You gain the charm of speed, and will auto-win first initiative.

Aww yeah!

Do I still have that music bonus?

>>2183599 Radiant
>>2183609 Trusty

Where the rest at?
>>
>>2183654
Beats me.
>>
>>2183644
I'm not sure if I want to give you any more bonuses. You seem overpowered as is.

Alright

I let you raise the whole graveyard last time. Is that not bonus enough?

>>
>>2183699
You're right, fuck.
>>
One day, when we could start early, and the others are nowhere to be found...
>>
So we're missing Dawn, Ted and Campfire right?
>>
>>2183559
>>2183654
Here I am, had to get breakfast.
>>
>>2183771
Glad to see I'm off to such a good start today.
>>
>>2183769
Ted can't come right now.
Maybe he'll be able to drop in later, but not now.
>>
>>2183780
>>2183786
So that leaves Dawn

Should we wait or have her on autopilot for a while?
>>
>>2183797
Autopilot.
>>
>>2183797
We're down three players. Maybe we should wait a bit?
>>
>no Dawn
>Nasse might be brooming his yard or some shit

Fuck it, GO TIME.

LAST TIME ON MLPGDND - LORDS OF SHADOW
You stopped a mob of cultists chasing down Cloak and Dagger in Canterlot's poor district. A trail of blood suggested the wounded twins may have hidden in one of the mass tombs.

>If someone joins in late, that is fine. For now all those not present are assumed to follow the party, and can be used by other players (and me) in combat.
>>
>>2183874
The Tracker should follow the blood trail while we follow him.
>>
>>2183874
We should check that crypt where the blood trail is going.
>>
>>2183874
Let's follow the trail
>>
>>2183889
>>2183907
>>2183918
You enter the crypt. It seems to lead fairly deep into the ground. It is made up of small rooms connected by sloping stairways that lead down. In every room the walls are lined with small cubbyholes filled with bones.
You can hear some commotion lower down.
>>
>>2183956
Yeah, we need to go there
Now
>>
>>2183956
I think the Rogueshoud use Stealth, sneak down there, and report what she sees with her pendant.
>>
>>2183956
Follow the sounds, but try not to make too much sound.
>>
>>2183983
>>2183985
>>2183987
Dawn reports that she sees a sentry coming up
However she cannot see what is causing the commotion
>>
Is there a place where we could hide?
>>
>>2184040
Backstab the sentry so we can advance.
>>
>>2184040
Dawn should try to ambush the sentry and gag him before he can yell for help.
Can we hide somewhere?
>>
>>2184048
You could try to shove yourself in one of the cubbyholes and pretend to be dead
>>2184055
Negative, he is standing in the staircase, no way to get behind unseen.
>>
>>2184048
>>2184061
You could try to shove yourself in one of the cubbyholes and pretend to be dead
>>2184055
Negative, he is standing in the staircase, no way to get behind unseen.
>>
>>2184077
>>2184086
Let's hide there until he passes us, then we can kill him
>>
>>2184086
Standing, or patrolling?
>>
>>2184086
Does Trusty still have his crossbow?
>>
>>2184103
Standing.
>>2184112
Yes.
>>
>>2184115
He should snipe, and aim at the neck, so he can't yell.
>>
>>2184115
>Standing
Well, then Trusty should just kill him.
>>
>>2184128
>>2184139
The bolt sticks in the throat of the sentry but he doesn't even look like it hurt him.
He looks around, somewhat slowly.
>>
>>2184139
This looks like something you need to take care of.
>>
>>2184173
Damn, he must be undead.
How do we kill it without making a ruckus?
>>
>>2184173
Is he undead?
If yes, I'll try to take control over him
>>
>>2184208
>8
You manage to gain control of him, but it takes great effort and you can feel someone else is trying to wrest control away from you.

