Last Session:

>You, Baron, Lucent, and Thorn make your way back to camp and ask a bit more about Thorn being able to hear "her"

>Gold Heart explains the psychic link between Tiamat and the other dragons, how it may be turning them to her side
>Upon returning to camp, everyone goes their separate ways and Lucent greets you
>She brings you to your tent where you confess to everything that happened at the cave with Baron, despite your best efforts to keep up your end of the deal
>You weren't going to lie to her and you didn't
>Lucent reveals some information about her past relationship with Baron and a little about why he might act the way he does
>After your discussion with Lucent, who says she'll take care of Baron and help with Gold Heart, if you like
>You decide to tell Gold Heart yourself
>After everything that's happened with the Dragon Empire, Thorn, and now the murder you've committed, she doesn't take the news well
>By the end of the conversation, she's in tears and apologizing to you
>Thorn assures you, that you've done nothing wrong and to get some rest
>Luna has been waiting for your dream to open up to her
>you tell her everything that's happened as well
>Luna is so surprised and a bit annoyed that she missed out on all of recent events that she decides to have you stay by her side
>You agree if she'll stay by yours, which she does
>Tiamat briefly interrupts your conversation before you and Luna kindly tell her to be on her way
>Before she leaves, she inflicts pain upon you in a dream, where you shouldn't be able to be hurt
>Luna's also been glowing occasionally for now more than a second at a time, but when you mention it to her, it disappears again
>you chalk it up to imagination and stress
>Luna agrees and suggest dreamwielding to get your mind off things

Luna - Good Friends

Celestia - Mid-Low

"We have seen how clever you can be," Luna says trotting back and forth before you. "You fight well and are creative when the situation calls for it. All of these qualities are excellent in an adventuring companion. It has been established that you are most definitely more interesting than a metal cube."

She pauses for a minute with a smile on her face and moves towards you. Her face leans down closer to you and her deep, blue eyes stare into yours.

"But dost thou," she straightens her posture and clears her throat with all the manner of a proper princess, "Do you know how to have fun."

Luna's eyes pop wide open as she utters the final word and her smile would make the Cheshire cat envious.

"Do you truthfully have no knowledge of fun?" she her smile sinks into a frown, but her eyes stay wide with disbelief. "The joys of which all of this life and the world have to offer? Running through with a cool night breeze? Flying in a starry night and bursting clouds with reckless abandon?"

Luna takes off into the air, zooming around in various patterns.

"Listening to the sounds of nocturnal creatures go about their business," she goes says, halting to a stop in the air before you. "And that is only a few of the things outdoors. There are many games you can play as well. And indoor activities as well. There has been much headway in the business of fun since I have been away. Have you ever played a board game?"

"The can be rather frustrating," Luna lands before you and stomps a hoof, the metal of her shoes clinking against the stone of the courtyard. "Celestia takes an unfair amount of pleasure in besting us, but we are above letting it affect our relationship as sisters."

"I'm more a fan of card than board games, they tend to be less… heated."

"Card games are fun, as they require great strategy and cunning if developed well," Luna smiles and then brushes your suggestion aside with a wave of her hoof. "However, these are all intellectual. I was hoping for something more physical and robust."

Luna spreads her wings and stands tall. Her eyes narrow and determined.

You give your wings another, stronger flap and rise into the air a total of two inches before you lose balance of yourself and fall face first into the stone ground. It doesn't hurt, but it's a bit annoying that you can't get these infernal things to work properly.

"Do keep trying if you are so determined, but please find me soon," Luna requests. "The anticipation is enough to bring about my certain demise. Though, since I have the time to properly address the situation, would it be proper to speak with you about the recent events of your day. "What do you mean?"

You stand yourself up and give one more attempt at flight. Bringing your wings to full span, you bring them down again and leap into the air. Keeping a strong, steady rhythm, you manage to keep yourself in the air. Maneuvering is a bit difficult, but now you can see everything. The castle courtyard stands below you, but that's about it. It exists as an island by itself in a vast an endless sea of stars, a large amount of which are still frozen in mid-supernova from Luna's outburst at Tiamat earlier. There are other floating islands in the area, each one representing a unique geographical climate.

The islands are a desert with a an oasis connected to a few pyramids, a glacial fortress of ice and rock, and a small village with a large mansion standing in the center.

