Last time, on BraeburnQuest
After leaving a rallying cry ringing in the town's ears, our heroic Deputy helped Cats fish the downed flier out of her ruined workshop and then headed off to Cherry Hill Ranch to find lodging for Braeburn. All this while letting black crystals fester on her arm... hopefully Cats will have some answers about that before Red Eye returns to ravage the town tomorrow.

Cherry Hill Ranch is a quaint little estate, bordered by dried-up trees and ditches, with a nominal picket fence separating the dust it sits on from the dust around it. Haphazard irrigation feeds the cherry orchards around it, giving it a look of importance despite sitting on the edge of Dodge Junction's formal jurisdiction—a useful location, considering its original purpose. Regardless, with how it's cleaned up under Jubilee's care, it looks more a fashionable waypoint for travelers, replete with dark mahogany, cherrywood, rich maroon and wine-tinted upholstery, carpets and drapes, and flecks of gold paint in the hoof-made inlays and banisters.

Warm as the interiors usually are, the bordello has emptied out for the day, most of the girls (your first friends and neighbors when you first settled into Dodge Junction) having left for the town center to do their part. Unfortunately, that means a lot of locked rooms, only one of which you have ready access to: yours.

Of course, Cherry Jubilee planned for Braeburn's visit, didn't she?
>>
>>13884943
Check the register.
>>
>>13884943
Sure she did.

Right?
Right?
>>
>>13885050
...What, are you expecting condoms in the bedside drawer?
>>
>>13884943
are there any keys behind the front desk?
maybe Braeburn knows something about his lodging arrangements?
>>
>>13884963
>>13885050
>>13885088
There is a key rack in the reception office, and you take the liberty of walking around the counter and letting yourself in. Of course, the girls took their keys with them. Even the orchard farmers. There's just yours and Cherry's now. And there are no extra rooms—the hostesses would, er, host overnight guests if necessary.

The reception desk and register itself is a mess of notes and ink blots. You can't seem to find any special instructions concerning Braeburn's stay. Jubilee had described Braeburn exactly, though, so...

"Pretty nice place of business here. What do they sell?" You turn to see Braeburn admiring one of the sultry paintings on the wall.
>>
>>13885261
We're a dork, but are we too much of a dork not to give it to him straight?
>>
>>13885261
>What do they sell?
Err...

we may be a dork but damn, this guy is dense!
>>
>>13885261
"Comfort."
Should...should we let him sleep in our bed...?
>>
>>13885309
Cherry's key is still left, I thought, so why would we want to do that?
>>
>>13885309
It's probably for the best if we bunk together
lord knows what would happen if he went with cherry
>>
>>13885327
No sleeping in the Supers bed.
>>
>>13885327
Should we really be using our boss' room while she's out?
>>
>>13885362
No.
No nononono.
Sacred ground beyond that door!
>>
>>13885396
Exactly.
>>
>>13885402
I bet she has one of those massive clown beds too.
Eugh...
>>
>>13885439
She probably has her BadDragon collection arranged around the room as decoration.
>>
>>13885477
>Implying she doesn't have them all set up like a massive booby trap if we try to enter.
>Just a mass of dildos in the face like the scene from Home Alone.
>>
While you're fantasizing about getting slapped in the face with a million dicks... to tell him, or not to tell him?
>>
>>13885549
it's probably better if he finds out sooner rather than later
I vote tell him
>>
>>13885549
Yeah tell him.
>>
>>13885549
spill the beans
>>
>>13885549
Tell him.
>>
>>13885596
>spill the beans
Lewd.

Whats the actual physical property of the new manners skill? Does it give a plus bonus roll in persuading?

"The clientele comes here to spend a night with one of the mares." You continue searching the office desks and drawers for any hints to... anything, anything at all to keep you from putting him up in your quarters, breaking taboo and entering Jubilee's room, or dragging Braeburn's beautiful behind to the inn in town. When you look up, he's still got that bright-eyed, uncomprehending look on his face.

You make a gesture with your hands, inserting your index finger into the open ring formed by your other hand.

"Huh? ...What are you doing?"

"What am I—you don't know what this means?" You vigorously thrust your finger in and out, holding it out in front of his to give him a look at the obscene gesture.

"Does it look like I have hands?" Braeburn holds up his bad hoof as best he can, wincing in pain.

