"Did Grogar ever let people out of his realm before?"

566301

>>566295
"Wait, I wanna go back with Vilina and Melody!"

566303

>>566301
"I think what he meant, Soil, was that once we start, the only way out is when we finish."

566305

>>566295
"How does one avoid going to the bad places of the afterlife when you die?"

566308

>>566295
"Um…"
I bite my lip.
"… Is Sombra locked up here somewhere?"

566320

>>566298
"No. You cannot take anything with you."

>>566300
"Yes. I do not know why however."

>>566303
>>566301
He nods.

>>566305
"In each and every one of us is a moral compass. Deep inside us, underneath our fears, habits and worries is a voice that says what we should do. Listen to this voice and you'll surely be guided to the center of the Eternal Plains. When we ignore it, our soul grows impure and we cannot enter the Center but can merely watch it from afar. A grim fate. Grogar and his judges can see these impurities clear as day and therefore can always judge correctly.
Many religions seek to guide ponies to this goal. But at their core, we have the best guide within ourselves already.
"

>>566308
"Yes…"

566322

>>566320
I furrow my brows and scrunch.

566324

>>566320
Gasp.
"Not even my shield?"

566325

>>566295
"Stop being such a cynic, goddamn. You're really bringing me down."

566326

>>566320
"So we enter naked, then. As we came into this world."
I'll think a moment.
"Will our possessions be safeguarded until our return?"

566327

>>566320
Nod.
"Thank you."

566331

>>566326
>>566324
"No. You will enter as before you were born. The living cannot enter the Underworld. Only souls can enter."

>>566325
She scrunches.
"Can we go? I'm getting creeped out by these zebras."

566332

>>566320
O-Oh dear…

Take a pill.
"Not even my medicine?"

566334

>>566331
"Uh…"
Look at Indy.
"Do dragons go to heaven?"

566335

>>566320
"The voice inside snack tells him not to trust you." I frown.
I look at him a bit confused.
"Is there a way to protect our loved one's then? Snack just wanted to make sure none of his friends will be hurt or taken away." I give him a look of distrust.

566336

>>566331
"Will our bodies and possessions be kept safe?"

566337

>>566331
I roll my eyes and give a small chuckle.
"Not like anywhere else is any better. This is the Underworld. Land of the dead? But whatever, we should probably head back to Port Charon in case our friends decide to show up soon. C'mon."
I hold out a hoof to help her up.

566338

>>566331
Keep scrunching as I take my armor off.

566340

>>566331
"What will happen to our bodies?"

566341

>>566331
"Ah… I see. Very well then."

566342

>>566340
"That is not Snacks concern, Snacks concern is what will happen to us."

566345

>>566336
"Your bodies will remain here. Silent and undisturbed."

>>566335
"Should you want no part in this ritual, you may remain here to ensure the safety of their bodies. I have to warn you that you may not touch the bodies as they are in the shade of death or they might die. Nor are you allowed to leave this room. It might be a long wait."

>>566334
"Yes. All souls go to the Eternal Plains. All souls are judged.

>>566338
"you do not have to take your armor off if you'd rather not."

>>566340
"You will drink from the cup of death and lay down on these stone beds. Your body will go into the shade of death and your soul will travel to the Underworld. I shall drink as well and be your guide"

>>566332
"You will not need it."

>>566337
"Lead the way."

566347

>>566345
"Yeah! We get to stick together in this pal!"
Look excited at Indy…
Then stop for a second and put him down, a smile on my face.
"But you ain't gotta come if you don't wanna."

566348

>>566345
I lead her out of the zebra encampment and back to Port Charon.
"Aaaand here we are. This is where you were supposed to go rather than the forest."

566349

>>566345
WIth that reply I look at everyone specially Star.
"Will everybody take part of the ritual?"

566350

>>566345
"That doesn't sound very safe, or comforting."

566351

>>566345
"Then I only have two questions. Where will we find Grogar so that we may request Melody and Vilina's souls to once again enter the world of the living, and when do we start?"

566352

>>566345
Stop.
Nod at him or her or whatever.
"Give us the cup! I want Melody and Vilina back already!"

566354

>>566347
He nods.
"I won't leave Dad."

>>566349
Star nods. "I need to see it."

>>566350
"The Underworld isn't comforting."

>>566351
"I shall guide you to his Palace. We begin as soon as you're ready."

>>566352
He gets up.
"I will return shortly."

He leaves the room and closes the door.
You're alone.

566355

>>566345
"I understand now. Our mortal form will stay behind. Very well, this will be quite the experience."

566356

>>566352
>>566351
>>566350
>>566347
I grin.
"So everyone is ready to participate."

>>566354
I then nod at Star.
"Now what shall we do?"

566357

>>566354
Pat him on the head, scuffing around the helmet a bit.

Look over at the others, in silence, a smile on my face.
"We are gonna save Melody and Vilina."

566358

>>566354
I'll sit.
And wait.
"So, Silver, Star. Are you coming with us, or can we trust our bodies to you?"

566361

566363

>>566357
"Yes we will!"

>>566358
I nod at Warren.
"Star will come."

566364

>>566358
Star nods.
"I need to see it."

Silver merely looks on.
"If Amber goes, I go too."

>>566356
"Let's drink of this cup when he's back."

566366

>>566361
The Port is as depressing as ever.
Vilina looks at the Myr and shudders.

566368

>>566364
I examine the cup, is it gold?

566369

>>566364
I smile at Silver.
"Thanks!"

566370

>>566363
I'll nod in return.
>>566364
"Once we're on the other side, try not to become separated."

566371

>>566366
"Now

"We wait."

566372

>>566370
"We wont." I smile at you.

566373

>>566364
M-Muh gun… I need to make sure it's safe. Can I hide it somewhere?

Roll #1 2 = 2

566376

>>566371
You can talk to some other souls or Vilina.

>>566373
No.

>>566373
>>566372
>>566370
>>566369
>>566368
The Priest enters again with a kettle and a sack.
From the sack he hooves all of you a silber cup.
He then opens the kettle, inside is a sickening green fluid.
Undisturbed he fills his cup.
"Those if you who go, fill your cups."

566377

>>566376
I'll fill my cup from the kettle, and then assume a more comfortable position on the floor.

566378

>>566376
Filled my cup.

566380

>>566376

"This is fuckin' boooriiiiing."
Who's here?

Actually, anyone I know?
I can think of at least a few dudes who might've caught a bad one. Domestic terrorists don't last long in this climate after all.

566381

>>566376
Fill, duh!
And help Indy if he can't fill his.

566383

>>566380
Roll.

>>566377
There's enough stone beds for all of you.
Unless you feel like laying on the floor.

>>566381
You help him out.
He grins.

The Priest nods and without hesitating drinks his cup and goes lay down on a stone bed.

566384

>>566376
Oh dear… here's hoping it won't be stolen.

Fill 'er up.

566385

>>566383
'1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

566387

>>566383
Stone bed it is. And down my cup.

566388

>>566383
Well, follow suit.

566389

>>566376
>>566383
Follow his example!

566390

>>566376
Here goes…fill my cup.
"Wish me luck, Inferni."

566393

>>566383
Do the same thing.
"Hello death my old friend…"

566394

>>566393
"You know death?
Is he nice like stories say, or mean like some books write?"
This would be a great topic if we weren't on our deathbeds.

566396

>>566394
"I would say… very neutral."

566397

>>566383
Down the hatch it goes.

566400

>>566396
"How…"
Yawn and close my eyes.
"Dull…"

566403

You all drink your cup.
The drink tastes bitter and leaves a bad aftertaste. Several grimace as they drink and put their cups down.

As you lay down for several minutes nothing happens. Then you suddenly feel a coldness spreading through your body, your heartbeat increases.
You try to move or speak, but feel that your body has become completely paralyzed.
Suddenly an instinctual fear arises as your body realizes it is about to die.

>>566397
Inferni rests on your body.

>>566385
You look around.
Holy shit, you know that guy.
It was one of those security buffalo's in Vanhoover. One of those you got past to enter the Arena VIP room.

566407

>>566403
…Oh fucking-
"Hey. Hey! How the hell did you wind up down here?"

566408

>>566403
But how much fear?
'1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

566409

>>566408
>>566403
"Eh, I'm chill."

566411

>>566403
W-Well this is not unsettling at all…

Keep calm and carry on.

566412

>>566403
I made this choice. But remember this feeling, as it may help point our way back, once we free Vilina and Melody from death.

566413

>>566403
I don't like this…

566417

>>566403
Before drinking I hold Star's hoof as we lie down.
Hold Star's hoof hard and stare at her in a reassuring way until the end.

566418

>>566403
Inferni is here, with his warmth… and we are doing this for friends. I am not afraid.

