You were a leader of a small tribe in the land that will probably one day be called Equestria. Unfortunately, the ancient Changeling army has been unleashed and the world is probably going to end very soon. You were rescued from certain death, but you were seperated from your tribe, and you now find yourself as a war refugee, living among a group heading East to escape the changeling army.

One day, the tribe elder noticed that you fit the description of a saviour, prophesied to save the tribe from certain destruction. Before you even had time to protest, you quickly found yourself being forced to lead this band of barbarians!

What is our civilization name?
What is the dominant species in our civilization?
What is our civilization quirk?

You lead the great nation of Quardia, with the majority of the population being made up of skeletons.

Actually, you're beginning to think the nation only consists of you, your diamond dog companion, her guards...and this one charming zebra fellow who you strongly suspect is a necromancer.

Still, all ponies, peasants or kings are equal under the law. Even if they're dead.

You find your tribe in the mountains of Eastern Equestria. Here, food is rarer, although stone will be able to obtained more easily. Mountains also offer higher rolls on defense.

Would you like to settle here?

Your civilization's happiness has increased! If there isn't anything to be sad about, people can usually feel pretty good about themselves. Or at least, skeletons can.

A month after first settling down, your diamond dog companion tells you that there's nothing out here for her, and that she should head west, to bring back news from the war against the changelings. For some reason, you get the feeling she hasn't forgiven you for invading her country and burning her capital to the ground. Some people can be so petty. She left without waiting for your permission.

Your scouts met some villagers today! It was difficult communicating, but they tell you that they come from a small citystate to the northwest. Lately, they've been terrified of gigantic creatures watching them, who apparently come from West of your civilization. They would like to ask the Pegasus civilization to the north for help...but they seem to be preoccupied with being almost on the verge of war with the Bat Pony civilization.

Your necromancer informs you that his skeletons are, in fact, people, and he is rather offended that you would pack them all into a small building like a mausoleum! Your citizens deserve houses, like everyone else! You point out that it could assist with developing new types of undead, and so he agreed to build it anyways, although he's not happy about it.

...Where do all these skeletons come from, anyways?

After a quick cocktail of flattery, reason, and some very well-timed interruptions, you manage to convince Bones that you only mean the very best for the nation of Quartia.

The mausoleum is even better than you could've imagined; it rivals palaces in its magnificence. Your skeletons feel stronger just by being around it!

Your scouts bring news back from the war in the West; and it's not good. The Diamond Dog civilization has been almost entirely destroyed, with the survivors either living on the run, or underground. The unicorns have been forced off the mainland, and now live across the great sea, where they are only safe for so long. Your own civilization of druidic earth ponies has mostly vanished; although rumor has it that your people live among the trees.

Your scouts have been exploring mostly in a circle around your civilization. You could possibly tell them to seek out either the creatures to the West, the pegasi or batponies to the North, or possibly just the poor undefended citystate to the Northwest.

Although the leader of the Diamond Dogs has no ill will towards you, believing you to be a young, naive upstart who just made a few bad decisions, the majority of the Diamond Dog civilization definitely does not hold that view. You will be unlikely to ever see any of their refugees.

One of the more talkative and intelligent skeletons, an ex-unicorn who named herself "Petunia", informed you that your civilization has researched a new way to irrigate crops, which would help in feeding... you and that other guy. You asked her why the skeletons spent so much time trying to eat food. She responded by breaking down crying. You decided not to ask again.

One of your skeleton scouts tried to hire a guide to lead him to the Batpony city, but the villager was so terrified he ran. Your scout tried to chase after the villager, insisting he stop and give him directions to the batpony city...but the poor horse collapsed and died from running for so long. As luck would have it, though, he managed to die right outside the Batpony city!

You quickly decide that maybe you should handle all diplomacy and outside relations from now on.

The great cave city of Batimore is unusual, in that the majority of it is entirely underground! It's surrounded by impenetrable black walls, supposedly built when the Moon itself created the batpony civilization. The city is known throughout the world as being one of the only places where Manastone can be found.

What do you do?

Seeing as Skeletons have no muscles, require no food, air or water, plus the fact that bones are hard to cut and most armies don't use hammers, they should make rather good scouts, likely being able to simply walk along the bottom of oceans and never tiring.

While your people already knows writing, it wouldn't hurt if your people could get a little more cultured. You commission your greatest undead artist to create a great work.

While waiting for an audience with the batpony queen, one of the ponies attending to you quickly gives a rundown on their people. You only half-listen, but you learn they have limited invisibility, dark vision, and powerful wings. That's a little scary.

It isn't long before a new mare shows up in the room. You instantly recognize her as the leader of this civilization. She certainly has that atmosphere, at least.

"I am the Queen of this people, but you may call me Blossom." She smiles, almost casually, walking around you, sizing you up. "And what would an adorable little pup like you want with my humble kingdom, hmm?"

You do your best to ensure you leave the best first impression possible on your potential new ally. She's clearly impressed, and smiles sweetly.

"'Diplomatic relationships'?" She cocks an eye, and then laughs. "I see. Well, you see, pup, we've been having problems with the pegasi as of late." She tells you of the manastone, and how her people have defended it since the dawn of time. It's one of the most precious valuables in the world; it amplifies magic, can be used to craft unmatched weaponry, and is one of the few things that can hurt spirits. And now, the pegasi have threatened invasion unless the batponies give them mining rights. You ask why she doesn't just sell them some, but she tells you that the stone is so integral to the structure of their cave that mining it would collapse their entire civilization.