You will lose control if you roll under 5.
>>
>>2184230
I advance.
>>
>>2184230
Roll
>>
>>2184230
You can do it, Zebro.
The Light will guide you.
>>
>>2184249
>9
You have the undead sentry under your control, at least for now.
from the looks of things, he is slow but solid.
>>
>>2184269
Alright, let's go down there without alarming anyone.
>>
>>2184269
Let's advance now.
>>
>>2184277
>>2184282
As you head down you notice increasingly prominent bloodstains on the walls. After a while you also start seeing some limbs and scraps of cloth and flesh around the floor.
You can clearly hear the sounds of battle on the lever just below you.
>>
>>2184300
Peek out and see what's going on
>>
>>2184300
I peak out too.
>>
>>2184300
Who's fighting?
>>
Im here.
>>
>>2184314
>>2184327
>>2184343
Much of the room is soaked in blood. You can count at least five dead in there, with another five still alive. Two of them are pegasi, two more unicorns, the last seems like another zombie sentry.

In the middle of the chaos you can see familiar puffs of smoke. Cloak and Dagger are warping around the room, appearing behind cultists, striking and vanishing before anypone can react. Their cloaks are ripped badly and you can see both are wounded. The pegasus' wing is limping badly and the unicorn has to juggle him in and out of teleports.
Both seem tired but determined.
There is a gem pendant around the neck of the pegasus. You don't remember seeing it before.
>>
>>2184385
I cast fireball at the zombie.
>>
>>2184385
RIP AND TEAR
>>
>>2184385
I leap out and smash down one of them that seems to be the biggest threat remaining to Cloak and Dagger.
>>
>>2184385
Let's help them.
Take control ove-
>>2184415
Fuck, I'll just send my sentry in there
>>
>>2184385
I fire at the most menacing looking opponent.
>>
>>2184415
The zombie sentry bursts into flames.
It is now a Fire Zombie Sentry.
>>2184426
The other Zombie Sentry smashes into the flaming one. Both are now engulfed in flames as they clumsily wrestle eachother.
>>2184420
>0
You tear your dress.
>>2184422
>2
You miss, but do make an impressive entrance.
>Celestial Radiant
>About time your band showed up
>We can exchange venomous words later
>Right now, let us show these forsaken deathseekers the light of the sun
>>2184462
>2
The rifle is incredibly awkward to use in a cramped space like this, and you miss your mark badly as the recoil smacks the rifle into a wall and out of your hooves.

Two pegasi remain in the air
Two unicorns remain on the ground
The sentry is on fire and preoccupied
Cloak and Dagger are badly wounded

Roll for initiative.
>>
>>2184549
AHAHAHAHAH! I was wondering when our luck would go south.
>>
>>2184549
Stab one of the pegasus in the back.
>>
>>2184549
I take up a defensive stance, and concentrate my prayers on Cloack and Dagger to heal them.
I may disagree with Celestia that they are good ponies, but her Light shines down on all of her loyal subjects.
>>
>>2184549
IT WASN'T EVEN A CRITICAL
HOW COULD THE WEAPON FLY OUT OF MY HAND
I'll use a crossbow with an ice bolt then.
>>
>>2184549
WHY
Send my dragon to fight a pegasus
>>
>>2184595
Just be glad that thing didn't deafen us all.
>>
Sauna
Radiant you are the pilot
>>
>>2184666
>666
>I'm the pilot

oh boy
>>
>>2184666
Does this have something to do with your asthma?
>>
>>2184578
Your dress might never be pretty again, but your blade is as sharp as it ever was. You stab one of the pegasi, who drops to the ground but is still alive.
>>2184602
Your dragon takes to the air and tries to bite the remaining pegasus. However the cultist is too nimble.
>>2184590
>0
Cloak and Dagger don't even bother replying to you. As you take up a fancy pose and give your little monologue, one warps the other onto the pegasus that avoided the dragon, and soon it comes crashing down, its wings cut off.
>Deeds.
>Not words.
>>2184595
Instead of retrieving the rifle you pull your backup weapon and take aim. Your bolt strikes the grounded Pegasus, rendering him immobile.

One pegasus is immobilized
The other has no wings and is bleeding out
Both unicorns remain
Both sentries will burn to death in a few turns
Cloak and Dagger are no more wounded than they were before.
>>
>>2184754
Fireball on a Unicorn.
>>
>>2184754
Call my dragon upon a unicorn
>>
>>2184754
Charge one of the unicorns.
>>
>>2184754
"Then heal yourselves, snakes!"