566420

>>566407

Your fear or worries are irrelevant as the poison takes hold of you.
Your vision goes dark…
And suddenly you see again. But the ceiling is closer by.
As you look around you find yourself naked and floating above your bodies.
You see each other.
Your bodies are pale and don't seem to breath.

>>566407
He looks up.
"Hmmm,
I was a security officer. I failed and my boss, that psycho, had me killed."

566422

>>566420
Look for the priest. He is our guide here.

566424

>>566420
"Your boss?"
I groan.
"That fucker. Know where he is?"

566425

>>566420
Am I still holding Star?
Look around and try to speak.
"Hey! Can you hear me?"

566427

>>566420
Where… is the priest?

566430

566432

>>566420
"This feels wrong…"

566433

>>566420
"This feels reaaaally weird."

566434

>>566430
>>566430
"Soil!" I grin

566435

>>566434
"Yo pal!"
Wave at him with enthusiasm.

566436

>>566422
>>566427
He's not here.

Suddenly all of you feel a pull as if gravity switched on. But you're not being pulled towards the floor you're being sent flying through the wall, through the temple, into the forest. The forest, Ponyville, farms pass around you at blinding speed.

>>566424
"Probably alive. Say…don't I know you? Wait…you're one of those who fooled us…"
He gives a sad smile.

566437

>>566435
"We're floating!" I grin.

566438

>>566436
We must be heading towards where all souls go… well, don't keep us waiting, death. Bring us closer.

566444

>>566436
3FAST5ME
Just hold out… it'll be over soon. I'm sure of it.

566445

>>566436
I wince.
"Yeah… sorry. Fuuuck… I didn't know he was /that/ kind of rich motherfucker. I thought he was just a dick, not legit evil. Fuuuuck man…"

566447

>>566440
[font2]eeeeeeeeee[font2]

566448

>>566436
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

566451

>>566444
AS you fly, you realize your calm demeanor has become meaningless as you can't have a heart attack anymore.

>>566445
"No hard feelings. In my culture we die when it is our time. As I sit here, I realize how meaningless our differences really are. We are both souls. And we are both about to be judged."

You soar into the grand forest and fly straight into a dark cave. Here your hooves softly hit the ground. The Guide stands here with a lantern.
"Welcome to the Underworld"

PAUSE

566453

>>566451
I still have a reputation to uphold!

566454

>>566453
Isn't it freeing, not having to worry about dieing?

566673

>>566451
"Neat."

566674

>>566451
Where am I?

566675

>>566454
Of course it is. But I'm probably thinking about others things right now. Like holy fucking shit I'm going to visit the afterlife to talk to a god.

566676

>>566451
"It doesn't seem very welcoming."

566677

>>566451
I'll shuffle my soulstuff about a little. This odd weightlessness, like being in a dive that doesn't end, is unsettling.
"Lead on when you're ready, Gravekeeper."

566685

>>566451
"Where will Gravekeeper bring us? Can Gravekeeper tell us?

566694

>>566451
I give a sad laugh.
"Actually… I'm getting out of here. Friends are coming down to bring me back up."

566701

>>566694
"Ah…"
He looks down, saddened.

>>566674
You're a soul in a cave leading into the Underworld.

>>566685
>>566677
>>566676
>>566675
>>566673
>>566674
Without a word, the Guide motions you to follow him through the dark cave, his lantern is the only light here.

566704

>>566701
Following.

566705

>>566701
Trot trot.

566706

>>566701
I follow him.

566708

>>566701
"Goodness me, this place could certainly use a candle or two."

566709

>>566701
I laugh and give him a playful slug on the shoulder.
"You could probably come with. Get payback on your shitstain of a boss."

566712

>>566701
I just pout.
"Not talkative hmmph… " Followed silently.

566713

>>566701
Follow

566714

>>566709
He lifts his head.
"You really think so?"

>>566708
>>566706
>>566705
>>566704
>>566713

You see a light in the distance.
It is too dim for daylight but a light nonetheless.
There seems to be a large open gate.
Next to it sits the shadow of a huge 3 headed dog. Cerberus.
He first growls menacingly at your approach, but stops as he sniffs and gives Mabel a big lick.

566717

>>566714
>>566713
I grin at the sight as I cower.
"Hehe… dog likes you."

566718

>>566714
"Well, I guess he likes you, at least, Mabel."
Flutter my wings a little.

566719

>>566714
I back off, but laugh when I see him lick Mabel.
"Aww, what a cutie."

566721

>>566714
>>566713
"… Interesting."

566722

>>566714
"Why not? Fuck if I know what it involves, but wanting to come back to enact justice should be plenty reason enough, yeah?"
I bark out a laugh.

566723

>>566714
"Hey I remember you!"

566726

>>566717
>>566721
"Looks like he does."

>>566714
Chuckle and scratch one of his chins.
"Hey there… whooo's a good boy? You are!"

566727

>>566723
>>566726
"You… met this creature before?"

566728

>>566727
Nod.
"Yes, he was being a bit unruly, but he just wanted to play!"

566732

>>566728
"I… see. How remarkable."

566733

>>566723
He looks at you and he barks.
Woof woof.
Giving you and Indy a lick as well.

The Guide waits at the gates.

>>566722
"…You're not pulling my tail, are you?"

566735

>>566728
"…When was that?"
I'll shake my head.
>>566733
Then head towards the guide.

566737

>>566733
Scratch the chin of all three heads of Cerberus, then wave him goodbye and go towards the guide.

>>566735
"When we were headed towards Ponyville. He just wanted to play fetch!"

566739

>>566733
I shake my head.
"Not gonna do that twice."

566742

>>566735
>>566737
Follow.
"This creature was walking around near Ponyville? Oh my goodness… why did it go there if it belongs here?"

566744

>>566737
"How odd."
>>566742
"I've no idea."

566745

>>566733
>>566737
"Uhhhmmmm…" I look at the creature and look at Star.
"Keep close." I then follow the others toward the gatekeeper.

566750

>>566742
>>566744
"He wasn't supposed to get away. He just got excited and wanted to vent some energy."

566757

>>566750
"Ah. Good he ran across someone who knows how to talk with animals."

566759

>>566733
I walk over to the guide.

566760

>>566757
"I couldn't really play fetch with the tree he wanted me to throw, though."
Snicker a bit.

566769

As you cross the Gates you're greeted with an awesome sight.
The path before you goes straight down stairs for about 100 meters height.
Down below is a giant forest covered with ghostly white flowers. And only one path through it.
To the left you see some small campfires in the forest. To the right, behind the forest you see fields of ice and hills.
The path through the forest seems to lead to a small port near a green river.
The other side of the river is covered in mist, but you see the vague outline of a palace.

The Guide walks down "Do not enter the Forest"

>>566739
"Thank you…you don't know how much this would mean to me…to my family…my son."

566772

>>566769
Nod.
"You don't need to tell me twice."

566774

>>566769
I'll look, but continue to follow the guide.
"I believe we were warned of it before, yes."

566776

>>566769
"Alright."
I keep following him.

566777

>>566769
I chuckle.
"Believe me darling, I have no intentions to."

566780

>>566769
"What's in there?"

566781

>>566769
I nod at this.
"What are those campfires?" I pointed.

566786

>>566780
"Lost souls"

>>566781
"I believe some zebra tribes make their home within the Forest, serving their spirits in death for their help in life."

>>566777
>>566776
>>566775
>>566774
>>566772
The forest consists of dead trees, but the ghostly white flowers seem surprisingly lively.

As you look up you see there's a ceiling way up high, this whole place is like a giant cave.
You're wondering why this place isn't dark like the cave you used to enter here.

566790

>>566786
It's probably magic. Are we through the forest yet?

566793

>>566786
Well, if it was dark, you'd wander into the forest.
"So… what's giving off that light? A particular afterlife? Or just glowing moss?"

566794

>>566786
Magic.

566797

>>566769

Aww shit, that's awkward.
I cough and scratch the back of my neck.
"It's uh- it's no problem. Really."

566798

>>566786
I just stare at the campfire as I follow the guide.
"Snack didnt know Zebra's really care'd and respect their ded this much."

>>566793
>>566794
>>566790
I look at you.
"Bets that ponies wont believe us that we have gone to death's domain and come back to life to tell about it." I chuckle excitedly.

566800

>>566798
I'll chuckle as well.
"Though I think it would be best if we kept this all to ourselves."

566801

>>566798
I shiver.
"I just want to grab Melody and get out of here."

566803

>>566790
>>566794
Good answer.

>>566793
"The magical properties of the river Myr. Here we are."
You enter Port Charon.
It is a small place, not really a village, more of a field with pony souls sitting around, talking or playing or just looking.
The road ends by a small pier.
"It is here that we must wait for the boat."
You see Vilina and Melody here!
Vilina is sitting at the shore silently looking at the Myr.
Melody is talking to a buffalo.

