531235

The party made it out and away from Bare Hill with a group of bandits who proved most helpful in navigating the tunnels, collapsing pursue routes and finding a safe place to set up camp for nightfall.

Cloudcover thinks returning to Canterlot would be a good course of action, so that the Mirror can be stored and the mine incident reported.

Lady Sunset insists on heading straight for her rendezvous with Calming Breeze, because the cultists have too much of a head start as is.

The bandits are patching eachother up. Perhaps they could be of some help if you feel like making deals.

531236

>>531235
"Lets go to canterlot. Rushing into danger with the relic in hoof is a bad idea."

531237

>>531235
What happened to Fern? Is she still around? Dulltooth seemed pretty interested in her.

531238

>>531235
I'm all for going to Canterlot.

531239

>>531237
She seems to be sleeping next to him
>>531236
>>531238
Lady Sunset huffs
"We have no time for that! I can always have a courier take it back for us, but every moment wasted is a moment we give to Tirek."

531240

>>531239
"I don't trust couriers."

531241

>>531239
"What if they kill the courier?"

531242

>>531240
>>531241
She looks like she's about to say something but then reconsiders her point.
"…and what if they kill us?"

531243

>>531239
"Guys? I agree with Lady Sunset. Whatever these cultists intend to achieve by bring Tirek back, it's bad, and it's happening right now. We got here right as they were performing the ceremony; if we take a detour, they'll be able to continue completely unhindered."

531244

>>531239
"And.. if the cultist kill the courier?"

531245

>>531242
Deadpan.
"We die."

531246

>>531242
"If they could kill us on the road. They could kill us when we catch up to them as well. It is much harder to kill a group than to kill one messenger at least."

531247

>>531246
"We would be rushing headlong into their open hooves, basically gifting them the heart!
It'd be as if we did all this work for them!
Moving to canterlot would be infinitely safer!"

531248

>>531244
>>531245
>>531246
"I will not join you.
Calming needs me more right now."

531249

>>531248
"Should you not die. We will meet you again."

531250

>>531248
Go towards Lady Sunset.

531251

>>531248
"Take care then."

531252

>>531248
>>531249
"Okay, wait. Dividing your forces is a perfectly valid tactic… When you're trying to bait a force you know into position. Right now, that is probably one of the worst strategies we can use."

531253

>>531252
"We aren't dividing anything."

531254

>>531249
>>531251
"Be careful who you trust with that mirror. There is no telling how far this cult of Midnight has spread."
>>531250
"You have no obligation to join us if you would rather follow the others."
>>531252
One of the bandits speaks up
"I think I can guess where you lot are headed. We might be of some help."

531255

>>531254
"That's easy, I don't trust anyone but me."

531256

>>531254
Look at the thieves.
"You know how to fight?"

531257

>>531254
Stay silent for a moment, but smile.
"Thank you, milady."

531258

>>531253
"She's going one way, we're going another. How is that not dividing?"
>>531254
"Do tell."

531259

>>531254
"And how would you help?"

531260

>>531258
"Dividing would be if we were actually splitting at least a third of our forces away."

531261

>>531256
>>531258
>>531259
"It wasn't exactly hard to guess that you are after the rest of these relics. While I don't really know a whole lot about them, I do know it was a really big deal to just about everyone involved when someone came up with and pulled off the plan to steal and sell them.
As you might have gathered, I have big ears around secrets. Let me and my pals run off, and I'll spill the beans on where the bosses are hiding the big black jewel."

531262

>>531261
"And what kind of guarantee do we have you and your buddies won't rat us out?"

531263

>>531262
"Telling our bosses we told you where they are hiding would not be good for us, for one."

531264

>>531260
"That's not how- *sigh* you know what? No. I'm not doing this right now. You want to let this turn into this year's hit horror play? Fine. I'll go grab some props."
>>531261
"You still owe us for getting you out of there, you know. We could have just left you in those pens."

531265

>>531261
"Or we beat it out of you. We saved your asses once, we can whoop it too."

531266

>>531261
Look thoughtful.
"And what if they've moved it by the we get there?"

531267

>>531264
"We don't have time to argue about this. She wants to go one way, we want to go the other. We have no reason to hold her."

531268

>>531263
"I see."

531269

>>531265
>>531264
"I figured as much. I suppose we can also turn this into a fight to the death which ensures you will certainly be too late."
>>531266
"They won't move it before the buyers get there. Those were explicit orders, at least to us. Turns out cultists don't like it when you change plans on short notice."

531270

>>531269
"You will die either way. We can kill you or Tirek can. That's not much of a win for you, is it?"

531271

>>531269
"Interesting..Well If you really do know this I'm not opposed to making a deal."

531272

>>531269
Sigh and start massaging my temples.
"We could spend the rest of the night posturing and throwing threats back and forth, or you could just tell us what we want to know so we can go our separate ways."

531273

>>531269
"Let's get on with it."

531274

>>531271
>>531272
>>531273
The bandit motions to the others
"The jewel is held in a town up on Hollowtop Peak. It's served as something of a meetup location for those running these operations, and is well defended. Impossible to get into alive, unless you know the password"

531275

>>531274
"Spit it out then."

531276

>>531274
"…yes?"

531277

>>531274
"Let me guess: the password is 'password.'"

531278

>>531277
"Yes?"

531279

>>531275
>>531276
>>531277
He motions for the others to start running
"The password chosen for the gem buyers was 'Midnight Forever'.
The password for members is 'We don't use a password you idiot'.
Satisfied?"

531280

>>531279
"Yes, run along now."

531281

>>531279
Shrug. "I was close."

531282

>>531279
"Shoo."

531283

>>531279
"Swordfish was safer."

531284

>>531279
"Easy to remember at least. Don't get caught okay?"

531285

>>531280
>>531281
>>531282
>>531283
>>531284
"Cheers."
He limps off to join his mates.

Now you know where this trail leads.
Lady Sunset will be headed for Hollowtop
Cloudcover would still prefer Canterlot

531286

>>531285
I sit down.
"So…seems like we'll have to make a decision."

531287

>>531285
My duty with the lady is done, I have accomplished what she hired me for…
But my duty to the world is not yet over.

Turn to the others.
No.
Actually, go look for the other lord.
Him.
>>531281
Clear my throat to catch his attention, coughing softly.
"Milord?"

531288

>>531286
"Seems like we do."

531289

>>531287
"Yes, milady?"

531290

>>531285
Watch them leave in silence.
I already put forth my vote.
voting with husbando~

531291

>>531289
"Please don't mock me, I'm no highborn."

531292

>>531291
"Since when is addressing a lady with a term of respect considered mockery?"

531293

>>531292
Scowl from under the hood.
"Because I'm not a-"
Groan.
"Nevermind. If milord wishes, he can call me what he pleases.
There is however a favor I'd like, in exchange for that."

531294

>>531293
Tilt my head. "You say that like I need your permission."

531295

>>531294
"From the little I've seen, you'd not manage to be so rude, no."
Smile slightly.

531296

>>531295
Grin back. "You give me too much credit, Miss Blossom. Now, what was that favor you wanted to ask of me?"

531297

>>531295
>>531296
Mutter something under my breath.

531298

>>531297
Let's see if I heard that. '1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

531299

>>531298
"Get a room already…"

531300

>>531296
"I've seen what that… Thing did to ponies. And what those heretics intend to do with it."
Bow down, head low.
"Allow me to be in your service Lord Dawn, allow me a chance to protect Equestria from all this."

531301

>>531288
"I'm with wherever you guys want to go.
Let's just decide quick and go."

531302

>>531300
Take a minute to process this, then smile. "I would be honored to accept your service, Miss Fire Blossom. Welcome to the team."
>>531299
"Oh, get your mind out of the gutter!"

531303

>>531302
Feing ignorance.
"Hm?"

531304

>>531302
Stand up.
"Thank you milord."

531305

>>531285
>>531303
>>531304
"So, I believe we have voted in favor of taking the mirror back to Canterlot, is that correct?"

By the way, where's Smooth Silk? She's not picking Cloudcover's pocket's, is she?

531306

>>531305
"There is no point in recovering the mirror if it will just get stolen again. It will be safe in Canterlot."

531307

>>531305
No, she seems to be counting up all the stuff she picked up from the treasure cave.

531308

>>531305
Nod in agreement.

531309

>>531306
>>531307
>>531308
"Then if there's nothing further, I suggest we all get a good night's sleep so we're ready to go in the morning."

531310

>>531309
"I'm sure we will have no nightmares whatsoever."

531311

>>531310
Wince.
"Don't even joke about that!"

531312

>>531310
"Don't worry, I'm sure Eira will chase away all the scary nightmares for you."

531313

>>531312
"Sure she will."

>>531311
"I wasn't joking."

531314

"I will see you at Hollowtop then."
Lady Sunset and Sunsong depart, hoping to make up some lost time.

531315

>>531314
"Have a safe travel, Lady Sunset!"

531316

>>531311
"Hey, look at it this way: your nightmares are going to be nothing compared to mine. Now, since you're serving me now, I assume you'll be sleeping over here with me and my little group. The big diamond dog currently asleep is Dulltooth, and the mare cuddled up with him is Fern; she's actually an extremely recent addition. The mare counting money over there is Smooth Silk; would you like me to introduce you?"

531317

>>531314
"Safe travels, milady. Watch your back, and trust your ears."

531318

>>531316
"I would be honored, milord."

531319

>>531314
>>531316
>>531318
Well then, let's go introduce Smooth Silk and Fire Blossom, shall we?

531320

>>531314
"Yeah, try not to keel over."

531321

>>531319
"Was there something you needed?"

531322

>>531314
start walking toward Canterlot.

531323

>>531318
>>531321
"Smooth Silk, this is Fire Blossom. Fire Blossom, Smooth Silk. She's going to be working with us now." Eye the stuff she's counting.
"Find anything worthwhile down there?"

531324

>>531321
>>531323
Bow down slightly.

531325

>>531322
Cloudcover puts a wing on your back
"It's getting late you know…"
>>531323
"Yes. More than enough to keep me fed and housed for a good time to come."
>>531324
"Nice to meet you."

531326

>>531322
"Slow down there! It's late; the rest of us are going to bed down for the night."

531327

>>531325
"It's a honor to be part of such noble a cause.
Have you been travelling with lord Dawn for long?"

531328

>>531325
"I thought that was my job, seeing as you're working for me and all."

531329

>>531325
"So where will we rest for the night?"

531330

>>531325
>>531326
"What? I'm not even tired yet!" Frown a bit.

531331

>>531330
"Bet Cloudcover's glad to hear that. Just find someplace secluded and try to keep it down, okay?"

531332

>>531327
"Not too long. We made a deal - I help him with his work, and he helps me get out of Equestria."
>>531328
"After we part ways, that is."
>>531329
"The old mine town is not far. And I think we passed a church on the way here."

531333

>>531332
"Out of… Equestria?"
Look at her in confusion.

531334

>>531332
"Whichever we come across first then."

531335

>>531331
give you a slight glare.

531336

>>531332
"Ah… I see. Always good to plan ahead… So, what do you think of Dulltooth's new friend? I get the feeling she's going to another addition to our party."

531337

>>531335
Respond with a shit-eating grin.

531338

>>531332
"We could set up in a clearing or something if you all are that tired." Go back toward the church. "But a church seems like a good option."

531339

>>531336
"She doesn't look like someone who can really handle adventuring."
>>531334
>>531338
"The mine town is just over the hump there, but runs the risk of an ambush.
The church is some way back, but it's safer."
>>531331
Cloudcover blushes quite a bit

531340

>>531339
Smile slightly at Cloud, he's so cute.
"I'd rather be safe than risk losing the mirror." point back toward the church.

531341

>>531339
"Yeah, but Churches have no beer."

531342

>>531339
Guess she isn't gonna reply. Just fall back for now. How far are we from town?

531343

>>531339
"Some might say the same of you, and you seem to be doing alright. Still, she's probably going be keeping you company while the rest of us bash heads with mutants."
Take a closer look at Dulltooth and Fern.

531344

>>531342
The mine town is a short walk away
The church is a little further
>>531340
"As you wish then."
"We can look for someplace out of sight if you… want to."
>>531341
"We need to be up and about in the morning regardless. There is ill time for merrymaking."
>>531343
Dulltooth has put a blanket on her and seems to be dozing off himself every few seconds.

531345

>>531344
Go over to him, making sure to keep my movements and my voice quiet so that I don't wake her. "Hey there. We're going to have to head out soon."

531346

>>531344
Sigh.
"Fine, let's just go wherever. All the same to me."

531347

>>531344
>>531341
"If everyone is tired, we can ill risk a fight."
>>531344
We shouldn't stay up too too late. smile at Cloud and walk close to his side.

531348

>>531341
>>531347
"Well, actually…
I know the priestess of that church. I grew up there.
I'm sure they can spare a few beds for the night."

531349

>>531347
>>531348
"Church it is."

531350

>>531345
"Alright.
I bring Fern."
>>531347
"Lets try to be quick then?"
>>531348
>>531349
"Very well. Onwards, to the church!"

531351

>>531348
"Really? That's quite generous of you to speak for us."
>>531350
Give him a playful nudge.

531352

>>531350
"Good. How's she doing?"
>>531348
"You'll have to introduce me then."

531353

>>531351
>>531352
"After what we went through, it's the least I can do."

531354

>>531350
Walk walk.
At the end of the group.

