Lavinia nods in agreement.

"That it was. Be careful out there Pick, I'd hate to lose you too."

Pick shrugs indifferently

"Ducatia has been locked up?"

The empress nods.

"She has, I've thrown her into the oubliette to await her sentence. Haven't decided what to do yet…"

>>61642

Ducatia closes her eyes and smiles at you slightly.

"And who confirmed that? No, we can come and go in alone as we please, which we don't do very often."

>>61645

Crescent waves the two of you goodbye as you walk back to the store in the Upper City. The store is opened and the mare you saw yesterday quickly recognizes the both of you, fetching your gear for you and handing it over. It's very shiny, prim and proper.

"Was everything to your wishes last night? Was your outfit fitting, oui?"

>>61644

The two mares don't really seem to care about Piercy and quickly go around him, blocking your path.

"Are you sure you don't want some candy?"

"Come come sister! What kind of question is that? Who doesn't want some of our candy?"

"A rhetorical question of course! Nopony or zebra could resist these!"

To demonstrate her point she shoves a hoof-full of candy into your mouth. They taste pretty good.

"I don't know, I'm just a simple merchant trying to make her living. Proof? I… I talked to your friend yesterday in the garden. The donkey… Falkmar. I told him about somepony I know in Trotopolis that could have information on this matter! Just ask him! I'm innocent!"

>>61667
"Well I hope your wife and you have a grande day! Au remercie!"

>>61668
The Empress shakes her head firmly.
"No doubt she cleared out all evidence when she knew we were on her trail."

>>61671
"Your loss friend!"

"No taste whatsoever! Such a waste!"

"A true shame sister of mine."

"If you change your mind zebra, here's our card!"

One of the two mares puts a small business card in your saddlebags, before backing off together with her sisters and going back to their candy stand, leaving you and Piercy alone.

IT CONTINUES

Falkmar and Sol are both standing outside the boutique, having just picked their equipment back up they left behind. They still have their ball attire with them, you never know when that might come in handy!

Erumal is in the dungeons below the imperial palace, talking to Ducatia who is being held in the oubliette.

Dusk is making his way over the dungeons together with Pick Wick and is currently talking to the Empress.

The Empress narrows her eyes, looking a little disconcerted.

"We have the evidence that she was the one behind it! It's just a question of who she's working together with."

"He's called Lightening Twirl. I admit that he might not be the most trustworthy of ponies… but he's a smuggler as well as a information broker. She purses her lips as she waves a hoof in the air dismissively.

"Don't worry, we'll catch all of the culprits involved in this without a doubt. Pick wick will track them all down just like she tracked down that traitor Ducatia."

Pick quickly bows her head in respect.

"Of course I will your highness. It will be done. Safely of course. I will be more vigilant from now on."

You leave the small room and enter the long hallway again. The servant is waiting for you and motions you to follow him back up to the main floor.

She rubs her chin in thought for a while before speaking up.

"I will travel to Trotopolis. Secretly. Collect clues and information there hopefully. Talk to some ponies."

>>68859
"That is up to the Empress to decide, sir."

You eventually reach the staircase and make your way back upstairs. You see the Empress, Pick Wick and Dusk talking to each other down the large hallway of the palace. The servant bows to you and heads off on his own again.

Falkmar and Sol have reached the palace as well and see all of the above as well as they enter through the main doorways.

"So, you talked to Ducatia then? And she even gave you information?"

She contemplates this for a moment, then waves her hoof dismissively again.

"Give me the name of that pony and I'll let my people take care of it. Pick wick is taking the letter with her to Trotopolis for further investigation from an expert on that field. Don't you worry, we'll find out the truth. As for you and your friends, I have another job for you to do. One that could turn out to be very nasty given Ducatia's questionable allegiance. One of those things was trading and transporting goods from and to Clopantinople. And this ladies and gentlecolts, puts me in quite the pickle."