>>566797
"I will be forever in your debt."
He bows his head.

566805

>>566786
>>566800
"Ahw!
But why?"

566806

>>566803
"It's no problem. Really. Honest."
I cough again.

566808

>>566803
"Vilina! Melody!"
>>566805
"Because they'll start asking questions, and wondering why we wouldn't be able to go back and get their family members, lovers, friends… They'd demand nothing short of emptying the underworld of the dead, more or less."

566809

>>566808
"If they can make it here, good luck to them!"
Laugh.

566810

>>566803
"A ship? As spirits… can we not all fly?"

566813

>>566803
"Vilina! Melody!"
Smile!
"We're here!"

566814

>>566803
>>566806
I wave.
"Hey!"

566816

>>566803
Gasp.
"Melody!
Vilina!"

566820

aaaaaa

>>566803
"Hey! Vilina! Melody!"

566823

>>566810
"No. You are bound to the ground of the underworld now. Try yourself."

>>566813
>>566814
>>566816
>>566808
Vilina looks back.
Her eyes are a mixture of surprise and disbelief.

>>566806
"I will stay with you. We can leave with the next boat!"

566825

>>566823
Power ghost tackle both of the mares.
"Told you we'd be back!"

566826

>>566823
Flap flap?

Roll #1 4 = 4

566828

>>566803
>>566806
I run over to Melody.
"Mel!"

566829

>>566826
You're not getting an inch of the ground as much as you flap your ghostly wings.

566830

>>566823
Head over to her and Melody.
"Well, we told you we'd come for you."

566831

>>566823
"I don't think we have to leave with the next boat… I dunno for sure though."

>>566808
>>566813
>>566814
>>566816
>>566820
>>566830
"Huh?-"
I turn around and the appearance of everyone surprises me. I grin and laugh.
"Yo. 'su-"

>>566825
And I'm promptly interrupted by Soil's tackle.
"Oof! Soil!"

>>566828
"Shorty!"

566833

>>566831
Leggo!

566835

>>566829
"… Well I do declare."
Seems like they found who they were looking for… That's good.

566836

>>566814
Star looks around.
"It's so different than I imagined."

>>566820
Silver grins.

>>566830
Vilina nods.
"I can't believe all of you are here….for us…"

566838

>>566831
I frown down at you.
"Shame on you! Mwandishi was so worried he started crying!"

566839

>>566823
Walk over to them.
"We couldn't leave you here, could we?"

566841

>>566831
>>566836
Bounce over to hug Vilina and Melody in a tight shiny hug!

Roll #1 2 = 2

566842

>>566836
"Why wouldn't we be? I think it's safe to say we're friends by this point, and you don't just abandon friends. Besides,"
I'll add with a small smile.
"You still have to teach me how to make decent coffee."

566851

>>566835
"Grogar forbade flying in the Underworld after a large army of pegasi joined forces with Kronox in the Revolt."

>>566842
She cracks a smile.
"I…never thought anypony would do that for me…"

>>566841
Your hug would probably kill them if they weren't dead already.

>>566839
"Thank you…thank you so much…"

566853

>>566833
I ruffle Soil's hair, laughing.
"Nice to see you too man."

>>566836
I grin at both her and the buffalo.
"Told ya."

>>566838
I wince at Shortcake's frown, doubly so at her mention of Mwandishi.
"S- Sorry…"

>>566841
"G- Gah! Too tight! Tootight!"

566856

>>566851
"To be completely honest, I never expected to go marching into the depths of the underworld either. But, here we are. Now we've just got to convince Grogar to release you and Melody back to the world of the living."

566858

>>566853
>>566851
I join in the hug.
"I'm just glad both of you are safe. Come on, let's get out of here."

566859

>>566851
>>566853
Flap my donk ears down.
"Both of you, I'm sorry, by the way…"

566860

>>566851
"Kronox… Kronox… oh of course, the story written in carvings which we saw. That is somewhat saddening… to take away flight from a pegasus."

566861

>>566851
>>566853
I grin innocently and let them go.

>>566856
"Piece of cake!"

566862

>>566831
>>566853
"Glad to see Melody pony that she is with us."

>>566836
"Why, what did Star imagined it to be?"

566873

>>566858
"That's the plan. Though-"
I gesture to the buffalo.
"I did get a plus one. That cool?"

>>566861
I ruffle Amber's hair as well.
"Haha. Very funny. You're a… paladin or whatever! You gotta learn your damn strength Amber."
I grin.
"Silver better watch out too."

>>566859
"Ain't your fault. It's that one fucker's fault. You should've seen his face when he found out he was dead though! Ha! Priceless."

>>566862
"Yo Snack. What's up?"

566876

>>566873
I shrug.
"I guess?"

566877

>>566873
"Who is he?"

566879

>>566873
>>566851
"Uh…"
Look at her and the buffalo.
"Who are you?"

566883

>>566873
"It's spooooky ghostly strength now, not paladin strength!"

566887

>>566873
"I can imagine…. you're taking this rather well."

566888

>>566859
"For what?"

>>566860
"It is said the road to Grogars palace can only be done on one's own hooves. I would be surprised however if this decree is valid within the Eternal Plains as well"

>>566862
"I didn't think it would be this….depressing."

>>566876
>>566877
>>566879
>>566883
The Buffalo steps forward.
"I am Heavyhooves. Pleased to meet you."

566890

>>566888
"Yeah, yeah, but let's get out of here. It's cold."

566891

>>566888
Shake his hoof vigorously.
"Poor Soil."

566892

>>566888
I'll nod to the buffalo.
"You'll pardon me for being blunt, Heavyhooves, but are you simply latching onto our company in hopes of escaping death, or are you legitimately certain that your death was in error?"

566895

>>566876
>>566877
>>566879
"He's-"

>>566888
"…There you go. Guy was killed by his shitstain of a boss back at the arena because something happened."

>>566883
I laugh.
"Yeah. Veeeery spooky ghost strength."

>>566887
I shrug.
"Dead's dead. Nothing you can do about a shitty streak of luck but grab your shit and move on."

566896

>>566892
"Miss Melody told me about her friends who could resurrect her and she invited me Ito come as well."

566897

>>566888
Eternal plains is the place to be from the sounds of it.
"Yes, of course. I would not want to doubt the almighty Grogar, of course."

566898

>>566888
"Oh… yes thats true." I nod.
"Dont worry, now that we found Villana and Melody pony we can now get out of here." I smile

566900

>>566896
I'll give Melody a look for a moment.
"The best we can do is attempt to reason with Grogar for your revival. We don't know where or in what condition your body is in, so even if you were granted reprieve from death, what would you do if your body wasn't there to go back to?"

566901

>>566888
Look the buffalo over.
"… Hi! I'm Amber!"

>>566895
"Gotta enjoy it while it lasts, you know!"

566902

>>566888
Nod at him.
"Hello."

>>566895
"I guess that is true. Still, we came as fast as we could to get both of you."

566903

>>566873
"Snack is glad to see that Melody is safe, Shortcake pony is quite alarmed, not to mention Star cried so hard at your passing." I smile

566909

>>566897
"Doubting him is not heresy. Foolishness, but not heresy."

>>566898
"But…the Guide says we have to negotiate with Grogar."

>>566900
"If such is the case, I will simply go towards my judgement as it should be.
I am honored to be given the slightest chance to be resurrected.
I will forever be grateful to Miss Melody and you all."

>>566901
"Hello."

>>566902
Vilina looks at you.
"Sorry for what?"

566910

>>566909
I gulp upon hearing this.
"Hmmm… now that is a tough sell."

566913

>>566900
"Grogar probably knows where his body is. That seems like the kind of shit he'd know."

>>566901
I laugh.
"That's the right attitude!"

>>566903
"Not Star too… man. She still broken up?"

566915

>>566909
"I'm glad you're prepared for the worst. Or best, if your afterlife is an agreeable one."
I'll nod again to Heavyhooves.
"Now, we should probably think about getting to our appointment with the lord of death."
>>566913
Shrug.

566916

>>566909
"Negotiate with Grogar?"
I bark out another laugh.
"Fuck that! I'm gonna challenge him. Like the old legends. Straight gonna fucking humiliate his decaying ass!"

566918

>>566913
"She is fine now that we saw you." I nod.
"She is here with us, she insisted to come to see you." I show you Star.

566919

>>566916
"A pinch of humility wouldn't hurt, Melody."

566920

>>566909
"I would hate to be seen as a fool."

566922

>>566909
"Sorry for… well… it was the cleansing ritual that failed and killed you."

566923

>>566913
I scrunch.
"You better not die again though, everyone was really, really sad!"

