No.34707

Thread #3

Last time on ++Trotantium: the decline++

The party traveled to Riverwatch as instructed by the Empress and were joined by Marching Dawn of the Empress’ elite guard. When they arrived however, they found the castle to be under lockdown and seemingly deserted. As they entered the courtyard and inspected the area, they were faced by over a dozen of infected, sickened and bloated guards who attacked them without hesitation. The party has just killed the last one of them and the dust is starting to settle.

Players, report in.

As you slide the keystone into the slot, the large stone door starts moving and opens up, making a lot of noise in the process. The party walks inside and finds themselves in a huge cavern covered in moss, mushrooms and various other plants.

In the middle of the dark cavern you spot a male unicorn wearing a large brown hat and a cloak, who appears to be performing some kind of magic on what must be the water purification runestone. Next to him lies a robed zebra in a pool of blood, whom you assume to be dead.

“I have been waiting for you lot to appear here.”

The Unicorn turns to look at the group, taking note of every member as if to gauge their capabilities. He then continues to speak as he levitates the runestone in front of him.

“You are no doubt here for this, yes? To finish the job your robed friend here couldn’t.”

The chain lightning rerolls the first miss on a new target, and on a successful hit it seeks a new target; the chain lightning disappears if it misses a target twice, critical misses, or cannot find a new target. The chain lightning does not backfire, grant second attacks, and cannot attack a target it has already hit. Meta note: for play-by-post, it may be more efficient to roll multiple dice at once, using each result in sequence.

You can still choose to roll for the normal lightening spell in combat if you want. Improved spells are always more dangerous when they fail. So be warned.

I don't know who sent these assassins, but I aim to find out. And for that I'll need your help. Again."

Some blades can be made as short as in one week, but I've heard some zebras had Krises that were made for years, and even had lots of Nickel and even some Metal out of this world in them! The informant - who simply turned out to be Cross - told the party of the Hoof Irons, one of the more important gangs in the city, and their possible link to the assassination attempt on the Empress. The party set out to where the gang is supposedly hiding and killed some of the members already, just outside of the factory. Luckily, it didn't appear to draw much attention as this is daily business in the slums.
