Dreamkicker has used his magic to vaporize a box and cause a landslide of tithes and wooden crates that block the staircase and force the two remaining vampires to fight the party.

>>485384
You aren't able to make you spell works, but Hornbeard keeps you safe and does some damage to the two remaining vampires as well.

>>485385
You leap forwards and use your massive jaws and paws to tear apart a vampire even as it turns to dust in your mouth.

>>485386
Remedy made. Now all you need to do is have her take it.

Hornbeard flashes with light as youy heal him. He also runs forwards and drives a long piece of wood through the vampires heart. It explodes into dust.

>>485401
>>485402
The last vampire is dead.

The party is in a large, poorly lit warehouse in the Temple district. The staircase that the vampires were fleeing towards has been buried under boxes and material tithes, but can be uncovered with some work.

485404

>>485403
"And where did our new friends go?"

485405

>>485403
>>485404
I'll point towards the remaining minion, and the other two corpses.

485412

>>485408
"Well hey, waste not want not."

>>485407
"Yeah. I don't think they were as good as they said if they got picked out this easily. Posting a bunch of fliers probably didn't help. I kinda wanted to talk to them."

485413

>>485410
You try to summon the power, but can't.

485414

>>485412
"So do we search their remains for our payment and leave? Or do we try to take them to a temple?"

485415

>>485414
"I guess we probably oughta try and bring 'em back in case they had a plan. I got no problem with being compensated for all this though, unless one of your books told you that was bad for some reason."

485416

>>485413
Bleh. Climb up on Bessy's back and slump over.
Let's see if a comfier spot helps '1d10'

>>485411
>>485414

Roll #1 4 = 4

485417

>>485415

485418

485419

>>485417
I'll just snort.

485420

>>485417
"Not enough big words for you, half-hair?"

485421

>>485416
I give a sad look.
"What's wrong Pommy?…"

485422

>>485421
I turn my attention to Pommy. Can I look at his insides to see what's hurt?

485425

>>485422
He screwed up a powerful healing spell very badly and did some internal damage. Everything inside him is equally messed up.

I cock my head.
"You take a bad hit back there?"

>>485424
"Nah, I can't really bring back much more than their bodies."

485429

>>485425
"You're hurt, Pommy. Maybe we should go see another priest."

485430

>>485425
Well, Bessy has this well in hoof, so I'm going to sniff around, see what I can't find amongst the dead. '1d10'

>>485429
>>485425
"Alright. I'm too pooped to fix it."
Lay down on Bessy

485434

>>485426
You cannot go down the stairs because Dreamkicker blocked them by collapsing boxes full of material tithes.

>>485427
You mix up a brew good for three casts.
You don't need to roll to dink it because you are out of combat.

>>485430
Nothing useful. The bodies were all looted by the vampires.

485435

>>485434
I give it to Pommy.
"Here! Drink this!"

485436

>>485434
That was fast.
I'll drag the two non-minioned corpses to the others, and start digging through those boxes and debris so that we can pursue. '1d10'

If it isn't clear, I meant Mend by that.

485440

>>485438
"Got my portable bed with me. I'm good for a sleepover."

485441

You drag the two undefiled corpses over to the party and start digging through the rubbish blocking the stairway.

485451

>>485447
"That's it…"
I sit down on the ground and frown.

>>485449
"I'm sorry I couldn't fix ya up little buddy…"

485452

>>485450
"Kinda!"

>>485451
"That's okay, you tried as hard as you could."
Yawn and bury my face in her fur

485453

>>485442
A whirlwind fills the warehouse as the spirits become almost visible. The bodies of Bellmount and Jackson Evening stitch themselves back together then stand up even as life returns to their eyes.
"What happened?"

485454

>>485453
"You died."

485455

>>485453

PAUSED

489829

Previously on CQ2 the party was ambushed by vampires. They managed to fight off the vampires, but all four vampire hunters they had met were killed. After the battle Olga resurrected the two vampire hunter's who were still able to be resurrected. Andelia stepped out of the warehouse to get some fresh air and was promptly picked up by some kind of giant bat monster. The party eventually learned that she was missing and went outside where they found Andelia and two bat monsters.

Both of the bat monsters, now wounded, break off the fight and fly deeper into the Temple district.

489830

>>489829
So… they're gone?
I'll help Bessy up.
Since we're out of combat this shouldn't need a roll, correct?

489831

>>489829
I dust myself off and pick myself up.
"Is everypony still here?"

489832

>>489831
"Ugh.. I think so. Where the heck did those things go?"

489833

>>489830
The bat creatures are currently leaving. The party can still see them.

489834

>>489833
But they're out of combat range.
"So, are we chasing after them?"

489835

489836

>>489830
>>489834
I reluctantly take his help.
"Yeah! We gotta find out where they're going!"

489837

"I wouldn't feel right leaving 'em free to attack anyone else.."

489838

>>489834
"Go go gogogogo!"

489839

>>489832
"I think we scared them off."

I turn to everyone else.

"Listen – that's a perfect example of why you mustn't wander off! From now on we're sticking together."

>>489834
"And go deeper into the district at night, practically blind? We need to find out where the rest of the vampires were running off towards. Let's go look around the basement they were moving towards."

489840

>>489839
I'll grimace slightly.
"It was just a hole to the outside. I stopped digging through once everyone else made it through the front door."

489841

>>489839
>>489840
"So they'd be long gone by now?"

489842

>>489841
"Or they were the bat monsters we just chased off."
I'll look around a moment.
"Are we all in one piece? Was anyone bitten?"

489843

>>489839
"But-"

>>489842
"No! But we gotta go before they fly away too far and we lose sight of them!"
I start chasing after the bat monsters.
'1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

489844

>>489840
"They were headed down when I collapsed their exit. We can easily move the debris and find where they were going.

"That is undoubtedly where their nest is. And if we find that, we can be a little closer to finding out what's going on in this city."

I start heading back into the warehouse.

"So unless there are any important points you wish to raise, I suggest we start moving."

489845

>>489843
"Grr. Bessy! Get back here!"

489846

>>489843
>>489844
I'll look between the two.
"I suppose we're chasing Bessy, then."
And I'll try and keep up with Bessy. '1d10'

489848

489849

>>489848

The two of you lose sight of the bat monsters, but they are flying in a straight line. If you continue you might be able to catch up. Suddenly, Dreamkicker quite literally zaps past all of you.

>>489850
You take off running after your intellectually challenged friends. You have the bright idea to try and propel your hooves with telekinesis as you run, but something goes wrong. You can feel electricity course through your legs as you quickly pass Bessy and keep pace with the bat monsters. You quickly arrive in a large circular plaza. On the west side of the plaza you can see a tall temple with a giant golden sun design on its front. On the east side of the plaza you can see a similar temple whose roof is covered in silver that gleams in the moonlight. In the center of the plaza, surround by a tall iron fence, is a very large ruined building. The moonlight doesn't touch anything beyond the fence as well as it does in the rest of the plaza and all of the trees around the ruin are withered.
One of the bat monsters flies into the ruin. The other grabs a large clump of bricks from a chimney and throws is at a gaurdhouse. Five ponies run out of it and are divebombed by the bat monster.

"Whoa. Who knew he had it in him."

489855

>>489852
You arrive and see the temples and ruin that Dreamkicker sees. You can also see one of the bat monsters attacking five ponies near a guardhouse.

>>489853
The moon temple is closer than the sun temple. But there are plenty of temples with tightly closed doors all around the edge of the plaza.

489856

"What are you doing out here at night, fool?"

489877

>>489876
"Simple. There was a small group of Vampire hunters that met at sunset. We decided to attend the meeting, exchange notes."
I'll shake my head.
"As luck would have it, they were attacked by a group of vampires that very evening. They doused the room in some sort of darkness powder, and killed the other four hunters in the span of a few moments. This bat monster is, I'm assuming, one of the few vampires that escaped us."

489878

>>489875
"Yup."

>>489876
"Oh lighten up. At least it's not eating you anymore."

489879

>>489878
"So uh… you gonna ride around on it like the last one you had?"

489881

>>489877
Her scowl lessens.
"Those fools are dead? Serves the right for not accepting our invitation to work for us. The darkness powder could have been bought or stolen from any number of places, but those bat monsters?"
She shakes her head.
"It takes a vampire with at least some amount of skill to do that. Not the scum that has been stalking the streets."

One of the guards is trembling.
"I-i-i-i-it went into the ruins. D-d-do you think that is where they n-n-n-nest?"

The mare laughs at him.
"Don't be stupid. The vampires are smarter than that."

>>489878
She rolls her eyes.
"We had it under control."

>>489879
>>489880
She grunts.
"Ugh. Those idiots deserved every bit of what they got."

489882

>>489880
"I'm thinkin' about it."

489883

>>489881
"We brought two of them back, while the other two were consumed. It seems they have a habit of dying."
I'll shake my head.
"And inquisitor, wouldn't it make a sort of ironic sense to hide under the noses of the ones pursuing you?"

489884

>>489881
"If that's not where their nest is, why's it tryin' to go in there?"

489885

>>489884
"They hardly seemed clever enough for a trap."

489886

>>489881
It's where they nest, but most certainly a trap.

489887

>>489886
>>489885
I look at both of them and shake my head
"Make up your minds already!"

489888

>>489887
"Well then all we need to do is watch out for traps."

489889

>>489883
"Well, I'm sure they'll make better decisions this time. As for them hiding in there?"
She laughs.
"Don't be ridiculous. Nothing living or unliving hides in there. That's because almost nothing that goes inside ever comes out. The few that have almost always come out insane. Besides, guards patrol the fence night and day. They would know if vampires are coming and going."
She wheels around and snarls at the guards.
"Right?"

They all step back and look away from her.
"Oh yes."
"Absolutely."
"Ever vigilant."

>>489884
"Because it was desperate, obviously. That's the only reason anything would ever flee into the Temple of the Sisters."

>>489885
"Don't underestimate them."

>>489886
>>489888
"Are you really thinking of going in there?"

489890

489891

>>489889
"If we can't flush them out or seal them off."

489892

>>489889
"We think that the vampires we encountered were attempting to escape through a tunnel system. That would explain why you don't see anything come or go, normally.

"Your guards' poor vigilance would explain the rest."

489893

>>489889
"What if they were mad before they went in?"

489894

>>489890
She looks at you with a blank expression for a few seconds.
"It's a temple. Dedicated to the sisters. You know, your Equestrian ones? As a side note, also the place where the shadow that destroyed most of the city and killed most of its inhabitants originated from when your night pegacorn went insane!"

>>489891
"You really are thinking of going in there, aren't you?"

>>489892
"Tunnels make more sense. It would also explain the disappearing sewage workers better than our swamp-thing theory."

>>489893
"That's…entirely possible. Still though, I cannot see how they could all survive in there."

489895

>>489889
I tilt my head at her
"What's so weird about it that drives people insane?"