>>566909
"You neither Vilina! Don't die again after this!"

566925

>>566916
>>566919
"Hey I like this plan!
We can challenge him, like Rock'n Roll and Mad Dunker!"

566926

>>566916
"How do you plan to do that?"

566931

>>566916
"That seems… unwise."

566932

>>566910
"I doubt he does this often."

>>566913
Star comes over and gives you a hug.
"I missed you so much…"

>>566920
"We are all fools."

>>566922
"……….you did it?"

>>566923
"Oh I won't."

566936

>>566932
Step beside Mabel, in front of Vilina, looking at the ground.
"And I."

566937

>>566918
>>566909
"Oh! Hey Star!"
I wave to her.
"Didn't notice ya. Why you being so qui-"
>>566932
I return the hug.
"Aww, that's sweet! Missed ya too, Star. And hey-"
I ruffle her hair.
"You did your best trying to heal me. I was basically gone right after that explosion so my… spirit or some shit was out and floating around, so I got to see you doing your thing- and lemme tell you, that was some professional fucking work!"

>>566919
"Humility's for dweebs."
I stick my tongue out.

>>566923
"Don't plan on it!"

>>566925
I raise a hoof up for a high-hoof.
"Yeah! You got the idea man!"

>>566926
>>566931
I shrug.
"I'll think of something by the time we get there."

566938

>>566937
Totally, bump that high.

566939

>>566932
Frown.
"Soil and I tried to cure you…. but we failed. I failed…"

566940

>>566932
>>566937
"Good! If you do, I'm going to be mad at you, so you want to avoid that!"

566942

>>566937
I'll simply shrug again.

566943

>>566937
I frown.

566945

>>566938
Awwww yeah.

>>566940
"I'd rather avoid having more paladins mad at me. Plus, you're actually cool Amber. It'd suck if you got mad at me."

>>566942
I parrot your shrug.

>>566943
"Oh come on! Don't give me that Shorty. It'll all work out!"

566947

>>566945
"I hope it does."

566956

>>566932
>>566937
I gulp and then smile as both Star and Melody hugs.

566957

>>566932
>>566936
She scrunches.
"…Why?"

566960

>>566957
"Cause it was the right thing to do!"

566961

>>566957
"We wanted to help you!"

566962

>>566960
"I think she meant 'why did you kill her', Soil."

566964

>>566962
"What you mean why?
I didn't want to!"

566974

>>566964
"Then you don't answer her asking 'why did you kill her' with 'it was the right thing to do.' That makes it sound like you intended to kill her before the ritual even started."
I'll frown slightly.
>>566957
"From what I understand of the situation, Vilina, they simply didn't do enough research into the matter, and overlooked what would happen if they had failed."

566976

>>566974
>>566964
>>566961
"…so it was an accident?"

566977

>>566976
Nod veemently.

566980

>>566976
I'll nod.
"One they have regretted committing. The two of them were the second-most vocal in bringing you back."

566981

>>566976
"Yeah… I was pretty sad."

566982

>>566976
Nod.
"We didn't mean to hurt you. It was an accident, and I cannot say anything that would express how sorry I am…"

566985

>>566982
>>566981
>>566980
>>566977
She looks down.
"All of you came here for me. That's far more than I could have asked….there is nothing to be sorry about."

566990

>>566985
Hug time?

566992

>>566985
"We're probably going to be sorry about it anyway."
I'll give a weak smile.

566995

>>566985
>>566990
I agree with Soil, hug time!

566996

>>566990
She's not making any moves to hug anyone, if you want to start be my guest.

>>566992
"You think so?"

566999

>>566985
"Woo! She forgives us!"
I jump up and down happily a few times.

567000

>>566996
I do!
'1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

567002

>>566996
"Well, at least until we feel we've made it up to you."
I'll give her a soft pat on the shoulder.
"But! We can't start making it up to you until we get back into the land of the living."

567008

>>567002
She nods.
"Perhaps we can make it right."

>>567000
You're hugging Vilina, her expression is one of surprise and happiness

PAUSE

567015

>>567000
>>567008
Hey!
Another shiny hug to add to the hugcount!

Roll #1 6 = 6

567022

>>567008
>>567015
Naaahh… lets join in for the count.
'1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

568862

Anything else you guys want to get off your chests?

568863

>>568862
I said what I had to

568864

>>568862
This place is wonderful enough to keep me occupied for ages.

568865

>>568862
Naaah.
Too much emotions for my little brain.

568866

>>568862
I gave both of them a very shiny hug, what more could be done!?

568867

>>568862
Nope.
I'm good.
I wanna get the fuck outta dodge and enact some justice on some rich bitch ass motherfucker.

568869

Heavyhooves looks up.
"There's the boat."
From the distant mist a boat slowly drifts towards Port Charon. Black and rotten, it is amazing it still seems to drift.
At the helm, steering the boat with a single oar stands an old diamond dog.
Heavyhooves looks excited.
As the boat comes to the pier, many souls flock towards it, but the boatsdog holds them back.
"Not all at once, all of be still so I can take a look at you."

568870

>>568869
"We don't want to board that, do we?"

568871

>>568869
I stand still

568876

>>568869
Fluff my mane and make sure to look absolutely dazzling.

Roll #1 4 = 4

568878

The Guide steps forward.
"Boatsdog, I am here to guide these souls to Grogars Palace, we should go first."
The boatsdog sighs. "All of you Grogarians, you know, sometimes I think the wrong guy got put on that lousy throne."
He points to the other souls.
"Right, all of you get back, VIPs coming through. Take a good look at their shiny souls."
There's some disappointing moans, but the souls go aside, letting you through.

>>568870
>>568871
>>568876

568879

>>568878
Apologize to them as I pass.
"We do want to get on this boat then…"

568880

>>568878
"Not like you don't have all eternity!"
Step on that boat.

568881

>>568878
Off we go!
"Let's get this over with already. I wanna be fuckin' back in the world of living! With my wings and everything!"

568882

>>568878
"I'm extra shiny! You're lucky the stardust has worn off or you'd be blind by now!"
Onto the boat!

568883

>>568878
Stride onto the boat with full confidence.

568884

>>568878
I lower my head and grin as we pass by and sit on the boat.
Now how does the water look like? No crocodiles I hope.

568885

>>568880
"Soil, that's not very nice to say!"

568886

>>568885
"But it's true!"

568887

>>568886
"It's still not something that you say to dead souls! They still have feelings!"

568888

>>568885
>>568886
"Makes Snack wonder if it is true that spirits stay here forever, well not us apparently…. Snack hope so.:" I gulp.

568890

>>568888
"I'm as creeped out as you are…"

568891

The souls look at you with a mix of jealousy and sadness.

>>568882
>>568881
>>568879
>>568883
The boatsdog eyes all of you as you get in.

>>568884
It is very, very dark, but there are green shades flowing slowly through it. Shades of ponies and dogs and all kinds of races. They seem to be asleep as they drift further.

When Star and Heavyhooves are in, the boatsdog gives the pier a little push with his oar and drifts off.
"Keep your limbs inside the boat, you don't want to know what happens to souls that fall in there." He snickers.
"You know, guide, when you meet Grogar, tell him I need a raise. You know when Kronox was in charge here, I actually got paid for this shit." He snickers again.

568894

>>568891
"Was it Grogar that stopped with the whole 'coins on the eyes to pay for the toll' bullshit?"

568895

>>568891
"What currency do you utilize, exactly?"

568897

>>568891
Oh dear god.. or whatever doge god we worship. I avert my eyes staring at the floating bodies.
If I dont pay mind to it, maybe it will go away.

"Souls… " I look at the guide.

568898

>>568891
Not stressed out at all… '1d10'
Stay in the dead middle of the boat.
No pun intended.

Roll #1 2 = 2

568900

>>568891
I scrunch at the sad ponies.
"Sorry…"

568901

>>568898
You seem shaky.

>>568897
The Guide shakes his head.
"They're not souls, they're memories, memories given form."

>>568895
"Gold. In ye olde times I couldn't wait to get all those shinies on board. Was great. And ponies didn't pay? Eh, just let them spend a few decades at the port, they have all eternity."

>>568894
"Hey, do you work for no pay?"

568902

>>568901
"What would you spend it on, anyway, if you don't mind me asking?"

Must be just the cold…

568903

>>568891
"Gold? Where does this gold come from? I had no idea the afterlife had an economy based on gold."

568904

>>568902
>>568903
He perks a brow.
"Spend? I just like having it."

568906

>>568901
"I don't 'work' man. I fight for freedom and justice and fight against oppression wherever it may be. Sometimes I get gold for my efforts."

>>568903
"Seriously? Am I the only one here who read the classics? C'mon! You're a… belle or whatever, Heartache. You should know!"