531355

>>531352
"Tired. Seemed agitated."
Dulltooth picks her up gently
"Lets go."
>>531351
He wraps a wing around you as you head for the church

If you have anything you still want to do, now is the time

531356

>>531355
Nod and head for the church.

531357

531358

>>531355
As ready as I'll ever be.

531359

>>531355
Smile up at him.
cuddling~ But really I can't think of anything unless someone wants to faff

531360

And so you arrived at the church doors, bathing in the welcoming light.
"Blossom?
Back so soon, hm?"

NEXT TIME ON BUTT CENTRAL
BACKTRACKING
PLANNING AHEAD
AND THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT

531370

>>531360
Bow down.
And then rush for a hug.

531388

>>531370
The Head Priestess greets you with a smile
"Back so soon, Blossom?"

531389

>>531388
I pay my respects to the Royal Sisters first of course!

531390

531392

>>531388
"Good evening, madame. I hope it would not be too much for us to request lodging for the night?"

531393

>>531388
"Yes!
Lady Sunset dispensed me, but I've found a new purpouse!"
Show her the others.
"Lord Amber Dawn and his companions have helped us out immensely and allowed me to join them."

531404

>>531388
Let them have their smallchat.

531405

>>531393
"And what is your new quest?"
>>531392
"Not at all. Offering sanctuary to travelers is the duty of all good ponies."
>>531389
The place is humble, but rather big. Enough to house several clerics.

531406

>>531405
"Do you have any drinks?"

531407

>>531405
Any shrines?

531408

>>531405
Scratch behind my back.
"A delivery. To Canterlot! Can you believe it? I've never been there!"

531409

>>531405
"So, you are acquainted with Maiden Fire Blossom here?"

531421

>>531406
"Check the cellar, friend."
>>531407
There is an impressive painting of the sisters with an altar before it
>>531408
"A delivery?
Why, this cargo must be most important."
>>531409
"Indeed. She is one of ours after all.
I'm sure she can give the best details herself."

531423

>>531421
Time to burn a blue candle for the Lady of the Night.
'1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

531425

>>531421
…oh, this might be not that bad.
"Thanks."
Let's find that cellar!

531427

>>531421
"Ah, but you'd be the one with all the embarassing stories about her hijinks gone wrong, correct? I know my old instructor would love nothing more than tell any and all of my companions about the trouble I was always getting into."

531428

>>531421
"More than my own life. Now, all they need is a bed."
>>531409
Turn to him.

531442

>>531423
You can't seem to light the candle
>>531425
It's probably down that hatch in the kitchen.
>>531427
"Please.
Shaming others is not the way of a good heart."
>>531428
"You may sleep up in the guest beds."

531446

>>531442
Open the hatch and down I go.

531447

>>531442
This is bullshit.
Or a bad omen?
I'll light it! '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

531453

>>531442
"Embarrassing and shaming are very distinct from each other, but I understand your reasoning. Besides, she doesn't seem the type to go hunting for trouble like I tend to."
>>531428
"Would you mind pointing us in the right direction? Dulltooth's already half asleep."

531455

>>531446
You come face to face with a pony who looks like she's seen a fair share of fights
"And who in the Sun's name are you supposed to be?"
>>531447
You begin to realize lighting the bottom of the candle isn't going to work

531456

>>531455
I WILL MAKE IT WORK '1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

531457

>>531455
"The boogie-dog, taker of booze. Ooooh!"
Snort.
"What do you think? A guest."

531462

>>531453
"Not at all milord.
This way."
>>531442
And after parting ways with the headmare, off to the guests' cells.

531464

>>531456
You end up nearly lighting the painting on fire with your angry fumbling.
The clerics look a little worried
>>531457
"Oh.
What are ye doing in the cellar then?"
>>531462
Simple yet cozy, just as you remember them.

Dulltooth tucks Fern in one of the beds and sits down next to it.

531467

>>531464
"They said there should be something to drink down here."

531468

>>531464
I'll….I'll just put it here then.
Stupid candles.

531471

>>531464
"Are you going to be alright, Dulltooth?"
>>531462
"So, she seemed nice."

531472

>>531464
>>531471
Answer with a smile on my face.
"She really is. She's been better than a mother to me."
Open the door.
"And here we are. Your room. I will be staying a few cells over."

531473

>>531472
"Thank you, miss Blossom. I wish you pleasant dreams."

531474

>>531467
"Yeh. You want to help with the yardwork to pay for it?"
>>531471
"Yeh."
He seems to be dozing off again
>>531468
A couple of the clerics come sit by you to offer their prayers to the night

531475

>>531473
Bow my head slightly.
"May the Moon watch over your dreams aswell, milord."
>>531474
Out I go. Back to my room.

531476

>>531474
"Sorry, I'm a bit busy saving the world or something."
Lean against a wall.
"Tough luck, huh?"

Do I have a blanket on me? If not, take the one from my room and drape it over him.
I know I'm not going to get a good night's sleep. At least I can make sure someone else does.

531478

>>531474
Join them.
Wait for their prayer to end.

531479

>>531476
"Tough for you. There's water in the well. Bring me a bucketfull while you're out there."
She shoves you back up the hatch and closes it behind her.
>>531475
Same as ever. It's rather nostalgic.
It even smells the same.
>>531477
He is fast asleep by now.
Silk is standing around nonchalantly.
>>531478
They take out a candle and offer you to join them in lighting it

531480

>>531479
….light it very very carefully? '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

531481

>>531479
Hey!
…damn ponies.
It's not like I wanted to drink or anything.
Let's get back to whoever I can find.
"So, where can I sleep?"

531482

>>531480
You light it together
This time it works fine

531483

>>531479
Close the door and let out a sigh.
Put the weapon on its stand and remove my coat, leaving it on the bed.
Sit on it.

531484

>>531479
Hope he enjoys the blanket. Is there a cell available for Silk, too?

531485

>>531481
"There are guest rooms upstairs meant for travelers."
>>531483
A little hard, to remind you not to spend your life sleeping
>>531484
"We can share."

531487

>>531485
It makes a fair point.
Off I go, to the church itself.

531488

>>531482
"Thanks."

531490

>>531488
"The night needs every devote it can get."
>>531487
The Head Priestess looks surprised
"Aren't you tired?"

531491

>>531485
Blush a little. "Are you sure? I'm probably not going to have the most restful sleep; I wouldn't want to keep you up. Besides, I've slept on the ground before."

531493

>>531490
"I've been a follower for a long time.
The night suits me."

531494

>>531490
Sit next to her and nod.
"But it's not all that hails me."

531495

>>531485
"Thanks. Night, and all."
Let's find one of those rooms.

531498

>>531493
"Sometimes I wish the nights could last longer. They are beautiful."
>>531494
"Speak then, child."
>>531495
It's pretty bare. Nothing more than a bed, a stool, a small table and a rack for weapons.
>>531491
"I won't mind."

531502

>>531498
"In these last few hours I've seen things…
Ponies wouldn't believe."
Wince.

531504

>>531498
What else would I need?
Put my stuff down on the rack and table, then fall onto the bed.
"This day…"

531506

>>531498
Try to keep my blush under control as I remove my armor.. "Great! I mean, uh, good. Good. Um…" '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

531507

>>531498
"They are. But dark things creep in the night."

531510

>>531498
>>531506
Good. I'll just… get in the bed then.

531515

>>531502
"Walk with me then, and speak."
>>531504
The dog from earlier who helped you escape peeks in
"Oh, this one is taken?"
>>531507
"Which is why the night needs more devouts, to balance them out."
>>531510
>>531506
Silk looks a little surprised as you get on the bed.
She then shrugs and settles down on the floor.

531521

>>531515
Look at him.
"Does it look empty?"
Is there only this one bed?

531522

>>531515
"Wait, why are you getting on the floor? You said we wanted to share… oh. You were talking about sharing a room." Off the bed, try not to make myself look like even more of an idiot! '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

531524

>>531521
They all only have one bed.
"No."
>>531522
"Well, yes.
And you seem to have figured I wanted to share the bed.
Then… I doubt I'm in any position to argue, am I? You're still my best chance of making it out of Equestria alive."

531525

>>531524
"Let me guess, all of them are taken."

531526

>>531515
"We'll need many, many more to balance it out."

531527

>>531515
Nod and stand, following her.
"It scares me, High Priestess.
What happened in that cave…"

531528

>>531524
"No, no, go ahead and take the bed. I'm experienced in sleeping on the ground, know how to make a makeshift pillow and everything!" Try to put together some kind of wad of clothes or something to rest my head on, then flop down on the floor and settle in. '1d10'
"See? Perfectly comfortable!"

Roll #1 7 = 7

531530

>>531525
"No, this was just the first one I tried."
>>531526
"Sadly so. But we will not abandon the night.
I know many who have ventured out to spread word of its virtues. Like that nice Sweet Potato, and my old friend Nocturne."
>>531528
"You'll be stiff and cold in the morning."
>>531527
"Tell me all about it, if it eases your heart."

531532

>>531530
"Some luck you'd have that it has a bitch in it."

531533

>>531530
"A noble purpose. Where did they go?"

531535

>>531530
"Well, I'm not going to make you sleep on the floor!"

531538

>>531530
Look up at her in worry.
"What if something really, really bad and big might happen, and you were nothing but… You?
Well, me in this case!"

531542

>>531532
"A place where I can sleep would have been nicer. But if you need company I can always chat."
>>531533
"Potato mentioned something about going out to clear our ghosts when we met.
I think Nocturne moved to Fetlock Shores, that town by the seaside."
>>531535
She sighs
"Then get up here. You have a long walk to Canterlot ahead."
>>531538
"We face the trials of life armed with what we have made for ourselves in our hearts and what our friends grant us at our side.
That is all we can do."

531543

>>531542
"…Alright then." Try to keep my blush under control as I climb into bed with her. '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

531544

>>531542
"Maybe I'll meet them someday. It's always good to meet fellow followers of the night."

531545

>>531542
"…Are you telling me to go?"

531546

>>531542
Sit up on the bed.
"Yeah, let's have a lenghty conversation about how we messed up big time. It'll help put me to sleep."

531556

>>531543
She lays her head on the pillow and sighs
"I hope you didn't somehow think I'd follow you to Canterlot."
>>531544
"Indeed. Indeed…
If only the midnight could last forever…"
>>531545
"I'm telling you to trust in yourself, as I, too, trust in you."
>>531546
"Well, I guess you'd prefer just being alone, then."

531557

>>531556
"…Thanks, Light."
Stay silent for a while.
"I should go pray."

531560

>>531556
"Whatever gave you that idea?"

531561

>>531556
"…..what did you say?"

531568

>>531557
"You did not tell me what weighed so heavily on your heart to begin with."
>>531560
"The fact that you seem to have gotten used to it."
>>531561
"It's a beautiful night, no?"

531569

>>531568
Wince
"…It's horrific.
Foul to say, even thinking about it taints the mind."

531570

>>531568
Are there more followers of the night here?

531571

>>531556
"I know how dangerous that would be for you. We'll find somewhere nearby where you can stay while we finish our business inside. Even if you did have to come with us for some reason… you have a disguise and somepony with authority to vouch for you."

531572

>>531568
"You'd love it too if you were being surrounded by ponies insisting on the magic of friendship all day."

531582

>>531570
A couple. Most of them have moved on to other duties, like lighting candles and tending to the plants
>>531569
"Hm. Well, I cannot help you if I do not know what ails you."
>>531572
"I am not a pony.
The only ponies I ever knew were slaves."
>>531571
"I don't trust authority or disguises in the city of the Assassin Lord."

531583

>>531582
"…Darkness, milady."

531584

>>531582
"Maybe it's because I'm not native to Equestria, but… who's this Assassin Lord?"

531585

>>531582
"Oh boy, will you be in for some fun when you'll get to know some free ones. You'll wish you never did."

531595

>>531583
"Darkness is what you are left with when you blow out the candles for the night."
>>531584
"A thousand rumors exist of House Falconwreath training and/or being a group of secretive assassins who are allowed to exist because they also do dirty work for the princesses. I do not want to risk finding out those tales are true."
>>531585
"All things deserve to be free. And happy."

531601

>>531582
"Thank you. I think I should go rest now."

531606

>>531595
Scrunch.
"Unholy darkness, then."

531607

>>531595
"Apparently I don't, since they didn't give me the booze I was asking for."

531608

>>531601
"As you wish. I will be here, appreciating the night as it deserves to be appreciated."
>>531606
"Ah. Evil and corruption. I understand your terror."
>>531607
"Did you try…. asking nicely?"

531609

>>531595
"Hey, I promised to keep you safe, didn't I? No assassin is going to hurt you while I'm around."

531610

>>531608
"These ponies…
I joined them because they seek to put an end to this."

531611

>>531608
"Of course."
Go hide somewhere close to keep a watch on him '1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

531612

>>531608
Pause a bit.
"…well, obviously."

531622

>>531609
"Then they will hurt you first.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone made an interhouse deal to hurt me in exchange for some other favors."
>>531610
"Then I trust it is a noble cause. You were raised to have righteous judgment."
>>531612
He sighs
"Are you still thirsty?"
>>531611
He keeps muttering prayers to his candle.
But none of his prayers explicitly mention Luna… Only the Night, and the one who makes it…

531623

>>531622
Interesting.
Keep watch.

531624

>>531622
Wave a paw.
"I'm fine."

531625

>>531622
"What if I'm not up to the task?"