489896

>>489894
"That's what I was asking about! The entire temple is dangerous?"

489897

>>489894
"The inquisition also wasn't aware of how that thing in the manor basement could have survived this long."
I'll shrug.
"Still, we are open to helping clear it out… for the right price."

489898

>>489895
"They talk about a wind and voices. Nothing else they say makes any sense."

>>489896
"As far as anyone knows."

>>489897
"Ha! If you can clear out whatever is in that temple I'm sure the people of this city would instal all of you as the new rulers of this city."

489899

>>489898
"Who in their right mind would want that?"
I'll chuckle."

Your fourth eye opens. The plaza around you is much the same, although it is crowded with ponies and ostriches, neither the sun or moon temple have been built, and the temple of the sisters is intact and nothing around it is dead or dark. Impatient to get to something goo, you speed up time and watch the sun as it slowly dips towards the horizon. Suddenly, though, the sun stops. You return the time of flow to normal just in time to watch the sun jerk backwards on its path, then forwards, then backwards, then side to side. The ponies and ostriches in the plaza are too busy watching the sun's antics with dropped jaws to begin panicking as the sun rockets up to its noon position and hangs there.

That is when the screaming starts inside the temple. The roof and its many tall domes and spires collapse, and from the plume of dust and debris spreads an inky black shadow. Tendrils of it shoot down into the ground, and everything they touch things start to die or melt into the darkness. As more and more people die large chunks break away from the shadow in the sky and slip into other parts of the city.

Your vision ends.

The main part of it never left. Instead, a thick, tree-like shadow connected it to the darkness hanging over the city. A few days after the shadow appeared a group of ponies, ostriches, and other species over a hundred strong charge the temple. they cut down the shadow-tainted people and monsters around it and stream inside. After a few hours the shadowy tree flickers then vanishes. You can see tiles ripped off roofs as wind rushes to fill the void where the shadow pillar was, and wisps of moonlight are pulled along with the wind into the ruins. Eventually, less than a dozen people leave the temple. In the moths follow the shadow is fought and pushed into one section of a city. The fighting continues as a wall is hastily built over the course of weeks, then a bigger wall built over that one until it looks exactly like the one that exists today. Pegasi generate a massive storm cloud over the wall and use to to place a cap over the contained part of the city.

Previously on Crypt Quest 2:

The party chased a pair of bat monsters into the center of the Temple District. One of them flew into a very large, ruined, fenced off temple in the center of a plaza and the other attacked some ponies in a guard house near the fence. The party met one of the inquisitors, and earth pony mare, while fighting. After the fighting Happyhorn was able to raise the bat monster as a minion. When they expressed interest in chasing the bat monster into the temple the inquisitor told them they would probably die and explained that this temple is where the horror that attacked the city centuries ago originated from.

Relax and watch the rest of the party beat down the vampire.

497741

Dreamkicker shocks the legs out from under the vampire while Brutus jumps into the air and bodyslams it. The vampire is reduced to a red paste which turns to dust.

Vampires defeated.

497742

>>497741
"Well that was easy enough. On to the nature temple."

497744

>>497741
Shake off the vampire dust, and keep going.

You light your lantern.

497757

Well okay then.

Can I send my skeleton out to walk in front as we slowly move forward?

497760

I hop into the temple.

497761

Are you guys going to go into the forest or not?

497762

>>497759
"We are, I'm just curious. It seems strange."
I'll be quiet for a moment.
"You don't think… the twins' influence has something to do with this?"

497763

497764

>>497761
Seems that way

Go along since I'm on her back

"You are all out late."

497767

>>497766
"Not much choice, unfortunately. On the bright side, the local feral vampire population is down a good dozen."

"Really? How?"

>>497768
"Great! I love talking about the twins!"

>>497769
He grins.
"I dunno, don't you like it out here at night?"

>>497770
"Of course not. The door is pen, come in."

497772

>>497771
Let's go inside.

497773

>>497771
"They tried to ambush us."
I'll note he said "about" the twins, not "to."
Then head inside.

497774

>>497771
"About the twins? We need to talk to the twins!"

497775

>>497772
The inside is lit by torches and starlight. There aren't many people around.

>>497773
"Oh geez, and you are all okay? Did any of you get bit?"

>>497774
He rubs his eyes.
"Oh, my bad. Long shift."

497776

>>497771
"Yes of cou-NO! It's dumb and full of bitey stuff!"

>>497772
Follow him inside

497777

"Possibly. I think Pomelo might have been, so we're getting that checked out."

497778

He laughs.

>>497777
"Okay. Head into the greenhouses to find a healer."

497779

>>497778
"C'mon Pommy, let's go get you healed."
I head to the greenhouse.

497780

"Noted."
And head in after the others.

497781

Let out a burp

You head through the holes in the wall until you find the greenhouses. There are some ponies working inside.

>>497780
You follow them inside. The inside of the temple is mostly empty of people and lit by torches and starlight.

497784

>>497783
"Can somepony here heal my little buddy?!"
I gesture up to Pomelo.

497785

>>497782
"Ow! I'm already feeling beat from earlier, you don't have to make it worse!"

497786

>>497784
"Of course."
A mare walks over to him and wave her hooves over his head.
"There. All done."

497787

>>497783
It just seems… odd. Seemed much more… lively during the day. Though I suppose that makes sense. Still, something just doesn't feel right. Probably the vampires in the basement, and my own wargishness at odds.

497788

>>497787
You be the vampires ate everyone.

497789

>>497788
Well, we already know their unregulated feedings have been enthralling everyone. Can't really blame me for being suspicious.

497790

>>497785
"A beating to beat the nasty out of a kid!"

497791

Head towards the Twins' entrance.

497792

>>497786
Hop up and give a big ol' stretch
"Thanks! I'm feelin muuuuch better!"

>>497790
"It didn't work! But I'm feelin' better now anyway so there!"
Stick my tongue out at her

497793

>>497786

I turn to Pommy.
"You feeling any better little buddy?"

497794

>>497791

>>497792
>>497793
"You're welcome."
She goes back to picking fruit.

497795

>>497794
I'm going to follow the unicorn. Broom closet ahoy.

You both find Dreamkicker. He is in the closet.

>>500039
You cannot see him in the large room at the front of the temple, but you do spot Happyhorn and Andelia going to the living area where the priests eat and sleep.

500044

"Dreamkicker, is something wrong?"

500045

>>500042
Follow after them

So, ih what, fresh blood?

You follow them and find them talking to the closeted Dreamkicker.

>>500047
Fresh blood, yes.
Hornbeard taps you on the shoulder.
"Mis- Olga, may we speak privately?"

500049

What are they saying to me?

I leave.
Are they following me?

>>500048
"Certainly."

Lead us to a corner somewhere.

500053

>>500048
Squeeze in between Andelia and Happyhorn
"Hi Dreamy! I'm feeling all better now."

"Bye, see you at the party!"
Nope.

>>500051
He shuffles on his hooves.
"I'm…thank you for letting me serve you for so long, and thank you for giving me new life and a new body. I have no wish to sound ungrateful but do you think I could…stay here, for a while? Not in this temple, specifically, but somewhere where I can meditate and try to remember who I was?"

500056

>>500053
I squeeze Pomelo.

"Good. I was worried."

500057

>>500055
I go find DK now.

500058

>>500044
"No, now that Pomelo is healed. But we need to talk to the Twins. Maybe they know more about this evil spirit… thing."

500059

>>500057
You follow a trail of confetti and find Pomelo, as well as everyone else.

500060

>>500059
"Hiya DK! What'cha doin' in the closet?"

500061

>>500060
"Yes, let's all just crowd in here and ask me what I'm doing."

I sigh, prick my left hoof, and open the doorway.

500062

>>500055
"Of course. As of now, you are unbound from me. You need not worry about your past life, for you have a whole new one ahead! Of course, should you wish for guidance, I will be here longer, and you are free to travel as you see fit."

500063

>>500058
"Right."
is it night time?

500064

>>500061
"Oh can we? That sounds cozy."

500065

>>500063
Yeah, it's still nighttime.

500066

>>500062
He bows.
"Thank you, Olga. I will seek you out if I have questions."
He turns and walks away into the temple.

>>500061
You feel the skin on your hooof tear as more blood is sucked out to power the magic. Eventually the sucking stops and the back wall sinks down and reveal s a set of stairs leading into the darkness.

>>500063
Yes.

500067

>>500066
Wave him off, then return to the blood thing. Light my torch for the dark.

You all go down into the first room of the labyrinth that leads to the Twins. Each wall here has a number of doors on it, and all of you remember that every door but the correct one is trapped. A pony dressed up in a suit of armor greets all of you.
"Hi! We could have sworn you guys never got the invitation, but I'm glad you all made it! Where are your costumes?"

500073

>>500072
"I'm a goat!"

500074

>>500072
I pull my poncho up over my head
"Uh… boo?"

"Spooky!"

>>500075
"Aww, that's cute!"

>>500076
You spin around to try and pull a costume out of thin air, but come face to face with
the fanged ponies from earlier. One of them has red dripping down their chin.

"Do you need help with your costume?"

>>500077
She puts a hoof on your forehead.
"Are you feeling okay, Dreamkicker?"

500079

>>500072
Stay quiet, still, stern and hope I look like something.

I duck and hide underneath Pomelo and cover my eyes.

500084

"Um right, are the Twins at the party?"

500085

>>500081
You try to hide under Pomelo but throw him into the air. He lands on your back with a loud pomf.

>>500082
"Did they get you sick or something? I thought they couldn't spread diseases."

>>500083
She laughs.
"You're like the fifth goat that has come through here pretended to be the other gender. What is up with you guys?"

>>500084
She rolls her eyes.
"Where else would they be? Parties are what they live for, er, you know what I mean. They like parties. They even changed this one up a bit for you guys."

500086

>>500085
"Yes. I have a fever, and the only cure is talking to them. Where are they?"

500087

>>500085
"Ah, great! Tell them Andelia is here, and can't wait to see their costumes. "

500088

>>500085
"We're awfully horny."

500089

>>500085
"I- Is the vampire gone Pommy?…"

500090

>>500086
"What a weird fever. They're in their place like they always are, but if you are sick maybe you should wait until the party is over?"

>>500087
"Why not tell them yourself? Do you not want to go to the party."

>>500088
She laughs and claps you on the back.
"You're great! I like you!"

500091

She slowly nods her head.
"Ohhhhh! Of course! Now, the labyrinth got turned into a funhouse for the party so for this night only you can go directly through the room. Take the door right behind me and you'll get there."

500097

>>500096
"Thanks!" Go inside the door.

500098

>>500091
"Oh. Okay!"
I hop back up.

>>500093
"Huh? Is DK gonna do that dance he likes to do when he thinks me and Pommy aren't home?"

500099

>>500098
"Maybe, but we need to get there first."

500100

>>500098
The ponies are still there.