568907

>>568904
"Oh. That makes sense."

568909

>>568901
I look at the water again,
"So one can lose memory by touching the water, good thing we dont go thristy." I gulp and shiver at the thought.

568910

>>568904
"Ah. As a diamond dog, you must be fond of gold. Understandable."

>>568906
"Excuse me?"

568912

>>568904
>>568907
>>568910
"I like having gems too, because they're so pretty and come in a lot of different colors!"

568914

>>568910
"That accent? The dignified way you carry yourself? You scream 'daughter of a plantation owner.'"
I laugh.

568915

>>568904
"Where does one spend gold in here? Where does one even mine one in the afterlife?" I look at him

568917

>>568912
"That is…"
I chuckle.
"Also very understandable."

>>568914
"Your deduction skills are remarkable, but I fail to see how this relates to gold being used in the afterlife as a currency where it does not have any value."

568920

>>568909
"Souls disintegrate when touching the Myr. It returns everything to its essence."

>>568906
He laughs.
"Freedom, justice. Give me a break. Completely meaningless."

>>568907
"I know, right. Now I even have to let everypony get in as fast as possible."
He shrugs.
"I still prioritize the bitches though." he winks.

>>568912
"You're one of them gem ponies right. Haven't seen one of you for a while and now suddenly you guys are showing up again.
What happened? Forgot how to die?"

>>568915
"Spend? I keep it. Kronox had some kind of magic spell going on that made the bits come with the souls to the afterlife if their family put it on the dead eyes. As for mining, you'll find lots of it down here. Completely worthless. As I said, I just liked having it. The way those ponies held it out, the heartbroken looks on those who didn't have some." He nods "Good times."

The boat reaches a bend on the river. On the banks there are large frozen planes.
You see many ponies and zebras frozen in place there.

568922

>>568917
I mimic her posh voice.
"Well ah'm afraid that your deduction skills are sadly lacking, darling."
I laugh again.
"Nobody said they actually used the gold. They just want it to keep it."

>>568920
"To the dead, maybe. The living think otherwise."

568923

>>568920
Don't look…
"I do not envy you."

568929

>>568922
"Your mimicry is quite charming, I admit, but I was under the impression that physical goods did not transfer to the afterlife."

>>568920
"How dreadful."
Look at the frozen ponies.

568930

>>568922
"Yeah, you guys are crazy like that."

>>568923
Heavyhooves whispers.
"What an unpleasant character."

>>568929
The guide looks at them.
"The one type of being Grogar hates more than any others. Traitors."

568932

>>568930
"The fuck? How do you betray a god of the dead?"

568933

>>568920
I gulp.
"That will remind Snack to request to have some put on his eyes if the time come's." I grin at thim.

568935

>>568930
"What did they do, exactly?"

568937

>>568920
I scrunch.
"No! Something really awful happened I'll have you know! No laughing matter!"

568943

>>568930
"Just imagine what an eternity of this line of work could do to someone."

568944

>>568932
>>568935
The guide shakes his head.
"Traitors in life. They betrayed their friends or family, sold out those who trusted them."
He stares at the ice field.
"They chose to abandon the ones who loved them and now they themselves are abandoned. A fitting punishment."

>>568937
"Something serious? To the living? Get outta here. I call that world up there the foalgarten."

>>568943
"I wonder how he got it."

>>568933
"Please do, I'll give you front row seats on the boat. It would warm this old dogs heart." He snickers.

568946

>>568944
"Betraying one's family is a low thing to do indeed."

568949

>>568944
"Hey! You don't know what it was like to be under Sombra's rule!"

568950

>>568944
"…"
I momentarily shiver at his description.
Well- hey, if it hasn't happened to me yet I doubt it will… right?

"Whatever. Let's just get this fuckin' thing over with. Take us to Grogar already."

568951

>>568949
"Was it as bad as those guys got it?"
He points to the frozen wastes.

568954

>>568951
"Pretty much!"

568955

>>568944
"I'd rather not find out. I'm uncomfortable enough as it is."

568957

>>568944
I just gulp and just sit next to Star and wait for this creepy journey in the river to end.

568958

>>568950
Seems like you're safe.

>>568954
"Well whaddaya know. This Sombra guy must have been something.

The boat drifts further, on the banks is another forest. unlike Wraithbloom with its white flowers, this one is a sickly green and full of thorns.
You see some beings entrapped in the roots, struggling to get out. Others just sit there, shred up by thorns, seemingly resigned to their fate.

568962

>>568958
"Well he's dead now. Princess Cadance took him down and saved us all!"

568963

>>568958
"What did they do?"

568966

>>568963
The Guide looks up.
"Unlike Kronox, Grogar allows the living to use and study the powers of death. This was meant as a tool of study and knowledge, and in most desperate need, a weapon. These beings however misused this gift, used it to terrorize and harm others. They now learn the error of their ways."

568967

>>568966
"Grogar punishes evil necromancers in the afterlife?"

568968

>>568958
>>568966
"Creepy shit yo…"

568971

>>568967
"Yes, some of them think to live forever but all learn in the end that death is inevitable."

568972

>>568962
"Princess Cadance. Oh great, another paladin, I should have recognized that armor."

568973

I sit pretty in the boat.

568976

>>568971
"I didn't know this…"
I'm not going to say it, but they sort of deserve this.

568981

>>568966
"Oh goodness…"

568985

>>568972
I stick out my tongue!

>>568966
"Well… if they're really evil, they kind of deserve it! … Still harsh though!"

568990

The mist that has been on the other side of the river during your journey lifts and Grogars palace comes into view.
The palace is gigantic, as if it was made by giants. But featureless, no statues, or carvings adorn its walls.
There is a pier near the giant stairs leading to the entrance. You see some souls sitting at the stairs, working up the courage to go in. Other souls at the top shine differently. One shines brightly yellow like a sun with wings. Another a soft pink. They seem to be conversing.

Next to the Palace is a large pit. Silent black armored ponies stand around it. Watchful.

568992

>>568990
Behind the castle but out of your sight shines a bright light.

568996

>>568990
>>568992
"Whoa. That's huge."

569000

>>568990
I really wish I wasn't here right now!

569005

>>568990
"I do adore how they have decorated this place."
I chuckle.

569007

>>568990
>>568992
"…The fuck? Why do those two souls at the top look familiar…"
I scratch my chin.
"Blindingly bright like a fuckin' sun with wings…"

569010

>>569007
>>569005
>>569000
>>568996
The boat stops at the pier.
"End of the line, get off!" the boatsman says grudgingly.
"I'd ask for tips but we all know that's not coming."

The guide steps off.

569011

>>568990
Spoooooky…
… A pink soul? Pink is the best color!

569012

>>569010
I step off as well and start walking towards the castle.
"Well let's get this over with then."

569014

>>569010
"Left all my bits in my living body."

569017

>>569010
Hop off.
"You have my sincerest gratitude, boatsman."
That mare we came to rescue, Vilina or whatever, how is she doing?

569018

>>569010
"I'd give you food if I had any."
Off I get.

569020

>>569010
"I'll try and make sure to bring you some gold for when I die for real, then."
Get off the wild ride!

569023

>>56899
>>569010
hop off and follow the others

569026

>>569017
She's been very quiet the whole trip sticking close to Warren.
She trots off the boat like a mare walking to her execution.

The guide walks up the stairs.
As you reach the top a massive onyx gate comes into view.
You arrive just in time to see a soul enter and the gate slams shut.
The bright soul of a mare spreads its wings and flies through one of the windows of the palace.
The pink mare turns around to look at you.
She seems to be a crystal mare.

569031

>>569026
!
Wave at her.
"Hello! I'm Amber, who are you?"

569032

>>569026
Should we know these souls?
Keep silent

569035

>>569026
She probably has a lot on her mind… though it is interesting that she is worried. Perhaps she is not quite so saintly after all.

569036

>>569026
I wave too.

569040

>>569031
The mare steps towards you.
"Ah, another crystal mare here. Pleasure to meet you, welcome to the Palace of Grogar. I am Lady Sapphire Stone, Cadance's emmissary to Grogar."

>>569032
No

569041

>>569040
"Whoa! You know Cadance, miss?"

569042

>>569026
I look at the crystal mare, does hse look familiar?

I look at Star.
"Hey, another crystal pony."

569043

>>569040
"A pony emissary… hmm that makes Snack wonder if we have emmissaries." I scratch my head.

569044

>>569040
"An emmissary? Here?"

569045

>>569041
"I do. It has been a long time since I saw her however. I served as one of her paladins…"

>>569042
Star speaks up.
"I know you. You were one of the first paladins to ever join the Order of the Heart. But…you fell in the Siege of the Crystal Capital."
The mare nods.
"When I fell, Cadance came to me and asked if I was willing to continue my duty beyond death. Now I am here, acting as an advocate for the crystal ponies during their judgement by Grogar."
She looks over you.
"Shame Lady Radiant had to go, I think she'd have loved to meet you."