"Oh. Right. Well, they have sex. For money." You have no idea why you're treating him like a child. "I thought you and Miss Jubilee knew each other?"

"We're just the least bit distant, Aunt Jubilee and I. Heck, some days I can't remember what I had for breakfast that morning, much less a map of everything going on in the Frontier! ...What DID I eat on the train?"

You sigh and shake your head, aimlessly rifling through the office files once more. "With everything else coming up short, I hope your gun isn't the only big thing on you."

"Say again?"

"Nothing."
>>
>>13885764
>I hope your gun isn't the only big thing on you

Pff!
>>
>>13885764
Okay, so he's as dense as a neutron star.
That aside, should we let him bunk with us if it comes down to it? I think we've established by this point that the idea of taking advantage of the situation wouldn't even cross his mind.
>>
>>13885764
Fuck it, we may as well bunk with him for the night.
The desks have been interrogated enough as it is.
>>
>>13885764
are we ever going to ask him just what the hell he's doing here in the first place? and why he came with a fake badge and a gun slapped to his back?
>>
>>13885958
actually, yeah, this. It's high time he explained about that fake badge.
>>
>>13885873
He'd probably need a map to figure it out, even if he tried.
It's safer anyway.
>>
>>13885764
>>13885958
>>13886009
Yea we should ask him about that.
>>
>>13885958
You're about to give up when you do find a letter bearing Braeburn's cutie mark, address to "Aunt Jubilee". You could keep it for yourself and read it later, or just ask Braeburn straight away.

...

In the meantime, you give up your search and grab your keys off the rack, forcing a laugh. "Ahahaha, right, always the last place you look..."

"Oh, wait, hold on, I think I got a few bits."

"What? No! You're just gonna sleep here for now. Like a charity case. We do it for lost fillies all the time, let them find a safe place, help them get on their feet..."

"FILLIES!" Braeburn jumps on his hind legs with an inappropriate cheer. "That's why I was here! I was looking for fillies. Or, well, one filly. Hey, was there ever a Darcy Spice boarded here in the past months?"

>>13886242
"Never heard of her... Except when you mentioned her earlier today. What business would you have with a filly anyways, that you need a fake badge for?"

"Huh, well... I guess we're in a rut, as it were, but you mind waitin' til we're somewhere more private 'fore I spill the beans? I was hoping to talk to Aunt Jubilee about this."
>>
>>13886301
Welp.
Time to show him to our humble abode.
>>
>>13886301
"Sure."
Show him the letter while leading him to your room.
"This letter have something to do with it?"
>>
>>13886301
More private? We're the only ones here.
>>
>>13886379
~
forgot your tilde on the end, there.
Didn't want you sounding insufficiently sultry.
>>
>>13886611
We didn't choose Hostess, remember?
>>
>>13886625
But we are alone at the ranch, right?
>>
>>13886657
We're the law!
There's no time for such things!

LAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWW
>>
Man. Cherry Girl has one hell of a dirty mind.
>>
>>13886379
"Everyone's bunkered in at the Town Hall, we're the only ones here."

"It's the principle of the thing! ...And shouldn't we be bunkering in, too?"

"Yeah, but then where will we get to have our private little conversation, huh?" You shrug and lead him up the stairs and down the hallway to your room, set in a quieter corner of the manor. It's deathly silent in the evening, with everyone cleared out. "Besides, the Ranch is in the direction where they fled, we can keep a lookout here."

"Not until those punks roll around, at least. If they have any sense of honor they'd wait til high noon."

There's an odd comfort in opening the door to your own room, and a warm familiarity to seeing your messes that you made. You wonder if he's ever seen panties before.

"Okay, so you wanna talk? I need to know who I'm sharing my room with before I—"

"What ARE these?"

"Mine." You grab them out of his hooves. He has definitely not seen panties before. "So, what's your story?"
>>
>>13886828
Ask about the letter.
>>
>>13886828
Make sure he explains about that badge. Pretty sure impersonating a cop is a crime damn near everywhere.
At least make sure he had a damn good reason.
>>
(( Ugh, I'm really sorry for the slow pace. I've been in a creative slump recently but I've been boot strapping myself this week to get back in the saddle. I can still run a second session tomorrow, but I'm just too worn out to continue tonight. ))
>>
>>13887186
No worries.
>>
>>13887186
alright, see you tomorrow!