531626

>>531622
"I have pretty thick skin. Besides, they can't target us if they don't know you're there."

531627

>>531624
"Alright.
Sorry to keep you awake then."
>>531625
"It is a greater shame to fear defeat than to be defeated."
>>531626
"I'm not coming to Canterlot."
>>531623
For just a tiny moment, the flame of the candle flickers from blue to black.

531630

>>531627
My eyes widen.
This is foul magic.

531631

>>531627
Smile.
"I'm happy to see you worry for my pride, but I was thinking about the fate of Equestria then…"

531638

>>531627
"I know. We'll find a nice inn on the outskirts of the city and rent you a room to stay in or something. I'm not going to risk losing you to any of the noble houses, assassins or no."

531640

>>531627
"Yeah…
Oh, wait.
I don't think I ever caught your name."

531641

>>531630
Will he keep watch the entire night?

531648

>>531630
He leaves the candle on the altar and goes outside
>>531631
"Fate has a curious habit of picking the unlikeliest heroes in times of need."
>>531638
"I suppose…"
>>531640
"Dachs.
You?"

531650

>>531648
"Hmn? Do you have another idea about how we can keep you safe?"

531651

>>531648
"Cassie."

531653

>>531648
Hmmmm.
Snatch the candle.
Then look for his quarters '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

531654

>>531648
Look up at her with a smile.
"Guess your little girl will be a hero then."

531655

>>531651
"You don't happen to know a dog by the name of Cassit, do you?"
>>531650
"Get me out of Equestria maybe?
Or I don't know. Fake my death. Do a big favor for the people who want my head. Something."
>>531653
It's impossible to tell which is his. They ARR ROOK SAME
>>531654
"Only time will tell.
But nopony is a hero without some sleep."

531656

>>531655
Fuck.
And I didn't ask his name.
Search one of them.
With a bit of luck I roll a 10 and happen to pick the right one!

531657

>>531655
Nod.
"I will go, milady."
Off to bed without supper!

531658

>>531656
'1d10'

Roll #1 10 = 10

531659

>>531655
Raise a brow.
"No, why?"

531660

>>531655
"I am going to get you out of Equestria, okay? It's just… this thing we're doing is big. Like, "Fate of the world hangs in the balance" big."

531662

>>531659
"Your name sounded similar, is all."
>>531656
>>531658
This room is obviously the one.
It has a lot of paintings. They all depict the night. Each one is a little different, but they are all midnights.
>>531657
Roll for how much of a sleepy pon you are
>>531660
"And here I was hoping my life would get less weird.
Well, I suppose the easiest thing would be making sure House Starling owes you a favor, and then making them forgive me be that favor."

531664

>>531662
Shake my head.
"Never heard of her."

531665

What a creepy fuck.
Quickly search it for books, clues, perhaps a diary if he's one of those dumbass villains that writes everything down '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

531672

>>531662
"You know, that's funny. I think the Starlings recently had a mirror stolen from them. A mirror integral to a plot to summon an ancient demon no less. If only we were to happen to be in possession of said mirror… and knowledgeable as to why it is so important, perhaps?"

531677

>>531664
"I see. Oh well."
>>531665
There are no dreams here
Only visions of corruption and madness. Of betrayal and fear. Of doing too little too late.
>>531667
Nope. Nothing of the sort. Just very skillful paintings of nightly landscapes.
>>531672
"The mirror belongs to House Falconwreath…"

531678

>>531677
I'll remember them.
Find a spot to hide in here. '1d10'

"What, she was your crush or something?"

531680

>>531677
What a positive note to start this new quest on.

531681

>>531678
There is nothing in here but paintings and a lone bed. You can hide under it but that's the best you can do.
>>531679
"No, he was a necromancer of some infamy."
>>531680
Face your fears and conquer them.

531682

>>531681
Eh….I've hid in worse places before.
Wait here until he goes to bed.

531683

>>531681
"I'm sure glad that I don't know her then."

531684

>>531681
Turn around, scared. Who was that?!
'1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

531685

>>531677
"Oh right. Well, that's leverage over the assassins, at least. One of the other artifacts belonged to House Starling; I forget which, I'm bad with names. Point is, they've gone through some trouble to keep this under wraps; we should be able to work something out where we don't spread the news that the Lord of Midnight is returning in exchange for them forgetting that you exist."

531687

>>531682
Are you sure you wish to go with this plan?
>>531683
"Hm."
>>531684
The Head Priestess came to see that you made it to bed.
"You aren't sleeping."
>>531685
"The Jewel of Midnight is the symbol of House Starling.
But perhaps the mirror can buy us some protection."

531688

>>531687
If it goes wrong, I can always scream.

531689

>>531687
Sit up.
"I…
It's…
Sorry milady."

531690

>>531687
"Damn right hm. Now was there anything else?"

531691

>>531687
"You see? It's all going to work out in the end. I promise."

531692

>>531688
As a night priest, he sleeps during the day.
You spend all night in the dust under his bed for nothing.
>>531689
"Should I sing you a lullaby?"
>>531690
"Guess not, unless you don't mind sharing the room."
>>531691
"I'll hold you to that."

531693

>>531692
…fuck and we're leaving in the morning right?

531694

>>531692
Glare at him.
"The room? Fine. The bed? No way."

531695

>>531692
"I'm counting on it." Should we sleep now?

531696

>>531693
That was the plan, yes.
Here's hoping you fell asleep under the bed out of boredom after a while.
>>531694
"Eh. I'd rather not have a sore back in the morning."
>>531695
Probably.

531701

>>531697
You were wide awake and alert the whole night.
You are now dead sleepy and it is morning. This will have a devastating effect on your awareness.
>>531698
You dream of all the things a grateful Silk could do to you.
She is also really warm, sleeping there next to you.
>>531699
"At times.
Good night, then. I understand you have a long trip tomorrow."
He closes the door
>>531700
She starts humming a calming tune

531702

>>531701
Sit by her side, resting my head on her shoulder.
"Lightstream…
I shall make the sisters proud."

531703

Oh fuck me.
I should tell the others there's like an evil guy here.
Trot over to them.
I should warn them.

>>533035
>>533036
>>533037
"We were sent out to hunt this criminal"
"Big reward for his head"

533041

>>533040
"I'll keep an eye out. We're sort of in a hurry now though."

533042

>>533040
"We'll be sure to let you know if we see him. Now, may we pass?"

533045

>>533040
"No such luck. What did he do?"

533046

>>533045
"Started a riot and stole a lot of property"
>>533041
>>533042
"Keep on moving then."

As you pass then, you notice one of them has the distinct twisted wounds left by Black Flame… Clearly not enough to cause him to mutate into something horrible, but he obviously was among those who fought to protect the dog homes.

533047

>>533046
Just keep on moving. No need to cause trouble.

533049

>>533046
Eh…we need to get to Canterlot.
This is not my fight.

533050

>>533046
Let's keep walking.

533054

>>533047
>>533049
>>533050
You decide to let them be, and let fate decide what becomes of their home when they return.

Dachs eventually catches up with you, constantly glancing over his shoulder
"That went… far better than expected."

533055

>>533054
"You were lucky."

533056

>>533054
"Agreed. We got a lucky break there. Come on, let's keep moving before we find something else unpleasant."

533058

>>533054
"I guess you're not going back, huh?"

533063

>>533058
"As much as I want to get my hands cut off and get sent to mining rocks with headbutts, I think I'll pass"

533064

>>533063
Check on Dulltooth and Fern. How are they handling that close encounter?

533065

>>533063
"Missing a golden opportunity like that, tsk."

533066

>>533064
Dulltooth seems to have hidden Fern in a sack he has over his shoulder.
>>533065
"It's less funny when it almost just happened."

533067

>>533066
"We wouldn't have let them take you."

533068

>>533066
"Good thinking, Dulltooth. Hey Fern, you doing all right in there?"

533069

>>533066
"Nice idea, Dulltooth…..uh, it is your way of making sure they can't find him and you're not claiming him as your own right?"

533071

>>533068
"Lets get a less smelly bag next time. Maybe a basket or something."
>>533069
"Fern friend, not slave. But should stay close. For safety."
>>533067
"That's a relief."

And so you go about your business, arriving to the outskirts of Canterlot in the afternoon.
The great city looks fantastic in this light, Princess Celestia truly has made another work of art. All that remains now is to climb up the road leading to the gates.

533072

>>533071
"Who got the bright idea of making a city so high up without an elevator or something…"
Keep grumbling and start walking.

533073

>>533071
Ah Canterlot by day.
Almost as good as the one at night!

533075

>>533071
Ooh wait, are there any inns nearby? I still need to find a place for Silk to stay while we head inside the city.

533077

>>533071
"Whoooa…"
Look in amazement at the towers of the city from here.
"I've never been to Cantarlot…"

533080

>>533075
There is a traveler's inn some way back, acting as a rest stop for those traveling between the royal palace of Everfree and the noble city of Canterlot.

533083

>>533080
"Hey, I need to go take care of something real quick. You guys go on ahead, I'll catch up with you when I'm done."

533085

>>533083
"Sure. Don't get lost."

533088

>>533080
>>533085
Right then, grab Silk and the rest of my followers and head for the inn.
>>533077
"Would you prefer to stick with me or go with the rest of the group? This should only take a moment."

533089

>>533088
Look dumbfolded for a moment.
"I…
I want to see the city! Milord, please, let me!"

533091

>>533089
"Then by all means, go see the sights! We'll rejoin you once I've finished my business. Enjoy yourself, miss Blossom!"

533092

>>533091
Beam joy from every hair in my body and rush ahead with the others.

533095

>>533088
The innkeeper is a jolly looking pony, balding a bit but compensating with impressive mutton chops. His girth tells much of his wealth.
"Welcome, travelers from afar. Here to rest a bit?"
>>533085
>>533092
>>533073
Do you wish to head to Canterlot or wait for Amber?

533097

>>533095
I will hang with the others looking like a very excited schoolgirl.

533098

>>533095
Eh….Amber told us to go on…

533100

>>533095
"Indeed. I would like to rent one of your rooms."

533101

>>533095
…that dumb pony will get himself into trouble, no doubt.
I'll wait.
"You can go, I'll catch up with you too."

533102

>>533100
"Just one for all of you?"

533104

>>533102
"How large are your rooms, and what are your rates?"

533108

>>533101
You sit down to wait with Dachs
>>533097
>>533098
You head into the city. Considering his credentials, Whisper gets you past the gates with ease.
Before you opens the great expanse of Canterlot's market district. A place of wealth and refined taste where common goods of reasonable prices can be harder to find than one would imagine.
The tall spires and stained glass windows of the city give the sunlight an almost dreamlike quality as it is filtered into dancing rays of subtle colors, drawing slowly moving shapes along every surface, as if a spectral crowd lived among the citizens.
>>533104
"We got lil' room for light travelers and go all the way up to big shared rooms for families. Of course, nice things cost extra."

533113

>>533108
"I'll take something in the middle. We don't need much space, but our group's too large for just a little room." Plus, it's only going to be the one pony staying in it.

533115

>>533108
Do that little 'o' shape with my mouth.
"This is… This is incredible!
Whisper, tell me, where are the churches? And…
Ohmygosh can we even see the Princess!?"

533118

>>533108
"Have you ever been away from home?"

533122

>>533115
I chuckle.
"I believe the princess has many, many matters to attend to. But I can show you the churches."
Lead her to the biggest of the churches dedicated to the Sun and Moon.

533123

>>533113
"Alright, and how did you plan to pay?"
>>533118
"Not really, no. I was a guard, not a scout.
Only time I really saw anything different was when we moved to the new tunnels under that mine."
>>533115
Cloudcover looks to the sky
"The Princesses reside in the royal palace in Everfree. Canterlot is the city of nobles."

533124

>>533123
"You don't seem very excited now."

533125

>>533123
"Ooooh…"
>>533122
Happily trot after him.
"You live here, Whisper?"

533126

>>533123
Well, I do have money on me don't I? Would I be able to pay him up front?

533128

>>533124
"That stuff you talked about… about the mutants and the disease and so forth…
It still kinda gnaws on me I suppose."
>>533126
Silk certainly could, with all she stole from the dog treasure cave.

533131

>>533128
>Lead her to the biggest of the churches dedicated to the Sun and Moon.

I bet there are some churches here right?

>>533125
"Yes. I have a small little place here. Nothing special."

533132

>>533128
"The ponies being infected? I lied. They are all fine. I just needed to get them out. I think the mutants did that to themselves."

533133

>>533128
"Silk, are you all right paying for your own room?"

533134

>>533131
"This town in itself is special, Whisper!
How can't you…"
Wander around again, looking at the alien sights and ivory towers.
Then stop right next to Whisper.
"It's so beautiful."

533137

>>533131
There are. Though it's a little less religious than most since Celestia and Luna visit it in person at times. So it's more of a… public relations building than a place of idol worship.
>>533133
She looks a little hurt by your lack of chivalry, but just rolls her eyes and tosses some gems on the counter.
The Innkeep smiles and gives you a key
"Enjoy your stay kids."
>>533132
"That's only slightly less unnerving. What even causes shit like that to happen?"

533139

>>533137
Bring her to one of those, she'll probably be happy that she can walk on the ground where the Princesses walked.

That reminds me, I'd like to talk to somepony of the Inquisition or some religious order about the midnight forever thing.

>>533134
"It is quite a sight, the first time I saw it I was blown away."
Bring her to the church in question.
"Celestia and Luna themselves visit this place sometimes!"