569047

>>569045
"Oh! Oh! I'm a paladin too! Or well, a warder to be exact. Silver Blood is my partner!"

569049

>>569045
"…Lady Radiant?"
I let out a sigh of relief.
"Oh thank fuck she left. She's an asshole and a bitch. Corrupt totalitarian piece of shit…"

569053

>>569045
>>569049
"Lady Radiant?"

569054

>>569045
I look at the Crystal pony confused and think for a moment.
"Excuse Snack… but who is lady Radiant?"

569055

>>569045
"Who was she?"

569057

>>569053
"…You really never did crack open a history book, did you?"

569058

>>569054
>>569053
Sapphire answers "She was a legendary paladin in her time. When she died, she was charged by Celestia to become her emmissary here, as I was by Cadance."

569059

>>569058
"I never knew such a position even existed."

569060

>>569057
"I did hear of her before, but I had no idea she would be an emissary here. Dixie is not… fond of Celestials, to put it politely."

569063

>>569055
"Some follow of Celestia. My sister would talk about her sometimes."

569064

>>569059
"The position is important.
While it is not often that we can sway the judges decision, after all one's own actions during life directly decide the judgement, little we can do about that. But very often a soul feels comforted during the trial to know that their deity is still watching over them."

569065

>>569058
I nod at this, then look at Star with doubt in my face before whispering to her.
"Snack do not know…. but Snack just want to tell Star if she wants to know the truth, that this is the right time to confirm if Star's friends are here in the after life. Maybe we can ask crystal pony emmisarry if it is possible we can make contact with them, what does Star think?"

569069

>>569063
"I'm don't know much of Equestrian history, to be honest."

>>569064
Nod.
"That's a very nice thing to do for these souls."

569070

>>569064
"I sure would!"
I go silent for a moment.
"… Does that mean that… when I die… uh…"

569071

>>569069
"It shows, sometimes."

569072

>>569060
"It is of little concern down here.
Just as many defend themselves, they did not need the support of a deity in life, so they do not need it in their afterlife. I'm sure most of them would be offended if we tried to stay with them."

>>569065
She nods.
"Um, miss Sapphire, can we meet our friends here in the afterlife?"
She shakes her head.
"They surely have passed on to the Eternal Plains by now, which only the Judged can reach"
She points to the bright light behind the castle.
"You are here on different matters I can see."

569074

>>569071
"Not all of us shares the same values."

>>569072
Nod.
"We don't want to pass there just yet."

569077

>>569072
"Hmmm, I see. Most intriguing."

569079

>>569072
I look at the castle.
"Yes we do… Snack just wanted to know if Star's friends are alright and if they are happy thats all." I smile at the emissary.

569081

>>569079
"I do not know such matters."

The guide nods.
"We must continue."
He points to a small stairs next to the giant onyx gate.

569083

>>569074
I nod.

>>569057
>>569081
"You ready, Mel?"

569084

>>569081
Keep Star close and nod.
"Yes lets."

569085

>>569081
"Waiting on you."

>>569083
"I'm always ready, Shorty."

569086

>>569085
"I'll be right behind you."

569088

>>569081
"Of course."

569092

The Guide guides you up the stairs into the castle.
You enter a small room with some chairs and a table in the middle.
Near the window overlooking the Myr sit three ponies.
A filly, a mare and an old granny. Together they seem to by weaving a thread.
On the other side is an onyx gate.
As you enter, the onyx gate opens.
A hooded figure steps out.
"We believe there are 2 waiting for an audience with the Judges. First we will listen to the one called Melody Maker. She must come with me, as well as all those who want to speak for her. The others must stay here."

569093

>>569092
Well that's not creepy at all.

569095

>>569092
Bite my lip.

569097

>>569092
Creeeepy…
"There's three. Me, Vilinna, and Heavyhooves."

569099

>>569092
I look at the others.
"So who should go?"

569100

>>569092
"Speak for her? Like… defend her? I thought you said that didn't matter to the judges!"

569102

>>569097
The hooded figure looks over to the buffalo.
"….three?"
He looks towards the 3 mares in the corner.
They just chuckle.
"Change of plans, darling." says the adult earth pony mare.
"Or is it?" says the pegasus filly.
They start laughing as if the filly made a huge inside joke.

The hooded figure just shakes his head.
"Three then. Melody goes first, who will assist her?"

>>569100
"But this is not a judgement, she is here to ask for a resurrection. The Judges want to hear why she would deserve a resurrection."

569106

>>569102
"…So it is a judgement, then. They're judging if I have a good enough reason for resurrection-"
I shake my head.
"Whatever. Just tell me when I can start and who I can bring with."

569107

>>569102
I'm sure Shortcake could do it best.

569110

>>569102
"I will."

569112

>>569106
"You can bring whoever you want. How many you want."

>>569110
The hooded figure nods.

569113

>>569102
What a creepy little child. What do those three look like?

569117

>>569112
"I'll bring everyone here then."
I turn back to the group.
"You guys wouldn't mind doing that for me, would you?"

569118

>>569102
>>569112
"Oh… I will then!"

569119

>>569102
>>569117
I nod at Melody
"Snack will come, if necessary."

569120

>>569113
They remind you suddenly of the 3 mares depicted on the Shrine of Grogar.
The Priest called them The Fates, they were the all-knowing sisters. Those who weave the Tapestry of Fate and decide the birth and death of every soul.

569125

>>569120
How very odd. This certainly is a wondrous place.

>>569117
"I am afraid I will not have much to say… We never quite learned to know each other in the short time we were together."

569133

>>569120
"Is there a limit to the number of ponies we can speak for, or can we speak for multiple cases?"

569135

>>569133
"If you feel you can speak for multiple ponies, you are free to do so."

WHO GOES?

569137

>>569135
"Then I shall speak for both Melody Maker and Vilina."

569138

>>569135
I shall, for Melody. I do not know much of her, but she did ask me to come.

569143

>>569135
"Hey I made all this walk to save Vilina and Melody and I'm not going back now!"

569144

>>569135
"I will go for both too!"

569146

>>569135
>>569137
>>569138
>>569143
>>569144
I grin at all the support.
Good ponies, all of them… Misguided at times maybe, but good of heart.

569148

>>569135
"I guess I can be there for Venia and the buffalo, but I don't really know either of them well."

569157

"Very well. Enter."
The onyx gate opens.

In the corner the filly suddenly speaks up.
"…this one didn't come out right."
She holds up a stringy thread to the old mare who shakes her head.
"If I had a nickel for every time you screw one up."
Her horn glows and an old set of shears floats up from the ground.

The hooded figure motions you to get in the gate.

569159

>>569157
All of us?

569160

>>569157
I shudder but go inside.

569164

>>569157
I'll enter before the line is cut. I get the feeling someone somewhere just had a miscarriage.

569165

>>569159
Everyone who wants to come to defend Melody.
You can still come later if you only want to defend Vilina and/or Heavyhooves.
Vilina and Heavyhooves have to stay here for now.

569166

>>569157
"It's just a thread, it's gonna work anyway."
Comment off-hoof as I move inside.

569168

>>569157
Inside I go.

569170

>>569157
I shake my head and go in.

569171

>>569157
Sad scrunch…
Go inside

569174

>>569165
I'll defend Vilina, but I'm not sure what I could say for Melody

569182

You enter the dark tunnel, before the gate closes you hear the shears cut and a cold shiver runs up your spooky spines.

The tunnel ends in a large hall, on one end you see the onyx gate you saw outside.
On the other is a large court.
On the first row sit three grim judges a zebra mare, another equestrian mare and a grim male griffon.

The Equestrian mare speaks up.
"First case.
Defendant, Melody Maker, requesting a resurrection.
Miss Maker please step forward and tell the court why you seek a resurrection."

>>569174
That's completely okay.
You remain behind as the gate slowly closes again with Vilina and Heavyhooves.
And of course the Fates, the filly has begun weaving another thread.

569184

>>569182
I'll listen and watch.

569189

>>569182
Fidget around with my hooves nervously.

569190

>>569182
You know what, I will stay behind with Mabel.

569191

>>569182
"Uh-"
I clear my throat.
"I seek a resurrection… So I may right the ills of the world, and-"
I look back to the door.
"And to help a buffalo who has met an unfortunate end seek justice for his unfortunate demi- no, his fucking murder."

569192

>>569190
Too bad, you came. No going back.
You can excuse yourself to the judges.

569194

>>569191
The Judges look at each other.
"And you believe this is sufficient to be allowed this honor?"