What kind of costumes are these temple people wearing?

500110

>>500108
It's not an actual house. It is the exit of the labyrinth that guards the passage to the Twin's place.
You see the Twins appear and very quickly drag Happyhorn and his bat monster minion into the haunted house.

>>500105
>>500107
>>500109
You walk through the door and very quickly realize that this is the Nightmare Night festival. Despite the history of this city most of the people here are enjoying themselves bobbing for apples, launching pumpkins at walls and mouthy pegasi, playing games, and having a good time. People are dressed up as knights, spies, local celebrities, other races, monsters, skeletons, ghosts, and various other things.

The Twins appear in front of you, one wearing a large wig and fake mustache, and the other wearing a frilly pink dress and holding a sparkly wand. They open their mouths then vanish.

>>500106
You walk through the door and appear in the room the other appeared in and see everything Andelia saw. The others are in the main room ahead of you,
but before you can do anything the twins, wearing rediculous costumes, appear in front of you. Without speaking a word they drag you through the door of the "haunted house" and take you past several twists and turns before you can do anything but blink. The one in the dress firmly presses you against the wall. They start to speak at the same time but break apart halfway through.
"What.""Is."

>>500124
I giggle and knock on its head.
"Do you have a splitting headache?"

500128

>>500127
I scowl a bit at you.

500129

>>500128
I stick my tongue out at you.

500130

>>500119
"Uh, okay wow. I don't think I have that many hooves. Let's see…Andy the druid, I'm pretty sure it was somewhere over by the warehouses, I don't think so, and I don't think so? We weren't followed back here."

500131

>>500125
You follow them into the haunted house and see everything they see. This place is pretty tacky considering it was put together by vampires.

>>500127
The pony laughs at your question.
"WINNER!"
A chest falls out of the ceiling and lands in front of you.

>>500130
They manage to turn even more pail and one disappear for a second. It reappears a moment later.
"She is fine now."
"Which warehouses?"
"Lots of them here."
"Are you sure you weren't followed?"
"Can you guess at how many?"

>>500126
You open the door of one of the bedrooms. You are pushed into the room and land on your side, letting you see one of the Twins wearing a wig and mustache. She sniffs you then disappears.

500132

>>500131
I open the chest!

500133

>>500131
"Yeah…lotta them here I dunno where exactly. We did see a normal one, but it ran away before we could do anything to him. The big ones just dropped out of the sky, but we took care of them both. Sorry."

500134

>>500131
I just stare at the chest curiously

500135

>>500132
>>500134
You bend down to open the chest. The top springs out and you are nearly blinded by a bright light before a skeleton pops out!

>>500133
They both look annoyed by your answers.
"That is fine."
"Back to the party."
"Please leave your minion somewhere else."
"It might disturb our friends."
The quickly carry both of you back to the entrance of the haunted house then run through the door leading to the temple.

Dreamkicker finally wakes up.

>>500143
You find Bessy and Pomelo poking a very embarrassed Dreamkicker.

500145

>>500144
I wipe the sweat from my brow.

"W-what new devilry was that?"

500146

>>500135
Put the skeleton back neatly.

500147

>>500144
>>500145
I look at DK with immense confusion.
"Are you… okay DK? You kinda went all shrieky and then passed out at that little scare… maybe you should go back to the party? I think this haunted house might be a bit too spooky for you."
I pat him on the head.

500148

>>500145
"I think it was a toy. You know, like the ones they sell in shops for little kids…?"
I help him up

>>500147
>>500148
"It must just be fatigue. I'll be fine."

I lean on Pommy a bit.

The skeleton folds back into the chest, which launches itself back into the ceiling.

>>500146
>>500147

The Twins appear at the entrance to the haunted house.
"Hello!"
"Welcome!"
"It's Nightmare Night!"
"We heard you met some people."
"Tell us about it."
"In private."
"Now.""Now."

500152

>>500151
I jump back from their sudden appearance.
"W- Where'd you two come fro- huh? What do you mean?"

500153

>>500149
"He still has it all! I made sure not to chew any off… again… Just this place is a little too spooky for him is all."

>>500151
Wave at them
"You two sure like poofing around like that."

500154

>>500153
"Isn't that the point?"

500155

>>500151
"And where in this den of grime and sin would we fine a 'private' place?"

500156

>>500154
Squint and stare at her
"…Yes. Yes it is."

500157

>>500155
One of them slams the door shut and zaps it with their horn.
"Here."
"Now."

>>500153
"It's exhausting."
"Makes us hungry."
"More important things now."

>>500152
"Tell us ab.""Out the vampires."

500158

>>500157
"The vampires…? From the warehouse? How'd you guys find out about that?"

500159

>>500156
I squint and stare back…than boop his nose

500160

>>500158
"Happyhorn."
"He brought one here."
"As a minion."

500161

>>500160
"Oh! Uh, we went to go answer a job offer looking for people to hunt down some vampires, and when we got to the warehouse they told us to meet us at we met a bunch of vampire hunters! And then we were attacked by vampires… but we took care of them! Well, most of them I think…"

500162

>>500159
I scurry backwards while rubbing my nose
"Watch what you're touchin' me with!"

>>500157
"Well they're weird, they finish each others sentences, and blink around like crazy. Oh hey."

500163

>>500161
"More importantly, they flew into the temple ruins nearby. That's why we came here to speak to you. I suspect that the vampires are connected to the evil spirit that attacked this city almost a thousand years ago."

500164

>>500162
I snigger.

>>500161
"Oh yeah…most of the hunters didn't make it though."

500165

>>500161
"Where were the warehouses?"
"Did the vampires follow you?"
"What did they look like?"
"Did they say anything?"
"Where did they come from?"

>>500162
"Not us."
"The ones you fought."

>>500164
"What happened to the bodies?"
"Were they bit?"

500166

>>500165
"Uh… the warehouses were can I just assume that Bessy knows and tells them? Because I honestly completely forget where it was.

"And they just looked… really scary! Great big fangs and they looked all pale and ugly! And uh, they didn't say anything to us, just attacked! And I don't think they followed us."

500167

>>500165
I shake my head.
"No…I don't think so. None of them looked like it at least."

500168

>>500166
Yes.
"That close?"
"Did you see where they ran to?"
"How ugly?"
"If they try to follow we will know."

>>500167
"Good."
"Very good."

500169

>>500165
"Ohh. Yeah they came outta nowhere. I don't think those hunter guys got bit, but I'm pretty sure their bodies are still where we left 'em."

500170

>>500168
"They attempted to retreat underground, but we prevented them from doing so. Several bat creatures attacked us from the air, however, and then retreated to the ruins."

500171

>>500168
>>500169
>>500170
"What they said!"

500172

>>500169
>>500171
"Good."
"Very good."
"Sorry for the freak out."
"Being found would be bad."
"For our friends."
"And us."
"Want to get back to the party?"

>>500170
"Ruins?"
"The middle temple?"
"Interesting."
"And bad."
"Very bad."
"Maybe."
"So how about that party you are missing?"
"It's great."

500173

>>500172
"But you're the ones who started making us miss the party to answer your questions- or was that us when we wanted to ask you something? I forget…"

500174

>>500172
I nod my head
"Yeah… but um.. we also wanted to know if you had some books on something."
I turn to Dreamkicker

500175

>>500172
"Now isn't the time for parties… twins! What do you know about those ruins?"

500176

>>500172
"Can't party if there are bad things around, children! Now tell me about the bad things! "

500177

>>500172
"Yeah, I bet…but all this is kinda downing me out."

>>500174
"They have snacks in there already."

500178

>>500177
"Not for that! I have my own snack anyway!"
Tap the side of my bag where the butt book is stored

500179

>>500178
"Whoa now. That's no snack, that's a gourmet meal. I hope you have a recipe for that."

500180

>>500173
"Sorry."
"We were worried about our friends."
"And evil vampires maybe eating them."
"We apologize."
"How rude of us."

>>500174
"Yes."
"A good amount."
"We are working on getting more."

>>500175
"They are bad."
"Things die in there."
"We want to go in there."
"Badly."
"There is a power in there."
"It looks so good."
"Too good."
"We know a trap when we see one."
"The other might not see so well."
"Probably not."
"They are very stupid."

>>500177
"Games will cheer you up."
"Or drinks."
"Or food."
"Or dancing."
"Or a snack."
Their stomachs growl.

500181

>>500180
"So you don't think this 'power' is the source of the other vampires?"

500182

>>500180
"Can we look at them?"

>>500179
I nod and try not to drool

500183

>>500181
"Yes."
"And no."
"It pulled us here."
"We are sure of that now."
"It must have pulled them here too."

500184

>>500182
"Yes."
"Go to the back area."
"Five doors down on the right."
"Don't eat them."

500185

>>500180
"Yeah, probably. C'mon, let's go see what you got."

500186

>>500183
"Well then our course of action seems very clear at this point. There are too many vampires for us to effectively fight them directly, so we need to give them incentive to leave the city. And if whatever is in that temple is what is drawing them to this place, then we need to destroy it.

"I'll need access to your library. I want to find out more about what attacked the city in the past. From there we can prepare to enter the ruins and destroy the abomination."

500187

>>500186
"You heard 'em Dreamy. Back area, five doors down to the right, only a nibble. Let's go!"

500188

>>500186
"Of course."
"We will join you after the party."
"We may even pull an all-dayer."
"Follow your friend to the library."

>>500185
"Good."
"Follow us."
They lead you back into the party room. You can see apple bobbing, face painting, dancing, pumpkin launching, spider tossing, food, drinks, contests, and all sort of other fun activities.

500189

>>500188
I go over to the spider tossing.

The two of you reach the library without incident with the partiers. Inside of the library everything is quiet. There is a pegasus dressed like a witch dusting shelves.

>>503712>>503717
Pomelo is trying to show you a dusty old book with a picture of the moon and sun on it. Opening it reveals that it is written in a secret code, which your superior mind quickly cracks. It looks like it is a journal kept by a priest who was trapped inside the Temple of the Sister after the shadow came from it.

>>503713
You join her by the pumpkin catapulting area.

>>503714
It's old, dusty, and has a picture of the sun and moon on the front It's probably bedtime stories for people that go to bed really, really late.

You snag a book from Dreamkicker's pile and start to read it. It seems like the Shadow that attacked the city was able to split parts of itself off that could possess and mutate living beings, but at the cost of becoming mortal. If there is a way to kill the shadows before they fuse with living flesh this book does not say.

>>503724
There are all sorts of juice available. All you have to do is chose one or more.

>>503725
Dreamkicker.
He writes about how he stayed safe for what he estimates were a few days inside a shrine dedicated to Celestia. When he finally gained the courage to venture out of the shrine he was nearly killed by mutated priests, priestesses, and moving shadows but was able to make it to another shrine dedicated to Celestia.