"You said you killed a Diamond Dog while you were on patrol with Baron and it caused you many a hardship," Luna say, the chipper tone of her voice sinking a little. "Do you regret your actions?"

"Well, yeah. I mean I've never really killed anything before. Or at least nothing that could talk."

"Though you say this," Luna notes, "your tone suggests otherwise. Though I may have misheard the true feelings behind your words."

The village you land in looks old fashioned. There are lots of houses made with hay roofing and dirt roads. The mansion in the center is the only thing with what you would see as modern architecture. White stone pillars stand around the porch of the mansion, supporting a balcony on the second floor. There are at least 5 windows on each floor, with large double doors leading inside. A swing hangs just off to your right. Behind the mansion is an empty pool with a lengthy staircase leading down to it from the mansion. The mansion itself looks rather plain on the outside, and you can't see anything through the windows.

 No.596181

>>596180
Conjure a light (assuming the reason we can't see anything is because it's too dark inside) and sneak through the front entrance.

Also say nothing, maybe we can trick Luna into revealing her position that's just a cheap excuse, I just don't know how to respond to her last statement. Maybe someone else has an idea

Also, can we use dream wielding to try and find her or are we limited to looking around?

 No.596182

Guess we should head in…
"I've got blood on my hands, Luna. It's not ever gonna come off. And it could have been different."

"I WISH it had been different…"

 No.596183

>>596181

You say nothing and conjure a light to guide your way into the mansion. You open the doors and find the inside layout of the mansion is completely upside down and furniture is floating all over the room. You step onto the ceiling and see two spiral staircases curled against the wall and leading up to the second floor. There are two open areas to your right, but you can't see what's in them. The area your in now appears to be a foyer or lobby of sorts. Another door on the first level probably leads out back and there are more rooms on the second floor to inspect. Of course, everything is upside down, you are currently staring straight ahead at the second floor.

"I've got blood on my hands, Luna. It's not ever gonna come off. And it could have been different."

"I WISH it had been different…"

"If you truly do regret your actions," Luna says, "I would ask that you do not dwell on them. You may have ended the life of a Diamond Dog, but that does not mean you will do the same to another being in our world. You must forgive yourself and look towards the future, as I have done."

Walking ahead through towards the second floor, you see another set of smaller double doors in front of you. There are two hallways on either side, all with single doors leading into more rooms and two large glass windows at the end of each hall. The stars are twinkling brightly outside.

"Celestia and I have refrained from any casualties when facing our enemies," she continues. "We have been fortunate in that endeavor and will continue to strive for that goal in any battle against any foe. In a way, we are also fortunate for Tiamat's invulnerability. It makes part of our duty easier."

"Wouldn't it be easier to not have to worry about the day she breaks free again?"

"The same could have been said about me," Luna's voice sinks again. "Should Tiamat perish, the threat she poses would no longer be of any concern, but we also do not know the consequences that action would bring. When the Elements of Harmony were used to banish me to the moon, my sister had no idea what effect they would have on me. Celestia only wished to free me from the darkness cast over my heart and protect Equestria as we had both sworn to. Myself and another known as Discord have been brought out of the depths of our own darkness, it is our hope that in time, others we have faced may follow our example."

You can almost hear the smile in her voice when she speaks again.

"You have a kind and virtuous heart. Do not let it be tainted by that which plagues your mind. Heed this advice from a pony who has made such a grave error."

You close your eyes, attempting to feel out any other presences in the dream, but you can sense only yourself. The least you can do to make the search go by a little faster is open the doors. With no effort at all, each door flies open. The one north of you opens up into a large open-air ballroom. The ceiling has broken away so you can see the stars and there are candles lining the walls and scattered about the floor. Oddly enough, the ceiling was just fine when you were scoping out the mansion from outside.

"Another admirable quality you possess is the one to make difficult decisions," Luna chimes in again. "It is my belief that anyone who is willing to take the life of another in order to protect others has a very strong heart as well. Though you are not obligated to anyone but yourself, I know that you would do what is right for the sake of others. Celestia shares this trait with you. When I became Nightmare Moon, I was only thinking of myself."

There's a shift in the stars as a multitude of them begin streaking across the sky. The blinking lights fall like hail into the ballroom, bu phase through everything.