569196

>>569194
"Oh what the fu-"
I take a deep breath.
"I was killed while pursuing a pony who kidnapped others and then drained their life force to power some machine thing."

569199

>>569196
"Many souls have perished while fighting the evils of the living world. Should we resurrect all of them as well?"

569201

>>569199
"Oh fucking-"
I stomp my hoof.
"So that's it? You're denying my request here and now? Tell me- if that's not sufficient, then what the fuck is?!"

569203

>>569201
"We have heard your appeal.
Next in line. Miss Shortcake, step forward and speak."

569204

>>569174
Meanwhile…
Heavyhooves steps to the trio.
He looks at the filly.
"Hello."
The filly looks up and smiles.
"Hello Heavyhooves."

569205

>>569204
Look at them.
See where this goes.
Scoot closer to Vilana

569207

>>569205
Vilina is remarkably quiet, looking out the window to the Myr.
Heavyhooves seems taken back.
"You know my name?"
The filly giggles.
"Of course, silly. How are you?"
"Uh..I'm…uh…good."
The adult mare speaks up "Lie. You're about to feint. Would have, if you were alive."

>>569203
Retcon that.
"Miss Amber, please step forward."

569208

>>569207
Step forward with a serious look on my face.

569209

>>569208
"Why should Miss Melody be resurrected?"

569210

>>569207
"Who wouldn't be anxious here?"

569211

>>569209
"We traveled a loooong way to get here and save our friends. There's so many ponies who die each day… but she's one of the few we went through hell for to bring back. I know death is a part of life, but that doesn't mean it should be the end of it! I'd venture here every week if that is what it would take to keep our group together, because only together we have the power to achieve greatness!"

569212

>>569210
It's just natural, Mabel." says the filly.

>>569211
"What would you give to see her resurrected?"

569213

>>569212
"That's a very vague question that would take a long time to specify exactly. I sense a trap!"

569214

>>569213
"Thank you, miss Amber. Next up, miss Shortcake. Why would we resurrect Miss Melody?"

569215

>>569212
Frown a bit.
"It feels really unnatural to be here, though."

569216

Back for reals.

569217

>>569216
You're up, Buttercup.

569218

Let's speed this shit up.
Same question for all of you.
We'll pretend it happens one at a time.
Go.

569219

>>569215
"Because it is, silly."

569220

>>569214
"Because she's a really good pony deep down, even if she can be pretty annoying on the surface. She saved me from a life of slavery a while ago, and I'm still trying to pay her back for that."
I hoof the ground and look away.
"There's also some…emotional stuff…I think. We still need to figure all of that out."

569221

>>569219
"Yes, I know that!"

569222

>>569218
"Because, despite her boisterous nature and crude language, Melody Maker is a good pony who was roughly taken before her time. Due to the unnatural circumstances surrounding her demise, I would think she would be entitled to, if nothing else, a second chance."

569223

>>569220
>>569222
"What would you give for her to be resurrected?"

>>569221
"I know you know!"

569224

>>569218
"Despite all the times we've butted heads, she's shown me new ways to look and talk to the world. She's helped us fight off monsters and creatures, and to us, she is worth coming all the way here to get her back."

569225

>>569223
"I can bake you all your own cake. I'm good at baking."
I smile proudly.

569226

>>569223
"I just felt like I'd let you know for sure that I feel like that!"

569227

>>569223
"That's a fairly difficult question, actually. What do I possess that would be worth a life? My own, certainly, though I can't exactly just trade places with her. Would defeat the purpose."
I'll rub my chin.
"But I suppose it would be thematically appropriate to surrender my voice to raise a Melody. Of course, that would have to be collected after Vilina's trial, if that's sufficient."

569228

>>569218
I step forward and look each judge in the eyes momentarily before clearing my throat.
"Now, I will start this defense off by saying that
miss Melody and I have not known one another for a very long time. In fact, I have only recently acquainted with everypony in this group. I cannot speak for how goodhearted or how charitable she is, because the simple truth is that I do not know these things. What I can testify for, however, is the sheer willpower she and her friends possess to make this journey all the way here. I have met some ponies in my lifetime and there have been very few who have made an impression quite as strong as these ponies. The expression of going through hell for somepony can be quite literally applied here, I believe."
I chuckle.
"She gave her life to save others and I find that quite admirable. But that fact is nothing compared to the courage and determination these ponies have shown. As miss Amber so nicely put it, perhaps death should not be the end of life. It is not unheard of ponies being brought back from the afterlife and if there is one, or two, ponies deserving of this, I would say it would be miss Melody and Vilina."

569229

>>569226
"That's weird."

>>569225
"What has she taught you?"

>>569225
"We don't eat in the court."

>>569227
There's a silence.
"You'd give up your voice?"

>>569228
"Would you say she is more deserving for a resurrection than you?"

569230

>>569229
"What is?"

569231

>>569229
I blink.
"Uhh. How to be a fighter? Or, well, she made me think about being a fighter…and exploring…and some..uh, mare stuff."

569232

>>569229
I'd nod.
"A life for a voice is a bargain."

569233

>>569230
"Asking something when you know the answer."

>>569224
"What did she teach you?"

>>569231
"So you'd say she impacted your life?"

>>569232
The judges talk to each other.
"Return to your seat we'll soon announce our judgement when everypony has been heard."

569234

>>569233
I nod my head.
"Certainly. She saved me from being a slave, after all. Well, she helped."

569235

>>569232
"Wait, you'd do that?"

569236

>>569233
I'll bow slightly, and return to my seat.

569237

>>569233
Throughout all this, I remain unusually - very much so for me - silent.
I'm… too busy thinking.

569238

>>569235
"How could I do any less for a friend?"

569239

>>569229
"I have risked my very soul to stand in this place. Not for myself, but for a pony who I have only known for a few days. I think one's soul is more valuable than anything else in this world, no? I refuse to trivialize it to a bargaining chip."

569240

>>569233
"It never hurts to ask."

569241

>>569233
"To let go and hold on. All my life, I saw those with loose mouths to be completely without control or values, but as dirty as her mouth was, she was always there, fighting for others. She's had a definite impact on my world."

569242

>>569240
She shrugs.
"Hey look at this."
She shows you a shiny new thread.
"Do you like it?"

>>569239
"A soul is valuable, priceless beyond any measure. A resurrection is something else. You are not here to bargain for her soul, you are here to bargain for a resurrection."

>>569241
"You may sit down, mister Pico."

569243

>>569238
I say nothing. Instead, I hug you.

569244

>>569243
I'll give a light hug back.
"You might want to save the thanks until we're all back in the land of the living."

569245

>>569244
I nod and keep hugging.

569246

>>569242
"A soul is all we have here. Everything we can give you is tied to it, be it voice, hearing or the ability to be brought back to the land of the living. What do you wish of me then?"

569247

>>569246
"We wish to know what you think Melody's resurrection is worth to you."

569248

>>569247
"I have risked my soul to get here, we all have. Back in the land of the living we have risked limb and bone to reach the entrance to this world as well. As you said yourself, what could we possibly give you that is worth more than the ultimate thing which we have already risked?"

569249

>>569248
"What you risked granted you an audience, not a resurrection."

569250

>>569242
Eye it up.
"I guess? It's really nice with that shine."

569251

>>569249
"We are bound to sacrifice something if we are to resurrect her then?"

569252

>>569250
"It's brand new"
She squees.
"What's he gonna become sis?" she asks the adult mare.
"It's not appropriate to tell with others around, dear sister."

>>569251
"Yes."

569253

>>569252
Smile a bit.
"Who will I tell?"

569254

>>569252
"Nothing is ever free, is it? Very well, I assume a heart condition is not a suitable price to pay. A kidney perhaps? Quite risky… though unlikely to appease. One of my skills perhaps? I have many verbal skills."

569255

>>569253
"Nopony."

>>569254
"Very well, sit down as we deliberate."

569256

>>569255
Sit down.

569257

>>569255
"Then what's the matter?"

569258

The Judges converse for a few minutes.
"We have decided…."
The mare stops as horns sound from the outside, becoming louder.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNVvtvmpl-g

569259

>>569257
"She looks up, you'll tell nopony, because you won't know."
She puts down her thread closes her hooves and another one springs from inside it.
"You know this one."
It seems really familiar even though you've never seen it before.

569260

>>569258
Well, let's hear it.

569261

>>569259
"I do?"
Inspect it… try to identify why it seems so familiar.
'1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

569262

Another horn sounds and the onyx gates open.
Inside fly two heavily armed Griffons.
And in the middle strides a large Griffon with one eye and a raven on his shoulder.
Melody recognizes him as the one leading the feast at Valhalla.
Pico recognizes him as Ovrin, the first griffon, the founder of Hyperborea, leader of the Ancients.