>>503726
There is a drinking contest, a pumpkin pie eating contest, a belching contest, a haunted house, and several nice looking goats.

Dreamkicker
He escaped by waiting for the monsters to leave and making a run for it while wearing robes worn by the Celestian high priests, which seemed to keep the moving shadows at bay. Every shrine dedicated to Celestia he was able to find was safe to be in; the monsters were all unable to come inside but they would wait outside for him for long periods of time before moving on. A few of the possessed ponies were even able to walk through the moving shadows as if they were portals. He writes that he came close to starving several times thanks to them. He was able to kill a few of the possessed priests, and 'kill' some of the moving shadows with magic, but he was not much of a fighter so he tried to avoid doing that if he could. The further you read into the book the worse his writing and encoding becomes worse the further in you move. Eventually he starts to swear that the breeze whispers and is insane.

'1d10'

Also I share the information with those around me. "It seems this was the journal of a priest of the ruined temple. He was trapped inside and managed to escape by hiding in Celestial shrines. The monsters and possessed priests attacked him, however, and some moved among possessed shadows…"

It doesn't say how the journal was found. The last page is a short, poorly written entry that says Luna has place a moonbeam outside the shrine he is hiding in, and that he plans to ride it to freedom.

So all we gotta do… is find this shadow and throw the sun princess at it!"

503764

>>503761
"Alright.." I nod slowly and sit down and take a deep breath. "The ones you bite, they become more like you, and they want to be near you a lot more, its like being a thrall in a way.. I'm sure its not your fault, feeding directly on them is what causes it, and its easy to fix, you just have to get blood indirectly from them."

"This journal is from a priest who was trapped inside the ruin when the shadow descended upon the city. He says that he was able to survive while hiding in Celestial shrines. Here have a roll '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

506059

>>506052
Awesome. I shall find a room or some unoccupied corner to snooze in. If Happyhorn wants, she can use me as a bed.

506061

>>506055
>>506057
>>506058
Who says sleeping with friends is a bad idea?

You all wake up refreshed. There is a note on the door.

>>506059
You find an empty bed to sleep in and wake up full of energy the nest morning. There is a note on the door.

506063

>>506034
Set some incense alight at a corner somewhere.

Try to meditate on my needed actions in the future. Shadow beasts, sunlight…?

506064

>>506063
Rolling if needed

Roll #1 6 = 6

506065

>>506061
I groggily wake up and roll off the bed/buffalo.
I'm good at reading. I read the note.

506066

>>506061
I read the note. What's it say?

506067

>>506061
"Note!"
Rush up to it and read it. '1d10'
What's it say?

Roll #1 4 = 4

506069

>>506061
Read the note.

506070

>>506063
>>506064
You've got the feeling that you should help the younger generation you travel with prepare and get supplies."

>>506065
>>506066
>>506069
>>506067
Every other word looks like it was written by a different person. It thanks you all for coming to the party, hopes you all had fun, and wishes you all good luck fighting the vampires. it is signed by the Twins.

506071

>>506069
You feel a strong urge to make sure the vampires didn't feed on your or your friends last night.

506075

>>506070
>>506071
I should probably check the priests as well, but that would be a lost cause amongst the old and new bite marks. Best I can do is check the others.
So I shall meet them, after checking myself first.

506076

>>506075
You can't find any on yourself.

506078

>>506076
Good. Time to meet up with the others.

506080

>>506078
You go out into the hallway, but have no idea what room they are in.

506081

>>506070
"Well that's thoughtful of them… even if they did sneak in here to leave it."
Open the door and peer out

506082

>>506070
"Aww, that's nice of them!"

506085

>>506082
>>506081
"Yes, they would be such a fit in Canterlot high society, wouldn't they?"

"Let's find the others. We need to prepare to go into the ruins."

506086

>>506070
Check my wealth, again. Also, can I trade in my current torch to help buy that blessed sunlight torch?

506088

>>506085
"…Does that mean we're taking 'em with us?"
I hop outside the room and try to see if anyone I know is coming

506089

>>506088
"No."

I make sure our things are packed on Bessy and ready to go.

506091

>>506088
>>506089
Well, they just walked out of their room, so there's that.
"Hey, have you two checked each other over for bite marks?"

506092

>>506091
"Huh? Bite marks? Why would we do that? I didn't let them bite me and I don't think Pommy or DK did either!"

506093

>>506092
"Just being cautious. There was a lot of alcohol flowing at that party."

506094

>>506091
"I have a very sensitive coat, and I think I would notice if I were bitten. And I'm sure Pomelo wasn't."

506096

>>506091
>>506094
I look myself all over '1d10'
"I didn't feel anything!"

>>506089
You load Bessy up like the lovable beast of burden she is. It's like having an older, bigger sister, except you get to boss her around instead.

>>506096
You are perfectly fine.

506104

>>506099
"Where's the croan? We need to get moving to the sun temple."

506105

Yell to the whole party.

"I'M GOING OUT TO TOWN TO DO SOME SUPPLY SHOPPING! ANYONE WANT ANYTHING?"

506107

>>506099
>anything being older than dreamkicker

"Nope! Not a bite on me!"

506109

Do I have any bite marks on me?
'1d10'

>>506104
"Shouldn't we go get supplies first?"

Roll #1 5 = 5

506111

>>506109
Just a mosquito bite you got a few days ago.

506113

>>506107
"Good."
>>506105
"I'll go with you. No sense wandering alone at this point."

506114

>>506105
"You don't need to shout, we're all here and not deaf, yet."

>>506109
"Sensible enough."

506116

>>506111
I surreptitiously check myself for bitemarks, too.
'1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

506117

"Thank you, young man."

>>506114
WELL? I'M OFFERING TO HELP YOU BUY SUPPLIES! WHAT DO YOU WANT? OH, AND YOU'RE GOING TO BE GIVING ME MONEY TO PAY FOR YOUR THINGS!

506121

>>506117
"I THINK WE'RE GOING WITH YOU SO YOU DON'T GET LOST"

506122

>>506116
Nope, you're fi-you find a sore spot. When you pull your hoof away there are two red spots.

506124

>>506122
I try not to panic and check closer
'1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

506132

>>506124
You keep calm and check again. You can't feel holes, but your neck is sore in two closetogether spots.

506133

>>506121
>>506117
"ANYONE ELSE? IF NOT, I'M GOING NOW!"

506139

>>506121
>>506133
"WHY ARE WE SHOUTING NOW?"

506141

>>506133
>>506139
"SHE STARTED IT!"

506142

>>506133
>>506139
When everyone's ready I'm going to go to that blessed goods shop and trade in my torch and needed cash for that sunlight torch.

506143

506144

>>506133
>>506139
>>506141
"Not to put too fine a point on it, but you might wake the Twins."
I'll snort.
"Where's Andelia, anyway?"

506149

>>506144
"She really likes the twins so she's probably hanging out with them."

506150

>>506143
Dreamkicker
You watch the Twins, apparently drunk, sneak into your room and tack the note to the door. They look at the three of you asleep and you see one whisper to the other. They laugh and leave the room. A few minutes later they return with a screwdriver and a thin paintbrush with red paint. One pokes you twice in the neck with the screwdriver and the other leaves two red dabs of color where you were poked. Giggling, they leave the room with their things.

>>506144
She's with you all, but too tired to say anything. Same as Hornbeard, really.

506153

>>506150
>>506149
Eh.
I'll go accompany Olga on her shopping trip, then.

506155

>>506142
These damned kids keep talking about nonsense.

506156

>>506150
"Oh, never mind."
Wave hi to Andy

>>506153
Follow along

506157

>>506150
Grrrr.

"I'll rub garlic in their eyes while they're sleeping and see how they like it, the plebeians"

Grab Pommy and Bessy and follow Olga.

506158

>>506142
Well let's go shopping then!
Should we stop by the joke shop?

506160

>>506155
>>506158
"No, you dense girl! We're going to get supplies to ward off shadow demons!"

"LET'S GO NOW!"

506161

>>506160
>>506158
>>506157
>>506153
Everyone ready to go to the Merchant District?

506162

>>506158
Naaah

>>506160
"OKAY"

506163

506164

>>506160
"I'm not dense…"

>>506161
YES.

506166

>>506161
Mmhm mmhm

>>506160
"Please stop making a scene, old goat."

506167

>>506162
>>506163
>>506164
>>506166
The lot of you leave the temple, a few priests and priestesses waving goodbye, and make your way to the shopping area of town. Here there are armorers, weapon smiths, mages, enchanters, alchemists, and more.

506170

>>506167
How much money do I have after we got whatever we did from the dead vampire hunters?

506174

>>506167
Hmm. My armor's enchanted, my shield's enchanted… What else could I get? It's not like I can stick a bunch of stakes on my shield to plow through vamps with…

506176

>>506170
You never got anything from the vampire hunters. They died and none of you bothered to look for where they kept their money.

>>506174
Maybe you could ask Olga? She sounds like she has been here before.

506177

>>506176
Probably. It can't be too expensive to get my shield blessed…

506178

>>506167
Hmm… What exactly can an alchemist give me?

506180

>>506176
Any sort of magic shop around?

506185

>>506167
>>506180
"I am going to look for blessed goods. We will need the sun's power to fend off shadow demons. I am certain we will run into them if we stay here."

Walk there myself if no one is following me

506187

>>506185
"Oooh… I get what you mean! I'll come with you!"

506188

>>506185
I'll follow along.
"How much do you suppose a blessing costs?"

506189

>>506187
Hop alongside her
"Right! I still think we need to find a princess to throw but this'll work for now."

506190

>>506177
Probably, but there was talk of visiting the Sun temple to get help. Their blessing might be the most useful.

>>506178
All sorts of potions. Maybe Bessy knows more about potions?

>>506180
Alchemists, Enchanters, Mages' shops, and more.

>>506185
>>506187
>>506188
>>506189
All of you follow Olga to a shop and go inside. It's full of all sorts of gear that reminds you of the vampire hunters. The person behind the counter looks up.
"Oh, miss! Hello again. I've still got some sun torches if you want."

506191

>>506190
Let's go to a Mage's shop and talk to a shopkeep.

506192

>>506190
"Can you make my cannon shoot sunlight?"
I hop over to the counter.

506193

>>506190
"Yes, yes. Circumstances have changed. I need a sun torch and no longer need the one you sold me before. If I traded this in, how much more would I need to pay for one of those sun torches?"

506194

>>506190
I'll stall any questions until the others have finished. Don't want to overwhelm the clerk.

506196

>>506191
You find a hot pink unicorn mare behind the counter.
"Hello, sir. Looking for scrolls or wands? We have all sorts of spell to chose from."

>>506192
"Er, no mam. The priests at the Sun temple can do that for you for, at least if you donate to their church."

>>506193
"I can take a quarter off the price of a sun torch for that torch."

506200

>>506196
"I'm looking for something to improve my spellcasting. Something to better focus my magical energies."