You turn around to see if the mansion is still there and find only the door you came out of and the sea of space behind it.

"One of the first things she did when we met was drug me - she looked pretty pleased with herself when I passed out."

"Quite the mischief maker, I see," Luna giggles. "The opportunity does not present itself often, but I am a fan of the occasional trick. I do not agree with her methods, however. Is she always that way?"

"Always impish? Tries to be. She doesn't drug me daily though."

"It pleases me to know you were honest with her despite her behavior," Luna's smile comes through again. "There are many who would keep secrets to protect themselves or others. Your reasoning for telling the truth may not have been admirable – your bruised cheek giving you away – but you did not lie. As a princess of Equestria, I would never wish to lie to my subjects. But should a situation call for it, would I be able to? Would I be justified?"

Taking a deep breath, you blow away at the fortress with as much force as you can muster. The island is swept away from beneath your feet, leaving you hovering in the space where it once stood. You watch as it drifts off into nothingness.

"This is not well-known," Luna continues, "but though Celestia and I were groomed for royalty, the time in which I served before my banishment was spent protecting Equestria rather than ruling it. I am a novice at best when it comes to matters of diplomacy. Especially now, when so much of the world I once knew has changed."

"Well, I _did_ tell Baron that I wouldn't lie to her if the question became unavoidable. I would have kept it a secret if I had the chance to spare him the unpleasant conversation with Lucent, but I wouldn't have lied to her."

>" I am a novice at best when it comes to matters of diplomacy. Especially now, when so much of the world I once knew has changed."

"Right now Equestria needs a warrior and protector more than a diplomat I think."

Should we fly over to the pyramids or make another attempt to investigate the ice castle?

You fly over to the island of pyramids and set down near the oasis. Out of all the pyramids here, only the largest has an entrance and there's only the one.

"Your confession to Gold Heart went well?", Luna asks. "You said she took it about as well as expected. How well was that? From what I've heard of Gold Heart, she is stoic and 'about as friendly as a cactus'."

Let the water from the Oasis rain upwards to make sure that Luna isn't hiding down there

You force the water in the Oasis to rain upwards leaving nothing but a sunken pit of wet sand behind. If you were hoping to find Luna there, you'd be disappointed.

"She guards herself well," Luna says. "As ambassador, just as Celestia and I are princesses, it is sometimes required to seal away certain emotions for the sake of diplomacy. For her to reveal such emotions to you, she must value you a great deal. She may have treated you harshly, but that may have been one of her only methods of properly communicating her inner strife. She is fortunate to have you, as you are to bear witness to what may have been a glimpse of her true self."

"I just wish there was a less physical way for her to show her feelings."

You head into the pyramid and peek inside. It's pitch black in here, but using the light you made back in the mansion, you illuminate the single chamber that takes up the room. In the center is a sealed human sarcophagus.

"There is much restraint involved," Luna informs you. "There are some who manage their emotions better than others, but she puts everything she has into her emotions when she allows herself to feel them. I was once like her."

As you lean your ear towards the sarcophagus, it opens up for you, and Luna rises out of it. The half-lidded gaze of her eyes is directed towards the base of the sarcophagus, and the corners of her mouth are turned down. Her wings and ears are drooping. She doesn't look at you at first.

Instead, Luna says, "I know Baron, Lucent, and Gold Heart have all acted in an unpleasant manner towards you, and despite that, you do not wish for them to hate you. Baron fighting with you. Lucent drugging you. Gold Heart beating and berating you in training. By all accounts you should hate them for what they have done for you, yet you harbor none towards them."

Luna looks at you, eyes misty and searching your face.

"Why?" she asks.

"Yes," Luna nods. "Yes, I see."

Luna stands up in the sarcophagus, spreads her wings, and flies out before you. She blinks away what few tears have made their way into her eyes, gives you the biggest smile you've ever seen on her, and wraps you up in the tightest hug you've ever been given. Luna's forelegs wrap around your neck and the full length of her wings envelop your body.

"Friends forgive each other."

You start to feel Luna shaking then. Without her wings to hold her up, you can feel the whole weight of her body pressed against you. The sounds coming from her are quiet at first. It's mostly just the sounds of her breath brushing against your neck, The breath turns into a giggle, and the giggle into full blow laughter.