533140

>>533137
"Oh don't give me that look, I know you've got money to spare." Get serious for a moment. "Just keep that knife sharp and stay safe. We'll be back before you know it."

533144

>>533137
"They're part of some sort of cult.
Oh, and we're trying to stop the end of the world too, I guess. Thought you should know that before you get too commited to the group. If that's not your kind of thing, we won't judge you."

533147

>>533139
You can talk to the Inquisition representatives if you wish, leave a message for the Princess via courier at the church, or turn to Lord Falconwreath and his supposed league of shadow assassins.
>>533140
She gives a sharp nod and heads up to her room
>>533144
"I'm used to keeping pups out of trouble and ponies in line. Saving the world from crazy monsters sounds… like a lot."

533148

>>533139
>>533137
I'll be taken by surprise at that statement, and take a step back.
Look at the church from here, in fear and surprise.
"R-really?"

533150

>>533147
Alright, now that that's taken care of, let's go regroup with the rest of the party.

533151

>>533147
"It's basically keeping ponies out of trouble and whatever we are fighting in line."

533155

>>533147
Hmmmm.
I suppose I should be acting as an agent of my house foremost, which means reporting back to Lord Falconwreath first. He should know there might be a potential larger conspiracy at work here to properly protect his assets.
He'll know what to do.

But first I'll show Fire Blossom around.

>>533148
"Yes, you're walking the same ground they walked right now!"

533158

>>533155
Look down and then suddenly jump, as if trying to fly.
Then shakily stand on my hooves again.
"I- I'm n-not worthy!"

533160

>>533158
"It's just a floor. The princesses are not here now. Let's go inside and pay our respects."

533162

>>533160
Nod and follow, in respectful silence.

533163

>>533150
You soon catch up to the others in Canterlot, picking up Cassie along the way.
The gate guards look rather suspicious at no less than three diamond dogs coming their way
>>533151
He looks no less worried
But hey, here comes Amber!
>>533155
You work for Lord Starling, not Falconwreath.

533166

>>533163
Shit, sorry been a while since that.
I'll report to Lord Starling first about it, after the tour of the church.

533168

>>533163
Pat the shoulders of Dasch.
"Welcome to my terrible, terrible world, enjoy your stay."
Look at Amber.
"What was that about?"

533172

>>533163
Hey, I'm leading these diamond dogs! They shouldn't bother us.
>>533168
"Silk managed to make herself some powerful enemies in Canterlot. Bringing her into the city wouldn't be the safest course of action, so we had to rent a room for her to stay in."

533176

>>533172
"You're not as dumb as you look."

533177

>>533166
Turn to him.
"Whisper…"
Smile from under the hood.
"Thanks for showing me this place."
And then
>>533163
Enter the church and walk down to the first row of seats/benches.

533178

>>533176
"Hey!"

533180

>>533177
"My pleasure. I have a little errand to run while I'm here. Will you be okay on your own?"

533181

>>533166
He will be waiting in his house.
Watch the shadows.
>>533168
Encouraged by the pat, he sticks quite close to you
>>533172
You do get in, but not without some attention.
>>533177
The place is very open, with large spaces and high rooms designed to carry sound and reflect light as impressively as possible. Not many ponies are here right now, and your steps echo with a pleasant note.

533182

>>533178
"What?"

>>533181
Dumb ponies, always staring.

533184

>>533180
Nod.
"You have done more than enough for such a stupid girl already.
I'm sorry for holding you back, milord."
>>533181
Oh my. Be light on my hooves then!
And then sit down, and pray.
Pray for guidance.

533187

>>533184
"I was happy to help. I'll see you later then."
Trot outside.

>>533181
Time to report in then.

533188

>>533181
>>533182
"Okay, I need to go speak with Lord Falconwreath while we're here. Is there anywhere in particular you want to go before we do that?"

533192

>>533188
"I want to get some new pants, since these got ruined. Again."

533193

>>533184
One of the… priests? comes talk to you
"You must be new in town."
>>533187
You make your way up to the hallowed House Starling and enter via the secret doors only you and a few others know of.
Lord Starling is most pleased to see you
"Ah, Whisper. Did you recover my gem?"
>>533188
Cloudcover is keeping an eye on the packed up mirror
"I'll keep this thing safe. Once we return it, I'd like to check on my brother."

533195

>>533193
Look up.
"Yes, milord."
Stand up and bow graciously.

533199

>>533192
"Considering how often they get damaged, you might want to get a few extra pairs as well. Just in case."
>>533193
"Alright. We'll be sure to give you a chance to brag to him about getting laid once we've finished our business. First up is getting Cassie some new pants."

533201

>>533199
"I was planning to."

533202

>>533195
"Hm. Yes, I figured. Not many locals come here when the Princesses aren't visiting.
What is it you seek?"
>>533199
"I would settle for just knowing he is safe."

533203

>>533202
"…Peace of mind?"

533204

>>533202
"Oh? Why would he be in danger?"

533206

>>533193
I bow my head.
"Not yet, my lord. My investigations are still ongoing. But I thought it necessary to provide you with an update."

533209

>>533203
"You have come on quite a pilgrimage if all you seek is a little reassurance, miss.
Tell me, how can this old devote aid you?"
>>533204
"While I work guard duty at the library, he works for the nobles. Last I heard he was helping keep some construction site safe, so I just want to know he hasn't gotten a hammer to the nose or something."
>>533206
"Hm. Very well, speak then."

533212

>>533209
"It seems the gem of starling was not the only artefact stolen, many artefacts of many houses have been stolen. At first I thought this was a large scale operation by a criminal gang, just a big heist…."

533213

>>533209
"Then we shall ask about him when we go before Lord Falconwreath." Now, let's find a pant's shop for Cassie.

533214

>>533213
Just what I was about to suggest

533216

>>533209
Sigh heavily and sit down once more.
"Great troubles require great pilgrimages…"

533218

>>533212
"Go on."
>>533216
"There is no need to speak in riddles, friend."
>>533213
>>533214
There are some tailors around the market district, dealing in the finest hoof-woven breezy silk with gold embroidery and other similar fineries of nobility.

533221

>>533218
Any non-fancy crap that actually sells good and tough fabric?

533224

>>533218
Let's find something durable that would fit her. '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

533225

>>533221
>>533224
In the city of the rich, famous and powerful?
Bitch please.
You might have some luck if you look for a servant equipment wholesale or something. Or make a trade with a gardener.

533226

>>533225
>>533224
"I hate everything."
Any 'military' shops?

Roll #1 4 = 4

533227

>>533226
Or can I supreme survivor spot check that?

533228

>>533218
"I'm an unwanted soul, milord."
Smile and take off the hood, revealing the burn marks.
"I've grown in a church and brought only ill luck to those who accepted me into their lives.
And now I must follow some brave heroes, because my heart, my faith compels me to, and I fear hurting them."

533229

>>533225
>>533226
"Don't give up yet." '1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

533230

>>533218
I take a deep breath.
"The bandits used a codeword "Midnight forever" As we were traveling here I met a priest of the Moon in a church we stayed the night.
He struck me as odd and I discovered he was performing dark rituals in the church. He talked about a midnight as well.
And considering the rumors surrounding these artifacts…well, my instinct tells me there is more to this than just a simple heist."

533239

>>533229
>>533226
You find a decorative yet durable gravy pitcher in a garbage bin behind a fancy silverware shop. Looks like it was just gilded iron, not gold, and thus was thrown out.
It could be fashioned into a codpiece to patch up the pants.
>>533228
He softly touches your face
"A body and mind are only as strong as their heart. And a heart is only as strong as you let it be.
Free your heart, child. Free it from the chains of doubt."
>>533230
"I always knew you were a lever lad Whisper. I just hoped you wouldn't turn out to be this clever. But the cat's out of the bag now, I suppose.
These artifacts were entrusted to the noble lines of Canterlot for safe keeping because they house the immortal remains of an ancient god of darkness - Tirek. This legend is well known in some sphered, but for generations the guardian families have sought to make it just a fairytale in the minds of the common folk. Some even honestly think it's all just a story themselves…"

533242

>>533239

"I guess I'll have to do with some fancy pants until I can get some proper ones."
Enter a shop with a sigh.
Absolutely not doing that.

533243

>>533239
>>533242
Follow her in.

533244

>>533239
"My heart tells me I will hurt them…"

533245

>>533239
I'm taken aback.
"You knew, my Lord?"

533254

>>533242
>>533243
The shopkeep immediately addresses Amber.
"Welcome, welcome, good sir. What might you be seeking this fine day?"
>>533244
"But you do not intend to, do you?
The past cannot be changed, but it can be learned from, and mistakes made in it can be rectified."
>>533245
"We all knew. Or, I certainly hope so.
My father made well sure I knew my duty as a guardian. It's a heavy duty, hell, one of the guardian families already died out. Instead of trusting any of the other noble families, the Tome of forbidden arts was entrusted to the librarians."

533255

>>533254
Snap my fingers.
"Not him, me. I'm looking for some pants."

533257

>>533254
"Actually, we're here for my friend here. She needs some new pants."

533258

>>533254
Pull the hood over my head again.
"Is it true the sisters come here?"

533259

>>533254
"I see. It is all the more important that we recover these artifacts. However, would it not be wise to inform the Inquisition of this?"

533260

>>533255
>>533257
"Hm.
How exotic~
Any specifications?"
>>533258
"Oh yes. Quite often really. They seem to enjoy Canterlot. I wouldn't be surprised if they moved here one day."
>>533259
"Those who need to know, know.
Nopony wants witch hunts all over Canterlot if someone gets some thought in their tiny head that the artifacts could somehow corrupt their keepers, or that they could be destroyed or hidden away."

533261

>>533260
Look at the ground.
"To stand here…"
And then up at him.
"Do you think they will be here today?"

533262

>>533260
"Something with lots of frills and lace."

533264

>>533260
I nod.
"I understand."

533266

>>533262
Smack the back of his head.

>>533260
"Make it simple and tough, with lots of pockets."

533269

>>533266
Laugh and rub the back of my head. "What? Don't you want to look pretty for Dachs?"

533272

>>533269
Smack him again.
"Shut up."

533273

>>533272
Keep chuckling and wiggle my eyebrows at her.

533274

>>533266
He looks visibly disgusted
"P-pockets?"
>>533269
>>533272
Dachs just looks embarrassed
>>533264
"In any case, we still need those things returned. If they are all gathered together, we may never see daylight again."

533275

533276

>>533273
Glare at him.

>>533274
"You know, pockets. The little holes that you can put things into."

533277

>>533274
"I will return to my investigation. Thank you for this insight. Those artifacts will not be brought together again."
I bow my head again and prepare to leave.

533278

>>533274
>>533276
"Come on, you know Dachs is interested. Aren't you, buddy?"

533279

>>533278
"I should have traded you in with those dogs, I swear."

533280

>>533261
"I doubt it. They were here recently.
Perhaps in a few days."
>>533276
"Absolutely disgusting.
Pockets ruin the form and pattern with baggy bulges. Ew.
No, no, my reputation would forever be ruined."
>>533277
"Go, Whisper.
And welcome to the family.
Now that you know, you, too, are a Guardian."
>>533278
"N-no comment…"

533281

>>533280
Bow again.
"Thank you milord.
I will try to visit again before fate leads me out of town."
And with this, I should leave and look for…
My companions.
But where are they?

533283

>>533280
"Do you have something that doesn't restrict movement? Cassie here likes to run around a lot."

533284

>>533280
"I will try to prove worthy of that honor."
Now leave again, filled with thoughts.
I should look for Fire Blossom.

>>533281
I wave "Hello! Did you enjoy your time?"

533286

>>533284
Turn to him.
"Oh! You are a sight for sore eyes, I feared being lost."

533287

>>533280
"What about you not serving a customer? Wouldn't that ruin your reputation? Or you being incompetent to make some simple clothing. I bet that'd be the talk of town for months."

533289

>>533286
Offer a hoof.
"Hey, I came back as fast as I could. Canterlot is a large place. Not one you'd want to get lost in."

533290

>>533279
"Oh, you know you love me. Besides, you've put up with Eira this long, haven't you?"

533293

>>533289
Take his hoof in mild confusion.

533295

>>533290
"I'll risk it and say that you are almost worse."

533296

>>533293
Ignore that confusion.
"Let us find our companions. How did you like the church?"

533297

>>533283
"Has the… madam considered layers? Or, if I may be so bold, a patch?"
>>533287
"Your words wound my soul of artist."

533299

>>533296
"It's… Always nice. And the very idea to walk the same ground the Sisters did…"
Shiver a bit in excitement.

533300

>>533297
"I'll bet the words of other artists will cut deeper if they find out you can't comply to an easy request."

533304

>>533297
"I… don't think so."

533306

>>533297
Do they already perform the Summer Sun Celebration here?

533309

>>533306
This is pre-NMM, so it's probably a little different.
>>533300
>>533304
He scrunches
"You ask for such terrible things. What of a skirt over the… existing pants, hm?"

533310

>>533309
I guess not then.

>>533299
"Shame they were not here today."

533311

>>533309
Give him a deadpan look.
"A skirt.
No way."

533313

>>533309
I'll leave this to Cassie. Are Dulltooth and Fern showing any interest for anything in the shop?

533314

>>533310
"Sadly, the priest said that'd take them days. They have been here just recently."
Look around.
"Have you already finished your errand, milord?"