506201

>>506196
"Oh. Alright then!"
I hop over to the Sun Temple.

506204

>>506200
"Mmm, that would be the enchanter's shop you are looking for. There is one right across the street."

>>506201
That's quite the journey. Is there nothing you want to buy first?

506205

>>506204
Follow Dreamkicker to the enchanter's shop

506206

>>506204
I go there, then.

506207

>>506204
Oh.
Uh…
I go to the weaponsmith?

506210

>>506205
>>506206
The two of you go to the enchanter's shop. A beige unicorn stallion greets you both.
"Hello! What can I enchant for the two of you?"

>>506207
You walk into a store with racks full of all types of weapons. A gryphon greets you.
"Hi. Welcome to Swoop's Shivs. What can I get for you?"

506213

>>506210
"Can you do anything to upgrade this?"
I gesture up to my cannon.

506214

>>506196
"Well, fine."

Take his offer.

506218

>>506210
"I need something to better focus my magic. Perhaps you have something? Or, if not, maybe you could enchant one of my spellbooks or…"

I search through my saddlebags for that ring we found in the mansion.

"…this ring?"

506219

>>506210
>>506218
"Same! I need that too. Maybe you could enchant uh…"
I point to my sombrero-like inquisitor's hat
"This!"

506221

>>506213
"Upgrade a party cannon? Hmm. I can make it shoot cutlery, is that good?"

>>506214
"Done deal. This torch will last for {20 turns}. It can be turned on and off by pressing the activation rune."
You now have 1.5 cash levels.

>>506218
>>506219
"I can do the those, yes. Do you want a general enhancement or a specific one?"
General is +1 to all spells for 2 cash levels. Specific effects only one type of spell and is +2 for the same price.

506225

>>506221
"Cutlery? What good's that do me?"

506227

>>506221
Alright.

Let's folow the rest of the party to the other shops. Can't think of anything.

506228

>>506225
"A spoon or fork, traveling at a certain speed, isn't much different than an arrow."

>>506227
You see signs for preblessed water, wooden stakes, biteproof collars, and item enchantments.

506229

>>506221
"I need it to help me channel lightning better."
So +2 to Storm bolt?

Plunk down the tail ring and my money.

506230

>>506228
Do I still have the silverware from that cave?

506232

>>506221
"General! I always wanted to be kinda decent at everything!"
Give him two cash levels

506235

>>506221
"Pardon me, but I was wondering if I could get my shield blessed against vampires."

506239

>>506229
Sure.
"Deal."
He zaps the ring with a bolt of magic.
"Alright. One tail ring of the storm, all finished."

>>506230
No, but you don't have the party supplies the cannon fires either.

>>506232
He takes the hat off your head and zaps it.
"Done. One hat of magic."

>>506235
"Blessed against vampires? The people at the sun temple would be your best choice for that."

506240

>>506239
I was at the sun temple, with Olga. Unless the sun torches she's getting are from the enchanter.

506241

>>506239
Put it on and, once Pommy is done, go find the rest of the party.

506242

>>506239
Oh. Alright then. So will this allow me to do damage towards the vampires with the cannon?

506246

>>506239
"Thanks!"
Put it on and feel the above average-ness flow through me. Then go find Bessy

506248

>>506242
If you are focusing only on the vampires have it shoot wooden splinters instead.

>>506240
She got it from a Hunter's shop.

>>506241
You feel an electric tingle run through your ass to the rest of your body as you put the ring on, then feel the power reinforce part of your magical arsenal. You find Bessy in a weapon shop and Olga wandering the streets.

>>506246
You feel better than the average goat as you find Bessy in an armor shop.

506249

>>506228
I can't afford an enchantment anymore.
Look for the blessed water.

506251

>>506248
That might be a better idea.
"How much would it cost to get it to shoot… splinters! Nobody hates anything more than splinters, right?"

506252

>>506248
Ah. Then I guess I'm going to head to the Sun Temple.
>>506249
"Will you be alright here, or should I wait until you've finished before heading to the sun temple?"

506253

>>506252
"I;ll be fine! Just going to get one more thing and I'll be heading off too."

506255

>>506251
Hop on her back
"What about frogs? Those are worse."

506258

>>506249
You find blessed water selling in vials selling for {1 cash level}. Each vial can be used five times to give a melee weapon a +1 against vampires, so long as they are attacked the next turn. The entire vial can be thrown at a vampire to do catastrophic damage, but will use the entire thing up hit or miss.

>>506251
"Hmm, only splinters? {1 cash level}, but it won't kill vampires right away, if that's what you are thinking. It'll hurt like heck though."

>>506252
You want to wait for Olga?

506261

>>506253
>>506258
I'll wait, since she's only getting one more thing.

506262

>>506255
"Frogs are cute! Nobody hates frogs Pommy."

>>506258
"Oh. What will kill vampires right away then?"

506263

>>506255
"And that's why you're no longer allowed in the academy's frog laboratory."

506264

>>506262
"Stakes, but hitting a moving vampire with a bigass stake fired from a cannon is nearly impossible. Easier to incapacitate it and do it by claw."

506265

>>506263
>>506262
I give them both a sour face

506266

>>506264
"Splinters it is then!"
I hand over [1 cash level].

506267

>>506258
Alright, just take the blessed water.

506273

>>506267
You buy one vial.
0.5 cash levels.

>>506266
He throws a pinecone covered with peanut butter and birdseed into the barrel of the cannon. You hear a pink sounds pony shout something like "Omnygosh!" and chance after it.
"There you go."
1 cash level

>>506265
1 cash level.

506276

>>506273
"Thanks!"
I turn back to DK and Pommy.
"So where to now?"

506277

>>506276
"Well I got a little bit of money left. If we don't need nothin else maybe we can stop by that temple and see what they can do for us?"

506278

>>506277
"Sounds good to me!"
On we go?

506283

>>506278
Ready when everyone else is!

506284

>>506283
Ready.

506287

>>506283
All clear.

506292

>>506287
To the Sun Temple, then.

506293

>>506276
>>506277
>>506278
>>506267
All of you depart the Merchant District and make way to the Temple Disctrict. In the center you fin the Sun temple and the Moon temple, and between them the fenced off and ruined Temple of the Sisters.

506294

>>506293
Time to go get a blessing. If I can even make it through the front door of the Sun temple.

506296

>>506293
Right, to the Sun temple.

506299

>>506293
Into the Sun Temple!

The inside of the sun temple is almost painfully bright at this time of day. An osterich greets you all at the door.
"Hello. Are you all here to worship or make an offering?"

506304

>>506301
"We're here to talk about helping you, and you helping us."

506306

>>506301
"I am in search of a blessing to defend against Vampires. And to harm them in turn."

506309

>>506301
"Heya, do you have your sun princess around here?"

506310

>>506301
"I wanna make my cannon shoot sunlight!"

506311

>>506304
"If you mean you want protection money you can suck suck on vampire fangs."

>>506306
"That is doable, but will take a monetary donation."

>>506309
The ostrich scowls.
"We do not worship Celestia. Not after what her sister did."

506313

>>506311
"I had assumed so. How much is a traditional offering for such a blessing?"

506314

>>506310
The ostrich looks at it.
"It is blessed by Pinkie. It's blessing cannot change to that of the Sun. Another one of your weapons should be doable."

>>506313
"I am only an initiate. You would need to talk with a high brother about that."

506317

>>506314
"Are there any free to speak?"

506318

>>506311
"Protec- Do I look like some sort of gangster? I'm a stallion of the arcane arts!"

506321

>>506317
"Yes. Go to the second floor and look for the door with four suns."

>>506318
"My apologies."

506322

>>506321
"Thank you."
Up we go.

506323

>>506321
"Apology accepted. I need to speak to the high priestess."

506324

>>506314
>>506321
"Let's not waste time."

Go to where he said

506325

>>506314
"Oh… does my sling work then?"

506332

>>506322
>>506323
>>506324
The three of you go up the stairs and quickly find the door mentioned by the bird. It is open. Inside is a pegasus writing something down on a scroll.
"Hello? How can I help you?"

>>506325
"I see no reason why it wouldn't."

506333

>>506325
"Pssst. Do you need this?"
Hand her my cash

506336

>>506332
"I was hoping to obtain a blessing that would defend against and harm those of the vampiric persuasion, and was hoping to learn the donation expected for such a blessing."

506337

>>506332
"Hello. We are a group of Equestrian adventurers here to investigate the vampire presence in your city. We have reason to believe that it is related to the evil residing in the ruined temple nearby. We also have reason to believe that your temple could help us in fending off that evil. So we are here to ask for your aid."

Rolling to be polite
'1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

506339

>>506332
"Alright then! Can you bless it?"

>>506333
"It shouldn't be that expensive! It's just a donation after all."

506341

>>506333
Noted.

>>506336
"Mmm. Well, we cannot bless just anyone. Too often people think they are invincible thanks to us and disappear. Why do you want to kill vampires?"

>>506337
You are the politest. The pony leans forwards.
"You think the vampires are connected to the cursed Temple of the Sisters? What do you need our help with, I am listening."

>>506339
The ostrich shakes his head.
"No. Follow your friends. The pony they are looking for can help you."

506343

>>506341
"They have killed associates of ours, and have attacked us personally on multiple occasions."
I'll clear my throat.
"And we're planning an expedition into the Ruined Temple of the Sisters."

"Well, I believe that the evil inside is harmed by the power of Celestia – that is, the light of the sun. As such, any blessings you can provide would be of aid, but particularly helpful would be a source of that divine light – perhaps a magical lantern blessed properly or the like."

506345

>>506341
"Okay!"
Off I go then.

506347

>>506344
"So we're throwing the lamp?"

506348

>>506343
"Those are good re-"
His jaw drops.
"You are what!? Why!?"

>>506344
"It-it is, yes. I can give you one of those, but I need to know everything you do. I will not ave a precious artifact wantonly lost to the Shadow."

>>506345
You go up the stairs and follow the sound of your friends' voices. They are in a room talking with a pegasus.

506349

>>506348
"Hi there! Can you bless my sling so it can throw balls of sunlight?"

506350

>>506348
"Because we have come to believe that the source of the surge of vampire attacks lies within."

506351

>>506347
"No, we won't be throwing the lamp at it."

>>506348
"To put it bluntly, we don't know what is inside the temple beyond the barest essentials. But I think once we encounter the shadow, if we simply shine the light on it we can harm or weaken it."

506352

>>506351
"Simply put, vampires we have encountered have demonstrated a strong draw to the temple. That is why we believe they are connected."

506353

>>506349
"One moment, mam, I am in a meeting."

>>506350
"What makes you sure? We are certain that nothing can survive in it."

>>506351
He shakes his head.
"Weakening it will be the most you can do with such magic. There may be a way to snuff it out completely, or strengthen the bonds that hold it, but those ways would only be found in the forsaken district, if they exist at all."