"We've fought back dragons, diamond dogs, and every invader who has ever threatened our home. Will you help us, and make a Declaration of Friendship with us, pup?"

You have made a Declaration of Friendship with the batponies. Skeletons and bats working together? Spooky.

Your scouts have naturally found the small Citystate of Neighhagara. They have a council of merchants that make decisions, and although their independence is guaranteed by the pegasi, the city itself owes its alleigance to no one. You could wiin the state's favor by offering gifts, or perhaps by solving their problem with the giant creatures plaguing them. Invading citystates is frowned upon by most civilizations.

News from the West! Your old civilization does live. Unfortunately, you have very little means to communicate with each other, as there is about tens of thousands of changelings in between you and them. Supposedly, a small changeling army is heading East, towards you, but it will take a long time for it to reach you.

Your greatest artist has created a great work, and discovered Poetry! Your civilization is feeling more cultured and pompous. You now need a new research topic.

You tell your scouts to explore further West, to scout out the changeling horde.

Instead of finding changelings, however, they found an ancient, abandoned ruin, hidden deep in the forest. It seemed to be full of lost technology! As your scouts approached, however, they found a massive creature, half-buried in the ground. One of the braver skeletons tried to circle around and enter the ruins anyways...and was promptly crushed and killed. Poor Lifts-His-Tail, he will surely be remembered for his sacrifice.

You can try to approach the ruins again, but it may be wiser to launch a full-scale military assault.

You approach the city state with the intention of improving diplomatic relations, but no matter what you say, it won't change the merchants' opinions of you. Actions speak louder than words, they say. And by that, they mean they want you to either line their pockets with resources, or get rid of that gigantic creature.

As for trades, however, they export Culture and Wood, and import Stone and Arms.

well shit I'm used to you guys failing more often, I expect this

You, against basic survival instinct, decide to communicate with the creature. It says something about intruders and classified sectors and a lot of other words you don't understand, but you somehow manage to convince it that you are, in fact, an employee here. It allows you to pass, but you only. It also crushes two of your messengers, but whatever, you hated those guys anyways.

Bones points out the probable reason that it's half-buried is...probably because it hasn't moved in millenia. That probably means there's more of these things, and that idea makes you uncomfortable.

You delve deep into the ruins and...it's nothing like you've seen before in your life. Vines made of metal. The most perfectly cut tilestones you have ever seen. Stone so clear you could see through it. Your first instinct of this ruin is to assume that it's a tomb, but...it seems like it's something far more sinister.

There seems to be floating creatures, trapped in some crystals, of some sort. They all look terrifying and alien, but one creature stops you. It's...a unicorn? A pegasus? Whatever she is...she's the most beautiful pony you've seen in your life.

Something about this place makes you very, very uncomfortable.

The technology in this place is so advanced, you just can't understand any of it. You decided to open up one of the boxes kept around here, and the individual parts were so complex you wouldn't be surprised if someone told you it was an alien's blood and guts. You decide to throw some things into your bag, in the vain hope that maybe someone can figure out what half these things do.

Although there's evidence of paper once being in this place, it's entirely decayed. You can't figure out much of anything here, but the size of the doorways seems to suggest that this place was made for creatures about twice your size.

You fiddle with one of the boxes, nearby the mare. To your surprise, there is a series of loud sounds, and she is released from the crystal! You're almost positive the sounds are alarms, but there's no guards to answer to it. You decide to leave...but for some reason, you feel obligated to bring along the pega-corn.

You're surprised to find Starswirl the Bearded, waiting outside, along with your companions. He insists on carrying the mare back to your city.

"This girl is the Lunar Exalted! The avatar of the Moon Herself!" He immediately begins spouting about fulfilled prophecies, and magic jargon, with the occasional astronomical term. You try to follow along, although your zebra companion is doing a lot better than you are, evidently by the shocked look on his face. Starswirl stops, and looks at you very closely.

"The prophecies state that, with her awakening, the world is doomed to an eternal night, unless... She never awakens to her true self, and never finds out who she really is." He tells you that he can't take her, and he needs to leave her with you. He wants you to pretend that she's been in a coma for a few months. Say that you're her brother, and that she's suffering from amnesia. Pretend like alicorns are normal. Try to give her a normal life.

Well, if it's a trap, it's a very thought-out one. You came prepared, nonetheless.

You're here to speak with Ms. Pansy, the governor of this small town, Hoofington. The majority of Pegasus cities are said to be in the sky, so the fact that this specific castle town happened to be grounded is rather convenient.

Or at least, you would be speaking, if you could understand a word she said. She looks down, and mutters quietly, more intently focused on her flower garden than you.

"Could you speak to the batpony queen for me?" She speaks quietly. You almost feel obligated to agree; if she's this terrified of speaking to you, you can only imagine how much worse off she would be, talking to her enemy.

"I...We don't want to fight. But we need that stone. It could save so, so many lives." She looks a little sad, "The pegasi need it to defend their homes. The dragons, the gryphons, and now these changelings... Please, just ask her. We'll pay for it, and give them new places to live! This isn't something worth killing over!"

But apparently, it is. You've seen the mobilized pegasi armies outside. The little pegasus girl almost looks like she's going to cry.

"Please..."

Explain to the Batpony queen the Pegasus's thought. Stay neutral on the subject, wait for her reaction and if she is angered, offer a different idea of having the Zebra train some Batponies to be necromancers, build up a huge army to face off against the changelings while reviving any you kill to join your ranks and continue fighting. This plan should protect the pegasi while allowing the batponies to keep the manastone.

IDETIFY THAT TECH.

If the Dragons and Changelings are both your enemies, why not have an alliance?