533317

>>533314
"Yes, I went to pass by a friend to hear current events in Canterlot. But alas, nothing much of interest."

533320

>>533311
Dachs shrugs
"It doesn't restrict movement…"
>>533313
They are picking out a basket for Fern to ride around in.

533322

>>533320
"So Fern. I never got the chance to ask how you were doing since… well, everything."

533324

>>533317
"I can't possibly imagine such a large city having nothing of interest!
But maybe it's for the best.
Nothing to distract us from our purpouse."

533326

>>533320
"It looks dumb and it's unpractical."

533329

>>533326
"It might look nice…"
>>533322
"It beats underground slavery, that's for sure."

533331

>>533329
Look at the tailor.
"Are you sure the pants are a no go?"

533332

>>533324
"It is not that there's nothing of interest. Rather there is too much, and not enough time to give it the time it deserves."

533334

>>533332
Nod with a happy smile.
"I understand, milord.
We have a grave mission upon us, after all."

533335

>>533326
"Skirts aren't that bad. You should at least give them a chance."
>>533329
"I take it you're enjoying Dulltooth's company? You've been sticking pretty close to him ever since we got out of there."

533336

>>533331
"I am an artist of Canterlot's most revered fashion cradles. I create only the best for the best. If you want… pockets go ask the mud farmers out in the fields for some leftovers."

533338

>>533334
"Let us find the others then. I'm sure once this ghastly thing is over, there will still be a Canterlot to visit."
Look for the others '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

533339

>>533338
Chuckle.
"That's something to look forwards to."

533340

>>533336
>>533335
Grimace.
"…fine."

533341

>>533335
"Gotta admit, he makes me feel pretty safe. The whole getting carried around thing ain't so bad when you get this kinda gentle giant on your side for it."
>>533338
They are probably in the market district.

533342

>>533341
Go there then.

533343

>>533340
Dachs smiles with a toothy grin
The tailor goes in the back room to see what he should offer you.
>>533342
Cassie and Dachs are picking out clothes
Dulltooth and Amber are looking at baskets
Cloudcover and a few other guards are watching the mirror.

533344

>>533343
Point at him.
"Get that smile off your face or I'll do it for you."
Look back at the tailor, make sure he doesn't pick anything outlandish.

533345

>>533343
Wave at the others.

533347

>>533341
"Yeah, I can understand why. Probably why he's so good with kids. The fact he can tear anything that tries to hurt you to shreds is a nice bonus, too."
Turn to Dulltooth. "Sorry about talking about you right in front of you, but it's all true, isn't it?"

533354

>>533344
"Sorry.
Just thought you might be making a good choice here."
The clothier soon returns with a few material options, most of them with fancy patterns, and one that seems to be a more muted and faded single tone.
>>533347
"Yes.
Fern, is this basket nice?"
He points at a big round one
"We could add pillows."

533355

>>533354
"I bet you'd think that, huh. Skirts… I've never wore one in my life."

Point at the single tone one.

533356

>>533354
Hmn. How nice does the basket look?

533360

>>533345
Oh! Wave back. "Hello miss Blossom! Enjoying yourself so far?"

533362

>>533360
"This city is full of wonders, milord.
I still can hardly believe I've walked the same soil the Sisters did!"

533363

>>533355
The tailor doesn't look surprised at all
"Hmpf. Well, I will do what I can. Come back in… an hour."
>>533356
It's sturdy and should have enough of a loose weave to not get too stuffy.

533365

>>533363
"I think it looks good, but I'm not the one who'll be riding in it. Fern, what do you think?"
>>533362
"Glad to see you're enjoying yourself. Where all have you been so far?"

533366

>>533363
"Right. I'll see you then."

Time to hit a pub.

>>533365
"I'll be at the nearest bar if you're looking for me."

533367

>>533365
"One of the churches, milord. I had a talk with a priest."
Smile.
"What's this place instead?"

533368

>>533365
"Better than a sack, that's for sure. But can we afford it?"
>>533366
Dachs tries to tag along

533369

>>533367
"It's a shop. Cassie's getting herself a skirt, while Fern's shopping for a basket to ride in while Dulltooth carries her around."
>>533366
"See you later."
>>533368
Can I afford it?

533370

>>533368
No harm in that. I can see why he wouldn't want to hang out with ponies.
Now, for that bar.

533371

>>533369
Easily, thanks to the money you saved on whores earlier.
>>533370
There is a fancy wine club for fancy ponies

533372

>>533369
Chuckle at that.
"I bet they'll look cute."

533373

>>533371
"I can pay for that. After all, Dulltooth is working for me."

533374

>>533371
Pass, keep walking

533375

>>533372
"I bet the two of them get together before all is said and done."

533377

>>533373
"Thanks boss."
"Very kind of you."
After a bit of fiddling, Fern's new basket is ready and she climbs on in
"This is actually way better than the sack."
>>533374
There is also an expensive looking import alcohol tasting club

533380

>>533375
Smile a bit.
"Good for them. Love can really change somepony. Or somedog."

533381

>>533377
…do I have money for expensive drinks?

533382

>>533381
Between all the clothing you keep buying? Kinda pushing it.

533385

>>533382
Let's just keep going then

533387

>>533377
Alright, let's go pay for it. "Excuse me, I would like to purchase this basket."
>>533380
"It most certainly can."

533388

>>533377
If it's just gonna be faff tonight, I think Whisper will go to bed early.

533389

>>533385
Between the Exotic Flavor Beer Explorer Guild and Sober Society of Scotch Samplers you find a couple of ponies snoozing among (possibly stolen) bottles
>>533387
A good deal if you ever made one.
Everyone walks away a winner
>>533388
Right.
This will just be faff, so next time we can move on with the plot

533390

>>533389
Okay then.
Was fun!

533397

>>533389
I'll just confiscate that as evidence.

533398

>>533397
They don't even wake up.
"You uh… wanna find some place to drink these in peace?"

533399

>>533389
Give a quick look around the place.
'1d10'

Roll #1 6 = 6

533404

>>533399
Canterlot's market district sells only the finest of goods in Equestria, at a suitably high price.
So much as owning a single item from this esteemed place can be seen as a status booster in social circles.

533407

>>533404
Yeah, stay at a respectful distance from anything in here. I don't want to spend a lifetime slaving away to repay the owners if I break something.

533408

>>533398
"Yeah, we should. Any ideas?"

533409

>>533408
"…wanna climb up on something?"
>>533407
If you want directions around town, you can chat up Cloudcover, since he knows the place

533411

>>533409
Snicker.
"Sure, why not. Go ahead, pick a spot. I got the booze, you get the rest figured out."

533413

>>533409
Nice idea.
Go by his side.
"Will we be staying in town for the night?"

533417

>>533411
He points up at a buttress with some gargoyles
"Those seem like company even you wouldn't mind"
>>533413
"If we must. Though that means we will the two if not three days behind the cultists."

533418

>>533389
"Well, go ahead and try it out!"

533419

>>533417
Wince.
"No, that would not be wise.
We should hurry and relinquish the artifacts then… But to whom?"

533422

>>533418
Fern get sin the basket and Dulltooth hoists it up, with Fern poking out, her hooves on his shoulders
"Cozy."
>>533419
"The mirror belongs to Lord Falconwreath."

533423

>>533417
"Unless they come alive."
Let's start climbin'

Roll #1 3 = 3

533425

>>533422
>>533419
"I also have some personal business with the Lord Falconwreath. Shall we go seek an audience with him?"

533426

>>533422
>>533425
"I shouldn't have expected less from milord. Knowing everypony in this town."

533427

>>533423
"Lemme help you with that. Can't be easy with all those bottles."
'1d10'
>>533425
"We should go then. The sooner the mirror is returned the sooner we can go."

Roll #1 1 = 1

533428

>>533427
Alright. Let's go have words with the Assassin Lord.

533429

>>533427
>>533423
He gives you a boost up, though it's hard to tell if his unfortunate hand placement was accidental or intentional…
>>533428
House Falconwreath.
Somehow it has always had a strange air to it. It's so… normal. Not normal normal. The kind of normal you see in plays when a writer tries to emphasize how normal something is. A manufactured, unnatural normal.
The doors are heavily guarded
"What business have ye?"

533431

>>533429
"We seek an audience with the Lord of the house. We currently possess something which belongs to him which we would like to return."

533432

>>533429
Well, at least I'm up.
Snarl a bit.
"I really hope that was an accident."

533433

>>533432
"What was what now?"
He climbs up and sits next to you, looking a little confused
>>533431
"Enter."
The entrance hall is simple. Generic even. Nothing really stands out. At all. It's unnerving. If someone asked you to describe the room ten minutes from now, you probably couldn't. It's as if through some mathematical genius everything about it is so unremarkable you can't even really form memories of it.

533434

>>533433
Let's just get to the audience chamber as quickly as possible.

533435

>>533433
Narrow my eyes, but offer him a bottle.
"Your paws."

533436

>>533426
"I know him by reputation rather than having ever actually met him. Some refer to him as the Assassin Lord."

533437

>>533434
There is a pony in the room with you.
He absolutely wasn't there a heartbeat ago.
"Show it."
>>533435
"Oh? What did I grab something?
S-sorry. Truth be told I…
…I can barely feel anything with them."

533438

>>533437
"Are you Lord Falconwreath? Because he should be present for this."

533439

>>533437
Raise a brow.
"Oh really now?"

533440

>>533438
"Show.
It."
>>533439
"Guess I was born with weak paws that got worn down.
Anyway, yeah, sorry. Should probably have mentioned it before."
He takes a gulp.

533441

>>533437
Act slightly startled at the happarison.

533442

>>533440
Show him the mirror. "There. Now can we talk?"

533443

>>533440
I drink a bit too.
How is it?
"That sucks. No cure or nothing?"

533444

>>533442
"Yes."
As you blink he is gone.
Within seconds the door near you opens, leading to a room decorated with various paintings. There are no windows, but the room is lit with large candles. This leaves many corners and nooks in complete darkness. Darkness that seems to have eyes.
The only other pony in the room is the unmistakable Lord Falconwreath. A pony in remarkable shape compared to most other nobles, with piercing eyes and soft, articulate voice
"Thank you for returning my mirror. It means a lot to me."

533445

>>533443
Tastes a little cheap. It's probably stuff the fancy clubs threw out.
"I was never big on admitting I'm such a softpaw."

533446

>>533444
Enter the room with the mirror. "I'm not surprised, considering the power it holds. Power you were entrusted to safeguard."

533447

>>533445
"And I don't like admitting that I need new pants, but I buy a new pair, don't I?"

533448

>>533444
Follow Amber closely.

533449

>>533446
At the edge of your hearing you sense a sound of audible sharpness, as if a hundred daggers had been pulled a fraction of an inch from their sheaths all around you.
The lord's eyes snap to you, staring deep inside your soul like two jagged spears of ice being slowly pushed through your skull
"It is an important symbol of my line. I thank you for hastening its return. And am willing to reward you for it."
>>533447
He shrugs
"I never understood what's so great about pants. I mean you got fur already."

533450

>>533446
Go near him, up close.
"M-milord… I don't like this place…"

533451

>>533449
"I bet you'd like seeing me running around naked, but the pockets are more useful than you'd think. Plus it's good something between your fur and things that try to kill you sometimes.

533452

>>533451
"Sure I would.
But still, a lot of dogs make due with a vest, maybe a belt for some pouches."

533453

>>533449
"I have a price in mind. There is a mare, Smooth Silk, who recently angered several noble houses. I want your word, the word of the Assassin Lord, that House Falconwreath will effectively forget that she ever existed."
>>533450
"I know. Just stand back and let me do the talking. And if I do something to scare you… I'm sorry. It's all for show."

533454

>>533453
"Ha. Ha-haa-ha. Assassin Lord, my, such a humorous wit you have.
But if all you ask in return is I forget about somepony I have never even met, then I suppose you were paid in full before you even came in here."
What a creepy, hollow laugh… that's not how laughter works. That's more like reading the words "ha ha" off paper!

533455

>>533452
"I don't. Why is that a problem?"

533456

>>533454
shift slightly.
"Try not to lose it again."

533457

>>533454
"Understand that I will hold you to your word. If any… incidents should occur to miss Silk, the equestrian public will be told how your lapse in security almost resulted in eternal midnight."
"Just so we understand each other."

533458

>>533456
"I won't.
Now, was that all?"
>>533457
"Your terms are very clear, sir Amber Dawn. I will see to it that they are upheld.
Thank you for saving me the trouble of recovering the mirror myself."
>>533455
"It's not a problem. It's just kinda weird.
Or, you know, different.
Then… I suppose we sorta are different from most dogs, huh?"

533459

>>533458
"You mean how we don't want to enslave ponies and sniff each other's butts?
I guess yeah, we are."

533460

>>533458
"forgive me my lord, but I was told there was some kind of reward? It was quite an ordeal to retrieve that mirror.."

533461

>>533460
"So you wish a reward of your own?
Very well, state your desires."
>>533459
"It's just like those romance stories ponies like to write…"

533462

>>533458
"I am glad we understand each other."

533463

>>533461
Smirk, and take a gulp.
"How would you know?"

533464

>>533461
"Money? Or a nicer sword than the one I own."

533465

>>533462
"I am not.
The implications of your understanding are unfortunate."
>>533464
"Done."
As you glance to your side, someone has already switched your sword for another, along with the sheath, but not the straps.
#You may add a third tag to your weapon
>>533463
"I did not want to stay illiterate, and the only stuff to read down there were books taken from captured ponies."