I charge at one of the unicorns and smash him to a wall.
>>
>>2184754
Trusty-pilot mode:

He puts the bleeding pegasi out of it's misery with a shot.
>>
Okay I'm here
>>
Seeing the carnage around them, both the unicorns throw up magical shields.
>>2184767
>>2184775
>>2184778
Your three-way assault slams into one of the two. The dragon's bodyslam cracks the magic sphere, and a well-placed dagger strike shatters it, leaving him open for the fireball to immolate him.
>>2184783
You slam headfirst into the shield and are rebounded back to the twins.
They don't look at you.
>>2184806
Trusty trots up to the wingless pegasus who is writhing on the floor and puts his crossbow against the suffering pony's head. With a dull twang, his pain ends.

The shielded unicorn remains. He renews the force field and prepares to teleport away.
One Pegasus is still frozen on the floor.
Both zombie sentries burn to ashes.
>>
>>2184881
Root the unicorn
>>
>>2184881
I'll retrieve my rifle.
>>
>>2184881
Bandage the twins.
>>
>>2184881
Bring down the Hammer on the shield with all my might.
>>
>>2184907
That was me.
>>
>>2184881
Fireball the unicorn before it can escape.
>>
>>2184919
Damn it Dawn. At least this is only going to count as a failure.
>>
>>2184932
Sorry.
>>
>>2184892
The roots grasp at the shimmering shield but cannot break it.
>>2184920
Your fireball explodes before you can toss it, but the torch-staff absorbs the flames, protecting you.
>>2184903
The rifle seems to be undamaged.
>>2184907
As you tell the twins to stay still, they look at the escaping unicorn with uncharacteristic anger. The unicorn replies to their look with a smug smile and charges up his spell. He van-
>>2184908
THE HAMMER OF THE SUN SHATTERS HIS SHIELD AND SMASHES HIM DOWN.
The unicorn is dazed and disorientated. His horn is badly cracked and his front leg was probably dislocated by the force of the blow.
Cloak and Dagger look impressed.
>>
>>2185036
Swing again and shatter his horn.
>>
>>2185036
I'll stop his escape with an lightning bolt.
Someone subdue him.
"I think these two want to have a word with this one"
>>
>>2185036
Bash him with my staff
>>
>>2185036
Ask them if we need a pair of prisoners, then cast Heal on the one not wearing the necklace.
>>
>>2185036
Dont kill the unicorn.
>>
>>2185080
Well I don't mean to.
>>
>>2185070
Where is our Preacher? Hopefully he sees me cocking up the healing spell and helps out.
>>
>>2185057
>>2185068
>>2185062
You lot beat him up for a while until he stops moving.
He is unconscious but alive.
>>2185070
>0
The unicorn spy flinches away from you
>Keep your hooves to yourself.

The pegasus thaws and attacks [the one who rolls the lowest.
] If I do, he attacks the twins
>>
>>2185129
Shit shit shit
>>
>>2185129
Light him up!
>>
>>2185129
>>2185129
Aw crud.
>>
>>2185129
"Wha-"
>>
>>2185129
Slap himon the face.
>>
>>2185148
Oh right I shoot at him of course
>>
>>2185137
I'm gonna root him
>>
>>2185161
The pegasus strikes his ritual dagger into Radiant. The sun plate fails to protect her fully, and the blade sinks into her flesh before the twins can push him away.
Radiant is wounded, but not dead.

>>2185145
>>2185163
>>2185173
>>2185186
The pegasus, however gets shot, burned bound down and slapped.
He is most certainly dead.

There are no more cultists here.
>>
>>2185251
I'm gonna ask the ded why they wanted the Cloak and Dagger
>>
>>2185251
Use some bandages on Radiant.
>>
>>2185251
I'll check the wound.
"You okay your holiness?"
"And you, Twins?"
>>
>>2185251
see
>>2185127
>>
>>2185251
"Ow..."

I try to call down the Light to heal my wounds.
>>
>>2185270
"I've been through worse."
>>
>>2185294
"You sure it wasn't poisoned?"
>>
>>2185301
"I said I'm fine!"

I'm not going to seem weak in front of these snakes.
>>
>>2185321
"Fine, I know you've been through worse.
And you can see it on your face I was just worried, you never know about these knaves"
>>
>>2185270
>we've had worse
>but keep your flirting between you and the paladin
>we're not that kind of ponies
>>2185269
A bit of sisterly love and care can go a long way. As you help Radiant remove the sun plate you apply bandages to her wounded chest. You stare into eachothers' eyes, understanding just how important sisters can be to one another, having now both saved the other.