>>569261
You touch it and suddenly feel dazed.
You fall to the floor.

569263

>>569262
Aw.
Ow.
Uh.
"I think I can guess now…"

569264

>>569263
She nods.
"It is quite fragile."

569265

>>569262
That's… interesting.

569266

>>569262
Quite the imposing character, I see.

569267

>>569262
I look over to him.
Wonder what he's doing here…

569268

>>569264
"Good thing my hooves aren't sharp then."

569269

>>569262
Do whatever the Gryphon equivalent of a deep bow is…
Just seeing him like this is too much!

569270

>>569265
>>569266
>>569267
The zebra and pony judges facehoof.
The Griffon judge merely keeps his stoic appearance.
Ovrin grins at Melody.

>>569268
"You wouldn't be able to cut it anyway, unless we'd want you to. I'm merely showing you this."

>>569269
Ovrin turns to you.
"Get up. Let me take a look at you."

569271

>>569270
"SIR!"

Get up quickly.

569272

>>569270
I watch.

569273

>>569270
"So… is that all my life ever will be?"

569274

>>569271
"What's your name?"

569275

>>569270
I grin back at him.
"Hey man. 'sup??"
I notice him turning to look at Queren.
"Oh, you here to see Queren?"

569276

>>569270
Facehoof? did I make a faux pas? How dreadful.

569277

>>569273
"Yes. That is what your life is. What you do with it is another question."

>>569275
"I didn't even know a griffon was here.
I'll get back to you in a second."

>>569276
You fucked up.

569278

>>569274
"PICO!"

"I, uh, Queren Pico sir!"

569279

>>569278
"Pico family? I remember the founder of your house, he is one of us at the feast at Valhalla. Are you doing your family proud?"

569280

>>569277
"I've had my mistakes, but I'm trying to make up for them."

569281

>>569279
"I, I can only hope, SIR! But, I'm just here for a friend I'd like to get back."

569282

>>569280
"You didn't make mistakes. You did as you were supposed to."

>>569281
"You hope?
What did you do that your family would not be proud of you?"

569283

>>569282
"They felt like mistakes. Some still do."

569284

>>569279
I raise a hoof.
"I can vouch for him. Guy's a fuckin' great fighter, and he's been traveling with me for a pretty long while now."

569285

>>569282
"I've involved myself in some of Equestrian's troubles, which explains why I'm here now, and left Hyperborea. They've at least focused on working in our homeland."

>>569284
"Thanks."

569286

>>569283
"They were not. I decided you'd make them. And you did. You did precisely as you were supposed to."

>>569284
>>569285
"And this would dishonor your family?Let me ask you something. You know how your house was founded? They probably told you something about the great Pico patriarch being the first of his clutch and being the most honorable warrior ever who single-handedly killed a 100 minotaurs during their invasion of Hyperborea, yes?"

569287

>>569286
"Yes, I had to learn all about our history we grew up. Reciting that story was the first thing we did when we learned to read."

569288

>>569286
I frown.
"So… whatever I do, is not really what I do?"

569289

>>569287
"Well let me tell you something. Your patriarch was an honorable warrior who single-handedly fought off a 100 minotaurs during that invasion.
But he was not the first of his clutch nor did anyone think of him as honorable before that. He was the weakest of the last clutch of his mother.
His family disowned him and he was forced to live on the streets of the Eyrie. He taught himself to fight, he robbed, he was a drunk. But when Hyperborea needed him, he was there. Afterwards his family sought to take him back."
Ovrin snickers.
"He told them to go fuck themselves and that he'd make his own House with Virgin Dice and hookers. And that's how he started the Pico family."
He slaps you on the back.
"Pico, I feel great conflict and guilt in you. But know that the Griffons of Hyperborea have always judged a griffon on his raw character and courage. No matter what the Houses want you to believe. Go out there and don't make your family proud, go make Hyperborea proud and you'll earn your place next to us as we feast until Ramnarok comes."

569290

>>569288
"No, you make the decision to do it."

569291

>>569286
>>569289
I sit close to Melody.

569292

>>569290
"But you just said you decided that I'd make them. Then you made them, not me."

569293

>>569289
I break out laughing.
"Hahahaha oh fuck, that's amazing! Queren, your ancestor was a goddamn badass!"
I throw a hoof over his shoulder.
"Still, if gryphon dude here is right about you feeling 'great conflict and guild' or whatever- don't. You're a great dude, Queren."

569294

>>569289
Try to hold back the tears. '1d10'

"Thank you, thank you. I promise, I will!"

Roll #1 10 = 10

569295

>>569293
"I have to thank you too. If we hadn't met, I wouldn't have come here and learned of all of this."

569296

>>569292
"I lay them before you, yet you do not know what decision I made, so you make it yourself with your own free will.
What happens, happens, but the way in which you bear your fate is yours. Some get dragged kicking and screaming, others take it with joy for they know their fate is their own, made especially for them."

>>569294
You have the stoic face of the Pico patriarch himself. His bright eyes shine through you.
Ovrin nods.
"That brings me…"
He turns to the Judges.
"Grogar, my old man, I see you're still gloomy as ever."

You turn your gaze above the judges and only know in the darkest darkness above the court you make out two tiny green glowing eyes and the outline of a ram.
Ovrin stands up.
"I decree that Melody Maker should be granted resurrection, as is my power outlined by the Covenant between the Palace and Valhalla."

569297

>>569296
"If someone tailors you a cloak and you wear it you call it yours, but it doesn't mean you made it."

569298

>>569297
"No. But if somepony made a drawing of a cloak and gave it to you and then you made it to wear it?"

569299

>>569296
"This is within your power? Incredible!"

569300

>>569296
Oh dear… he's up there?

569301

>>569296
"Hu- Wait, huh?"
I look genuinely surprised by his order.

569302

>>569298
"Then I was following the blueprints of someone else."

569303

>>569299
"Me and Grogar fought well together. He's got the heart of a Griffon, only infinitely more tiny, and we have an understanding."

A chilling voice echoes from the dark.
"GRANTED."

>>569302
She shakes her head.
"It will take time for you to come to terms with it. But you will."

>>569300
He is.
You can barely make him out, but that's definitely a ram up there.
You remember the giant statue near the temple of the Priests.
The 3 judges were in front. Grogar above in the back.

>>569301
Ovrin grins.

569304

>>569303
"Because I can do nothing against it, can I?"

569305

>>569304
"You can try. It won't stop it."

569306

>>569303
Well, that's… that's something, alright.

569307

>>569303
I cheer and hug Melody tightly.

569308

>>569303
Well I'll be…

569309

>>569303
Rush over to Melody.

"This is great!"

569310

>>569303
"Haha, shit man!"
I give a jump of joy.
"Thank you so much man!"

>>569307
I hug her back tightly.
"Told ya I'd come back."

>>569309
I drag him into the hug as well.

>>569306
"Don't think that suddenly precludes me from appreciating what you were about to give up for me, man! That was just… fuck!"
I close my eyes to try and hide the few tears that spring forth, absolutely touched as the sheer gravity of what my friends were willing to do for me finally hits me.

569311

>>569303
"I'm glad we could settle that.
As always, you're welcome to join our feast sometime, but I know you'll be too busy, Grogar."

>>569310
"Go give those living hell. Now, I feel like I might be sobering up so it is time for me to leave again."

569312

>>569305
"Nor will this knowledge change much, if it is already in my thread, will it?"

569313

>>569310
I'll chuckle.
"Well, I'll admit that I'd miss my voice rather fiercely, but it was, in my mind, a trade I'd be willing to make."

569314

>>569310
I'll watch the claws and embrace everyone.

569315

>>569312
"It is a terrible burden for the living, knowing that everything they do is predetermined. I have never understood that."

569316

>>569310
Give her a nod of approval.

>>569313
"We are not quite done yet…"

569317

>>569316
I'll nod.
"There is still the matter of Vilina and this… Heavyhooves individual."

569318

>>569315
"It didn't do me much good, either."
Frown.

569319

Ovrin takes his leave again.
All is silent.
"This court will have a short recess and we will reconvene shortly to determine the fate of Heavyhooves and Shallow Moon."
The hammer slams.

>>569318
"Think about this way, I only told you because it will affect your life, ultimately for the better."
She smiles.

PAUSE

569320

>>569319
Shallow Moon? My my~

570946

You're back in the antechamber.
Vilina has become rather pale, even for a spirit.

Who wants to speak for Vilina?
Who will stay here?

570954

>>570946
I'll speak for Vilina.

570956

>>570946
I'm staying, I don't know the girl.
"Not to worry darling, surely your friends will get you out of this pickle."

570958

>>570946
I will speak for her.

570962

>>570946
"I will speak for her!"