533466

>>533465
Snicker.
"That sounds terrible."

533467

>>533465
"Then let me replace implications with facts. The Cultists already summoned the worm and had it devour the heart. In a matter of days, their rituals will be complete. Time is running out. Luckily for you, our group should be able to stop them."

533468

>>533465
Blink a bit and nod.
"Most efficient lord Falconwreath."
leave him to his affairs.

533469

>>533466
"It was. Made for a lot of lonely nights too.
…to much info?"
>>533467
"See to it. I, in turn, will see to it that this kind of information no longer spreads so… openly."
>>533468
Cloudcover follows you
"Unsettling, isn't he…"

533470

>>533467
Nod at that.
"It is true, Lord Falconwreath. This is quickly becoming too dangerous.
But we will not falter."

533471

>>533469
Facepaw.
Then empty the glass I have.
"You've become too much like them. The ponies. Absolutely dumb."

533472

>>533470
"You also had a part in the recovery of the mirror. You should ask for a reward as well."

533473

>>533469
Shrug a bit and smile at Cloud.
"The Lord seems fine. I feel like he was trying too hard to show off."

533474

>>533472
"I would never dare being so rude, milord."

533475

>>533474
"It is not rude to ask to be fairly rewarded for your deeds, miss Blossom."

533476

>>533475
"I really don't know what I could ever use."

533477

>>533476
"Are you sure? There's absolutely nothing that you want?"

533478

>>533471
"Says the one who spent her life with actual ponies."
>>533473
"I counted six in the shadows"
>>533474
"It is fine. Ask if you desire for something."

533479

>>533477
"A good blade in my hooves would be a waste, and asking for wealth is asking for troubles.
There is one thing that would make me happy, but that's not an impossible dream. It will just have to wait until we are back."
Smile.

533480

>>533478
"How am I as bad as they are?"

533481

>>533479
"Very well then. Let's get out of here."

533482

>>533481
"I would like nothing more, milord."

533483

>>533478
"Does he scare you?"
walk closer to him.

533484

>>533480
"You wear pants"
He downs the rest of his bottle
>>533479
>>533481
"Good day to you, then.
Princess Celestia will be waiting when you return, miss Blossom."
>>533483
"Of all the ponies in Canterlot, he scares me the most. Especially now that I've actually seen his shadows."

533485

>>533484
Stand petrified by this statement.

533486

>>533484
pat him on the side and give him a playful grin.
"I'll just have to be brave enough for both of us then."

533487

>>533484
"So nosy dogs won't gawk at me. Plus ponies are sort of at eye level."

533488

>>533484
Well then, time to get going-
>>533485
Nudge her. "Are you all right?"

533489

>>533487
"Eh.
Guess it's a bitch thing."
>>533486
"Just remember the difference between bravery and foolhardiness."

533490

>>533489
Roll my eyes a bit.
"I'm not going to do anything stupid. I just don't see the point in letting myself have nightmares like a little filly over somepony who isn't going to hurt me."

533491

>>533488
Regain some control.
"Y-yes."
Bow to Lord Falconwreath.
"Thank you, milord."
Let's leave.

533492

>>533489
"What, you want ponies staring at your junk?"
Drink some more.

533493

>>533490
"Lets hope it stays that way…"
>>533492
"I got nothing to hide"

533494

>>533491
"I take it you're looking forward to seeing the princess."

533495

>>533493
"Oh, you're one of those dogs."
Snicker again.

533496

>>533493
look honestly confused.
"Why wouldn't it?
He doesn't want the world to end any more than we do.
And we haven't done anything to offend him."

533497

>>533496
"Lets hope so.
I think we caught him off guard by knowing so much about the truth."
>>533495
"Gaze all you want if that's the attitude you prefer."
He passes you the last bottle

533498

>>533497
Grab it and take a pull.
"You wish."

533499

>>533497
>>533496
Catch up with Coral and Cloudcover. "So, did I do alright in there? I didn't screw up, did I?"

533500

>>533499
"We're all still alive, are we not?"
>>533498
"Hm."
He continues drinking in silence

PAUSE SOON

533501

>>533494
Chuckle.
"Well that's surely a secret."

533502

>>533497
Give him a compassionate stare.
"If you really feel that way, then just stay close to me. Two eyes are better than one."
>>533499
"Did good at saving your mare-friend's butt maybe."

533503

>>533500
'1d10' can I even see these shadows he's worried about.

Roll #1 6 = 6

533504

>>533500
I'll just drink silently as well then

533505

>>533500
"Good point. Now, you wanted to check up on your brother?"
>>533501
"See? Good deeds are always rewarded."
>>533502
"Tell me you wouldn't do the same thing for Cloudcover."

533506

>>533505

Our next destination is Hollowtop, which, if our informant was honest, will be a seething next of criminal scum."

"Nothing except the fact that it's more time lost once again."

Hollowtop.
An old volcano that has slept for centuries now, looking quite impressive in the light of the setting sun. It got its name from the crater up top, a deep, hollow bowl that occasionally fills with water after heavy rainfall. The road here was rough and seldom traveled, and the only real marks of civilization here are the ruins of an old watchtower up on the mountain, and the sleepy artisan town on Ponpeii on the foothills.

534332

>>534330
"…So Smooth Silk. How badly did you clean that innkeeper out?"

534337

534350

>>534332
"Enough to ensure the room was free at the end of the day.
How did the… arrangements go?"
>>534340
The top of it seems to have partially collapsed. It may once have been a proud keep overlooking this land, but now it's not much to look at.

Do you wish to head for the town or the ruins?

534357

>>534350
I think bandits would take the ruins. so ruins.

534358

>>534350

You keep your distance from the town and head for the watchtower ruins, taking the old winding path up the mountain. From the feel of it, nopony has used this road for decades, so it probably served no purpose beyond offering access to the keep when it still functioned.
The gates of the keep are old and long since collapsed. Beyond them you can see a large staircase leading to a courtyard at the base of the remains of the tower.

534376

As the dust settles, you see your old acquaintance Glorious Grace, his weapon embedded in a struggling cultist, his eyes wild with divine rage.
Up at the top of the tower, staring down, you can see a silhouette against the sun. Probably Sweet Potato.

These statues are incredible. The proportions are flawless, the faces are astonishingly lifelike, even the coat has a realistic coat unlike most smooth statues. 534551

>>534548
Narrow my eyes at him a bit and go inside, sit at the bar.

534552

>>534548
How fortunate.

"Excuse me sir, I was wondering if I could borrow your expertise for a while? My Mechanical Assistant encountered some brigands earlier, and I'm hoping your expertise with materials might help me decide whether or not to repair her parts or not."

534553

>>534548
"Well, not so much a rumor as information from a group that encountered a group of bandits in the area. If you could elaborate on that, it would be most helpful."

534554

>>534550
"Deadbeat's Debt here-"
He points at a statue of a pony offering a bag of coins on his knees
"-was 5000 bits. While Fragile Promise here-"
He points at a statue of a stallion and a whore
"was 30.000, as the subjects were that much more complex to work with."
>>534549
>>534553
"I see…
Well, if you want a clue, I can tell you I have in fact seen bandits around here. They have a hideout out in the old storm cellar outside town. Probably moved in after the old house it belonged to burned down."
>>534551
There is some sort of dance show up on a stage in the back. You can't really make it out from here though.
As you sit down, two stallion sit on either side of you
"Traveler, huh?"
"Dangerous job to be doing alone"
>>534552
The smith is a big guy indeed. Looks like he has seen a fair bit of real action too, given how scarred he is. Still, he seems rather jovial, with a joking glint in his eye.
"Alright my good man, but if you know the password, I will give you a special discount."

534555

>>534554
"You name them?"

534556

>>534554
"Most distressing! And the local guards?"

534557

>>534554
"I wouldn't know, sorry. I'm just traveling through."

534558

>>534554
Are they dangerous looking? '1d10'
"You this concerned about every pony that wanders in for a bite to eat?"

Roll #1 7 = 7

534559

>>534555
"Yes. Though that's just for my own amusement."
>>534556
"We have never had problems."
>>534557
"Is that so…
Well, lets see it then."
>>534558
They look like thugs. Very fitting for this bar.
"Only the pretty ones."
"We'd hate to find out somepony like you risked it coming all this way on her own"

534560

>>534554
Something about this guy and his place rubs me the wrong way. Can I see a door to his workshop or something? '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

534561

>>534559
I'll motion for Primrose to step forward.

"Oh, in the meantime, has there been any evidence or rumors of Bandits hiding out in these parts? I've heard tales of them as I approached."

534562

>>534559
"I'm capable of holding my own ground. And I'm not scared easily either.
Now, who sent you over to greet me?"

534563

>>534559
"I see."
Bow then.
"Then, we shall see to the safety of your town, thank you, sir…"

534564

>>534559
"Oh…
Well, anyway, I've got some work to do, so keep up the good work."

534565

>>534560
"You seem curious. What is on your mind?"
>>534561
"Bandits…?
Ah. Hm. You checked out that old… hideout in the storm cellar outside town?"
>>534562
"We just heard you were a traveler"
"We don't get many of those around here."
The barkeep passes you a drink in a tall glass mug
>>534564
"Be safe."
>>534563
"Go right ahead."

534566

>>534565
I will wait for Amber.

534567

>>534565
Let's go regroup with the others.

534568

>>534565
"…It's nothing. Besides, we should get going." Let's leave and gather the group.
>>534566
"Come on, now that we know where to go we should find the others."

534569

>>534565
What, I didn't order anything yet.. What is this drink? '1d10'
"Can I get a salad?" I will ask him politely.

"Really? You haven't seen any travelers lately then?"

Roll #1 3 = 3

534570

>>534568
Nod firmly and follow out.

534571

>>534570
Once we're outside, turn and whisper to her. "Was it just me, or was there something… off about that guy?"

534572

>>534571
'1d10' to see if I noticed it.

Roll #1 2 = 2

534573

>>534571
Look at him surprised.
"Milord?"

534574

>>534569
Mead, from the smell of it
The barkeep nods and heads to the kitchen
"Not at all. We practically get none here. Just people bringing or picking up things."
"But not visitors."

534575

>>534574
"That's a shame. I'm going to sort of a family reunion. On the other side of this mountain. I'd hoped to catch up with the others by now."

534576

>>534573
"Those statues… they seemed… too lifelike. and so many… that level of detail should take a ludicrous amount of time, but…"
Hmn. Where there any half-finished statues to be seen? '1d10'

Roll #1 3 = 3

534577

>>534567
>>534568
>>534570
You meet up outside the sculptor's shop
Dr Grey and Coral are somewhere else
>>534575
"Others?"
"You saying more of you took this road?"
>>534576
No.
Nor were there any blocks of marble.

534578

>>534576
"Maybe he's a very skilled artisian?"

534579

>>534577
"Oh, probably! I mean the map makes it look like a straight shot from canterlot if we take the mountain path."

534580

>>534565
"No, we've just arrived and decided to investigate first, as well as restock on anything we might need."

534581

>>534577
>>534578
"…He must be, to carve statues without blocks of marble or leaving them half-finished. Something's definitely wrong about the whole thing, and I want to figure out what."

534582

>>534581
>>534578
"What are you thinking now?"

534583

>>534579
"Canterlot, huh?"
"Pretty face like that, I wouldn't be surprised if you had some noble blood in you."
>>534580
"Right… right…"
He checks up Primrose
"This is one complex piece of work you got here…"

534584

>>534582
Wince.
"Disturbing things."

534585

>>534583
"Thank you, though I'll admit I only followed the intrsuctions that I found. I don't know much else of the quality of the materials I used or how thorough I was in assembling her."

534586

>>534582
"Did you notice that those statues were a bit too lifelike? Statues need a long time to finish, yet every piece in there was completed… No blocks of marble or chips littering the floor like you'd expect there to be…"

534587

>>534583
take a tentative sip of the drink, does it taste off at all '1d10'
"Well, my cousin likes to think so. Doesn't want to accept that a crystal pony can be low-born. That fool."

Roll #1 3 = 3

534588

>>534581
"Mylord, what if we…
What if I tried to inbue one of the statues with the holy powers?"

534589

>>534588
"I'm listening. What would happen if we did?"

534590

>>534589
"…One can only hope, they'd go back to what they were before…"

534591

>>534584
>>534586
"…are you thinking what I'm thinking you're thinking?"

534592

>>534585
"Well, I can straighten out the dents in her at least."
>>534587
It tastes strong, but that's all you can tell.
"Must be a big family then"
"You planning on expanding it?"

534593

>>534591
"It sounds crazy, but the evidence seems to point that way, and considering the freaks we've been going up against so far…"
>>534592
>>534590
"I can't image he'd take kindly to us messing with his works. Smooth Silk and I would have to distract him while you tried it on one of the more out-of-the-way statues."

534594

>>534592
"I'll offer what I can for your time and skills.. Thank you."

534595

>>534592
smile a bit.
"Well, I do have a special somepony, and if nana white likes him.. well maybe we'll even have a few foals."
"But enough about me. What about you boys? What do you like most about your town?"

534596

>>534593
"And if our suspicions are true…"

534597

>>534596
"Then he's a monster of the worst kind, and probably knows more about those bandits than he's letting on. We make him tell us everything, then have him answer for his crimes."

534598

>>534597
Grow serious and silent, just nodding.
"Ready whenever you are, milord."