>>2185262
>2
"Even in death I answer only to Grogar and his prophets. Let me rest, weakling fool!"
Cultists seem to be a rude lot even when killed.
>>
>>2185358
>Weakling
Hit him over the head with my staff
>>
>>2185358
"So? You've got nothing to say? Are you really this low? You were in a bad shape when we got here, spies. At least you could be thankful."
>>
>>2185358
We should gather them into a pile and burn them so their bodies can't be used against us.
>>
>>2185358
"Hey, don't be so rude, I was just worried"
"Did you get what you wanted? We need to go topside."
>>2185387
"Calm down, your Holiness."
>>
>>2185358
We have to take them back to the castle.
>>
>>2185395
"I AM calm. Tie up the unconcious unicorn instead!"
>>
>>2185416
I think he is ded now.
>>
>>2185443
It was the other unicorn
>>2185416
"You're always agitated around the twins. Don't start up more drama now."
I tie the unicorn up and bring him topside.
>>
>>2185387
>We are thankful
>It is not in our nature to show it though
>We assumed you understood that much
>But perhaps you really are just a sack of bricks and hot air
>>2185376
He is dead, Jim.
>>2185416
You tie up the unicorn and head back to the castle. On the way over the hobo you saw stands at attention when you pass.
>>
>>2185457
Then I revive him and then hit him over the head
he should learn to respect me
>>
>>2185457
We should arrest this damn hobo.
>>
>>2185457
"So did you guys make a new friend?"
>>
>>2185457
"Celestia may say you are good ponies, but only because you are good at what you do. You really are stallions without honor, scum."
>>
>>2185457
"How 're you doing ya old git?"
>>
>>2185494
"They're clearly mares your highness."
>>
>>2185494
"Oh shut up and leave them alone."
>>
>>2185494
Oh come on
>>
>>2185512
Nuh-uh.
>>
>>2185537
>>2185543
"And you others?
Always playing the neutral one?
Not wanting to side in a conflict?
Those who stand in the middle of the road, will be knocked down by both sides.
It's best to stand for something, and stand firm.
And it hurts to see how you defend these liars all the time intead of siding with the truth and honor."
>>
>>2185599
Well I guess that role means I've been cowed.
>>
>>2185599
You know what? This is why Celestia doesnt like you.
>>
>>2185599
"Hey now, you seriously need to calm down. Even Celestia is more relaxed than you. It might be why she lashed out at you like that."
>>
>>2185599
You three all work for Celestia, I don't see a reason why you would try to have a conflict at all times.
>>2185630
OH COME ON
>>
>>2185630
"Yeah? Because I stand true to my standards? Because I know honor? Of course you will never understand that, as the simple rogue thief you are."
>>
>>2185667
"Also, it would be easier to side with you if your arguments didn't boil down to personal insults every time.
NOT THAT YOU ARE ANY BETTER, TWINS"
>>
Can we just stop arguing until we are out of the public eye? We're supposed to be heroes.
>>
>>2185667
Because you think you are better than us because you scream "oh Celestia" every time you kill ponies even innocent ponies.
>>
>>2185494
>You speak of honor
>Yet you fail to understand
>We are bound by our duty as are you
>Our duty is to be in the shadows
>To see
>To hear
>And if need be, to strike
>We are the scalpel
>Where the you are the hammer
>There would be no greater betrayal for us than to forsake our mission
>Our acts are honorable in that they are the services Celestia needs from us
>Or perhaps your ways have already helped you discover the identity of the Great One, hm?
>Perhaps we shall ask Celestia for her opinion in person.
"Therr right ya facks, an thems good pones ta boot. They commere an offer us bits fer info, an thems make shur nonna them trobl'makers start makin' no trobl 'rand 'ere. Grumblefackersmumblecelestiasassmuble..."

>double critical dickhead ranting
The twins don't bother mentioning that they never lie. They let you have your moment.
>>2185688
>She
>Started it...

