"Good morning… Dusk, was it?"

I don't want to be in that crowded, small little area…

No.94248

He grunts and points at a box full of it on the table. There are some bowls as well you can use.

No.94253

I make myself a bowlful of oatmeal and a cup of coffee. Once that's done I sit at the table and chow down.

>>94250
"I spent yesterday trying to cheer him up and nothing worked. Something inside him got broken and I'm afraid I'm not the one to fix it. You, on the other hoof, might have a shot."

No.94254

No.94260

She excuses herself and continues cleaning up

No.94276

>>94274
"I- It's fine, r- really."
I take off my armour to try and appear less intimidating Or did I do that before I fell asleep last night?, grab two bowls of oatmeal, then carry them back to the guest room.
I knock on the door.

No.94278

I thought we were gonna end at the night
I get out of bed, groggily, then turn to Crescent
"Would you like some breakfast?"

No.94281

>>94276
I look up at the door, still munching on the dry cookies.

No.94283

>>94281
"Z- Zivur? C- Can I come in?"

No.94284

A bell can be heard just outside the house and you can hear Krypta calling out

"I'll get it!"

>>94278
Nah, we're going for another 30 minutes or so.

Crescent mumbles a little in her sleep. She's not exactly a morning pony.

No.94285

>>94283
"It's n-not my house, a-and you are a g-guest here too. Y-you can co-come in the guest r-room I guess."

No.94287

>>94284
I shake her a little
"It's time to wake up!"
>>94283
>>94285
"Well good morning to you two. I'm just gonna leave now."
I pick Crescent up from the bed and quickly remove myself from the guest room

No.94289

>>94285
"I- I brought y- you some oatmeal."
I walk over and set it down in front of him, then set my own down and take a seat across from him.
"A- Are you still angry about y- yesterday?"

No.94290

>>94284
Go check the door.

No.94291

Talking can be heard in the other room, and soon enough Krypta returns with Silver Pastures in tow.

"Good morning guys!"

>>94287
Crescent refuses to get up, instead dragging her pillow with her as you carry her out of the room

No.94292

>>94289
"Thanks y-you, thanks…"
I take the bowl, and talk bitterly.
"And n-no, I'm a-actually v-very happy that I l-lost my manticore and a-archer and th-that I couldn't replace th-them with dr-dragons because of an in-inquisitor that he-held a gun at m-my head on e-every occasion she h-had. It w-was one of the best d-days in my l-life!"
After finishing the sentence, I start to eat some.

No.94293

>>94291
"A Silver good to know you are ok."

No.94294

>>94291
"Ah, Silver, it's nice to see you didn't get too badly hurt."
I tap on Crescent's back.
"Do you want coffee?"

No.94295

>>94292
I drop my head and stare into my oatmeal and he speaks,
"I- I'm sure things w- will start picking up! I- I mean, y- you wanted to g- go to that one c- city, right? I'm sure w- we can go there once w- we return and g- get paid."

No.94298

>>94295
"Y-yeah… provided I l-live long enough to get there…"

No.94299

>>94298
"O- Oh come on! W- What do you think is g- going to happen?"

No.94300

>>94293
"Thanks to you guys! I thought I was dead meat!"

He takes a seat at the table

"Even went ahead and fetched Catchcard for me, I can't thank you enough! I've already sent a letter to the empress to praise your great performance!"

He ruffles his mane for a moment, mulling over something.

"With the professor safely here back in Draken and the cargo stored in a safe location, that pretty much ties up your entire mission here."

>>94294
She mutters some incomprehensible words and pulls the pillow over her head

No.94302

>>94299
"Sh-she returns with more o-of her friends? An-and now without m-my minions to follow m-me everywhere I'm a si-sitting duck… n-not to mention wh-what will happen if sh-she gets m-me…"

No.94304

>>94300
I push a cup of coffee in front of her face anyway, then turn to Silver.
"So, will we head back now?"

No.94306

>>94302
"Y- You have us though! W- What could p- possibly happen?"

No.94308

>>94300
"Do you have the package right now?"

No.94309

>>94300
"I'm still a little curious as to how you got caught in the first place, Catchcard."

No.94310

>>94306
"I d-don't know… I d-don't know anything an-anymore… not that I e-ever knew much…"

No.94315

>>94310
I sigh,
"Oh c- come on Zivur! C- Can't y- you at least t- try not feeling so s- sorry for yourself j- just for a little bit? P- Please?"