534599

>>534595
"We like the freedom it offers"
"Though we don't really like the types that freedom attracts."
>>534594
He starts hammering away, focusing on his work.
You can look around freely as he is distracted.

534600

>>534592
>>534598
"Right then. Smooth Silk, you're a better talker than me, so the story is that you're fascinated with his work and might like to order one yourself. Dulltooth, be ready to grab him if he tries to make a break for it. Now… let's go." Reenter the shop.

534601

>>534599
"The type of freedom it attracts?"

534602

>>534599
Let's just take a look at his weapons. How old are they, their quality as far as I can tell, how many he's sold.

'1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

534603

>>534600
Follow suit.

534604

>>534601
"The type of ponies that freedom attracts"
The other one looks around
"You seem like a clever gal. Why not come with us upstairs?"
>>534602
Seems like he does a lot of repairwork. Most of the weapons look quite… brutal. Fitting for, well, bandits.
>>534600
She nods
"Oh. You're back."
"Yes. I am interested in making a commission." '1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

534605

>>534604
Meanwhile, go off to a side and look at one of the pony statues farther away from the middle.
'1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

534606

>>534604
swirl the drink around a bit and glance behind me, spot check '1d10'.
"And if I said no?"

Roll #1 1 = 1

534607

>>534604
"Yes, your craftsmanship really caught her eye." '1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

534608

>>534604
Best to keep that to myself, then.

"Are there any other points of interest I should be aware of nearby? My fellow travelers will be looking around for a while before moving on?"

534609

>>534605
It's not a big shop, so all of them are fairly visible.
>>534606
The bar seems to have their eyes on you. It seems a lone traveler makes for easy prey.
"The others will not be as nice."
>>534607
"Hm.
Lets go to my office then, miss."
They both head into the back of the house. You have a moment alone in here.
>>534608
"Depends on what you're after. We make some nice food around here. And pottery.
Also, loads of mares available at the whorehouse."

534610

>>534609
I'm still with Amber right?
Supreme Survivor, Spot check for any suspicious clue in the statue shop.

534611

>>534609
>>534605
"That's good and bad. Blossom, get to work and work fast!" I go listen at the door to his office in case he's trying anything with her. '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

534612

>>534609
Shake my head slowly, and subtly look for a way out '1d10'
"So.. it turns out those type of ponies you don't like.
That's just you huh?
"

Roll #1 8 = 8

534613

>>534609
Find one in the merchant's blindspot then. And then Cure! Let Her magic flow through it!

Roll #1 10 + 2 = 12

534614

>>534609
"They're not my game, but I wouldn't be surprised if my compatriots are indulging themselves there before we move on. Again, I offer my thanks for your assistance."

534615

>>534612
"We never said we're good ponies ourselves."
"But we are far from the worst here."

There is a window in the stairwell. You could leap out on the way up if you wanted to.
>>534614
"Anything for a bit of coin. That's how the world works."
>>534610
>>534611
>>534613
Blossom focuses a massive amount of energy into a statue, filling its stone heart with the light of Celestia, unleashing a great blast that cracks its stony outer shell
…allowing the corpse inside to flop down on the floor. These are not petrified ponies. They are dead bodies propped up and covered in plaster.

534616

>>534615
Grimace.
"I don't even know if that's more messed up or not… but this business is closing down."

534617

>>534615
Give Primrose a once offer and pay the Smith, then try to find the others.

534618

>>534617
She seems to be in top notch shape. The smith did a fine job.
The others are probably still in that statue shop.

534619

>>534615
"…Well. It's one thing to have the suspicion, but seeing it confirmed…" My eyes widen. "-and Silk's alone in a room with the bastard!" Barge into the office Silk and the shop owner went into.

534620

>>534615
Look at them a bit closer, remember their faces and such.
"…and you'll protect me from the others if I listen to you? Is that right?"

534621

>>534615
Gasp and take a step back, staring at the ‘sculptor‘

534622

>>534619
Follow him.

534623

>>534620
"Yes."
"Because we think you deserve to make it out of there alive."
>>534619
>>534622
You burst into the back room, where Silk and the sculptor are sharing a cup of tea.
"What is it now?"

534624

>>534623
Rush into the room aswell!
"You monster!"

534625

>>534623
"Where do you get the bodies, huh?"

534626

>>534623
"I was right." Stare down the sculptor. "Now you're going to tell us everything we want to know. NOW."

534627

>>534625
"Commissions."
>>534624
"I prefer 'artist'."
>>534626
"Very well, I suppose it's only fair I let you know your fates."

534628

>>534627
"I'd start explaining if I were you."

534629

>>534623
"fine.. lets go"
follow them just a little behind and jump out the window.

534630

>>534627
"Oh, a 'your situation is hopeless' speech. Never heard one of those before." Glare intensifies as I motion for Dulltooth to move up. "Start talking. Now."

534632

>>534629
You land outside safely.
Surprisingly, you do not hear the sounds of pursuit.
>>534630
>>534628
He puts his tea down.
"Ponpeii is a haven for those who need to stop existing in the eyes of the world. We offer protection for any who need it, but expect everyone to pull their own weight. That is how our boss envisioned this place.
Me, I offer a most valuable service. Assassinations are cheap. Disposal not so much. And the richer and more important you are, the less you can afford to have your murdered enemies turn up and get investigated. This is where I come in. I will make tasteful art pieces out of your chosen targets, which you can openly display in your homes without anypony ever realizing. Or send them as gifts to your enemies, I don't care."

534633

>>534632
..really? '1d10' look behind me.

Roll #1 5 = 5

534634

>>534632
Walk up to this 'artist'.
"Give me one good reason not to beat the snot out of you then hand you over to some guards."

534636

>>534632
"I take it the location you were directing us to was a trap that would have had us end up as more 'commissions' for you, am I right?" This place sounds kind of like what Silk was looking for. How is she responding to this?

534641

>>534633
The rest of the bar probably gave up on the idea after seeing the two thugs "claim" you. Chances are they are upstairs buying you time by pretending you're still with them. Maybe those to guys really did care for your well being.
>>534634
"Hurting me will not bring anyone back. But it will ensure more will die."
>>534636
Entirely motionless.
"I suppose you'll have to go and see for yourselves. The others were not disappointed."

534642

>>534632
Make note of that.
He might be handy for other more dirty assignments.

534643

>>534641
…Maybe.. I need to regroup fast then. Where are my friends? Look around town. '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

534644

>>534641
"Will it? How exactly?"

534647

>>534641
"I suppose we will. Then again, we can't exactly have you blowing the whistle on us, can we?"

534650

>>534643
They are nowhere to be seen.
But your visibly alarmed state and confusion are drawing a lot of attention.
>>534644
He just puts on a cruel smile
>>534647
"Oh, you did a fine job of that yourselves.
Travelers don't come here often. And those who do, don't leave."

534652

>>534650
That's it, wipe the smile off his face, punch him right in the muzzle.

Roll #1 1 = 1

534653

>>534652
That was the wrong dice

Roll #1 7 = 7

534654

>>534650
Fucking calm down. Just look inside the windows, maybe I can spot them. '1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

534656

>>534650
"So this whole town is a den of murderers. I don't you'll be missed. Silk, you might want to put some distance between yourself and him."

534657

>>534650
This situation seems like it is escalating.
Grab my knives.

534661

>>534653
You break a few teeth with that one.
He spits out some blood
"This won't save any of your friends."
>>534656
Silk is not moving.
"Murdered, disposers, enforcers, thieves, bandits, fences, slavers, we have many names."
>>534654
You press your face against a window to see what's inside. The window opens unexpectedly, and you fall into a dark room.

534664

>>534661
"Backtalk won't save you either."
Punch again.
'1d10'
"Who's in charge of all the crap going on in this town?"

Roll #1 9 = 9

534665

>>534661
fuck this town.
draw my sword and just cut my out of here. '1d10'
"THIS IS NOT FUNNY" I shout.

Roll #1 6 = 6

534666

>>534661
"Silk, are you all right?" Put myself between her and the sculptor.

534667

>>534665
You slash around wildly, eventually finding a door.
>>534666
She is not moving.
>>534664
You crack his eye socket and bruise his nose
"Go out to the storm cellar and see for yourselves. The king of thieves does not hide above ground."

534668

>>534667
Point at Silk.
"What did you do to her?"

534670

>>534667
Break the door down '1d10+2' shatter!

Roll #1 9 + 2 = 11

534671

>>534667
"…Silk?" Oh shit, is she still alive? Poke her and make sure she's still alive!

534673

>>534667
Rush to Silk's side and put Her magic at work.
Heal.
'1d10+2'

Roll #1 5 + 2 = 7

534675

>>534670
Light floods into the darkness.
It seems this was a storage shed. You're back outside.
>>534668
>>534671
>>534673
She's alive alright.
After the Heal, she coughs a few times and throws up.
"Oh man that tea was awful."
The sculptor takes another calm sit of his own cup

534677

>>534675
"Oh thanks goodness!"
Hug her tight.

534678

>>534675
Look around for signs of others, someone has to check traps like that one. '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

534680

>>534675
Grab him, by the neck and snarl.
"So, any last words now that your usefulness has passed?"

534682

>>534675
"Silk, are you alright?" Hold her tightly. "Don't scare me like that!"

534686

>>534678
Sounds like someone heard the commotion. You can hide in the back door next to the shed, or make a run for it out in the open.
>>534680
"I regret nothing."
He spits the poisoned tea into your eyes
>>534682
>>534677
"I asked him to make a statue of me… In light of things, yeah, that was.. dumb."

534687

>>534686
Break his neck.

Roll #1 5 = 5

534688

>>534686
I'm not running. I want to know who these scumbags are. Hide and wait for them.
'1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

534689

>>534686
Chuckle a little. "Yeah, that sounds like the kind of mistake that I would make." Turn back to the sculptor. "Once we take care of this piece of trash, we need to collect the rest of our party. This town isn't safe."

534695

>>534687
He jams a sculpting tool in your bicep, forcing you to drop him
>>534689
He shoves you aside and tries to make it to the door to run.
To catch him, beat this roll '1d10'
>>534688
You stand your ground and soon come face to face with a zebra. He isn't particularly big, but has a sense of magic to him.
"Well well well what have we here?"

Roll #1 4 = 4

534696

>>534695
If I can't stop him, Dulltooth should be able to. '1d10' '1d10+1'

Roll #1 9 = 9 / Roll #2 1 + 1 = 2

534697

>>534695
Grab his tail, don't let him escape!

Roll #1 5 = 5

534699

>>534695
"A very pissed off crystal pony. Now Who. Are. You.?"
Glare at him and be prepared to strike.

534703

>>534695
Look for Coral '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

534705

>>534696
>>534697
You manage to halt him, but as his final act of retaliation he throws a chisel at Dulltooth, who falls over backwards, crushing the basket with Fern in it.
>>534699
"A patron out on a stroll.
Why so agitated, miss? You got thrown out too?"
>>534703
Not here. You may need to look around town.

534706

>>534705
Slit his throat so we can get out of here already.

534707

>>534705
'1d10' I don't believe that, what's he up to? Is he hiding more friends?
"Thrown out of what?"

Roll #1 8 = 8

534708

>>534705
Time to go look for Coral so I can slap her.
Spottan '1d10'

Roll #1 7 = 7

534709

>>534705
Once that's done, check on Dulltooth and Fern.
"Dulltooth! Fern! Are you all right?"

534710

>>534705
Help up that big mutt.
"Is everyone fine?"

534716

>>534707
He has no reason to think you are anything but another bandit like him.
"The uptight whorehouse?
Why else would you be on the alley behind it?"
>>534709
>>534710
Fern looks a little messed up
"Damnit Dull, you're heavy!"
>>534706
You kill of the sculptor.
That's one down, a town to go.
>>534708
You hear some voices from the alley behind the brothel, and as you peek around the corner you see her there talking to some zebra.

534717

>>534716
Oh she's fine then.
Huh…..wait here.

534719

>>534716
"…yea that's right. Did you try to get rough with their mares?"

534720

>>534716
"Good, you're fine. Now, how do we torch a whole town? I never did this before."

534721

>>534716
"Now that that's taken care of, let's find everybody. We don't need anyone getting taken on their own."
>>534720
"Flaming arrows might be a good start."

534722

>>534719
"What can I say, the flank was fat.
I guess using magic was off limits though."
>>534720
>>534721
"We should find others. Lady Sunset. Calming Breeze. Could be in trouble."

534723

>>534722
"Really? What did you do shock her?" step closer not lowering my sword yet.

534725

>>534722
"Agreed. Let's collect Coral and the rest, then go after our friends before they join the statue collection." Head out and try to find Coral. '1d10'

Roll #1 8 = 8

534727

>>534723
"A little.
Then I tried to shrink a few of them so I could have them all at once more easily, and they called the bouncers on me."
>>534725
You find Whisper listening in on Coral and some Zebra in an alley behind the brothel

534728

>>534722
>>534721
"I wish that volcano was active right now."
Follow

534730

>>534727
"Can you imagine. The nerve of those guys! I mean you payed good money for that, you should get to see them cry right?"
Get right next to him.

534732

>>534727
"CORAL GET BACK!" Leap of Faith to pommel the zebra in the back of the head! '1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

534735

>>534730
"Oh, a little scream is enough for me~"
>>534732
You land on your face right in front of the zebra
He looks mildly surprised, but then walks around you and cops a feel
"My oh my~
All these crystals…"

534736

>>534735
My eyes light up when I see I have back up.
"Try not to get blinded."
'1d10+2' shatter that zebra.