>>2185667
>>2185688
>>2185714
NOW EVERYONE STOP ARGUING, CAMPFIRE IS RIGHT
>>
"Let's jut get to the damned Palace already."

When we get there, I'll stay outside of the throne room.
I'm sure the Princess will be glad that her stray dogs are returned, I don't want to ruin that moment for her.
>>
>>2185725
>"Therr right ya facks, an thems good pones ta boot. They commere an offer us bits fer info, an thems make shur nonna them trobl'makers start makin' no trobl 'rand 'ere. Grumblefackersmumblecelestiasassmuble..."
"I like your spirit, old man did I tell you that? Have a bit."
>She
>Started it...
"I know, that's why I've always been on your side. But someone's gotta be the bigger pony"
>>
>>2185725
I have no idea what that hobo said.
>>
>>2185725
Hey man, I gave you some bits too
>>
>>2185772
"Fankye grandly. Us homeless gotsta stick togeffer!"
>>2185825
"Bat yer a zigger, so ya don't really count assa pone now do ye?"
>>2185764
You arrive back at Canterlot, the bloodied and limping Spies leading the way.

Celestia motions you all to join her in the side room. ALL of you.
>>
>>2185850
Let's go then.
>>
>>2185850
Hey fuck you, hobo
Let's go
>>
>>2185850
I sit down in the farthest corner without a word..
>>
>>2185850
Walk with her.
>>
>>2185850
Alright.
>>
>>2185862
>>2185867
>>2185881
>>2185882
As you take your places around the table (>>2185879 and in the corner as dark as your wounded soul) Celestia asks for the twins to begin.
They push the gem onto the table and cast a spell on it, causing it to project an image. They begin to explain
>As planned, we planted this enchanted gem on a cultist and let him loose
>Thinking he had escaped with some fancy loot, he allowed us to see what happened within the inner workings of the cult
>Though the sheer amount of magic being used down there seems to have corrupted the recording, we still identified three key elements
>Firstly, this one. They call him the Reanimator, though the canterlot citizens registry names him Scripted Scene, son of the notable actors Final Scene and Prima Donna.
>He worked as an artist, then as a doctor, before disappearing after some controversial event we are still looking into.
Celestia nods and asks that they continue

>cont
>>
>>2186040
The image changes
>We fear that is where the good news end.
>This is their Master
>And Prophet
>They call him Patchwreck
You see the image of a twisted pony. His legs seemingly stitched to fleshy stilts, his horn long and gnarled, closer to that of a big goat than a unicorn, and a pair of mismatched griffon wings attached to his back. One of his eyes is a sickly green, the other amber.
Celestia looks at him for a moment, then recoils back, her mouth agape.
>We understand your shock, glorious sun
>It took us a while too to recognize him
>But there is no question about it
>Their leader is historian Moonshine
>Curious how the past can catch up to one like that...
Celestia says they can talk about her private past later. Right now she wants to see the last bit of news.

>cont
>>
>>2186125
The final image forms. It is dark and hard to make out, but you can observe a skull. It looks very strange. The cranium is clearly that of a pony, but the snout is longer, almost like that of a dragon. The eye sockets are mismatched and it has a crown of horns circling the entire head.
>We believe this is the Great One
>If our assumptions are correct
>And we pray they are not
>Moonshine seeks to resurrect a Draconequus.

Celestia is visible shaken by this information.
"After all this time... why could he simply not let go... That madman."
>>
>>2186196
Whos Moonshine your highness?
>>
>>2186196
>>2186125
Who's Moonshine?
>>
>>2186196
"What's this Moonshine business?"
>>
>>2186247
>>2186255
>>2186295
"He is an old... acquaintance of my sister's from ages ago. I thought he had died of old age by now.
Oh no use beating around the bush. He was a brilliant mage and historian, and had fallen in love with Luna. Yet he never dared confront her directly, as he was but a "lowly unicorn, unfit for a glorious Alicorn like Luna" as he put it. After I had to banish her, he took it very personally, accusing me of doing it only to spite him. He vowed revenge, but I never imagined he would... or even that he could do something like this."
>>
>>2186323
"Oh this is rich. What do you need us to do?"
>>
>>2186323
What do we do now? Go back to the catacombs and just start killing stuff?
>>
>>2186323
Waht if we collapse the catacombs?
>>
>>2186323
Resurrecting a Draconequus just because of some silly grudge? That's really excessive

I'm for this plan

>>2186446
I remain in my corner and watch them argue.