She walks up to a reinforced iron box standing in one of the corners of the room. It is quite large, almost as big as a pony and locked up very neatly with a large lock which looks like it is enchanted by a spell. She continues as she leans against it nonchalantly.

Once again, the Empress waves a hoof dismissively.

"That is of no importance. All you need to know about it that it is an object I would rather not lose and needs to be brought to Draken safely."

She clears her throat and approaches the party closer.

"The reason I choose to use a simple trade caravan rather than a armed heavy escort is so it doesn't draw too much attention. And I'd rather not waste all that horsepower and money when there is an easier way. Of course, as I said before, Ducatia's questionable loyalties are troublesome to this plan as she knew about it. That is why I want you ponies to escort said caravan. Not as representatives of the myself, but as regular, run-of-the-mill mercenaries looking to strike some coin."

The Empire is unfortunately not as safe as it used to be within its borders, due to the lack of horsepower to patrol and secure every area and road."

>>68928
"Believe me Falkmar, this is damn important."

>>68930
>>68927
"Good, the caravan leaves tomorrow morning. The caravan leader, Silver Pasture, is the only pony who knows you are there on my orders, so you should keep it that way. Report to the western gate at dawn. Seeing as how most of my guests have left to go back to their own demesne's, you are welcome to stay here tonight."

Polygross speaks up, having remained silent the entire time.

"Seeing your continued service for the Crown, we would like to grant you an honorary title of knighthood. Dubbing you all officially Knights of the Order of the Dragon. An order dedicated to the protection of the Trotantine Crown against all its enemies. If you accept to that is."

>>68948
"You are of course not obligated to join if you don't want to… for whatever reason."

>>68947
"The fact that commoners are allowed in is very exceptional. Usually only high ranking nobles are allowed in. Ponies like Duke Quake for example."

He walks over to the table in the room, opening a lone small box and showcasing five bronze necklaces, each having a small golden pendant shaped in a dragon attached to it.

"These are tokens of your membership, specifically crafted for knights part of the Order. Aside from this you also get a membership scroll signed by the Empress, to prove your legitimacy. As for weapons and armor… Well… The members are expected to have their own, because they usually don't lack wealth. Still, the title is important and very prestigious."

The necklaces also provide a +1 to all initiative rolls

>>68946
He walks over and put the necklace around your neck.

"Then you are now officially a Knight of the Order of the Dragon."

He rubs the back of his neck sheepishly.

"Normally there is a more impressive ceremony for this, but we don't really have time for that now. Sorry."

"I'm sure he would be proud of you. Take good care of it. Knights serve honorably and humbly."

>>68966
Polygross and the empress both nod in agreement.

"Yes we do, so please accept these necklaces if you wish. And good luck to you all on your mission. We will speak again soon, I hope."

And with that, they both take their leave from the throne room. The box with the necklaces still stands on the table as well as the scrolls.

Well, if I know Zivur, and I think I do, the first thing he is going to need to some time away from you. Once he shows back up you'll want to give him a gift of some sort. If he rejoins our group before we leave Draken just go off into the forest, kill the monster without damaging its body too much, and drag it back to the group. There isn't all that much activity yet on the streets of the capital city so spotting the caravan isn't hard to do. Eight carts, each being pulled by a single pony are lined up behind each other on the street, ready to leave through the gate. You spot the reinforced box you were tasked to protect on the last cart. There are other armed ponies there too, which you presume to be other mercenaries. Between those mercenaries you spot a familiar face, the one eyed mare whom you let go a few days prior. INSTANT TIMESKIP

It has been three long days since the party set off with the caravan from Clopantinople. Three long , boring and uneventful days. After spending the night in the town of Mariville, the party has reached the Drachten Pass. A very wobbly and craggy road that snakes through the majestic Shudderpeaks. This will definitely slow the pace of the caravan down! It's late in the afternoon and there is a very strong and cold northern wind sweeping through the narrow pass. Even with the sun high and mighty in the sky, it's still a bit chilly out. Silver Pastures is once again soaring through the skies on the lookout for any possible ambushes.