Roll #1 8 + 2 = 10

534737

>>534735
Throw something at the face of the zebra.
Anything I can find. The first thing that I can grab.
'1d10'
"Shoo, scram before I do something we'll both regret."

Roll #1 3 = 3

534738

>>534735
Jump in the air blushing furiously. "HOOVES OFF, PERVERT!" Buck him in the face! '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

534743

>>534732
I facehoof.
These ponies.
Wait for the fight to be over.

534745

>>534737
You pull off your pants and throw them at the zebra
>>534738
You throw your legs back at him, landing them gently on his shoulders.
"No hooves, then~"
Well, at least he is honest. His tongue is not a hoof.
>>534736
You leap in the air and plant your blade in his head, exploding his entire body in a thundering blast of light. Cassie's pants and Amber's crystals take a hit as well, but luckily remain undestroyed.

534746

>>534745
"…that was dumb, but I tried to act fast."
Mutter and get my pantaloons back.

534747

>>534745
FUUUUU-
Saving throw not to throw up from getting hit in the crystals. '1d10'

Roll #1 9 = 9

534748

>>534745
Huff and dust off the sword.
"Its about time you guys showed back up. We have a lot of work to do."

534749

>>534747
It's fine. You've had worse.
Just a little rusting of the ol' jimmies.
>>534746
They now have holes in the knees, but that's fashionable anyway, right?

534750

>>534749
Not like anyone can complain.
Damnit.
"Are we ready to do this?"

534751

>>534748
"That statue shop? Turns out they weren't statues, but ponies bodies covered in plaster. We took care of the sculptor but we need to get going after Lady Sunset before they get to her.
>>534749
Thank goodness. Hope I didn't embarrass myself too badly in front of Smooth Silk.

534752

>>534750
"Where are the others?" I ask directly.
>>534751
"This whole town is awful. I suspect they kidnap mares for their brothel by trapping them. I also know for a fact the bar isn't safe."

534753

>>534750
>>534751
Go to them.
"So we ready to get going?"

534754

>>534751
She looks more concerned for your health than anything else

534755

>>534752
"We know. We are torching this whole place. The entire town is crawling with lowlife outlaws."

534756

>>534754
Give her a smile. "I'll be fine. Just… just a little shaken up."
>>534752
>>534753
"Everybody pack up. We're going, and we're going now."

534757

>>534755
>>534756
>>534754
Nod. "Okay, fill me in on your plan?"

534758

>>534756
'What's the plan then?"

534759

>>534757
>>534758
"Torch the town, save Lady Sunset, wipe out the bandits. Feel free to get creative with the details."

534760

>>534758
>>534757
"We sort of just went with 'Burn town' so far."

534762

>>534759
>>534760
"Where are Lady Sunset and her ponies?"

534763

>>534759
>>534760
Oh this is so messy.
Is the town made of wood?

534764

>>534762
"No idea."

534765

>>534763
Wood, stone, thatch, what have you. It's old with lots of new stuff built on top.

534767

>>534762
"There's an old Storm Cellar outside of town. That's where we were being directed, and that's where they sent Lady Sunset. We need to hurry, so grab those torches and start burning!"

534768

>>534765
Okay, they probably must have some oil or pitch stored around here.
A match and this town will be on fire in no time.
Look for the oil place '1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

534769

>>534764
groan "Well, then we need to find her. I bet somepony as pretty as her got taken to the brothel."
>>534767
"…Well, that's a useful lead. Lets go then"

534770

>>534769
"That's a bold thing to say."

>>534767
Grab a torch!

534772

>>534768
You consider entering the brothel to ask for some oil wrestling
>>534770
You luckily have some left over from the mine.

534773

>>534770
"Considering what happened in the bar, and how I fell down here from a window trap. I strongly suspect it. Or that somepony else has her locked away."

534774

>>534773
>>534772
"If she was sent to that cellar, she'll be there. I'm pretty sure of that."
Light my torch.

534775

>>534772
That's a good idea!
Oil right there.
Walk in and ask if they have oil wrestlers.

534778

>>534774
You now have a lit torch.
>>534775
"Next bout is in… twenty minutes. You looking for a seat or are you contending?"

534779

>>534774
give you a low glare and try to suppress my anger. "Just tell me which way to go."

534780

>>534779
>>534778
Chuck the torch inside one of the wooden building windows.
"Let's find out."
Supreme Survivor, let's start walking and look for that storm cellar

534782

>>534778
All right, start by setting fire to the statue shop.

534784

>>534778
"Who would I be contending with? And where is the oil bath?"

534788

>>534780
An angry pony shakes his hoof at you from the window while pouring a bucket of water on the torch
>>534782
The shop and the bodies in it start lighting up nicely as nobody is there to stop you
>>534784
"Hmm… seems like Bald Bull is in need of a challenger at least.
The ring is over in the show hall, down there."

534790

>>534788
Find Cassie. "You know, flaming arrows on their roofs would be a lot harder for them to put out."

534791

>>534788
I guess we'll have to make a second pass. Head towards that Storm Cellar already.

>>534790
"Do I look like I have a bow? We'll handle the torching of the city after we know that king of thieves is dead and the lady is safe."

534792

>>534791
"Really? I could have sworn you had a bow at some point."
Ah well, to the Storm Cellar we go!

534793

>>534788
flinch a bit.
"Those ponies were dead right? The ones covered in plaster?"

534794

>>534793
"Yes. Blossom confirmed it. they're basically corpses that were covered with plaster."

534795

>>534793
"Yes, they were corpses."

534796

534797

>>534791
>>534792
>>534793
You head out of town as more and more bandits are staring to come out into the streets, wondering what the fires are about.
It's only a question of time now…

534799

>>534788
>>534788
"Bald Bull, seems like a weird name for a mare."

534800

>>534797
They'll burn, or we'll come back and clean up the rest.

534802

>>534797
try to grab one of them. '1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

534804

>>534797
"Hey, where's Whisper gone off to?"

534807

>>534799
"Well, you know, stage names.
Wrestles are like that."
>>534802
You go for a dramatic grab, only to slip on some loose rocks, embrace the bandit firmly, lock lips with him and fall over right under him

534808

>>534807
"So where is this Bull?"

534809

>>534807
aw geez, well, get up and whisper to him "Hey do me a favor? Go get your boss. I wanna talk to him."

534810

>>534807
>>534802
"CORAL!" I'm shocked! Now Cloudcover's going to get his heart broken and I'll feel like a dick for talking him into starting the relationship!

534811

>>534810
"Shut up. I'm trying to work here." glare at you.

534812

>>534807
>>534810
>>534811
Facepaw.
"What have I done to deserve this."

534813

>>534808
"She will be in the arena in ten minutes."
>>534809
"What's the password?"

534814

>>534813
"We don't use a password, dumbass."
>>534811
"…I'm telling Cloudcover."

534815

>>534813
Bop him on the head.
"We don't use a password, you idiot."
>>534814
"I had to get their attention somehow."

534816

>>534813
>>534814
Still facepawing.

534817

>>534813
"Where can I get dressed properly?"

534822

>>534814
>>534815
"Boss is having a feast today, remember?
Or were you not told?
Anyway, it's in the usual place under the old tower. The storm cellar door is a little messed up after that last batch of snoopers we caught, but the boys put up a ladder so it can still be used.
Or, you know, just take the brothel door."
>>534817
"Well there is a crowd already, so go right on stage if you want."

534823

>>534822
"Thanks man. I heard those snoopers gave you all trouble, did they learn their lessons?"

534824

>>534822
"Wouldn't mind heading through the brothel, at that."

534829

>>534823
>>534824
Roll my eyes, but say nothing.

534830

>>534829
give you a knowing look.

534832

>>534823
"Oh they will. Though some of them are still loose I think."
>>534824
"Meet you there then I guess.
I think oil wrestling is on in ten if you want to go check that out."

534833

>>534822
Get on stage and flex! '1d10'

Roll #1 1 = 1

534834

>>534832
"Man. I just hate do gooders looking into our stuff. I'm gonna go over there. The cellar on the south side of town? I was a little drunk last time I was up there."

534835

>>534832
>>534834
Shake my head.
"She can fly off the handle when she does that, oh boy."

534836

>>534832
Oil wrestling? Against my better judgement, I'm tempted to check that out.
…Screw it, head into the brothel.

534841

>>534834
"Yeah that one. Just take the ladder under the stump. Cause, you know, the whole trap door and all under the hatch."
>>534836
There is a bouncer at the door
"Here for the show?"
>>534833
You slip in the oil a few times, ending up on your back, your travel clothes half slipped off.
The crowd laughs.
And so does Bald Bull, who just arrived on stage.
She rivals a strong workhorse in size, and is entirely shaved.
Her face is quite pretty though.

534842

>>534841
"Hasn't already started, has it?"

534844

>>534841
"Thanks man. Enjoy the party." tap him on the back as if a friendly pat. and then punch him in the back of the head hard
'1d10'

Roll #1 4 = 4

534845

>>534841
How good is the oil? Does it look like that good flammable oil?

534846

>>534841
>>534845
Also, mama mia, this will be fun.

534847

>>534844
I'll punch the stallion in the head as well, for good measure

Roll #1 5 = 5

534849

>>534842
"Nah, you're right in time for the smack talk.
Provided you have the password."
>>534844
It's more of a friendly mane ruffling for someone that bulky.
>>534845
It's clear oil, but plenty slippery.
You are not sure of its flammable properties, but the smell implies it might flash up nicely if you can get it to ignite.

534851

>>534849
"We don't use a password, dumbass."

534852

>>534849
They must have enough of this stuff down there.
Allright time to have some fun.
"Hey there, girl. I'll try to make it easy on you."
Wink

534855

>>534849
Oh well. Go to the south side of town.

534857

>>534855
Follow her.
"Well, that went well."

534858

>>534857
"See, us ponies aren't all stupid."

534859

>>534858
"It was still sort of dumb to kiss him."

534860

>>534859
Look embarrassed "…I was just trying to pull him to the side. I sort of fell onto him, but it worked out.. so no harm no foul I guess?"

534861

>>534860
Raise an unconvinced eyebrow.
"Sure thing. Don't worry, I won't spill the beans."

534863

>>534861
"Thanks for sticking with me. All the boys went to the brothel in a hurry it seems."

534864

>>534851
"In ya go."
He opens the door
>>534847
He just grins and elbows you in the side as a compliment
>>534852
She pumps her hoof in the air, drinks a mug of beer and smashes the mug
"Look at this wimp! Look at him! Look! He wants to take it easy! Make it easy!
Well let me tell you something brother, you are looking at the mother of mayhem, the aunt of agony, the fister sister, BAAAAAALD BUUULLLLLL and there aint no such thing as making it easy for me. Cause for something to be easy, you need something to be hard. And for me, nothing is hard!
And THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE!"
The crowd cheers.
>>534855
You find the burnt down house and storm cellar door soon enough.
There is indeed a stump nearby.

534866

>>534863
"I wonder why."
Shake my head.

>>534864
"There it is."

534867

>>534864
>>534866
"Right there should be a ladder around here.." '1d10' locate the ladder.

Roll #1 6 = 6

Alright, let's head in and see what this is all abou- HOOOLY SHIT IS THAT WHISPER!?!

534870

>>534864
"I bet you'd look pretty in a dress."

534873

>>534866
>>534867
You inspect the stump and pop the top open, revealing it to be just a lid. Underneath you see some broken stairs with a ladder laid on top as temporary repairs.
>>534869
Yyyep.
All wet and drenched in oil.
>>534870
"By the time I'm done with you little boy you will be wearing dresses and liking it.
There is nothing you can do when Bullmania runs wild like a wild stallion all over your tender hindquarters.
You are not prepared, your body is not ready for this monster mare's python pounders!"
She strikes a pose

534874

>>534873
"You just try to beat down this WALL"

534875

>>534873
"Well, there's our ladder." climb down.

534877

>>534875
>>534873
I climb down as well.
"Here goes nothing."

534879

>>534873
Ohohohohoho, I am going to get so much mileage out of this. Settle in and watch the show.
…Oh, and glance around for an entrance to the area the feast is being held while I'm here. '1d10'

Roll #1 2 = 2

"You will be beaten!
You will be eaten!
You will be defeaten by the BAAAAALD BUUULLLL!"
>>534875
>>534877
You descend to the rim of a deep arena-like pit. On the ceiling you can see a trap door. So anyone who comes into the storm cellar falls into the arena, and is at the mercy of those up here on the rim…
>>534879
It might be in the back somewhere, bit there is too much of a crowd to see for sure

534883

534886

>>534885
"its just like the damn window trap I fell in.."

534887

>>534881
>>534884
Oh geez… I just… he looks RIDICULOUS… Hahaha… and where the heck did he learn to trash talk so badly… oh, my sides…
Pull myself away long enough to manuever through the crowd enough to try to find the entrance. '1d10'

Roll #1 5 = 5

"Don't worry, we'll make sure this never happens to anyone after we're done with this place."

534889

I have already taken mental note of all this.

534890

>>534888
Nod firmly. "Damn right we will Cassie."

534891

>>534883
It could probably be jammed with a stick. Or just tied shut.
>>534884
"Grammar is just another enemy I have defeated!"

After pushing a lot of folks aside you find a door into the basement