There's no reason we can't do both. We sneak in with a group of elite guards and mages and do as much damage as we can. Once we get caught or the enemy is in disarray we signal you with the pendants you gave us and the regular army moves in through every opening that can be found.

"You are what you make of yourself. Your devotion is a guide for your journey, but it can never be all that exists within you. It is times like these where ponies find the greatness within them, or die trying. Do not yet lay down your arms, for your moment of glory could still be ahead."

>>2186627
"Celestia, my Princess...
I bow down before her, keeping my head as low as I can.

I apologise if I ever offended or bothered you, but just I wanted to let you to know, that your presence, your existence, your very essence gives me such strength, such willpower, and such determination that I could never hope to muster from anyone else, or from anything in Equestria or beyond.
I know you don't like me, and that being near me and my petty orisons are a nuisance to you, but I just wanted to tell you that I'll never stop believing in you, and I'll die sooner than giving up my faith in you.
I'm sorry. I'll try not to annoy you further in the future. I'm sorry. I know I don't deserve the gifts you gave me. I'm sorry. I promise I'll try to be worthy to crusade in your name. I'm sorry."

After that, I take some steps back, with my head still kept low to the ground, and try to hide my tears, but continue to speak.

"We should fake an attack. Have them march their troops against ours, and then strike with a small group and attack the inner workings, kill the leaders, and destroy their hopes in ressurecting that monster."

"Rise, Radiant.
Though I may not approve of all your words, deeds or methods, it is not coincidence that causes my light to shine upon you."
She smiles, winks and turns back to her generals.

"It seems the vote is cast. We will locate an entrance to the inner catacombs and strike at their heart with a small team of elite warriors. Then, when possible, we send in everything we have through the main gates"
Valiance rises.
"I REQUEST PERMISSION TO LEAD THIS MISSION. I should've died four centuries ago, and this suicide mission will be proof of my penance."

Before you leave, Celestia asks if her armour has served you well. Looking down you realize the dagger that almost ended your life has split the sun decoration over your heart in half.
>>
>>2187351
I'll head to the archives to study Grogar's notes and maybe learn a new spell then, the others can call me when they're ready.
>>
>>2187351
Well let's escort them to the royal hospital. Maybe I can learn a thing or two about being a better healer while I am there.
>>
>>2187351
Walk them to the hospital then pick my supplies and dress.

"Yes, it did, it even protected me from a Dragon with ease, but when I doubted you and myself, even a dagger managed to find it's way past it's defenses... I was careless and let my anger control me, and it almost cost me my life... and now I wear my shame as I let your Sun shatter... But I'll still do my best to bring Light into the darkness!"
>>
>>2187410
You understand them perfectly. It is like they were written with you in mind. The words whisper themselves in your ears as you pick up your staff and give this new spell a try.
You see a mouse skittering across the floor. Transfixed and frozen by your gaze of death it slowly moves towards you. Your hoof glows with dark power as you touch it and feel its life drain away into you.
The mouse falls over, a dead, withered corpse, but you feel slightly revitalized.
>Zebro has gained spell: SOUL DRAIN
Do you wish to study further?
>>2187458
"Then let my light guard your heart as it guides your hoof. These may be one of the last times we meet. If there is anything more you need of me, just ask."

You get your pretty dress repaired. It is now a VERY pretty dress.
Also you get 10 Grenades and 10 Firebombs.

As you near the castle, you have a vision.
In it, Canterlot burns under a blood-soaked moon as a colossal creature of twisted bone proclaims his victory where his brothers failed.
The vision passes, and it is once again a nice day.
>>2187685
The kid is playing with a ball. His head is still gross and messed up, but it no longer bleeds and some of the fur has grown back.
>>2187691
The words continue to whisper to you. You listen and understand. You know Grogar intended for you to read this. You are sure of it.
You may begin the ritual to create a phylactery if you so desire.

>>2187612
I bow down before her.
"You gave me your armor, your tiara and horseshoes, but most of all, you gave me forgiveness and kindness.
I couldn't ask for anything more...
Just let me bring Light in Your name, and let me be Your helpful hoof for those who are worthy of Redemption, and Your Wrath on those who don't."