He also looks pissed and charges at you using his spiked helmet as a battering ram. Roll to dodge.

>>76323
You charge in for a attack but the stallion who was laughing at you earlier blocks you off using his iron shield, giving you a toothy grin..

"Easy now cunt, don't want you to hurt anypony!"

>>76327
Before he can say any more however, Dusk sends out another jolt of electricity. Even though it's not as powerful as last one, it still knocks the stallion off balance and leaves him open for an attack.

>>76328
While Sol and Dusk are occupied, the stallion in black armor charges in with his goons at his side and slashes at you with his greatsword. Your armor luckily protects you from the worst, though you do stumble back a bit from the blow. Crescent gasps as she sees this happening from under the cart.

Several cart pullers were killed in by arrows, not having any armor on whatsoever to reduce their weight. The mercs are faring slightly better, but are still losing pretty hard to the attackers.

>>76342
You leap to the air again, handily dodging the slow buffalo. As he charges into thin air, he looks around him, confused as to where you disappeared to.

>>76344
You try to push and pull at him, attempting to bring him down on the ground, but fail to do so as he remains firm in place.

As he poises his greatsword to stab at you, Sol >>76339 moves in between you and takes the blow. Luckily, once again, her armor saves the day and she only stumbles a bit from the blow.

>>76345
Tsk tsk, always so keen on spamming that attack. And always it bites you in the ass.

Tired from performing the two lasts spells, your horn fails to launch the lightening and instead sends the jolt through your body. Your legs weaken as your muscles scream in agony and you fall to the ground helpless.

Suddenly one of the attackers lets out a sharp scream as a stinger impales her spine, making her collapse in a thrashing heap before stopping to move forever.

The mare next to her only has time to look up in horror at the undead manticore before it bites into her face, crushing her skull with a loud crunch.

"Good boy!"

The cloaked Zebra hops off his mount, only to be met by another attacker wielding a large axe, ready to stike - before an arrow pierces his eye, coming from a very badly burned undead archer a short way.

Another attacker, still shocked by the sudden appearence of the undead can't react to the hoof touching his chest, aging him to a ripe old age, before the Kris severs his throat.

After hours of walking through the cold, the party eventually reaches the town of Draken. Located in a valley, Draken is a true mining town. It was built by and for miner ponies and has grown to a very prosperous hub of trade over the years. Drakonian weaponry is known for its durability and is one of the most exported goods from the Trotantine Empire.

The town itself is littered with blacksmiths and manufactories, the fire coming from their forges creates a striking contrast with the rest of the frosty and mountainous landscape. There are several railroads built around town, all of them coming from the mines that were built into the surrounding mountains.

You find the office pretty quickly in the back of the warehouse, it's considerably warmer in there. As you walk inside, the same stallion that payed the group earlier is sitting at his desk, apparently in conversation with a mare in dressed in inquisitors outfit, save for the large hat. They both turn to look at you, evidently annoyed at the disruption.

>>81557
After some looking around and a bit of luck, you spot the reinforced crate stored in a different section of the warehouse. It is kept in place by chains and a magic field.

>>81577
You exchange your Zweihander for two Drakonian steel shortswords.

"Now hold on one second…"

He quickly walks over to a drawer, looking through some papers inside it before picking one out and reading it.

"I think I understand now… How stupid of me not to see this earlier!"

He turns back to you, smiling

"You work for the Empress… and you were tasked to deliver that crate to professor Catchcard!"

He hoofs it to you. It's a letter detailing the entire mission that was apparently meant for Silver Pastures.

"Well, you see. Catchcard lives here in Draken, he's a famous Herpetologist. Your mission was to get the that crate safely to Draken, while Silver Pastures was supposed to drop it off at Catchcard's residence. But seeing as Silver Pastures is unable to do that, I suppose that task now belongs to you! Did you not speak to him at all about this?"