He taps his hoof on his chin.
"Donate what you can. I will help you all with the blessings and a sacred lamp."

506354

>>506353
"We've been inside the forsaken district before, but haven't gone far into it. Do you know of someplace there where we might learn more about the shadow?"

506357

>>506353
"The last group of vampires that attacked us, and murdered a group of vampire hunters, fled into those ruins. They would not have run there unless they were certain they would survive it."
I'll nod at the last bit.
"And the donations go…?"

506358

>>506354
>We've been inside the forsaken district before
No, you haven't.
"You can earn more about the shadow from the Inquisition, if they let you into their library."

>>506357
He nods his head.
"They go where they are needed. Mostly maintained roofs and windows so vampires can't invite themselves into houses."

506359

>>506358
"I meant where do we put them?"

506360

>>506358
>No, you haven't.
Wasn't that where the mansion was?

"Yes, I thought as much. We'll head to the Inquisition when we're done here."

506361

>>506359
"Oh. Just give them to me."

>>506360
Nope, the Residential District.
"Good luck with them."

The party is in the Temple of the Sun after a shopping trip in the Merchant's District to buy weapons, armor, and equipment. Brutus just had his shield blessed and Bessy had her slingshot blessed. She then threw it at a pony on the ground floor of the temple for no good reason.

It is currently the morning.

Well, I doubt the inquisitors would want to dive into their impending doom so shortly after doing so once before.

"Not especially, but they are likely to know more."

The party leaves the Temple district and makes their way through the city. Eventually all of you reach the Inquisitor's mansion in a very sparsely populated and open part of the city. At the gate are two ponies with spears.

"Halt! What business do you have here?"

507714

507730

After a minute all of you reach the front door of the mansion. The atmosphere is much less oppressive, and the building looks much nicer now, although that is not saying much. The guards a the repaired front doors open them and wave you all through.

"We were expecting you to return eventually. Need more work?"

>>507741
You head to the right and poke your head into the old, bloody barracks.
Your head starts pounding. Blood drips upwards from the floor to the ceiling. There is a gory, twisted pile of ponies and wooden bedframes in one corner of the room. A pony whose neck has been twisted all the way around quite a few times screams at you, despite having an empty, dark hole where his face should be.

>>507742
You skip off into a room. Inside it is the inquisitor mare you met outside the Temple of the Sisters after the near massacre while meeting with the vampire hunters. She scowls at you.
"What are you doing here?

They split apart. You were replaying to something said to Pomelo while he was alone.
You walk into the waiting room just as Dreamkicker and Andelia leave. Inside Bessy is trying to scream around a hoof in her mouth, which belongs to the buffalo inquisitor. Happyhorn is there too.

You find a book titled Nightmare Moon's Shadowy Pleasure Dungeon. BANNED FOR HERESY has been stamped across the front in large red letters.

>>507792
Using your past-sight magic you are able to a get a quick, but incomplete look at the page it came from. You would need to find the book itself if you want to know more.
In her temple, three seals bind her. Scattered close, not far, inside her home. Brought together only when an end to it is found.

The wall itself is very thick, and very tall. Inside are layers upon layers of enchanted materials, spellbound crystals, runes, and even the bodies of those that died fighting the Shadow and its minions. All of these are dedicated to keeping everything inside the Forsaken district in, and everything outside the Forsaken district out. Over the Forsaken district a large, magically charged storm cloud acts as a lid. It is constantly attended by scores of pegasus and gryphon guards. You find a mention of several attempt to breach the wall.

There is precedent for such an occurrence, as other evils like the so-called 'Tainted Moonbeam' did not appear until after the Shadow did.

"The Priest of the Sun Temple suggested that something to seal the Shadow away might be hidden in the Forsaken District. Do you know more?"

507836

>>507832

507859

>>507856
He.

>>507858
"Thank you for understanding."

507860

>>507859
"Thank you for access to the library. It was just a shame I couldn't find a map to the old temple. That would have likely saved us a lot of time. I don't really want to be in there past sundown."

507861

>>507859
"How are they being bound?"

507862

>>507847
"We're not planning on breaching the wall. We think we need to strengthen it and whatever is holding the Shadow within the ruined temple. Do you know more on how to do that?"

507863

>>507860
"That was torn apart during the fight to reclaim this place, I am afraid to say."

>>507861
"The undying are not bound. They have attempted to breach the wall a few times, but are always fought back."

>>507862
He shakes his head.
"The wall is as strong as it can get. The seals you mentioned are seals you would use to stamp wax on an envelope, not seals that bind. They are meant to free the Shadow, in the event that a way to destroy it or rebind it in a better way is found."

507864

>>507863
"Were I more paranoid, I'd say that might have been one of the goals."

507865

>>507863
"Have you considered that it may be time to rebind the Shadow? It should be clear that the bindings have weakened."

507866

>>507864
"It is quite possible. It is rumored that there is a way to access the Forsaken District under the Temple of the Sisters. This is impossible to verify, of course."

>>507865
He nods.
"Yes, but we do not have the numbers or materials for that. It is always possible that there are materials left behind inside the Forsaken district, but counting on that alone would not be wise."

507867

>>507866
"Not without a heavily armed and blessed expedition, anyway. But if we find such an access, we should seal it. Or at least notify a guard, or you."

507868

>>507866
"I don't see what other options you have. The vampires are not going away, and they have made living in the city almost impossible. Locking the spirit away is the most reasonable solution to the problem, given that you do not have the manpower to eradicate every vampire in the city."

507869

>>507857
"It was a dumb book that she didn't even need to have. Now ssssh they're talking!"

507870

>>507866
"I see.. is there nothing else you can tell us?"
Frown and stare at him, is he lying? '1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

507871

>>507867
He nods.
"Although not as big as would have been required earlier. The vampires won't have the element of surprise anymore, and it won't be random treasure hunters going in."

>>507868
He ruffles his feathers.
"I did not say we would never do it. I said we would do it when we have enough people and materials. Until then we will continue to contain the vampire problem."

>>507870
He's telling the truth, but you can tell there is stuff that he knows that he isn't sharing.
"The undying can be killed, but they will stand up after a few minutes and hunt you. They are stupid creatures, but they don't give up and there are lots of them."

PAUSED

509962

The party is in the mansion that belong to the inquisitors. They have done a bit of looking through the library for clues and found, among other things, a scrap of map. They are now in the head inquisitor's office talking to him.

510158

Unpaused.

510159

>>507871
"How many is lots?"

510162

>>507871
"So when are we going to settle this problem of foul creatures? If you wait until you have 'enough', it won't be long till you have nothing but people feasted upon for blood!"

510164

>>507871
Lean in closer with a soft stare. "We really need to know what's back there, we're trying to help you, so that your city isn't overrun by monsters, please if you know more.. tell us."

510165

>>507871
"It isn't really killin' them if they get back up right after…"

510166

510167

>>507871
"How long do you think you can contain the vampire problem? Eventually you will be forced to attack the source of the problem, and that, in all likelihood, lies within the ruins of that temple. The magic holding the shadow needs to be strengthened, or else you'll be overwhelmed."

>>510164
"Yes, any knowledge you have would be appreciated."

510169

>>510159
"Several hundred, but the chances are they are spread around. The Forsaken District takes up a quarter of the city."

>>510162
"You can all try whenever you want. After what happened in the basement we aren't doing anything until we have an overwhelming force."

>>510164
The gryphon leans closer.
"It's been sealed for as long as Luna has been missing. Records vanish and decay. All I know is that it is dark, most likely in disrepair, and full of undead that will stand back up after a few minutes unless they get torn to shreds or burnt to a crisp. No one living has been in there and come back since the storm cloud was first made over it shortly after the last stone was laid in the wall."

>>510165
>>510166
He waves a claw.
"You know what I mean."

>>510167
"We can contain it until we have overwhelming numbers."

510171

>>510169
"So what do you propose to do? Sit back and wait till we have no hope of ever beating them, then we try and proceed to feed them even more?"

510172

>>510169
"So what you're basically saying is you aren't gonna do anything at all."
I frown.

510173

>>510171
>>510172
"You can try going in by yourselves. You all had great luck with the monster in the basement, somehow stopped the necromancers in the graveyard even after they executed their vile plan, and managed to survive a vampire ambush. If you luck holds I think you should all be able to destroy the vampire problem, but I will not risk a single life under my command to luck."

510174

>>510169
Nod and give him a kind smile. "Thank you."

510175

>>510173
I frown
"Well then how long until you get your overwhelming numbers?"

510176

>>510174
>>510175
"We're going to need some definitive proof that we need to act as soon as possible."

"…do we have any?"

510177

>>510173
"Fine. Do you know anything else about binding the Shadow? Or do you have any idea of who might know? I'm afraid my specialty is divination, not abjuration."

510179

>>510175
"Only a month. We can keep the casualties caused by vampires acceptable until then."

>>510174
"You're welcome."

>>510176
"Proof of what?"

>>510177
"The only way I know is to give it a host body. You can blast the shadows by themselves with magic, but that is slow and dangerous. By this time whatever shadows are left in the temple could have fused with the stones themselves, and you can destroy them without having to drive criminals ahead of you."

510180

>>510179
"Do you know of anyone at all who could help us?"

510181

>>510179
quietly listen to the others questions.

510182

>>510179
"A host body?"

510183

>>510180
"Have you checked the temples for any holy warriors eager to die for their gods? They are always a good, free source of extra muscle."

>>510182
He nods.
"The fragments of the Shadow, in most recorded cases, have to posses living or once-living beings to wreak the most havoc. Once they have possessed a body they bind to it and become mortal, however."

510185

>>510183
"And then we kill the host body? Rather… gruesome, don't you think?"

510186

>>510179
"To prove that this is a matter we cannot wait out!"

>>510183
>>510185
"Once living beings are easy for me to procure."

510188

>>510186
"…Do ya really wanna wait here a month?"

510189

>>510181
"Oh, heya Andy! I didn't see ya pop up! Where were ya?"

>>510183
>>510185
I shift, unsettled by the course of the conversation.

510190

>>510188
"I don't…especially with those things out there."

510192

>>510188
"We can't. That's what I've been saying."

510193

>>510189
"I was here, doing research with Dreamkicker."

510194

>>510185
"No, then you destroy the host body. Most of the blood and guts dry out pretty fast once the body is possessed, so it's not too gruesome."

>>510186
"The city won't fall into chaos or become a massive den of vampires, no. It can be waited on. Sending zombies of your own in ahead of you would be a good idea, but the vampires could pick them off before they could find shadows."

510195

>>510194
"Hm. I suppose our next course of action should be to talk to more of the temples."

510196

>>510195
"You think they know about this?"

510197

>>510196
"Maybe, but if nothing else they may be more willing to help. The Sun Temple was, after all."

510199

>>510196
"Of course the temples know about the vampires. Everyone does."

510201

>>510199

510202

>>510194

510205

>>510204
"How about the Sun one?"