"And if I survive this and serve you well, maybe you could repair the Sun plate... If I come back, I want to come back as a worthy champion, and if I don't... I want to be buried as one. But for now, it will remind me."

>>2187776
What's the ritual like?
>>
>>2187814
In some sources the method of becoming a lich is referred to as the Ritual of Becoming or Ceremony of Endless Night. The process is often described as requiring the creation and consumption of a deadly potion, the Elixir of Defilation, which is to be drunk on a full moon; although the exact details of the potion are described differently in various sources, the creation of the potion almost universally entails acts of utter evil, such as using as an ingredient the blood of an infant slain by the potential sorcerer's own hand, or other, similarly vile components. The potion invariably kills the drinker but if the process is successful it rises again some days later as a Lich. Occasionally, this metamorphosis occurs by accident as a result of life-prolonging magic.

You will need the lifeblood of an innocent to anoint a vessel to store your soul should you die. Then, of course, you will need to kill yourself to try it out.

Though it seemed you had exhausted the library in your studies, you still manage to find some new information in an old, dusty tome.
It is a very taxing spell, and a very old one, but also very potent.
>You learned the spell: Healing Aura - you can heal everyone near you at once, but it is very difficult to cast.

>>2187979
Do I just need blood or do I need to kill an innocent?

How difficult?

"I'm not sure. You'd have to ask the healers about that."
>>
>>2188004
They must die by your hand.
They must not die willingly.
>>2188020
You give of your own life to aid those of others. It was abandoned as too dangerous by most healers. A miscast might prove lethal.

I'm not killing an innocent, even if it's required to become a lich.

"You were hoping for what, My Princess? I don't want to fail your expectations! You may ask me anything, and I'll do it. Or ask me to ask for anything. But knowing that I may serve as Your Champion, and you already gave me so much, I couldn't possibly ask for more."

Then muse, maybe to bring the Sun's Light with me everywhere could be good...
>>
>>2188069
The writing insists.
It tells you you are too great to remain mortal.
There are many who would not be missed.
Poor and homeless. Wayward children. Nameless spies. Condemned criminals.
All yours for the taking
And eternal life as your reward

"Oh just a silly little thing. Pay no mind to it."

Wait, can I revive them right after I kill them?

Perhaps as a soulless abomination.
But what price is that for eternal life?

As you walk away from the texts, you can still hear the whispers of Grogar in your ears.
"You'll be back. When you face your mortality you will take my offer. You know it."

>We all must die in the end
>We do not fear it
>Was there anything more you wished of us?

"Your tongue is sharp and your judgement swift. Your trust hard to earn and your mood easy to shatter.
Yet there is much good in your heart, and though your methods are not ones I prefer, I understand that deep inside you wish to be my greatest follower. And for that, I love you, as a subject, as a servant and as a devoted.

As for the twins having killed someone who had feelings for you, from what I've heard it hard to kill anyone around here without doing that. Perhaps you should be more inviting to the feelings of others, speak to them about it, and you would see just how many love you."
>>
>>2188516

You push the honeyed voice from your mind and look upon the papers one final time.

"I... I'd love to."
You watch as Celestia brings down the sun, her graceful form guiding the great flaming orb past the horizon. She wraps her wing around you as she rises the moon. Her wings are so pretty. The stars are bright tonight. It is all very very beautiful.

At the hospital, a child and two brave stallions sleep. They all dream of the great deeds of the past. Though the child's heart no longer beats, it is filled with happiness. He has met great heroes and seen great things. He feels he has lived life to the full.
Perhaps the same could be said of our heroes, as they smile in their sleep, content with having made the child so happy.

In the other wing, Dawn is getting to know her heroes very closely. The twins enjoy it as well, though they would never admit it. They have not felt the loving touch of a woman in years, and though their wounds are deep and painful, they would not stop for the world.

At the library, a lone zebra studies in candlelight, drowning the haunting whispers in his ears in a flow of information.

In the dungeons, a once great knight laments his fall, and the coming doom of canterlot.

Deep below, the Great one speaks to his prophet, as they lay down the final plans for his return.