No.94317

>>94315
"I d-don't feel sorry for my-myself. I ju-just know my place…"

No.94318

>>94317
"B- But y- y- you don't! Nobody has a 'p- place'! Y- Your just as m- much a p- person and just as valuable a- as the r- rest of us!"

No.94319

>>94304
She pushes the cup away

"Nooooo…"

Silver continues

"Well I still have stuff to do myself here for the merchant's guild. But you can return to the capital if you so please. Of course, there is one thing you could do…"

>>94308
"It's stored in a safehouse in town for now."

>>94309
He looks up from his book

"Krypta and I spend a lot of time in the field. Dragons and ponies stay out of each others way so we usually have to walk quite a bit until we can encounter some in their natural habitat. Unfortunately that left us open to those necromancers to capture us."

No.94320

>>94319
"I see. How did the necromancers take over the mountains and kill all the dragons?"

No.94321

>>94318
"Y-yes, yes, but I'm n-not only f-filthy necromancer scum, but a z-zebra as well… we a-are all equal, y-you are ju-just more equal than m-me…"

No.94327

>>94319
"What now guys?"

No.94330

>>94321
"Th- That's n- not how it works!"
I give him a cross look,
"C- Come on… how about a l- little p- positive thinking?"

No.94333

>>94233
What KIND of mess?

No.94339

>>94330
I put my bowl of food down.
"I'm a hu-hundred percent p-positive that this o-oatmeal was ex-expired…"

No.94341

>>94319
"What thing?"

No.94347

>>94319
"Well, out with it!"
I put a bowl of oatmeal next to Crescent

No.94348

>>94339
I let out an even heavier sigh,
"…I'll g- get y- y- you to stop feeling sorry for y- yourself o- one of these days!"
…I still push my so far untouched oatmeal away from me though.
"M- Maybe we should g- get back to the others s- so we can get out of here. A- And then g- get on the r- road to… Pegopolis? Pegice? W- What was that c- city again?"
I bend over to grab the bowls and place them on my back, then trot over to the door and motion for Zivur to follow.

No.94349

>>94320
"Oddomane territory, they own those mountains! They were creating an undead dragon army to fight alongside their armies, so no doubt they were funded by the Caliphate itself."

>>94333
If you want to know whether you are covered in horsejizz then no, you are not. You just look and feel really shitty and uncouth.

>>94341
"Well… The bandits attacking caravans thing is pretty common up here. It has been since a few months ago. To the west of here lies Drakensburg Hold, they are supposed to be keeping the road and area safe. Perhaps you could be so kind as to visit there and see what's what? I mean as knights you should be able to do something right?"

No.94351

>>94349
"Sound easy enough."

No.94353

>>94347
She groans loudly

"Falkmar please… please no… I-I just want to sleep forever…"

No.94354

>>94348
"P-Pegasa. It's P-Pegasa…"
I reluctantly stand up.
"B-but if I'll g-go out I'll ha-have to talk with th-the others, and t-they will p-pester me and re-remind me about y-yesterday…"

No.94357

>>94349
Ok
"Up and at 'em commander. We have shit to do again."

No.94358

>>94354
"I- I'll tell them t- to leave you alone then!"
I give him a smile.
"A- And P- P- Pegasa. Right."

No.94359

>>94353
The line was for Silver just to be clear
"Looks like we're gonna have to make another trip."
>>94349
"This is gonna be trouble…"

No.94363

>>94358
"F-fine…"
I slowly walk after her.

No.94369

>>94357
Brawny grumbles a little as he gets up

"Too much mead… Even for me."

The two of you leave the tavern. It's morning out and many ponies are wlaking around in their mining outfits, some of them about to start their workdays while others just finished their nightshifts.

You can hear some yelling down the street and see a small newspaper stand with ponies crowded all around it.

>>94359
Silver shrugs lazily

"I don't know, maybe. All I know is the town and caravans are suffering badly under the constant raids on the supply lines. All help is appreciated."

No.94371

>>94369
"How appreciated?"

No.94374

>>94369
"With my luck the zebras have taken over that hold too. Why can't we ever venture inland?"

No.94376

>>94374
"In that case we just clean the place."