510206

"I would think that the Pink Temple is the most likely to help us."

>>510205
"We just went there, remember?"

510207

>>510201
"Don't be ridiculous. They help in their own ways, but hunting parties all end up dead or worse sooner or later and no sane zealot wants to risk his soul over and over again like that."

>>510202
"Yes, but not before our reinforcements get here."

>>510203

510238

>>510228
"Armor, weapons, and items. I would be prepared to loan out a few things to help warriors, mages, and necromancers."

>>510229
"I believe they are dealing with a hairier problem, don't you?"

>>510231
He looks at it.
"That one shouldn't."

510239

>>510238
"They have many members, perhaps they would have someone free."
Look at him curiously, that wasn't threatening was it?

510240

>>510238
"Shouldn't create shadows? No, I expect not."

510241

>>510239
Nope, but his choice of words may have been strange.

>>510240
"No. It's been blessed by the sun. All it should make is light."

>>510234
"Sounds like a plan. Asking more should get you more help, but be careful to not collect paladins from warring gods."

510243

>>510241
"Whoo, this should be fun."

510244

>>510241
"Huh? Warring gods? Who's warring?"

510245

>>510241
"Alright. So we'll see what ya got to use and then be on our way."

510247

>>510243
"This is why I leave dealing with zealots to Lorik."

>>510244
"Warring may have been a bad word to choose. What I mean is try not to bring in followers of conflicting gods or ideas; a paladin of Creation and a paladin of Destruction, for example."

>>510245
"Blossom can take you to the armory when you have all finished asking me questions."

510248

>>510241
>>510243
>>510244
>>510245
We should all leave now, then.

510250

>>510247
"Well let's see this armory, then."

510251

>>510250
I bounce in agreement.

510252

>>510247
"We should move on. A quick stop the the armoury and let's head out."

510253

>>510250
"Alright."

510254

>>510250
"I'm happy with my cannon! I dunno about you guys though."

510255

I was totally paying attention the entire time. Honest.

510256

>>510250
>>510251
>>510252
>>510253
He tells you all to go see Blossom and tell you what room to find her in. After that he wishes you all farewell. After finding her Blossom leads you, grumbling all the way, down into a room in the first level of the basement. She pulls a red broach, a candelabra, a withered paw, a suit of chain mail fit for a pony, and a glowing sword off the walls and sets them on a table.
"Alright. I think i can trust you all with the following items: The Magma Broach, the Soul's Candelabra, the Cured Paw, the Immovable Chain Mail, and the Rayblade."

>>510256
"Sooul's Candelabra?"

It used to belong to a diamond dog. It looks like something a necromancer would make. It has three fingers, the rest are missing.

>>510259
>>510259
It looks magical. It doesn't take a pony with your level of intelligence to guess that it has something to do with fire.

>>510260
"It shoots rays of magic."
Enchanted with Magic Bolt.

510262

>>510256
I also look at the broach. Does it remind me of the horn in any way?

Roll #1 4 = 4

510263

>>510261
"I see…"

Stow it with me.

510264

>>510261
Pass the paw toward Olga. "What about the other three?"

510265

>>510261
Oooh. Looks sharp and highly dangerous. We'll take it."

510266

>>510261
"Not that I plan on using it, since my own armor is sufficient, but for completeness's sake, what properties does the Immovable Chain Mail possess?"

510267

>>510264
"Would you like to hold onto the candle?"

Take the paw.

510268

>>510262
Sort of.

>>510263
You take the Soul's Candelabra. It is not lit.

>>510264
>>510266
"The Magma Broach lets any magic user that wears it use fire magic. The Cured Paw protects from abject failure to use resurrection magic three times. The Immovable Chain Mail makes anyone that wears it as hard to move as a buffalo.

Cured Paw: Negates three (3) critfails on Ressurect.
Immovable Chain Mail: Grants the Huge racial.

>>510265
You take the Rayblade. It glows and shimmers.

>>510267
You take the Cured Paw. The withered paw flexes its fingers.

510269

>>510261
Scan it with see-ems. '1d10+2'

"Sharp thing that shoots stuff! Who wants it?"

>>510269
+3, rather

510272

>>510270
"Oooh. Sounds fun!"

510273

>>510270
Oh, I take the magma broach, then, and put it on.

510274

>>510270
"I am more fond of my shield, personally. I'll leave it to the others."

510275

>>510269
>>510271
Your third eye opens.
It gives the wearer some sort of magical ability.

>>510273
You now are wearing the Magma Broach. It feels comfortably hot.

510276

>>510272
Toss it to her

510277

>>510267
Nod "I'll keep the candle safe until we decide who should use it, and this paw sounds like something for you."
>>510268
"Interesting.."

510278

>>510276
Catch!

510279

>>510270
"Perhaps you should take that armor? Keep your little goat legs safe out there." I smile.

510280

>>510279
I nod.
"Yeah! You gotta keep yourself up so you can us up Pommy!"

510281

>>510279
>>510280
"Ohh, that doesn't seem like a bad idea!"

>>510268
Take the chain mail

If everyone is done please state what item you have and whether or not you know what it does. I'd like to stop any confusion before it starts.

510283

>>510282
fire amulet/yes

510284

>>510282
Nothing, and I'm fine. Though if no one else takes the soul candle, I can hang onto it.

>>510282
Rayblade, yes.

510286

>>510282
Immovable Chain Mail unless gaius wants it, and yeah

510287

But I have no idea what it does.

I think this is where we will stop for the night if you all want to move on. I'm too tired to keep track of paladins recruited or what is going on in the Temple of the Sisters.

510293

>>510292
That's fine.

510294

>>510292
My head's going to kill me anyway. Thanks.

510584

When we last left the party they had just finished arming up in the basement of the inquisition's mansion.

Olga recieved a withered paw that would let her ignore three critfails while using Ressuruect, Pomelo got a suit of chain mail that gives him the buffalo racial, Happyhorn got a sword enchanted with Magic Bolt, Dreamkicker got an amulet that lets him use fire magic, and Andelia has a canelabra that will bring her back to life once if she remembers to light it.

There was some talk of recruiting paladins crazy enough to follow you all into the Temple of the Sisters.

510587

>>510584
Adjust my chain mail and look at the others
"So are we askin' for help?"

510591

>>510584
>>510587
"Yeah! Let's go ask around for some help!"

510592

>>510587
"To the temple!"

510607

"The Pink Temple might be willing to provide us with more help, but we should also ask to see what the various other temples might provide.

"I think we should ask for items and knowledge, not warriors. A smaller party is less likely to attract the attention of the shadow, I expect."

510609

>>510597
"Well… we're risking our lives here and it's not even our home…"

>>510607
I nod
"Whatever you think is best Dreamy."

510614

>>510609
"True. But would you really feel comfortable not laying out exactly what they're getting into? We have almost no idea of what we're going to run into there… Speaking of."
>>510607
"You, unicorn. I found this section of a map in one of the books. I tried to get you to look at it earlier, but you were occupied."

510617

>>510614
"Well, then, buffalo, let me see it."

510619

>>510617
I'll hoof it over.
"It might be a part of the ruined temple's floor plan."

510624

"If you say so DK…"

>>510614
I frown.
"Are you saying that we were gonna lie to them?"
I frown even deeper.
"And why didn't you try harder to show it to him earlier?!"

510625

Are you all heading to the Pinkie Pie temple?

>>510621
It shows you >>507817

510628

I make a note of it and stick the scrap in my journal.

510632

>>510622
"True, but there is a reason they haven't gone into the ruins."
>>510624
"The opposite, actually. I say we should try to explain just how bad of an idea it is before we dive in."
I'll snort.
"And the reason he didn't see it earlier is because he was busy with the others and couldn't hear me talking to him."
>>510628
"Get anything aside from what's on there?"

510634

>>510632
"Maybe."

"Perhaps. Still, if they know what they're getting into, I wouldn't turn them away if they wanted to help."

510648

>>510634
You can't, but you can see what the cover of the book looks like and see the book's title. If you return to the inquisitorial mansion you should be able to find it with a bit of help.

510649

>>510648
Make a note of that. Maybe when we're done with the temples.

510650

Sorry for taking so long. I'm trying to cook dinner.

510651

>>510632
"You said it like we weren't going to tell them in the first place!"
I continue frowning.

>>510625
Works for me.

510652

Enter! What time is it? Anyone around?

510664

510677

"We'd like to talk to the head priest again."

510687

>>510672
You bounce up and down a few times on the bouncy floor at the entrance before you get control of yourself.

>>510674
"Adventurey sorts? No, they stay at the party shrines in the Adventurer's District."

>>510676
You hop up to his office. He is sitting behind his desk.
"Yes? How can I help you?"

>>510677
"Then go right ahead. It's visiting hours right now."

510690

>>510687
Follow Pomelo up there, then.

"We're attempting to solve the city's vampire crisis, and we believe that to do so we'll need to reseal the shadow in the ruined temple. We were hoping you could lend us aid."

510692

>>510690
>>510687
"What he said!"

510693

>>510687
Huh. That's… odd. I suppose the Twins might have picked up ideas from this temple, though put their own spin on them. I can only hope there isn't a room papered with flypaper.
I guess I'll hunker down in the lobby while they're talking to the priests. It's not like I can add much here.

510702

>>510687
"Well that's kinda weird."

>>510699
"He's too big for that. More like a big fuzzy wagon."

510703

>>510699
"Not quite. I had thought I looked more like a battering ram with legs."

510706

>>510699
"Perhaps you know something about the shadow, or perhaps your temple has treasures or items that could help us. The Sun Temple was willing to provide a magical lantern to us, which I hope will help us defeat the shadow. Perhaps the Pink Temple has something similar."

510710

>>510699
>>510706
"Or people who might wanna help fight too! It's gonna be reeeeally dangerous though…"

510714

>>510699
"Any aid you can give, even if it's a prayer. Or candy."

510722

>>510702
The pony scrunches.
"Yeah. The party shrines are nothing but booze and dancing and booze and singing and booze."

>>510703
He squints.
"Yeah, I can sorta see it."

>>510706
"Well…it hates music. Unfortunately, the only items we have to give are magic instruments. Whoever plays them could act as a distraction, I suppose."

>>510706
"We know it hates music. That's a good thing, at least in this case, because I can loan you the Orb of Music. Please don't forget to return it."

>>510710
"Fight? The Shadow? Mmmm. We have one guy. He…lost someone a few nights ago. I think he's the only fighter we have who would be willing to follow you all in there."

>>510714
"I have both."
He motions to a bowl of candy on his desk.

510725

>>510722
"Orb of music? How does it work?"

510726

>>510722
"Lost someone? W- Willing?… I- I don't think we can let him come…"

510730

>>510722
"Ooooh…Oh! A bar! Those are kinda fun sometimes. They have fun songs."

510733

>>510725
"You squeeze it and it plays music for a bit."

>>510726
He shrugs.
"You would have to be the ones to ask him. If he…if he ends up getting killed fighting for something then I would rather it be with all of you then fighting by himself at night."

>>510730
The pony frowns at you.

510734

>>510733
"I'm sure Pommy could make good use of that."

510735

>>510730
"I don't think their songs are quite the right kind of 'party' songs that are endorsed by this temple, though."

510736

>>510733
"What? They are. Even if they stop making sense halfway through…"

>>510735
"Eh, maybe. But not everything can be sung to accordion music!"

510738

>>510736
"True, but not every party is fit for the ears of children."

510739

>>510733
"Thank you. We'll gladly borrow it."
I bow as I slide candy in my pouch.

510743

>>510734

He walks over to a shelf and reaches into a large hat. After a few seconds of rummaged he pulls out a vaguely pink orb.

"Just like that. Squeeze it harder to make the music last longer."

>>510752
And wait you do. The donkey admires himself in the reflection from your armor.

>>510753
"Thank you for seeing our perspective."

510760

>>510754
I'll bet he does. At least no one seems to be able to tell I'm more than just a buffalo in big armor.

PAUSED

Sorry. We can try again Monday night if that is fine with everyone.

511350

Most of the party is talking to the head of the Temple of Pinkie Pie. He has just given them an orb that plays music when squeezed and told them that the Shadow hates music, but he doesn't know any more than that that would be helpful. He has also told them there there is only one paladin of Pinkie Pie that he thinks would be wiling to follow them into the Temple of the Two Sisters.

Brutus and Happyhorn are in the lobby talking to a donkey and a pony.

511355

>>511354
"Yeah, but I already have stuff to make music with!"

511356

>>511352

"It is your call."

511357

511361

>>511356
>>511360
"I'd love to meet with him."

511362

>>511359
Yup. One is wearing a party hat with ribbons and the other is wearing a vest that says Party Coordinator on it.

>>511360
>>511361
"Like I said, it's you call. I can't keep him from going, but I won't ask him to go either. Oh, if you two want more information you might try convincing the leaders of the Sun or Moon temple to let you dig through their archives. You might find something helpful."

511363

>>511362
"We haven't been to the Moon temple yet. We should try there next."

The opposite, and yes.

>>511363

All of you hear squeaking as you descend some stone steps, and it only grows louder as you all approach a heavy wooden door. Opening it reveals the source of the noise: several armored ponies hitting each other with squeaky rubber training weapons in a large sparing ring. A diamond dog and another pony are polished actual weapons off to the side, and another pony is lying on a bed and trying to sleep. There are several banners on the wall with inspiring phrases.

They nod.
"We need to know how to defend ourselves next time there is a prank war."

Look left and then right and lean in
"Buuut maybe you can come along with us after we're done here!"

511465

>>511462
"No, I just don't think I'd be too comfortable in their temple. And you two should be focusing on your studies, anyway. We've got dangerous things we've got to do, and it would put my mind, at least, at ease to know you're safe here in the temple."
>>511463
I'll snort.
"I believe the phrase you want is 'bullheaded.' Which is for a stubborn individual, not a stupid one."

511466

>>511462
"You could say that." smile slightly at the scene with the orphans and then toward Brawny.
"Its likely he's just being silly thou."

The paladin nods his head.
"Oh."

The two orphans nod.

The interior is mostly naked stone with a bit of silver decoration here and there. A pegasus lands in front of you all.
"Hello, and welcome to the Temple off the Moon. How may I be of service?"

I might doze a little, so long as I don't get prodded by a guard. Though that might be better done at least in the temple's antechamber, so I'm no easy mark for a pickpocket.

511511

>>511510
"Uh… yes of course I was referring to those tunnels.

"We were hoping that you could provide aid of some sort. Perhaps a magical item with which we could fight the shadow. The Sun Temple provided a magical lantern, while the Pink Temple gave us a magic ball that can play music."

Well, that's a start. I might need a higher concentration of silver… but not to the overwhelming degree that's in the Lunar temple.
Put the Silver Moon back into my bag.
And back to waiting.

511517

>>511513
Bow slightly and reply "Of course, but, Which Pink One Maim? Or did you mean all of them?" Say this with a cool smile.

511518

>>511515
"We generally don't do very nice things."

511519

>>511513
"Why does he have to go?"

511520

>>511513
"That's fine. Chunk, leave the room."

511521

>>511514
The stallion stands up.
"Watch your tongue, goat!"
One of the mares gently pushes him down.
"We worship the moon. Not the pony that nearly destroyed our city."

>>511515
"But that is our requirement. He can learn himself, by himself, if he lives long enough."

>>511517
"All of them, since you have mentioned there is more than one."

>>511519
"Because secrets exist to be kept, and Laughter devotees blab."

>>511520
He grumbles and leaves.

511522

>>511521
I scrunch up.
"We can keep secrets better than anyone! A secret's just as important as a Pinkie Promise, and Pinkie Promises are NOT to be broken!"

511523

>>511521
I sigh
"Fine. I'll respect your wishes. I'm sure you'd do the same in a house of Laughter."
Follow the paladin out

511524

>>511522
"Very well. Swear on your god to keep it secret and you can stay."

>>511523
You leave.

511525

>>511521
"Gods are not flawless. It is you as the moonlit Avatar's devotees who should be most aware of her myriad natures. I mean no offence. Now, tell us how we can stop the impending shadow threat."

511526

>>511525
shift uncomfortably at Olga's speech

511527

>>511523
>>511524
I huff.
"I don't want to stay."
And I follow after Pommy and Chunk.

511528

>>511525
"Uh…"

511529

>>511525
"Annnnnnnnd you get to leave the temple now. You have five seconds to leave before we call the guards."

>>511527
>>511526
>>511528
"Excellent. Now once the old goat is gone we can begin."

511530

>>511529
"Have we mentioned that the old goat isn't associated with us? We found her outside scrounging for used cans."

511531

>>511529
Raise my head high as I leave.

511532

>>511529
>>511531
scrunch at the scene. its painful to watch.

511533

>>511531
I roll my eyes.

511534

>>511532
>>511533
"I'll be relaxing outside! Tell me when we're done with these ignorant zealots!"

511535

>>511531
The door slams behind you as you leave their room and make your way out of the temple.

>>511530
>>511532
>>511533
The stallion clears his throat once everyone has left.
"Excellent. Let's get down to brass tacks, shall we? There is a tunnel that leads from the Temple of the Two Sisters to the Temple of Luna, but it is sealed by ancient magic. The three keys to unlock it are hidden somewhere under the temple of the Temple of the Two Sisters. They are separate from the keys needed to unlock the seals binding the Shadow inside the Temple of Luna."
One of the mares starts speaking.
"We will use our key to enchant an item for you. The enchantment will last twelve hours. You will need to revisit the Sun Temple and get the same item enchanted with their key too."

511536

>>511534
Eye her as she walks out
"They sent you out too?"

511537

>>511535
"So we need a third key to unlock the tunnel?"

511538

>>511535
"An item besides the key?" I ask to clarify.

511539

>>511536
"Why, yes! Like children angry about someone providing a different view of their hero, they are. I'll bet some of them desire the night warder carnally! As if they'd truly gain her favour denying her other aspect rather than accepting it and helping her banish it."

What time of the day is it now?

511540

>>511537
"Yes. All three are, hopefully, somewhere under the Temple of the Two Sisters."

>>511538
"Right. The key stays here, but we can use it to make a copy, so to speak."

511541

>>511539
I nod like I knew most of those words
"You said it!"

511542

>>511540
"So then we can't use those tunnels to enter the temple?"

511543

>>511540
"alright, can it be any item, or does it need to be about the same shape as the keys?"

511544

>>511542
"No. You would need to get out of the tunnels and use the front doors of the Temple of Luna. However, using the tunnels will let you bypass the large wall and all the guards that contain the Forsaken District."

>>511543
"It can be any item. It's a magic key, understand?"

511545

>>511544
"I do. I just had to ask since I am not familiar with this process."
do I have something on me that would make an acceptable object, like a smooth rock or small statue? '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

511546

>>511545
Just your armor and various weapons.

511547

>>511541
"Good, you understand! Children can be quick to learn. "

So is it nighttime now?

511548

>>511546
various weapons.. I have a silver dagger, maybe that will do? Present it to her. "Would this serve well as a key?"

511549

>>511547
Nope. Afternoon.

>>511548
"That will do nicely. Give it to us and we will return it to you soon; once it is ready."

511550

>>511549
And I'm still sitting out here.

511551

>>511549
lay in down in front of them and step back with a bow. "Many thanks holy ones."

511552

>>511550
They should be done soon, sorry.

>>511551
"Excellent."

Does anyone have anymore questions or do you want to get this show on the road?

511553

>>511549
"Curses. The moon's power isn't active now. Can't show them that even we have more favour than those love-shy aspirants."

Whatever. Let's try.

"Warder of night and moon! I call out to you! Your so-called devotees deny you your duality, your other aspects! They would have you hide it in shame so they can live a selfish lie rather than working with you as your servants to cleanse you! I disagree! You are divine, but have every right to be flawed! Those who reject your half are but ignorant children! Should you agree, I request you blot out the sun for but a few moments, that shadow falls over them while I may have your moonlight! "

'1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

511554

>>511552
It's fine, really. This is what I get for sticking with a curse, instead of getting rid of it. It is the future I chose.

511555

>>511552
No, I'm good. Just gonna wait for them to give me back my dagger with their enchant on it, so that we can enchant it with the sun as well.

511556

>>511553
A pony in the Moon Temple's steeple empties a chamberpot on your head.

>>511555
Alright.

Any more questions?

511557

>>511556
Wash myself off in a nearby pond or something. I'll have to do this later at night.

511558

>>511556
"Ewwww"
scurry away from her

511559

>>511557
You wash off in a nearby fountain.

>>511555
The ponies return with your dagger.
"Here you are. Be safe, and stay away from the false moonlight."

511560

>>511558
"It is food for the grass that in turn feeds us! Don't you deal with a lot of it from that unicorn's twinbedding window too? "

511561

>>511559
Nod. "And may things return to the natural order soon."
Then I'll go out to meet the others.

511562

>>511561
"No, I'm being serious. Watch out for the false moonlight. We don't know why but that is something that was recorded several hundred years ago in reference to the Temple of the Two Sisters."

511563

>>511562
"Yes, I read about it, and I'm fairly certain it's what killed the writer of a journal I read. I believe the lantern should help protect us."

511564

>>511560
Cover my mouth and nose and shake my head 'no'

511565

>>511562
"Oh. I see."

511566

>>511563
"I hope so, but better safe than sorry."

PAUSED.

If you are uncertain about anything please ask me in the meta thread.

511567

>>511562
"Was it coming from inside the temple?"

511568

>>511567
"We are guessing it is somewhere inside it."