No.94378

>>94369
I walk into the kitchen,
"W- What's this about r- raids?"

No.94379

>>94369
"Take a few deep breaths commander, I'm gonna check some shit out."
Head over to the crowd and see what's going on

No.94381

>>94374
"Wh-what's with zebras n-now?"

No.94383

>>94381
"I meant the Oddomanes. That the Oddomanes might have taken over this region's hold. Like they did at the river."

No.94385

"Sleep well?"

No.94388

>>94385
"E- Erumal, c- could you n- not ask Zivur about yesterday? He d- doesn't want to t- talk about it. Th- The same g- goes for the r- rest of you, b- by the way."

No.94389

No.94392

>>94371
He sighs with a slight smile

"VERY appreciated. Not just by the merchants but probably your empress too."

>>94374
"We aren't at war right now, so that would be… surprising."

>>94379
Ponies all around the stand are busy reading the newspaper

The pony behind the stand is busy yelling out the headlines

"DIPLOMATIC DISASTER BETWEEN EMPRESS LAVINIA AND ODDOMANE DIPLOMATS! BORDER TENSIONS CONTINUE TO RISE! EXPERTS SAY ANOTHER WAR IS MORE LIKELY NOW THAN EVER!"

No.94393

>>94388
"Aaaaand n-now we are t-talking about it. Sm-smoothe move…"

>>94391
"I'm n-not…"

No.94395

"Because that would mean their soldiers can't watch over the caravans, causing the bandit raids like the one we were subjected to. And Silver is asking us to investigate."

No.94396

"So you are going to abandon Sol?"

No.94397

Krypta shows you the way to the bathroom

>>94433
There are several articles on the front page. Apparently things got a bit heated during diplomatic talks between the empress and some oddomane diplomats. The article speaks of the Oddomanes pressing claims on the Whoves archipelago, and proposing - more like demanding - that the Trotantines give it up. The empresses response was less than subtle: 'I have already prepared my counter-proposal. It reads thusly: You may strategically place your wonderful lips upon my posterior and kiss it repeatedly!'

This combined with arising questions concerning the Riverwatch incident as well as some other happenings is only fueling the hatred and distrust between the two empires further. An article also talks about how both nations are no doubt secretly stockpiling resources and increasing their defense budgets.

The stronghold is perched on the side of a mountain. The wall itself is quite thick, though not even close to rivaling the one you saw in the capital city. You follow the mare over the drawbridge and through the gate and hit on the large open yard inside. To the left of you you see a series of small buildings, which you presume to be the barracks. In the front there is a tall building with multiple banners on top of it, which looks to be the main hall. To the right you see a small temple with sun and moon statues and various other decorations on adorning it.

The mare heads towards the large building in front of you without saying a word. You notice there aren't very much ponies walking around aside from the soldiers standing guard on the wall and towers.

There is a small fireplace providing some warmth as well as a large woolen carpet on the floor. Aside from that however, the room is bare of any further decorations. In the middle of the room stands a heavy wooden table with a model map of the entire area.

A gruff looking old earth pony stands at one of the stained windows smoking a cigar. A unicorn is warming his hooves at the fireplace. They both look at the party as they enter.

"Commander Aquillus, Sir Divus. You have visitors from the capital."

"See this right here? That's us. Drakenberg Hold. Built only 46 years ago to keep an eye on the area."

He moves his hoof northwards pointing at another castle figurine, this one also built on the side of a mountain.

"This… this is Ravelsburg hold. A castle built over almost 300 years ago. It had the exact same job as this castle. That is until it was besieged 50 years ago by the Oddomanes during a war. The castle fell and was abandoned. The entire area became Oddomane territory after we lost the war and the Oddomanes never bothered to repair and use it for themselves."

Last time on Trotantium the decline

The party traveled to Drakenberg, set on finding out why the garrison was unable to keep the trade caravans from being raided. When they arrived they found out the castle was undermanned and unable to spare the troops to secure the entire trade route. Instead, it was decided to assault Ravelsburg, the bandits' base of operations in Oddomane territory. The party is waiting for the garrison to finish its preparations for the upcoming siege.

The convoy sets off, heading northwards at a slow pace on a rocky and precarious path. The journey takes long, almost two days, as the carts do not allow for swift movement through these mountains.
